Home Care in East Sussex 107 home care agencies · 78 rated Good by CQC

Putting the home care agencies that cover East Sussex on a single screen is what this listing does, so the differences between them surface without hours of searching. One hundred and five agencies match, every one registered to provide personal care in people's own homes rather than in a residential building. Their CQC records take in Outstanding, a substantial group rated Good, some providers at Requires Improvement and others registered too recently to have been inspected and so not yet rated. East Sussex County Council is responsible for carrying out care needs assessments and for the financial assessment that decides how much of the cost a household meets. Agencies here include Curant Care, Dinarie and Home Instead, all rated Good, alongside providers covering only particular towns. When you have a shortlist, open each profile and read the CQC inspection report rather than stopping at the rating, since what the inspectors describe is the service you would actually be buying.

    • Home Care

Radfield Home Care Bexhill, Hastings and Battle supports people in their own homes across the area, working out of St Leonards on Sea. We visit older people and younger adults, including those living with dementia, people with a physical disability and people with a visual or hearing impairment. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is outstanding. We are proud of it, and we know it counts for nothing unless the visit that arrives at your door tomorrow morning is as good as it should be. So our attention stays on the things people actually judge us by, which are whether the carer turns up when promised, whether they know what they are doing, and whether they treat you as a person rather than a task. Support is planned with the individual and reviewed properly rather than rubber stamped. It may cover personal care, medication, meals, laundry and housework, shopping, or help getting out to appointments and to see people. We keep our teams small so that people see familiar faces, and we train our carers for the specific needs they are asked to meet. With the person's agreement we keep families informed, and we raise health concerns early with GPs and community teams. We welcome being told when something could be better.

We are Home Instead in Eastbourne and Hailsham, supporting adults across the area in their own homes. We plan support around the life somebody already has rather than around a standard package, and we keep the same carers visiting the same people wherever we can. We support people living with dementia, where a familiar face and an unhurried pace achieve more than anything written down. We work with adults who have a learning disability and with autistic adults, people managing mental health conditions, people living with a physical disability and people with sight or hearing loss. We also support younger adults and people in recovery from alcohol or drug misuse, and we approach that work without judgement. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is outstanding. We are proud of it and also realistic about what it means. A rating captures a moment. What keeps care good is the daily effort, sending the same carers to the same people, ringing when a visit is going to be late rather than leaving somebody watching the clock, and listening properly when a family tells us something is not working.

    • Home Care

Here at My Homecare Crowborough, we provide home care support to people living in Crowborough and the surrounding areas of East Sussex. Our team works directly in the homes of the people we support, helping them to live as independently as possible in familiar and comfortable surroundings. We support a wide range of individuals, including older people, younger adults, and those living with dementia, a learning disability or autism, a mental health condition, or a physical disability. We recognise that everyone we work with has a different story, different needs, and different expectations of the support they receive. That is why we take time to get to know each person properly before care begins, and we keep listening as things change over time. Our approach is straightforward. We want the people we support to feel genuinely respected and heard. We do not believe in a one size fits all model. Whether someone needs a short visit each day to help with personal care, or more regular and involved support throughout the week, we work around the individual rather than asking them to fit around us. We are proud to hold a Good rating from the Care Quality Commission, which reflects the consistent, thoughtful care our team provides day to day. That rating matters to us, not because of what it says on paper, but because it tells the families and individuals who trust us that we are doing things properly. If you are looking into home care for yourself or someone close to you, we are always happy to have a conversation with no obligation. Getting care right for someone takes time and thought, and we welcome the chance to talk things through at whatever pace feels right for you.

    • Home Care

Visiting Angels Southwest Kent and East Sussex provides care and support in people's own homes across Tunbridge Wells and the surrounding parts of Kent and East Sussex. We visit older people and younger adults. Support may cover personal care, help with medication, meals, shopping, laundry and household tasks, and for many people it also means reliable company and someone who notices how they are doing. Packages range from one call a day to several visits, or longer periods of support where needs are more complex. We work with people living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, people managing mental health conditions and people with physical disabilities. Each of those changes how we plan a visit and how we communicate, and we learn what suits the individual rather than applying a standard approach. Care begins with an assessment at home and a proper conversation about what would genuinely help. The plan belongs to the person, family are involved when the person wants them involved, and we revise it as circumstances change. Continuity is something we build into the rota rather than leave to chance. Familiar carers spot small changes early, and nobody should have to explain their own routine week after week. If you would like to talk about support at home, please contact us and we will arrange to come and see you.

    • Home Care

AQS Homecare Sussex provides care and support in people's own homes across Eastbourne and the wider East Sussex area. We work with older people and with younger adults, and our packages range from one short daily call to substantial support built around complex needs. The range of people we support is broad. It includes people living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, people managing mental health conditions including eating disorders, people with physical disabilities, people with sight or hearing loss, and people whose lives have been affected by alcohol or drug misuse. Working across that range depends on assessing each person carefully and not assuming that a diagnosis tells us what somebody wants from us. Visits cover personal care, medication, meals, shopping, household tasks and company. Where someone is working towards greater independence, the plan is built for that rather than quietly taking over. Continuity of carer is scheduled for rather than hoped for. Our carers are trained for the needs of the people they visit and supervised properly once they are in post, and we keep families informed when something changes while leaving decisions with the person themselves. The Care Quality Commission rated us good at our most recent inspection. Please contact us if you would like to discuss care at home.

    • Home Care

At Kati Innes Occupational Therapy, we provide home care support to younger adults, including those living with learning disabilities or autism, across Uckfield and the surrounding areas of East Sussex. We believe that where someone lives should feel genuinely like their own space, and that the support they receive at home should reflect who they are as a person, not simply what they need. Our approach is rooted in occupational therapy principles, which means we think carefully about how daily activities, routines and environments affect the people we support. We want the individuals in our care to feel capable, comfortable and as independent as possible in their own homes. Supporting younger adults with learning disabilities and autism requires real understanding and consistency. We take time to get to know each person properly, learning how they communicate, what matters to them and what their days look like. That relationship, built on trust and genuine familiarity, is at the heart of what we do. We are proud to have received a rating of "Good" from the Care Quality Commission, which reflects the standard of care we work hard to maintain day to day. It is something we do not take for granted, and we continue to reflect on how we can improve and respond to the people we support. If you are looking for home care in Uckfield or East Sussex for yourself or someone you care about, particularly if there is a learning disability or autism involved, we would be glad to have a conversation. We understand that choosing the right support is a significant decision, and we are here to answer questions and help you think through what might work best. Please do get in touch and we can talk through how we might be able to help.

    • Home Care

At Pride Community Healthcare, we provide home care support to people living in Bexhill on Sea and the surrounding areas of East Sussex. Our work centres on helping individuals remain in the comfort and familiarity of their own homes, with the right level of support to live as independently as possible. We work with older people, younger adults, and those living with dementia or a physical disability. Every person who comes to us has different needs, different routines, and different expectations of what good care looks like. We take time to understand that from the outset, building care arrangements that genuinely reflect the life someone wants to lead rather than fitting them into a one size fits all approach. Dementia care is an area we take particularly seriously. We understand how unsettling and confusing life can feel for someone living with dementia, and equally how much pressure falls on the people around them. Our team works to provide consistency and calm, building familiarity over time so that the people we support feel at ease with those coming into their home. For those living with a physical disability, whether younger or older, we focus on enabling rather than doing everything for someone. Where someone wants to maintain their independence in a particular area of their daily life, we work alongside them to support that. We are proud to hold a Good rating from the Care Quality Commission, which reflects the commitment our team brings to every visit. That rating matters to us not as a badge but as a prompt to keep improving and to keep listening. If you are exploring care options for yourself or someone close to you, we would welcome the chance to have a straightforward conversation about how we might help. We are based in Bexhill on Sea and are always happy to talk things through.

