Home Care in Essex 475 home care agencies · 270 rated Good by CQC

Support delivered inside a person's own home is what all 475 home care agencies listed for Essex have in common, though very little else about them is identical. Ratings across that group include Outstanding and Good, alongside agencies rated Requires Improvement and others holding no rating because the Care Quality Commission has not yet inspected them. Essex County Council is responsible for the care needs assessment that establishes what help is required and how often, and for the financial assessment that determines how much of the cost is met from public funds rather than by the family. Either can be requested regardless of income or savings. Because agencies build their rounds around geography, registration in the county is no guarantee that a particular street is covered, so ask that question before anything else. Then open the profile of each agency still under consideration, read the inspection report that lies behind its rating, and let the findings there decide which one you approach first.

    • Home Care

Here at Beehive Lane, we provide home care to people across Chelmsford and the surrounding areas of Essex. Our work takes us into the homes of the people we support, which we think is exactly where good care should start — in familiar surroundings, with routines and comforts already in place. We support a wide range of people, including older adults, younger adults, and those living with a learning disability or autism, mental health conditions, physical disabilities, or a visual or hearing impairment. No two people we work with are quite the same, and we do not treat them as though they are. We take time to understand what matters to each individual and build support around that. We are proud to hold a Good rating from the Care Quality Commission, which reflects the consistency and reliability we aim to bring to every visit. It means a great deal to us, not simply as a measure of compliance, but as a signal to the people we support and their families that they are in safe, thoughtful hands. Home care, when it is done well, can make an enormous difference to someone's independence and quality of life. People often tell us that being able to stay in their own home, on their own terms, is one of the things that matters most to them. We take that seriously, and we do our best every day to make that possible. If you are looking into care options for yourself or someone close to you, we would be very happy to have a conversation. There is no pressure, and we will always be straightforward with you about what we can offer. You are welcome to get in touch with us here in Chelmsford at any time.

    • Home Care

Here at Care Quality Maldon, we provide home care support to people living in Basildon and the surrounding areas of Essex. Our work takes place where it matters most, in the homes of the people we support, and we believe that is exactly where good care should begin. We work with a wide range of individuals, including people living with dementia, learning disabilities and autism, mental health conditions, physical disabilities, and visual or hearing impairments. We also support people who are managing alcohol or drug misuse, and we approach every situation with honesty, respect, and without judgement. We are pleased that our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us as Good. That reflects the everyday efforts of our team, who show up consistently and take their responsibilities seriously. It is not something we take for granted, and we continue to reflect on how we can keep improving the experience of every person we support. What we try to hold onto, above all else, is the understanding that each person coming to us has their own story, their own preferences, and their own way of living. Our role is to fit around that, not the other way around. Whether someone needs support for a few hours a week or more intensive day to day assistance, we work with them and their families to build a care arrangement that genuinely suits their life. We know that inviting someone into your home requires trust, and we do not take that lightly. From the very first conversation, we aim to be straightforward, transparent, and easy to talk to. If you are exploring care options for yourself or someone you love, we would welcome the chance to have an honest conversation about how we might be able to help.

    • Home Care

Nurseplus in Rayleigh is a home care agency supporting people in their own homes across Rayleigh and the surrounding parts of Essex. We work with older people, adults living with dementia, people with a learning disability or autism, those managing a mental health condition or an eating disorder, people with a physical disability, people living with a visual or hearing impairment, and adults working through problems with alcohol or drugs. We also support younger adults. That is a very wide range of people, which is why we plan every arrangement individually rather than offering a set package. We begin by talking properly with the person about how they want their life to run, what they manage well themselves and where support would genuinely help, and we set that out in plain language so everyone knows what good support looks like. Visits can cover personal care, medication, meals, household tasks, shopping, appointments and company. Where someone is managing a mental health condition, an eating disorder or an addiction, we work alongside the professionals already involved so that what we do reinforces their plan. We do not judge and we do not lecture. We keep teams small so people see familiar faces and we train carers for the needs they will actually meet. We have not yet been given an overall rating by the Care Quality Commission. We are open about that and glad to answer your questions. Please get in touch.

We are Guardian Homecare in Basildon, supporting people in their own homes across the town and the surrounding parts of Essex. We work with older people and younger adults, people living with dementia or a mental health condition, people with a learning disability or autism, people with a physical disability, people with a visual or hearing impairment, and people dealing with alcohol or drug misuse. That range means we cannot work from a single template. We sit down at the start, work out what would genuinely make a difference to the person in front of us, and build the support around that rather than around what is easiest to staff. Visits cover personal care, support with medication, meals and drinks, help around the house and with shopping, and support to get out to appointments or into town. Where a visit is as much about company and a steady routine as it is about tasks, we say so openly, because that kind of support is often what holds everything else together. We keep teams small and consistent, because a familiar carer spots a change early enough for it to count. The Care Quality Commission has not yet published an overall rating for us. We welcome questions about training, supervision and how we respond to concerns. Please get in touch if you would like to talk about care at home in Basildon.

Here at Rainbow Trust Children's Charity 7, we provide home care support to children and young people across Colchester and the surrounding areas of Essex. We work with families whose children have a range of needs, including learning disabilities, autism, physical disabilities, and visual or hearing impairments, and we tailor the support we offer to fit around each child and their family rather than asking families to fit around us. We know that having someone come into your home to support your child is a significant thing, and we do not take that trust lightly. Getting to know each child properly takes time, and we make sure our team builds genuine, consistent relationships so that children feel comfortable and families feel confident in the support being provided. We work closely with parents and carers at every stage, making sure they are always kept informed and involved in decisions about their child's care. Our team is experienced in working with children who have complex needs, and we are committed to making sure every child we support has the opportunity to take part in daily life in a way that feels meaningful to them. Whether that is support with personal care, help getting out into the community, or simply being there so a parent can take a breath and know their child is in safe hands, we try to make a real and practical difference to family life. We are proud that our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission resulted in an overall rating of good, and we see that as a reflection of the consistent, thoughtful approach our team brings to their work every day. If you would like to find out more about how we might be able to support your family, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us here in Colchester.

    • Home Care

Urban Group of Care provides support at home to people in Waltham Abbey and the surrounding parts of Essex. We work with older people and people living with dementia, with people who have physical disabilities or a visual or hearing impairment, and with younger adults who need support to live independently. Our visits are built around the person's own routine rather than a fixed package. That might be a call first thing to help with washing, dressing and medication so the day starts safely, support at several points with meals, mobility, laundry and the house, or a hand to get out to appointments, the shops and the people who matter. For many of the households we visit, having somebody familiar with time to talk properly counts for as much as anything else we do. We come out before anything begins, agree the plan with the person and whoever they want involved, write it in plain words and review it as needs change. We say honestly when we think somebody needs more than can safely be provided at home. Keeping the same carers going into the same households is something we work at, because familiar carers notice the small changes and can raise them early. The Care Quality Commission has not yet issued an overall rating for us. We are registered with them and work to their standards. Please get in touch to arrange a visit.

