Home Care in Essex 475 home care agencies · 270 rated Good by CQC

Support delivered inside a person's own home is what all 475 home care agencies listed for Essex have in common, though very little else about them is identical. Ratings across that group include Outstanding and Good, alongside agencies rated Requires Improvement and others holding no rating because the Care Quality Commission has not yet inspected them. Essex County Council is responsible for the care needs assessment that establishes what help is required and how often, and for the financial assessment that determines how much of the cost is met from public funds rather than by the family. Either can be requested regardless of income or savings. Because agencies build their rounds around geography, registration in the county is no guarantee that a particular street is covered, so ask that question before anything else. Then open the profile of each agency still under consideration, read the inspection report that lies behind its rating, and let the findings there decide which one you approach first.

    • Home Care

InfiniteLife Essex provides home care to adults in Chelmsford and the surrounding part of Essex. We support older people and younger adults, people living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities and autism, people managing mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities, and people who have sight or hearing loss. Everything begins with what the person wants their day to look like. From there the support might include help with washing and dressing, medicines, meals, the household and shopping, or it might be about getting out to work, college, appointments and the places somebody likes to go. For younger adults it is frequently about building the practical skills independent living demands, and there we count it a success when we are needed less as time goes on. We put real effort into continuity. Being helped with personal care by somebody you have never met is a genuinely difficult thing to accept, so we keep the team around each person small and let you know in advance when it has to change. Where somebody communicates in their own way, or has sight or hearing loss, we learn how they prefer to be approached rather than expecting them to adapt to us. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We ask the people we support whether we are getting the everyday things right.

We at EVJ Healthcare are proud to provide compassionate home care across Clacton on Sea and the surrounding communities in Essex, supporting people to live well and safely in the place they know best: their own home. Based in the CO postcode area, we serve individuals and families throughout Clacton on Sea and the wider East of England region. Because our care comes to you, the environment that matters most is your own familiar setting, whether that is a long loved family home, a bungalow near the coast, or sheltered accommodation. Our role is to fit gently into your daily life, respecting your routines, your preferences, and the small details that make a house feel like home. Our team supports adults of all ages with a broad range of needs. We provide older person care for those who need a helping hand with everyday tasks, and specialist dementia care delivered with patience, consistency, and a genuine understanding of how memory changes can affect confidence and wellbeing. We also support younger adults, people living with learning disabilities or autism, individuals managing mental health conditions, and those with physical disabilities or visual and hearing impairments. In practice, this means our care is never one size fits all. For a person living with dementia, it might mean the reassurance of familiar faces and gentle prompts that preserve independence. For someone with a physical disability, it may involve careful support with mobility, personal care, and everyday tasks that make life easier and safer. For younger adults and people with learning disabilities, our focus is on enabling choice, building confidence, and supporting meaningful daily activities. Families tell us that knowing a trusted carer is arriving, someone who genuinely knows their loved one, brings enormous peace of mind. We were rated Good by the Care Quality Commission at our most recent inspection in July 2022, achieving Good across every domain assessed: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, and Well led. This consistent rating reflects a whole team commitment to safe practice, kind and person centred support, and thoughtful leadership. For families, a Good rating across all five areas offers reassurance that the fundamentals of quality care are being met day in and day out. If you are exploring home care for yourself or a loved one in Clacton on Sea, we would be delighted to hear from you. Choosing care is a significant decision, and we understand the mix of emotions that can come with it. Please get in touch to talk things through in your own time, ask any questions you may have, and discover how we can help your family feel supported, safe, and truly at home.

We at QV Care are proud to offer compassionate home care across Chelmsford and the wider Essex area, supporting individuals who wish to remain safe, comfortable, and independent within the familiar surroundings of their own homes. Based in the CM postcode area, our team is ideally positioned to reach families throughout Chelmsford and the surrounding communities. Because we deliver care directly to your loved one's doorstep, the environment we work in is the one that matters most: their home. Every visit is shaped around their routines, their preferences, and the small comforts that make a house feel like home, whether that is a favourite armchair by the window, a much loved pet, or the reassurance of a neighbourhood they have known for years. Our specialisms reflect the diverse needs of the people we support. We provide dedicated older person care for those who may need a helping hand with daily living, from personal care and medication reminders to companionship and light household tasks. Our dementia care is delivered with patience, consistency, and a deep understanding of how important routine and gentle reassurance can be for someone living with memory loss. For individuals experiencing mental health challenges, we offer sensitive, non judgemental support that promotes wellbeing and confidence in everyday life. We also support adults living with physical disabilities, helping to remove barriers to independence through practical assistance tailored to each person's mobility and lifestyle. Our care for younger adults recognises that support needs are not defined by age, and we work closely with each individual to build a package of care that respects their goals, choices, and aspirations. In practice, this means care plans are never one size fits all. Families can expect open communication, careful matching of care workers to the people they visit, and a genuine commitment to dignity at every step. As a newer presence within the regulated care sector, our CQC overall rating is currently listed as Not Yet Rated. This simply reflects that we are awaiting our first full inspection. In the meantime, we remain fully committed to the standards expected by the Care Quality Commission and welcome open conversations with families about how we work, the training our team receives, and the safeguards we have in place to ensure safe, effective, and kind care. Choosing home care is a deeply personal decision, and we understand that families often begin this journey feeling uncertain or overwhelmed. We are here to listen without pressure, to answer your questions honestly, and to help you explore whether our support could be the right fit for your loved one. If you would like to learn more about how we can help you or a family member continue living well at home in Chelmsford, we warmly invite you to get in touch for a friendly, no obligation conversation.

Based in the CM postcode area, our team is ideally positioned to reach families throughout Chelmsford and the surrounding communities. Younger adults are equally welcome within our care community. • Home Care

We are Watergate Healthcare, a home care provider based in Colchester supporting older people and younger adults in their own homes across the town and the surrounding parts of Essex. Our work is straightforward and we think it is better for being so. We visit people where they live and help with whatever has become difficult, so that leaving home does not become the only option on the table. That might mean help washing and dressing at the start of the day, support with medication, meals cooked properly, keeping on top of the house, or an evening call to help somebody settle safely for the night. The things that decide whether home care actually works are unglamorous. Arriving when we said we would. Staying for the agreed time rather than rushing off. Sending somebody the person already knows. We plan our rounds so those things are achievable rather than aspirational, and we would rather decline a package than take one on and deliver it badly. Nothing starts until we have been out, met the person and talked properly about what would help, with family involved if that is wanted. The plan is agreed together and revised as needs change. We work alongside GPs, district nurses and social workers where they are involved. Please get in touch if you are looking into care at home for yourself or a relative.