    • Home Care

We are Prestige Nursing in Eastbourne, supporting adults in their own homes across the town and the surrounding part of East Sussex. We support older people and people living with dementia, people with physical disabilities, people with a visual or hearing impairment, and younger adults who need help with daily life. In practice that means personal care, support with medication, meals, shopping and housework, help getting out to appointments, and the company that often matters as much as any task on a care plan. The point of what we do is to make staying in your own home a realistic option for as long as you want it, with help that fits around your life rather than replacing it. So we start by asking what somebody actually wants from us and what they would rather keep doing for themselves, and we revise that as things change. We also try to keep the same small group of workers going to the same person, because a familiar face makes the practical side easier and means changes in health get noticed early. We have not yet received an overall rating from the Care Quality Commission. Until we have, please ask us direct questions about recruitment, training, supervision and who you can reach out of hours.

Here at Onpoint Homecare, we provide care and support to people in their own homes across St Leonards on Sea and the surrounding areas of East Sussex. We work with older adults, younger adults, and people living with dementia, helping them to maintain their independence and feel comfortable in familiar surroundings. We know that inviting a care team into your home is a big decision, and we do not take that trust lightly. From the very first conversation, we take the time to understand what matters to each person, not just their care needs but their routines, preferences, and the small everyday things that make a difference to how someone feels. Care plans are built around the individual, and we keep them flexible because people's needs change over time. Our team is carefully selected and well supported. We look for people who are genuinely attentive and who take pride in doing things properly, whether that is helping someone start their morning with dignity, supporting a family carer who needs a break, or being a consistent and reassuring presence for someone living with dementia. We are proud to hold a Good rating from the Care Quality Commission, which reflects the feedback we receive from the people we support and their families. We do not see that as a reason to become complacent. We are always looking at how we can improve and listening to what the people in our care have to say. If you are considering home care for yourself or someone close to you, we would welcome the chance to have a chat. There is no pressure and no obligation. We are simply here to help you understand your options and to make sure that whatever support you receive genuinely fits around your life.

    • Home Care

Downlands Court is a home care agency in Peacehaven, supporting adults in their own homes across this part of East Sussex. We visit older people and younger adults, people living with dementia, people with a physical disability or a sensory impairment and people managing a mental health condition. Calls range from a short morning visit through to several a day, covering personal care, medication, meals, help to move about the home safely, shopping, appointments and company. Continuity is where we put most of our planning effort. Sending whoever happens to be nearest is easier to arrange and produces a procession of strangers arriving at the most personal moments of somebody's day. Building a small regular team around each person takes more work, and it means the person at the door knows the household and knows what the person is normally like. Support is agreed with the individual and with anyone they want involved, written in plain language and revisited as circumstances change. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you are arranging care at home locally, please get in touch and we will come out and talk it over.

FitzRoy Supported Living in Uckfield supports adults living with learning disabilities and autism in their own homes across the town and the surrounding parts of East Sussex, including people with physical disabilities and people with a visual or hearing impairment. Support at home should widen a life rather than manage it down, and that idea decides most of what we do. We begin with what a person wants their week to contain, what they can already do, where they would like to become more independent and where they genuinely need somebody alongside them. The plan follows from that, rather than starting with a list of tasks and fitting the person around it. Day to day our staff help with the ordinary business of running a home and a life. Cooking, shopping, money, appointments, travel, college, work and keeping up with family and friends, alongside personal care where it is needed. Communication is planned around each individual, because choice only becomes real when somebody is properly understood. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We welcome enquiries from people considering support, from families and from professionals.

Agincare UK Eastbourne provides care at home for people in Eastbourne and the surrounding parts of East Sussex. Our visits range from a short call to start the day through to several each day and longer periods of support, and the pattern is agreed with the person rather than handed to them. For older people we help with washing and dressing, medication, meals, laundry, shopping and getting out to appointments or to see friends. We also keep an eye on the wider picture, raising a fading appetite or new unsteadiness early rather than leaving a family to find out later. For people living with dementia we keep the same care workers visiting wherever the rota allows, work with the routine the household already has and avoid moving things about in a home somebody knows by heart. We support adults with a learning disability and autistic adults, where the emphasis is independence and communication that suits the person, and people with a physical disability who need help to move safely. Where there is sight or hearing loss we adapt how we communicate and always say who we are and what we are doing. Younger adults are supported around their own commitments. Our care workers are trained for the people they actually visit. Please ring us if you would like to talk about care at home here.

    • Home Care

We arrange and provide care at home in Eastbourne and the surrounding area, supporting older people, people living with dementia, people with mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities and people with visual or hearing impairments. A good deal of our work involves people whose circumstances are complicated, where what is needed is not only carers but somebody to put the whole arrangement together and keep an eye on it. That can mean assessing what support will actually help, organising it, working alongside health and therapy teams, and reviewing honestly whether it is doing what it was meant to do. Families often carry a great deal in these situations, and part of our job is to take some of that weight without taking over. Alongside that we provide the practical help itself: personal care, support with medication, meals, moving about safely and the ordinary business of keeping a household going. We try to keep the same staff with the same people, because familiarity is what allows somebody to notice when a person is unwell or not themselves. We do not yet hold an overall rating from the Care Quality Commission and are glad to discuss that openly. If you would like to talk about support at home for yourself or a relative, please get in touch.

We provide rehabilitation and care support in people's own homes in Eastbourne and the surrounding parts of East Sussex. A great deal of our work is about helping somebody regain what they can after illness, injury or a spell in hospital, so that home remains a realistic place to be. The people we support have a wide range of needs. Older adults who need help with personal care, medication, meals and getting safely about the house. People living with dementia, where familiarity and an unhurried manner do more good than anything else. People living with mental health conditions, where a steady relationship and early attention to changes count for most. People with physical disabilities, where our focus is often on regaining mobility and confidence rather than simply doing things for somebody. People with a visual or hearing impairment, where we adapt how we communicate. We also support people living with eating disorders and people affected by alcohol or drug misuse, without judgement, and younger adults whose weeks revolve around work, study and family. We keep the team around each person as small and consistent as we can manage. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We are registered with the Care Quality Commission and have not yet been given an overall rating. We would rather say so plainly and ask families to judge us on the practical measures: whether we arrive when we said, whether the same care workers keep coming back, and whether somebody who knows the situation answers the phone when something goes wrong. Our starting point is always how a person already manages. Most people have arranged their own days for decades and have firm views about what they want help with and what they would rather keep doing themselves, even when it takes longer. We fill in the gaps rather than reorganise a life that mostly works. If you are arranging care at home locally, please get in touch and we will come out and talk it over.

