About Us

Novus Care Canvey Island provides care in people's own homes on Canvey Island and across the surrounding parts of Essex. We support adults living with dementia, people with learning disabilities and autistic adults, those living with mental ill health, adults with physical disabilities and people with sight or hearing loss, and we work with people recovering from eating disorders and people affected by alcohol or drug use.

We take on a wide range deliberately. Being told a case is too complicated is a demoralising experience for families who are usually already stretched, and we would rather assess properly and give a straight answer than turn people away on the basis of a label.

Where needs are specialised, the whole team has to be working the same way rather than each care worker improvising. That is true of supporting an autistic adult, of handling mealtimes for somebody recovering from an eating disorder, and of staying steady with a person whose progress is not a straight line. We train for it and we keep teams small so that consistency is actually achievable.

For everyone, the basics still decide the quality: arriving when we said, sending familiar faces, doing what was agreed and raising concerns quickly.