    • Home Care

We provide care at home in Basildon and the surrounding area, visiting people in their own houses so that daily life can carry on in familiar surroundings. For most of the people we support, that is the whole point: keeping the same house, the same street and the same routine, with help in the places where it is genuinely needed. Our visits are arranged around the person rather than the other way round. They might involve help with washing and dressing, support with medication, preparing meals, keeping on top of the house, or simply company and someone to talk things over with. It is surprising how often people tell us it is the last of those they had been missing most. We put real effort into sending the same carers wherever we can. Familiarity makes the whole arrangement more comfortable, and a carer who knows somebody well also notices when something has changed and can raise it early. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We treat that as encouragement rather than a conclusion, and we keep asking the people we support and their families what we could do better. If you would like to talk through what care at home might involve, we are happy to do so without any obligation and to be honest about what we can offer.

Weighbridge Court provides care and support to people living in their own apartments in Chipping Ongar. We work with older people and younger adults, people living with dementia, people with physical disabilities, and people who have sight or hearing loss. This kind of arrangement sits between managing entirely alone and moving into a care home, and for a great many people it is exactly right. You keep your own front door, your own things, your own routine and your own privacy, and support is available in the background at the level you actually want. That might be a hand with washing and dressing, help with medicines, support with meals or the household, or somebody to help you get out and keep up with the people and places that matter to you. We agree the support with each person rather than applying a standard package, and we adjust it as circumstances change, in either direction. Where somebody living with dementia needs the day to stay familiar, we keep it familiar. Where somebody would rather do a thing for themselves, we leave them to it, because independence is easily worn away by well meant help. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We ask residents and their families whether we are getting the everyday things right.

    • Home Care

Azile Cares is a home care agency in Waltham Abbey, supporting people in their own homes across this part of Essex. We work with older people and with younger adults, including people who have a learning disability and autistic people. Support ought to fit around a person's life rather than the other way about. For an older person that usually means practical help at the start and end of the day so that staying at home remains possible. For a younger adult with a learning disability, or for an autistic person, it is often something quite different: help to hold down a tenancy, manage money, cook, get to work or college, and deal with the officialdom that defeats most of us. We try to do as little as necessary and as much as is genuinely needed. Support that takes over is simpler to deliver and much worse for the person, so we pay attention to what people have stopped needing us for. Communication is where we put most of our effort. Some of the people we support do not use speech, and in our experience nearly every serious problem we are asked to put right began with nobody slowing down enough to listen. We use whatever method works for the individual and we check we have understood rather than assuming. The Care Quality Commission has not yet given us an overall rating. Talk to us and we will be realistic about what we can offer.

We at Jess Foresight Healthcare are proud to offer compassionate home care across Basildon and the wider Essex community, supporting individuals who wish to remain in the comfort and familiarity of their own homes whilst receiving the personalised support they need. Based in the SS postcode area, we are well placed to reach families throughout Basildon and the surrounding neighbourhoods. Delivering care within a person's own home means the environment is already one of comfort, memories, and independence. Our role is to complement that setting, working respectfully within each household's routines, preferences, and rhythms so that support feels natural rather than intrusive. Our care is thoughtfully tailored to a broad range of needs. We support older people who may require a helping hand with daily living, from personal care and mobility assistance to companionship and meal preparation. For those living with dementia, we take a patient and understanding approach, focusing on continuity, gentle reassurance, and maintaining dignity through every interaction. Familiar faces and consistent routines can make a meaningful difference, and we strive to provide both. We also extend our support to younger adults and individuals living with physical disabilities, recognising that care needs vary widely across ages and circumstances. Whether someone requires short visits to assist with specific tasks or more comprehensive daily support, we work closely with each individual and their loved ones to create a plan that reflects their goals, preferences, and personality. Families often tell us that the greatest reassurance comes from knowing their relative is treated as a whole person, not simply a list of care requirements, and this philosophy sits at the heart of everything we do. As a newer presence in the community, Jess Foresight Healthcare has not yet received a CQC rating. This simply means the Care Quality Commission has not yet completed its first formal inspection. In the meantime, we remain fully committed to the standards of safety, effectiveness, compassion, responsiveness, and good leadership that the CQC framework champions. We welcome open conversations with families about how we work, and we are always happy to share information about our approach, our team, and the way we tailor care to each person we support. Choosing home care is a deeply personal decision, and we understand the trust families place in us when they invite us into their loved one's home. If you are exploring care options in Basildon for yourself or a family member, we would be delighted to hear from you. Please get in touch to have a friendly, no pressure conversation about your situation, and let us explore together how we can help your loved one continue living well at home.

We are Home Instead East Hertfordshire and Uttlesford, based in Sawbridgeworth and supporting adults in their own homes across this area. We support older people and people living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities or autism, people living with mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities, and younger adults who want help to live independently. In practice that means personal care, support with medication, meals, shopping and housework, help getting out to appointments, and the company that often matters as much as any task on a care plan. We put a great deal of weight on continuity and on the length of a visit. Home care done in a hurry is not worth much, particularly for somebody living with dementia, where a familiar worker arriving at a familiar time can be the difference between a settled day and an unsettled one. So we try hard to send the same small group of people, and we stay the time we agreed rather than rushing off to the next call. We also ask, at the outset and repeatedly afterwards, what somebody wants from us and what they would rather keep doing themselves. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please get in touch if you would like to talk about support at home.

Dengie Care Providers supports adults with a learning disability and autistic adults in their own homes in and around Chelmsford. Our work is about helping people run their own lives, in their own place, with support shaped around the person rather than a standard package. For some of the people we support that means practical help with cooking, shopping, laundry, bills and keeping on top of appointments. For others it means support to get out: using local buses, going to a club or a course, keeping a job going or visiting family. For many it is both, and the balance shifts as somebody gains confidence. We spend time at the beginning learning how a person communicates, what they enjoy, what they find overwhelming and what a difficult day looks like for them. We ask the people who know them best, and we write the plan with the person rather than for them. Routines are respected, because a change that seems small to us can be a large thing for the person living it. When something does have to change we explain it properly and give people time. Our staff are trained for the individuals they support, including communication and positive ways of responding when somebody is distressed, and we keep teams consistent because familiarity does the real work. If you would like to know more about the support we offer, please get in touch.

Kayoski Care provides care and support in people's own homes in Chigwell and across Essex. We work with older people, people living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities, autistic adults, people managing mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities and younger adults. Because that covers a good deal of ground, we do not offer one shape of support and hope it fits. Somebody whose confidence is slowly returning after a difficult stretch of poor mental health needs something quite unlike somebody in the later stages of dementia, and each deserves an arrangement actually built for them. We listen first, agree it in plain language, and revisit it honestly rather than leaving it in a folder. The practical work covers personal care, medication, meals, moving safely around the home, laundry, shopping, appointments and unhurried company. For other people we support it looks different again, with somebody alongside them at college, at work, at a group or on the bus into town. We keep the same small team around each person wherever the rota allows, because trust builds slowly in this work and careless scheduling can undo it in a fortnight. Continuity is part of what we offer rather than a bonus. The Care Quality Commission rated us good at our most recent inspection.