Medical Partnerships supports people in their own homes across Rayleigh and the surrounding parts of Essex. We work with older people and younger adults, people living with dementia, people with a learning disability or autism, people with a physical disability, and people with a visual or hearing impairment. The point of care at home is that life carries on where it already is. Nobody has to pack up a house, leave a garden or learn a new neighbourhood. Our job is to fit around the household rather than reorganise it, so we begin by asking how things already run and build the support to match. Visits cover personal care, support with medication, meals and drinks, help around the house and with shopping, and support to get out to appointments or simply for a change of air. Some people want half an hour each morning. Others need several calls a day, and the right amount often changes over time. Where sight or hearing has become restricted, small practical adjustments make a real difference to how independent somebody feels, and we treat that as part of the job. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. Please get in touch if you would like to talk about care at home in Essex.

We are Advinia Homecare, a home care agency working from Epping and supporting adults across this part of Essex. We visit people in their own homes, providing the help that makes staying there workable. We support older people and people living with dementia, people living with mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities, and people with a visual or hearing impairment. The work is practical: help with washing and dressing, support with medication, meals prepared properly, shopping and housework, and a hand getting out of the house. For some people that is a single call each morning, and for others it is several visits through the day. Because we are guests in somebody's home, they set the terms. We ask how things are usually done and we do them that way rather than arriving with a system of our own. We agree the times that suit and we keep to them, because a late call is not a small matter when somebody is waiting to get up or needs their tablets. We try to send the same small group of workers to the same person. Familiarity does a lot of the work in home care: someone you know is easier to let in, and a worker who knows you notices sooner when you are unwell. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please ring us if you would like to talk.

Violet Care Agency provides care and support in people's own homes in Harlow and the surrounding parts of Essex. Our work is built around the life somebody already has, and the aim is to support it rather than reorganise it for our convenience. We support older adults who need help with personal care, medication, meals or getting safely about the house, and people living with dementia, where familiarity and an unhurried manner are worth more than anything else we could offer. We work with adults who have a learning disability or autism, where the point is to build confidence and skills at the individual's own pace, and with people living with mental health conditions, where a steady relationship and early attention to changes make the greatest difference. We support people with physical disabilities and people with a visual or hearing impairment, adapting how we assist and how we communicate so that nobody is spoken about rather than spoken to, and we support younger adults, whose care is planned around work, study, family and independence. We keep the team around each person as small and consistent as the rota allows, because trust is built through familiarity. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. • Home Care

We are Careinmyhome Herts, a home care team supporting people in their own homes across Harlow and the wider Essex area. Everything we do starts in the place that matters most to the people we support, which is their own front room, their own kitchen and their own routine. We visit at agreed times to help with washing and dressing, medication, meals, shopping and getting out and about, and we shape the length and pattern of those visits around what each person actually needs rather than around a fixed template. Much of our work is with older people, including many living with dementia. We know that familiar surroundings can hold a great deal of memory and reassurance, so we take time to learn how someone likes their day to run, what unsettles them and what settles them again. We also support adults with a learning disability or autism and people living with a physical disability, where the focus is often on independence, on doing things together rather than doing things for someone, and on making sure equipment and the home itself are working in the person's favour. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission was outstanding, which we were pleased to receive and which reflects the standard we ask of ourselves every day rather than something we now sit back on. Families tell us that consistency matters, so we work hard to send the same faces wherever we can. If you are thinking about care at home for yourself or a relative in Harlow, we are happy to talk it through without any pressure.

    • Home Care

We at Cera Essex and Havering are proud to provide compassionate home care across Basildon and the wider Essex community, supporting people to live safely and comfortably in the place they know best: their own home. As a home care agency covering Basildon and surrounding areas in the SS postcode region, our team travels to you. That means there is no unfamiliar building to adjust to, no packing of belongings, and no disruption to the daily rhythms and routines that make a house feel like home. Whether you live in a family property, a bungalow, a flat, or sheltered accommodation, our carers come to your door and shape their visits around your world, from the corner you like to sit in with a cup of tea to the neighbours who pop by on a Sunday. Our care is designed for a wide range of needs, and we take real pride in the breadth of support we can offer. For older people, we provide gentle, respectful assistance with everyday tasks such as personal care, medication prompts, meal preparation, and companionship. For those living with dementia, we focus on calm, familiar routines, patient communication, and continuity of carers wherever possible, so that trust can grow steadily over time. Families often tell us how much peace of mind this brings, particularly when memory changes make the unfamiliar feel overwhelming. We also support adults with learning disabilities and autism, working closely with each person to understand how they like to communicate, what brings them comfort, and what independence looks like for them. Our mental health support is grounded in listening without judgement, encouraging routine, and gently promoting wellbeing at a pace that feels right. For people with physical disabilities, we assist with mobility, transfers, and daily living in a way that protects dignity and autonomy at every step. Residents with visual or hearing impairments receive care that is adapted thoughtfully to how they experience the world, whether that means clear verbal cues, tactile signals, or simply taking more time. We are equally committed to supporting younger adults who may need care for a variety of reasons, and to those recovering from or living with the effects of alcohol or drug misuse. In these situations, our approach is non judgemental, practical, and person centred, focused on rebuilding routine, confidence, and stability at home. In practice, this breadth of specialism means families rarely need to look elsewhere as needs change. A loved one who begins with light support around the home can continue with the same familiar faces if their care needs increase, whether due to advancing age, a new diagnosis, or a change in mobility. Continuity matters enormously in home care, and we work hard to protect it. Our most recent Care Quality Commission inspection, carried out in July 2024, rated us Good overall, with Good ratings across all five key areas: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, and Well led. For families, this independent assessment offers reassurance that the care being delivered in your loved one's home meets the standards expected across safety, effectiveness, kindness, responsiveness to individual needs, and the quality of leadership behind the scenes. It is a rating we do not take for granted, and one we strive to build on with every visit. Choosing home care is often a deeply personal decision, and we understand that many families come to us during a period of worry or change. Perhaps a parent has had a fall, a diagnosis has just been made, or you have simply noticed that a loved one is finding daily life harder than before. Whatever has brought you here, we would be glad to talk things through, answer your questions honestly, and help you understand what support might look like. Please reach out to us at Cera Essex and Havering when you are ready, and we will listen with care.

