    • Care Home

Shoemaker Place is a residential care home in Stone, Staffordshire, supporting older people including those living with dementia, people with physical disabilities and people with sight or hearing loss. Day to day, our work is about keeping life recognisable and comfortable. Helping somebody get up and dressed in the way they prefer, serving food they actually look forward to, making sure the television or the radio is on the station they like, and giving time to conversation. For people living with dementia, we focus on what is still there rather than what has gone, and we build the day around the person's own pace. Where somebody has a physical disability or lives with sight or hearing loss, we pay attention to the practical detail. Equipment that is right for the person, belongings kept where they are expected, and information given in a form that can actually be received. Respite stays are available too, whether a family carer needs a planned break or someone needs support for a few weeks. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We would rather be straightforward about that than hide it. Work is under way on the areas identified, and we are happy to talk through with any family exactly what has changed. Please come and visit, ask us anything, and form your own view.

    • Care Home

Merevale House is a residential care home in Atherstone, Warwickshire. We provide residential care for adults who can no longer manage on their own, and a large part of our work is caring for people living with dementia. We are not a nursing home, and it is worth being clear about that. What we offer is residential care: help with washing and dressing, medication given on time, meals cooked here, laundry done, and staff on duty through the night as well as the day. Doctors and district nurses come in when clinical care is needed. For a great many people this is exactly the right level of support, and it takes far less from their independence than a clinical setting would. Dementia asks something particular of a home. It asks for a day that runs in a familiar order, for surroundings that are easy to make sense of, and for staff who do not correct or argue but go where the person is. We take time to learn about somebody's working life, family and habits, because that is what allows us to understand them when words begin to fail. Respite and short stays are available, whether for a planned break or for recovery. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. You are welcome to visit Merevale House and see the place for yourself.

    • Care Home

We are a residential care home in Atherstone, providing a home for older people and younger adults who need help with daily living, including those living with dementia, people with physical disabilities and people with loss of sight or hearing. Our aim is a settled house where help is close at hand without taking over somebody's life. Residents keep their own rooms, belongings and routines as far as we can manage, and they decide how much they want to be part of whatever is happening. Where someone needs help with washing, dressing or moving about, we try to give it without hurry and without doing more of the task than is actually needed, because what a person can still manage themselves is worth protecting. Dementia care rests on knowing the person rather than following a procedure, so we ask families to tell us about working life, children, music, faith and old habits. Where sight or hearing is poor, small habits matter a great deal: saying who you are on coming into a room, speaking clearly and not moving things about without saying so. Meals are cooked here and we listen when somebody would rather have something different. Respite stays are available as well as permanent places. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. Please come and look round before deciding anything. We will be straight with you about whether we can meet the needs you describe.

    • Care Home

We are a residential care home in Atherstone, providing a home for people who need help with daily living, and a good deal of our work is with people living with dementia. Our aim is an unhurried house. A great deal of care is spoiled simply by being rushed, so we try to give people the time to wash, dress and eat at their own pace, and to sit with somebody who wants to talk rather than moving straight on to the next task. Residents keep their own rooms, belongings and routines as far as we can manage, and they decide how much they want to be part of whatever is happening. Dementia care, as we have come to understand it, is mostly a matter of knowing the person. We ask families to tell us about working life, children, music, faith and old habits, because that knowledge is what allows a member of staff to reassure somebody who is frightened or cannot place where they are. It is worth a great deal more than any written procedure. Family and friends are welcome whenever they would like to come, and we would always rather a concern was raised early than saved up. Respite stays are available as well as permanent places. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. Please come and see the home for yourself before deciding anything.

Here at Highborder Lodge, we provide residential care for older adults in the heart of Stonehouse, Gloucestershire. We are a care home that genuinely feels like a home, and that matters to us enormously. The people who live here are at the centre of everything we do, and we work hard to make sure each person feels known, respected and comfortable in their surroundings. We support a range of needs, including dementia care, residential care for older people, care for those living with a physical disability, and support for people with visual or hearing impairment. We also offer respite care for those who need a short term stay, whether that is to recover after a hospital admission or to give family members and carers a period of rest. Dementia care is something we approach with real thoughtfulness. We understand that living with dementia affects not just the individual but the whole family, and we aim to provide an environment that feels calm, familiar and reassuring. Our team takes time to understand each person's history, preferences and routines so that care feels personal rather than generic. For those coming to us for respite, we want the experience to feel as settled and unhurried as possible. A short stay should never feel like an interruption to life, and we do our best to make sure people feel genuinely welcome from the moment they arrive. We are proud to be part of the Stonehouse community, and we welcome anyone who would like to come and see us in person. A conversation over a cup of tea is often the best way to get a real sense of who we are and whether Highborder Lodge might be the right fit for you or your loved one.

