Home Care in Essex 475 home care agencies · 270 rated Good by CQC

Support delivered inside a person's own home is what all 475 home care agencies listed for Essex have in common, though very little else about them is identical. Ratings across that group include Outstanding and Good, alongside agencies rated Requires Improvement and others holding no rating because the Care Quality Commission has not yet inspected them. Essex County Council is responsible for the care needs assessment that establishes what help is required and how often, and for the financial assessment that determines how much of the cost is met from public funds rather than by the family. Either can be requested regardless of income or savings. Because agencies build their rounds around geography, registration in the county is no guarantee that a particular street is covered, so ask that question before anything else. Then open the profile of each agency still under consideration, read the inspection report that lies behind its rating, and let the findings there decide which one you approach first.

    • Home Care

We at Home Instead Senior Care are proud to provide compassionate home care to older people and adults across Chelmsford and the surrounding communities of Essex. As a trusted domiciliary care provider in the CM postcode area, we bring professional, personalised support directly to the place people love most: their own home. Being based in Chelmsford allows us to serve families throughout the town and its neighbouring villages, offering care that feels local, familiar, and genuinely connected to the community. Rather than asking people to adapt to a new environment, we come to them, working within the comfort of their own surroundings, where memories, routines, and independence can be preserved. For many families, this is what makes home care so meaningful: mum or dad can stay in the house they know, surrounded by their belongings, garden, and neighbours, whilst still receiving the reliable support they need each day. Our care is shaped around the individual. We support older people who may simply need companionship, help with daily routines, or a hand with practical tasks, as well as those living with more complex needs. Our dementia care is delivered with patience and understanding, focusing on gentle routines, familiar cues, and meaningful engagement that helps residents feel calm, respected, and truly seen. For people living with physical disabilities, we offer thoughtful assistance with mobility, personal care, and everyday activities, always encouraging independence wherever possible. We also support adults with visual or hearing impairments, adapting our communication and approach so that every visit feels reassuring rather than rushed. Younger adults who require tailored home support are equally welcome, and we take the time to build care plans that reflect their goals, preferences, and lifestyle. In practice, this means families can expect consistency, warmth, and continuity. We aim to match clients with caregivers who share similar interests and temperaments, because trusted relationships are at the heart of good home care. Whether the visit involves preparing a favourite meal, supporting a morning routine, accompanying someone to a hospital appointment, or simply sharing a cup of tea and a conversation, our team treats every moment as an opportunity to bring dignity and kindness into the day. For relatives who live further afield or juggle busy working lives, this reliable presence offers enormous peace of mind, knowing that their loved one is safe, supported, and not alone. We are pleased to be rated Good by the Care Quality Commission across all five key areas: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, and Well led, following our most recent inspection. For families weighing up options, this consistent rating is a reassuring signal that the care provided is safe, that outcomes are positive, that our team is genuinely caring, that we respond to changing needs, and that the organisation is thoughtfully managed. It reflects the standards we hold ourselves to every day and the trust placed in us by the people we support. Choosing home care is a significant decision, and we understand that families often begin their search during difficult or uncertain moments. If you are exploring support for a parent, partner, or loved one in Chelmsford or the wider Essex area, we would be delighted to speak with you, listen to your situation, and help you understand what tailored home care could look like. Please reach out whenever you are ready; we are here to guide you with patience, honesty, and genuine care.

Younger adults who require tailored support are equally welcomed, with care plans shaped around personal goals, interests, and aspirations rather than assumptions. In practice, this means families can expect a considered, unhurried approach. We take time to understand each person, their history, preferences, and the small details that make daily life feel meaningful. From short visits to more comprehensive daily support, we work flexibly around the needs of the individual and their household. Our commitment to quality is reflected in our CQC Overall Rating of Good, with Good ratings across every domain assessed: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, and Well led. This consistency, recognised at our most recent inspection in June 2021, offers reassurance that our practice meets the standards families rightly expect, from safeguarding and clinical effectiveness through to the warmth of everyday interactions and the strength of our leadership. Choosing care for someone you love is one of the most important decisions a family can make, and we understand the weight of that responsibility. If you are exploring home care in Colchester for a parent, partner, relative, or yourself, we would be delighted to hear from you. We work with a wide range of individuals, including older adults, younger adults, and people living with dementia, learning disabilities, autism, mental health conditions, physical disabilities, and visual or hearing impairments. We also support people managing eating disorders and those recovering from alcohol or drug misuse. Whoever comes to us, we take the time to understand their situation properly before anything else. We know that inviting someone into your home to support you, or watching a family member do so, is not a small thing. It requires trust, and we do not take that lightly. Our team works hard to build genuine relationships with the people we care for, showing up consistently and treating everyone with real respect and dignity. Care plans are built around the individual, not the other way around, and we stay flexible as needs change over time. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us as good, which we are proud of. It reflects the standard we hold ourselves to every day, and it gives families something concrete to point to when they are weighing up their options. We are based in Basildon and feel strongly about being part of this community. Supporting people to stay in their own homes, in familiar surroundings, close to the people and things that matter to them, is something we genuinely believe makes a difference to wellbeing. We at Premier Care are proud to provide trusted home care across Benfleet and the surrounding Essex communities, supporting people to live safely, comfortably and independently in the place they know best: their own home. Based in the SS postcode area, our team works throughout Benfleet and neighbouring areas, bringing care directly to residents in the familiar surroundings of their own homes. Rather than asking people to adjust to a new environment, we come to them, fitting our support around their routines, their preferences and the rhythms of family life. This community based approach means loved ones can remain close to the gardens, neighbours and memories that matter most to them. Our care encompasses a broad range of specialisms, allowing us to support adults at many different stages of life. For older people, we offer compassionate assistance with everyday tasks, personal care and companionship, helping to preserve dignity and independence. Our dementia care is delivered with patience and understanding, providing gentle consistency for those living with memory loss and reassurance for the families who love them. We also support younger adults, individuals with learning disabilities or autism, and those managing mental health conditions, tailoring our approach so that each person feels genuinely understood rather than simply cared for. For people living with physical disabilities or visual and hearing impairments, we adapt communication and practical support to suit individual needs, ensuring that everyone we visit can participate fully in decisions about their own care. In practice, this means flexible visits, thoughtful matching of care workers to clients, and a real commitment to building lasting, trusting relationships. Families tell us that knowing a friendly, familiar face is coming through the door makes an enormous difference, both to the person receiving care and to the relatives who may live further away. Our commitment to quality is reflected in our most recent Care Quality Commission inspection, carried out in April 2023, where we were rated Good overall. We also achieved a Good rating in every individual domain assessed: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well led. For families weighing up their options, this consistency offers meaningful reassurance that safeguarding, clinical effectiveness, kindness, responsiveness to changing needs and strong leadership are all embedded in the way we work day to day. Choosing home care is often a deeply emotional decision, and we understand that families come to us seeking not only practical help but also peace of mind. If you are exploring care options for a parent, partner or loved one in Benfleet or the wider Essex area, we would be delighted to have a gentle, no pressure conversation about how we might help. • Home Care

Care Givers provides support in people's own homes in Colchester and around Essex. We visit older adults and younger adults, including people living with dementia, people with a learning disability, autistic people, people with mental health needs, and people living with a physical disability. The reason most people ask us to come is that something has changed. An illness, a fall, a diagnosis, or simply the gradual arithmetic of getting older. Our job at that point is to work out the smallest useful amount of help, put it in place properly, and then keep looking at whether it is still right. Visits might involve personal care, prompting or giving medication, cooking, laundry, shopping, or support to get out of the house. Quite often the most valuable element is time spent talking, which is not filler and is not an afterthought. Isolation does real damage, and a regular visitor who knows you makes a measurable difference. We work hard on continuity, because being cared for by a rota of strangers is nobody's idea of dignity. Where we have to send somebody new, we brief them first. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you would like to talk about what support at home might involve, please contact us and we will go through it with you honestly.