We begin by listening to the person and anyone they want present, work out what the day and the week actually need to look like, and write the plan around that. It may be a brief daily call, support with personal care, medication, meals and mobility, help with household tasks and shopping, or support to get out to appointments and to see people. Plans are reviewed when circumstances change, and we ask clients and families to tell us plainly when something is not working. We keep the same small team visiting each person wherever we can, and our carers are trained for the particular needs of the people they see. We do not yet hold an overall rating from the Care Quality Commission. We are registered with and regulated by them, and we are building the planning, training and oversight that a good rating properly requires.

We at Elden Path Healthcare are proud to offer compassionate home care across Eastbourne and the surrounding areas of East Sussex, supporting people to live well and safely within the comfort of their own homes. Based in the BN postcode area, our team works throughout Eastbourne and its neighbouring communities, bringing personalised support directly to the doorsteps of those who need it. Home care is about far more than practical assistance; it is about preserving the familiar routines, treasured memories, and personal comforts that make a house a home. Whether a loved one lives in a quiet residential street, a seafront flat, or a family bungalow, our carers arrive ready to fit gently into that environment, respecting the rhythms and preferences that make each household unique. Our specialisms reflect the breadth of needs we support across the community. We provide dedicated older person care, offering companionship, help with daily living, and the reassurance of a reliable, friendly presence. Our dementia care is delivered with patience and understanding, giving families peace of mind that their relative is being supported by carers who recognise the importance of consistency, gentle communication, and preserving dignity at every stage. For adults living with a physical disability, we tailor our support to promote independence, enabling individuals to manage their day on their own terms whilst having help exactly where and when it is needed. We also work with younger adults, recognising that care needs at any stage of life deserve a thoughtful, individualised approach that supports goals, relationships, and personal aspirations. In practice, this means families can expect care plans built around the person, not the diagnosis. It means carers who take the time to learn how someone likes their tea, which chair is their favourite, and which stories they enjoy sharing. It means clear communication with families, so that relatives near and far feel informed and involved in the care journey. Above all, it means treating every visit as an opportunity to make someone's day a little brighter, safer, and more comfortable. As a newer presence on the CareCompass directory, our profile currently shows a CQC rating of Not Yet Rated. This simply reflects that a formal inspection outcome has not yet been published, and it is not a reflection of the quality or dedication of the care we provide. We warmly encourage families to speak with us directly, ask questions, and learn about our approach, our team, and the standards we hold ourselves to every single day. Choosing home care is a deeply personal decision, and we understand the courage and thoughtfulness it takes to explore support for someone you love. If you are considering care in Eastbourne or the wider East Sussex area, we would be delighted to hear from you. Please get in touch to arrange a conversation, and let us show you how we can help your family feel supported, reassured, and confident about the road ahead.

    • Home Care

We at Quality healthcare Agency are proud to provide compassionate home care across Eastbourne and the surrounding East Sussex community, supporting people to live safely and comfortably in the place they know best: their own home. Based in the BN postcode area, our team travels throughout Eastbourne and nearby neighbourhoods, bringing personalised support directly to residents wherever they call home. Whether that is a family house, a bungalow, a flat, or sheltered accommodation, we adapt to each individual's environment, respecting the routines, memories, and comforts that make a home truly personal. Operating across the South East region means we understand the local community and the small touches that help people feel settled and supported. Our care is thoughtfully tailored to a broad range of needs. For older people, we offer gentle, dignified assistance with everyday living, from personal care and medication prompts to companionship and meal preparation. For those living with dementia, our approach is patient and reassuring, focusing on familiar routines, clear communication, and creating calm moments that reduce anxiety and preserve independence for as long as possible. We also support adults with learning disabilities and autism, working closely with each person to understand their preferences, sensory needs, and goals. Our aim is always to enable choice, build confidence, and encourage the skills that lead to a fuller, more independent life. For people managing mental health conditions, we provide steady, non judgemental support that helps promote wellbeing, structure, and connection with the wider community. Adults with physical disabilities receive practical, respectful assistance with mobility, personal care, and daily tasks, delivered in a way that puts the individual in charge of how their day unfolds. For those with visual or hearing impairments, we take care to communicate clearly and adapt our approach so that every interaction feels comfortable and understood. Younger adults, too, benefit from care shaped around their lifestyle, aspirations, and social needs, rather than a one size fits all model. For families, this breadth of expertise means peace of mind. You can trust that your loved one is being supported by carers who understand their specific condition, who listen carefully, and who treat every visit as an opportunity to build genuine relationships. We work in partnership with families, keeping lines of communication open so that you always feel informed and involved in the care being provided. Our commitment to quality is reflected in our latest Care Quality Commission inspection, published in July 2022, where we were rated Good overall. We also achieved a Good rating across all five key areas: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, and Well led. This independent recognition reassures families that our care meets national standards for safety, effectiveness, kindness, responsiveness, and strong leadership. For us, these ratings are not simply a benchmark but a reminder of the trust placed in us every day, and a foundation we continue to build upon. Choosing home care is a deeply personal decision, and we understand the courage and love behind that choice. If you are exploring options for yourself or a family member in Eastbourne, we warmly invite you to get in touch. We would be glad to listen, answer your questions, and help you understand how a bespoke care plan could support the person you love in the comfort of their own home.

    • Home Care

Nightingale Homecare provides support at home for people in Seaford and the surrounding part of East Sussex. The people we visit include older people, many of them living with dementia, as well as younger adults and people with sight or hearing loss. Everything begins with a proper conversation in your own home about your routine, your preferences and where help would make the biggest difference. Visits can cover personal care and medication, cooking, shopping and housework, getting out to appointments, or company for somebody who sees very few people in a week. Some people need one short call a day and others need several, or support overnight, and we are happy to start small and adjust as things change. Keeping the same carers visiting the same people is something we protect. Familiarity does more good than almost anything else we can offer, particularly for somebody living with dementia, and it means changes get noticed early by a carer who knows what normal looks like for that person. Where somebody has sight or hearing loss we take particular care over how we communicate. We are registered with the Care Quality Commission and we are glad to be asked about our training, our staffing and how we handle concerns. You should know who to ring and get a straight answer when you do. If you would like to talk about care at home in this area, please get in touch.

We provide care and support to people in their own homes across Eastbourne, Hailsham and the Weald. The people we work with include older people, younger adults, people living with dementia, people managing mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities and people with sight or hearing loss. Support belongs to the person receiving it. It is their home, their routine and their decision how help happens, and we fit around that rather than expecting the reverse. We visit first and take our time over the conversation, because what families assume is difficult and what the person finds difficult are often not the same thing. From that conversation we agree a plan, with family or an advocate involved whenever somebody wants them there, and we revise it as circumstances change rather than at fixed review dates. Visits cover personal care, medication, meals and drinks, housework and laundry, shopping, getting to appointments, and company for people whose days have grown quiet. For people living with dementia we keep the same small team visiting and work at their pace. Where somebody is managing a mental health condition we keep support consistent and work alongside their community team. Where sight or hearing is affected we think about how we announce ourselves. We cover both towns and a good deal of countryside, so we build rotas around real distances. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please get in touch to talk things through.