Live In Solutions provides care and support to people in their own homes across Colchester and the surrounding parts of Essex. We are a home care agency, and we believe that with the right support in place, staying at home is a realistic option for far longer than many families assume. We support older people who need help with the practical business of the day, from getting up and washed to managing medication, meals, shopping and the housework. We support people living with dementia, and we keep our teams small and familiar around each person, because a face somebody recognises is worth more than any amount of documentation. We also support people with physical disabilities and younger adults who want help arranged around their own lives. Support can be arranged in different shapes. For some people a short daily call is enough. For others, more substantial support across the day and night is what keeps things safe and manageable at home. We will talk through honestly which of those actually fits, including when we think a different sort of arrangement would serve someone better. Plans are agreed with the person, written clearly and reviewed regularly, because needs change and last year's arrangement is rarely this year's. If you would like to talk something through, please contact us. We are happy to visit and answer questions.

ACH Healthcare provides home care to adults in Harlow and the surrounding part of Essex. We support older people and younger adults, people living with dementia, people managing mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities and people who have sight or hearing loss. We also support people with eating disorders and people whose lives have been affected by alcohol or drug misuse. Our visits cover the practical ground that keeps somebody living comfortably at home: help with washing and dressing, medicines, cooking and eating well, laundry and tidying, shopping, and getting out to appointments, groups or simply to see people. How much support, and when, is a matter for the person rather than for our convenience. Continuity is what makes home care work or fail. Being helped with personal care by somebody unfamiliar is genuinely uncomfortable, and for anybody living with dementia a stranger at the door can unsettle a whole morning, so we keep the team around each person small and give notice when a change cannot be avoided. For people with mental health needs, and for people recovering from alcohol or drug misuse, reliability and an absence of judgement are most of what we bring. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We ask the people we support directly whether we are getting things right, and we act when the answer is no.

Homelium Essex provides care and support to people in their own homes in Benfleet and the surrounding part of Essex. We work with older people, younger adults and people living with dementia. Most people come to us because something at home has become harder than it was, and they want help that makes staying there possible rather than a move nobody has chosen. We try to provide exactly that and no more, because doing things for somebody that they can still manage takes something away from them. Everything starts with a visit and an unhurried conversation. What does the day look like now, what has become difficult, and what would the person rather keep doing for themselves. From that we agree who comes, when and what they do, with family or an advocate involved whenever the person wants them there. Visits cover personal care, help with medication, meals and drinks, housework and laundry, shopping, getting to appointments, and company for people whose days have grown very quiet. For those living with dementia we keep the same small team visiting, work at their pace and pay attention to the gradual changes that relatives often notice first. We also support family carers, because reliable help at home is frequently what allows a relative to keep caring without reaching exhaustion. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please get in touch if you would like to talk about support in the Benfleet area.

We are Hope Homecare, a home care provider working in Harlow and across Essex. Our support is delivered in people's own homes, and we take the view that our job is to fit around the life somebody already has rather than reorganise it for our convenience. The people we visit are varied. We support older adults who need help with personal care, medication, meals or simply getting safely through the day. We support adults living with dementia, where familiarity and patience count for more than anything else, and adults with a learning disability or autism, where the aim is usually to build confidence and independence rather than to do things for people. We work with people living with mental health conditions, with people who have physical disabilities, and with people who have a visual or hearing impairment, adapting how we communicate so that decisions stay in the hands of the person they concern. We also support younger adults, whose priorities and daily lives are quite different and are planned separately. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We would rather set that out plainly here than have families discover it elsewhere. Putting right what was identified is our main focus at present, and we are happy to talk openly with anyone who wants to ask us about it directly.

    • Home Care

We are Proactive Medicare, a home care agency supporting people in and around Rayleigh in Essex. Our carers come to people at home, fitting around the life that is already there rather than asking anyone to reorganise their day around us. We support older people with washing and dressing, medication, meals, shopping and the ordinary tasks that become harder over time, and we sit with people who would otherwise spend long stretches on their own. We also work with younger adults, with people living with dementia, with people managing mental health conditions, with people who have a learning disability or who are autistic, with those living with a physical disability, and with people who have lost some sight or hearing. Because our name says proactive, we try to live up to it. That means noticing the small changes, a skipped meal, a new bruise, a growing confusion about the time of day, and acting on them rather than filing them in a folder. It means asking families what they are worried about and telling them honestly what we see. It also means reviewing a care plan when a person's needs change, not when the calendar says so. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you are starting to look at care at home, whether that is one short visit a day or something more substantial, we are happy to come out, listen properly and set out what we could offer.

    • Home Care

We provide supported living in Colchester and across Essex for adults with learning disabilities and autistic people, working with younger adults and with older people who need support at home. Supported living means the house or flat belongs to the person rather than to us. We come in to help with whatever makes living there possible, and the aim is always that somebody runs their own life as far as they are able to. In practice that means the unglamorous things that make independence real: managing a tenancy, dealing with letters and bills, handling money, shopping and cooking, keeping appointments, getting to work, college or wherever a person wants to spend their time, and having staff alongside when something feels beyond facing alone. We ask what a person wants their life to look like before we suggest anything. Where somebody has grown older in their own home, we adjust what we provide and take on more help with personal care and health as it is needed, rather than treating a move as the obvious answer. Consistency of staff counts for a great deal in this work, particularly for autistic people, so we keep our teams as settled as we can and explain changes before they happen. We do not yet hold an overall rating from the Care Quality Commission and are glad to discuss that openly. If you are looking for support of this kind, please get in touch.

    • Home Care

We at Careinmyhome West Essex are a dedicated home care agency supporting older people and adults living across Epping and the wider Essex community. Our mission is simple: to help the people we care for live safely, comfortably and independently in the place they know and love best, their own home. Based in the CM postcode area, we cover Epping and surrounding neighbourhoods throughout West Essex, bringing personalised support directly to residents' doorsteps. Rather than asking people to adjust to an unfamiliar environment, we come to you, working within the rhythm of your household, your routines and your preferences. Whether you live in a family home, a bungalow or a flat, our team fits gently around the life you have built. Our specialisms reflect the varied needs of the community we serve. We provide older person care and general home care for those who benefit from a helping hand with daily living, from personal care and medication support to companionship and mealtime assistance. For families navigating a dementia diagnosis, we offer patient, informed support that focuses on preserving dignity, familiarity and reassurance. We also care for adults with physical disabilities, tailoring practical assistance to promote independence and confidence, and we support people living with visual or hearing impairment, adapting how we communicate and how we structure the home environment so that every interaction feels calm, clear and respectful. In practice, this means families can expect a thoughtful approach: care plans built around the individual, consistent carers who take time to get to know the person behind the needs, and open communication with loved ones so you always feel informed and involved. We understand that inviting a care team into a family home is a significant decision, and we treat that trust as a privilege. Our most recent CQC inspection, carried out in July 2021, rated us Requires Improvement overall. We were proud to be rated Good for being Effective, Caring and Responsive, reflecting the warmth, skill and attentiveness our team brings to every visit. The areas identified for improvement, in Safe and Well led, are ones we take seriously, and we are committed to strengthening our practice so that the quality of leadership and safety fully matches the standard of care our clients already experience day to day. If you are exploring home care options in Epping or the wider West Essex area for yourself or someone you love, we warmly invite you to get in touch. We would be glad to listen, answer your questions and help you understand how compassionate support at home could make a meaningful difference to your family.

