About Us
Hastings Court is a nursing home in Hastings, caring for older people who need qualified nursing support alongside help with the ordinary business of the day. Our nurses are here at all hours, which allows us to care for people with long term health conditions, those who have become frailer after illness, and those who need careful, dignified care at the end of their lives.
We also support people living with dementia and those whose physical disabilities affect how they move, wash, eat or communicate. Good care in both cases comes down to patience and to knowing the person. We ask families to tell us about the life lived before we met someone, because that is what tells us how to settle them on a difficult afternoon.
Life here follows the people in it. Breakfast is not a fixed event, the kitchen will make a sandwich at ten at night if that is what someone wants, and the day is filled with whatever people actually like doing. Many of our residents have lived in this part of East Sussex for decades, and we make the most of that shared local history in conversation and in the trips we arrange.
If you are looking at nursing homes, you are probably tired and short of time. Ring us, tell us what has happened, and we will tell you plainly whether we can help. You are welcome to visit at any time of day, unannounced if you prefer, and to speak with the nurses who would be caring for your relative.

More about the care at Hastings Court
What each type of care involves, and the questions worth asking when you call or visit.
Older Person Care
At 80 places, Hastings Court is larger than 43 of the 46 homes in the area, and well above a local average of 31. A home that size can feel busy, which suits some older people and not others, so it is worth visiting at a quiet hour and a lively one. Support with washing, dressing, medication and meals is the core of the day, and the home's own text makes a point of breakfast not being a fixed event and a sandwich being available at ten at night. Ask how a resident's own timings are recorded and respected once the home is full. Ask also how many staff are on duty overnight in a building of this size, and how quickly a call bell is answered after midnight.
Dementia
Seventy per cent of homes in the Hastings area, 32 of 46, hold a Good or Outstanding rating, and Hastings Court has none yet, having never been inspected. Dementia care depends less on a rating than on daily habit, steady routines, a secure and calm layout, and staff who know what settles a particular person. The home's own account asks families to describe the life someone lived before they met, because that is what helps on a difficult afternoon. Registration at this East Sussex home covers dementia alongside nursing, so it may suit someone whose dementia comes with a health condition needing a nurse. Ask how distress is handled, what is done for a resident who walks and tries doors, and how care is adjusted as dementia advances.
Physical Disability
The Hill Surgery, the nearest GP practice, is 1.2 miles from Hastings Court, with a pharmacy at 0.7 miles. Care for a physical disability turns on accessible bathing, room to manoeuvre, safe transfers and support that preserves what someone can still do alone. Since the home joined the register in October 2026, visit and look at doorways, bathrooms and lift access, and ask what equipment comes with a room.
Nursing Care
Conquest Hospital sits 0.9 miles from Hastings Court, about as close as a 24 hour A&E gets to a nursing home. That proximity matters for residents whose health can change in an afternoon. Nursing care means registered nurses on duty at every hour, which the home's own text describes for long term conditions, frailty after illness and care at the end of life. Weekly fees in the South East usually fall between £1350 and £1750, while East Sussex council tends to pay about £950 to £1150. Where a nursing need is assessed, NHS Funded Nursing Care contributes roughly £235 a week, and it is worth asking the Hastings home how that sum appears on the invoice.