Rather than asking loved ones to adapt to a new environment, we come to them, delivering personalised care within the walls of the place they know best. This approach allows residents to maintain their daily routines, stay close to cherished neighbours, and continue enjoying the local community they have long called home. Our care is thoughtfully tailored to meet the needs of older people and younger adults alike. For older residents, we provide gentle, respectful support with everyday tasks, promoting independence whilst offering the reassurance of a friendly, capable presence. For younger adults, we recognise that care needs can be very different, and we work closely with each individual and their family to build a plan that supports their goals, lifestyle, and personal aspirations. Whether the requirement is short visits to assist with specific tasks or more comprehensive daily support, our home care is shaped around the person, never the other way around. We understand that inviting a care provider into your home is a significant decision, and one that families do not take lightly. That is why we place such importance on building trusting relationships, listening carefully, and treating every household with warmth and dignity. Our aim is to give families peace of mind, knowing that their loved one is being cared for by people who genuinely care. As a newer presence within the regulated care sector, our profile is currently listed as Not Yet Rated by the Care Quality Commission. This simply means we are awaiting our first formal inspection and reflects our recent registration rather than any concern about the quality of care we provide. We remain fully committed to meeting and exceeding the standards expected of a modern, person centred home care provider in Essex. We are Ixceed Health UK, based in Brentwood and supporting people in their own homes across this part of Essex. We work with older people and people living with dementia, adults managing a mental health condition, people with a physical disability or a visual or hearing impairment, and younger adults who need support to live independently. Nothing begins with a brochure. It begins with a visit and an honest conversation about what has become difficult, what is still manageable and what would genuinely make a difference. From that we agree a plan together, which might be a single morning call or several visits a day covering personal care, medication, meals and the running of a household. We protect continuity rather than simply hoping for it. Sending the same carers to the same people is better care by any measure, and it is what allows somebody to relax enough to accept help with the more personal things or to mention a worry they have been keeping to themselves. Our carers are trained for the specific work they are sent to do and are supervised properly, and the office is reachable when a family needs to speak to somebody. We keep in contact with district nurses, GPs and social workers where they are involved. Our most recent CQC overall rating is good. Please ring us to discuss care at home.

We provide support for older people who value a little extra help with daily living, alongside specialist home care for those living with dementia, where consistency, patience, and a gentle approach make all the difference. In practice, this means our care plans are shaped around the whole person, not just a diagnosis, taking into account communication preferences, sensory needs, cultural background, and personal goals. For families, it offers real peace of mind knowing that one trusted team can walk alongside their loved one through different stages of life. Day to day, our support might include help with personal care, medication prompts, meal preparation, mobility, companionship, or accompanying someone to appointments and social activities in the local community. We at Ros and Mos House Support are proud to provide compassionate home care across Basildon and the surrounding Essex communities, bringing professional support directly into the places our clients know and love best: their own homes. Because we are a home care agency rather than a residential setting, the environment of care is uniquely personal. Our team travels throughout the Basildon area and the wider SS postcode region, delivering tailored visits that fit around each individual's routine, home layout, and lifestyle. This means our clients can continue to enjoy familiar surroundings, treasured possessions, and the comfort of their own neighbourhood whilst receiving the practical and emotional support they need to live well. Our specialisms reflect the diverse needs of the people we support. We provide dedicated older person care for those who wish to remain independent at home as they age, alongside specialist dementia care that focuses on gentle routines, familiar reassurance, and understanding communication. For clients living with a physical disability or with visual or hearing impairment, we adapt our approach thoughtfully, ensuring dignity and autonomy remain at the heart of every visit. We also extend our support to younger adults and to individuals managing eating disorders, recognising that meaningful home care is never one size fits all. In practice, this means families can expect a care plan shaped around the person, not the condition, with consistency, patience, and respect guiding every interaction. Following our most recent CQC inspection in April 2025, we received an overall rating of Requires Improvement. We believe in being open about this. Our inspectors recognised genuine strengths in the care we provide, awarding us Good ratings for being Effective, Caring, and Responsive, an acknowledgement that our team delivers warm, person centred support that meets the real needs of the people we visit. At the same time, the areas identified for improvement in Safe and Well-led have given us a clear focus, and we are actively working to strengthen these aspects of our operation so that every element of our care reflects the standard our clients deserve. We view this as a journey of continuous improvement, and we welcome open conversations with families about the steps we are taking. Choosing home care is one of the most important decisions a family can make, and we understand the weight of that choice. If you are exploring options for a loved one in Basildon or the wider Essex area, we warmly invite you to get in touch with us. We are happy to answer your questions, listen to your concerns, and talk through how we might support your family with kindness and care.

Here at Essex, we provide home care support to people living in Epping and the surrounding areas, helping individuals remain in the comfort and familiarity of their own homes. We believe that receiving care at home can make an enormous difference to a person's wellbeing, independence and sense of self, and we work hard to make sure that every person we support feels genuinely valued and heard. Our team is experienced across a wide range of care needs. We support older adults, younger adults, people living with dementia, those with learning disabilities or autism, and individuals managing mental health conditions, physical disabilities, visual or hearing impairments, and eating disorders. This breadth of experience means we can respond thoughtfully to each person's situation rather than offering a one size fits all approach. We are proud to have received a "Good" rating from the Care Quality Commission, which reflects the consistent effort our team puts in every single day. It is not something we take for granted. We know that being invited into someone's home carries real responsibility, and we treat that trust with the respect it deserves. Care planning with us is a collaborative process. We take time to understand what matters most to the people we support, as well as their families and loved ones. Routines, preferences and personal choices all shape the way we work alongside someone, because good care should fit around a person's life, not the other way around. If you are exploring care options for yourself or someone close to you, we would genuinely welcome a conversation. We are based in Epping and are always happy to talk through what support might look like and whether we could be the right fit for you.