We at Eniola Care are proud to provide compassionate home care across Haywards Heath and the surrounding communities of East Sussex, supporting people to live safely and comfortably in the place they know best: their own home. Based in the RH postcode area, our team serves individuals and families throughout Haywards Heath and the wider region. Home care means care delivered where you already feel most at ease, surrounded by familiar belongings, cherished memories, and the routines that make a house a home. Whether visits are brief and practical or involve longer, more supportive stays, we work around the rhythm of each person's day rather than asking them to fit around ours. Our specialisms reflect the breadth of need we are here to meet. For older people, we offer gentle, respectful assistance with the everyday tasks that can gradually become more challenging, from personal care and medication support to companionship and help around the home. For those living with dementia, we take a patient and person centred approach, drawing on life history, preferences, and small comforts to reduce anxiety and support wellbeing. Families often tell us that consistency and kindness make the greatest difference during this journey, and that is precisely what we strive to offer. We also support adults with learning disabilities and autism, tailoring our approach to the individual and championing independence, choice, and community connection. For people managing mental health conditions, we provide reliable, non judgemental support that helps sustain daily routines and encourages recovery at each person's own pace. Our care extends to adults with physical disabilities, where we focus on enabling mobility, dignity, and confidence, and to those with visual or hearing impairments, adapting how we communicate and how we assist so that no one feels overlooked or unheard. Younger adults are welcome too. We understand that care needs do not follow a single age or story, and we work closely with each person and their loved ones to build a plan of support that respects their goals, interests, and aspirations. In practice, this means listening first, planning carefully, and remaining flexible as circumstances change. Eniola Care is currently listed as Not Yet Rated by the Care Quality Commission, with our most recent inspection activity recorded on 26 September 2024. A Not Yet Rated status simply means that a full published rating has not yet been issued, which is common for newer registrations and providers awaiting their first comprehensive inspection outcome. We remain fully registered with the CQC and are committed to meeting and exceeding the standards expected of us, welcoming the scrutiny that helps us continue to improve. If you are exploring home care in Haywards Heath for yourself or someone you love, we would be delighted to hear from you. Choosing care is a deeply personal decision, and we are happy to answer questions, talk through options, and take the time you need to feel confident about the next step. East Sussex Community Support is a home care agency based in Eastbourne, supporting people in their own homes across East Sussex. We work with older people who want to carry on living independently at home, and with younger adults, including adults who have a learning disability and autistic adults, who need the right support to build and keep a life of their own. What we do is set by the person rather than by a standard package. It may be a short morning call to help someone wash, dress and start the day safely. It may be support with medication, meals, shopping and household tasks. It may be support to get out to work, to college, to a club or to see family, or help to manage appointments and correspondence. Where someone wants to take on more for themselves, we step back at their pace and stay available. How we communicate is as important as what we do. We take time to learn how each person likes information given to them, how they tell us when something is wrong and what helps them feel settled when a day is difficult. Plans are agreed with the person, written plainly and reviewed when circumstances change. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. The measure we return to is whether the people we support have more choice and more control because we are involved.

Wealden Community Care provides support at home for people in Heathfield and across this part of East Sussex. We visit older people, including many living with dementia, as well as younger adults and people with a learning disability or autism, helping them to carry on living in the homes they know. We start with a proper conversation rather than a form. What does your day usually look like, which bits have become difficult, and what would you rather manage without anybody stepping in? Our plan comes from your answers, and we revisit it as things change in either direction. If somebody has regained confidence and needs less from us, we would rather say so than keep visits running out of habit. Visits can cover personal care, help with medication, cooking a meal, housework and shopping, support to get out and about, or simply company and conversation. We are a local team covering a rural area, which means we understand the practical realities of getting to people here and we plan accordingly. Keeping the same carers visiting the same people is something we protect, because familiarity does more good than almost anything else we can offer. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We regard it as the standard we are expected to hold and we keep asking families whether we are getting it right. If you would like to talk about care at home in this area, please ring us and we will explain the options honestly.

We at Dinarie are proud to provide compassionate home care across Battle and the surrounding East Sussex communities, supporting older people and younger adults to live well in the place they know best: their own home. Rooted in the historic market town of Battle within the TN postcode area, our team works throughout the local neighbourhoods and villages, bringing personalised support directly to the doorsteps of those who need it. Home care means the familiar surroundings of your loved one's own living room, their favourite armchair by the window, and the comfort of neighbours and memories close by. There is no upheaval, no unfamiliar environment to adjust to, just thoughtful care woven gently into the rhythm of everyday life. Our specialisms centre on older person care, home care, and support for younger adults, which means we are equipped to walk alongside people at very different stages of life. For an older relative, this might mean help with morning routines, medication reminders, preparing a warm meal, or simply the reassurance of a friendly face checking in. For a younger adult, our approach is shaped around independence, encouraging confidence and offering the practical support needed to pursue the life they want to lead. In every case, we take time to understand each person as an individual, listening carefully to families so that the care we provide reflects genuine preferences, routines, and values. The Care Quality Commission awarded Dinarie an overall rating of Good at its most recent inspection, with Good ratings across the Safe, Effective, Caring, and Responsive domains. This independent recognition reflects our commitment to delivering care that is kind, skilled, and centred on the people we support. The Well-led domain was rated as Requires Improvement, and we take that feedback seriously, viewing it as a valuable opportunity to strengthen our leadership and governance so that every aspect of what we do matches the warmth our care team brings each day. Choosing home care is a deeply personal decision, and we understand the weight families carry when weighing up the right support for someone they love. If you would like to learn more about how we could help your family in Battle or the wider East Sussex area, we warmly invite you to get in touch. We at Joint Community Rehabilitation Service are proud to offer compassionate home care across Bexhill On Sea and the surrounding East Sussex community, supporting people to live well and independently in the place they know best: their own home. Based in the coastal town of Bexhill On Sea, our team travels throughout the local area to bring personalised care directly to residents' doorsteps. Being rooted in this part of the South East means we understand the rhythm of local life, the value of familiar surroundings, and the comfort that comes from receiving support in a place filled with personal memories and belongings. For many of the people we support, remaining at home, close to neighbours, family and cherished routines, is central to their wellbeing, and we work hard to make that possible. Our care is broad in scope, allowing us to walk alongside people through many different stages and circumstances of life. We provide dedicated older person care and home care for those who need a helping hand with daily living, whether that is support with personal care, medication, mobility or simply the reassurance of a regular, friendly visit. For people living with dementia, we offer patient, person centred support that focuses on preserving dignity, encouraging independence and easing the worries that families often carry. We also support younger adults and those living with physical disabilities, visual or hearing impairments, and we provide care for people managing mental health conditions, eating disorders, or the challenges of alcohol or drug misuse. Because our support spans such a wide range of needs, we are able to tailor each care plan to the individual rather than fitting people into a set routine. For families, this means peace of mind that a loved one is being seen as a whole person, with their preferences, history and goals shaping the care they receive day by day. In practice, this looks like consistent, respectful visits from a team who take the time to build genuine relationships. It looks like communication with family members, sensitivity to changing needs, and a rehabilitation focused approach that encourages people to regain or maintain skills and confidence wherever possible. Whether someone is returning home after a hospital stay, adjusting to a new diagnosis, or simply needing a little more support than before, we aim to help them feel steady, safe and heard. Families can also take reassurance from our Care Quality Commission rating. We are rated Good overall, with Good ratings across every one of the five key areas the CQC assesses: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well led. This independent recognition, from our most recent inspection in April 2020, reflects the standards we hold ourselves to in every home we enter, from the safety of the care we deliver to the responsiveness of our team and the leadership that supports them. Choosing home care for yourself or someone you love is a significant decision, and we understand the weight of that choice. If you are exploring options in Bexhill On Sea or the wider East Sussex area, we would be glad to speak with you, answer your questions, and help you understand how thoughtful, professional support at home could make a real difference. The Joint Community Rehabilitation service supports people at home in Lewes and the surrounding parts of East Sussex, usually for a short period and usually at a point of change. Much of our work follows a hospital stay, a fall or a spell of illness, and the aim is to help somebody get back to managing for themselves rather than to take over. That means we work towards doing less over time, not more. We help with personal care, medication, meals and the practical running of a home while a person rebuilds confidence, and we encourage them to take things back on at a pace that is safe. Where longer term support is needed we say so and help arrange it. We support older people, people living with dementia, adults with mental health needs, those with a physical disability and people living with sight or hearing loss. We also work with people living with eating disorders and people affected by alcohol or drug dependency, always alongside the health professionals involved. We work closely with therapists, district nurses and doctors, because short term support only achieves anything if everybody is pulling in the same direction. Please get in touch if you would like to know more about what we do and how support is arranged.