Based in the CM postcode area, our team is ideally positioned to reach families throughout Dunmow and the wider region. Rather than asking those we support to adjust to an unfamiliar environment, we come to you, working within the comfort and familiarity of your own surroundings. From the treasured armchair by the window to the garden you have tended for years, we understand that home holds memories, routines, and a sense of identity that truly matter. Our care is shaped around the individual. We specialise in older person care and home care, offering practical and emotional support with daily living, personal care, medication, mobility, and companionship. For those living with dementia, our approach is patient, gentle, and centred on preserving dignity, offering reassurance during moments of confusion and celebrating what remains familiar and joyful. We also support adults with learning disabilities and autism, tailoring our approach so that each person feels understood, respected, and empowered to make choices about their own life. For people living with a physical disability, or with visual or hearing impairment, we adapt how we communicate and how we assist, ensuring independence is nurtured rather than diminished. Our support extends to younger adults too, recognising that care needs can arise at any stage of life and that every person deserves a plan built around their goals, interests, and aspirations. In practice, this means families can rely on us for a consistent, thoughtful presence, whether that is a short daily visit or more comprehensive ongoing support. We are proud to hold a CQC Overall rating of Good, with Good ratings awarded across every domain: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, and Well led, following our most recent inspection in July 2023. For families, this independent endorsement offers genuine peace of mind. It reflects our commitment to safe practice, effective outcomes, compassionate relationships, responsive support that adapts as needs change, and leadership that puts people first. Choosing care for someone you love is one of the most personal decisions a family can make. We warmly invite you to get in touch with us to talk through your situation, ask any questions, and explore how we might support your loved one to continue living the life they choose, at home in Dunmow. • Home Care

We are a home care agency in Brentwood, visiting older adults and younger adults in their own homes across this part of Essex. For some people we call once a day to get things started safely: help washing and dressing, breakfast, a prompt about tablets, a quick look round. For others it is several visits. What stays the same is that we are guests in somebody's home and we behave like it. We knock and wait, we ask before moving anything, we put things back where they belong, and we do not rearrange a kitchen because it would suit the way we work. Before anything starts we sit down with the person, in their own front room, and agree what the support covers and how they want it done. Families often arrive with a list of tasks, and the person usually wants to talk about something else. That second conversation is the one that produces a plan worth following. We review properly when circumstances change rather than bolting extra minutes onto an arrangement that has stopped fitting. We have not yet been given an overall rating by the Care Quality Commission, and we would rather state that plainly. Ask us how we recruit, train and check the people we send, and meet them beforehand.

Tring Care supports people in their own homes in Brentwood and across Essex. We visit older people, adults living with dementia, people with physical disabilities, those with sight or hearing loss and younger adults. Our work begins with asking rather than assessing. What does somebody want their week to contain, what has become hard work, what can they still do perfectly well without us, and what would they rather we left alone. The answers become a plan written in plain language, agreed with the person and with family where they want that, and revisited when circumstances change. Calls run from a short morning visit through to several longer ones a day. We help with washing and dressing, medication, meals, shopping, laundry and housework, getting out to appointments or to see people, and we make sure there is time for a real conversation rather than a signature and out of the door. We keep rounds local across Brentwood so carers are not racing between calls and people see a small familiar team, and we give notice when a regular carer is away. Staff train before working alone and are supervised in people's homes once they do. We are a newer team and have not yet had a full inspection of our own, which we would rather state plainly. Please ask us whatever you need to before you decide anything.

We provide care at home in Benfleet and the surrounding parts of Essex. Those we support include older adults, adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, people managing mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities, people living with sight or hearing loss, and younger adults. How somebody is spoken to matters to us as much as what gets done. A carer can complete every task on a plan and still leave a person feeling managed rather than helped, and that difference is not a detail, it is the job. So we recruit for manner as much as for experience, we train properly, and we supervise in a way that means we would notice if the manner slipped. The practical side has to be right too, and reliability is what most often fails in this sector. We keep rounds realistic, we decline patterns of care we cannot honestly staff, and we let people know in advance when something has to move. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is outstanding. We are pleased with it and a little wary of it, because a rating describes a period of time rather than a permanent quality. What keeps it true is the same close attention to individual households that earned it, one visit at a time.

Suzanne Farris provides care at home for people in Chelmsford and the surrounding parts of Essex. Our work is with adults who need support to keep managing in their own house, and what we do is agreed with the person rather than offered as a fixed package. We support people living with dementia, where consistency does most of the work. We keep the same care workers visiting at roughly the same times, follow the routine the household already has and avoid moving things about in a home somebody knows by heart. We support adults with a learning disability and autistic adults, where the emphasis falls on independence and on communicating in the way that suits the person, and people with a physical disability, helping with personal care, safe moving and the practical business of managing at home. Where somebody has sight or hearing loss we adapt how we communicate, say who we are as we come in and take care not to move things without mentioning it. Being a small agency means we can keep teams settled, which matters more than almost anything else we could offer. Care is reviewed as needs change, and if something is not working we would rather hear it early. Please ring us if you would like to talk it through.

    • Home Care

Teebollz provides care and support to people in their own homes in Chelmsford and across Essex. We work with older people and younger adults, people living with dementia, adults with a learning disability or autism, people managing mental health conditions or an eating disorder, people with a physical disability or with sight or hearing loss, and people dealing with alcohol or drug misuse. Supporting that range means we cannot work from standard packages, and we do not try to. Each arrangement begins with a visit and a proper conversation about what is genuinely difficult, what the person wants to keep doing themselves and what would make the biggest difference. From there, our support may include personal care, prompting and help with medication, preparing meals and drinks, help with moving about safely, shopping, laundry and housework, or support to get out to appointments, education or work. Our carers are trained for the needs they support and supervised properly, and we keep teams consistent wherever the rota allows, because home care depends on the relationship as much as on the task being done. We work alongside families and the professionals involved so that support is joined up rather than pulling in different directions. If you are considering care at home in Essex, please contact us and we will arrange to visit you.

    • Home Care

We at Manorcourt Homecare are proud to provide compassionate home care across Harlow and the surrounding Essex communities, supporting people to live well and safely in the place they know best: their own home. Based in the CM postcode area, our team works throughout Harlow and the wider East of England region, bringing personalised care directly to the doorsteps of those who need it. Because we deliver care in the familiar surroundings of each person's own home, every visit is shaped by the individual's routines, preferences, and the environment they love. There is no relocation, no unfamiliar setting, and no disruption to the rhythms of daily life. Instead, our carers become a trusted, welcome presence within the home, offering practical support alongside genuine companionship. Our care covers a broad range of needs, allowing us to support adults at many different stages of life. We provide older person care and home care for those who need a helping hand with everyday tasks, from personal care and medication support to meal preparation and mobility assistance. For families navigating the challenges of dementia, our carers offer patient, understanding support that prioritises dignity, familiar routines, and gentle reassurance throughout each day. We also support adults living with a learning disability or autism, working closely with each person and their loved ones to build care around individual communication styles, sensory needs, and personal goals. Our mental health support is delivered with empathy and consistency, helping people maintain stability, confidence, and connection within their community. For those with a physical disability, or with visual or hearing impairments, we adapt our approach to promote independence, safety, and meaningful participation in the things that matter most. We are equally committed to younger adults who require tailored support to lead full, self directed lives at home. What this breadth of specialism means in practice is straightforward: families do not have to piece together care from multiple providers as needs change. Whether a loved one is recovering from illness, living with a long term condition, or simply needing more help than before, our carers are trained to respond thoughtfully and flexibly. We understand that inviting someone into your home is an act of trust, and we work hard to honour that trust with reliability, warmth, and respect at every visit. The Care Quality Commission has rated Manorcourt Homecare as Good overall, with a rating of Good across all five key areas: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, and Well led. This consistent standard reflects the values that guide our team every day. Being rated Good for Safe means families can feel confident that safeguarding, medication, and risk management are handled with care. Good for Effective speaks to the training and skill of our carers. Good for Caring recognises the kindness and dignity at the heart of what we do. Good for Responsive shows that we listen and adapt to changing needs, and Good for Well led reflects the strong management and clear culture behind our care. Choosing home care is a significant decision, and we know families often begin this journey feeling uncertain or overwhelmed. Please know that you are not alone. We at Manorcourt Homecare are here to answer your questions, listen to your concerns, and help you understand what tailored home support could look like for someone you love in Harlow. When you are ready to talk, we will be ready to help.

