About Ashton Lodge of Sunbury-on-Thames

Ashton Lodge is a nursing home in Sunbury on Thames, Surrey. We care for older people who need qualified nursing alongside everyday support, including many residents living with dementia, people with a physical disability and people with a visual or hearing impairment, and we also offer respite stays. Registered nurses are here around the clock, which means health needs are managed on site and nobody has to move on each time their condition changes. Families often tell us that this continuity was the thing worrying them most. Nursing is the foundation of what we do and not the point of it. A good day here is measured by whether someone got up when they wanted, ate something they enjoyed, had their own belongings around them and spoke with somebody about something other than their health. For residents living with dementia we keep the routine steady and the staffing familiar, and we ask families for the life history that helps us reach the person rather than the diagnosis. Where sight or hearing is poor we adapt how we communicate and make sure aids are working properly. We work closely with general practitioners, district nurses and hospital teams. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
