About Us
We are Watergate Healthcare, a home care provider based in Colchester supporting older people and younger adults in their own homes across the town and the surrounding parts of Essex.
Our work is straightforward and we think it is better for being so. We visit people where they live and help with whatever has become difficult, so that leaving home does not become the only option on the table. That might mean help washing and dressing at the start of the day, support with medication, meals cooked properly, keeping on top of the house, or an evening call to help somebody settle safely for the night.
The things that decide whether home care actually works are unglamorous. Arriving when we said we would. Staying for the agreed time rather than rushing off. Sending somebody the person already knows. We plan our rounds so those things are achievable rather than aspirational, and we would rather decline a package than take one on and deliver it badly.
Nothing starts until we have been out, met the person and talked properly about what would help, with family involved if that is wanted. The plan is agreed together and revised as needs change. We work alongside GPs, district nurses and social workers where they are involved.