    • Home Care

CK2Care provides care and support in people's own homes in Clacton on Sea and the surrounding parts of Essex. Most people would rather stay where they are than move, and our work is to make that a safe and dependable arrangement. We support older adults with the things that have become harder: personal care, medication, meals, keeping the house in order and getting out when they want to. We support people living with dementia, where a familiar face arriving at an expected time does more good than any amount of organised activity. We work with people living with mental health conditions, where consistency and a relationship built steadily over time count for a great deal, and with people who have physical disabilities, helping with washing, dressing and mobility in a way that leaves the person directing how things are done. We support people with a visual or hearing impairment, adapting how we announce ourselves, speak and explain what we are about to do, and younger adults, whose care is planned around work, study, family and independence. Wherever the rota allows, the same small group of workers visits each person, because familiar staff notice small changes early. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please ring us and ask whatever you need to before deciding anything.

At ECare Community, we provide home care to people living in Clacton on Sea and the surrounding areas of Essex. We come to you, supporting you in the place that matters most, your own home, so that you can maintain your independence and carry on living life the way you choose. We work with a wide range of people, including older adults, younger adults, and people living with dementia, learning disabilities, autism, mental health conditions, physical disabilities, and visual or hearing impairments. We do not believe in a one size fits all approach. Every person we support has their own story, their own routines, and their own preferences, and we take the time to understand what genuinely matters to each individual before we put any care plan in place. Our carers are people who take their work seriously. They are trained, consistent, and attentive, and they build real relationships with the people they support. We know that allowing someone into your home takes trust, and we do not take that lightly. Whether someone needs a short daily visit or more regular support throughout the week, we aim to make every interaction feel respectful and human rather than rushed or transactional. We are proud that our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission resulted in an overall rating of Good. That rating reflects the effort our team puts in every day, but we are not complacent about it. We regularly review how we work and listen carefully to feedback from the people we support and their families, because there is always room to do things better. If you are looking for home care in Clacton on Sea or nearby, we would be happy to have a straightforward conversation about how we might be able to help. There is no pressure, just an honest discussion about what you need.

We are Hales Group, providing care at home from our base in Saffron Walden to people across this part of Essex and into Hertfordshire. The people we support cover a wide range. Older people and people living with dementia, adults with a learning disability and autistic adults, people managing a mental health condition or an eating disorder, people with a physical disability or a visual or hearing impairment, younger adults building independent lives, and people whose lives have been affected by alcohol or drug use. With a spread like that we do not offer a standard package. We visit first, talk properly with the person and with family where that is wanted, and agree what the support should genuinely cover. For some it is a short call each morning. For others it is several visits a day covering personal care, medication, meals and the running of a household, or support that is far more about routine, encouragement and somebody turning up reliably than about tasks. Where a person's needs call for specialist understanding, we prepare the carers going in rather than leaving them to work it out on the doorstep. We keep the same carers with the same households wherever the rota allows. We liaise with GPs, district nurses, community teams and social workers. Our most recent CQC overall rating is good. Please get in touch to discuss what would help.

We provide care at home in Maldon and the surrounding parts of Essex. Those we support include older adults, people living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, people managing mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities, people living with sight or hearing loss, and younger adults. There is no single way to do this well across such a range, so we do not pretend otherwise. Each arrangement is worked out with the person, and we match carers to households rather than to gaps. A good deal of our work is practical: washing and dressing, medication, meals, shopping, laundry, keeping a household in order. The rest is harder to write into a plan. Noticing that somebody is not themselves. Sitting down for the last ten minutes rather than leaving early. Telling the office that something has changed. Our carers are trained, checked and introduced before they start, and families are welcome to meet them rather than be sent a name. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We would still rather hear about a problem this week than be praised in general terms.

We are a home care agency based in Basildon, supporting adults in their own homes across this part of Essex. Our visits range from a single short call each day through to several hours of support, arranged to fit the person's routine rather than our convenience. We help older people with washing and dressing, medication, meals, shopping and the household jobs that become harder with time. We support adults living with dementia, where familiar faces arriving at predictable times do more good than anything else we can offer, so we keep the same care workers with the same households as far as the rota allows. We also support people with physical disabilities, taking care over equipment and over how each person prefers to be assisted, people living with sight or hearing loss, where announcing ourselves clearly and giving information in a usable form is part of the job, and younger adults who want help that reduces as their confidence grows. Everything starts with a visit and a proper conversation at home, and the plan is written with the person and reviewed honestly. Our care workers are recruited with full checks and references and trained before working alone. We are registered with the Care Quality Commission. Please get in touch.

SureCare covers Colchester and Braintree, providing care and support in people's own homes. We visit older people, people living with dementia, people managing mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities, people living with sight or hearing loss, and younger adults. Our first meeting is a conversation rather than an assessment. What has genuinely become difficult? What do you still manage well and would rather we left alone? What would take the most pressure off this week? Times and tasks come from those answers, because a plan written the other way round describes a category of person instead of a real one. The work covers personal care, medication, meals, moving safely about the house, laundry, shopping, appointments and time to talk properly. For people living with dementia we hold to the same carers at the same times wherever the rota allows and follow the routines already in the household. Where sight or hearing loss is part of things, habits matter more than equipment. Saying who we are as we come in. Leaving furniture where it lives. Checking that glasses and hearing aids are clean and actually working. Where mental health is part of the picture, the useful thing is steadiness. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall.

A carer can complete every task on a plan and still leave somebody feeling managed rather than helped, and that difference is the job rather than a detail. We support people in their own homes in Chelmsford and across Essex. Much of our work is with adults who have learning disabilities and with autistic adults, alongside older people and younger adults moving towards living independently. We begin with what the person wants their life to look like rather than with a list of tasks. For many of those we support, our purpose is not to do things for them but to make it possible for them to do things themselves, and then to step back. That covers cooking, managing money, getting to a job or a course, using the bus, and dealing with the everyday business that can be genuinely daunting on your own. Predictability is central to this work. Knowing who is coming and when, being told about changes in good time, and not having arrangements altered casually are often what separates a manageable week from a difficult one. The cost of getting that wrong falls on the person rather than on us. We have not yet been given an overall rating by the Care Quality Commission, and we would rather state that than leave it unsaid. We are happy to be asked how we recruit, train and supervise our staff, and to be judged on what the people we support say about us.