    • Home Care

We at Pinnacle Care and Support are a home care agency proudly supporting people across Chelmsford and the wider Essex area, delivering personalised care within the place people cherish most: their own home. Based in the CM postcode area, our team travels across Chelmsford and its surrounding neighbourhoods to bring compassionate support directly to those who need it. Because our care is delivered in your own familiar surroundings, there is no need to leave behind treasured belongings, favourite armchairs, or the comforting routines of daily life. We work around each individual's home environment, adapting to their pace, preferences, and personal rhythms so that support feels like a natural extension of the household rather than an interruption to it. Our specialisms span a broad range of needs, allowing us to walk alongside people at many different stages of life. We provide older person care and dedicated home care for those who wish to remain independent for as long as possible, whilst also offering specialised dementia care for individuals and families navigating the changes that memory conditions can bring. Our team supports younger adults, people living with learning disabilities or autism, and those managing mental health conditions, always with a focus on dignity, choice, and meaningful daily living. We also assist people with physical disabilities and those affected by visual or hearing impairment, tailoring our approach so that communication, mobility, and comfort remain at the heart of every visit. In practice, this means our carers take time to understand the whole person, not just the care task in front of them. Whether that involves helping with personal care, preparing meals, supporting medication routines, encouraging hobbies and social connection, or simply offering a reassuring presence, we aim to make each visit feel unhurried and centred on the individual. For families, this brings peace of mind, knowing a trusted team is present when they cannot be, and that loved ones are being supported with warmth and respect. Our most recent CQC inspection, carried out in October 2019, gave us an overall rating of Requires Improvement. We were pleased to be rated Good in both the Caring and Responsive domains, which reflects the kindness of our team and our commitment to shaping care around the person receiving it. The Safe, Effective, and Well led domains were rated Requires Improvement, and we take these findings seriously as an opportunity to strengthen our practice, learn continuously, and raise the standard of the support we provide. We believe honest reflection is a vital part of good care, and we welcome open conversations with families about how we are working to improve. Choosing home care is a deeply personal decision, and we understand the trust families place in us when they invite us into their loved one's life. If you are exploring care options in Chelmsford or the surrounding Essex area, we warmly encourage you to get in touch. We would be delighted to listen, answer your questions, and discuss how we might be able to support your family with care that feels genuinely personal and thoughtfully delivered.

    • Home Care

We at Zero Three Domiciliary Care are proud to provide compassionate home care across Colchester and the surrounding Essex communities, supporting people to live well and independently in the place they know best: their own home. Based in the CO postcode area, our team travels throughout Colchester and nearby neighbourhoods to bring personalised support directly to the doorsteps of those who need it. Rather than asking people to adapt to an unfamiliar environment, we come to you, working within the comfort and familiarity of your own surroundings. This means residents remain close to the people, possessions, and routines that matter most, whilst receiving the tailored assistance they need to thrive each day. Our specialisms centre on supporting adults living with learning disabilities and autism, as well as younger adults who benefit from thoughtful, person centred care at home. In practice, this means we take the time to understand each individual: their communication preferences, their goals, their routines, and the things that bring them joy. Whether that involves help with daily living tasks, encouragement to build life skills, support to access the community, or simply reliable companionship, our approach is always shaped around the person, never the other way around. Families can feel confident that their loved one is being supported by a team that genuinely values dignity, independence, and choice. We understand that inviting a care provider into a family member's home is a significant decision. That is why we place such importance on building trusting, respectful relationships, not only with the people we support but with the wider family network too. Open communication, consistency of care, and a willingness to listen are the foundations of what we do. Our commitment to quality is reflected in our overall Good rating from the Care Quality Commission, following inspection in December 2021. We achieved a Good rating across every one of the five key domains: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, and Well led. For families, this consistent standard offers reassurance that the care provided is safe, that outcomes are meaningful, that compassion sits at the heart of every interaction, that support adapts to changing needs, and that the organisation is guided by strong, thoughtful leadership. If you are exploring home care options in Colchester for yourself or a loved one, we would be delighted to hear from you. Please get in touch to arrange a friendly conversation about how we might support your family. Whatever stage you are at in your search, we are here to listen, to answer your questions, and to help you feel confident about the next step.

    • Home Care

We are Essex Dementia Care, a home care agency based in Braintree and supporting people across Essex in their own homes. Dementia is the focus of our work, and everything about how we operate follows from what dementia actually asks of the people living with it and of those around them. Familiarity matters more than almost anything else. A person who is losing confidence in their memory is not helped by a different face at the door each week, so we keep the team around each person as small and as consistent as we can. We take time to learn a life history, because knowing about somebody's work, their family, the music they grew up with and the routines they have kept for decades gives us something real to reach for when the present feels confusing. Staying at home helps too. The layout, the light, the chair by the window and the view down the street are all anchors, and we would rather support someone within those surroundings than ask them to learn new ones. In practice our support covers personal care, prompting or administering medication, meals, help around the house and company through the parts of the day that are hardest. We also work with family carers, who often need practical relief and someone to talk to as much as anything else. Our most recent Care Quality Commission inspection rated us good overall. If you are facing a dementia diagnosis in your family, please get in touch and we will talk it through with you.

At Sams Medicare, we provide home care support to people living in Colchester and the surrounding areas of Essex. We work with older adults, younger adults and people with a range of needs, supporting them to live as independently as possible in the comfort of their own homes. We understand that inviting someone into your home to help with personal care or daily routines is a significant decision. We take that seriously. Our team works to build genuine relationships with the people we support, taking time to understand individual preferences, routines and what matters most to each person. Good care, in our view, is built on listening and on consistency. We are registered with the Care Quality Commission and our most recent inspection resulted in a "requires improvement" rating. We want to be straightforward about that. We have taken the findings seriously and have been working through the areas identified, making practical changes to how we operate and how we monitor the quality of our care. We believe in being open with the people we support and their families, and that includes being honest about where we are on that journey. Our focus is on providing care that is responsive and respectful, whether that involves help with personal care, support around the home or simply having someone present for companionship and reassurance. We recognise that needs can change over time and we aim to adapt accordingly. If you are considering home care for yourself or someone close to you, we are happy to have an honest conversation about what we can offer and whether we are the right fit. We know that getting this right matters enormously to the people involved, and that is what drives how we approach our work each day.

Younger adults living with complex conditions receive care that respects their goals, aspirations, and lifestyle, ensuring that support enhances life rather than defines it. In practice, this means our care workers take time to truly know the people they visit, learning preferences, life stories, and the small details that make a real difference. Families are kept informed and involved, becoming true partners in the care journey. Our Care Quality Commission rating is Good across every domain assessed, including Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, and Well led, following our most recent inspection in March 2022. This consistent recognition reflects the everyday dedication of our team and the trust placed in us by the people we support. It assures families that the care we provide is safe, responsive to individual needs, delivered by an effective and well organised team, and led with clear values. If you are exploring home care options for a loved one in Hockley or the surrounding Essex area, we warmly invite you to get in touch. Here at Efficiency For Care, we provide home care support to people living in Clacton On Sea and the surrounding areas of Essex. Our work centres on helping individuals remain in the comfort of their own homes, maintaining their independence and continuing to live life in the way that suits them best. We support a wide range of people across our community, including older adults, younger adults, and those living with dementia, learning disabilities, autism, mental health conditions, physical disabilities, and visual or hearing impairments. Every person who comes to us has their own story, their own routines, and their own expectations, and we take the time to understand what truly matters to each individual before we begin supporting them. Care in the home is personal. It takes place in someone's private space, often at their most vulnerable moments, so we are very mindful of how we show up for the people we work with. We aim to be consistent, reliable, and genuinely attentive, not just to the practical tasks at hand but to the overall wellbeing of the people in our care. We want every person we support to feel heard, respected, and comfortable. We are pleased that our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission resulted in an overall rating of good. That outcome reflects the hard work of our team and the standards we hold ourselves to day to day, though we are always looking at how we can continue to improve and grow. If you are considering home care for yourself or someone close to you, we would welcome the chance to have a conversation. Getting the right support in place can make an enormous difference, and we are here to help you work out what that might look like.

