This page sets the home care agencies in West Sussex side by side, so families can compare providers on the evidence rather than on whichever name a friend happened to mention. Two hundred and five agencies match the search, all of them registered to deliver personal care in a person's own home rather than in a residential setting. Inspection outcomes across the list include Outstanding, Good and Requires Improvement, alongside agencies not yet carrying a published rating, which is common where a provider has registered recently. West Sussex County Council is the body that carries out a care needs assessment and arranges funded support for anyone who meets the eligibility rules, so a call to the council is a sensible early step whoever expects to pay. From there, open the profiles that cover your postcode, read what inspectors recorded in the full report behind each rating, and use those findings to decide which agencies deserve a conversation about timings, tasks and cost.

- Home Care
We are Care Outlook (Crawley), a home care agency supporting people in their own homes across Crawley and West Sussex. We work with older people and younger adults, people living with dementia, people managing a mental health condition, people with a physical disability or a sensory impairment, and people affected by alcohol and drug misuse. Home care only works when it is built around the person rather than around our convenience, so we begin by asking what a normal day looks like and where it has become difficult. The answer shapes the visits. It also changes over time, so we review arrangements instead of letting an old plan run on past its usefulness. We put particular effort into continuity of carers. It is harder to roster and it is the thing that improves care most, especially for someone with dementia or anyone who needs time before they will trust a new face. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We are not going to present that as anything other than what it is. We know what the inspection found, we have work in hand on it, and we would rather discuss it openly with a family considering us than have them come across it elsewhere.

GoodOaks Homecare supports people in their own homes across Horsham, Crawley and the surrounding parts of West Sussex. We arrange our visits around the person rather than around a standard pattern, and we would rather provide fewer, longer visits that actually achieve something than a run of short calls that leave everyone feeling rushed. Support covers personal care, medication, meals, housework and shopping, and equally the business of getting out, staying in touch and keeping a shape to the week. Most of our work is with older people, including many living with dementia, and consistency is where we put our effort. A carer who knows a household can tell within a minute how someone is today and adjusts without making anything of it. We also support adults living with mental health needs, people with a physical disability and people with a visual or hearing impairment, adapting how we communicate and how we work in someone's home. Younger adults are part of our work too. We are honest about what home care can achieve and where its limits are, and we will say clearly when we think a situation is changing rather than letting it drift. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission was good. If you are considering care at home in this area, please get in touch and we will come and talk it through with you.

Great Grace provides care and support in people's own homes in Crawley and the surrounding part of West Sussex. We work with older people, adults living with dementia, people with mental health needs, people with physical disabilities and younger adults. Care at home only works when it is built around the household rather than around the provider, so that is where we start. Before anything begins we sit down with the person, and with family if they want them there, and work out what would actually help, what they would rather keep doing themselves and how they like things done in their own home. Some people want brisk and efficient visits and nothing else; others want somebody who will make a cup of tea and talk for ten minutes. Both are reasonable and we plan accordingly. From there we build a small, settled team, because a familiar face at the door changes the whole feel of a visit. For people living with dementia that consistency is the most useful thing we can offer, and we also take time to learn about a person's life because it helps us understand what we are seeing. Where we support people with mental health needs we work in step with the community teams involved and aim to be the dependable part of the week. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you are looking into home care in this area, we are happy to come out and talk it through.

- Home Care
Platinum Homecare on the South Coast supports older people in their own homes in Chichester and across the surrounding parts of West Sussex. We have kept our focus narrow on purpose. Supporting older people well is enough to be getting on with, and doing fewer things properly beats spreading ourselves thin. Nearly everyone who contacts us wants to carry on living where they are. Our job is to make that practical rather than to take over. Depending on what is needed, that might be a single morning call to help someone wash, dress and get the day going, several visits a day covering personal care, medication, meals and company, or a longer sit so a family carer can have a few hours to themselves. The first conversation is where the work really starts. We want to know how the day usually runs, what has become hard, and what the person can still do perfectly well and would rather we left to them. People are usually very clear about that, and respecting it is as much the job as the tasks we take on. Continuity is where we put our effort. A familiar carer who knows the house and the routine is worth more than any amount of paperwork, and we keep visit times as steady as rotas allow. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please ring us to talk things through.

Here at One to One Plus North, we provide home care to people living in Crawley and the surrounding areas of West Sussex. Our work centres on supporting individuals in the place that matters most to them, their own home, where they feel comfortable, familiar and in control of their own lives. We work with a range of people, including older adults, younger adults, and individuals with a learning disability or autism. Every person we support has their own routines, preferences and ways of doing things, and we take the time to understand what good support actually looks like for them as an individual. We do not believe in a one size fits all approach, and the people we support should never feel like they are simply being fitted into a schedule. Our team is made up of care workers who know the people they support well. Consistency matters enormously in home care, and we work hard to make sure that familiar faces are visiting regularly, so that trust can develop naturally over time. When someone lets you into their home, that is not something we take lightly. We are proud to have received a rating of Good from the Care Quality Commission, which reflects the standard of care we consistently aim to provide. We welcome the scrutiny that comes with regulation because it helps us reflect, improve and remain accountable to the people who rely on us. If you are looking into home care for yourself or someone you love, we understand that it can feel like a big step. We are always happy to have an honest conversation about what we offer and whether we might be the right fit. Please do not hesitate to get in touch with us here at One to One Plus North.

Chanmil Care supports people in their own homes in Worthing and across this part of West Sussex. We work with older people, people living with dementia, adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, people living with mental ill health, people with a physical disability, people with visual or hearing impairment, younger adults and people affected by alcohol or drug misuse. We take on a broad range of need on purpose. People's circumstances rarely stay neatly in one category, and being able to keep supporting somebody as things change matters more than tidy specialisms. Our visits cover personal care, support with medication, meals, help around the house and getting out and about. For younger adults and for people with a learning disability, the work is often less about personal care and more about making an ordinary week workable. Where somebody is struggling with addiction or with poor mental health, we work without judgement. Reliability and being treated as a capable adult do far more good than advice nobody asked for. Continuity is where we concentrate our effort, and it is what allows us to notice when something changes. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We provide care at home in Billingshurst and the surrounding part of West Sussex, supporting older people and younger adults. The people we work with include those living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities, autistic people, people with mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities and people with visual or hearing impairments. Needs that varied cannot be met from a standard package, so we ask before we plan. For an older person, help often centres on personal care, medication, meals and keeping the house manageable. For a younger adult it is more likely to be about independence: running a home, getting to work or college, handling money and keeping appointments. Where somebody is living with dementia, a familiar and unhurried carer does more good than anything written down. We work across a village and the countryside around it, which makes reliability a matter of planning rather than good intentions. We would rather be honest about which places and times we can cover than promise visits we cannot keep. Where we do commit, we try to send the same carers consistently. Our staff are trained for the needs they are asked to meet and have senior colleagues they can reach. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. If you are thinking about care at home for yourself or a relative, please get in touch and we will talk it through without any pressure.