We provide care at home in Bexhill, Hastings and across Rother. Those we visit include older adults, people living with dementia, people managing mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities, people living with sight or hearing loss, and younger adults. Short calls are the commonest false economy in this work. We plan longer visits and fewer of them, because being rushed undoes most of the benefit. We also pay attention to what happens between our visits, since that is most of a person's day. Are the tablets within reach. Is there something in the fridge they can manage alone. Has the post piled up. Those are usually what decides whether somebody is coping or quietly struggling, and our carers are asked to notice and say so. If a carer is going to be late we ring ahead. Somebody waiting to be helped out of bed deserves to know rather than to wonder. We ask the people we visit for their view of us regularly, and we treat a reluctance to complain as a reason to ask more carefully. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We treat it as a baseline rather than a finish.

We are Caring 4 All, and we support older people in their own homes in Hailsham and the surrounding parts of East Sussex. We do one thing and we try to do it properly: helping people carry on living at home for as long as that is what they want. That means help with the everyday business of getting through the day. Getting up and dressed, a bath or a shower, medication taken on time, a proper meal cooked, the shopping fetched, the laundry done, a lift to the surgery. It also means company, which is not a soft extra. Loneliness does real harm, and a care worker who sits down for a cup of tea, looks at the photographs and remembers what was said last week is doing something genuinely useful. We keep the same care workers with the same households wherever we can, because familiarity is what builds trust, and if we are running late we ring rather than leaving somebody watching the window. Everything starts with a visit and a proper conversation at home, and the plan is written with the person and reviewed honestly. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please get in touch for an unhurried conversation.

    • Home Care

Vine House Care provides support in people's own homes in St Leonards on Sea and across East Sussex. Most of the people we visit are older and want to carry on living in a house full of their own things and their own habits, and our role is to make that practical. Our visits cover personal care, help with dressing and washing, medication, meals, shopping and the household jobs that become awkward when mobility or memory falters. We support people living with dementia, people with a physical disability, people whose sight or hearing is impaired and younger adults needing support at home. Familiarity is something we protect. We keep a small team around each person so that the face at the door is a known one, which matters particularly in dementia care and means our carers notice quickly when something has changed. We always start with a visit and an unhurried conversation, usually with family present if that is what the person wants. The plan we write is in plain language, agreed rather than imposed, and revisited as things move on. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you are weighing up care at home along this part of the coast, do ring and we will talk it through.

    • Home Care

Candlelight Homecare in East Sussex provides care and support to people in their own homes, working from Heathfield and covering the surrounding area. The people we work with include older people, younger adults, people living with dementia, people with learning disabilities, autistic people, people managing mental health conditions or an eating disorder, people with physical disabilities or with sight or hearing loss, and people dealing with problems related to alcohol or drugs. That is a wide range of need, and what holds it together is that we start from the person rather than from a package we happen to offer. We visit first, listen properly, and agree what help is wanted, how often and who will provide it, with family or an advocate involved whenever somebody wants them there. Reliability is the substance of this work. Arriving when we said we would, with somebody who already knows the household, is worth more than anything we could claim here. So we keep teams small and local, brief staff properly before they start with somebody new, and avoid unannounced substitutions. Where a person's needs call for particular knowledge, whether that is recovery from addiction, an eating disorder, advanced dementia or a way of communicating that is not speech, we make sure the people visiting understand it and we work alongside the relevant clinical and community teams. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please get in touch to talk things through.

Kind Hands provides care at home for people living in Eastbourne and the surrounding parts of East Sussex. Our purpose is to make staying at home comfortable and safe, with support that fits into an existing life rather than reorganising it. We visit older people who need a hand with personal care, medication, meals, mobility or the everyday jobs that become harder before anything else does. We support people living with dementia, where familiar rooms and familiar faces do a great deal on their own. We also work with people managing mental health conditions, people living with a physical disability, people with sight or hearing loss, and younger adults who want support that keeps them independent. Everything starts with a proper conversation about how somebody likes their day to run and what they would rather manage themselves. We review support as needs change, keep families informed where that is wanted, and plan for continuity rather than leaving it to chance. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is Good. If you are thinking about care at home in this part of East Sussex, please call us. We will come out, talk it through with the person who will actually receive the support, and give you a straight answer about what we can do.

    • Home Care

We are APC Care, a home care agency based in Hailsham in East Sussex. We support older people and younger adults in their own homes, including people living with dementia. Home care succeeds or fails on details that look minor from the outside. Whether the carer arrives when they said they would. Whether it is the same carer. Whether they know that the kettle is awkward, that the cat needs letting out, that a particular subject is best left alone this week. We spend our effort on getting those right, because the technical parts of care are the easier half of the job. With dementia, continuity is not a nicety. A familiar person at the door is the difference between a visit that works and one that ends with everyone upset. We arrange our rotas around that as far as we possibly can, and we accept the extra work it makes for us. We also try to be honest with families from the start about what a package of visits can and cannot achieve. That conversation is sometimes uncomfortable and it saves a great deal of difficulty later. Support is reviewed as needs change, which they do. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.

    • Home Care

We are Everycare Hastings, a home care agency supporting people across St Leonards on Sea and the wider East Sussex coast. Our work happens in the places people know best, in their own front rooms, kitchens and gardens, and we think that matters. Staying at home should not mean managing alone, and it should not mean giving up the routines that make a day feel like your own. We support older people who need a hand with washing, dressing, medication or meals, and we visit as often as the situation asks for, whether that is a short morning call or several visits through the day. We also work with adults living with dementia, where familiar surroundings and a familiar face at the door can settle a difficult morning, and we support younger adults and people with a learning disability or autism who want to live independently with the right backing behind them. Every package of care we arrange starts with a conversation. We ask what a good day looks like, what someone would rather do for themselves, and where family already fills the gaps. From there we build something practical, and we review it honestly as needs change. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We are pleased with that, and we treat it as a standard to keep meeting rather than a finished piece of work. If you are weighing up care at home for yourself or someone close to you, we are happy to talk it through without any pressure.