    • Care Home

St Augustine's Care Home is a residential care home in Addlestone, Surrey, providing a home for older people who need support with daily living. We care for residents living with dementia and those with a visual or hearing impairment, and we offer respite stays for people who need care for a shorter period. We want daily life here to feel ordinary and comfortable. Residents choose when to get up, how to spend their time and what they want to eat. Meals are cooked on the premises and preferences are remembered. There is company and activity for those who want it and quiet for those who do not. Our dementia care rests on knowing people. We ask families about a person's life, work, music and habits, because reassurance lands far better when it is familiar, and we keep the pace unhurried. For residents with a sensory impairment we take care that conversation and information genuinely reach them. We should be open about our last inspection. The Care Quality Commission rated us requires improvement overall. We did not contest the findings. We accepted them, drew up an improvement plan and are working through it with closer oversight of the areas raised. We would rather tell you this ourselves and show you what has changed. Families are welcome at any reasonable time and we keep relatives properly informed. If you are considering the home, please visit and ask us the difficult questions.

Here at Howards Residential Home in Addlestone, Surrey, we offer a warm and homely environment where older people can feel genuinely comfortable and well looked after. We are proud to have received a "Good" rating from the Care Quality Commission, which reflects the effort and commitment that runs through everything we do here. We care for older adults with a range of needs, including those living with dementia, those with visual or hearing impairments, and those who simply need a period of respite care while their usual support arrangements change or their family members take a well earned break. Whether someone comes to us for a short stay or makes Howards their permanent home, we aim to make that transition as smooth and reassuring as possible. Dementia care is something we take seriously. We understand how important it is for people living with dementia to feel safe, recognised and understood rather than just managed. Our approach is built around getting to know each person properly, learning what matters to them and finding ways to support their independence and dignity every single day. For those with sensory impairments, we are mindful of the extra thought that needs to go into communication and everyday routines. We work alongside residents and their families to make sure individual needs are met in a way that feels respectful and practical. We know that choosing a care home is one of the biggest decisions a family can make. We encourage anyone who is considering Howards to come and visit us, have a look around and ask us anything they like. There is no pressure and no rush. We simply want people to feel confident that this is the right place for them or their loved one. We would love to welcome you.

Following our most recent Care Quality Commission inspection in June 2025, Sheerwater House received an overall rating of Requires Improvement. Within this, we are pleased that our home was rated Good in three key areas: how effective our care is, how caring our team is, and how responsive we are to residents' needs. These ratings reflect the genuine warmth and dedication our staff bring to their work every day, and the personalised approach we take to supporting each resident. We fully acknowledge the areas identified for improvement, particularly around safety and how the home is led. We take this feedback seriously and are committed to making meaningful changes that strengthen these areas. Continuous improvement is at the heart of good care, and we welcome open conversations with families about the steps being taken to enhance every aspect of life at Sheerwater House. Choosing a care home is one of the most important decisions a family can make, and we understand the emotions involved in that journey. • Care Home

Oakleigh is a residential care home in Godstone, Surrey. We are home to older people, including many living with dementia, and we offer respite stays for families who need a planned break. Nobody here is on a schedule they did not choose. We think a care home that runs on staff convenience stops being a home fairly quickly. Dementia care here rests on knowing people. We ask families for the history, the working life, the places and the music, because those are what still connect when much else has slipped. Without them we would be managing a condition rather than keeping company with a person, and residents notice the difference even when they cannot name it. Respite guests are properly looked after rather than merely accommodated. We find out beforehand how somebody likes things done. Where somebody wants to take a risk, such as walking unaided or going out alone, we work out how to make it safer rather than simply saying no. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If we cannot meet somebody's needs properly we will say so rather than take them anyway.

Southmead Rest Home is a residential care home in Broadstone for older people, including those living with dementia. We are not a nursing home, so what we do well is personal care, a settled daily rhythm and knowing everybody who lives here as a person rather than a set of needs. We help with washing and dressing, medication, meals and anything else that has become difficult, at the pace of the person rather than the pace of a rota. Residents decide when they get up and go to bed, where they sit, what they eat and whether they want company or a quiet afternoon on their own. For residents living with dementia we keep the surroundings familiar and the staff consistent, explain what is happening as we go and try to work out what is behind a change in mood instead of treating it as a symptom. Families usually know a person better than any assessment, and what they tell us shapes how we work. Mealtimes matter here. Food is cooked on the premises, we ask people what they actually fancy and nobody is hurried along. Respite stays are available, whether to give a family carer a break, to help somebody build strength back up after illness or to let a person see what living here is like before making a longer decision. You are welcome to visit and ask us anything.