At Caremark Chichester, we provide home care to people living in Chichester and the surrounding areas of West Sussex. Our work centres on supporting individuals to remain in the comfort and familiarity of their own homes, with the right level of help to live as independently and comfortably as possible. We work with a wide range of people, including older adults, younger adults, and those living with dementia, learning disabilities, autism, mental health conditions, physical disabilities, visual or hearing impairments, and eating disorders. We take time to understand each person properly before care begins, so that what we put in place genuinely reflects how someone wants to live their life, not just what a form says they need. Our most recent CQC inspection rated us as Good, which we are proud of, though we see it as a marker of where we are rather than a reason to stand still. We are always looking at how we can improve the experience of the people we support and the team who deliver that support day to day. The people we care for are at the heart of every decision we make. Whether someone needs a short visit each morning or more complex, ongoing support throughout the day and night, we aim to provide consistency, reliability and genuine human connection. We know how important it is to have a familiar face at the door, someone who listens and who treats your home with respect. If you are looking for home care in Chichester or the surrounding area, either for yourself or someone you care about, we would be glad to have a straightforward conversation about what you need. There is no obligation, and we will always be honest about what we can offer and how we can help.

We are Regal Home Care, and we provide care and support to adults in their own homes in Crawley and the surrounding parts of West Sussex. Our visits range from a single short call each day through to several hours of support, arranged to fit the person's routine. We help older people with washing and dressing, medication, meals, shopping and the household jobs that become harder with time. We support adults living with dementia, where the same familiar care workers arriving at predictable times do more good than anything else we can offer. We also support people living with mental ill health, where a routine that holds and a dependable presence can count as much as any clinical input, people with physical disabilities, taking care over equipment and how somebody prefers to be assisted, and people living with sight or hearing loss, where announcing ourselves clearly and giving information in a usable form is part of the job. Everything starts with a visit and a proper conversation at home, with family or an advocate present if that is wanted. The plan is written with the person, records how they want things done, and is reviewed rather than filed away. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please get in touch to talk it through.

We are Home Instead covering Chichester and Bognor Regis, and we support people in their own homes across this part of West Sussex. We work with older people and younger adults, people living with dementia or a mental health condition, people with a physical disability, and people with a visual or hearing impairment. Our visits are built around the person rather than around a list of tasks. That means enough time to do things properly, and enough time for the conversation that usually matters as much as the help itself. Support covers personal care, medication, meals and drinks, the house and the shopping, and getting out to appointments, the coast or simply somewhere different for an hour. We match carers to households carefully and then keep that match steady. Somebody who has been visiting for months knows what a good day looks like for that person, which is exactly what allows them to raise a concern before it becomes a crisis. It also means the person opening the door is a familiar face rather than a stranger with a rota. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us outstanding overall. We are proud of that. We are also clear that a rating describes what inspectors found on particular days, and the work of holding that standard happens every morning regardless. If you are thinking about care at home around Chichester or Bognor Regis, please get in touch and we will talk it through.

We at My Homecare West Sussex are proud to offer dedicated home care across Horsham and the surrounding communities of West Sussex, supporting people to live well and independently in the place they know best: their own home. Based in the RH postcode area, our team works throughout Horsham and the wider South East region, bringing personalised support directly to people's doorsteps. Operating across this attractive market town and its neighbouring villages, we understand the local community and the importance of familiar surroundings in maintaining wellbeing, comfort, and a sense of belonging. Whether a loved one lives in a town centre flat or a quieter country cottage, our carers travel to meet them where they are, building trusted relationships that fit naturally into daily life. Our specialism is home care, which means we focus entirely on delivering thoughtful, tailored support within the home environment. In practice, this allows residents to keep their routines, hobbies, and connections to family and neighbours whilst receiving the help they need with everyday tasks. From assistance with personal care and medication reminders to companionship, meal preparation, and support with mobility, every care plan is shaped around the individual rather than fitted to a template. For families, this means peace of mind that a loved one is being looked after with patience and respect, and that care can flex as needs change over time. We work closely with relatives, keeping communication open and ensuring everyone feels informed, involved, and reassured. We are pleased to hold an overall Good rating from the Care Quality Commission, with Good ratings across all five inspection domains: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, and Well led. This recognition reflects our ongoing commitment to delivering care that is consistently safe, attentive to the people we support, and thoughtfully managed. It is a standard we work hard to uphold every day, because behind every visit is a person who deserves kindness, dignity, and genuine attention. Choosing care for someone you love is rarely an easy decision, and we understand the questions and concerns that come with it. If you are exploring home care options in Horsham or anywhere across West Sussex, we warmly invite you to get in touch. Our team is here to listen, to answer your questions honestly, and to help you find the right path forward for your family. Whatever stage you are at, you are welcome to reach out at your own pace.

Bespoke Home Care supports people in their own homes in Crawley and across West Sussex. We visit older people and younger adults, people living with dementia, people with a learning disability or autism, people living with mental ill health, people with physical disabilities and people whose sight or hearing has changed. The name reflects how we try to work. Care at home is only useful if it fits the household it goes into, so we spend time at the start understanding how the day runs, what somebody still does for themselves and wants to keep doing, where the real difficulties are and who else is already helping. Then we propose support that matches, and we would rather start small and build than take over more of a person's life than necessary. In practice that means help with washing and dressing, medication, meals, shopping, laundry and appointments, and often a good deal of company. We plan visits so that people see the same carers, which is what turns care into a relationship and what allows our staff to notice when something has changed. We keep families informed, particularly those living too far away to call in, and we raise concerns promptly rather than waiting to be asked. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you are considering support at home for yourself or a relative, we will come out, talk it through properly and be honest about what we can offer.