We at You & I Care Essex are proud to provide compassionate home care across Chelmsford and the surrounding communities, supporting people to live safely and comfortably in the place they know best: their own home. Based in the heart of Essex, our team travels throughout Chelmsford and the wider CM postcode area, bringing personalised support directly to residents' doorsteps. Whether someone lives in a family home, a bungalow, or sheltered accommodation, we adapt our approach to fit seamlessly into their daily routine and familiar surroundings. Remaining at home, with its cherished memories and comforts, can make an enormous difference to wellbeing, and our carers work quietly and respectfully within that private space. Our support covers a broad range of needs, and we take pride in the breadth of expertise our team brings. We provide older person care and dementia care, offering gentle, patient support for those living with memory loss and helping families navigate the changes that come with a diagnosis. For adults with learning disabilities or autism, we focus on encouraging independence, communication, and confidence in daily living. We also support people managing mental health conditions, physical disabilities, and visual or hearing impairments, tailoring every visit to the individual rather than the diagnosis. Younger adults with complex needs are equally welcome, and we work closely with families to build routines that feel empowering rather than restrictive. In practice, this means our carers can help with everything from personal care, medication prompts, and mobility support to companionship, meal preparation, and accompanying clients to appointments or social activities. Families often tell us that the greatest relief comes from knowing a familiar, trusted face is arriving each day, someone who understands their loved one's preferences, history, and small daily rituals that matter so much. We are pleased to hold an overall rating of Good from the Care Quality Commission, with Good ratings across all five domains: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, and Well led. For families, this independent assessment offers reassurance that the care being delivered meets recognised national standards in safety, effectiveness, kindness, responsiveness to individual needs, and strong leadership behind the scenes. If you are exploring home care options for yourself or someone you love in Chelmsford or across Essex, we warmly invite you to get in touch. Choosing care is a deeply personal decision, and we are here to listen, answer your questions, and help you feel confident about the next step. Whatever the level of support required, our door is open and our team is ready to walk alongside you.

    • Home Care

We provide care at home in Basildon and the surrounding part of Essex, supporting older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia, people with mental health conditions and people with physical disabilities. People usually come to us at a point of change: a fall, a stay in hospital, a diagnosis, or the gradual realisation that managing alone has become harder than it used to be. Our job is to put enough support around that for life to carry on at home. For some people a single morning visit to help with washing, dressing and medication is enough. Others need calls through the day and into the evening, help with meals and shopping, and support to move about the house safely. Continuity is what we work hardest at. A carer who knows somebody notices when they are unwell, in pain or unusually quiet, and the person is spared explaining themselves again and again. Where somebody's mental health is unsettled, that familiarity matters even more, and for people living with dementia a familiar and unhurried visit does more good than anything written down. Our carers are trained for the needs they are asked to meet and can reach a senior colleague whenever they want advice. We do not yet hold an overall rating from the Care Quality Commission and are glad to discuss that openly. If you are thinking about care at home, please get in touch.

We provide care at home in Colchester and the surrounding part of Essex, supporting older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia and people with physical disabilities. People usually come to us at a point of change: a fall, a stay in hospital, a diagnosis, or the gradual realisation that managing alone has become harder than it used to be. Our part is practical. We arrange visits at the times that suit, help with washing and dressing, support with medication, a hand with meals, shopping and housework, and assistance to move about the house safely. Where needs are greater we arrange more frequent calls, and where they change we review the plan rather than leaving it as first agreed. What people really judge an agency on is whether carers arrive when they said they would and whether it is the same faces each week. We work at both. A carer who knows somebody notices when they are unwell, in pain or unusually withdrawn, and for people living with dementia a familiar and unhurried visit does more good than anything written down. Our carers are trained for the needs they are asked to meet and can reach senior colleagues for advice. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. We are Yourlife in Saffron Walden, supporting people in their own homes across the town and the surrounding parts of Essex. We work with older people and younger adults, people living with dementia, people with a physical disability, and people with a visual or hearing impairment. The point of care at home is that life carries on where it already is. Nobody has to pack up a house, leave a garden or learn a new neighbourhood. Our job is to fit around the household rather than reorganise it, so we begin by asking how things already run and build the support to match. Visits cover personal care, support with medication, meals and drinks, help around the house and with shopping, and getting out to appointments or simply out for a change of air. Some people want half an hour each morning. Others need several calls a day. The right amount often changes over time, and we would rather revisit it than leave somebody with an arrangement that has stopped fitting. Where sight or hearing has become restricted, small practical adjustments make a real difference to how independent somebody feels, and we treat that as part of the job. The Care Quality Commission has not yet published an overall rating for us. We welcome questions about training, supervision and how we handle concerns. Operating throughout the CB postcode area, our team travels to homes across Saffron Walden and the wider Debden area, bringing professional care directly to your doorstep. We understand that every home is unique, and we work respectfully within each person's familiar surroundings, adapting to the rhythms and routines that make a house feel like home. Whether someone lives in a village cottage, a town centre flat, or a family home filled with memories, we tailor our visits to fit seamlessly into daily life. Our care covers a broad range of needs, allowing us to support people at many different stages of life. For older adults, we offer reassuring, consistent support with everyday tasks, from personal care and medication reminders to companionship and meal preparation. For those living with dementia, our approach is patient and person centred, focusing on familiarity, gentle routines, and preserving dignity at every stage of the journey. We also support younger adults and those living with physical disabilities, helping people maintain independence, pursue their interests, and live life on their own terms. For individuals with visual or hearing impairments, we adapt our communication and care techniques to ensure every person feels understood, respected, and genuinely heard. What this means in practice is care that flexes around the individual rather than the other way round. Families often tell us how reassuring it is to know a familiar, trusted carer will be arriving, someone who knows their loved one's preferences, their favourite cup of tea, and the small details that bring comfort. We work closely with families, GPs, district nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure care remains joined up, responsive, and centred on what matters most to the person receiving it. Our most recent CQC inspection, carried out in November 2022, rated us Good across every domain: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, and Wellled. This consistent rating reflects the dedication of our team and our ongoing commitment to delivering care that families can truly rely on. We see this rating not as a destination but as a foundation, continually striving to improve and to listen to the people we support. Choosing home care is a deeply personal decision, and we know how much trust families place in us when they invite us into their lives. If you are exploring care options for yourself or someone you love in Saffron Walden, Debden, or the surrounding villages, we would be honoured to have a conversation with you. We provide care at home in Harlow and the surrounding parts of Essex, supporting older adults, people living with dementia, people with physical disabilities, people living with sight or hearing loss and younger adults. How long a visit lasts is something we think about carefully. A quarter of an hour is enough to complete a task and nowhere near enough to do it properly with somebody who is stiff, sore or slow first thing. So we would rather agree fewer and longer calls than fill a rota with short ones that look efficient and feel like being processed. We also pay attention to the gap between our visits, since that is most of somebody's day. Are the tablets reachable. Is there food they can manage alone. Has anybody rung. Those are what tell you whether a person is coping or quietly struggling, and our carers are asked to notice and to say so. Where sight or hearing has gone we agree how we will announce ourselves and every carer uses the same approach. We have not yet been given an overall rating by the Care Quality Commission, and we prefer to state that plainly. Ask us anything about how we recruit, train and check our carers.

