Warwick Park Care Home in Tunbridge Wells provides nursing and personal care for older people whose health needs mean a registered nurse should be on hand at any hour. Many of the people we care for come to us after a hospital stay or a long period of declining health at home, often with more than one condition to manage. The early weeks are usually about comfort, eating properly and sleeping again, and only afterwards about anything more ambitious. Our nursing team manages wound care, support with medication, continence care and the monitoring of long term conditions, and we work closely with GPs and community specialists so that problems are dealt with early. We also believe a nursing home should not feel like a ward. People have their own rooms with their own belongings, meals are cooked here with a proper choice, visitors come and go, and staff are expected to have time to sit and talk. Where somebody is nearing the end of life, our focus is comfort, dignity and giving families the time and honest information they need. Respite and short stays can be arranged. If you are looking at nursing homes in Kent, please telephone us and arrange to visit.

Martha House is a nursing home in Deal, Kent. We support adults who need nursing care, including adults who are autistic or have a learning disability and people living with a physical disability, and we welcome people for respite stays as well as for longer term care. Nursing care and a good life are not alternatives. Having nurses on site simply means that health needs are met safely and calmly, so that people can get on with the parts of the day that actually interest them. We talk with each person, and with the people who know them best, about how they like things done, what upsets them, what settles them and how they tell us when something is wrong. That understanding is written down and used, not filed away. We pay close attention to communication, because a person who cannot easily say what hurts depends on us to notice. Our staff know the signs to watch for, and we work with local health professionals when something changes. Families and friends are an important part of life here. Visit when it suits you, be involved as much as you want to be, and tell us honestly if we are getting something wrong. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you are looking for nursing care in Deal or elsewhere in Kent, please come and see us and ask whatever you need to ask.

Farnham Mill Nursing Home is in Farnham, Surrey. We look after older people whose health needs go beyond what family or residential care can manage at home, and a large part of our work is with people living with dementia. Having registered nurses on duty at any hour is the practical reason most people come to us. It means we can manage complex medication, skin and pressure care, continence and nutrition, and keep close enough watch on somebody's health that changes are picked up early instead of turning into emergencies. When a person is nearing the end of their life, it means we can keep them comfortable here, among people who know them. Dementia care asks for something different from clinical skill. It asks for a day that runs in a familiar order, for surroundings that are easy to read, and for staff who will go where the person is rather than correcting them. We take time to learn about somebody's earlier life, their work and their family, because that is what makes sense of how they are now. Respite and short stays are available, whether for a planned break for a family carer or for somebody recovering after illness. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. You are welcome to come and look round Farnham Mill.

We are a nursing home in Camberley, Surrey, caring for older people who need nursing support, including people living with dementia and people with physical disabilities. We also welcome people for respite stays where a period of nursing care is what is needed rather than a permanent move. Having qualified nurses here at every hour means that health needs which are complicated or changeable can be looked after without somebody having to move again, or spend their time travelling back and forth to hospital. That is what brings most families to us in the first place. What keeps them content is simpler. Whether the staff are kind, whether anybody has time to sit down for a few minutes, whether their relative seems settled when they come in. Dementia asks something particular of a nursing home. A day that keeps its shape, faces that are familiar, and staff who can tell the difference between somebody being awkward and somebody being frightened, uncomfortable or in pain. Much of what looks like difficult behaviour is a person trying to communicate, and a team who know somebody well stand a far better chance of working out what. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Families are welcome and we would much rather you came and saw the place for yourself. Please contact us and we will arrange a time for you to visit.

Hastings Court is a nursing home in Hastings, caring for older people who need qualified nursing support alongside help with the ordinary business of the day. Our nurses are here at all hours, which allows us to care for people with long term health conditions, those who have become frailer after illness, and those who need careful, dignified care at the end of their lives. We also support people living with dementia and those whose physical disabilities affect how they move, wash, eat or communicate. Good care in both cases comes down to patience and to knowing the person. We ask families to tell us about the life lived before we met someone, because that is what tells us how to settle them on a difficult afternoon. Life here follows the people in it. Breakfast is not a fixed event, the kitchen will make a sandwich at ten at night if that is what someone wants, and the day is filled with whatever people actually like doing. Many of our residents have lived in this part of East Sussex for decades, and we make the most of that shared local history in conversation and in the trips we arrange. If you are looking at nursing homes, you are probably tired and short of time. Ring us, tell us what has happened, and we will tell you plainly whether we can help. You are welcome to visit at any time of day, unannounced if you prefer, and to speak with the nurses who would be caring for your relative.

Berkshire Manor Care Home offers nursing care in Bracknell for adults whose health needs require trained nurses on hand at every hour of the day. That covers a wide range of people: someone recovering strength after a fall or an operation, someone whose breathing or diabetes needs watching closely, and someone who is nearing the end of life and wants to be comfortable and surrounded by familiar faces. We care for older people, adults living with dementia and people with physical disabilities, including younger adults for whom a nursing home is the right place rather than an obvious one. For younger residents in particular we think carefully about independence, privacy, and keeping hold of interests and friendships from before the move. The practical details of daily life are decided by the people living here. We ask how you like your tea, when you prefer to bathe, whether you would rather eat in company or in your own room, and we record the answers so that whoever is on shift knows them. Meals are adapted for particular diets, for swallowing difficulties and for plain personal preference. Being in Bracknell makes family visits easier to fit around work, and relatives can come at any reasonable hour without arranging it in advance. If you would like to look round, call us and come whenever suits. We will be honest about what we do well and about where another home might serve your relative better.