We provide care at home across West Sussex, supporting older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia, people with physical disabilities and people with loss of sight or hearing. Most people who approach us are trying to avoid a move they do not want. Our part in that is practical: visits at the times that suit, help with washing and dressing, support with medication, a hand with meals, shopping and housework, assistance to move about safely, and company for somebody who spends too much of the week alone. Where needs are greater we arrange more frequent calls, and where they change we revisit the plan rather than leaving it as it was first agreed. Continuity is the part we work hardest at. A carer who knows somebody notices when they are unwell, in pain or unusually quiet, and the person is spared explaining themselves again and again. For people living with dementia, a familiar and unhurried visit does more good than anything written in a care plan. Covering a large county also means being honest about which places and times we can reliably reach rather than promising more than we can keep to. Our carers are trained for the needs they are asked to meet and can reach senior colleagues for advice. We do not yet hold an overall rating from the Care Quality Commission and are glad to discuss that openly. If you are weighing up care at home, please get in touch.

Abbey Care provides support in people's own homes in Haywards Heath and across West Sussex. We work with older people, with younger adults, with people living with dementia, with people who have a learning disability or autism, with people managing mental ill health, and with people whose physical disability or loss of sight or hearing makes everyday tasks harder than they used to be. Care at home works best when it is built around a real life rather than a template. So we ask the practical questions first. What time do you actually like to get up? Which parts of the day are difficult and which are fine? Who else is helping, and what do they need from us? From there we agree a plan, put it in writing and review it as often as it needs reviewing. Our staff help with washing and dressing, medication, meals, shopping, laundry and getting out and about, but a great deal of the value lies in continuity. When the same carers visit the same homes they learn what normal looks like for that person, and they notice quickly when something has changed. That is often what keeps a small problem from turning into a hospital admission. The Care Quality Commission rated us good at our most recent inspection. If you are thinking about support for yourself or for a relative, we are happy to visit, talk it through and be honest about what we can and cannot do.

We at Coastal Homecare (Mid-Sussex) are proud to provide compassionate home care across Burgess Hill and the surrounding West Sussex communities. As a dedicated domiciliary care agency, we support people to live well in the place they know and love best: their own home. Operating from the RH postcode area, our team is well placed to reach families throughout Burgess Hill and the wider Mid Sussex region. Being part of the South East community means we understand the rhythms of local life, from quiet village lanes to bustling town centres, and we tailor our visits to fit seamlessly around the routines, preferences and personalities of those we support. Home care, by its very nature, is deeply personal. We offer specialist support across a broad range of needs, including older person care, dementia care, mental health support, and care for adults living with a learning disability or autism. We also support younger adults, individuals with physical disabilities, and those with visual or hearing impairments. In practice, this means we take time to understand each person as an individual: their history, their hopes, their daily preferences and the small things that bring comfort and joy. Whether someone needs a reassuring morning visit, help with personal care, support with medication, companionship through the afternoon, or more comprehensive assistance throughout the day, our approach is always shaped around the person, never the other way round. For families, our role often extends beyond practical care. We become a trusted point of contact, a familiar friendly presence, and a reliable source of reassurance when loved ones cannot always be there in person. We know how much peace of mind matters when a parent, partner or relative is being supported at home, and we work hard to communicate openly and consistently with everyone involved in a person's care. Our commitment to quality is reflected in our CQC rating of Good across every domain assessed: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well led. This independent recognition reassures families that the support we provide meets the standards expected by the regulator, and that we take our responsibilities to those in our care seriously. We see this rating not as a finishing line but as a foundation we continually build upon, listening to feedback, refining our practice, and investing in the training and wellbeing of our team. Choosing home care is a significant decision, and we understand the emotions that come with it. If you are exploring options for yourself or someone dear to you in Burgess Hill or nearby, we warmly invite you to get in touch. We will listen carefully, answer your questions honestly, and help you understand whether our support is the right fit. Whatever you decide, we are here to make the journey a little easier.

We provide support in people's own homes across Bognor Regis and the surrounding parts of West Sussex. Our focus is deliberately narrow. We support older people who need help to keep living independently, and we support people with a learning disability and autistic people who want a life of their own with the right backing behind it. Support looks very different across those groups, and we would not pretend otherwise. For an older person it might mean personal care, help with medication and someone reliable calling in each day. For a younger adult with a learning disability it might mean support to get to college or work, to run a household, to see friends, or to handle situations that feel overwhelming. What the two have in common is that the person decides what they want their life to look like, and we fit around that. We are careful about matching. The right support worker makes the difference between a visit someone dreads and one they look forward to, so we take time over introductions and we listen when a match is not working. Families and support networks are part of the picture too, and we keep them involved to whatever degree the person wants. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please get in touch if you would like to talk about support in this area.

We are Home Instead Horsham, Haywards Heath and Burgess Hill, supporting older people in their own homes across this part of West Sussex. We have kept our focus deliberately clear. Home care for older people is what we do, and we would rather do that thoroughly than spread ourselves across every kind of provision. In practice our visits cover help with washing and dressing, support with medication, preparing meals, keeping on top of the house, shopping, help getting out to appointments, and the ordinary company that often matters as much as any task written on a care plan. We put a great deal of weight on continuity and on the length of a visit. Home care done in a hurry is not worth much. So we try hard to send the same small group of people, and we stay the time we agreed rather than rushing off to the next call. We also ask, at the outset and repeatedly afterwards, what somebody wants from us and what they would rather keep doing themselves. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please get in touch if you would like to talk about support at home.

- Home Care
We provide care at home in Burgess Hill and the surrounding parts of West Sussex. Those we support include older adults, people living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, people with physical disabilities, people living with sight or hearing loss and younger adults. Our work covers washing and dressing, medication, meals, shopping and keeping a household ticking over, aimed at what has genuinely become hard rather than at taking over what somebody can still manage themselves. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We would rather put that here than have a family find it elsewhere and wonder why we said nothing about it. We accept what was identified, we are working through it, and we are not going to claim in a paragraph that everything is resolved, because that would not be honest. What we would ask is that anybody considering us puts the question to us directly and presses for specifics: what was found, what has changed, and what is still outstanding. We would also encourage people to speak to those we already visit, since their account of us carries more weight than ours.

