About Us
Hillswood Lodge is a care home near Stoke on Trent. We provide residential care for older people and younger adults, and we support people living with dementia, adults with a learning disability and autistic adults. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places.
Something we pay particular attention to is what happens as people get older. Needs change with age for everybody, and for somebody with a learning disability those changes are too often missed or put down to the disability itself. Dementia in particular can go unrecognised for a long time. We watch for it, we take it seriously, and we adapt the support rather than expecting the person to adapt to us.
The people living here have a genuine say in the ordinary decisions. What is bought and cooked, how their rooms look, where they go and who comes to visit.
Communication gets the most attention. Where speech is not how a person tells us things, we learn the way they do.
Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
Families and social workers are welcome to visit and ask us anything.