The Old Rectory is a nursing home in Cranleigh, Surrey. We provide nursing care for older people and we also offer respite stays, whether that is to give a family carer a break or to support somebody through a period of recovery. Having qualified nurses on site means people can remain with us as their health needs change rather than facing another move, which matters a great deal to families who have already been through one difficult transition. The clinical side is only part of it though. Most of what makes a day good or bad here has little to do with nursing. It is whether somebody was helped at their own pace, whether the food was something they genuinely wanted, whether their room feels like theirs and whether they were asked rather than told. We would rather be judged on those ordinary things. Knowing how everybody likes their breakfast, which chair is theirs, who wants company in the morning and who would far rather be left with a newspaper. We ask about these preferences, record them and expect them to be followed. Families are welcome whenever it suits them and we keep in touch honestly rather than waiting for problems. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We take it as confirmation that the everyday things are sound and we keep examining the detail. We at The Moreton Centre are proud to offer dedicated nursing care in the welcoming coastal town of St Leonards On Sea, East Sussex. As a nursing home supporting older people, younger adults, and those living with dementia or mental health needs, we provide skilled, compassionate support around the clock. Set within the TN postcode area of St Leonards On Sea, our home benefits from the gentle pace and refreshing sea air that this part of the South East coast is known for. Residents enjoy a setting that feels both restful and connected to the wider community, with the familiar comforts of a residential town close by. Our environment has been thoughtfully arranged to feel warm and homely, offering communal spaces for socialising as well as quieter areas where residents can relax, reflect, or spend time with visiting loved ones. The care we provide is shaped around the individual. For older people who require nursing support, our qualified team is on hand day and night to manage complex health needs, administer medication safely, and respond promptly to any changes in wellbeing. For those living with dementia, we focus on creating a calm, predictable routine, using familiar cues and gentle encouragement to help residents feel settled, understood, and respected. Families often tell us that knowing their relative is in a place where staff truly recognise the person behind the diagnosis brings enormous peace of mind. Our experience supporting adults with mental health needs means we understand the importance of patience, consistency, and genuine human connection. We also welcome younger adults whose circumstances mean they require nursing or specialist support, and we tailor our approach to reflect the very different life stages and aspirations of every individual in our care. Whether someone wishes to continue a long held hobby, share a quiet cup of tea with a member of staff, or simply enjoy the rhythm of a familiar daily routine, we aim to make those moments possible. Following our most recent CQC inspection in April 2025, The Moreton Centre received an overall rating of Requires Improvement. We were pleased to be rated Good in the Effective, Caring, and Responsive domains, which reflects the warmth of our team, the quality of the care delivered, and our commitment to meeting each resident's needs as an individual. We recognise that improvements are needed in the Safe and Well-led areas, and we are wholeheartedly committed to addressing these. We view inspection feedback as an opportunity to grow, and our team is actively working to strengthen the way we operate so that every aspect of life at the home reflects the standard our residents and their families deserve. Choosing a nursing home is one of the most important decisions a family can make, and we understand the care, thought, and emotion involved in that choice. If you are exploring options for a loved one in St Leonards On Sea or the wider East Sussex area, we warmly invite you to get in touch, ask questions, and arrange a visit. We will be glad to show you around, listen to your concerns, and talk openly about how we can support your family at this important time.

Beechwood Grove is a nursing home in Eastbourne providing care for adults who need qualified nursing support through the whole of the day and night. We look after people with health conditions that need regular clinical attention, people who have lost strength and confidence after illness, and people who want comfort, dignity and familiar company in their final weeks and months. The people who live here include older adults, those with dementia and people with physical disabilities, among them younger adults. We write each care plan with the person and their family, and we keep it current. Needs in a nursing home rarely stay still, and a plan that is six months out of date is of no use to anybody. We believe the texture of ordinary days is what makes a home good. Choices are offered at mealtimes and tastes are remembered. People get up and go to bed when it suits them. The day holds music, exercise, crafts, trips out and plenty of unstructured time, and nobody is required to take part in anything. Being in Eastbourne means the seafront is within easy reach, and an outing there is often the highlight of someone's week. Families are welcome at any hour and can share meals with their relatives or take them out for the afternoon. If you are considering a move, call in and see us. We will answer your questions honestly, including the ones about money.

Amherst House is a nursing home in Horley, Surrey. Being registered for nursing care means we can look after people whose health needs are more complex than a residential home can safely meet, with qualified nurses working alongside our care team throughout. We care for older adults with ongoing conditions, managing medication, nutrition, skin care, pain and comfort while helping with washing, dressing and moving about in a way that leaves people as independent as they can be. Dementia care is a significant part of our work and rests on familiar staff, a settled routine and taking the time to learn what reassures each individual. We support residents with physical disabilities and those with a visual or hearing impairment, adapting how we communicate and how we assist so that dignity is never traded for convenience, and we care for younger adults whose conditions require nursing support, planning their days around their own interests. Respite stays are available for families needing a planned break or extra support after a hospital discharge. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Families are welcome at any reasonable hour, and we would always rather hear about a worry while it is still a small one.

Pentlands Nursing Home is in Worthing. We care for older people and younger adults with nursing needs and we offer respite and short stays. Qualified nurses are on duty at all hours. That means complex health needs, medication, wound and continence care and care at the end of life are looked after here rather than through repeated journeys to hospital, and it means somebody notices early when a resident is becoming unwell rather than once it is obvious. We do one thing and we try to do it well. There is no specialist wing here and no attempt to be all things to everybody. What we offer is careful nursing care in a place where people are known, and days that are theirs rather than the rota's. That means food worth eating, time for a proper conversation, a garden to sit in, familiar music, and staff who are not too busy to sit down with somebody. It also means asking at the outset how a person has always liked their day to run and then working that way, rather than fitting them to a routine that suits us. Where a resident is nearing the end of life we plan openly with them and their family, keep them comfortable and make room for relatives to stay as long as they want. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Visitors are welcome through the day and need not arrange it in advance.