- Home Care
We provide care and support to older people in their own homes in Lancing and the surrounding area. Our purpose is straightforward: to make staying at home a realistic choice rather than a daily struggle. What that takes varies from one person to the next, so we work it out at home rather than offering a standard package. For some people a single morning call is plenty, to help with washing and dressing and to make sure medication has been taken. For others we come several times a day, with meals prepared, shopping fetched, the house kept in order, company, and a hand to get to an appointment or simply out for a while. Some want a great deal of help and others want very little and would rather we did not take over the rest. Reliability is what matters most and it is mostly unglamorous. Arriving when we said we would. Staying the full visit. Sending carers the person already knows, because having to explain your own household to a stranger every week wears somebody down. Ringing a family before they have to ring us. We keep our rounds tight and local so those are realistic. Everybody who works for us is checked and trained before they visit anyone, and we are registered with and regulated by the Care Quality Commission. If you are considering care at home, please ring and ask us anything.

We are Rare Impact Care, a home care agency in Crawley, West Sussex. We support older people and younger adults in their own homes, including people living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, people managing a mental health condition and people with a physical disability. Home care only works when it is built around the person rather than around our convenience, so we begin by asking what a normal day looks like and where it has become difficult. The visits follow from that, and because circumstances change we review the arrangement instead of letting an old plan run on past its usefulness. We put particular effort into continuity of carers. It is harder to roster and it improves care more than anything else, especially for someone with dementia or anyone who needs time before they will trust a new face, or who communicates in a way that takes a while to learn. We keep families informed and speak up early when we notice a change. We are registered with the Care Quality Commission and have not yet been given an overall rating.

Esme Blake Care provides support at home to adults in Haywards Heath and the surrounding part of West Sussex. We visit older people who need help to carry on living in their own houses, people with physical disabilities, people with a visual or hearing impairment and younger adults who need support to live independently. Our visits cover personal care given without rushing, prompting and support with medication, preparing meals, help with laundry, shopping and keeping the home in order, and getting out to appointments or simply out for some air and company. For people with a physical disability we pay particular attention to equipment, moving and handling done properly, and above all to allowing enough time. Transfers and personal care take as long as they take, and rushing is where both dignity and safety go. For people with sight or hearing loss we adapt how we announce ourselves and explain what we are doing, because being unable to follow what is happening around you is isolating in a way that is easy to underestimate. We aim to send the same small group of carers to each person and to arrive when we said we would, because that reliability is most of what makes home care work. Please get in touch if you are arranging care at home locally.

We are West Sussex, a home care agency based in Worthing. We support older people and younger adults in their own homes across the surrounding area. Most people come to us with one question, which is whether somebody can carry on living at home. That is what we help with. For one person it may be a short call each morning so that the day starts safely. For another it is several visits covering personal care, help with medication, meals, moving about safely and the practical business of keeping a household running. We would rather work out an arrangement that genuinely fits than offer something standard and adjust afterwards. Because the work happens in somebody else's home, how we conduct ourselves there matters as much as what we do. Arriving when we said we would. Asking how a person likes things done and remembering the answer. Putting things back where they belong. Treating being let in as something earned rather than owed. We aim to send the same carers to the same households, because a carer who knows somebody notices when they are not themselves, and we review support as needs change. We are registered with the Care Quality Commission and have not yet been given an overall rating.

We are Supporting Positive Futures, and we provide support in people's own homes in Bognor Regis and the surrounding parts of West Sussex. We work mainly with adults with learning disabilities, autistic adults and people living with mental ill health, including many younger adults who are building a life of their own. Our starting point is that support should make somebody's life bigger, not smaller. So while we help with the practical things, cooking, cleaning, budgeting, shopping, appointments, medication and keeping a tenancy going, we are just as interested in what the person wants to do with their week. That might be college, a job, a gym, a band, a football club, seeing friends or getting to the seafront. We help arrange it and we help keep it going, and we step back as soon as stepping back is the right thing to do. We pay attention to how people communicate and to what makes a day feel manageable. Predictable routines, clear information in good time and staff who understand somebody's particular sensitivities all make a real difference, so we get those details right and we record what works. We are registered with the Care Quality Commission, and our staff are recruited with full checks and trained for the people they support. If you are a family member, a social worker or somebody looking for support yourself, please get in touch.

We support older people and people living with dementia, people living with mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities, people with a visual or hearing impairment, and younger adults who need help with daily life. Depending on the person, that might be one short call a day or several visits covering personal care, medication, meals, housework, shopping and company. Because we are guests in somebody's home, they set the terms. We ask how things are usually done and we do them that way rather than arriving with a system of our own. We agree the times that suit and we keep to them, since a late call is no small matter when somebody is waiting to get up or needs their tablets. Wherever we can we send the same small group of workers, because a familiar face is easier to let in and a worker who knows somebody notices sooner when they are unwell. We have not yet received an overall rating from the Care Quality Commission. Until we have, please ask us direct questions about recruitment, training, supervision and who answers the phone out of hours.

Kendall Care provides care and support in people's own homes across Littlehampton and the surrounding parts of West Sussex. We work with older adults, younger adults, people living with dementia, people with learning disabilities and autistic people, people with physical disabilities or loss of sight or hearing, and people managing mental health conditions. That is a wide remit and it only works if we start by listening. No two of these situations call for the same response, so we sit down with the person, find out what they want their days to look like and where help is genuinely needed, and build the visits from there. It takes longer at the start and saves trouble later. The support might be personal care, medication, meals, shopping, getting out of the house, or simply company for somebody who lives alone and sees very few people. We keep the same carers with the same households as far as the rota allows, because familiarity is what makes the arrangement comfortable rather than intrusive. Care plans are written in plain language, agreed with the person, and updated when circumstances change. If you are considering support at home in Littlehampton, for yourself or a relative, please contact us and we will come and talk it through.

Third Hand Care in West Sussex provides care and support to people in their own homes in Chichester and the surrounding area. We work with older people and with younger adults, and our experience covers dementia, learning disabilities and autism, physical disabilities, and sight and hearing loss. We begin with a visit at home and a straightforward conversation about what would actually help, and about what somebody intends to carry on doing for themselves, because support that takes over more than it needs to does more harm than good. The plan is agreed together and changes as life changes. Support may be a single short call each day, several visits for personal care, medication, meals, housework and company, or longer stretches for somebody who should not be alone. Across the range of needs we meet, training is practical rather than a formality, and our carers have the knowledge for the people they visit before they go out. Continuity is what families notice most, so we keep rounds tight and local, send the same carers wherever we can, and say in advance when a new face is coming. We are registered with and regulated by the Care Quality Commission.