We provide care in people's own homes across Chelmsford and the surrounding parts of Essex. The people we visit are varied. Older people and younger adults, people living with dementia, people living with mental ill health, people with physical disabilities, people whose sight or hearing has changed, and people whose difficulties involve an eating disorder or the use of alcohol or drugs. That range means we cannot work from a standard template, and we do not try to. We start by understanding how somebody's day actually goes, what they can and want to do themselves, where things fall down and who else is already involved. Then we suggest support that fits, and we would rather begin modestly and build than arrive with a package that takes over a person's home. Continuity is the part we guard most carefully. The same carers going to the same households is what allows trust to build, and it is also how our staff notice that somebody is eating less, sleeping badly or becoming unwell. We speak up early when we are worried, and we work alongside GPs, community teams and social workers rather than around them. The Care Quality Commission has not yet given us an overall rating. We say so openly, and we are glad to explain instead exactly how we recruit, train and supervise our team. If you would like to talk about support at home, get in touch and we will be straight with you about what we can offer.

As a home care agency, we come to you. That means our support is shaped around your familiar surroundings, whether that is a quiet bungalow, a family home filled with memories, or a flat in the heart of Harlow. Being based in the CM postcode area, we are well placed to reach households throughout the town and neighbouring villages, delivering care that fits naturally into daily routines rather than asking anyone to adapt to an unfamiliar environment. Our team offers a broad range of specialist support, recognising that no two people need exactly the same help. We provide older person care and general home care for those who simply need a helping hand with everyday tasks, alongside more focused dementia care for individuals and families navigating memory loss. We also support adults living with learning disabilities and autism, mental health needs, physical disabilities, and visual or hearing impairment, as well as younger adults who benefit from tailored, respectful assistance. In practice, this means our carers are experienced in adapting their approach. For someone living with dementia, that might involve gentle reminders, consistent routines, and a calm, patient presence. For a younger adult with a physical disability, it may mean practical support that promotes independence and confidence. For families, it offers something equally valuable: reassurance that a loved one is not alone, that meals are prepared, medication is taken, and companionship is part of every visit. Our most recent CQC inspection, carried out in October 2021, awarded us an overall rating of Good, with Good ratings across the Safe, Effective, Caring, and Responsive domains. This reflects the standard of care our clients experience day to day, from the safety of the support provided to the kindness shown by our team. The Well led domain was rated as Requires Improvement, and we take that feedback seriously as an opportunity to strengthen how we lead and organise our care, always with the wellbeing of those we support at the centre of every decision. Choosing home care is a deeply personal decision, and we understand the worry that often comes with it. Carelink supports people in their own homes in Brentwood and across the surrounding parts of Essex. We work with older people and younger adults, with people living with dementia, with people who have physical disabilities or sight and hearing loss, and with people managing mental health conditions. Most people contact us at a point of change, often after a fall, a hospital stay or a diagnosis. We begin by sitting down with the person and whoever they want present, working out what has actually become hard, and agreeing what would genuinely help. Sometimes that is a short morning call for washing, dressing and medication. Sometimes it is several visits a day with meals, shopping and company. Sometimes it is a few reliable hours that let a family carer rest. Continuity is central to how we work. We keep the group of carers visiting each household small and familiar, and we introduce anyone new properly. Personal care is far easier to accept from someone you know, and a familiar carer notices quickly when a person is not themselves. We expect concerns to be raised with us the same day, and we act on them, whether that means speaking to a relative, a GP or a social worker. If you are arranging care at home in Brentwood or nearby, please get in touch and we will visit, listen and set out clearly what we can offer.

    • Home Care

We at Excellent Care Services Chelmsford are proud to offer compassionate home care across Chelmsford and the surrounding Essex communities, supporting people to live well and safely in the place they know best: their own home. Based in the CM postcode area, our team is well positioned to reach households throughout Chelmsford and nearby villages. Rather than asking people to adapt to an unfamiliar environment, we bring thoughtful, person centred support directly to your doorstep, whether that is a family home, a bungalow, or a flat in a retirement setting. Familiar surroundings, treasured possessions, and established daily routines all play an important role in wellbeing, and home care allows these comforting anchors to remain firmly in place. Our specialisms reflect the diverse needs of the people we support. We provide dedicated older person care, offering companionship, practical assistance, and reassurance to those who wish to remain independent as they age. Our home care support can be tailored around each individual, from help with morning routines, medication reminders, and meal preparation to gentle encouragement with mobility and everyday tasks. For people living with a physical disability, we work closely with the individual and their loved ones to understand what genuine independence looks like for them, adapting our approach so that support feels enabling rather than intrusive. We also welcome younger adults who benefit from tailored care, recognising that every stage of life brings its own aspirations, challenges, and preferences. In practice, this means families can expect care that flexes around real life. Whether a loved one needs a short visit each morning, longer periods of support throughout the day, or help maintaining social connections and hobbies, we aim to build a plan that fits comfortably into their world. We understand how much trust families place in a care provider when they invite someone into a relative's home, and we take that responsibility seriously in every interaction. As a newer registered provider, our service is currently listed as Not Yet Rated by the Care Quality Commission. This simply means a full inspection has not yet taken place, which is entirely normal for agencies at an earlier stage of their CQC journey. We remain fully regulated and committed to meeting the standards expected of every registered provider, and we welcome open conversations with families about our approach, our team, and how we work. If you are exploring home care options in Chelmsford for yourself or someone you love, we would be delighted to hear from you. Please get in touch to arrange a friendly, no obligation conversation, and let us help you feel confident about the next step.

We at Crossroads Braintree & Chelmsford are proud to be a trusted home care agency supporting individuals and families across Braintree, Chelmsford and the wider Essex community. Our mission is simple: to help people live well in the place they love most, their own home. Operating throughout the CM postcode area, we bring compassionate, personalised care directly to the doorsteps of those who need us. Whether you live in a quiet village on the outskirts of Braintree or in the heart of Chelmsford, our team travels to you, ensuring that familiar surroundings, treasured memories and everyday routines remain at the centre of daily life. There is no need to leave the comfort of a much loved home to receive the support that makes a real difference. Our care is as varied as the people we support. We provide dedicated Older Person Care and Home Care for those who wish to maintain independence as they age, alongside specialist Dementia Care that focuses on patience, gentle routine and preserving dignity through every stage of the journey. We also support adults living with Learning Disabilities and Autism, Mental Health conditions, Physical Disabilities, and Visual or Hearing Impairments, and we work with Younger Adults whose needs may differ from those traditionally associated with home care. In practice, this means our support is shaped entirely around the individual. For families, it might mean the reassurance of knowing a parent has help with morning routines, medication reminders or a warm meal. For a younger adult, it could mean the confidence to pursue hobbies, attend appointments or simply enjoy a walk with a trusted companion by their side. For someone living with sensory impairment, it is about clear communication, respect and thoughtful adaptations that make everyday tasks feel manageable again. Every care plan is a conversation, not a checklist, and we continually adjust our approach as needs evolve. We are proud that the Care Quality Commission has rated us Good overall, with Good ratings across all five domains: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well led. For families weighing up their options, this independent assessment offers meaningful reassurance that the care we deliver meets the standards you would rightly expect for someone you love. It reflects the everyday dedication of our carers and the values that guide our organisation. Choosing home care is a deeply personal decision, and we understand the weight that comes with it. If you are exploring support for yourself or a family member in Braintree, Chelmsford or the surrounding areas, we warmly invite you to get in touch. We are here to listen, to answer your questions and to help you find a way forward that feels right for your family.