We at Herts & Essex Independence at Home are a trusted home care provider based in Saffron Walden, Essex, supporting people to live well and independently within the comfort of their own homes. Our team delivers thoughtful, personalised home care across the local community, bringing warmth, reliability and genuine compassion to every visit. Operating from our base in the CB postcode area of Saffron Walden, we are proud to serve families throughout this beautiful market town and the surrounding Essex countryside. Rather than asking people to adapt to a new setting, we come to them, helping residents remain surrounded by the familiar comforts, memories and neighbourhoods they love. This local knowledge allows us to build meaningful connections with the people we support and the wider community around them. Our specialisms include home care for adults of all ages, dedicated support for people with learning disabilities and autism, and tailored care for younger adults. In practice, this means we take time to understand each person as an individual, shaping the support we offer around their routines, preferences, goals and personalities. For someone living with a learning disability or autism, this might mean consistent, familiar faces who understand sensory needs and communication styles. For a younger adult, it might mean support that respects independence, ambition and lifestyle, whether that involves help with daily living, community access, or building confidence to pursue education, work or hobbies. For families, it means the reassurance of knowing their loved one is treated with dignity, patience and respect at every visit. We are proud to be rated Good overall by the Care Quality Commission, with an Outstanding rating in the Caring domain. That Outstanding recognition reflects something we hold very close to our hearts: the genuine kindness, empathy and human connection our team brings to their work. Alongside this, our Good ratings across Safe, Effective, Responsive and Well led demonstrate a consistent commitment to safe practice, positive outcomes, responsive support and thoughtful leadership. For families weighing up their options, we hope these ratings offer meaningful reassurance that the care provided is not only professional but heartfelt. Choosing home care is a deeply personal decision, and we understand the trust families place in us when they invite our team into a loved one's home. • Home Care

De Vere Care Partnership covers south west Essex from Brentwood, providing care to people in their own homes across the surrounding towns and villages. The people we support are varied. Many are older adults who need help to keep living independently. We also work with younger adults, with people living with dementia, with those who have mental health needs, and with people living with a physical disability or a visual or hearing impairment. What holds it together is the approach rather than the category: we find out how someone wants their day to work, and then we fit around it. Home care lives or dies on reliability. A visit that arrives late, or arrives with a stranger, unsettles the whole day for someone who has built their routine around it. We plan our rounds with enough time to do the job properly and to travel between calls, and we keep the same care workers with the same people so that both sides know where they stand. We also talk to families. Where someone wants their relatives closely involved we make that easy, and where they would rather keep things private we respect that just as firmly. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is Good. If you are looking into care at home in this part of Essex, we are glad to talk, whether or not you end up choosing us.

WeCare Angels II provides care and support in people's own homes in Saffron Walden and the surrounding parts of Essex. We visit older people and younger adults who need help to manage daily life and stay independent at home. We will be straight with you about where we stand. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us as requires improvement. We accepted the findings rather than arguing with them, and we have been working through a clear plan since, with changes to training, record keeping, supervision and the way we check our own practice. We would rather say this ourselves than have you find it elsewhere, and we are happy to talk through exactly what has changed. What we are trying to do has not changed. Visits are agreed with the person, written in plain language and reviewed when circumstances shift. They might cover washing and dressing, medication, meals, shopping, laundry or company. We keep rounds local so people see familiar carers, and new carers are introduced rather than sent unannounced. Noticing matters as much as doing. A carer who knows someone spots a change in appetite, mood or steadiness and raises it early, and we expect that. If you would like to talk about what support might suit you or a relative, please contact us and we will arrange to visit.

    • Home Care

Supreme Care provides home care to adults in Chelmsford and the surrounding part of Essex. We support older people and younger adults, people living with dementia, people with physical disabilities, and people who have sight or hearing loss. Staying at home usually depends on a small number of practical things going right, so those are what we concentrate on. Help with washing and dressing, medicines taken as they should be, proper meals rather than whatever is easiest, the housework kept under control, the shopping done, and a reliable way of getting out to appointments and to see people. We fit visits around the person's day rather than around ours. Continuity is something we take seriously. Meeting an unfamiliar care worker at the door is unsettling for anybody and particularly so for somebody living with dementia, so we build a small team around each person and let you know in advance when that has to change. Where somebody has sight or hearing loss, we take the trouble to learn how they prefer to be approached and spoken with. We plan the support with the person and, where they want it, with their family, and we look at the plan again whenever circumstances shift. If somebody's needs outgrow what we can properly provide, we will say so rather than carry on regardless.

    • Home Care

We are Alina Homecare Maldon and Chelmsford, a home care agency supporting people in their own homes across this part of Essex. We work with older people and younger adults, people living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, and people with a physical disability. Care at home is not care delivered somewhere smaller. It happens in somebody else's space, on their terms, and we are there by invitation. That shapes how we work in practical ways: asking before we move anything, putting it back where it belongs, and fitting the visit around the household rather than expecting the household to fit around us. For people living with dementia, continuity is a condition of the work rather than a preference. A familiar carer makes a visit possible where an unfamiliar one, however capable, may not. For autistic people and adults with learning disabilities, predictability matters just as much: saying what will happen and when, and then being right about it. We keep families informed and review arrangements as needs change. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.

Novus Care provides live in care to people in their own homes in Canvey Island and the surrounding parts of Essex. We work with older people, with people who have physical disabilities or a visual or hearing impairment, and with younger adults who need support to live independently. Live in care suits people who need more than a few calls a day but who have no wish to leave their own home. A carer lives in the house and is there for the ordinary rhythm of the day, with personal care, medication, meals, the housework and the shopping, as well as company and a hand to get out and about. For many families it is the arrangement that makes staying at home realistic rather than merely hoped for. Because the carer shares the home, matching matters enormously. We take time over it, introduce people properly and change the arrangement if it is not right, because nobody should feel they have to put up with a poor fit in their own house. Support is planned with the person and their family, written in plain language and reviewed as needs change. We arrange cover for the carer's breaks so there is no gap. The Care Quality Commission has not yet published an overall rating for us. We are registered with them and work to their standards. Please get in touch to discuss what live in care would involve.