Guardian Angel Carers Mid Sussex supports people in their own homes in Burgess Hill and across Mid Sussex. We work with older people, with people living with dementia, with people who have physical disabilities and with younger adults who need support to live independently. Our view is that home care should fit the life someone already has. So we ask about the routines, the habits and the small preferences that make a day feel normal, and we build the visits around those rather than around a standard schedule. That might mean help with washing and dressing, medication, meals and the house, or company and a hand to get out to the shops, the club or an appointment. Continuity is the part that matters most to the families we work with, so we introduce carers properly before they start, keep the same small team going into each home, and let people know if we are delayed. Familiar carers spot the changes that matter, an appetite that has dropped, a new unsteadiness on the stairs, a mood that has shifted, and those are usually worth acting on quickly. We keep relatives informed, which matters particularly when family live too far away to drop in. The Care Quality Commission rated us good overall at our most recent inspection. If you would like to talk about support at home in Mid Sussex, please ring us and we will come and discuss it with no obligation.

Careline 24 provides care and support to people in their own homes in Chichester and across West Sussex. We are a home care agency, which means we come to you and build support around the life you already have. The people we visit are a varied group. Older people who need help with washing, dressing, medication, meals and the running of the house. People living with dementia, supported by a small and familiar team so that a recognisable face arrives rather than a stranger. Adults with learning disabilities and autism, and younger adults who want help fitted around work, study or family life. People living with mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities and people living with sight or hearing loss. Every arrangement starts with a proper conversation about what somebody wants help with, what they would rather keep doing for themselves and what a good day actually looks like for them. Where a person communicates in a particular way, our staff learn it before the first visit rather than working it out afterwards. Where families are closely involved, we keep them informed without talking over the person in the middle. Support can grow or shrink as circumstances change, and we review plans regularly rather than assuming last month's arrangement still fits. If you are considering care at home, please contact us and we will be honest about what we can reliably cover.

We are Prestige Nursing in Worthing, working from Littlehampton, and we provide care in people's own homes across this part of West Sussex. We support older people, including many living with dementia, people with physical disabilities, people living with sight or hearing loss, and younger adults. Every arrangement begins with a proper conversation. We want to know how the day usually runs, what somebody can manage perfectly well on their own, where the difficulties actually arise, and what would make the most difference. Only then do we put a plan together, and we expect to revise it, because needs rarely stay still for long. Support might mean help with washing and dressing, a prompt and a check with medication, a cooked meal and company while eating it, help getting safely about the house, or a hand with shopping and appointments. For some people it is one short visit a day. For others it is several calls, or a longer stretch so that a family carer can get some time to themselves. We try hard to send the same carers to the same households. Care is easier to accept from somebody you recognise, and a carer who knows a person well is the one who spots early that something has changed. Option One Care is a home care agency in Crawley, visiting older people and younger adults in their own homes across this part of West Sussex. Most of what we do looks unremarkable from outside. Helping somebody out of bed and into the day. A hand with washing and dressing, which protects a good deal more than appearances. Medication at the right time, in the right order, written down honestly. A meal actually cooked rather than something opened and left. Shopping, laundry, a kitchen left tidy. Help to move safely about the house. And a quarter of an hour sitting down with a cup of tea when that is what the visit really needs to be. None of it is dramatic, and all of it decides whether somebody can stay in the house they have lived in for years, which is what almost everyone we meet wants. We work hardest at reliability and continuity. Being where we said we would be, at roughly the time we said, with somebody the person recognises. People build their day around a visit, and a carer who does not turn up leaves far more than a job undone. For younger adults, we arrange support around work or study rather than a timetable that assumes an empty diary. The Care Quality Commission has not yet given us an overall rating. Ring us and we will talk through what you need without any pressure to take more than that.

The people we visit include older people, many of them living with dementia, as well as younger adults, people with a physical disability, people with sight or hearing loss and people managing mental health conditions. Everything begins with a proper conversation in your own home about your routine, your preferences and where help would make the biggest difference. Visits can cover personal care and medication, cooking, shopping and housework, getting out to appointments, or company for somebody who sees very few people in a week. Some people need one short call a day and others need several, or support overnight, and we are happy to start small and adjust as things change. Keeping the same carers visiting the same people is something we protect. Familiarity does more good than almost anything else we can offer, particularly for somebody living with dementia, and it means changes get noticed early by a carer who knows what normal looks like for that person. We are registered with the Care Quality Commission and we are glad to be asked about our training, our staffing and how we handle concerns. Families usually want two things from an agency. Somebody who arrives when they said they would, and somebody who tells them the truth when something has gone wrong. We aim to be both. Leah Care supports people in their own homes across Chichester and the surrounding parts of West Sussex. Staying put is what most people want when help becomes necessary, and our work is simply to make that practical for as long as it reasonably can be. We visit people living with dementia and people with physical disabilities, as well as anyone who needs a hand with the ordinary business of the day. Calls may cover personal care, dressing, meals, prompting or administering medication, and help with moving safely about the house. Where dementia is part of the picture we keep visits at consistent times with familiar faces, follow the routine someone already has rather than imposing a new one, and pay attention to the small signals that something has shifted. Where mobility is the main difficulty we look closely at the home itself, at what equipment helps and at how a day can be arranged so that fatigue does not swallow it. We would rather be honest about capacity than overcommit, so we will tell you plainly whether we can cover the times and the area you need. The Care Quality Commission has not yet issued us an overall rating. In the meantime we are glad to talk through how we recruit, train and supervise, and to arrange a conversation with families we already support so you can hear it from them instead of from us.

Jasmine Lodge provides support at home for people in Bognor Regis and the surrounding part of West Sussex. We work with adults who have a learning disability or autism, supporting them in their own homes and out in their own communities. Our purpose is to make ordinary life workable rather than to run anybody's life for them. That might mean help with personal care and daily routines, or it might mean doing a weekly shop and cooking properly instead of relying on ready meals, keeping on top of bills and appointments, getting to a job or a course, or carrying on with something somebody has always done. We are careful about the line between supporting a person and taking over, because that line is easily crossed by staff who are in a hurry to be helpful. We pay close attention to how people communicate, which is not always through words, and we take the time needed to get it right rather than assuming. Plans are written with the person, reviewed honestly and changed when they stop fitting. We also work alongside families and with social work and health colleagues, since joined up support is what tends to last. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We keep examining our own practice, particularly around choice and independence. If you would like to talk about support for yourself or someone in your family, we are happy to meet and explain how we work.