At All4One Care, we provide home care support to people living in Ingatestone and across Essex. We come to you, supporting you in the place that matters most: your own home, surrounded by the things and people you know. We work with a wide range of people, including older adults, younger adults, and those living with dementia, learning disabilities, autism, mental health conditions, physical disabilities, and visual or hearing impairments. We do not believe in a one size fits all approach. Every person we support has their own routines, preferences, and goals, and we take the time to understand what matters to each individual before we do anything else. Our team is trained to provide care that is genuinely person centred. That means listening carefully, being consistent, and showing up reliably. We know that inviting a carer into your home is a significant decision, and we take that responsibility seriously. Whether someone needs support for a few hours a week or more intensive day to day assistance, we aim to make sure that care fits around their life rather than the other way around. We are registered with the Care Quality Commission and work to the standards they set out. We are transparent about where we are in that process and will always be honest with the people we support and their families about how we operate and what they can expect from us. If you are looking into home care for yourself or someone you love, we are happy to have a straightforward conversation about what we can offer and whether we are the right fit. You can reach us directly, and there is no pressure or obligation. We simply want to help people get the right support so they can continue living well at home.

    • Home Care

We at Mercury Healthcare are proud to provide compassionate home care across Colchester and the wider Essex area, supporting people to live safely and comfortably in the place they know best: their own home. Our team delivers personalised support tailored to each individual, with a genuine focus on dignity, independence, and wellbeing. Based in the CO postcode area, we serve families throughout Colchester and surrounding communities in the East of England. As a home care agency, our environment is not a building but the familiar surroundings of each person we visit. This means our care fits seamlessly into your loved one's daily routine, from morning check ins and personal care to companionship, meal preparation, medication support, and help with the small tasks that make a house feel like home. Being cared for in familiar surroundings, close to neighbours, memories, and cherished belongings, can bring enormous comfort, particularly for those living with cognitive or emotional challenges. Our specialisms reflect the breadth of people we support. We provide older person care with warmth and patience, understanding that ageing well means being listened to and respected. Our dementia care is delivered with sensitivity, offering gentle routines and familiar approaches that reduce anxiety and encourage moments of connection. For adults living with a learning disability or autism, we focus on enabling independence, communication, and confidence, working at each person's pace and in ways that suit their preferences. We also support individuals with mental health needs, offering steady, non judgemental care that promotes stability and self esteem. For those with physical disabilities, our team assists with mobility, personal care, and daily living whilst always championing choice and autonomy. We welcome younger adults too, recognising that care needs span every stage of life and that support should always feel age appropriate and empowering. In practice, this means families can expect a thoughtful, consistent approach. We take time to understand each person's history, preferences, and goals before care begins, and we work closely with relatives, healthcare professionals, and community teams to ensure everything joins up. Whether the need is a short daily visit or more comprehensive support throughout the day, our aim is to bring reassurance to the whole family, knowing that a caring, capable presence is there when it matters. Our most recent CQC inspection rated us Good overall, with Good ratings across the Effective, Caring, Responsive, and Well led domains. Safe was noted as Requires Improvement, and we take that feedback seriously, using it as a foundation for continued learning and strengthening of our practice. A Good rating reflects the everyday reality of our work: kind, capable staff, well organised care planning, and a leadership approach committed to doing right by the people we support. We remain focused on building on this, listening to feedback from residents and families, and continually raising the standard of what we offer. Choosing home care is a significant decision, and we understand the mix of emotions that can come with it, from worry and uncertainty to hope for a better quality of life for someone you love. If you are exploring options for yourself or a family member in Colchester or nearby parts of Essex, we would be delighted to have a conversation. There is no pressure, only a warm welcome and a willingness to listen. We at Greenfields Care Services are proud to support families across Brentwood and the wider Essex area with compassionate home care delivered right where it matters most, in the comfort and familiarity of your loved one's own home. Based in the CM postcode area, we bring our care directly to residents throughout Brentwood and the surrounding communities. There is something deeply reassuring about receiving support at home, surrounded by treasured belongings, familiar routines, and the memories that make a house feel truly personal. Our team travels to those who need us, meaning your loved one can continue to enjoy their favourite armchair, their morning view from the kitchen window, and the neighbourhood they know so well. Our care covers a thoughtful range of specialisms designed to meet people where they are in life. For older adults, we provide gentle, respectful support with the everyday tasks that can become more challenging over time, from personal care and medication reminders to companionship and help around the home. Our dementia care is delivered with patience, warmth, and a genuine understanding of how important consistency and kindness are for those living with memory difficulties. Families often tell us how much peace of mind it brings to know their relative is being supported by carers who take the time to truly know them as a person, not just as a care recipient. We also extend our care to younger adults who benefit from tailored support at home, recognising that everyone's journey and needs are different. Whether the requirement is short visits throughout the day, longer periods of companionship, or more comprehensive daily assistance, our approach is always shaped around the individual rather than a fixed template. This flexibility means care can evolve as circumstances change, giving families confidence that their loved one's needs will continue to be met with the same attention and warmth. As a newer presence on the Care Quality Commission register, we have not yet received our first overall inspection rating. Whilst this means there is no published CQC judgement to share at this stage, it also reflects that we are early in our regulated journey, and we welcome the opportunity to demonstrate the standards we hold ourselves to every single day. We would be delighted to speak with families openly about our approach, our team, and the values that guide our work. Choosing home care is a significant decision, and we understand the weight families carry when exploring options for someone they love. If you would like to learn more about how we could support your relative in Brentwood or the surrounding CM area, we warmly invite you to get in touch. A conversation costs nothing, and it may bring the clarity and reassurance you are looking for.

Clover Support Group supports people in their own homes in Harlow and the surrounding part of Essex. We work with older people and with younger adults, and our experience covers dementia, learning disabilities and autism, mental health needs, physical disabilities, and sight and hearing loss. Everything begins with a visit at home. We want to understand how the household works, who else is involved, what the person manages perfectly well without us and where help would make a real difference. The plan comes out of that conversation and belongs to the person to change. It might be a single daily call, support at several points for personal care, medication, meals and company, or longer visits for somebody who should not be alone for long stretches. Given the range of needs we meet, training is practical rather than a formality. Supporting an autistic person, supporting somebody in the later stages of dementia and supporting somebody with poor sight each call for different knowledge, and our carers have it before they go out. We hold onto continuity firmly, because familiarity does more for confidence than any amount of paperwork, and we tell people in advance when a new carer is coming. Families are kept informed and we raise concerns early rather than hoping they resolve themselves. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall.

    • Home Care

Here at Shaftesbury Cranfield Court, we provide home care to people living in Chelmsford and the surrounding areas of Essex. Our work is built around one straightforward idea: that people should be able to live well in their own homes, with support that fits around them rather than the other way around. We support a wide range of people, including older adults, younger adults, and individuals living with dementia, learning disabilities, autism, mental health conditions, physical disabilities, and visual or hearing impairments. Because our work covers such a broad range of needs, we take time to understand each person properly before we begin. No two people are the same, and we do not treat them as though they are. We are proud to hold a Good rating from the Care Quality Commission, which reflects the consistent, thoughtful care our team provides day to day. That rating matters to us, not because it is a badge to display, but because it tells the people we support and their families that we can be trusted to do this job properly. Home care means we come to you. We work within the spaces that matter most to people, their own living rooms, their own routines, their own pace of life. We think that is a real privilege and we do not take it lightly. Whether someone needs a short visit each day or more regular support throughout the week, we work to make sure the care feels personal and consistent. If you are thinking about care for yourself or someone close to you, we would genuinely welcome a conversation. There is no pressure and no rush. We are happy to answer questions, talk through options, or simply listen. Getting care right starts with that.