    • Care Home

Lulworth House is a residential care home in Maidstone, Kent, and our work is with older people living with dementia. Specialising matters in dementia care. A home that is set up for it can shape everything around the way dementia actually affects people, rather than treating it as an extra demand on a general routine. That means a day that runs in a familiar order, surroundings that are easy to read and to navigate, and staff who are used to going where the person is instead of correcting or arguing with them. We take time to learn about somebody before their diagnosis. Knowing that a person got up at five for forty years, was never without a dog, or cannot settle unless the wireless is on will tell us more about how to support them than any assessment. It also helps us make sense of behaviour that would otherwise look inexplicable, because it almost always makes sense once you know the person. What we provide is residential rather than nursing care. Staff are here day and night to help with washing, dressing, medication and meals, while doctors and district nurses come in for clinical needs. Respite and short stays are available, which can give a family carer a genuine break. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please ring us to arrange a visit.

    • Care Home

Woodgate is a residential care home in Maidstone. Those living here include older people, many living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, people with physical disabilities and people living with sight or hearing loss. We support younger adults too, and respite stays are part of what we do. A household this mixed means one routine will not fit everybody, so we work out individually what a good day looks like for each person. For some that is company and something going on, and for others it is being left largely alone, which we treat as an equally reasonable preference. Where a resident communicates differently, whether through sight, hearing or anything else, we settle that properly at the start and everybody uses the same approach. It is the thing most often left half finished. Where somebody can do a thing themselves we support them to keep at it even when stepping in would be quicker. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We keep asking residents and their families what we should be doing differently, and we act on it.

    • Care Home

Fairlawn is a residential home in Maidstone, Kent, for older people who need care and companionship and can no longer manage alone at home. We are a house rather than an institution, and we would like the people who live here to feel that this is theirs. We provide residential care, which covers help with personal care, medication, meals, mobility and company, with community health professionals called in when something clinical is needed. We support residents living with dementia, and our approach is unglamorous and effective: familiar staff, an unchanging routine, food people recognise and reassurance repeated as often as it is wanted. We pay attention to how people eat and sleep and whether somebody seems quieter than usual, because those are usually the first signs that something needs looking at. Respite stays are available too. They give family carers a genuine rest, and they let a prospective resident spend time here before any permanent decision is made. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. That is a standard we intend to keep rather than a badge to point at. If you are considering Fairlawn for a relative, please come and see us during an ordinary day, meet the people who live here and make up your own mind.

    • Care Home

We are a residential care home in Maidstone, providing a home for older people who need help to get comfortably through the day. We try to keep the atmosphere of a house rather than an institution. People bring their own furniture and pictures, get up and go to bed when it suits them, and carry on with the things they have always enjoyed. We help with personal care, mobility, meals and medication, and we look after people living with dementia. What we have found makes the real difference is not a particular programme but familiar staff, routines that stay steady and enough time that nothing needs to be rushed. Mealtimes, conversation and a bit of fresh air matter as much to how somebody feels as any part of a care plan. Respite stays are available as well, whether that gives a family carer a proper rest or lets someone try the home for a short period before deciding about anything longer. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We think keeping it depends on hearing about small problems early, so we ask residents and relatives often and we act on what they say. Do come and see us if you are looking at homes in this part of Kent. Looking round and meeting people tells you far more than anything written down.

Pilgrims Way Care Home with Nursing is in Maidstone, Kent. We provide residential and nursing care for older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia and people living with mental ill health, and we offer respite stays. Having both residential and nursing care here means that when somebody's health changes, they usually do not have to move somewhere unfamiliar to get the care they need. That continuity is worth a great deal to families, and it is one of the things we protect most carefully. The day belongs to our residents. People get up when they wake, eat what they enjoy, and spend their time in company or on their own as they prefer. Our nurses and carers work together closely, and we keep in regular contact with GPs and community teams so that changes in health are picked up early rather than late. For people living with dementia and for those living with mental ill health, what helps most is a settled environment and staff who know them well. We work hard to keep our team stable for exactly that reason. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you are considering care in Maidstone, please come and visit, meet the team and ask whatever you need to ask.