At Hurst Place, we provide home care to people living in Haywards Heath and the surrounding areas of West Sussex. We work with older adults, younger adults, and people living with dementia, supporting them to stay in the place they know best — their own home. We understand that inviting someone into your home to provide care is a significant decision, and we do not take that trust lightly. Our aim is straightforward: to offer care that genuinely fits around each person's life, routines, and preferences, rather than asking people to fit around us. That means taking the time to listen properly at the start, and continuing to check in as needs change over time. Dementia care is one of our core areas of work. We know how much familiarity and consistency matter for someone living with dementia, and we try to reflect that in the way we match carers and plan support. The same applies to the younger adults we support, who often have very specific goals around independence and daily life that we work hard to respect and encourage. We are proud to hold a Good rating from the Care Quality Commission, which reflects the consistency and attentiveness we bring to our work day to day. It is not something we treat as a box ticked — it is a prompt to keep looking at how we can do things better. If you are thinking about care for yourself or someone you love, we are always happy to have an honest conversation about what might be possible. There is no pressure and no jargon. We are based here in Haywards Heath, and being part of this community matters to us. We would be glad to hear from you.

Angelica Care is a home care agency in Bognor Regis, supporting people in their own homes across the area. Calls range from half an hour in the morning through to several visits a day, covering personal care, medication, meals, safe movement around the house, shopping and appointments. A great deal of the value in regular visits lies in what a familiar person notices. Post building up, a fridge emptier than it should be, a friend who has stopped being mentioned, somebody steady at the start of the week and unsteady by the end of it. Care workers who see the same people regularly pick that up, and we expect them to tell us rather than complete the notes and move on. Support is agreed with the person, written in plain language and revisited when circumstances change. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Metro Homecare supports people at home in Crawley and across West Sussex. We are a home care agency, so the care comes to you and fits round your life rather than the other way about. Older people make up a large part of our work, including many living with dementia, where staying in familiar rooms with a familiar routine is often the single most helpful thing that can be arranged. We also support people living with mental health conditions, including eating disorders, people with physical disabilities, people with a visual or hearing impairment, and younger adults who want support that keeps them independent rather than managed. What a visit looks like depends entirely on the person. It might be a short morning call to help someone wash, dress and get started, prompting and support with medication, help with meals and shopping, or longer periods of company for someone who finds the days quiet. We keep our teams small and consistent because trust takes time and repetition, and because a care worker who knows you well is the one who notices when something has changed. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission was good. We treat that as a baseline rather than an achievement, and we keep asking the people we visit and their families whether we are getting it right. If you are starting to think about care for yourself or for someone in your family, please get in touch. A conversation costs nothing and often makes the options much clearer.

- Home Care
Care To You Healthcare provides support in people's own homes across Worthing and the surrounding parts of West Sussex. We work with older people, adults living with dementia, people with learning disabilities and autistic adults, those living with mental ill health, adults with physical disabilities or sensory loss, younger adults, and people affected by alcohol or drug use. We take on a wide range of situations by choice. Families who are already stretched do not need to hear that a case is too complicated, and we would rather assess properly and give an honest yes or no than turn people away on the basis of a label. What decides quality in this work is not the wording of a care plan. It is whether we arrive when we said, send people who know the household, do what was agreed and speak up quickly when something has changed. We plan rotas we can actually keep to, and we say no to work we could not cover well. Where support calls for particular skill, whether that is dementia, autism or staying alongside somebody through setbacks, we train the whole team so everyone is working the same way rather than improvising individually. The Care Quality Commission rated us good at our most recent inspection. If you are arranging care around Worthing, please ring us and we will be realistic about what we can offer and when.

The Apuldram Centre supports adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults in and around Chichester, working with people in their own homes and in the places where they spend their time. Our work is about enabling rather than doing. The people we support have their own homes, their own routines and their own plans, and our part is to help make those workable rather than to take charge of them. In practice that might mean support with cooking, shopping and managing money, help getting to work, college or appointments, company on the bus into town, or someone reliable to think a problem through with when a week has been difficult. With autistic people in particular we pay close attention to routine, to giving proper warning before anything changes and to the sensory side of somebody's environment, because those details often decide whether a day works or falls apart. We take the time to learn how each person communicates and prefers to be approached, and then we stick to it. We keep the team around each person small and settled, because this kind of support depends on a relationship, and a relationship cannot be built by a different worker turning up every time. If you are looking into support for yourself or for someone in the Chichester area, please get in touch and we will be honest with you about whether we can help.

Cera Lanehurst Gardens provides care and support to people in their own homes in Crawley and across West Sussex. We work with older people and younger adults, with people living with dementia, with people managing mental health conditions and with people who have physical disabilities or a visual or hearing impairment. Staying at home is what most people want, and with the right support in place it is often entirely achievable. Our job is to work out what that support genuinely needs to be, which means starting with the day as it is now rather than with a menu of options. What has become difficult. What somebody most wants to hold onto. Where a little help would make the difference and where it would simply be interference. From there our carers help with personal care, medication, meals, household tasks and getting out of the house. We keep the group of carers visiting a household small, because letting somebody into your home is a matter of trust and because familiar staff notice early when something has changed. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We are happy to have an unhurried conversation before anything is agreed.

We provide care in people's own homes in Worthing, Arundel and the surrounding part of West Sussex. Our work is mainly with adults who have a learning disability and autistic adults, with people who have physical disabilities and with people living with sight or hearing loss. For many of the people we support, this is less about personal care and more about the scaffolding of an ordinary life. Help with cooking, shopping and running a household. Somebody alongside you at an appointment or in a place that would otherwise be too much. Support to keep a job or a course going. Somebody who turns up reliably and takes your plans seriously. Where somebody wants to take on more for themselves, our job is to step back at the right pace and stay near enough to help if it does not go as hoped. For autistic people especially, the practical details do most of the work. Who is coming and when. What will happen and in what order. How much notice there is before anything changes. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please get in touch if you would like to talk about support at home.