We support older people, people living with dementia, adults with a learning disability and autistic adults, people managing mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities and people with sight or hearing loss. Younger adults are part of our work too, and their support has to fit around work, study and family rather than displacing it. We begin by coming out and talking. We want to understand how a household already runs, what somebody actually wants help with and what they would rather keep doing themselves. It is surprisingly common for the most important thing to be something nobody thought to put on a list, and we would rather find that out at the start. From there it is about doing simple things reliably. Arriving when we said we would. Keeping the same carers with the same households so trust has a chance to build. Handing over properly so nobody has to explain themselves twice. Saying early when something has changed. We are honest about what we can take on, and we will say if we are not the right fit. We at Learning and Support Services are proud to provide compassionate home care across Chelmsford and the surrounding Essex communities, supporting people to live well and independently in the place they know best: their own home. Based in the CM postcode area, our team works throughout Chelmsford and its neighbouring villages, bringing care directly to residents wherever they call home. Because our support is delivered in familiar surroundings, every visit is shaped around each person's own routines, preferences, and the comforts of their household. There are no unfamiliar corridors to navigate or new environments to adjust to, simply attentive care woven gently into daily life. Our expertise spans a broad spectrum of needs, allowing us to walk alongside individuals and families through many different chapters of life. We support older people who wish to remain independent at home, adults and younger adults living with learning disabilities or autism, and those managing mental health conditions. We also care for people with physical disabilities and those with visual or hearing impairments, tailoring our approach to each person's unique circumstances. In practice, this means our carers take time to understand what matters most to the individual, whether that is help with personal care, medication support, companionship, assistance with meals, or enabling participation in the hobbies and community connections that bring meaning to daily life. For families, it offers the reassurance of knowing a trusted, consistent team is there, easing worry and lightening the load of caregiving. The Care Quality Commission has rated us Good overall, with an Outstanding rating in the Caring domain following their inspection in September 2022. That Outstanding recognition reflects something we hold very close to our purpose: the belief that kindness, dignity, and genuine human connection sit at the heart of good care. Alongside this, our Good ratings across Safe, Effective, Responsive, and Well-led speak to the steady, thoughtful standards that underpin everything we do. If you are exploring home care for yourself or a loved one in Chelmsford, we warmly invite you to get in touch. Choosing care is a deeply personal decision, and we are here to listen, answer your questions, and help you feel confident about the next step. Whatever the need, however complex or gentle, you will find a team ready to support your family with warmth and respect.

We support older people and younger adults, people living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities and autism, people managing mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities and people who have sight or hearing loss. We also support people with eating disorders, where patience and consistency matter more than anything else we could offer. Our visits cover the practical ground that keeps somebody living comfortably at home: help with washing and dressing, medicines, cooking and eating well, laundry and tidying, shopping, and getting out to appointments, groups, work or simply to see people. How much of that is wanted, and when, is for the person to decide. Continuity is what makes home care work. Being helped with personal care by somebody unfamiliar is genuinely uncomfortable, and for anybody living with dementia an unexpected face at the door can unsettle a whole morning, so we keep the team around each person small and give notice when a change is unavoidable. Where somebody communicates differently or has sight or hearing loss, we learn how they prefer to be approached. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We ask the people we support directly whether we are getting things right.

We at Carerose Cares are proud to offer compassionate home care across Ongar and the wider Essex community, supporting people to live well and safely in the place they know best: their own home. Based in the CM postcode area, our team works throughout Ongar and surrounding neighbourhoods, bringing care directly to your doorstep. Whether you live in a family home, a bungalow, or sheltered accommodation, we tailor our visits and support around your routines, your preferences, and the environment you have built over a lifetime. There is real comfort in familiar surroundings, and we believe that thoughtful home care can preserve independence, dignity, and daily joys in ways that a move away simply cannot. Our team supports a broad range of needs, reflecting the reality that no two people, and no two families, are the same. For older people, we offer gentle, reliable assistance with the everyday tasks that can become challenging over time, from personal care and medication support to companionship and help around the home. For those living with dementia, we take a patient, person centred approach, learning each individual's history, preferences, and triggers so that every visit feels reassuring rather than unfamiliar. Families often tell us how much peace of mind this brings, knowing a consistent, understanding face is there to help. We also support adults living with mental health needs, providing calm, respectful care that promotes stability, routine, and wellbeing. For people with physical disabilities, our carers assist with mobility, transfers, and daily living tasks in a way that empowers rather than takes over. We are experienced in supporting individuals with visual or hearing impairments, adapting our communication and care approach so that no one feels overlooked or rushed. And because good care is not defined by age, we also welcome younger adults who benefit from tailored support to live the fullest life possible at home. Carerose Cares is currently awaiting its first inspection and rating from the Care Quality Commission. Whilst a formal rating is not yet available, we operate to the same rigorous standards the CQC expects of every registered provider in England, with clear policies, trained carers, and a genuine commitment to safe, effective, caring, responsive, and well led support. We welcome open conversations with families about how we work, and we encourage you to ask questions, request information, and get to know us before making any decisions. Choosing care for yourself or a loved one is one of the most important decisions a family can make, and we understand that it often comes at an emotional and uncertain time. If you are exploring home care in Ongar or the wider CM area, we warmly invite you to get in touch. We would be delighted to talk through your situation, listen to what matters most to you, and explain how our team can help you or your relative continue to live safely, comfortably, and with dignity at home.

    • Home Care

We are ECL Mid Essex, based in Chelmsford, and we provide care in people's own homes across the area. We support older people, including many living with dementia, people living with mental ill health, people with physical disabilities, people living with sight or hearing loss, and younger adults. Home care stands or falls on reliability, so that is where our effort goes first. Turning up when we said we would. Sending somebody the person already knows. Telling a family promptly if a visit has to change. None of that is glamorous, but it is what people actually notice, and it is the difference between support that helps and support that becomes another thing to worry about. Every arrangement begins with a conversation in the person's own home. How does the day run now? What has become difficult? What do you still want to do for yourself, and where would a hand genuinely help? From those answers we agree the visits, which might be a single short call, several a day, or a longer stretch so that a relative caring full time can get out of the house properly. We revise the plan as needs move. For people living with dementia, familiarity does more good than anything else we could offer, so continuity of staff is something we work at rather than mention in passing. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Ring us if you would like to talk it through.