    • Care Home

We are Bowercroft Care, a residential care home in Maidstone, Kent. We are home to older people, including many people living with dementia, and we also welcome people for respite stays when a family carer needs a break or when someone needs care for a short period. We aim for a home that feels ordinary in the best sense. People get up when they wake, eat food they actually like, sit where they want and spend their days as they choose. Rooms belong to the people in them, and we encourage families to bring in furniture, photographs and the small familiar things that make a space somebody's own. Dementia care is much of what we do. We work on calm surroundings, a predictable rhythm to the day, and staff who know a person's history well enough to understand what they are trying to say when the words are difficult. When somebody is distressed, our first question is what is behind it. Families are welcome throughout the day and we would far rather relatives dropped in casually than felt they were visiting an institution. We ask for views regularly and act on them. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We keep checking ourselves against it rather than assuming it holds. If you are considering a care home in Maidstone, please come and see us on an ordinary day.

Mont Calm is a residential home in Maidstone, Kent, providing a permanent home for adults who need care and support with everyday life. Our care is residential rather than nursing. We help with personal care, medication, meals, mobility and company, and we bring in community health professionals when something more clinical is needed. Many of our residents live with dementia, and we rely on familiar staff, a routine that stays where it is and reassurance given as often as it is needed. We support younger adults too, planning their interests and routines on their own terms rather than folding them into a pattern designed for older residents. Respite stays are available for families needing a planned break from caring at home. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We would rather set that out here ourselves than have a family come across it later and wonder why we kept quiet. • Care Home

We are a residential care home in Maidstone, providing a home for older people and younger adults who need help with daily living, including those living with dementia and people with loss of sight or hearing. Our aim is an unhurried house. A good deal of care is spoiled simply by being rushed, so we try to give people the time to wash, dress and eat at their own pace, and to sit with somebody who wants to talk rather than moving straight on to the next task. Residents keep their own rooms, belongings and routines as far as we can manage, and they decide how much they want to be part of whatever is happening. Meals are cooked here and we pay attention when somebody would rather have something different. Dementia care comes down to knowing the person. We ask families to tell us about working life, children, music, faith and old habits, because that knowledge is what allows a member of staff to reassure somebody who is anxious or cannot place where they are. Where sight or hearing is poor, small things matter a great deal: speaking clearly, saying who you are on coming into a room and not moving things about without saying so. Respite stays are available as well as permanent places. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. Please come and see the home for yourself before deciding anything.

We at Eastfield are proud to offer a welcoming residential care home in the heart of Maidstone, Kent, where older people receive compassionate support tailored to their individual needs. Our home has been thoughtfully designed to feel just that, a home, where every resident is treated with dignity, warmth, and genuine respect. Nestled within the Maidstone community in the ME postcode area, Eastfield benefits from the charm and convenience of one of Kent's most established towns. Our setting provides comfortable communal spaces where residents can socialise, relax, or enjoy quieter moments of reflection, whilst also being close to the local amenities, green spaces, and cultural landmarks that make this part of the South East such a lovely place to call home. Families visiting loved ones will find us easy to reach, with the familiar surroundings of Maidstone providing reassurance that relatives remain connected to the wider community. Our specialisms lie in older person care, residential care, dementia care, and respite care. For residents living with dementia, this means an environment where routines, familiarity, and gentle encouragement help to preserve independence and identity. Our team takes time to understand each person's life story, preferences, and abilities, ensuring that care is never one size fits all. For those in need of longer term residential support, we provide the everyday assistance that allows residents to focus on enjoying life, whether that means pursuing hobbies, spending time with visiting family, or simply savouring a quiet cup of tea in comfortable surroundings. Respite care is also an important part of what we offer. We understand that family carers sometimes need a well earned break, or that a loved one may need short term support following a hospital stay or period of illness. Our respite stays are designed to feel just as personal and considered as long term care, giving both residents and their families peace of mind during transitional times. Following our most recent inspection on 14 August 2025, the Care Quality Commission rated Eastfield as Good overall, with Good ratings across every domain assessed, including Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, and Well led. This consistency reflects our commitment to maintaining high standards in every aspect of daily life at the home, from the way medicines are managed and safeguarding is upheld, to the responsiveness of our team and the leadership that underpins everything we do. For families, a consistently Good rating offers real reassurance that their loved one is in capable, caring hands. We know that choosing a care home is one of the most significant decisions a family can make, and it is rarely an easy one. At Eastfield, we welcome enquiries and visits from families who are exploring their options, and we are always happy to answer questions, offer guidance, or simply share a conversation about what your loved one needs. Please do get in touch to arrange a visit and see for yourself the warmth and care that make our home in Maidstone such a special place to live.