At Grandbay Healthcare, we provide home care to people living in Eastbourne and the surrounding areas of East Sussex. Our work centres on supporting individuals in the place that matters most to them — their own home — where they can maintain their routines, their independence and their sense of self. We work with older adults, younger adults and people living with physical disabilities. Every person we support has different needs and different priorities, so we take time at the outset to understand what genuinely matters to each individual, not just what assistance they require practically but how they want to live day to day. That shapes everything we do. Home care done well is about more than showing up and completing tasks. It is about building trust with the people we visit and with their families. We know that inviting someone into your home requires confidence in who is coming through the door, and we take that responsibility seriously. Our team works hard to ensure that the support we provide is consistent, respectful and attentive. Eastbourne is our community. We understand the local area, we know its people, and we are committed to being a care provider that this community can rely on. Whether someone needs a short visit each day or more substantial support throughout the week, we aim to provide care that fits around their life rather than asking them to fit around us. We are registered with the Care Quality Commission and continue to work toward the standards we hold ourselves to as a team. If you are considering home care for yourself or for someone close to you and would like to have an honest conversation about what we can offer, we would be very glad to hear from you.

Morecare supports adults in their own homes across Crowborough and the surrounding parts of East Sussex. The people we visit are a varied group. Older people and those living with dementia, adults with a learning disability or autism, people living with mental health needs, adults with a physical disability and younger adults building a life of their own. We also support people living with an eating disorder, working calmly and without confrontation and alongside the specialist health teams involved rather than in parallel to them. We plan individually because that range makes a standard package close to meaningless. We ask how someone's day works now, what they still manage, what has become difficult and what they would rather we left alone in their own home. Consistency is what we protect hardest. Support is a relationship as much as a list of tasks, and a familiar carer notices changes early and adapts without making anything of them. For people living with dementia that is the whole basis of a visit going well. For those living with mental health needs we watch for early shifts rather than waiting for a crisis. This is a fairly rural area, so travel goes into the rota rather than coming out of anyone's time. If you are considering care at home here, please get in touch and we will come and see you.

We at FT Care Agency Domiciliary Care Service Hastings are proud to offer compassionate home care across East Sussex, supporting older people, younger adults, and individuals living with a wide range of needs to remain safe and comfortable in the place they know best, their own home. As a domiciliary care provider based in the TN postcode area, we bring our support directly to residents throughout the local community. Rather than asking individuals to adjust to an unfamiliar setting, we step into the familiar surroundings of home, where memories live in every room and routines bring a quiet sense of comfort. This approach allows the people we support to maintain their independence, stay connected to their neighbourhoods, and continue enjoying the rhythms of daily life that matter most to them. Our team supports adults with a broad spectrum of care needs. We provide specialised older person care for those who simply need a helping hand with everyday tasks, alongside dedicated dementia care for individuals navigating memory loss and cognitive change. We understand that dementia affects not only the person living with it but the whole family, and our approach centres on patience, consistency, and gentle reassurance. For those living with mental health conditions, we offer thoughtful, non judgemental support that respects each person's journey and promotes wellbeing at a pace that feels right for them. We also support adults with physical disabilities, working closely with each individual to understand their preferences, mobility needs, and personal goals. Whether assistance is required with personal care, meal preparation, medication prompts, or simply companionship through the day, our carers approach every visit with respect and dignity. For residents living with visual or hearing impairments, we adapt our communication and support styles to ensure everyone feels heard, understood, and genuinely involved in decisions about their own care. Younger adults navigating long term conditions or transitions to independent living will find a team ready to listen, encourage, and provide the practical support that helps life flow more smoothly. Choosing home care is often a significant decision for families, and we recognise the weight of that choice. As a newly registered provider, our CQC rating is currently listed as Not Yet Rated, which simply reflects that a full inspection has yet to take place. We welcome the opportunity to demonstrate our standards through the warmth, professionalism, and consistency of the care we provide every day, and we are happy to discuss our approach, policies, and practices openly with any family considering our support. If you are exploring home care options in East Sussex for a loved one, or for yourself, we would be glad to hear from you. A conversation costs nothing, and it may bring the clarity and reassurance you have been searching for. Please reach out to learn how we can help your family take the next step with confidence and peace of mind.

We at Care Direct Recruitment are proud to offer compassionate home care across St. Leonards-on-sea and the surrounding East Sussex communities, supporting individuals to live well and independently within the comfort of their own homes. Operating from the TN postcode area, our team is rooted in the local community along the South East coast. Rather than asking those we support to adjust to a new environment, we come to them, delivering thoughtful care within the familiar surroundings of home where memories live, routines feel natural, and loved ones are close at hand. This local presence means our carers understand the neighbourhood, the pace of life here, and the value of continuity for each person we visit. Our specialism covers a broad spectrum of needs, ensuring that families have a trusted point of contact as circumstances change over time. We provide dedicated older person care, supporting individuals with the everyday tasks that help maintain dignity and confidence at home. For those living with dementia, our approach is patient and person centred, focusing on gentle routines, reassurance, and meaningful connection that can ease anxiety for both the individual and their family. We also support adults living with mental health conditions, offering a steady, non judgemental presence that promotes wellbeing and stability. Our experience with physical disability means we are well placed to assist with mobility, personal care, and the practical aspects of daily living, always working in partnership with the person to encourage as much independence as possible. Younger adults benefit from a tailored approach that respects their goals, lifestyle, and aspirations, recognising that good care looks different at every stage of life. In practice, this breadth of expertise means families can plan with confidence. Whether the need is a short visit each day, more comprehensive support, or specialist care for complex conditions, we work closely with relatives to build a package that genuinely fits. We listen first, taking the time to understand preferences, history, and hopes, before agreeing a plan that feels right for everyone involved. As a newer presence on the CQC register, our profile is currently marked as Not Yet Rated. This simply reflects that a full inspection has not taken place at this stage, and it should not be read as a comment on the standard of care provided. We remain fully committed to the fundamental standards set by the regulator and welcome the opportunity to demonstrate our practice when inspection takes place. In the meantime, we are happy to speak openly with families about our approach, our team, and the safeguards we have in place. Choosing home care is a significant decision, and we understand the weight that families carry when exploring options for someone they love. If you would like to learn more about how we could support your relative in St. Leonards-on-sea or the wider East Sussex area, please do reach out for an informal conversation. • Home Care

Pronsahe Health Care is a home care agency in Hailsham, supporting adults in their own homes across the area. We work with older people and with younger adults. What happens on a visit depends entirely on the person. For some it is help to wash, dress and get the day started, which is enough to make the rest of the day possible. For others it is several calls covering medication, meals, help to move safely about the house, shopping and getting to appointments. We are registered with the Care Quality Commission and have not yet been given an overall rating. We prefer to say that openly and would encourage anyone considering us to meet the manager and ask for references. Our view is that care at home should fit around a life that already exists rather than replace it. People have their own routines and clear opinions about what they want help with and what they would rather keep doing themselves, even when it takes longer. We ask first, agree the detail and write it down in ordinary language. If you are arranging support at home locally, please get in touch.

