    • Care Home

Rutland House is a residential care home in Stoke On Trent. The people living here include older people, many of them living with dementia, along with younger adults, people with a learning disability or autism, people with a physical disability, people with sight or hearing loss and people managing mental health conditions. We also offer respite stays. Because our residents need quite different things from us, support is planned with each person rather than run to a single pattern. People keep their own rooms, their own belongings and their own routines, and they decide how much of the day to spend in company. We ask about the small preferences in detail and expect our staff to follow them, since those details are most of what separates a home from an institution. For residents living with dementia, consistency does the most good. Familiar staff, routines that change only when there is a reason, and the patience to understand what somebody means when the words have become unreliable. Communication matters more widely too, since not everybody here uses many words, and understanding a person properly takes time and a willingness to be corrected. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We take it as evidence that the ordinary everyday work is being done properly, and we keep looking at the detail rather than assuming it holds on its own. If you are considering a care home in this area for someone close to you, please visit, meet our staff and residents and ask us anything.

    • Care Home

Regent Road is a residential care home in Stoke on Trent, and we support older people who need help with daily living, adults with learning disabilities, autistic people, adults living with mental ill health, people with physical disabilities, people living with sight or hearing loss, and younger adults. Respite stays are available as well. A household this varied only works if people are treated as individuals rather than as categories, and that is how we run it. Support is agreed with the person, written in terms they recognise, and reviewed as things change. Some residents need a great deal of hands on help with washing, dressing, medication and mobility. Others mainly want a settled home and support that is available when they ask for it. For autistic people, predictability is a need rather than a preference, so changes are explained in advance, staffing is kept consistent where we can, and noise, light and busyness are taken seriously. For residents living with dementia we keep routines and surroundings familiar and give people time. For those with physical disabilities or sight and hearing loss, the emphasis is on equipment that fits, safe transfers and unhurried communication. Wherever we can, we do things alongside people rather than for them, because a skill used is a skill kept. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Families and professionals are welcome to visit and ask us whatever they need to know.

    • Care Home

Here at Alison House Care Home, we are proud to serve the community of Stoke on Trent, providing a warm and supportive home for the people who live with us. We understand that choosing a care home is one of the most significant decisions a family can make, and we take that responsibility seriously. We support older people across a range of needs, including residential care, dementia care, mental health conditions, physical disability, and visual or hearing impairment. We also offer respite care for those who need a short term stay, whether to recover after a hospital visit or to give family carers a well earned break. Whatever brings someone through our doors, we focus on getting to know each person as an individual, understanding their routines, preferences, and what genuinely matters to them day to day. Life at Alison House is built around the people who live here. We encourage independence wherever possible and work hard to ensure that everyone feels at home, comfortable, and connected. Families are always welcome, and we believe that keeping those important relationships strong makes a real difference to the wellbeing of the people in our care. We are pleased that our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission resulted in an overall rating of Good. That reflects the effort and commitment of our whole team, and it gives families some reassurance when they are considering us for their loved one. If you would like to find out more about what we offer or come in for a visit, we would be very happy to hear from you. We are always happy to show people around, answer questions, and have an honest conversation about whether Alison House might be the right fit. We look forward to welcoming you.

    • Care Home

Chiltern Rest Home is a residential care home in Stoke on Trent supporting older people, including many living with dementia, and we also welcome respite guests and some younger residents. We are a rest home in the older sense of the words. The pace is gentle, people are known by name and by history, and nobody is moved through their morning to suit a rota. Residents choose when to get up, what to eat and how to spend the day, whether that is in company or quietly with a paper and a good window. Dementia care is a large part of what we do. We keep the day predictable, the environment calm and the staffing consistent, and we take our lead from the person rather than correcting them. When someone becomes distressed we treat it as something with a cause and go looking for it. Relatives usually know what has always settled a person, and we would much rather ask them than work it out the slow way. Respite guests are treated exactly as permanent residents are while they are here, and a planned break can be what allows a family carer to keep going. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission was good. If you would like to look round, please get in touch and come and see us on an ordinary day.

    • Care Home

Hilton House is a residential care home in Stoke on Trent. We look after older people who need support with everyday living, including people living with dementia, people managing mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities and people living with sight or hearing loss. The mix of people we support is wide, and it means we plan around the individual rather than the category. What does somebody need, what can they still do perfectly well for themselves, and what do they want their day to look like. For residents living with dementia, familiar surroundings, unhurried staff and a predictable day do more good than anything else we could offer. Residents bring their own belongings, keep their own routines, choose how they spend their time and see visitors when they like. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We would sooner say so ourselves than leave you to find it elsewhere. We know which areas were identified, we have an improvement plan in place and we are working through it with our staff team. Ask us about it directly and we will give you a straight answer. The only real way to judge a home is to walk through it. Please come at a time that suits you and speak to residents and their families.