Iden Manor Nursing Home is near Tonbridge in Kent. We care for older people who need nursing support, including those living with dementia and those living with mental ill health, and we also support adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, people with a physical disability, people with visual or hearing impairment and younger adults. Respite stays are available too. Registered nurses are on site around the clock, which means clinical needs are met here rather than through repeated trips to hospital. Wound care, catheters, diabetes, pain relief and the gradual changes that come with frailty are handled by people who know the person. Combining nursing care with support for people who have a learning disability or who are autistic takes particular attention. Health needs in this group are too often missed or put down to something else, and we try hard not to let that happen. We learn how each person communicates, including those who use little or no speech, and we pay attention to noise, lighting and predictability. Most of good nursing care is small things done reliably. Pressure care that does not slip. Mouth care that is not skipped. Someone sitting with a person who is frightened in the night. Respite stays suit people needing nursing input briefly and family carers needing a real break. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Hendford Nursing Home is in Epsom. We care for older people who need nursing support, including those living with dementia and those living with mental ill health. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places. Registered nurses are here throughout the day and night, which means clinical needs can be met without a person being moved on every time their health changes. Wound care, catheters, diabetes, pain relief and the gradual increase in need that comes with frailty are all handled here, by people who know the person. We think the clinical side is only half the job. The other half is a day worth getting up for. Residents choose their routines, their rooms are their own, and nobody is expected to join in with anything out of politeness. Where dementia or mental ill health is part of the picture, we keep the environment calm and consistent and take time to understand how somebody communicates when words become difficult. Distress almost always has a reason, and finding it beats managing the symptom. Respite stays suit people who need nursing input for a short period and family carers who need a proper break. Downsvale Nursing Home is in Dorking, and we provide nursing care for older people, for younger adults whose conditions require qualified nursing, and for those needing respite while a family carer has a break or recovers from illness themselves. Registered nurses are on duty here at every hour. That means medication is managed properly, wound care, catheter care and long standing conditions are handled on site, and a change in someone's health is noticed early by staff who know them rather than during a rushed appointment somewhere else. We work closely with GPs, district nurses, therapists and hospital teams, and we follow things up on a resident's behalf when progress is slow. Dementia care is central to what we do. We keep the day calm and familiar, we give people time instead of hurrying them, and we learn about the person behind the diagnosis, because knowing someone's working life, their family, their music and their habits is what lets us understand distress that cannot be put into words. Food is cooked here, people eat what they like, and nobody is moved along to fit a schedule. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Families are welcome at any reasonable time and we would much rather have relatives involved in decisions than kept politely informed. For a lot of the people who move in, the immediate gain is an end to the cycle of hospital admissions. Good nursing is the foundation and not the purpose. The purpose is that somebody carries on being themselves while their health is looked after. So we ask before we act, we keep personal care private, we make visitors genuinely welcome rather than merely permitted, and we try to make sure the day holds something a person would have chosen. For residents with a physical disability, the right equipment and staff who know each individual's preferred way of transferring mean that getting out of a room is never a question of staff convenience. With dementia we rely on familiar faces and an unhurried pace, and relatives usually know the detail that settles a difficult hour. The Care Quality Commission has not yet given us an overall rating. Come and see the home, speak to the nurses on duty and ask how the difficult nights are handled.

We at Kingswood House Nursing Home offer dedicated nursing care in the coastal town of St Leonards On Sea, providing a warm and supportive environment for adults with complex health and mental health needs. Nestled within the TN postcode area of East Sussex, our home benefits from the gentle pace and fresh sea air that this part of the South East is so well loved for. Our setting has been thoughtfully arranged to feel like a true home rather than a clinical space. Residents can enjoy the calming atmosphere of the local area, whilst benefiting from the comforts and community spirit that Kingswood House works hard to nurture within its walls. Being based in St Leonards On Sea means loved ones can combine visits with time spent by the coast, making trips to see family both meaningful and restorative. The care we provide is tailored to the individual. As a nursing home, we support residents who require round the clock clinical attention, delivered with dignity and compassion. Our specialism in mental health means we understand the importance of emotional wellbeing alongside physical health, and our team works patiently to build trust and routine with each person in our care. We also welcome younger adults, recognising that care needs are not defined by age alone, and we take great care to ensure that every resident feels seen, heard and valued regardless of their stage in life. For families who need a little breathing space, our respite care offering provides short term support that can make all the difference. Whether it is a planned break for a family carer, a period of recovery following a hospital stay, or a trial stay to help someone consider longer term care, we approach every respite placement with the same warmth and attention to detail as our permanent residents receive. In practical terms, choosing Kingswood House means your loved one will be looked after by a team that understands the interplay between mental and physical health, and that recognises the courage it takes to move into a new environment. We work closely with families, keeping communication open and honest, so that decisions about care are made together and with confidence. Our most recent CQC inspection rated us as Requires Improvement overall, with Good ratings across the Effective, Caring and Responsive domains, and areas identified for further development within Safe and Well led. We believe transparency matters, and we want families to have a full picture when considering us. The Good ratings reflect the genuine warmth, responsiveness and clinical effectiveness our team brings to daily life at the home, and we remain committed to strengthening every aspect of what we do so that residents continue to receive the highest possible standard of care. If you are exploring nursing care options in St Leonards On Sea for a family member, whether for the long term, for respite, or simply to understand what might be possible, we would be delighted to hear from you. Please get in touch to arrange a conversation or a visit, and let us help you take the next step with reassurance and clarity.

Kings Lodge Nursing Home provides nursing care in Chichester for older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia, people living with a mental health condition and people with physical disabilities. Registered nurses are on duty at all hours. Nursing care can easily become a list of tasks, and we work at stopping that. The clinical side is done thoroughly, with skin, pain, medication, nutrition and continence checked properly rather than assumed. But the reason somebody is here is to live, not to be managed, so we pay equal attention to whether people are getting outside, seeing who they want to see, eating things they enjoy and having something in the week worth being up for. For people living with dementia, and for anyone whose mental health fluctuates, we plan around familiarity and adjust to how somebody actually is rather than to how a plan says they should be. Respite stays are available. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is Requires Improvement. We are not going to leave you to find that out elsewhere. We accept what was found, we are working through an improvement plan, and if you ask us where we have got to we will tell you plainly, including the parts that remain outstanding. If you are considering nursing care in West Sussex, please come and look round. Ask about staffing levels, ask what has changed since the inspection, and ask to speak to relatives of people already living here.