    • Care Home

Loose Court is a residential care home in Maidstone, Kent. We are home to older people who need support with everyday life, including residents living with dementia, residents with physical disabilities and residents with visual or hearing impairment, and we offer respite stays for shorter periods. Residents here have different histories, different routines and very different ideas of a good day, so we plan support one person at a time. We ask when someone likes to wake, what they want to eat, how much help they want and where they prefer to spend the afternoon. Help with personal care, meals and medication is given quietly and with respect for privacy, and whatever a resident can still manage for themselves is protected. Dementia care shapes much of our work. Knowing a person's history, the people and places that matter to them and the rhythms that suit them is what allows us to reassure rather than argue when someone is unsettled. For residents with sensory loss we adapt how we communicate and how rooms and shared spaces are arranged, so that nobody is quietly left out. For residents with physical disabilities we pay attention to mobility and to what makes independence possible. Families are welcome whenever they wish to come and we would far rather hear a concern while it is small. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.

The Vale is a residential care home in Maidstone. We support older people, including people living with dementia, and we also care for younger adults whose needs we know we can meet well. Moving into a care home is a significant thing, and we try to make it feel like arriving somewhere rather than being placed. Before anyone comes to live here we spend time with them and their family, learning not only what help they need but how they like their days to go, what they eat, when they sleep, who they want to hear from and what they would rather we left alone. That is the plan we then work to, and it is theirs to change. Day to day life is unhurried. People keep their own hours and their own belongings, choose company or quiet as they please, and get help with washing, dressing and moving about at their own pace and as privately as possible. Meals are cooked here and we would rather cook what somebody fancies than expect them to fit in with us. With dementia, knowing a person's life story is what allows us to offer comfort when words become harder, so we gather it with families and keep adding to it. We also offer respite stays, which can give a carer at home a real break. Families are welcome at any reasonable time, and anyone thinking about a move is welcome to visit and talk to the people who live here.

Hillbeck is a residential care home in Maidstone, Kent. We are home to older people, including many living with dementia, and we support younger adults too. We also offer respite stays for families who need a planned break. We concentrate on comfort and reliability. A warm room, meals worth having, laundry that comes back properly, and staff who come when called. Knowing a person properly is most of the work. Not their diagnosis but their habits: early riser or not, talkative in the morning or not, which grandchild rings on Sundays. For residents living with dementia we protect the routine and keep the surroundings familiar, and we ask families for the history that lets us understand what somebody means rather than only what they said. Relatives hold details we would otherwise never know. We are honest about what we cannot do. If somebody's needs would be better met elsewhere we will say so, even when it would suit us to keep them. Residents have a say in how the place runs, and not only in theory. Where we cannot do what has been asked for, we explain why rather than letting it drift. Families are welcome to arrive unannounced and see us on an ordinary day, which is the only visit that tells you anything.

We are Rose Water Place Care Home in Maidstone, Kent. We provide residential care for older people, including those living with dementia, and we also support younger adults whose needs suit a residential setting. Respite stays are available. Moving into a care home is a considerable upheaval, and we try to make it feel less like an ending than it can appear. People arrive with their own furniture, pictures and habits, and we work around those rather than expecting everybody to take on ours. What time you like to wake, where you want your breakfast, how sociable you feel on a given day: those decisions stay with you. For people living with dementia, most of the useful work is in the detail. Knowing somebody's history and the job they did. Recognising early what tends to unsettle them. Being willing to go at their pace rather than the rota's. That prevents far more distress than it costs in time. We also make a point of supporting what people can still do themselves, because losing that unnecessarily is very hard to put right and is often the thing people fear most. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Relatives are welcome at any reasonable hour. Please ring us if you would like to visit.