    • Care Home

The Chimes Residential Home provides residential care in Stoke on Trent for older people, including people living with dementia, people with mental health needs, people with physical disabilities and people who have sight or hearing loss. We also take planned respite stays. Most of what makes a care home a decent place to live is ordinary and daily. Getting up at an hour of your own choosing, food you actually want to eat, staff who know your name and your habits, and somebody noticing when you are quieter than usual. That is where our effort goes. For residents living with dementia, familiarity and an unhurried approach prevent far more distress than they cost. We ought to be plain about our inspection position. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission was requires improvement. We are not going to present that as a misunderstanding. It reflected real shortfalls, and our manager and staff team have been working through the findings, with tighter medicines practice, clearer record keeping, more training and supervision, and regular internal checks so that gaps are found by us rather than by an inspector. That work is not finished and we will not claim otherwise. If you are considering The Chimes for somebody you love, please come and look round, ask exactly what has changed since the inspection, and speak to residents and relatives while you are here.

The Limes in Stoke on Trent provides both nursing and residential care for older people and younger adults, with qualified nurses on hand throughout the day and night. Having nursing available on site means that when somebody's health needs grow, they do not have to move again to have them met. We support residents living with dementia. Our approach is to learn who each person is, keep routines familiar, explain changes before they happen, work at their pace, and treat distress as something with a cause rather than as behaviour to be managed. The nursing side of our work covers medication, mobility, nutrition, skin care, pain and comfort, done carefully and without fuss. Residents decide how their days run, rooms are personalised, and relatives are welcome whenever they can come. Respite stays are available for people needing care for a short period. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is Requires Improvement. We would rather tell you that ourselves than let you discover it. We took the findings seriously, we have been working through them steadily, and we will go through the detail with anyone who asks. Please come and visit at a normal time of day and judge us on what you find.

    • Care Home

We are a residential care home in Stoke on Trent supporting older people and younger adults who need help with daily living, including those living with dementia, people with mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities and people with loss of sight or hearing. Supporting that range means paying attention to individuals rather than to categories. Some of the people here need a good deal of help with personal care, medication and moving about. Others need much less of that and a great deal more support with everything else: keeping to arrangements, managing anxiety, getting out of the house and having staff who know when to step in and when to leave well alone. Residents keep their own rooms, belongings and routines as far as we can manage, and they decide how much they want to be part of whatever is happening. Where somebody is living with dementia we spend time learning their history and habits, because knowing the person is what settles them when they are frightened. Respite stays are available as well as permanent places. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission was requires improvement. We would rather tell you that ourselves than leave you to find it later. We are working through the points the inspectors raised and are willing to go through the report with anyone considering the home. Please come and see the place as it really is.

Here at The Meadows in Stoke on Trent, we offer residential care and support to a wide range of people, including older adults, those living with dementia, individuals with learning disabilities or autism, people experiencing mental health difficulties, and those with physical disabilities. We also welcome younger adults and provide short term respite care for those who need a temporary place to stay while their usual support arrangements are reviewed or rested. We are proud to have received a "Good" rating from the Care Quality Commission, which reflects the standard of care our team works hard to maintain every day. It means a great deal to us, not as a badge to display, but as reassurance to the people we support and their families that we take our responsibilities seriously. Life at The Meadows is built around the people who live here. We take time to understand each person's history, preferences, routines and goals, and we shape our support around what matters to them rather than what is simply easiest to deliver. Whether someone is with us long term or just for a short respite stay, we want them to feel genuinely at home. Families are always welcome here. We believe that keeping those connections strong is important for wellbeing, and we encourage family members to be involved in the life of their loved one as much as they wish to be. Our team brings a range of skills and experience across all of our specialist areas, and we invest in ongoing training to make sure our knowledge stays current and our approach remains person centred. If you would like to find out more about what we offer, or if you are considering care for yourself or someone close to you, please do get in touch. We are always happy to have a conversation.

We are a residential care home on Holdcroft Road in Stoke on Trent. Those living here include older people, some living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, people managing mental health conditions and people with physical disabilities. We are home to younger adults as well as older ones, and we offer respite stays. A mixed household asks more of us rather than less. One routine will not suit everybody, so we work out individually what a good day looks like for each person and build from there. For some it is company and something going on. For others it is their own room and being left in peace, and we treat that as an equally reasonable preference rather than something to be talked round. Where somebody can still do a thing themselves we support them to keep doing it, even when stepping in would be quicker. On a busy morning that takes discipline, and it is the difference between supporting someone and gradually deskilling them. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We ask the people who live here and their families regularly what we should be doing differently, and relatives often notice things we have stopped seeing.