Barons Down is a nursing home in Lewes, East Sussex, caring for adults whose health needs require nursing support alongside help with everyday life. Having qualified nurses on the team means we can look after people whose needs would be beyond a residential home. We support older adults with ongoing conditions, managing medication, nutrition, skin care, pain and comfort while helping with washing, dressing and mobility. Dementia care is a significant part of our work and rests on familiar staff, a settled routine and taking the time to learn what reassures each individual. We care for residents living with mental health conditions, where a calm environment and early attention to changes matter greatly, and residents with physical disabilities or a visual or hearing impairment, adapting how we communicate and how we assist. We support people living with eating disorders and people affected by alcohol or drug misuse without judgement, and we care for younger adults too. Respite stays are available for families needing a break. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We would sooner tell you that ourselves than let you find it later. The areas identified are where our effort is concentrated, and we are glad to discuss them with anyone considering us.

Worplesdon View is a nursing home in Guildford. We care for older people who need nursing support, including those living with dementia, and we also support some younger adults. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places. Registered nurses are here day and night, so clinical needs are met in the home rather than through repeated hospital trips. Wound care, catheters, diabetes, pain relief and the gradual changes that come with frailty are handled by people who know the person. For families, it means ringing up and speaking to somebody who can actually say how their relative has been. Most of good nursing care is unglamorous and depends on reliability. Pressure care attended to on time. Mouth care not skipped. Someone sitting with a person who is frightened at three in the morning. Those are the things worth judging us on. Alongside the clinical side sits the ordinary business of a decent day, which matters just as much. Residents choose their routines and their rooms are their own, and nobody is expected to join in with anything out of politeness. With dementia we rely on familiar faces, a steady rhythm and knowing something of a person's earlier life, and we treat distress as something to be understood rather than quietened. Respite stays suit people needing nursing input for a short period and family carers who need a proper break. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please come and visit Worplesdon View.

Hallmark Angmering Grange is a nursing home in Littlehampton, West Sussex. As a nursing home we are able to support people whose health needs go beyond the reach of a residential setting, with qualified nurses on duty alongside our care team so that clinical and everyday needs are held by one group of people who know the resident well. We care for older adults with ongoing conditions, supporting medication, nutrition, mobility, comfort and the practical help of washing and dressing, and we work closely with GPs and community teams. Dementia care is central to our work and rests on knowing each person properly: what reassures them, what unsettles them and how they like to be approached. We also support residents with physical disabilities and with a visual or hearing impairment, adjusting how we communicate and how we help people move about so that dignity is protected. We care for younger adults with nursing needs as well, and plan their days around their own interests. Respite stays are available for families needing a planned break.

Rothsay Grange is a nursing home in Andover, Hampshire. We provide nursing care for older people, including those living with dementia and people with a physical disability, and we also support some younger adults with nursing needs. Respite stays are available. Dementia support is a significant part of our work. Familiar staff, steady routines and patience do more good than anything else, along with a real effort to understand what somebody means when words have become unreliable. We treat distress as communication rather than as behaviour to be managed, and we ask families in detail about history and habits because that information often makes the present make sense. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We take it as confirmation that the everyday things are sound and we keep examining the detail. If you are considering a nursing home in this part of Hampshire for a relative, please come and see us and ask us whatever you need to know.

Here at Petworth Cottage Nursing Home, we provide nursing care for older people in a calm and homely setting in the heart of Petworth, West Sussex. We know that choosing a nursing home is one of the most significant decisions a family can make, and we take that responsibility seriously. Our team supports residents with a range of nursing needs, and we also offer respite care for those who need a shorter stay, whether to recover after a period in hospital or to give family carers a well earned break. Whatever brings someone to us, we aim to make sure they feel genuinely at home from the moment they arrive. We were pleased to receive a rating of Good from the Care Quality Commission at our most recent inspection. That result reflects the everyday work of our staff, who know our residents as individuals and build real relationships with them over time. Good care, in our view, is not about grand gestures. It is about consistency, attentiveness and treating people with the dignity they deserve. Petworth itself is a wonderful place to be based. The town has a strong sense of community, and that spirit carries through into how we operate. Families are always welcome, and we encourage people to remain connected to the things and the people that matter most to them. If you are considering nursing care for yourself or a loved one, we would be very happy to have a conversation or to arrange a visit. Seeing a place in person is often the best way to get a feel for whether it is the right fit, and we are always glad to show people around and answer any questions they might have.

Here at The Goldbridge in Haywards Heath, West Sussex, we provide nursing home care for people who need a thoughtful, skilled and genuinely attentive approach to their daily lives. We work with older adults, younger adults, and people living with dementia, and we also offer respite care for those who need a shorter stay, whether that is planned or at short notice. Nursing care sits at the heart of what we do. Our team includes registered nurses alongside care staff who know our residents well, not just their care needs but their preferences, their routines and the things that matter to them personally. That kind of relationship takes time to build, and we take it seriously. For those living with dementia, we understand how much the environment and the consistency of familiar faces can affect a person's sense of safety and wellbeing. We put real thought into how we support residents and their families through what can be a very uncertain time. We are proud that our most recent Care Quality Commission inspection rated us as Good. That matters to us, not as a badge, but as a reflection of the work our team puts in every day. We always aim to build on that and continue listening to residents and families about what we can do better. If you are considering The Goldbridge for yourself or someone close to you, we would always encourage you to come and visit us. A conversation in person gives a much clearer picture than any description can. We are happy to talk through the options, answer questions honestly and help you work out whether we are the right fit for your situation. We are based in Haywards Heath and are proud to be part of this local community.