    • Home Care

At Passion Tree Care, we provide home care support to people living in Chelmsford and the surrounding areas of Essex. We work with a wide range of individuals, including older adults, younger adults, and people living with dementia, learning disabilities, autism, mental health conditions, physical disabilities, and visual or hearing impairments. Our aim is straightforward: to help people live well in their own homes, with the right support in place to suit their individual needs. We understand that inviting a care worker into your home is a significant step, and we take that trust seriously. From the very first conversation, we work closely with the people we support and their families to understand what matters most to them, not just in terms of practical tasks but in terms of how they want to spend their time and who they want to be. Care plans are built around the individual, and we review them regularly to make sure they continue to reflect changing needs and preferences. Our team is trained to support people across a broad range of conditions and circumstances, and we are proud that our work has been recognised by the Care Quality Commission with an overall rating of Good. That rating reflects the effort our staff put in every day, and we remain committed to maintaining and improving on the standards it represents. We are based in Chelmsford and have a real connection to this community. Many of the people we support have lived here their whole lives, and being able to help them stay in familiar surroundings, close to the people and places they know, is something we find genuinely rewarding. If you would like to find out more about how we can help you or someone you care about, we are always happy to have an initial conversation with no pressure or obligation.

We are a home care agency based in Billericay, supporting people across Thurrock, Basildon and the surrounding parts of Essex in their own homes. Our aim is straightforward, which is to make it possible for somebody to stay where they want to be for as long as that is sensible and safe. Most of our work is with older people who need help with the ordinary things that have become harder, washing and dressing, medication, preparing meals, shopping and getting out of the house. We also support younger adults, whose circumstances and priorities are often very different from what people expect of home care, and we plan their support around what they actually want rather than handing out a standard package. We try to send the same carers to the same people week after week. It is the difference between being looked after by somebody who knows you and being visited by a stranger with a list of tasks, and it means our team notice quickly when something has changed. We have not yet received an overall rating from the Care Quality Commission, and we would rather state that plainly. Until we do, judge us on whether we arrive when we said and whether we are easy to reach when something needs sorting out.

We are Nexus Support, working from Wickford to support adults in their own homes and in the community across this part of Essex. Our work is with adults who have learning disabilities and autistic adults, with people who have physical disabilities, with people who have a visual or hearing impairment, and with younger adults who want help to live independently. The point of what we do is not to take charge of somebody's life but to make the life they want workable, so we begin with what a person wants their week to look like and work back to the support that would make it possible. In practice that might mean help with personal care, medication, cooking, shopping, managing money and appointments, or support to get to work, college, a gym or a regular group. Communication is central: how somebody prefers to be given information, and how they let us know what they want, is the basis of everything else rather than a detail to be settled later. Where change is difficult, we keep to a predictable routine and prepare properly for anything out of the ordinary. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We are Stormwaves Care, a home care agency supporting adults in Basildon and the surrounding part of Essex. We visit people in their own homes, helping with what has become difficult and leaving alone what they manage perfectly well. We support older people, people living with dementia, and people with physical disabilities. We have kept our focus narrow rather than claiming to cover everything, and home care for older and disabled adults is what we do. The work is practical: help with washing and dressing, support with medication, meals prepared properly, shopping, housework, and a hand getting out of the house. For some people that is one call a day and for others it is several. For somebody living with dementia, a familiar worker arriving at a familiar time is worth a great deal, so we try hard to keep the same small group of people visiting. We have not yet received an overall rating from the Care Quality Commission. Until we have, please ask us direct questions about how we recruit, train and supervise our staff, what happens when a visit runs late, and who you can reach at the weekend. We would rather be judged on clear answers than on claims.

Hales supports people in their own homes in Wickford and across this part of Essex. We work with older people and younger adults, people living with dementia or mental ill health, people with physical disabilities or sight and hearing loss, adults with a learning disability or who are autistic, and people dealing with an eating disorder or problems related to alcohol or drugs. With that range of need, careful individual planning matters far more than a standard package. We meet the person first, work out what daily life actually requires, and write the plan in language they can follow. For some households it is personal care at either end of the day; for others, longer visits, help with medication, or somebody alongside a person to hold a routine together through a difficult stretch. We stay in close contact with families, GPs, community teams and social workers, because people with complicated needs are usually let down in the gaps between organisations rather than by any single one of them. We are also honest about our limits. If somebody needs more than home care can safely provide, we say so rather than letting matters drift. Keeping the same carers with the same households is something we work at, since trust takes a long while to build. Please ring us if you would like to discuss support for yourself or a relative.