Holly Lodge Residential Home in Stoke on Trent supports older people and younger adults. Our residents include people living with dementia, people managing mental health conditions, people with a physical disability and people with a visual or hearing impairment. With that range of needs we plan around the individual rather than the group. We ask a great many questions when someone moves in and we keep asking afterwards, about routines and preferences, about what helps when a day goes badly, and about who should be involved in decisions. Those answers go into a plan our staff genuinely work to. Day to day we keep the home comfortable and unhurried. People get up when they are ready, meals are cooked here and adapted to individual tastes, and support with personal care is given calmly and with dignity. Where someone has a sensory impairment we pay attention to the small things, such as saying who we are as we come in and explaining what is about to happen. For residents living with dementia we keep routines familiar and spend real time learning a person's earlier life, because that is usually what settles someone who is anxious. We also offer respite stays. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.

Hanford Manor is a residential care home in Stoke on Trent. We look after older people who can no longer manage safely on their own, and we try to keep the feel of a home rather than a unit, with people keeping their own routines, their own belongings and their own opinions about how things should be done. We support people living with dementia, and we approach that work by keeping life steady and familiar and by taking the trouble to understand what sits behind someone's distress rather than simply responding to it. We also care for people managing mental health conditions, people living with a physical disability and people with sight or hearing loss, where the right practical adjustments often make far more difference than anything else we could offer. Respite stays are available too, whether someone needs care while recovering or a family carer needs a genuine rest. We plan short stays as carefully as permanent moves. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good, which we take as the standard to hold rather than something to point at. What tells us more is the ordinary evidence, whether people are up and occupied, whether meals are something to look forward to and whether relatives feel able to raise a concern without hesitating. Anyone considering Hanford Manor is welcome to visit and see for themselves.

    • Care Home

Marrow House is a residential care home in Stoke on Trent. We provide care for older people, including those living with dementia, and we offer respite stays alongside permanent places. We keep things straightforward. People usually come to us because managing at home had become hard work, and what they want back is some ease. Meals they do not have to plan or cook. Help when washing and dressing has become a struggle. Somebody who notices when they are not themselves. Company when they want it and quiet when they do not. Residents carry on running their own lives as far as they are able, choosing their routines, arranging their rooms and deciding how much of the day to spend downstairs. We ask people to bring their own furniture and pictures, because a room that looks like yours makes settling in far easier. Dementia care here is built on consistency rather than anything elaborate. Familiar staff, a steady rhythm to the day, and knowing something about a person's earlier life. Families usually supply the details that explain everything, and we ask for them early. When somebody is unsettled, we look for the reason rather than simply calming the moment. Family and friends are welcome at sensible hours and are part of the household. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please come and look round Marrow House.

    • Care Home

Hanford Court Care Home is a residential care home in Stoke on Trent. The people who live with us are mostly older, and many arrive at a point when managing at home has stopped being safe or simply stopped being enjoyable. Some are living with dementia, some have a physical disability or difficulty getting about, and some come to us for respite while a relative takes a break or recovers themselves. What we offer is ordinary life with the difficult parts taken care of. Help with washing, dressing and medication is given quietly and without fuss. Meals are cooked here and people can eat when and where they prefer. Beyond that, we follow the person. Somebody who has always got up late carries on getting up late. Somebody who wants company at the table will find it, and somebody who would rather sit with the paper is left in peace. Supporting people with dementia is a large part of what we do, and it rests on knowing the person. We ask families to tell us about work, marriages, music, pets and habits, because that history is what helps us make sense of a difficult afternoon. Relatives are welcome here and we would far rather hear a worry as it arises than at a review months later. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please visit and see the place for yourself before you decide anything.

Each person's support is planned with them and with those who know them best, and it covers whatever is genuinely needed, from full help with personal care and moving safely through to prompting and encouragement while somebody does things for themselves. The plan is reviewed properly, because support that is never revisited slowly stops fitting. Communication gets close attention. We take time to learn how each person makes themselves understood, what settles them and what their behaviour is telling us, and we record it so that the whole team works in the same way rather than improvising. People are supported to have a life beyond the building, keeping up interests and activities, getting out locally and staying in touch with family and friends. Respite stays can be arranged where appropriate. If you are looking for a placement or a short stay, please contact us and come and see the home.