Rally Care provides care and support to people in their own homes in Chelmsford and the surrounding part of Essex. We work with older people, younger adults, people living with dementia, people managing mental health conditions and people with physical disabilities. Support belongs to the person receiving it. It is their home, their routine and their decision how help happens, and we fit around that rather than expecting the reverse. We visit first and take our time over the conversation, because what families assume is difficult and what the person finds difficult are often not the same thing. From that conversation we agree a plan, with family or an advocate involved whenever somebody wants them there, and we revise it as circumstances change rather than at fixed review dates. Visits cover personal care, medication, meals and drinks, housework and laundry, shopping, getting to appointments, and company for people whose days have grown quiet. For people living with dementia we keep the same small team visiting and work at their pace. Where somebody is managing a mental health condition we keep support consistent and work alongside their community team. Where there is a physical disability we look closely at equipment, transfers and how the home is arranged. We are strict about timekeeping and we would much rather hear early that something is not working than find out later. Please get in touch if you would like to talk about support in the Chelmsford area.

Radis Community Care provides home care to adults in Witham and the surrounding part of Essex. We support older people and younger adults, people living with dementia, people managing mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities, and people who have sight or hearing loss. We begin by asking how your day currently goes and where it stops working, then build the visits around that rather than around a standard package. The practical ground will be familiar: help with washing and dressing, medicines, cooking and eating properly, laundry and tidying, shopping, and getting out to appointments, groups or simply to see people. Some people want one brief call each morning. Others need support several times a day, and for some the company matters as much as the tasks. Continuity is what makes home care work or fail. Being helped with personal care by somebody unfamiliar is genuinely uncomfortable, and for anybody living with dementia a stranger at the door can unsettle a whole morning, so we keep the team around each person small and give notice when a change cannot be avoided. Where somebody has sight or hearing loss, we learn how they prefer to be approached and spoken with. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Timekeeping and continuity are what keep it that way.

We work with people living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities, autistic adults, people managing mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities and people with sight or hearing loss. We will be straight with you about our rating. The Care Quality Commission most recently rated us requires improvement overall. We are not going to present that as anything other than what it is. We accepted the findings, we have been working through them, and we would rather you heard it from us and put your questions to us directly. The work itself is easy to describe and hard to do consistently. Turn up when we said we would, stay for the time agreed, know the person we are visiting, and do what they want done rather than what is convenient. Personal care, medication, meals, shopping, laundry, appointments and company all come into it, and so does noticing when something is wrong and telling somebody. Support is agreed with each person in their own home, with family or an advocate involved where they wish, and reviewed when circumstances change. For autistic people we give notice of change in advance and keep the visiting team small. If you are considering us, please ask hard questions about what has changed and what we have still to put right.

We provide care in people's own homes in Colchester and across Essex. Our purpose is to support people to live where they want to live, with help that arrives when it should and is given by carers they know. We visit older people needing assistance with washing, dressing, meals and medication, and people living with dementia, where familiar faces and steady routines count for a great deal. We support adults who have a learning disability, autistic adults, people living with mental health conditions, people with a physical disability and people whose sight or hearing is impaired, along with younger adults needing support at home. We also support people working through problems with alcohol or drugs, where consistency and an absence of judgement matter most. Supporting that range properly means thorough briefing before a carer starts with somebody new, and small teams around each person so the face at the door is familiar. Everything begins with a home visit and an unhurried conversation about what would genuinely help. The plan is written plainly and reviewed as circumstances change. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please get in touch to talk it through.

Bluebird Care in west Essex provides support at home to adults in Brentwood and the surrounding area. The people we work with include older people who need help to stay in their own houses, adults living with dementia, people living with mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities, people with a visual or hearing impairment, people living with an eating disorder and younger adults who need support to live independently. That is a wide range, and it only works because support is built around the individual rather than issued as a standard package. A morning call to help an older person wash and dress has very little in common with supporting somebody managing an eating disorder, and we assess properly, agree the support with the person, and change it when their circumstances change. The practical work covers personal care, support and prompting with medication, meals, household tasks, shopping and help to get out and about. We aim to send the same small group of carers to each person and to arrive when we said we would, because that reliability is most of what makes home care work. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please get in touch to talk about what would help.

We are a home care agency working in Brentwood and across Essex. Our carers visit people in their own homes at agreed times, providing the support that makes staying at home a workable option. The people we support include older people and younger adults, people managing mental health conditions and people with physical disabilities. What we offer depends on the person. It might be help with washing and dressing, support with medication, preparing meals, keeping on top of the house, shopping, or getting out to appointments. For some people the practical help is the point. For others, the fact that somebody comes, sits down and takes an interest matters just as much. We plan care with the person it is for. That conversation covers the obvious things and also the ones that get overlooked, such as what somebody wants to keep doing for themselves and what they would rather we did not fuss about. The plan is reviewed as circumstances change instead of being written once and filed. We work at keeping the same carers going to the same households. Familiarity is not a nicety in this job. It is how somebody notices quickly that a person is not their usual self and does something about it. If you are considering support at home in this part of Essex, please get in touch and we will talk it through honestly.

We work with older people, younger adults, people living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities, autistic adults, people managing an eating disorder, people with physical disabilities and people with sight or hearing loss. We work on the principle that support belongs to the person receiving it. Their house, their routine, their decisions. We visit first, at no cost and with no obligation, and we talk properly about how the day goes now and what would make the difference. The plan follows from that, with family or an advocate involved whenever somebody wants them there. Consistency is something we are stubborn about. The same small team, introduced properly, arriving when we said and staying for the time agreed. Where somebody is living with dementia, or autistic, or cannot see or hear well, a familiar face and a predictable routine do more good than anything else we could offer. Support covers personal care, medication, meals and drinks, housework and laundry, shopping, getting out to appointments or somewhere sociable, and company. We provide care at home in Basildon and the surrounding part of Essex. The people we support include older people and younger adults, people living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities, autistic people, people with mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities, people with visual or hearing impairments and people whose difficulties involve alcohol or drugs. That is a wide range of need, and it only works if we ask before we plan. For an older person, help often centres on personal care, medication, meals and keeping the house manageable. For a younger adult it is more likely to be about independence: running a home, getting to work or college, handling money and keeping appointments. For somebody dealing with substance use, what helps most is usually staff who are steady, do not moralise and keep turning up when they said they would. Continuity is therefore the heart of this work rather than a detail of it. We try to send the same staff to the same people, because trust is slow to build and quickly undone, and a worker who knows somebody notices early when things are slipping. Our staff are trained for the needs they are asked to meet and have senior colleagues they can reach. We do not yet hold an overall rating from the Care Quality Commission and are glad to discuss that openly. If you are looking for support at home, please get in touch.

