- Care Home
Park Lane is a residential care home in Congleton supporting older people, including many living with dementia, and we welcome respite guests. We are a small home and everything follows from that. Staff know every resident properly rather than in outline, residents know each other, and the day moves at whatever pace the people living here set. Nobody is hurried through a morning and people eat what they actually want rather than what is easiest to produce. Dementia care is a large part of our work and we approach it patiently. We keep routines familiar, the environment calm and the staffing consistent, and we take our lead from the person rather than pulling them into our version of things. When somebody becomes distressed we treat it as something with a cause and go looking for it, whether that is pain, noise, tiredness or a need nobody has understood yet. Relatives are usually the best guide to what has always settled a person, so we ask them. We also work hard at keeping ordinary life going. Proper meals, time outside when the weather allows, music that means something and conversation that follows the person's interests rather than ours. Respite stays give family carers a genuine break. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission was good. If you would like to look round, please get in touch.

- Care Home
At Bradwell Court, we provide residential care for people in the heart of Congleton, Cheshire East. We support a wide range of needs, including older person care, dementia care, support for people living with physical disabilities, and care for those with visual or hearing impairments. We also welcome younger adults who require residential support, and we take real pride in making sure everyone who lives here feels genuinely at home. We know that choosing a care home is one of the most significant decisions a family can make, and we do not take that lightly. From the moment someone walks through our doors, whether as a prospective resident or a visiting family member, we want them to feel at ease. Our team works hard to build honest, trusting relationships with residents and their loved ones, and we believe that knowing the people in our care as individuals, rather than as a set of needs on a form, makes all the difference to the support we provide. Life at Bradwell Court is shaped around the people who live here. We listen carefully to what matters to each resident, what routines they value, what brings them comfort, and what helps them feel like themselves. For those living with dementia, this approach is especially important, and our team has the knowledge and understanding to provide thoughtful, person centred support that respects dignity at every stage. We are pleased that our most recent Care Quality Commission inspection rated us as Good, which reflects the commitment our whole team brings to their work every day. If you would like to find out more about life at Bradwell Court, or if you are considering care for yourself or someone close to you, please do get in touch. We are always happy to have a conversation and to welcome you in for a visit.

- Care Home
The Laurels Care Home is a care home in Congleton, Cheshire. We provide residential care for older people, including people living with dementia, and we offer respite stays alongside permanent places. Respite deserves more than a passing mention, because it is often what keeps a family going. Carers at home tend to carry on far longer than they should before asking for help, and by the time they do they are frequently exhausted rather than merely tired. A planned stay here gives them room to recover properly, and it gives the person staying a proper welcome rather than a fortnight of being managed. We treat short stays exactly as we treat permanent ones. For permanent residents, the day is theirs. People get up when they want, eat what they want, spend their time where they choose and see visitors when it suits. Rooms belong to the people in them. Supporting somebody with dementia is mostly about steadiness: the same faces, a recognisable rhythm and staff who understand what lies behind a repeated question. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please come and see us if you are considering care locally.

At Heliosa Nursing Home in Congleton, Cheshire East, we provide nursing and residential care for people with a wide range of needs and backgrounds. We support older adults, younger adults, and people living with dementia, learning disabilities, autism, mental health conditions, physical disabilities, and visual or hearing impairments. We also offer respite care for those who need a shorter stay, whether planned or at short notice. We are proud to hold a Good rating from the Care Quality Commission, which reflects the consistent effort our whole team puts into making sure everyone in our care feels safe, respected, and genuinely looked after. That rating matters to us, but so does the quieter, everyday work of getting to know each person properly and understanding what good care actually looks like for them individually. Dementia care is a significant part of what we do, and we take time to understand each person's history, routines, and preferences so that life here feels familiar and reassuring rather than unsettling. The same thoughtful approach applies across all of our specialisms. We recognise that people coming to us may be navigating some of the most difficult moments in their lives, and we try to make that experience as comfortable and as human as possible. We work closely with families and loved ones, keeping communication open and welcoming their involvement in care decisions wherever that is wanted. We also liaise regularly with community health professionals, GPs, and specialist teams to make sure each person receives the right level of clinical and personal support. If you are considering Heliosa for yourself or someone close to you, we warmly encourage you to get in touch or come and visit. Seeing the home for yourself and meeting the team is always the best way to get a real sense of whether we are the right fit.