    • Care Home

Agnes and Arthur is a residential care home in Stoke on Trent. We support older people, including many living with dementia, people managing mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities and people living with sight or hearing loss. We are home to younger adults as well as older ones, and we offer respite stays for families who need a break. We try to run this as a household rather than a facility, and that shows in ordinary decisions more than in anything we could write here. Residents choose how their rooms look, when they get up, what they do with an afternoon. Where somebody can still do a thing for themselves, we support them to keep doing it even when stepping in would be quicker. Dementia care rests on knowing people properly, so we ask families for the history, the working life, the music and the names. Without that, we are managing a condition rather than keeping company with a person. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We would rather set that out here than have a family discover it elsewhere. We accept what was found, we are working through it, and we think anyone considering us should visit without an appointment, speak to residents and relatives, and ask us hard questions about what has changed.

    • Care Home

The Willows is a residential care home in Stoke on Trent, and the people who live here are a broader group than many homes take on. Older people who need help with daily living, including those living with dementia. Adults with learning disabilities and autistic people. Adults living with mental ill health. People with physical disabilities. Younger adults. Respite stays are available too. A mixed household only works if people are treated as individuals rather than as categories, and that is genuinely how we run the place. Support is agreed with the person, written in terms they recognise, and reviewed as things change. Some residents need a great deal of hands on help with washing, dressing, medication and mobility. Others mainly want stability, company when they choose it, and a household that holds together through a difficult week. For autistic people, predictability is a need rather than a preference, so changes are explained in advance and staffing is kept steady. For residents living with dementia we keep routines and surroundings familiar and give people time instead of hurrying them. For those with physical disabilities the emphasis is on equipment that fits and transfers handled safely. We would far rather hear about a small problem early than a large one later, so families who tell us when something is not right are doing us a favour. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. You are welcome to visit on an ordinary day and take your time deciding.

Broadmeadow Court is a residential care home in Stoke on Trent. We support older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia, people with physical disabilities and people whose sight or hearing is impaired, and we offer respite stays as well as permanent places. We try to make this feel like somewhere people live, not somewhere they have been put. Rooms are personal and people are encouraged to bring their own furniture and pictures. There is no rule about when to get up or go to bed, and nobody is made to join in with anything. Visitors are welcome at sensible hours without booking an appointment first. Our staff help with washing, dressing, medication, meals and moving about, and they do it in a way that keeps somebody's dignity intact. Where sight or hearing has changed we pay attention to the practical adjustments, the lighting, the contrast, the way information is given, that make the difference between somebody managing and somebody being cut off. For people living with dementia we keep things familiar and unhurried. We ask families to tell us about a person's working life, their habits and the people who matter, because that history is usually what helps us understand what somebody needs in a moment of confusion. The Care Quality Commission rated us good at our most recent inspection. Please come and look round, meet the team and speak to relatives of people who already live here.

We know that moving into a care home, or choosing one for someone you love, is a significant decision. We do not take that lightly. That means taking the time to understand each person, what matters to them, how they like their day to go, and what makes them feel comfortable and safe. Our team works closely with residents and their families to make sure care is shaped around the individual rather than a one size fits all approach. We communicate openly with relatives and welcome their involvement in the life of the home. We want to be honest. Elizabeth House is a residential care home in Stoke on Trent providing care for older people, including those living with dementia. Our concern is that people are known rather than merely looked after. We take time at the start to learn about somebody's life, their family and their habits, and we use that to shape their days here. People choose when to get up and go to bed, where to spend their time and how much company they want. Staff help with washing and dressing, with moving about safely, with medication and with eating and drinking well, and they do it without hurry, because being rushed is one of the things older people mind most. For those living with dementia we keep routines steady and surroundings familiar, and we work at understanding what somebody is communicating when words have become difficult. Meals are cooked here and there is a real choice. We know the people who live here well enough to notice when something is not right, and we involve the GP early. Respite and short stays can be arranged for families needing a break or people recovering after illness. If you would like to look round, please telephone us and we will arrange a time.

This positive outcome was reflected across every domain assessed by the regulator, with Good ratings achieved for being safe, effective, caring, responsive, and well led. Four Seasons is a residential care home in Stoke on Trent, caring for older people who need support with daily life, including those living with dementia. We provide long term residential care and respite stays. Some people join us because managing at home has become too much, some come for a few weeks while a family carer takes a rest, and some arrive after a spell in hospital and stay only until they are steady again. Whatever the reason, we spend the first days getting to know the person, not just their care needs, and we would always rather ask a family a question than make an assumption. Living with dementia does not stop somebody enjoying a familiar song, a hand of cards, a walk in the fresh air or a proper conversation about their working life, and much of our day is built around exactly those things. Our carers are trained to notice when someone is unsettled and to look for what has caused it, whether that is pain, tiredness, noise or simply the wish to be somewhere else for a while. We cook on the premises, we welcome relatives at any reasonable hour, and we keep families informed rather than waiting for them to chase us. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you are weighing up homes in the area, come and visit, talk to our staff and see whether Four Seasons feels right for the person you are supporting.