Ashurst Park Care Home is a nursing home in Tunbridge Wells, Kent. Qualified nurses are on duty here throughout the day and night, and that is what allows us to take people whose needs a residential home could not safely meet. Most of the people living with us are older adults and a large proportion are living with dementia. Some have managed a mental health condition for many years, and a good number have a physical disability requiring daily help with moving and positioning. We also support younger adults whose health needs call for nursing, and we take care they are not quietly absorbed into a routine designed for people decades older. Respite admissions are available. The nursing itself is detailed and unhurried. Medicines, wounds, pain, pressure care, and making sure people eat and drink enough. The part no procedure covers is noticing early when somebody is not themselves, and that rests on the same staff knowing the same residents over months. Around all that we try to protect an ordinary life. Choice about rising and dressing, food worth eating, the garden, and visitors at whatever hour someone can get here. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Come and see the home on a normal day and ask us anything.

Here at QEF Care and Rehabilitation Centre in Leatherhead, Surrey, we provide nursing home care for people with a wide range of needs and backgrounds. Our team supports older adults, younger adults, and individuals living with physical disabilities or visual and hearing impairments, offering each person the kind of attentive, respectful care that helps them feel genuinely at home. We are proud to hold a "Good" rating from the Care Quality Commission, which reflects the consistent effort our staff put into maintaining high standards day to day. That recognition matters to us, but what matters more is the feedback we hear directly from the people we support and their families, knowing that someone feels safe, comfortable and valued in our care is what drives everything we do. Nursing care sits at the heart of what we offer here. Our clinical team works closely alongside care staff to make sure that medical and personal needs are met promptly and with real thought given to each individual. We understand that coming into a care setting can feel like a significant step, and we work hard to make that transition as smooth and reassuring as possible. We also place great importance on rehabilitation. For many of the people we support, the goal is not simply to be looked after but to maintain or rebuild independence wherever that is possible. We take that seriously and approach it in a way that is realistic, encouraging and tailored to each person. Our setting draws on the wider ethos of QEF, an organisation with a longstanding commitment to supporting disabled people and those with complex needs. That background shapes how we think about care, with an emphasis on dignity, individuality and enabling people to live as fully as possible. Shottendane is a nursing home in Margate, Kent. We care for older people whose needs include nursing, including many living with dementia, and we offer respite stays. Having nurses here means a change in somebody's health is something we handle rather than a reason to send them elsewhere. That continuity matters most to the people it is hardest on, and being moved is hard on anybody. The work we have to do deliberately is keeping the place domestic. A home with clinical staff in it can slide into feeling like a ward, and the moment that happens people stop being consulted about their own day. So we protect mealtimes, fresh air, privacy and unhurried help as though they were treatment, because in a sense they are. For residents living with dementia we hold the routine still and learn the life behind the person. Knowing where somebody worked, who they married and what they are still proud of changes what we can offer when they are unsettled. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. What would tell you more than the rating is coming at a mealtime and watching whether anybody is sitting waiting for help to eat.

For families, this brings the reassurance that their loved one is in capable hands day and night. Our dementia care is delivered with patience, dignity and a deep understanding of how important familiar routines and gentle reassurance can be. For those with physical disabilities, we focus on promoting independence wherever possible, tailoring support to each individual so they can continue to enjoy the activities and interests that matter most to them. We also welcome residents for respite care, offering a valuable break for family carers or a supported period of recovery following illness or a hospital stay. Whether the stay is for a short while or on a longer term basis, every resident is treated as an individual, with a personalised care plan shaped around their preferences, history and wishes. Our commitment to quality is reflected in our Care Quality Commission rating of Good across every domain assessed, including Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well led. Achieving Good in each of these areas demonstrates that our residents are looked after in a safe environment, receive effective care that supports their wellbeing, are treated with genuine kindness, benefit from care that responds to their changing needs and are supported by a home that is thoughtfully managed. Choosing a nursing home is one of the most important decisions a family can make, and we understand the emotions that come with it. We at Wells House Nursing Home warmly invite families in Folkestone and across Kent to get in touch, arrange a visit and discover for themselves the compassionate care and comfortable community we have built. We are a nursing home in Farnham, Surrey, caring for older people and younger adults who need nursing support, including many who are living with dementia. Registered nurses are on duty day and night, so medication, pain relief and any change in somebody's condition are handled here and handled promptly. Dementia care and nursing care sit side by side in a home like ours, and they ask for different things. The clinical side has to be exact. The rest has to be patient. We keep routines familiar, faces consistent and the atmosphere calm, and when somebody is distressed we sit with them rather than trying to talk them round. We take time to learn who a person is. Their work, their family, their habits, what they enjoy and what they will not tolerate. That knowledge is what turns competent care into care that actually suits the person receiving it. Families are welcome, and we would rather they visited often and asked us plenty of questions. Respite and short stays are offered alongside permanent nursing places. Our most recent Care Quality Commission inspection rated the home Good. If you are looking at nursing care in this part of Surrey, please contact us to arrange a visit.

Red Oaks is a nursing home at Henfield in West Sussex. We care for older people whose needs include nursing, including many living with dementia and people with physical disabilities. Respite stays are part of what we do. Nursing on site means health needs are met by people who already know the person, which usually means problems are noticed sooner, and it means nobody has to move on because their condition has progressed. The part that takes deliberate effort is keeping the atmosphere domestic. Once a nursing home starts running to ward habits, residents stop being asked about their own day and visitors begin behaving like hospital visitors, so mealtimes, fresh air, prompt help and privacy are guarded on purpose. For residents with physical disabilities we plan around what a person can still do themselves rather than what is quickest for us. Independence surrendered for convenience is rarely returned. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is outstanding. We are pleased with it and wary of what it can imply, since a rating covers a period rather than a promise. What keeps it true is the ordinary daily attention that earned it.

