About Us

We are St Helena Care and Support, working in Colchester and the surrounding part of Essex. We provide care and support to adults in their own homes.

We support older people and people living with dementia, people with physical disabilities, people with a visual or hearing impairment, and younger adults who need help with daily life. In practice that means personal care, support with medication, meals, shopping and housework, help getting out to appointments, and the company that often matters as much as any task on a care plan.

Being at home is what most of the people we visit want above everything else, so our job is to make that workable for as long as possible. We start by asking what somebody actually wants from us and what they would rather keep doing for themselves, and we revise that as things change rather than at a fixed review date.

We also try to keep the same small group of workers going to the same person. A familiar face is easier to let into the house, and a worker who knows somebody notices sooner when they are unwell or unhappy.