Here at The Poplars in Stoke On Trent, Staffordshire, we provide residential care for older people in a homely and supportive environment. Our focus is on getting to know each person who comes through our doors, understanding what matters to them and making sure their day to day life feels comfortable, familiar and as independent as possible. We support residents with a range of needs, including dementia, mental health conditions and physical disabilities. We also offer respite care for those who need a short break from their usual living situation, whether that is to recover after a stay in hospital or to give family carers some time to rest. Whatever the reason someone comes to us, we aim to make the transition feel as smooth and reassuring as we can. We are open about the fact that our most recent CQC rating reflects areas where we know we need to do better, and we are working steadily through those improvements. We believe in being honest with families and prospective residents rather than papering over concerns. The feedback we have received has helped shape the changes we are making, and we are committed to following through on them properly. Day to day, we try to create an atmosphere that feels less like an institution and more like a genuine home. Meals, activities and routines are shaped around what residents actually enjoy, not just what is convenient for us to organise. Family involvement is something we actively encourage, and we want people to feel that they remain connected to their loved ones throughout their time with us. If you would like to find out more or come and have a look around, we would be very happy to welcome you and answer any questions you might have.

    • Care Home

We at Davlyn House are proud to offer a warm, welcoming residential care home in the heart of Stoke on Trent, where compassionate older person care meets a genuine sense of community. Our home has been thoughtfully created to feel like a true haven for those who live with us, blending comfortable surroundings with the personal attention every resident deserves. Nestled within the familiar and friendly setting of Stoke on Trent, our home enjoys the benefits of its West Midlands location, with local amenities, green spaces, and community links close at hand. Inside, we have shaped an environment that feels calm, homely, and reassuring, with communal areas designed to encourage friendship and quieter corners for those who value peaceful reflection. Every space has been considered with our residents in mind, ensuring that daily life here feels comfortable, safe, and dignified. Our specialisms include residential care, dementia care, and respite care for older people, and each of these strands is delivered with a person centred ethos at its core. For families exploring long term residential care, we provide steady, consistent support that adapts as needs evolve. For those living with dementia, we take time to understand each individual's story, preferences, and routines, helping them feel known and secure even as memory changes the way they experience the world. Our respite care offers a valuable option for family carers who need a short break or for older people recovering after a hospital stay, giving reassurance that their loved one is in kind and capable hands during that time. What this means in practice is simple. Families can expect open communication, a listening ear, and a team who genuinely care about the small details that make a person feel at home, whether that is a favourite cup of tea in the morning, a shared memory of Stoke on Trent, or a quiet moment of company on a difficult day. We believe that good care is built on relationships, and we invest in those relationships every single day. We are proud to hold an Outstanding overall rating from the Care Quality Commission, with Outstanding scores in both the Caring and Well led domains, and Good ratings across Safe, Effective, and Responsive. For families, this independent recognition offers meaningful reassurance. It reflects the warmth of our team, the strength of our leadership, and our ongoing commitment to doing right by every resident who trusts us with their care. Whilst we are humbled by this recognition, we see it as a foundation to keep building upon rather than a destination. If you are considering care for yourself or a loved one, we warmly invite you to get in touch with us at Davlyn House. Choosing a care home is one of the most important decisions a family can make, and we are here to answer your questions, listen to your concerns, and help you feel confident about the road ahead. Whenever you are ready, we would be delighted to welcome you.

    • Care Home

Orsett House Retirement Home is a residential care home in Stoke On Trent providing care for older people, including people living with dementia and people with physical disabilities. We run the home at the pace of the people in it. Breakfast happens when somebody wakes rather than when a trolley comes round, and the day takes the shape a person wants. The care covers help with washing and dressing, medication, meals cooked here, support with mobility, and somebody always around when a person needs them. For those living with dementia we keep the routine steady and the faces familiar, and we arrange the house so that it is easy to understand and to move about in. Our staff tend to stay with us for a long time, and that continuity does more to settle somebody than any particular method could. Families are welcome whenever they wish to come, and we would much rather hear a concern early than have it sit unspoken until it has grown. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places, which can cover a family holiday or a period of recovery after illness. Our most recent rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please ring us if you would like to look round.

    • Care Home

Hillswood Lodge is a care home near Stoke on Trent. We provide residential care for older people and younger adults, and we support people living with dementia, adults with a learning disability and autistic adults. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places. Something we pay particular attention to is what happens as people get older. Needs change with age for everybody, and for somebody with a learning disability those changes are too often missed or put down to the disability itself. Dementia in particular can go unrecognised for a long time. We watch for it, we take it seriously, and we adapt the support rather than expecting the person to adapt to us. The people living here have a genuine say in the ordinary decisions. What is bought and cooked, how their rooms look, where they go and who comes to visit. Communication gets the most attention. Where speech is not how a person tells us things, we learn the way they do. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Families and social workers are welcome to visit and ask us anything.