Priory Mews Care Home is a nursing home in Dartford, Kent, caring for older people who need the support of qualified nurses alongside help with daily living. We care for residents living with dementia and offer respite stays for people who need nursing care for a shorter period. Having nurses on site means we can support people whose health needs are complex or changing, including management of long term conditions, wound and continence care, and end of life care, without someone having to move on when their needs increase. Alongside that, we work hard to keep daily life ordinary. Residents choose when to get up, where to spend their time and what they want to eat. Meals are cooked here and preferences are remembered. Our dementia care rests on knowing people properly, learning about a person's life and habits so that reassurance is familiar rather than generic. We should be straightforward about our most recent inspection. The Care Quality Commission rated us requires improvement overall. We accept that judgement, we have taken the findings seriously, and we have an improvement plan in place that we are working through. We would far rather tell you this ourselves and show you what we are doing about it than have you find it elsewhere. Families are welcome here and we keep them properly informed. If you are considering the home, please come and visit, ask hard questions and see how we are getting on.

Ashtonleigh is a care home in Horsham offering both residential and nursing care, which means somebody can stay with us as their needs change rather than having to move on at an already difficult moment. We care for older people, including people living with dementia, and we also support adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, people managing mental health conditions, people living with a physical disability and people with sight or hearing loss, including younger adults. That range works because our method stays the same. We learn how a person communicates, what their day ought to contain and what makes a difficult day, and we build support around that rather than around a fixed routine. Having qualified nurses on site means changes in health are picked up early and managed calmly, and it often spares somebody an avoidable hospital admission. Respite stays are available too, for people recovering after illness and for family carers who need a break. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We take that as a foundation. The more honest measure is whether people here look comfortable and whether relatives feel welcome at any reasonable hour. You would be very welcome to visit.

Lancing Beach is a nursing home in Lancing, West Sussex. We care for older people and younger adults whose needs include nursing, including many living with dementia, people with physical disabilities and people living with sight or hearing loss. Respite stays are part of what we do. Nursing on site means a change in somebody's health is something we manage rather than a reason to send them elsewhere. That continuity is what most families are really asking about when they first ring. Keeping the place feeling domestic rather than clinical takes deliberate work. People here are residents and not patients, and the day should look like it: food worth finishing, getting outside when the weather allows, prompt help, and privacy that is actually respected. For residents with physical disabilities we plan around what somebody can still do themselves rather than what is quickest for us, because independence surrendered for convenience is rarely returned. We have not yet been given an overall rating by the Care Quality Commission, and we would rather state that plainly than write around the gap. Anybody considering us should visit unannounced, speak to residents and relatives, and ask us whatever they want.

Little Court Care Home is a nursing home in Tunbridge Wells. We care for older people with nursing needs and we offer respite and short stays. Qualified nurses are on duty at all hours. That means complex health needs, medication, wound and continence care and care at the end of life are looked after here rather than through repeated journeys elsewhere, and it means somebody notices early when a resident is becoming unwell rather than once it is obvious. We do one thing and we try to do it well. There is no specialist wing here and no attempt to be all things to everybody. What we offer is careful nursing care for older people in a place where they are known, and days that are theirs rather than the rota's.

Maplewood Court is a nursing home in Maidstone. We care for adults who need skilled nursing alongside help with washing, dressing, eating and moving about, and we have registered nurses on shift through the night as well as the day. That means a change in someone's condition is picked up and acted on promptly, and families are not left wondering whether anyone qualified is there. We support older people, people living with dementia and adults with physical disabilities, including younger adults. Every person who comes to live here has a plan written with them, covering not just medical needs but how they want their day to go, what they can still do for themselves and what they would like help with. Independence is worth protecting even in small things, and we are careful not to take over tasks simply because doing them for someone would be quicker. Meals are freshly prepared and we accommodate particular diets, textures and tastes. Beyond mealtimes, people spend their days as they choose, in company or alone, indoors or in the garden when the weather allows. We arrange activities and local outings, but nothing is compulsory. Visitors are welcome throughout the day, and we encourage relatives to stay for a meal or take their family member out for an afternoon. If you are thinking about nursing care in Kent, call us or simply come and look round. We are glad to answer difficult questions about cost and about what happens as needs increase.

We are Wain House, a nursing home in Westgate on Sea, Kent. We care for older people who need qualified nursing alongside support with daily living, including people living with dementia, and we also look after younger adults with nursing needs. Respite stays are available. Nurses on duty at every hour are what allow us to look after health needs as they change. Medication, wound care, continence, pain and the increasing frailty that often comes with great age can all be managed here, so nobody has to move again simply because their needs have grown. Alongside the nursing we work to keep ordinary life going. People get up when they want, eat what they like, choose where to sit and keep their own belongings and habits. We take the trouble to learn a person's history and preferences, because staff who know somebody well are the ones who notice quickly when they are not themselves. We have not yet received an overall rating from the Care Quality Commission. Until we have, we would encourage you to come and see the home and ask us detailed questions about nursing cover, staffing, training and how care is planned here. Bletchingley is a nursing home in Haywards Heath in West Sussex. We care for older people and younger adults who need nursing support, including people living with dementia, people managing mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities and people living with sight or hearing loss. Respite stays are available too. Having nurses on site around the clock means people whose health is genuinely complicated can stay with us as circumstances change, rather than moving on at the point familiarity counts for most. Wounds, pain, continence, nutrition, medication and safe movement are properly managed here. Because our residents have very different needs, we plan care person by person. What settles somebody with dementia is not what helps somebody living with a long standing mental health condition, and one routine across everybody suits nobody in particular. Where sight or hearing loss is in the picture, small habits carry the weight: saying who you are as you come into the room, leaving furniture where it belongs, making sure glasses and hearing aids are clean and working. We also guard against clinical care turning into a schedule. People choose when they get up, what they wear, what is on the plate and how the day goes. We knock, we explain, and we wait to be told it is all right. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall, and we keep asking residents and relatives what needs our attention.