We at SylvianCare Harlow are proud to offer compassionate home care across Harlow and the surrounding communities in Essex, supporting older people and younger adults to live safely and comfortably in the place they know best: their own home. Operating throughout the CM postcode area, our team travels to residents across Harlow and the wider East of England, bringing professional care directly to the doorstep. Receiving support at home means familiar surroundings remain at the heart of daily life, whether that is a favourite armchair by the window, a much loved garden, or the comfort of long established routines. We work in partnership with families to fit our visits around what matters most, whether that involves a morning call to help start the day, support with personal care, companionship through the afternoon, or assistance settling in safely at night. Our specialisms cover a thoughtful breadth of needs. For older people, we provide gentle, respectful support that promotes independence whilst easing the practical challenges that can come with age. Our dementia care is delivered with patience and understanding, recognising that consistency, calm communication, and a familiar environment can make an enormous difference to wellbeing. For adults living with a physical disability, we tailor our approach to promote dignity, mobility, and confidence, working closely with each individual to understand exactly how they like things done. We also support younger adults who may need assistance to live the life they choose, whether that is help with daily tasks, accessing the community, or maintaining independence at home. For families, this means peace of mind knowing that a trained, dependable carer is visiting your loved one and that you can step back from the relentless pressures of caring whilst remaining closely involved. We believe good home care is built on relationships, so we take time to match carers thoughtfully and to listen carefully to the preferences, history, and personality of the person we are supporting. As a newer registered provider, SylvianCare Harlow has not yet received a CQC inspection rating. Whilst this means there is no published rating to share at this time, we are fully registered with and regulated by the Care Quality Commission and held to the same rigorous standards as every provider in England. We welcome open conversations about our approach, our team, and how we work, and we are happy to provide references and answer any questions you may have. Choosing care for someone you love is rarely simple, and we understand the weight families carry when making these decisions. If you would like to talk things through with no pressure and no obligation, please get in touch. • Home Care

Home Instead Senior Care in Colchester supports older people in their own homes across the town and the surrounding area, including many people living with dementia. Our visits tend to be longer than is usual in this work, and that is deliberate. A great deal of what makes care at home valuable cannot be done in fifteen minutes. Sitting down with somebody. Noticing that they have eaten less this week, or that the post has not been opened. Having the conversation that leads to a problem being dealt with early rather than in an emergency. We would rather do fewer, better visits than more rushed ones. We match carers to people with some care, taking account of temperament and interests as well as the practical help required, and we keep those pairings steady. Being helped to wash and dress is a close thing to allow, and familiarity makes it far easier. Where a change is unavoidable we introduce the new carer properly rather than simply sending them. With dementia we pay close attention to timing, routine and familiar faces, because the same help at an unexpected hour from somebody unknown can frighten rather than help. We work with families rather than around them, including when the honest conversation is a difficult one. Our carers are checked, trained and supervised. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall, and we are glad to talk things through without obligation.

Riverstone Healthcare Partners provides care and support in people's own homes across Chigwell and the surrounding part of Essex. We work with older adults, younger adults, people living with dementia, people with learning disabilities and autistic people, people living with physical disabilities, and people managing mental health conditions. Our starting point is always what the person wants their days to look like, rather than what a standard package of visits would usually contain. Someone may care far more about getting out to the shops than about having a spotless kitchen. Someone else may want the practical help done quickly so that they can have their home to themselves again. We ask, and then we arrange things to match. The support runs from short prompting calls through to several longer visits a day covering personal care, medication, meals, company and getting out of the house. For people living with dementia we work with the routines already in place, because the home is understood already and that is an advantage worth protecting. We keep the same carers with the same households wherever the rota allows, and we revise plans when circumstances change rather than at fixed review dates. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please get in touch if you would like to talk about support in Essex.

Here at The Care Professionals, we provide home care to people living in Dunmow and across Essex, supporting individuals to stay in the comfort and familiarity of their own homes for as long as they choose to. We work with older adults, younger adults, and people living with dementia or a physical disability. Our work looks different for everyone we support because the people we care for are all different. Some people need a little help with day to day tasks, while others require more involved, ongoing support. We take time to understand what matters most to each person before we ever begin, so that the care we provide genuinely fits around their life rather than the other way around. Dementia care is an area we take particularly seriously. We understand how much it means to someone living with dementia to remain in a familiar environment, surrounded by their own belongings and routines. We work closely with families too, because we know that when someone you love needs care at home, the whole family is affected. We want relatives to feel informed, reassured, and heard throughout the process. Supporting people with physical disabilities is also central to what we do. Whether someone is managing a long term condition or recovering from an illness or injury, we aim to promote as much independence as possible while making sure practical needs are met with care and consistency. We are based in Dunmow and proud to be a local provider, which means we understand the community we work within. Our aim is straightforward: to make it possible for people to live well at home, on their own terms. If you are thinking about care for yourself or someone close to you, we would welcome the chance to have a conversation about how we might help.

    • Home Care

We are Safeside Supported Living, based in Brentwood and supporting people in their own homes across this part of Essex. We protect continuity rather than merely hoping for it. We keep in contact with district nurses, GPs and social workers. Please ring us if you would like to discuss support at home.

We provide care and support to people in their own homes across south Essex, working from Basildon. We support older people and younger adults, and our experience covers dementia, learning disabilities and autism, mental health needs, physical disabilities, sensory loss, eating disorders, and alcohol and drug misuse. That is a wide span, and it only works if we are honest with ourselves about whether we can meet a particular need well. We assess at home, talk it through with the person and whoever they want present, and say plainly when we are not the right people rather than taking the work and hoping for the best. Where we do take it on, support may be personal care and medication, meals and housework, help with appointments, money and travel, or longer visits for somebody who needs company and supervision as well as practical help. For people managing a mental health condition, an eating disorder or a recovery, consistency and clear expectations help more than reassurance, and we aim to be steady rather than indulgent. We keep support teams small, introduce new staff properly, and record how each person prefers to be approached so the whole team works alike. We are registered with and regulated by the Care Quality Commission, and we are glad to answer any question you have.

    • Home Care

We provide care at home in Colchester and the surrounding part of Essex. The people we support include older people and younger adults, people living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities, autistic people, people with mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities and people with visual or hearing impairments. Needs that varied cannot be met from a standard package, so we ask before we plan. For an older person, help often centres on personal care, medication, meals and keeping the house manageable. For a younger adult it is more likely to be about independence: running a home, getting to work or college, handling money and keeping appointments. Where somebody is living with dementia, a familiar and unhurried carer does more good than anything written down. We put real effort into continuity, sending the same carers to the same households wherever the rota allows. It spares people from explaining themselves repeatedly and means somebody is likely to notice when a person is unwell, in pain or unusually withdrawn. Our staff are trained for the needs they are asked to meet and have senior colleagues they can reach when a situation is unclear. We do not yet hold an overall rating from the Care Quality Commission and are happy to discuss that openly with anyone considering us. If you are looking into care at home for yourself or a relative, please get in touch for an honest conversation.