LQS Healthcare provides care and support to people in their own homes in Worthing and across West Sussex. We work with older people, younger adults, people living with dementia and people with physical disabilities. Almost everybody who contacts us wants the same thing. To carry on living in their own house, with their own belongings and their own way of doing a day, helped just enough to make it safe and manageable. Our job is to provide that help without taking the household over. We begin with a visit and an unhurried conversation about what has genuinely become difficult, which is often not what families assume. Sometimes it is washing and dressing, sometimes medication or meals, sometimes getting to appointments, and quite often it is simply that the days have grown very long. The plan follows from that and is revised as needs change. We keep the team around each person small and introduce new staff properly rather than sending somebody unannounced. For people living with dementia a familiar voice at the door and an unhurried manner matter more than anything else we could offer. Where somebody has a physical disability we look closely at equipment, transfers and how the home is arranged. We are clear about our limits and will say so rather than take on something we cannot deliver safely. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please call us if you would like to arrange a visit.

We provide care at home in Chichester and the surrounding parts of West Sussex. Those we support include older adults, people living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, people managing mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities, and people living with sight or hearing loss. We work out every arrangement separately. The alternative is a single approach applied to very different lives, which produces mediocre care across the board. A good deal of our work is practical: washing and dressing, medication, meals, shopping, laundry, keeping a household in order. The rest is harder to write into a plan. Noticing that somebody is not themselves. Sitting down for the last ten minutes rather than leaving early. Telling the office that something has changed. Where family carers are involved we support them too. A break that is reliable is worth far more than one that might not happen. We will say honestly when somebody needs more than home care can safely provide, even though that means losing the work. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We would rather hear about a problem this week than be congratulated in general terms.

Those we visit include older adults, people living with dementia, people managing mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities, people living with sight or hearing loss, and younger adults. We aim it at what has genuinely become difficult rather than taking over what somebody can still manage themselves. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We would rather put that here than have a family find it elsewhere and wonder why we said nothing about it. We accept what was identified and we are working through it. We are not going to claim in a paragraph that everything is resolved, because that would not be honest. What we would ask is that anybody considering us puts the question to us directly and presses for specifics: what was found, what has changed, and what is still in hand. We would also encourage people to speak to those we already visit, since their account of us is worth more than ours.

Priory Care West Sussex is a home care agency in Crawley, supporting people in their own homes across the county. We work with older people and younger adults, with people living with dementia, with people who have mental health needs, with people living with a physical disability and with people affected by an eating disorder. Taking on that range means we have to be careful rather than casual about matching. The support that helps an older person living with dementia is not the support that helps a young adult coming out of hospital after a mental health crisis, and pretending otherwise is how home care goes wrong. We assess properly and we match carers to people deliberately. The practical work covers personal care, medication managed and recorded carefully, meals cooked, help to move safely about the home, and support to keep appointments and routines going. With eating disorders we work alongside the specialist teams involved and we follow the clinical plan rather than improvising around food. Mealtimes can be the hardest part of somebody's day, and support at those moments needs to be patient, consistent and free of bargaining or judgement. For people living with dementia we send the same small group of carers to the same homes, because familiarity is what keeps a visit calm. The Care Quality Commission has not yet given us an overall rating. Call us and we will be honest about what we can take on and what we cannot.

Alina Homecare in Rustington provides care and support in people's own homes in Littlehampton and the surrounding parts of West Sussex. We take on a broad range of needs, and each arrangement begins with a proper conversation about what the person wants their day to look like. For older people we help with personal care, medication, meals, housework, shopping and getting out and about, and we notice and raise the changes that are easy to overlook. For people living with dementia we keep the same care workers visiting, follow the routine the household already has and avoid moving things about in a home that is known by heart. We support adults with a learning disability and autistic adults, where the emphasis is on independence and on communicating in the way that suits the person, and adults with mental health needs, where reliability and respect do most of the good. We help people with a physical disability to move safely and manage at home, and where there is sight or hearing loss we adapt how we communicate. We also support people living with eating disorders and people whose lives have been affected by alcohol or drug dependency, working alongside the health professionals involved and without moralising. Younger adults are supported around their own commitments. Please contact us if you would like to discuss support at home here.

We provide care at home in Horsham and the surrounding parts of West Sussex, supporting older adults, people living with dementia, and younger adults. Our help covers personal care, medication, meals, shopping and keeping a household running, alongside the company a regular caller brings. We aim it at what has genuinely become difficult and leave alone what the person would rather keep managing themselves, because doing everything for somebody is quicker today and costs them ability over the months. With dementia, continuity does most of the work. The same carer at the same time, doing things in the same order, in a home where nothing has been moved, makes a real difference to how somebody copes. Protecting that means building the rota around people rather than around convenience, which takes more effort and is the right way round. We also ask families for the history and the names, because a carer who understands what somebody means rather than only what they said is doing a better job. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We ask the people we visit how we are doing and act on the critical answers rather than the polite ones.

Moor and Coast Care is a home care agency in Crawley, supporting people in their own homes across West Sussex. We work with older people and younger adults, with people living with dementia, with people who have a learning disability, with autistic people, with people living with mental health needs and with people who have a physical disability. That is a wide remit and it only works if we resist applying a single approach. An older person who needs help getting up in the morning, an autistic adult who needs support to keep a tenancy going and somebody recovering from a mental health crisis are not variations on one theme. We assess each person properly, we ask what they want help with, and we build the support around the answer. The practical work includes personal care, medication managed and recorded carefully, meals cooked, help to move safely about the home, support to get out and about, and being reliable company in a week that may hold very little else. Continuity is what we guard most carefully. Sending familiar carers is how anybody notices that a person has become confused, stopped eating or is in pain and not saying so. For people living with dementia it is also what keeps a visit calm. The Care Quality Commission has not yet given us an overall rating. Ideal Complex Care is a home care agency in Crawley, supporting people in their own homes across West Sussex. We work with older people and younger adults, with people living with dementia, with people who have a learning disability, with autistic people, with people living with mental health needs and with people who have a physical disability. Complex care is a phrase that can make a person sound like a problem to be managed, so we use it carefully. What it means in practice is that the people we support often need a great deal of help, sometimes at every hour, and that the help has to be skilled, consistent and arranged around the individual rather than a standard template. It does not mean they have stopped being adults with their own plans. So the first conversation is about what a person wants their week to contain, and only then about what support makes it possible. Personal care given properly and without ceremony. Help to move safely, with the right equipment and a technique learned for that individual. Support to get out, see people, and manage a home. Communication takes a great deal of our effort, because some of the people we support do not use speech and almost every serious problem we are called in to resolve began with nobody slowing down enough to listen. The Care Quality Commission has not yet given us an overall rating. We are glad to explain in detail how we recruit, train and supervise.