    • Home Care

We at CareStaff24 Hastings Office are proud to provide compassionate home care across Hastings and the wider East Sussex community, supporting people to live well and safely in the place they know best: their own home. Based in the heart of Hastings within the TN postcode area, our team is well positioned to reach those living throughout the town and surrounding South East coastal communities. Being local matters to us. It means our carers understand the area, can respond promptly, and can build genuine, lasting relationships with the people we visit. Whether a family lives near the seafront, the Old Town, or further inland, we aim to bring warmth, reliability, and consistency to every doorstep we attend. Our specialism lies in delivering tailored home care that adapts to each person we support. We assist older people who value their independence but appreciate a helping hand with daily routines, personal care, medication prompts, or simply companionship through the day. For those living with dementia, our approach is patient and unhurried, focusing on familiar routines, gentle reassurance, and the kind of consistent presence that helps reduce confusion and anxiety. Families tell us that knowing a trusted carer is visiting brings enormous peace of mind, particularly when a loved one feels safest in their own surroundings. We also support adults living with physical disabilities, providing practical assistance with mobility, personal care, and daily tasks in a way that respects dignity and promotes as much independence as possible. For individuals with visual or hearing impairments, our carers take time to communicate clearly, adapt to preferred methods of interaction, and ensure that sensory needs are never overlooked. Younger adults who require support are equally welcomed; we recognise that care is not solely the preserve of later life, and we work hard to tailor our approach to each person's age, lifestyle, and personal goals. What this means in practice is care that fits around the individual rather than the other way round. A morning visit might involve help getting up, washed, and dressed, followed by breakfast and a friendly chat. Later in the day, a carer may return to assist with a meal, medication, or a short walk. Every care plan is shaped in conversation with the person receiving care and, where appropriate, their family, so that preferences, routines, and small comforts are honoured. Continuity is something we take seriously, because familiar faces build trust, and trust is the foundation of good home care. As a newer presence in the area, we have not yet received a Care Quality Commission rating. Rather than seeing this as a gap, we view it as an opportunity to demonstrate from day one what good, person centred care looks like. We are fully registered with the CQC and committed to operating to the standards expected of every regulated provider in England. We welcome open conversations with families about how we work, our recruitment and training practices, and the safeguards we have in place to protect the people in our care. Choosing home care is a deeply personal decision, and we know how much thought goes into finding the right team to welcome through the front door. If you are exploring options for yourself or a loved one in Hastings or the surrounding TN area, we would be glad to talk things through at your pace, answer any questions, and arrange a no obligation conversation about how we might help. Whatever stage you are at in your search, please do reach out. We are here to listen, to reassure, and to support your family in finding the care that feels right.

We are Caremark Hastings and Rother, a home care agency based in St Leonards on Sea and working across Hastings, Rother and the surrounding parts of East Sussex. Our care is delivered at home, in the place people know best. We support older adults, people living with dementia, adults with a physical disability and younger adults. Visits might involve help with washing and dressing, support with medication, cooking a meal, light housework, shopping, getting to appointments, or simply company for an hour. For people living with dementia we try to keep the same workers visiting at the same times, because that familiarity is often the most useful thing we provide. We also understand how much is carried by husbands, wives, sons and daughters who are doing the caring themselves. Arranging regular visits so that a family carer can rest or get on with something else is a legitimate reason to call us, and a common one. Care is agreed with the person before it starts, written down in plain terms, and reviewed when circumstances change. If something is not working, we would much rather be told early than find out late. We are registered with the Care Quality Commission and have not yet received an overall rating. If you would like to talk about care at home in Hastings or Rother, please get in touch and we will arrange a visit to discuss it.

Apex Prime Care supports people in their own homes in Hastings and the surrounding part of East Sussex. Our visits go to older people and to younger adults, to people living with dementia, to people with physical disabilities, to people managing mental health conditions or an eating disorder, and to people dealing with problems related to alcohol or drugs. That is a wide brief, and it only works because we plan each arrangement properly. We find out what the person wants to be able to do, where support actually helps, what they would rather we left alone, and who else is already involved. Visits are then built around that and reviewed as things change, rather than being left to drift until something goes wrong. We keep the group of people visiting any one household as small and as regular as we can manage. Familiarity matters everywhere in this work, and it matters especially where communication is difficult, where a routine has to be followed closely, or where trust has taken a long time to build. It also means somebody notices promptly when a person is not themselves. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission was good. If you are arranging care for yourself or a relative, we will tell you honestly whether we can cover the times and the area you need, and we would rather decline than take on work we cannot do properly.

    • Home Care

The William and Patrica Venton Centre supports people living in and around Eastbourne, East Sussex, in their own homes. We work with older people and younger adults, with people living with dementia, and with people managing mental health conditions. Home care is at its best when it is quiet and unremarkable. Someone arrives at the time they said, helps with what needs doing, has a proper conversation rather than a rushed one, and leaves the person better set up for the rest of the day. Very little of that is complicated. Most of it is a matter of organisation, decent staff and taking the time to find out how each person wants things done. We support people with personal care, with medication, with meals, and with the practical things that make it possible to stay at home and stay connected to the people and places that matter. For people living with dementia, and for those living with mental ill health, continuity of carer is particularly important to us, because trust is built slowly and lost quickly. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We are glad to talk through options with families who are still weighing things up.

Coast Community Care provides care and support in people's own homes across Bexhill on Sea and the surrounding part of East Sussex. We work with older adults, younger adults, people living with dementia, people with learning disabilities and autistic people, people with physical disabilities or loss of sight or hearing, and people managing mental health conditions, eating disorders, or difficulties with alcohol and drugs. We should be open about our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission, which is requires improvement. We would rather say it plainly here. We know which areas were identified, we have a plan of work under way covering staff training and supervision, the quality of our records, and how we communicate with people and their families, and we are glad to go through the detail with anyone considering us. The work itself goes on and it has to be done well. Covering such a range of needs means a template is useless, so we sit down with each person, find out where help is genuinely needed, and build the visits from there. We keep the same carers with the same households wherever the rota allows. Please contact us and ask us whatever you need to ask.

Care To You Healthcare provides care and support to people in their own homes in Bexhill on Sea and across East Sussex. The people we work with include older people, younger adults, people living with dementia, people with learning disabilities, autistic people, people managing mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities or with sight or hearing loss, and people dealing with difficulties around alcohol or drugs. That is a wide range of need, and what holds it together is that we start from the person rather than from a package we happen to offer. We visit first, listen properly, and agree what help is wanted, how often and who will provide it, with family or an advocate involved whenever somebody wants them there. Reliability is the substance of this work. Arriving when we said we would, with somebody who already knows the household, matters more than anything we could claim here. So we keep teams small and local, brief staff properly before they start with somebody new, and avoid unannounced substitutions. Where a person's needs call for particular knowledge, whether that is recovery from addiction, advanced dementia, a mental health condition or a way of communicating that is not speech, we make sure the people visiting understand it and we work alongside the relevant community teams rather than around them. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please get in touch if you would like to talk about support for yourself or a relative.

We provide care in people's own homes in Lewes and the surrounding parts of East Sussex. Our work is to give people enough help to carry on living in their own houses, delivered by carers they know. We support people living with dementia, where familiar faces and a settled routine count for a great deal, adults who have a learning disability, autistic adults, people with a physical disability, including safe help with moving and transfers, and people whose sight or hearing is impaired. Where sight or hearing is impaired, consistency is everything. We keep belongings exactly where people expect them, we say who we are and what we are about to do before we do it, and we check that we have actually been understood rather than assuming so. We keep teams small around each person so the face at the door is a known one, and because our carers know people well they notice early when something has changed. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please get in touch to talk it through.