Home Instead Braintree supports people in their own homes across Braintree and the surrounding parts of Essex. We work with older people, adults living with dementia, those managing a mental health condition, people with a physical disability, and people living with a visual or hearing impairment. We also support younger adults who need help at home. Every arrangement begins with a proper conversation. We want to understand how somebody likes their day to run, what they still manage perfectly well themselves and where a hand would genuinely make a difference. That becomes a written plan in plain language which our carers follow and which we revisit as circumstances change rather than leaving it filed away. Visits can cover personal care, help with medication, preparing meals, household tasks, shopping, getting to appointments and simply spending time with someone. Companionship is a real part of what we do rather than an extra, because isolation does as much damage as many physical problems. Continuity matters a great deal in home care, so we keep the team around each person small. A familiar face at a predictable hour is worth far more than an efficient rota, and familiar carers notice when things are different. React Homecare in mid Essex provides care and support in people's own homes in Chelmsford and the surrounding area. Our work is built around the life somebody already has, and the aim is to support it rather than reorganise it for our convenience. We support older adults who need help with personal care, medication, meals or getting safely about the house, and people living with dementia, where familiarity and an unhurried manner are worth more than anything else we could offer. We work with adults who have a learning disability or autism, where the point is to build confidence and skills at the individual's own pace, and with people living with mental health conditions, where a steady relationship and early attention to changes make the greatest difference. We support people with physical disabilities and people with a visual or hearing impairment, adapting how we assist and how we communicate so that nobody is spoken about rather than spoken to, and we support younger adults, whose care is planned around work, study, family and independence. We are Ready Care, a home care agency in Harlow, Essex. We support people in their own homes, working with older people and younger adults, people living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, people managing a mental health condition, people with a physical disability or a sensory impairment, and people affected by alcohol and drug misuse. That breadth means there is no standard package to offer, and we do not pretend there is. We begin by finding out what an ordinary day looks like for the person, where it has become difficult and what they want to go on doing themselves, and the support follows from those answers. Some of the people we support need patience over a long stretch rather than intensity over a short one. Where progress is not a straight line, the most useful thing a carer can be is steady, arriving as agreed and not treating a difficult week as a reason to withdraw. We work alongside GPs, community teams and social workers, and we keep the same carers with the same people wherever the rota allows. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.

We are a home care provider based in Colchester, supporting people in their own homes across Essex. Our work covers older people needing help with personal care, medication and everyday tasks, people living with dementia, autistic adults and adults with a learning disability, people managing mental health conditions, people with a physical disability, people with a visual or hearing impairment and younger adults. We are clear with ourselves that these are different kinds of work, and that treating them as one would be a way of doing all of them poorly. So every package is planned individually. The first conversation takes as long as it needs, with the person and anyone they want present, and we ask the questions that referral forms never reach. What do you still want to do for yourself. What time does your medication really need to be taken. What makes a morning go badly. Who should we ring when something changes. Those answers become the plan, and the plan is revised when circumstances change rather than when a review falls due. We keep the same carers visiting the same people wherever the rota allows, because reliability is the foundation of this work, and our staff are trained for the specific needs they will meet.

Ross Nursing supports people in their own homes in and around Saffron Walden, Essex. We work with older people, adults living with dementia, people with a learning disability or autism, those managing a mental health condition or an eating disorder, people with a physical disability, people living with a visual or hearing impairment, and younger adults. That is a wide range of people, which is why we plan each arrangement individually rather than offering a set package. We begin by talking properly with the person about how they want their life to run, what they manage well themselves and where support would genuinely help, and we set that out in plain language so everyone involved knows what good support looks like. Visits can cover personal care, medication, meals, household tasks, shopping, appointments and company. Where needs are more involved we make sure our staff are trained for the specific tasks in front of them and we work alongside the health professionals already involved so that everyone is pulling in the same direction. We keep teams small so people see familiar faces, and families can always reach someone with a question or a worry. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. • Home Care

We at Right at Home Stevenage, Bishop's Stortford and Braintree are proud to provide compassionate home care across Dunmow and the surrounding communities in Essex. As a trusted home care agency, we bring professional, personalised support directly into the places our clients love most: their own homes. Operating from the CM postcode area, our team covers Dunmow and the wider region, reaching families throughout the East of England. Because our care takes place within each client's own home, the environment is always familiar, comforting, and uniquely theirs. We simply enhance it with the practical support, companionship, and expertise needed to help people live well and safely in the surroundings they cherish. Our specialisms reflect the diverse needs of the communities we serve. We support older people who wish to remain independent at home, offering everything from gentle companionship to more comprehensive daily assistance. For those living with dementia, our carers provide patient, understanding support that helps preserve dignity and routine, whilst offering reassurance to worried loved ones. We also work with younger adults, individuals with learning disabilities or autism, people with physical disabilities, and those living with visual or hearing impairments. Whatever the circumstance, our approach is tailored around the person, not the condition. In practice, this means families can expect a care plan built collaboratively, with time taken to understand each client's history, preferences, and goals. Our carers are trained to notice the small things: a favourite mug, a preferred routine, the way someone likes their tea. These details matter, because they are what make home feel like home. For relatives, this brings genuine peace of mind, knowing that a familiar, well matched carer is providing thoughtful support, whether that is help with personal care, medication, meal preparation, mobility, or simply a friendly chat. The Care Quality Commission has rated our agency Good overall, with Good ratings across every domain: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, and Well led, following the inspection completed in January 2022. This consistent recognition across all five areas reflects our commitment to safe practices, effective outcomes, genuinely caring relationships, responsive planning, and strong leadership. For families researching options, a fully Good rating offers meaningful assurance that the care being delivered meets the high standards you would expect for someone you love. Choosing home care is a significant decision, and we understand the mix of emotions that comes with it. If you are exploring support for a parent, partner, or family member in Dunmow or the surrounding Essex area, we would be delighted to have a conversation with you. There is no pressure, only a warm welcome and a willingness to listen. Together we can plan the kind of thoughtful, dignified care that helps your loved one continue living life on their own terms, at home.