We are a nursing home in Maidstone, caring for older people who need qualified nursing support alongside help with the everyday parts of life. Nurses are on hand at any hour, so a change in somebody's health is picked up early rather than allowed to build, and families can set down a level of responsibility that had often become exhausting. Nursing care is not only a clinical matter, and we try not to treat it as one. What people notice day to day is whether they are known by name, whether their own routines still count for something and whether the person helping them has time to do it properly. Getting those right takes as much attention as anything medical. Respite stays are available too, whether that is a planned break for a family carer who has been managing at home for a long stretch, or a period of recovery after illness or a spell in hospital. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We keep asking residents and their relatives what could be better, because the most useful feedback rarely arrives on an inspection day. Broad Oak Manor Care Home is a nursing home in Dartford. We provide nursing care for older people and younger adults, including people with a physical disability, and we offer respite stays alongside permanent places. With nurses on duty at every hour, medication, skin care, nutrition, pain and mobility are managed here, and a change in somebody's condition is noticed by people who know how they usually are rather than by a stranger reading a chart. A good deal that would otherwise become a hospital admission is handled in the person's own room instead. Where somebody has a physical disability, the risk in any care setting is that life quietly narrows in the name of safety. It is always easier to bring things to a person than to get them out. We try to notice when that is happening, because support that shrinks a person's world is not good care however tidy the paperwork looks. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please come and visit if you are considering nursing care locally, and come at an ordinary time of day.

Beechwood House is a nursing home at Rowlands Castle in West Sussex. We care for older people and younger adults whose needs include nursing, including many living with dementia. Respite stays are part of what we do. Because nursing is provided here, nobody reaches a point of being too unwell to stay. That stability is worth more than it sounds, particularly to families who have already arranged one difficult move. The work we do deliberately is keeping the place domestic. A home with clinical staff in it can slide into feeling like a ward, and once that happens people stop being consulted about their own day. So mealtimes, fresh air, unhurried help and privacy are protected on purpose. For residents living with dementia we hold the routine steady and learn the life behind the person. We ask relatives early for the working life, the places and the music, because that information becomes much harder to gather later and it is what still connects when a good deal else has gone. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Ask us what we got wrong in the past year and we will tell you, because a place that cannot answer that is not paying attention.

Families often tell us that this continuity was the thing worrying them most. Nursing is the foundation of what we do and not the point of it. A good day here is measured by whether someone got up when they wanted, ate something they enjoyed, had their own belongings around them and spoke with somebody about something other than their health. For residents living with dementia we keep the routine steady and the staffing familiar, and we ask families for the life history that helps us reach the person rather than the diagnosis. Hawkhurst House is a nursing home in Cranbrook, Kent, and our work here has a particular focus on assessment. We care for older people and younger adults who need qualified nursing alongside help with daily living, including people living with dementia, people with a physical disability and people with a visual or hearing impairment, and we take respite bookings as well. A good deal of what we do is working out what somebody actually needs. People often arrive at a moment of upheaval, perhaps after a hospital stay or a period when things at home stopped being manageable, and decisions taken in a hurry at that point are rarely the right ones. Giving someone time in a settled place, with nurses on hand and people watching carefully, produces a far clearer picture of what support they need next and where they ought to be. Alongside that, we keep ordinary life going. People choose how their day runs, keep their own belongings with them, eat what they actually want and see their families whenever they like. Being assessed should not mean being put on hold. We talk straightforwardly with relatives and with the professionals involved, particularly when a recommendation is taking shape, so that nothing arrives as a surprise. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. Please contact us if you would like to discuss nursing or respite care in this part of Kent.

We are The Red House in Ashtead, Surrey, a nursing home run as part of Aurem Care. We look after older people and younger adults needing nursing support, including those living with dementia, and we take respite admissions alongside permanent residents. Nursing cover runs through the day and the night, which is what allows us to care for people whose health needs are significant or changeable without anyone having to move when their condition shifts. It also means care at the end of life can be given here, among familiar faces, which matters a great deal to families. For residents living with dementia we shape the day around the person rather than expecting them to fit our timetable. Knowing somebody's history and their long standing routines tells us more about how to approach a difficult morning than any general technique, and when a resident is distressed we look for the cause, because there usually is one. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We are not going to talk around that. We know what the inspection found, there is an improvement plan in place, and we would far rather go through it openly with a family weighing up a placement than have them come across it some other way.

Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission, carried out in May 2026, awarded us an overall rating of Requires Improvement. Visiting in person is often the best way to get a true sense of a home, and we would be delighted to show you around, answer your questions, and talk through how we can support your family during this important chapter.

Glen Arun is a nursing home in Horsham, West Sussex. We support older people and younger adults whose needs include nursing care, and we offer respite stays. Having registered nurses as part of the team means people with complex health needs can stay here as those needs change rather than being moved on again. Families who have already lived through one difficult move tend to see the value of that immediately. We work hard at keeping the nursing from setting the tone of the place. A nursing home can slide into feeling like a ward, and when that happens the rest follows: people stop being asked what they would like, days lose any shape of their own, and relatives begin behaving like hospital visitors. So we keep our attention on the ordinary things. Meals worth eating. Getting outside when the weather allows. Help without a long wait. Privacy. Being spoken to as somebody with a history rather than a set of conditions. Having younger adults as well as older residents means we do not run a single programme and call it activities, because what suits one rarely suits the other. We ask people individually. The Care Quality Commission rates us good overall. Come and eat lunch with us if you want a fair idea of what living here is like.