Alder Grange is a care home near Stoke on Trent. We provide residential care for older people, and we support people living with dementia, people with a physical disability, people with a visual or hearing impairment and people managing a mental health condition. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places. Supporting that range of people under one roof works only if nobody is treated as a category. Somebody in the later stages of dementia and somebody who has managed a mental health condition for thirty years need almost opposite things from us. So we sit down with each person, work out what their week should actually contain, and arrange staffing around that rather than the reverse. Residents decide how their own day runs, keep their own things around them and see visitors when it suits them. Where sight or hearing has failed, we say who has come into the room and describe what is happening rather than assuming it is obvious. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please come and visit if you are considering care locally, and talk to the people living here.

    • Care Home

We at Wetley Manor Care Home offer residential care in a welcoming setting on the outskirts of Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire. Our home has been thoughtfully designed to support older people who need dedicated residential care, including those living with dementia, in comfortable and familiar surroundings. Nestled within the ST postcode area of Stoke on Trent, our location within the wider West Midlands region places us in a peaceful spot that still remains within easy reach for visiting family and friends. The setting offers residents the calm and stability that comes with a residential community, whilst the surrounding area of Staffordshire provides a genuine sense of place that many of our residents have called home for much of their lives. Our team supports a broad range of needs, including older person care, general residential care, dementia care, mental health support, physical disability care, and respite stays. In practice, this means we are able to welcome residents at different stages of their care journey. For someone living with dementia, our approach focuses on gentle routines, familiar faces, and an environment that feels safe and understandable. For residents with physical disabilities, we work to ensure that mobility, comfort, and dignity are always at the forefront of daily life. For families exploring mental health support for a loved one, we aim to provide a compassionate atmosphere where wellbeing is nurtured every day. Respite care is also part of what we offer, giving family carers a valuable opportunity to rest, recover, or attend to other commitments in the reassuring knowledge that their loved one is being looked after in a caring residential home. We understand that caring for a relative at home can be demanding, and short stays with us can offer both practical relief and peace of mind. At our most recent CQC inspection in November 2019, our home received an overall rating of Requires Improvement. Within that inspection, we were rated Good for being Effective, Caring, and Responsive, whilst the Safe and Well led domains were identified as areas Requiring Improvement. We share this openly because families deserve transparency. The Good ratings across three key domains reflect the warmth and attentiveness of the care our residents experience day to day, and we remain committed to strengthening every aspect of our home so that families can feel fully confident in choosing us. Choosing a care home is one of the most important decisions a family can make, and we understand the weight that decision carries. If you are considering residential or dementia care for a loved one in the Stoke on Trent area, we warmly invite you to get in touch, ask questions, and learn more about life at Wetley Manor Care Home. We are here to listen, to reassure, and to help you take the next step with confidence.

    • Care Home

We are The Willows in Stoke on Trent, a residential care home supporting older people, including people living with dementia and people managing a mental health condition. What we provide is residential care rather than nursing care, and we say so clearly to families at the outset so that nobody moves somewhere unable to meet their needs. Within it, we help with washing, dressing and moving about safely, support people with medication, provide proper meals and make sure nobody spends their days alone unless that is what they prefer. The home is run at the pace of its residents. Nobody is woken to suit a rota, mealtimes bend around the person, and how the day is spent is a matter for the individual. For people living with dementia, we work patiently and with their history in view. Familiar faces, an unhurried pace and a routine that makes sense to the person are worth more than any activity programme. Where somebody is managing a mental health condition, we work steadily and keep in contact with community teams and GPs so that support joins up. Our staff know residents well enough to notice when somebody is quieter or eating less than usual, and we ring families early rather than waiting. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places. Our most recent CQC overall rating is good. Please get in touch to look round.

Ashview House is a residential care home in Stoke on Trent. We are home to older people, including many living with dementia, people with physical disabilities and people living with sight or hearing loss. We also offer respite stays. Our priorities are not complicated. Decent food, a warm room, laundry that comes back, help when it is asked for and privacy when it is not. Residents set their own hours. Where somebody communicates differently we sort that out first and properly, whatever the reason. Getting it half right makes everything else harder than it needs to be. For residents living with dementia we protect routine and keep surroundings familiar, and we ask families for the working life, the places and the names, because those are what still connect when much else has slipped. Night time matters as much as the day. People who are awake at three in the morning should find somebody willing to sit and talk rather than somebody waiting for them to settle. The Care Quality Commission rates us good overall. Families are welcome to arrive unannounced and see us on an ordinary day, which is the only visit that tells you anything.