We are 247 Live in Companions, based in Brentwood and arranging live in care and companionship for people in their own homes. We support older people and people living with dementia. Live in support means somebody is there through the day and the night, which suits people for whom a series of short visits is no longer enough, and families where a carer at home can no longer manage alone. For others, a few visits a day is plenty, and we would say so rather than sell something larger than is needed. Having somebody living in a house is a considerable thing, so the matching matters enormously. We take time over who we introduce, we listen to how it is going, and we change the arrangement if it is not right. The household's routines come first, not ours. For somebody living with dementia, the steadiness of one familiar person, and a day that runs the way it always has, is often worth more than anything else we could offer. We have not yet received an overall rating from the Care Quality Commission. We are Bluebird Care Mid Essex, based in Chelmsford and supporting adults in their own homes across this part of the county. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is outstanding. We are proud of that and also clear about what it means. It is not a promise that nothing will ever go wrong. It reflects the fact that we know the people we support well, that our workers are properly trained and supervised, and that when something needs putting right we deal with it rather than explaining it away. The range of people we work with is wide: older people and people living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities or autism, people living with mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities or a visual or hearing impairment, younger adults, people managing an eating disorder, and people whose lives have been affected by alcohol or drug misuse. We put real weight on continuity and on the length of a visit, because home care done in a hurry is not worth much. We keep to agreed times and we stay the time we agreed. We support older people and people living with dementia, people with physical disabilities, people with a visual or hearing impairment, and younger adults who need help with daily life. In practice that means personal care, support with medication, meals, shopping and housework, help getting out to appointments, and the company that often matters as much as any task on a care plan. Being at home is what most of the people we visit want above everything else, so our job is to make that workable for as long as possible. We start by asking what somebody actually wants from us and what they would rather keep doing for themselves, and we revise that as things change rather than at a fixed review date. We also try to keep the same small group of workers going to the same person. A familiar face is easier to let into the house, and a worker who knows somebody notices sooner when they are unwell or unhappy. Our purpose is to make staying at home a workable option, so that people keep their own surroundings, their own routine and their own say over the day. We support older adults with the everyday things that have become harder: personal care, medication, meals, keeping the house in order and getting out safely. We support people living with dementia, where a familiar face arriving at an expected time does more good than any amount of organised activity. We work with adults who have a learning disability or autism, where communication suited to the person and support that builds skills rather than replacing them make the greatest difference. We support people with physical disabilities, helping with washing, dressing and mobility while leaving the person deciding how it is done, and people with a visual or hearing impairment, adapting how we announce ourselves, speak and explain. We support younger adults too, whose care is planned around work, study, family and independence. We keep the team around each person as small and consistent as we can manage. Here at Care Circle in Colchester, Essex, we provide home care that is built around the people we support rather than a rigid set of routines. We come to you, in your own home, working around your life and the things that matter to you most. Our team supports a wide range of people across the local community, including older adults, younger adults, and those living with dementia or a physical disability. We also work with people who have a visual or hearing impairment, and we take time to understand how communication and daily life look from each person's perspective before we ever begin supporting them. No two people are the same, and we do not treat them as though they are. Home care, done well, means more than ticking tasks off a list. It means turning up on time, being consistent, listening properly, and building real trust with the people in our care and with their families. We know how much it means to stay in your own home, and we take that responsibility seriously. For those living with dementia, we understand that familiarity and calm consistency can make an enormous difference to daily wellbeing. We approach this area of our work thoughtfully, staying alert to the individual and not just the condition. We are based in Colchester and proud to support people throughout the local area. Whether someone needs a short visit each day or more regular support throughout the week, we work to find an arrangement that genuinely fits. If you are thinking about home care for yourself or someone close to you, we would always encourage you to get in touch and have a proper conversation with us first. KASE Care provides care and support in people's own homes across Loughton and the surrounding parts of Essex. We work with older people and with younger adults, and our packages range from one short daily call to substantial support arranged around complex needs. The range of people we support is broad. It includes people living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, people managing mental health conditions including eating disorders, people with physical disabilities and people living with sight or hearing loss. Supporting that range properly means assessing each person carefully and never assuming that a diagnosis tells us what somebody wants from us. Visits cover personal care, medication, meals, shopping, laundry, household tasks and company. Where somebody is working towards greater independence, we plan for that rather than settling into a pattern that quietly does everything for them. We schedule for continuity of carer, train staff for the needs they will actually meet, and supervise them properly once they are in post. Families are kept informed while decisions stay with the person we support. The Care Quality Commission rated us good at our most recent inspection. Carerose Cares provides care at home for people across Colchester and the surrounding parts of Essex. We work on a simple principle: support should fit into somebody's life quietly, at the times it is needed, and leave everything else exactly as they like it. We visit older people who need help with personal care, medication, meals, mobility or the general running of the day. We support people living with dementia at home, where familiar rooms and familiar routines are a genuine help. We also work with people managing mental health conditions, people living with a physical disability, people with sight or hearing loss, and younger adults who want support that keeps them independent rather than support that takes over. Before anything starts we sit down with the person and, if they want, their family, and agree what good support would actually look like. Visits are then planned around that. We keep the same carers going to the same households wherever we can, because knowing somebody is what allows a carer to notice a change early. We are honest about the fact that we do not currently hold an overall rating from the Care Quality Commission. If you are looking into care at home in this area, give us a ring. We will visit, talk it through properly and tell you plainly whether we can help.

We support older people and younger adults, including those living with dementia, adults with a learning disability, autistic people, people with a physical disability and people affected by eating disorders. Our support is planned around the individual rather than a standard package. The first conversation is about what has become difficult, what someone would rather keep doing alone, and who else they want involved. What follows is written in plain language and shared, so that everyone who visits knows what matters and why. Visits may cover help with washing and dressing, support with medication, meals, laundry and housework, and shopping. They may equally be about routine and company, getting out of the house, keeping appointments, or support to build confidence and skills. We keep teams small and familiar, because personal care is far easier to accept from someone you know, and because a regular carer is the one who notices early when a person seems unwell or unsettled. We raise those concerns promptly with families, with the person's agreement, and with the professionals involved. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.

We work in people's own houses and flats, arranging support around the household that is already there rather than around a convenient rota. The people we support include older people, many living with dementia, adults with a learning disability and autistic adults, people managing a mental health condition, people with a physical disability, people with a visual or hearing impairment and younger adults. Support ranges from a short daily visit through to substantial packages for people with complex needs who want to remain at home, and we plan carefully in either case. Visits cover personal care, help with medication, meals, housework and laundry, moving safely about the home, getting to appointments and having reliable company. We write down clearly what each visit should achieve so nobody has to work it out at the door, and we keep the same carers with the same households wherever the schedule allows. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We treat that as the standard people are owed rather than as a selling point. If you are considering care at home in Essex, we are glad to visit, answer questions plainly and say honestly whether we are the right service for you.

    • Home Care

Ebony Healthcare provides care and support at home in Brentwood and across Essex. We work with older people, adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, people with mental health needs and younger adults. Our starting point is that people should be helped to stay in charge of their own lives, which sounds obvious but changes how support is planned. We ask what somebody wants help with, what they would rather manage themselves and what they do not want us involved in at all, and we take those answers seriously. For older people, support might be personal care, medication, meals and a hand with the house, delivered by the same small team at times that suit the household. For autistic people and adults with learning disabilities the emphasis is usually different: support to cook, to manage money and appointments, to travel, to get to work or college, and to keep up friendships and family relationships. Where we support people with mental health needs, we aim to be the dependable part of the week and to work in step with the community teams involved rather than around them. We are careful about the size of the teams we build around each person, because care at home falls apart when the face at the door keeps changing. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you are looking into support at home in Essex, please get in touch and we will talk it through honestly.

The Octagon supports people in their own homes in Colchester and the surrounding area. We work with older people and younger adults, including adults with a learning disability, autistic people, people with a physical disability and people with a visual or hearing impairment. Our purpose is to make the life someone wants workable. That may involve help with personal care and medication, and it often involves the practical business of running a life, including cooking, shopping, laundry, budgeting, appointments, travel, and keeping up with work, study, friends and family. We agree support with the person, in a form they can genuinely take part in, and we review it as circumstances change. Understanding how each individual communicates is central to what we do, so we take time to learn it rather than assuming. For autistic people especially, a predictable routine, respect for sensory needs and a small, familiar staff team are what make support feel safe rather than intrusive. Where a person wants to build a skill, our job is to support the practice and then step back, even when doing the task ourselves would be quicker. That takes staff who know the individual well, which is why we keep teams stable. We would be glad to talk with you about what support might look like.

    • Home Care

Elsie's Help at Home provides care and support in people's own homes in Chelmsford and across Essex. We visit older people, people living with dementia, people with physical disabilities, people living with sight or hearing loss, and younger adults. Home care is made of small dependable things rather than grand statements. Arriving at the time we said. Knowing how somebody takes their tea and which door sticks. Noticing that three days of post has gone unopened. None of that appears in a care plan and all of it is the difference between a service being delivered and somebody actually being looked after. The practical help depends on the household: washing and dressing, medication prompted or administered, meals cooked, getting up in the morning and settled at night, keeping the house in order, shopping, appointments and getting out of the door. Some people want one visit a week and others need several calls a day. For people living with dementia we work hard at consistency, sending familiar carers at familiar times and following the routines already in place. Where sight or hearing loss is part of things, we get the small habits right: announcing ourselves, leaving furniture where it lives, checking that glasses and hearing aids are clean and working. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall.