Arranging and funding a nursing home place in the South East
Nursing homes provide round the clock care from registered nurses alongside personal support with daily living. They suit people whose health needs cannot safely be met at home or in a residential setting, including those with complex long term conditions, advanced frailty, palliative needs, or rehabilitation requirements after hospital. Across the South East there are 886 nursing homes listed on Care Assura, ranging from small family run houses to larger specialist units, so families usually have a genuine choice within a reasonable travelling distance.
Understanding CQC ratings across the South East
The 886 nursing homes in the South East hold a mix of Care Quality Commission judgements. Some are rated Outstanding, such as Kingfishers, St David's Nursing Home and Melrose Care Home. A large share sit at Good, including Windsor Care Centre, Byron Lodge Care Home, Saltwood Care Centre and Wantage Nursing Home. Others are currently Requires Improvement, for example Cherington, Puttenham Hill House Care Home and Dashwood Manor, and one in the sample, St Anselm's Nursing Home, is rated Inadequate. Newer or recently reregistered homes such as Chichester Grange, Montfort Manor and Skylark House are not yet rated. Always read the most recent inspection report in full rather than relying on the headline rating alone.
Practical things to check on a visit
Look at staffing patterns, particularly the ratio of registered nurses on shift at night, and ask how clinical needs such as wound care, PEG feeding, diabetes management or end of life care are handled. Notice the small things: whether residents look comfortable, whether call bells are answered promptly, and how staff speak to people living with dementia. Ask about GP visits, pharmacy arrangements, activities, and how families are kept informed when a resident's condition changes.
Choosing between nursing homes in the South East
Before a nursing home place is confirmed, most people go through a care needs assessment. This is a structured conversation about health, mobility, continence, cognition and social wellbeing, and it produces a written summary of the support required. You can request one through the local authority adult social care team, which is responsible for coordinating assessments and any funded care in the South East.
Financial assessment and NHS Continuing Healthcare
Once needs are agreed, a separate financial assessment decides whether the local authority contributes to fees. In England, people with capital above the upper threshold usually pay their own fees, while those below it may receive means tested support. Because nursing homes involve registered nursing input, residents are also assessed for the NHS Funded Nursing Care contribution, which is paid directly to the home. Some people with intense, complex or unpredictable health needs may qualify for NHS Continuing Healthcare, which covers the full cost of the placement.
Typical cost context in the South East
Nursing home fees in the South East vary widely depending on location, room type and the level of clinical input required. Weekly fees are generally higher than for residential only care because of the nursing element. It is worth asking each home for a written fee schedule that sets out what is included, what is charged as an extra, and how annual increases are handled. Where the local authority is arranging the placement, there may be a personal top up to consider if the family prefers a home priced above the standard rate.
Frequently asked questions about nursing homes in the South East
How many nursing homes are there in the South East?
The South East has 886 CQC registered nursing homes: 36 Outstanding, 612 Good, 158 Requires improvement, 8 Inadequate, 72 not yet rated. Counts come from the CQC register and are kept up to date as ratings change.
How much does a nursing home cost in the South East?
Self-funders are typically asked £1,500 to £1,809 a week. Middle half of prices from 107 South East homes. Median £1,600. Published prices are often starting prices, and come from homes that publish fees, so treat them as a guide. What a council pays differs from council to council. Ask the home for its own price.
Which nursing homes in the South East were inspected most recently?
Pear Tree Court (30 September 2026), Ashridge Court Care Centre (29 September 2026) and Dorking Manor (28 September 2026) have the most recent CQC reports.
Which providers in the South East offer nursing care?
Care Assura lists 886 nursing homes across the South East, which is a substantial choice for families. The sample includes homes such as Windsor Care Centre, Bedhampton Nursing Home and Specialist Care Unit, Country Lodge Nursing Home, Beaumont Lodge Nursing Home and St Ronans Nursing and Residential Care Home. Because provision is spread across a large region, it helps to filter by the specific town or postcode area you need. Each listing shows the current CQC rating and the type of nursing care offered.
What should I ask when visiting a nursing home in the South East?
Ask how many registered nurses are on duty during the day and at night, and how the home manages specific clinical needs such as pressure care, catheter care or end of life support. Ask to see a typical week of activities, sample menus and the most recent CQC report. It is also fair to ask about staff turnover, how the home handles hospital admissions, and how relatives are contacted in an emergency. Trust your impression of the atmosphere as well as the answers you receive.
What is the difference between a residential care home and a nursing home?
A residential care home provides personal care, meals, activities and support with daily living, but does not have registered nurses on the staff rota. A nursing home offers all of that plus 24 hour input from registered nurses, so it can meet more complex health needs safely. People often move from residential to nursing care as their condition changes. If you are unsure which type fits, the care needs assessment will clarify the level of support required.
Can the local authority fund a nursing home placement in the South East?
Yes, the local authority can fund or contribute to a nursing home placement following a care needs assessment and a financial assessment. Whether you pay in full, part or nothing depends on your capital, income and assessed needs. In addition, the NHS Funded Nursing Care contribution is paid to the home for the nursing element of care, and NHS Continuing Healthcare may cover the whole placement where health needs are primary. It is worth asking for a clear written breakdown of who pays what.
How do I arrange a care needs assessment in the South East?
You can request a care needs assessment directly from the local authority adult social care team, either by phone or through their website. The assessment can take place at home, in hospital before discharge, or in another suitable setting. A social worker or assessor will look at physical health, mental wellbeing, safety and the support already in place from family. The outcome is written up and used to plan the type of nursing care that would suit you best.
How far in advance should I start looking for a nursing home?
Where possible, start looking as soon as nursing care is being discussed, even if a move is not immediate. Popular homes in the South East often have waiting lists, and viewing several places gives you a better sense of what feels right. If the move follows a hospital stay, decisions sometimes have to be made quickly, so having a shortlist ready is helpful. Even a few weeks of planning tends to lead to a calmer, better matched placement.