Wilbraham House is a residential care home in Stoke on Trent. We support older people, including those living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, and people with physical disabilities. We are home to younger adults as well as older ones, and we offer respite stays. A mixed household asks more of us, not less. A single routine will not suit everybody, so we work out individually what a good day looks like for each person. For some that means company and something going on. For others it means their own room, their own radio and being left in peace, and we treat that as an equally good day rather than something to be gently corrected. For residents living with dementia we keep the day predictable and the surroundings familiar, and we ask families for the history that lets us understand what a person means rather than just what they said. For residents with physical disabilities we plan around what somebody can still manage themselves, because independence handed over for convenience is rarely handed back. The Care Quality Commission rates us good overall. Families are welcome whenever they want to come, and relatives often notice things we have stopped seeing.

Maple Tree Court is a residential care home in Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire. We care for older people, including many residents living with dementia, and we offer respite stays alongside permanent places. Our work is everyday life supported well rather than clinical care, and we bring in general practitioners, district nurses and other community professionals when they are needed. We think the quality of a care home shows in ordinary moments rather than in anything written about it. Whether a person is helped to get up at the hour they would choose. Whether the food is worth looking forward to. Whether the person helping you wash knows your name and something of your history. Whether anyone notices when you are out of sorts and does something about it. That is where our effort goes. For residents living with dementia we keep staffing steady and the daily rhythm predictable, and we ask families to tell us about a person's working life, their family and the places they knew, because those are the threads that make conversation possible when recent memory will not oblige. Respite stays are planned with the same thought as permanent moves. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.

    • Care Home

Lavender House Residential Home provides residential care in Stoke on Trent for older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia. We also take planned respite stays. Most of what makes a care home a decent place to live is ordinary and daily. Getting up at an hour of your own choosing, food you actually want to eat, staff who know your name and your habits, and somebody noticing when you are quieter than usual. That is where our effort goes. For residents living with dementia, familiarity and an unhurried approach prevent far more distress than they cost, so we keep the shape of the day recognisable and let people work at their own pace. We should be plain about where we stand with the regulator. If you are considering Lavender House for somebody you love, please come and look round, ask exactly what has changed since the inspection, and speak to residents and relatives while you are here.

The Old Vicarage is a residential care home in Stoke on Trent supporting older people, including many living with dementia, and adults living with a physical disability. We also welcome respite guests. We run the home as a household. People get up when they are ready, eat what they want and spend the day as they choose, whether that is in company or quietly on their own. Staff learn residents' histories rather than just their needs, and in this part of the world there is usually a great deal of history to learn, much of it about the potteries, the families and the streets people grew up in. Dementia care is a large part of our work. We keep routines familiar, the building calm and the staffing as consistent as we can manage. We follow the person rather than correcting them, and when someone is distressed we look for the cause instead of treating the distress as the problem. Relatives usually know what helps, and we ask. For residents living with a physical disability we pay close attention to seating, equipment and how the building works, since independence tends to rest on very practical things being right. Respite guests receive exactly what permanent residents receive. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission was good. Arranging and funding a dementia care home place in Stoke On Trent

Quality, far more than postcode, is what separates the 39 residential care homes gathered on this page. Inspectors have judged one of them Outstanding, twenty seven Good and ten Requires Improvement, a wide spread for a single city and a strong argument for reading inspection reports properly rather than trusting a smart entrance hall. Every provider listed here is a residential care home, which means personal care and daily support rather than the continuous nursing input a dementia nursing home offers.

What Capable Dementia Support Looks Like Day To Day

The homes that do this well tend to share a handful of visible habits. Staff know residents by name and by history, so a conversation can be redirected gently instead of corrected. Daily routines flex around the person rather than the rota, which matters enormously when someone is restless in the late afternoon. Look for secure outdoor space that residents can actually reach without asking permission, clear signage and contrasting colours that help with orientation, and activity that suits the stage someone has reached rather than a single session that everyone attends. Ask how the home supports residents whose dementia advances, and whether a move elsewhere becomes likely as needs grow.

Reading An Inspection Rating With Care

A rating summarises a visit on a particular date, so treat it as a starting point. Open the report behind it and look at what inspectors said about safety and staffing in particular, since those findings shape the daily experience most directly. A home rated Requires Improvement is not automatically the wrong choice, especially where the concerns were administrative and have since been addressed, but you are entitled to ask what changed and to see evidence. Equally, a Good rating awarded several years ago deserves a question about turnover in the management team. Davlyn House is the one home here currently rated Outstanding, and comparing its report against others is a useful way to calibrate what strong practice reads like.