    • Home Care

Bakers' Villas provides home care to older people living in and around Epping, Essex. We do one thing, and we would rather do it well than spread ourselves across everything. What we offer is help at home for older adults who are finding daily life harder than it used to be. That covers washing and dressing, prompting and administering medication, preparing meals and seeing that they are actually eaten, shopping, laundry, getting out to appointments, and the general practical business of keeping a household going. It also covers company, which is frequently the part that matters most to somebody living alone. We arrange visits around the day the person wants to have rather than the day that suits a rota. If somebody has always been up by half past six, we do not ask them to start waiting until nine. Where we cannot do something, we say so plainly rather than promising and disappointing. We keep the same small group of carers going to the same people. A carer who knows somebody notices the missed meals, the new bruise or the unusual confusion long before anybody else would, and that early warning is worth a great deal. Our most recent rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please get in touch if you would like to talk.

    • Home Care

Seccare provides care in people's own homes across Basildon and the surrounding parts of Essex. Those we support include older people, adults living with dementia, people with learning disabilities and autistic adults, those living with mental ill health, adults with physical disabilities and people with sight or hearing loss, as well as younger adults. We think the quality of home care is decided almost entirely by whether unglamorous commitments are kept. Arriving when we said we would. Sending someone who already knows the household. Doing what was agreed rather than what is quickest. Speaking up the same day when something has changed. Rotas are planned around what we can genuinely honour, and if we cannot cover an area or a time reliably we say so instead of promising. The other half is familiarity. A care worker visiting the same person over months learns what an ordinary day looks like for them, which is the only dependable way to notice when a day is not ordinary. It also spares people from introducing themselves to a stranger every week, which is a matter of dignity rather than efficiency. Where support calls for particular skill, such as dementia care or working well with an autistic adult, we train the whole team so everybody works the same way. The Care Quality Commission rated us good at our most recent inspection. Please ring us and we will be realistic about what we can do.

At Restcare, we provide home care support to people living in Harlow and the surrounding areas of Essex. We come to you, helping you stay in the comfort and familiarity of your own home while receiving the care and assistance you need. We support a wide range of people, including older adults, younger adults, people living with dementia, those with learning disabilities or autism, and individuals with physical disabilities or visual and hearing impairments. We take the time to understand each person we work with, because good care starts with genuinely knowing someone, not just their needs on paper but who they are, what matters to them, and how they like things done. Our team works closely with clients and their families to put together care arrangements that fit around real life. Whether someone needs a little help each day or more regular ongoing support, we aim to make that support feel as natural and unobtrusive as possible. We want people to feel confident and comfortable, not like a task on a list. We are proud that our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission resulted in an overall rating of Good. That outcome reflects the effort our team puts in day to day, and it gives families reassurance when they are making what can be quite a difficult decision about care for someone they love. We know that inviting a care agency into your home, or into the home of a family member, requires real trust. We do not take that lightly. We work hard to build consistent, reliable relationships so that the people we support always feel they know who is coming through the door and why. If you would like to find out more about what we can offer, we would be very happy to have a conversation with you.

At Crosspath Care, we provide home care support to people living in Colchester and the surrounding areas of Essex. We work with a wide range of individuals, including older people, younger adults, and those living with dementia, learning disabilities, autism, mental health conditions or eating disorders. Our aim is straightforward: to help people live well in their own homes, on their own terms. We know that inviting a care agency into your home is a significant decision, and we do not take that trust lightly. From the very first conversation, we take time to understand what matters to each person, not just their care needs but their routines, preferences and the things that make their day feel right. That understanding shapes everything we do. Our team is experienced across a broad range of specialisms, which means we can support people whose needs are more complex, as well as those who simply need a helping hand to stay independent. We work closely with families too, keeping communication open and honest so that everyone involved feels informed and reassured. We are proud to hold a Good rating from the Care Quality Commission, which reflects the consistency and thoughtfulness our team brings to their work every day. It is something we work to maintain, not as a badge, but because it tells the people we support and their families that what we do actually holds up to scrutiny. If you are exploring care options for yourself or someone you love, we would genuinely welcome the chance to have a conversation. There is no pressure and no obligation. We are here to help you work out whether we are the right fit, and if we are, to get things moving in a way that feels manageable and right for you.

Novus Care Canvey Island provides care in people's own homes on Canvey Island and across the surrounding parts of Essex. We support adults living with dementia, people with learning disabilities and autistic adults, those living with mental ill health, adults with physical disabilities and people with sight or hearing loss, and we work with people recovering from eating disorders and people affected by alcohol or drug use. We take on a wide range deliberately. Being told a case is too complicated is a demoralising experience for families who are usually already stretched, and we would rather assess properly and give a straight answer than turn people away on the basis of a label. Where needs are specialised, the whole team has to be working the same way rather than each care worker improvising. That is true of supporting an autistic adult, of handling mealtimes for somebody recovering from an eating disorder, and of staying steady with a person whose progress is not a straight line. We train for it and we keep teams small so that consistency is actually achievable. For everyone, the basics still decide the quality: arriving when we said, sending familiar faces, doing what was agreed and raising concerns quickly. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you are arranging support locally, ring us and we will be honest about what we can take on.

Here at Bentley Health Homecare, we provide professional and compassionate home care to people living in Colchester and the surrounding areas of Essex. We believe that receiving the right support at home can make an enormous difference to someone's quality of life, and that is exactly what we set out to deliver every single day. We work with a wide range of individuals, including older people, younger adults, and those living with dementia or a physical disability. We also support people with visual and hearing impairments, and we take the time to understand what each person needs before putting anything in place. No two people are the same, and the care we provide reflects that. Our team works closely with individuals and their families to build support that fits around real life. Whether someone needs a short visit in the morning or more regular assistance throughout the week, we will always aim to match the right carer to the right person. Consistency and familiarity matter, and we do our best to ensure the people we support see familiar faces rather than a constant stream of different carers. For those living with dementia, we understand how important it is to have carers who communicate calmly and patiently, and who can adapt to changing needs over time. We approach every visit with that same thoughtfulness, regardless of the level of support required. We are based in Colchester and are proud to be part of this community. We are registered with the Care Quality Commission, and we welcome any questions from prospective clients or their families about how we work. If you would like to find out more about how we might be able to help you or someone you care about, please do not hesitate to get in touch. We are always happy to have a conversation.

GoodOaks Homecare supports people in their own homes in Bishop's Stortford and the surrounding area. We work with older people and younger adults, including those living with dementia and people with a physical disability. Most people who contact us want to stay exactly where they are, and with the right help that is usually achievable. We begin by asking what has become hard and what someone would prefer to manage alone, and we build our visits around the answers. That might mean help to wash and dress in the morning, support with medication, a hot meal, a hand with the shopping and housework, or a call at bedtime so that someone can settle safely. Where a person is living with dementia, consistency does most of the work. We aim to send the same carers at the same times, because a familiar face at a familiar hour is reassuring rather than unsettling, and because those carers then notice quickly when something has changed. Reliability is what people judge home care on, so we plan rounds we can keep and tell people promptly if a visit must move. With the person's agreement we keep families updated and raise health concerns early with GPs and community teams. If you would like to discuss support at home, we are happy to visit and talk it through.