    • Home Care

We at Blossom Healthcare Solutions are a home care agency based in Harlow, Essex, providing compassionate support to individuals who wish to continue living independently in the comfort of their own homes. Our team delivers personalised care across the CM postcode area and surrounding communities, tailoring every visit to the unique needs, routines, and preferences of the people we support. Because we come to you, our environment is the one that matters most: your home. We understand that familiar surroundings, treasured belongings, and established daily rhythms play an important role in wellbeing, particularly for older adults and those living with cognitive or sensory changes. Our carers work respectfully within your space, whether that means assisting with morning routines in a much loved family home, supporting a younger adult to maintain their independence in a first flat, or providing companionship during quieter afternoons. Being locally rooted in Harlow means we can respond swiftly and consistently, with carers who understand the local community. Our care specialisms span a broad range of needs. For older people, we offer everyday support with washing, dressing, medication reminders, meal preparation, and mobility. For those living with dementia, our approach focuses on gentle reassurance, consistent routines, and familiar faces, helping to reduce anxiety and support meaningful moments each day. We also support individuals with physical disabilities, adapting our care to promote dignity, choice, and comfort, and we work with people who have visual or hearing impairments, communicating in ways that suit each person and creating a safe, confident environment. Our support for younger adults recognises that care needs at any age deserve a bespoke, respectful response that promotes independence and personal goals. In practice, this means families can expect a considered, person centred plan of care rather than a one size fits all approach. We take time to understand life stories, preferences, and small details that make a big difference, from how a favourite cup of tea is made to which television programme brightens the evening. For relatives, particularly those living at a distance, our involvement can offer welcome peace of mind, knowing that a familiar carer is checking in regularly and that any changes in wellbeing will be noticed and shared. We are open about our most recent CQC inspection, which rated us Requires Improvement overall, with a Good rating in the Caring domain and Requires Improvement across Safe, Effective, Responsive, and Well led. We regard this feedback as an important part of our journey. The Good rating for Caring reflects what families most often tell us: that our carers are kind, attentive, and genuinely committed to the people they support. At the same time, we take seriously the areas identified for improvement and are focused on strengthening our systems, leadership, and responsiveness so that the quality of our care is consistently reflected across every aspect of our work. Choosing home care is a deeply personal decision, and we know families often approach it with a mixture of hope and worry. If you are exploring support for a loved one in Harlow or the wider Essex area, we warmly invite you to get in touch. We are happy to talk through your situation, answer your questions honestly, and help you understand whether our approach is the right fit for your family. Whatever you decide, our aim is to make the process feel a little easier and a lot more human.

    • Home Care

Care Just 4U provides care and support to people in their own homes in Harlow and across Essex. The people we work with include older people, younger adults, people living with dementia, people with learning disabilities, autistic people, people managing mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities and people with sight or hearing loss. Visits cover personal care, medication, meals and drinks, housework and laundry, shopping, getting out to appointments, work, college or something sociable, and company. For autistic people we give notice of change well in advance and pay attention to sensory needs. Where sight or hearing is affected we think about how we announce ourselves and explain what we are doing. We keep the team around each household small and introduce new support workers properly. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please get in touch if you would like to talk about support in the Harlow area.

Arranging and funding home care in Essex

What the assessment establishes

Funding and provider choice are separate decisions, and they are easier taken in that order. A care needs assessment sets out what someone can manage alone, what they cannot, and what support would close the gap, and anyone who appears to need care is entitled to one whatever their savings. Essex County Council carries out that assessment and the financial assessment that follows, and arranges funded support where a person qualifies. The written outcome is useful even to families who expect to pay for everything themselves, because it converts a vague sense that something must change into a specific list of visits and tasks that an agency can quote against. A relative providing unpaid support can ask for a carer's assessment in their own right at the same time.

The cost of an hour

Care at home is priced by the hour, with shorter calls charged proportionately and higher rates usual at weekends, on bank holidays and through the night. Where support is funded, the national means test decides the contribution, and anyone holding capital above the upper threshold arranges and pays for care privately. Funded support may arrive as an arranged service or as a direct payment, which hands you the choice of agency and the shape of the rota. Attendance allowance sits outside the means test altogether and is worth claiming whatever else is in place. Before agreeing a start date, ask for a full rate card in writing, including travel charges, bank holiday rates and the notice period on both sides.

Choosing between home care agencies in Essex

Whether the rounds actually reach the door

An agency registered to work in Essex is not necessarily an agency that will travel to your relative's address, because rounds are built around clusters of clients and travel time between them. Ask about coverage and available time slots in the very first call, since an agency that can only offer a late morning visit when help is needed at seven in the morning is not a real option however well it is rated. Work out in advance how many calls a day are needed, at what times, and what has to happen during each one. That preparation turns a listing of 475 agencies into a shortlist of a few.

Reading an inspection report on an agency

The Care Quality Commission inspects a home care agency as an organisation rather than as a building, so its rating reflects recruitment and training, medication handling, how calls are scheduled and covered, and how complaints are answered. Agencies here hold Outstanding, Good and Requires Improvement ratings, and some carry none at all because they registered too recently to be inspected. An unrated agency is not automatically a weak one, but there is no independent judgement to lean on, so ask harder questions and request references. Where a report exists, the sections on safety and responsiveness usually tell you more than the overall word.

The questions that draw out honest answers

Ask how many different carers will visit across a typical fortnight, because continuity affects daily life more than anything printed in a brochure. Ask what happens when a carer is delayed or off sick, and whether anyone tells the family. Ask how visits are logged, whether relatives can see those records, and how medication support is signed off. Ask how a package can be increased if needs change, and how quickly. An agency confident in its own service answers all of that without hesitation.

Frequently asked questions about home care in Essex

How do I arrange a care needs assessment in Essex?

Contact the adult social care team at Essex County Council and ask for a care needs assessment. Anyone who appears to need care and support is entitled to one regardless of income or savings, and you can make the request on a relative's behalf. A practitioner will look at daily tasks, mobility, medication and safety, then set out what support would meet the need. A financial assessment is carried out separately to establish who pays for what.

Will Essex County Council contribute towards home care?

It depends on the outcome of the needs assessment and the financial assessment taken together. Essex County Council applies the national means test, so capital above the upper threshold means funding care privately, while capital below it can bring a contribution towards the cost. Where care is funded, a direct payment is often available so that you can choose the agency yourself rather than accept an arranged service. Attendance allowance is not means tested and can be claimed alongside any of these arrangements.

Which agencies provide home care in Essex?

475 agencies registered to deliver care in people's own homes are listed for Essex. They include national providers running local branches as well as small independent agencies covering only a few towns. Coverage is the first thing to establish, because registration in the county does not guarantee that an agency's rounds reach a particular address. Each entry links to a profile showing the Care Quality Commission rating and the inspection findings behind it.

How does home care compare with moving into a care home?

Home care brings a carer to the door for planned visits while your relative stays in their own house with their routine, neighbours and belongings around them. A residential care home provides accommodation with support available through the day and night, and a nursing home adds registered nurses on site for clinical needs. Home care suits people whose needs fall at predictable points in the day and can be increased gradually as circumstances change. Where someone needs supervision around the clock, a residential setting is usually the more realistic option.

How early should a family start looking for an agency in Essex?

A few weeks is usually enough to compare agencies, arrange an assessment and let a package start gently rather than at full strength. Beginning early leaves room to trial a small number of visits and build on them as needs become clearer. When care is required on discharge from hospital the timescale shrinks to days, and a temporary package may be arranged for you while longer term choices are made. Nothing about that first arrangement is fixed, so treat it as a starting point.

What should I ask an agency before agreeing to a care package?

Ask how many different carers will come in a typical fortnight and whether the same people return, since continuity matters more than almost anything else. Ask how late or missed calls are handled and whether the family is told at the time. Ask how visits are recorded, whether relatives can see the records, and how medication is documented. Ask about minimum call lengths, notice periods and charges for travel or bank holidays, and ask for the answers in writing.