We at Chippendayle Lodge Residential Care Home are proud to offer a warm and welcoming residential care home in the heart of Maidstone, Kent, where compassionate support meets a genuine sense of community. Our home has been thoughtfully designed to feel like just that, a home, where every resident is treated with the dignity, kindness, and respect they deserve. Nestled within the beautiful Kent countryside, our setting offers a peaceful and restorative environment for those in our care. Residents benefit from the calm surroundings of the ME postcode area, whilst remaining well connected to the wider Maidstone community and the South East region. The comfortable interiors of our home are complemented by inviting communal spaces where residents can socialise, relax, and enjoy quiet moments alike, creating an atmosphere that feels both familiar and reassuring. Our specialisms reflect the diverse needs of the people we welcome through our doors. We provide dedicated older person care and residential care for those who require day to day support with the routines of daily living, always delivered with patience and a personal touch. Our dementia care is centred on understanding, familiarity, and gentle reassurance, helping residents to feel safe and valued whilst maintaining as much independence as possible. We also support adults living with learning disabilities and autism, tailoring our approach so that each person is truly seen and heard, with routines and communication styles that suit their individual preferences. For residents with a physical disability, we work closely with them and their loved ones to ensure that daily life remains as comfortable and enabling as possible. We are proud to welcome younger adults into our community too, recognising that quality care is never defined by age alone. Our respite care option offers a valuable lifeline for families and regular carers, providing short term stays that give everyone peace of mind, whether following a hospital stay, during a holiday, or simply when a well earned break is needed. In practice, this breadth of care means that families do not have to worry about whether their loved one's needs will change over time. Our team is experienced in adapting support as circumstances evolve, ensuring continuity, familiarity, and stability. We understand how difficult it can be to entrust the care of a family member to others, and we take that responsibility to heart every single day. From the smallest details of morning routines to the meaningful moments shared over a cup of tea, we aim to create days that feel purposeful, comfortable, and full of small joys. We are pleased to hold an overall rating of Good from the Care Quality Commission, following their latest inspection in May 2021. This rating was awarded consistently across all five key areas assessed by the regulator, meaning we were rated Good for being Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, and Well led. For families, this independent recognition offers reassurance that the standards of care, leadership, and responsiveness at our home meet the expectations set by the national regulator. We remain committed to building on these foundations, continually listening to residents, families, and our own team so that we can keep improving the experience we offer. Choosing a care home is one of the most important decisions a family can make, and we understand that it comes with many questions, emotions, and considerations. Whether you are exploring long term residential care, looking for specialist dementia support, or considering a short respite stay, we would be delighted to hear from you. Please do get in touch to arrange a visit, meet our team, and see for yourself the warmth and care that define daily life at Chippendayle Lodge Residential Care Home. We are here to listen, to guide, and to welcome you and your loved one whenever you are ready.

Dickley Court is a residential care home near Maidstone supporting a broad range of adults. Many of our residents are older people, including those living with dementia, and we also support adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, people with a physical disability, residents living with sight or hearing loss and some younger adults. That range means assessment matters. Before anybody moves in we want to be sure we can meet their needs properly and that the placement will work for them and for the people already living here, and we say so honestly when we think we are not the right place. Support is planned one person at a time. For one resident that may mean help with most of the day, including personal care and help to move safely. For another it may mean very little practical help but a good deal of structure and staff who understand how they communicate. For residents living with dementia we keep the house familiar and the staff consistent. Where there is a physical disability the right equipment is in place, and for residents with sight or hearing loss we adapt how we communicate and do not move things without saying so. Respite stays are available and give family carers a proper break. Please contact us if you would like to visit and see how the home runs.

    • Care Home

Broadmeadow is a residential care home in Folkestone, Kent, supporting older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia and people with physical disabilities. We try to run a house rather than an institution, and the difference lies mostly in small decisions. People get up when they are ready. Meals are unhurried and worth turning up for. Somebody who wants their own company can have it without being coaxed into the lounge. Help with washing and dressing is given in a way that protects dignity, which usually comes down to asking first, explaining what we are doing, and never taking over a task a person can still manage themselves. Dementia care is a significant part of our work, and the most useful knowledge almost always comes from families. What someone did for a living, who they are thinking of when the late afternoon becomes unsettled, what music helps. We ask for that, record it and pass it between shifts. Respite stays are available as well as permanent places. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please do come and look round.

    • Care Home

St Claire's Care Home in Folkestone is a residential care home for older people who need help with daily living, including many people living with dementia. We offer respite stays as well as permanent places. We are a house rather than an institution and we work to keep it feeling that way. People bring their own furniture and photographs, keep their own hours, choose where to spend the day and get help with washing and dressing at their own pace and as privately as we can manage. Meals are cooked here with real choice at each one, and food matters a great deal to how people feel about a day. Dementia care here rests on familiarity and patience. We learn a person's life story with their family when they arrive and keep adding to it, so that when words become harder we still have ways of offering comfort and recognition, and we keep the rhythm of the day predictable. We keep an eye on health without turning the place into a clinic. If somebody seems off colour we act on it early and tell families what is happening rather than waiting for them to ask.

    • Care Home

Hatfield Lodge is a residential care home in Folkestone, Kent. We provide care for older people, including people living with dementia, and we offer respite stays alongside permanent places. We are a residential home rather than a large institution, and the day here belongs to the people living in it. Some like an early start and a bit of company; others prefer a slow morning and a quiet afternoon. Our part is to make either possible, and to help with washing, dressing, medication, meals and getting about in a way that supports independence rather than replacing it. Dementia care is central to our work. We take time to learn each person's history, habits and the things that reassure them, because that knowledge is what lets staff respond to the feeling behind a difficult moment rather than simply react to the behaviour. Familiar faces, a calm environment and a predictable rhythm do a great deal of the rest. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement, and we are not going to talk around it. We know the areas that were identified, we are working through them with the whole team, and if you come to see us we will tell you honestly what has changed and what is still in hand. Families are welcome at Hatfield Lodge, and we would much rather hear a concern early than have it saved up. Please do come and visit.