    • Home Care

Apex Prime Care in Newhaven provides support in people's own homes across Newhaven and the surrounding part of East Sussex. We work with older people, people living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities, autistic adults, people managing mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities, people living with sight or hearing loss, and younger adults. Our first meeting is a conversation rather than an assessment. What has genuinely become difficult? What do you still manage and would rather we left alone? What would take the most pressure off this week? Times and tasks come from those answers, because a plan written the other way round describes a category rather than a person. The work covers personal care, medication, meals, mobility, household jobs, shopping, appointments and unhurried company. For some of the people we support it is different again: somebody alongside them at college, at work, at a group or on the bus into town. Continuity is what we work hardest at. We keep the same small team around each person, give proper notice before anything changes, and hold to what we agreed even when a rota would rather we did not. For autistic people especially, knowing what is coming is a large part of what makes support workable at all. The Care Quality Commission rated us good at our most recent inspection, and we keep asking the households we visit what needs to be better.

    • Home Care

We provide Bluebird Care across Lewes district from our base in Newhaven, supporting people in their own homes. Most of our work is with older adults, a good number living with dementia. We also support younger adults, people with a physical disability, and people who are blind, partially sighted, deaf or hard of hearing. We think the length of a visit matters more than most agencies admit. A rushed call is not a cheaper version of a proper one, it is a different and much less useful thing. Somebody hurried through a wash, handed a sandwich and left to it has been processed rather than helped. So we plan visits with enough time to do the job without anybody being chivvied along, and we would rather turn work away than take on more than we can deliver that way. Where dementia is involved we take our lead from the family, who already know which words work and which part of the day is difficult. Where sight or hearing has gone we agree in advance how we will announce ourselves at the door, and we say what we are about to do before we do it. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Ring us and we will come out and listen before suggesting anything.

Helping Hands Eastbourne provides care to people in their own homes in Eastbourne and the surrounding part of East Sussex. We support older people, people living with dementia, people with a physical disability, people with a visual or hearing impairment and younger adults. Most enquiries reach us at an awkward moment, often after a fall or when an arrangement a family has been holding together has finally stopped working. The first useful thing we can do is slow the conversation down and work out what is genuinely needed, which is sometimes less than people fear and sometimes rather more than they have been willing to admit. From there we plan the visits around the person instead of around our rota, asking what time they actually want to get up, which tasks they want to keep doing themselves and who should be contacted when something changes. We keep the same carers going to the same households wherever we can, because a familiar face does work that no amount of training replaces. Where sight or hearing is poor we adapt our communication properly. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.

Arranging and funding home care in East Sussex

How a package of visits is built

Care at home is purchased in blocks of time, which means support is arranged around particular points in the day rather than provided continuously. Many households start with a morning call covering washing, dressing and medication, then add a teatime or bedtime visit as needs increase. Others buy something quite different, such as a weekly visit for bathing or a longer session that lets a family carer leave the house with an easy mind. Because the arrangement is made of parts, it can be enlarged, reduced or retimed without anybody having to move.

Making sense of the ratings

Every agency on this page is registered with the Care Quality Commission, and each profile carries the current rating together with the report behind it. Ratings combine five judgements covering safety, effectiveness, care, responsiveness and leadership, so a provider rated Good overall can still be weaker in the area that matters most to you. Those holding Outstanding have been found to exceed what is expected in at least one of those areas, which is worth reading about properly. Where an agency sits at Requires Improvement, the report will name the problem, and the manager should be able to explain what has changed since the visit.

What separates a good agency from an adequate one

East Sussex covers a lot of ground, so the first practical question is whether an agency genuinely serves your village or street rather than the county in general. Continuity comes next: ask how many different carers would visit in a fortnight and whether rotas are shared before the week starts. Ask what the agency treats as a late call, who telephones when one happens, and which number reaches a real person on a Sunday evening. Where travel between rural addresses is involved, ask how that affects visit times in practice.

Choosing between home care agencies in East Sussex

Requesting a care needs assessment

Any adult who appears to need help at home can ask for a care needs assessment, and there is no charge for it whatever their savings. The assessor talks through an ordinary day rather than a medical history, covering personal care, meals, medication, moving about indoors and coping alone at night. The result is a written record of eligible needs that underpins everything afterwards. Requests go to East Sussex County Council adult social care, and a relative providing regular unpaid help can ask for a carer's assessment of their own.

How the cost is shared

Having eligible needs does not automatically mean the council pays. A financial assessment considers income, savings and capital, and from it comes a decision on whether the council funds the package, shares the cost, or treats the person as a self funder. Those who qualify can take a direct payment and choose their own agency from this listing instead of accepting a commissioned provider. Anyone paying privately is still entitled to information and advice from the council.

Reaching a realistic weekly figure

Visiting care is charged by the hour or by the visit, so the weekly total depends on how often carers come and how long they stay. Minimum call lengths, travel charges and weekend uplifts can separate two apparently similar quotes, so ask for the full rate card in writing. Check the notice needed to cancel or move a visit, and compare any live in quote against the whole cost of several daily calls rather than against an hourly rate.

Frequently asked questions about home care in East Sussex

Which agencies provide home care in East Sussex?

107 home care agencies are registered to work across East Sussex and every one is listed on this page. They include Curant Care, Dinarie, Home Instead, Hand To Hand Care Ltd and Care To You Healthcare Limited, all currently rated Good. Others sit at Requires Improvement, and some newer providers such as Witham Community Care Limited have not yet been rated. Each agency defines its own coverage area, so checking profiles is the only reliable way to see who serves your address.

What should I ask an East Sussex home care agency?

Start by confirming the agency actually covers your address rather than the wider county, because coverage across East Sussex is patchy. Ask how many different carers would visit over a fortnight and whether you receive the rota in advance. Establish what happens when a carer is delayed or unwell, how quickly cover is found, and who answers the telephone outside office hours. Request the full rate card in writing so weekend rates, travel charges and cancellation terms are clear from the outset.

Is home care different from moving into a care home?

Home care brings carers to a person's own address for agreed visits covering personal care, meals, medication and company, while the household carries on as it is. A residential care home provides a room with staff on site day and night, and a nursing home adds registered nurses for needs requiring clinical oversight. Support at home suits situations where the help needed falls into predictable periods and the property remains safe to live in. Once assistance is needed unpredictably or overnight risk rises, residential or nursing care is usually the safer option.

Can East Sussex County Council help pay for home care?

East Sussex County Council can contribute towards home care costs once a care needs assessment has identified eligible needs. A financial assessment then reviews income, savings and capital, and the outcome determines whether the council funds the package in full, shares the cost, or classes the person as a self funder. Anyone eligible can request a direct payment and choose an agency from this listing themselves. Those funding their own care can still approach the council for advice on arranging it.

How do I arrange a care needs assessment in East Sussex?

Ask East Sussex County Council adult social care for a care needs assessment, by telephone or through the referral route on its website. The request can be made by the person needing care or, with their consent, by a relative, GP or hospital discharge team. Keeping a brief note beforehand of the times of day that have become difficult gives the assessor something concrete to work from. A relative providing regular unpaid care is entitled to ask for a carer's assessment alongside it.

How soon should we start arranging care at home?

For planned support, allowing a few weeks leaves time to compare agencies, read inspection reports and meet a coordinator before the first visit. Assessments and financial checks both take time, and rural parts of East Sussex can have fewer agencies able to take on new work at the hours you want. Hospital discharges move much faster, so if an admission looks likely it helps to have shortlisted providers already. Keeping two or three options in reserve stops a sudden change forcing a rushed decision.