Carewise provides care and support in people's own homes across Shoreham by Sea and the surrounding part of West Sussex. We work with older adults, younger adults, people living with dementia, people with physical disabilities, people with loss of sight or hearing, and people managing mental health conditions. Home care depends on three things going right. The visits have to arrive when they were promised. The person coming through the door has to be somebody the household knows. And the plan has to reflect what is needed now rather than what was agreed when we first met. We concentrate on those three, because nearly everything that goes wrong in this work comes from one of them slipping. The support ranges from short prompting calls to several longer visits a day covering personal care, medication, meals, company and getting out of the house. For people living with dementia we build on the routines that already exist at home. For people with sensory loss we adapt how we communicate and how we announce ourselves. Our most recent rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please get in touch to discuss support.

Arranging and funding home care in West Sussex
Support delivered at home differs from residential care in one way that shapes everything else: the carer travels to the person, so geography, timing and continuity of staff matter as much as the quality of the organisation behind them. With 212 agencies on this list, the practical starting point is finding which ones actually cover the postcode in question, because coverage areas rarely match county boundaries.
Making sense of the inspection ratings
The ratings on this page come from the Care Quality Commission and span Outstanding, Good and Requires Improvement, with some agencies not yet rated. A Good rating means inspectors found the agency met the standards tested across safety, effectiveness, care, responsiveness and leadership. Requires Improvement deserves a look at the report itself rather than an automatic exclusion, since the findings might concern record keeping, or might concern missed and late visits, which is a far more serious matter for someone waiting on morning medication. Agencies shown as not yet rated are frequently newer registrations without a first full inspection, so the weight shifts onto the questions you ask and the references you can gather.
What to establish before signing anything
Ask how many different carers will attend in a typical fortnight, because continuity is the single thing families most often wish they had pressed on. Ask what happens when a regular carer is ill, how late a visit can run before the office rings to warn you, and whether visits are logged electronically so relatives can see what was done. Check the minimum visit length, since a short call rarely allows for a proper meal or an unhurried wash. Confirm which tasks the agency will and will not undertake, particularly medication, catheter care and anything requiring two carers. Providers on this listing such as Caremark (Arun), Acre Care Limited, ADL Care and The Sussex Village Homecare Service Limited hold a Good rating, but the arrangement still stands or falls on the detail of the care plan you agree.
Choosing between home care agencies in West Sussex
The assessment process is the same whether the outcome is a few visits a week or full daily support, and it runs more smoothly when it begins before a crisis forces the pace.
Getting a care needs assessment
Anyone who appears to need care and support can request an assessment, whatever their savings. West Sussex County Council is responsible for carrying out that assessment and for arranging funded support where the national eligibility criteria are met. The assessment looks at washing, dressing, meals, medication, mobility and how safe someone is between visits, and the resulting written record is useful even for families who intend to pay privately, because it sets out clearly how much support is genuinely needed. A relative giving regular unpaid help can ask for a separate carer assessment at the same time.
Working out what it will cost
Home care is usually charged by the hour or by the visit, so the weekly total depends on how many calls are needed and how long each one lasts. Where council help is sought, a financial assessment follows the needs assessment and considers income, savings and other capital, with those above the national threshold generally expected to fund their own support. Ask any agency for its hourly rate in writing, along with what it charges at weekends and on bank holidays, whether travel time is billed, and how much notice is required to reduce or cancel visits.
Frequently asked questions about home care in West Sussex
Which providers are covered by this West Sussex listing?
This page brings together two hundred and five home care agencies registered with the Care Quality Commission to work in West Sussex. They deliver personal care in people's own homes, from a single morning call through to several visits a day and live in arrangements where an agency offers them. Providers on the list include Caremark (Arun), Gozone Care Ltd, Angelica Care Ltd and Ashton Domiciliary Care Agency. Each profile shows the current rating and links through to the published inspection report.
How does home care compare with a care home or a nursing home?
Home care brings a carer to the person for agreed visits, leaving them in their own house with their own routine, and it suits people whose needs can be met in scheduled blocks of time. A care home provides accommodation with personal care and staff on site day and night, which becomes the safer option when someone needs help unpredictably or is unsafe alone overnight. A nursing home adds registered nurses on the premises for clinical needs such as complex medication, wounds or conditions requiring regular clinical oversight. Every provider on this page delivers care at home rather than in a residential setting.
What should I ask an agency before arranging visits?
Ask how many different carers are likely to attend over a fortnight and what the agency does when the usual carer is unavailable. Ask about the minimum visit length, how time is recorded, and whether family can see a log of what happened at each call. Request the hourly rate in writing together with weekend and bank holiday charges, any travel costs, and the notice needed to change or cancel visits. Finally, ask who reviews the care plan, how often that happens, and who to contact out of hours when something goes wrong.
How is a care needs assessment arranged in West Sussex?
Contact the adult social care team at West Sussex County Council and ask for a care needs assessment. Everyone who appears to need care and support is entitled to one regardless of income, and a relative can make the request with the person's agreement. The assessment covers daily tasks, mobility, medication and safety at home, and produces a written record of the support required. If the person is in hospital, the ward team can refer directly, which usually brings the assessment forward.
Can West Sussex County Council pay towards care at home?
It can, where the person meets the care eligibility criteria and the financial test that follows. West Sussex County Council assesses income, savings and other capital to decide how much the person contributes towards the cost of support. Those holding capital above the national threshold normally pay for their own care, though they can still request an assessment and ask for advice about arranging it. Where the council does contribute, it sets a personal budget, which some people take as a direct payment and use to arrange their own agency.
How soon should support at home be organised?
It pays to start before the situation becomes urgent, because good agencies in West Sussex often have limited capacity at the most popular times of day. Early mornings and teatime calls are the hardest slots to fill, so a family asking at short notice may be offered times that do not suit. Beginning early also leaves room to trial a small package and adjust it once everyone sees how it works in practice. Where a hospital discharge is expected, tell the ward as soon as possible so the assessment can run alongside the discharge planning.