    • Care Home

Tudor Lodge is a residential care home in Folkestone, and we provide a home for older people who need support with daily living. Respite stays are available too, for planned breaks and for the occasions when a family needs cover quickly. Much of what makes a care home good is unspectacular. Knowing which chair is somebody's. Getting the tea right. Not hurrying a person through a wash because the trolley is waiting. We help with personal care, dressing, medication and mobility, and we try to do it so unobtrusively that it feels like part of the day rather than a procedure, leaving as much privacy and choice with the resident as we can. Dementia care is a significant part of our work. We keep the daily rhythm and the surroundings steady, give people time to find their words, and take trouble to learn about earlier life, because knowing what somebody did for a living and what they loved tells us a great deal once language becomes unreliable. Families usually hold that story, and we ask for it early. We ought to be open with you. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We have worked through the findings with the team and those areas are where our effort sits at present. We would rather you heard it from us and then came to judge for yourself. Visitors are welcome on any ordinary day. Ring us and we will arrange a time that suits you.

    • Care Home

We at St Heliers Care Home are proud to offer compassionate residential care in the welcoming coastal town of Folkestone, Kent. Our home provides a nurturing environment where older people, younger adults, and those living with dementia can feel safe, valued, and truly at home. Set within the CT postcode area of Folkestone, our home benefits from the gentle pace and friendly community spirit that this part of the South East coast is known for. Residents and their loved ones can enjoy the calm atmosphere of our surroundings, with the wider amenities of Folkestone and the Kent coastline close at hand. We have created a homely setting where comfort, warmth, and dignity guide everything we do, allowing each person who lives with us to settle in at their own pace. Our team specialises in residential care for older people, dementia care, and support for younger adults, meaning we are able to welcome individuals with a wide range of needs and life experiences. For families considering dementia care, we understand how important it is to know that your relative is being supported by people who take time to truly understand them. Our approach is built around the individual: their history, their preferences, their routines, and the small details that make daily life feel familiar and reassuring. For younger adults living with us, we focus on supporting independence, choice, and meaningful daily activity, whilst for older residents we provide attentive personal care that respects privacy and promotes wellbeing. In practice, this means our residents are encouraged to live as fully as possible. Whether that involves quiet companionship, joining in with shared activities, maintaining hobbies, or simply enjoying a familiar cup of tea in a comfortable setting, we believe care should fit the person, not the other way around. We also recognise that families are an essential part of every resident's life, and we work in genuine partnership with relatives, keeping communication open, honest, and kind. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission, carried out in July 2022, awarded us an overall rating of Good. We were rated Good across the Safe, Effective, Caring, and Responsive domains, reflecting the everyday standards our team upholds in supporting residents. The Well-led domain was rated as Requires Improvement, and we have taken this feedback seriously as an opportunity to strengthen our leadership and governance further. Continual improvement is something we believe in deeply, and we remain committed to building on what we do well whilst addressing the areas highlighted, so that families can feel confident in the quality of care we provide. Choosing a care home is one of the most important decisions a family can make, and we understand that it often comes with mixed emotions. If you are exploring residential or dementia care options in Folkestone for someone you love, we warmly invite you to get in touch with St Heliers Care Home. We would be delighted to answer your questions, listen to your concerns, and help you discover whether our home might be the right place to call home.

Arranging and funding a dementia care home place in Stone

Few families reach this stage with the funding side already settled, and the order in which things happen tends to catch people out. The assessment comes first, the financial side follows, and only then does a contract with a particular home come into view. Knowing that sequence in advance makes the whole process markedly less bewildering.

Requesting a care needs assessment

A care needs assessment is free and open to anyone who appears to need care and support, whatever their savings. Staffordshire County Council social care team is responsible for carrying out that assessment and for arranging funded support where the national eligibility criteria are met. For someone living with dementia it is worth asking that the assessment covers night time disorientation, wandering risk, how well prompting works, and whether the person can recognise danger, because these are the factors that decide whether residential care is the right setting at all. Ask for the written outcome, as it gives you a shared description of need to put in front of every home you approach.