Arranging and funding a dementia care home place in Congleton
Knowing who pays, and on what basis, takes a good deal of the anxiety out of the search. The order rarely changes: establish the level of need first, then the financial position, and only then compare the homes that can genuinely meet both.
Requesting a care needs assessment
Anybody who appears to need care and support can ask for an assessment, whatever their savings or income. A social care practitioner looks at memory, daily living, mobility, communication and risk, and sets out in writing what support is required. Assessments are carried out by Cheshire East Council, which is also responsible for arranging funded support for those who are eligible. Requesting one early is worthwhile even where a family expects to pay privately, because the written outcome gives an independent account of need.
Where help with fees may apply
A financial assessment follows, taking account of capital, income and property. Where savings sit below the national threshold the authority may contribute towards the weekly fee, and where registered nursing is needed a separate NHS contribution can apply. Circumstances change, so an assessment can be revisited if someone's needs increase or their capital falls.
Getting a clear picture of the cost
Weekly fees vary between homes and according to how much support someone needs, so ask every provider for a written breakdown setting out what the fee covers and what is charged on top. Hairdressing, chiropody and outings are often billed separately. Check how frequently fees are reviewed, and what happens should needs rise.
Choosing between dementia care homes in Congleton
4 residential care homes in Congleton match this search: Park Lane Residential Home, Bradwell Court Residential Care Home and The Laurels Care Home. Each is registered for accommodation and personal care rather than on site nursing, which is worth weighing against how needs are likely to develop.
Reading beyond the rating
All three hold a Good rating from the Care Quality Commission. That tells you inspectors found the home meeting the standards expected of it, but the detail sits in the report itself. Look at what was said about staffing, about how people living with dementia are supported when distressed, and about leadership. Check the inspection date too, because a home can change a great deal between visits.
Judging a home for yourself
Visit at least twice, at different hours, and include a mealtime if you can. Watch how staff speak to residents who are confused or anxious, whether people seem occupied, and how freely residents move about the building. Ask what training staff receive in dementia, how familiar routines are protected as memory changes, and how families are kept informed.
Frequently asked questions about dementia care homes in Congleton
How many dementia care homes are there in Congleton?
Congleton has 4 CQC registered care homes that are registered for dementia care, out of 6 CQC registered care homes in Congleton: 4 Good. Counts come from the CQC register and are kept up to date as ratings change.
Which dementia care homes in Congleton were inspected most recently?
Heliosa Nursing Home (11 June 2021), The Laurels Care Home (17 September 2019) and Park Lane Residential Home (6 April 2019) have the most recent CQC reports.
How do we arrange a care needs assessment in Congleton?
Contact Cheshire East Council, which is responsible for carrying out care needs assessments and for arranging funded support. The request can come from the person who needs care or from a relative acting on their behalf. There is no charge for the assessment and it does not depend on income or savings. Asking sooner rather than later helps, because the written outcome shapes which homes are suitable and what help with fees might follow.
Can Cheshire East Council pay for a dementia care home placement?
It can contribute where a person meets both the care and the financial criteria. The care needs assessment establishes the level of support required, and a financial assessment then considers capital, income and property. Where savings fall below the national threshold, the authority may meet some or all of the weekly fee. A separate NHS contribution may apply where registered nursing is required.
Which providers in Congleton offer dementia care?
4 providers match this search: Park Lane Residential Home, Bradwell Court Residential Care Home and The Laurels Care Home. All three are registered as residential care homes. Each appears in the listing on this page with its current Care Quality Commission rating and a link to its profile. The profiles carry the full inspection history, which is the most dependable way to compare them.
What is the difference between a dementia care home and a dementia nursing home?
A dementia care home provides accommodation and personal care, meaning help with washing, dressing, meals and daily routines from trained care staff. A dementia nursing home also has registered nurses on duty, so it can manage medical needs such as complex medication or care in the later stages of illness. All 4 providers listed for Congleton are registered as residential care homes rather than nursing homes. The care needs assessment should make clear which type is appropriate.
How far ahead is it sensible to start looking?
Earlier than most families imagine. Beginning while there is no immediate crisis gives you time to visit properly, read inspection reports in full and compare written fee quotations without pressure. Placements arranged urgently after a hospital admission tend to leave far less choice. Even when a move feels some way off, having an assessment and a shortlist ready is time well spent.
What should we ask when visiting a dementia care home in Congleton?
Ask how staff are trained to support people living with dementia and how often that training is refreshed. Find out what happens when a resident becomes distressed or unsettled, and how the home keeps daily routines familiar as memory changes. Check staffing levels overnight as well as by day, and ask how families are involved in reviewing care. Request a written breakdown of fees and what they include before committing.