    • Home Care

We at Butterfly's Care are proud to provide compassionate home care across Colchester and the surrounding areas of Essex, supporting individuals to live well and safely within the comfort of their own homes. As a home care agency based in the CO postcode area, we bring our support directly to the people who matter most: you and your loved ones. Rather than asking individuals to adjust to an unfamiliar environment, we step into the spaces where memories have been made, routines feel natural, and independence is most cherished. Whether your loved one lives in a quiet residential street, a family home filled with decades of belongings, or a flat closer to the heart of Colchester, our team is ready to provide thoughtful care that fits seamlessly into daily life. Our specialisms reflect the diverse needs of the community we serve. We provide dedicated older person care, supporting those in later life with everything from companionship and personal care to assistance with daily routines. Our dementia care is delivered with patience, understanding, and a focus on preserving dignity, helping individuals feel safe and reassured even as memory becomes more challenging. For families, this often brings enormous peace of mind, knowing a familiar, trained carer is there to gently guide their loved one through each day. We also offer specialist support for adults living with a learning disability or autism, working closely with each person to understand their preferences, communication style, and goals. Our mental health support is grounded in empathy and consistency, recognising that emotional wellbeing is just as important as physical health. For those with a physical disability or living with visual or hearing impairment, we tailor our approach to promote independence, accessibility, and confidence in everyday tasks. Younger adults receive care that respects their lifestyle, ambitions, and individuality. We understand that needing support at a younger age comes with its own set of considerations, and we work in partnership with each person to ensure care feels enabling rather than restrictive. In practice, this means our care plans are never one size fits all. We take time to listen to residents, family members, and any healthcare professionals involved, building a clear picture of what good care looks like for that individual. From there, we deliver consistent, reliable support that families can rely on, whether that involves a short morning visit, regular check ins throughout the day, or more comprehensive ongoing assistance. Butterfly's Care is currently awaiting its first formal CQC inspection and therefore does not yet hold a published rating. We welcome this future assessment as an opportunity to demonstrate the standards we hold ourselves to every day. In the meantime, we encourage families to speak with us directly, ask questions, and learn more about how we work. Transparency and open communication are central to the trust we aim to build with every household we support. Choosing care for someone you love is rarely a simple decision, and we understand the weight that comes with it. If you are exploring home care options in Colchester or the wider Essex area, we would be honoured to have a conversation with you. We help people to carry on living where they want to be, with support arranged around the life they already have. We do not begin with a menu of packages. We begin by asking what has become difficult, what a person would rather keep doing for themselves, and who else they want involved. From there we agree what our visits will cover, which might be help with washing and dressing, support with medication, preparing meals, laundry and housework, shopping, or a call at the end of the day so that someone can settle safely. The plan is written in plain language and shared, and we change it when circumstances change rather than letting it drift. We want to be open about where we stand. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We would rather tell you ourselves and answer your questions about it, and putting it right is where our effort is going. The things people judge home care on are simple enough. Familiar carers, arriving when we said we would, doing what was agreed, and speaking up quickly when we notice a change. Those are what we are concentrating on.

Arranging and funding home care in Essex

What the assessment establishes

Funding and provider choice are separate decisions, and they are easier taken in that order. A care needs assessment sets out what someone can manage alone, what they cannot, and what support would close the gap, and anyone who appears to need care is entitled to one whatever their savings. Essex County Council carries out that assessment and the financial assessment that follows, and arranges funded support where a person qualifies. The written outcome is useful even to families who expect to pay for everything themselves, because it converts a vague sense that something must change into a specific list of visits and tasks that an agency can quote against. A relative providing unpaid support can ask for a carer's assessment in their own right at the same time.

The cost of an hour

Care at home is priced by the hour, with shorter calls charged proportionately and higher rates usual at weekends, on bank holidays and through the night. Where support is funded, the national means test decides the contribution, and anyone holding capital above the upper threshold arranges and pays for care privately. Funded support may arrive as an arranged service or as a direct payment, which hands you the choice of agency and the shape of the rota. Attendance allowance sits outside the means test altogether and is worth claiming whatever else is in place. Before agreeing a start date, ask for a full rate card in writing, including travel charges, bank holiday rates and the notice period on both sides.

Choosing between home care agencies in Essex

Whether the rounds actually reach the door

An agency registered to work in Essex is not necessarily an agency that will travel to your relative's address, because rounds are built around clusters of clients and travel time between them. Ask about coverage and available time slots in the very first call, since an agency that can only offer a late morning visit when help is needed at seven in the morning is not a real option however well it is rated. Work out in advance how many calls a day are needed, at what times, and what has to happen during each one. That preparation turns a listing of 475 agencies into a shortlist of a few.

Reading an inspection report on an agency

The Care Quality Commission inspects a home care agency as an organisation rather than as a building, so its rating reflects recruitment and training, medication handling, how calls are scheduled and covered, and how complaints are answered. Agencies here hold Outstanding, Good and Requires Improvement ratings, and some carry none at all because they registered too recently to be inspected. An unrated agency is not automatically a weak one, but there is no independent judgement to lean on, so ask harder questions and request references. Where a report exists, the sections on safety and responsiveness usually tell you more than the overall word.

The questions that draw out honest answers

Ask how many different carers will visit across a typical fortnight, because continuity affects daily life more than anything printed in a brochure. Ask what happens when a carer is delayed or off sick, and whether anyone tells the family. Ask how visits are logged, whether relatives can see those records, and how medication support is signed off. Ask how a package can be increased if needs change, and how quickly. An agency confident in its own service answers all of that without hesitation.

Frequently asked questions about home care in Essex

How do I arrange a care needs assessment in Essex?

Contact the adult social care team at Essex County Council and ask for a care needs assessment. Anyone who appears to need care and support is entitled to one regardless of income or savings, and you can make the request on a relative's behalf. A practitioner will look at daily tasks, mobility, medication and safety, then set out what support would meet the need. A financial assessment is carried out separately to establish who pays for what.

Will Essex County Council contribute towards home care?

It depends on the outcome of the needs assessment and the financial assessment taken together. Essex County Council applies the national means test, so capital above the upper threshold means funding care privately, while capital below it can bring a contribution towards the cost. Where care is funded, a direct payment is often available so that you can choose the agency yourself rather than accept an arranged service. Attendance allowance is not means tested and can be claimed alongside any of these arrangements.

Which agencies provide home care in Essex?

475 agencies registered to deliver care in people's own homes are listed for Essex. They include national providers running local branches as well as small independent agencies covering only a few towns. Coverage is the first thing to establish, because registration in the county does not guarantee that an agency's rounds reach a particular address. Each entry links to a profile showing the Care Quality Commission rating and the inspection findings behind it.

How does home care compare with moving into a care home?

Home care brings a carer to the door for planned visits while your relative stays in their own house with their routine, neighbours and belongings around them. A residential care home provides accommodation with support available through the day and night, and a nursing home adds registered nurses on site for clinical needs. Home care suits people whose needs fall at predictable points in the day and can be increased gradually as circumstances change. Where someone needs supervision around the clock, a residential setting is usually the more realistic option.

How early should a family start looking for an agency in Essex?

A few weeks is usually enough to compare agencies, arrange an assessment and let a package start gently rather than at full strength. Beginning early leaves room to trial a small number of visits and build on them as needs become clearer. When care is required on discharge from hospital the timescale shrinks to days, and a temporary package may be arranged for you while longer term choices are made. Nothing about that first arrangement is fixed, so treat it as a starting point.

What should I ask an agency before agreeing to a care package?

Ask how many different carers will come in a typical fortnight and whether the same people return, since continuity matters more than almost anything else. Ask how late or missed calls are handled and whether the family is told at the time. Ask how visits are recorded, whether relatives can see the records, and how medication is documented. Ask about minimum call lengths, notice periods and charges for travel or bank holidays, and ask for the answers in writing.