What the fees cover and how means testing works

Residential care is charged on a means tested basis, so a financial assessment follows and sets how much the resident pays from capital and income. Someone above the capital threshold funds the placement themselves and contracts directly with the home, which is why advertised weekly fees differ so much between providers. Homes supporting people with dementia sometimes charge a higher band for a place on a unit with greater staffing, so ask whether the quoted fee reflects the type of room and unit being offered. Get the schedule in writing, with extras such as chiropody, hairdressing and escorted appointments itemised separately, and ask what notice you would be given of any increase.

Choosing between dementia care homes in Stone

32 homes appear here, all registered for residential dementia support rather than nursing. The quality spread across them is wide enough that the shortlist you build matters far more than the length of the list itself.

Reading the ratings when the spread is this wide

Nineteen of these homes are rated Good, seven Requires Improvement, two Inadequate, and three have no published rating yet. A rating is a snapshot of one inspection on one set of days, so check the date on it and read the findings underneath rather than stopping at the word. Where a home sits at Requires Improvement, the useful question is what specifically was found and what the provider has done since, as some recover well under new management. Where a home has been judged Inadequate, treat that as a serious signal and ask directly what conditions or enforcement action apply.

What to watch for on a dementia unit

Visit more than once, and make one visit late in the day when confusion and distress typically peak. Look at whether residents are engaged in something purposeful, whether staff crouch to eye level and use the person's name, and how a member of staff handles someone who is upset while you are there. Ask how many staff are on the unit overnight, what dementia training they receive beyond induction, and how the home avoids relying on agency cover who do not know the residents. Ask too how the home records life history and preferences, because a home that genuinely works this way will be able to show you how it shapes a resident's day.

Frequently asked questions about dementia care homes in Stone

How many dementia care homes are there in Stone?

Stone has 32 CQC registered care homes that are registered for dementia care, out of 79 CQC registered care homes in Stone: 20 Good, 8 Requires improvement, 1 Inadequate, 3 not yet rated. Counts come from the CQC register and are kept up to date as ratings change.

Which dementia care homes in Stone were inspected most recently?

St Claire's Care Home (7 September 2026), Howards Residential Home (12 August 2026) and Hillbeck Residential Care Home (4 August 2026) have the most recent CQC reports.

How do I arrange a care needs assessment in Stone?

Contact the adult social care team at Staffordshire County Council and request a care needs assessment for the person who needs support. Anyone who appears to need care and support can ask, the assessment is free, and it does not depend on income or savings. An assessor will look at memory, orientation, mobility, medication, personal care and the risks of remaining at home, then confirm which needs are eligible. Ask for the written outcome, because it becomes a useful reference point in every conversation with a home.

Will Staffordshire County Council pay towards a dementia placement?

It can, provided the needs assessment identifies eligible needs and a financial assessment shows that capital and income fall within the means tested limits. Staffordshire County Council carries out both assessments and arranges the funded element where someone qualifies. Anyone with assets above the threshold funds their own placement and contracts directly with the home. A dementia diagnosis on its own does not change the means test, so it is worth asking about the financial assessment early rather than assuming the outcome.

Which homes in Stone are registered for dementia support?

32 residential care homes in this listing are registered to support people living with dementia, and each has its own profile on Care Assura. All of them provide personal care rather than nursing. The profiles carry the published inspection rating and link through to the full report behind it. Reading those reports is the fastest way to turn a long list into the two or three homes genuinely worth visiting.

What separates a dementia care home from a dementia nursing home?

A dementia care home provides personal care, which covers help with washing, dressing, eating, medication prompts and the structure of the day, delivered by trained care staff. A dementia nursing home is additionally registered for nursing, so a qualified nurse is on duty at all hours to manage clinical needs such as wounds, swallowing difficulties or complex medication. Every home on this page is registered for residential rather than nursing care. If someone has advanced dementia alongside clinical needs, or seems likely to develop them, looking at nursing registered homes can save a distressing second move later on.

When should families begin looking at dementia homes?

Start earlier than feels necessary, ideally while the person can still take part in the decision. Securing an assessment, completing a financial assessment and making two unhurried visits realistically takes some weeks, and the better regarded homes often have waiting lists. Dementia also tends to progress in steps rather than smoothly, so a sudden change can shorten your timescale without warning. Having a shortlist ready means a hospital discharge or a crisis at home does not force the choice for you.

What should I ask when I visit a dementia home in Stone?

Ask how many care staff are on duty overnight as well as by day, what the staff turnover has been, and how much agency cover is used on the dementia unit. Ask to see the latest inspection report together with the home's own written response to anything the inspector raised. Ask how the home manages distress and agitation without reaching for medication, and what dementia specific training staff complete. Request a written fee schedule, and ask to spend a few minutes looking round on your own and speaking to a visiting relative.