We work with a broad range of people, including older adults, younger adults, people with learning disabilities or autism, those experiencing mental health difficulties, and individuals affected by alcohol or drug misuse. We believe that care should fit around the person, not the other way around. That means taking the time to understand what matters to each individual, what their routines look like, and how we can best support them day to day. Whether someone needs a brief morning visit or more regular support throughout the week, we work closely with the people we care for and their families to make sure things feel right. Our team is made up of people who genuinely want to make a difference in the lives of those they support. We invest in training and work hard to make sure everyone who comes through our door receives consistent, thoughtful care from people who know them well. We are proud to hold a Good rating from the Care Quality Commission, which reflects the effort our whole team puts in every day. It means a great deal to us, but we never see it as a reason to stop looking at how we can do things better. If you are considering home care for yourself or someone you love, we would encourage you to get in touch. We are happy to have an honest conversation about what you need and whether we are the right fit. • Home Care

At Well-Led Care, we provide home care support to people living in Brentwood, Essex and the surrounding areas. Our focus is on helping individuals remain in their own homes, maintaining their independence and continuing to live life in a way that feels right for them. We work with a wide range of people, including older adults, younger adults, and individuals living with dementia, mental health conditions, physical disabilities, and visual or hearing impairments. We understand that no two people are the same, which is why we take time at the outset to understand what matters most to each person we support. Care plans are built around real lives, not generic templates. Dementia care is an area we approach with particular thoughtfulness. We know how important familiarity and routine are for people living with dementia, and we work closely with families to make sure our support fits naturally into the person's day. The same applies to mental health support, where trust and consistency between a client and their carer can make a genuine difference to how someone feels day to day. For those living with a physical disability or a sensory impairment, we focus on practical, respectful support that promotes as much independence as possible. We never assume what someone can or cannot do. We ask, we listen, and we follow the person's lead. We are registered with the Care Quality Commission and are committed to meeting the standards that good home care requires. Families often tell us that what they value most is knowing their loved one is being looked after by someone who genuinely pays attention and treats them with dignity. If you would like to find out more about how we can support you or a family member, we would be very happy to have a conversation.

Arranging and funding home care in Essex

What the assessment establishes

Funding and provider choice are separate decisions, and they are easier taken in that order. A care needs assessment sets out what someone can manage alone, what they cannot, and what support would close the gap, and anyone who appears to need care is entitled to one whatever their savings. Essex County Council carries out that assessment and the financial assessment that follows, and arranges funded support where a person qualifies. The written outcome is useful even to families who expect to pay for everything themselves, because it converts a vague sense that something must change into a specific list of visits and tasks that an agency can quote against. A relative providing unpaid support can ask for a carer's assessment in their own right at the same time.

The cost of an hour

Care at home is priced by the hour, with shorter calls charged proportionately and higher rates usual at weekends, on bank holidays and through the night. Where support is funded, the national means test decides the contribution, and anyone holding capital above the upper threshold arranges and pays for care privately. Funded support may arrive as an arranged service or as a direct payment, which hands you the choice of agency and the shape of the rota. Attendance allowance sits outside the means test altogether and is worth claiming whatever else is in place. Before agreeing a start date, ask for a full rate card in writing, including travel charges, bank holiday rates and the notice period on both sides.

Choosing between home care agencies in Essex

Whether the rounds actually reach the door

An agency registered to work in Essex is not necessarily an agency that will travel to your relative's address, because rounds are built around clusters of clients and travel time between them. Ask about coverage and available time slots in the very first call, since an agency that can only offer a late morning visit when help is needed at seven in the morning is not a real option however well it is rated. Work out in advance how many calls a day are needed, at what times, and what has to happen during each one. That preparation turns a listing of 475 agencies into a shortlist of a few.

Reading an inspection report on an agency

The Care Quality Commission inspects a home care agency as an organisation rather than as a building, so its rating reflects recruitment and training, medication handling, how calls are scheduled and covered, and how complaints are answered. Agencies here hold Outstanding, Good and Requires Improvement ratings, and some carry none at all because they registered too recently to be inspected. An unrated agency is not automatically a weak one, but there is no independent judgement to lean on, so ask harder questions and request references. Where a report exists, the sections on safety and responsiveness usually tell you more than the overall word.

The questions that draw out honest answers

Ask how many different carers will visit across a typical fortnight, because continuity affects daily life more than anything printed in a brochure. Ask what happens when a carer is delayed or off sick, and whether anyone tells the family. Ask how visits are logged, whether relatives can see those records, and how medication support is signed off. Ask how a package can be increased if needs change, and how quickly. An agency confident in its own service answers all of that without hesitation.

Frequently asked questions about home care in Essex

How do I arrange a care needs assessment in Essex?

Contact the adult social care team at Essex County Council and ask for a care needs assessment. Anyone who appears to need care and support is entitled to one regardless of income or savings, and you can make the request on a relative's behalf. A practitioner will look at daily tasks, mobility, medication and safety, then set out what support would meet the need. A financial assessment is carried out separately to establish who pays for what.

Will Essex County Council contribute towards home care?

It depends on the outcome of the needs assessment and the financial assessment taken together. Essex County Council applies the national means test, so capital above the upper threshold means funding care privately, while capital below it can bring a contribution towards the cost. Where care is funded, a direct payment is often available so that you can choose the agency yourself rather than accept an arranged service. Attendance allowance is not means tested and can be claimed alongside any of these arrangements.

Which agencies provide home care in Essex?

475 agencies registered to deliver care in people's own homes are listed for Essex. They include national providers running local branches as well as small independent agencies covering only a few towns. Coverage is the first thing to establish, because registration in the county does not guarantee that an agency's rounds reach a particular address. Each entry links to a profile showing the Care Quality Commission rating and the inspection findings behind it.

How does home care compare with moving into a care home?

Home care brings a carer to the door for planned visits while your relative stays in their own house with their routine, neighbours and belongings around them. A residential care home provides accommodation with support available through the day and night, and a nursing home adds registered nurses on site for clinical needs. Home care suits people whose needs fall at predictable points in the day and can be increased gradually as circumstances change. Where someone needs supervision around the clock, a residential setting is usually the more realistic option.

How early should a family start looking for an agency in Essex?

A few weeks is usually enough to compare agencies, arrange an assessment and let a package start gently rather than at full strength. Beginning early leaves room to trial a small number of visits and build on them as needs become clearer. When care is required on discharge from hospital the timescale shrinks to days, and a temporary package may be arranged for you while longer term choices are made. Nothing about that first arrangement is fixed, so treat it as a starting point.

What should I ask an agency before agreeing to a care package?

Ask how many different carers will come in a typical fortnight and whether the same people return, since continuity matters more than almost anything else. Ask how late or missed calls are handled and whether the family is told at the time. Ask how visits are recorded, whether relatives can see the records, and how medication is documented. Ask about minimum call lengths, notice periods and charges for travel or bank holidays, and ask for the answers in writing.