Choosing between dementia care homes in Stoke On Trent

Beginning With A Care Needs Assessment

Almost every placement starts with an assessment of need, and it is worth requesting one even if you expect to pay privately, because the resulting document gives you a clear description of the support required and strengthens the questions you put to each home. You can request an assessment through Stoke-on-Trent City Council Adult Social Care, which carries the statutory duty to assess residents of the city and to arrange funded support where someone is eligible. A separate financial assessment follows, looking at income, savings and property, and a carer living with the person can ask for an assessment of their own needs at the same time.

What A Placement Tends To Cost

Fees vary between the homes on this list according to the size of room, the level of support involved and whether a place is funded privately or through the council, so ask each provider for a written breakdown rather than a headline weekly figure. Check what the fee covers and what is charged separately, since chiropody, hairdressing and outings are often extras. Where the council funds a placement it contributes up to a set rate, and a family wishing to choose a more expensive home may be asked for a top up payment, which should be agreed in writing before anyone moves in. People whose dementia brings significant nursing needs may also qualify for a contribution from the National Health Service, assessed separately through continuing healthcare.

Frequently asked questions about dementia care homes in Stoke On Trent

How many dementia care homes are there in Stoke On Trent?

Stoke On Trent has 39 CQC registered care homes that are registered for dementia care, out of 64 CQC registered care homes in Stoke On Trent: 1 Outstanding, 27 Good, 11 Requires improvement. Counts come from the CQC register and are kept up to date as ratings change.

Which dementia care homes in Stoke On Trent were inspected most recently?

Lindly House Care Home (22 February 2026), Lavender House Residential Home (21 July 2025) and Chiltern Rest Home (16 December 2024) have the most recent CQC reports.

Which providers offer dementia care in Stoke On Trent?

39 residential care homes across Stoke On Trent are registered to support people living with dementia, and all of them appear on this page. They include Davlyn House, Trentside Manor Care Home, Hanford Court Care Home, Alder Grange and Rutland House, alongside smaller homes such as Chiltern Rest Home and Claybourne. Each listing links to a profile showing the provider's current rating and its most recent inspection findings. Working through several profiles side by side is the quickest way to narrow a long list down to a manageable shortlist.

How does a dementia care home differ from a dementia nursing home?

A dementia care home provides accommodation, personal care and support with everyday tasks such as washing, dressing, eating and taking medication, with community nursing called in when needed. A dementia nursing home employs registered nurses on site at all times, so it can manage clinical needs like wound care, feeding tubes or complex medication regimes. Every provider listed on this page is a residential care home rather than a nursing home. If a relative already has substantial health needs alongside their dementia, it is worth discussing whether a nursing placement would suit them better before you begin visiting.

What should I ask when I visit a dementia care home here?

Ask how many staff are on duty overnight and how many of them have dementia specific training, then ask how long the current manager has been in post. Find out how care plans are reviewed, how families are kept informed when something changes, and what happens if your relative becomes distressed or tries to leave. Ask to see the room you would actually be offered, not a show room, and visit around a mealtime so you can watch how residents are supported to eat. Trust what you observe about the atmosphere between staff and residents as much as the answers you are given.

How do I arrange a care needs assessment in Stoke On Trent?

Contact the adult social care team at Stoke-on-Trent City Council, which has a duty to assess anyone in the city who appears to need care and support. The assessment considers what a person can manage alone, where they need help and what outcomes matter to them, and it usually takes place at home or in hospital. You can request one on someone's behalf with their agreement, and a carer may ask for a separate assessment of their own needs. Ask for a written copy of the completed assessment, because it is genuinely useful when you start approaching individual homes.

Can the council pay for a dementia care home placement?

Stoke-on-Trent City Council can fund a placement where its assessment confirms that residential care is needed and a financial assessment shows that savings, income and property fall below the national thresholds. Funding is rarely all or nothing, and many families end up contributing part of the fee while the council covers the remainder. Where a preferred home charges more than the council will pay, a relative may be asked to make a top up payment. Anyone with significant nursing needs should also ask about National Health Service continuing healthcare, which is assessed through a separate process.

When should a family start looking for a home?

Begin earlier than feels necessary, ideally while your relative can still take part in the decision and share what matters to them. Good homes in Stoke On Trent often have waiting lists for particular room types, so two or three months of looking is a reasonable expectation rather than a worst case. Starting early also means you can visit more than once, including unannounced, and see a home on an ordinary day rather than a prepared one. Where a move follows a hospital stay the timescale collapses to days, which is exactly why a shortlist prepared in advance is worth the effort.
