About Us
Wilbraham House is a residential care home in Stoke on Trent. We support older people, including those living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, and people with physical disabilities. We are home to younger adults as well as older ones, and we offer respite stays.
A mixed household asks more of us, not less. A single routine will not suit everybody, so we work out individually what a good day looks like for each person. For some that means company and something going on. For others it means their own room, their own radio and being left in peace, and we treat that as an equally good day rather than something to be gently corrected.
For residents living with dementia we keep the day predictable and the surroundings familiar, and we ask families for the history that lets us understand what a person means rather than just what they said. For residents with physical disabilities we plan around what somebody can still manage themselves, because independence handed over for convenience is rarely handed back.
The Care Quality Commission rates us good overall. Families are welcome whenever they want to come, and relatives often notice things we have stopped seeing.
