    • Care Home

Manson House is a residential care home at Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk. We support older people who need help with daily living, including those living with dementia, those with physical disabilities and those living with sight or hearing loss. Respite stays are available as well. What we aim for is an ordinary life with help attached rather than a routine everybody has to fit into. Residents decide when to get up, where to sit, whether they want company or quiet, and what they would like to eat. We help with personal care, dressing, medication and mobility, doing only as much as somebody actually needs, because taking over is easy and rarely helpful. Dementia care is a large part of our work, and the practical side of it is unglamorous. Keeping the daily rhythm and surroundings consistent. Giving somebody time to find their words instead of finishing their sentence. Knowing enough about a person's earlier life to understand what a worry is really about. Families hold most of that knowledge and we ask for it early. For residents with physical disabilities our attention goes to equipment that fits and transfers handled safely and without embarrassment. For those living with sight or hearing loss, unhurried communication and a well arranged environment make most of the difference. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Come and see us on an ordinary afternoon and ask us anything you like.

    • Care Home

We are a residential care home in Bury St Edmunds, providing a home for older people and younger adults who need help with daily living, including those living with dementia and people with physical disabilities. Our aim is a settled house where help is close at hand without taking over somebody's life. Residents keep their own rooms, belongings and routines as far as we can manage, and they decide how much they want to be part of whatever is happening. Where someone needs help with washing, dressing or moving about, we try to give it without hurry and without doing more of the task than is actually needed, because what a person can still manage themselves is worth protecting. Dementia care rests on knowing the person rather than following a procedure, so we ask families to tell us about working life, children, music, faith and old habits. That knowledge is worth more than any written plan when somebody is frightened or cannot place where they are. Meals are cooked here and we listen when somebody would rather have something different. Family and friends are welcome whenever they wish to come. Respite stays are available as well as permanent places. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. Please come and look round before deciding anything. We will be straight with you about whether we can meet the needs you describe.

    • Care Home

Marham House Care Home is a residential care home in Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk. We provide residential care for older people and for younger adults, including specialist support for people living with dementia, and we offer respite care for planned short stays. Moving into a care home is rarely an easy decision, and we try to make the practical side of it as calm as we can. Before someone arrives we spend time with them and with the people who know them well, because the details matter: how they take their tea, whether they are early risers, what they used to do for a living, who they want to hear from. Those things go into the way we support them rather than sitting in a file. Day to day, residents decide how they spend their time. Some enjoy the company of the communal rooms and whatever is going on; others prefer their own room and their own routine, and both are perfectly reasonable. Meals are proper meals, and we take note of what people actually like to eat. Dementia care runs through the whole home rather than being kept apart from it. We keep the environment familiar, we do not rush people, and we work with families to understand what settles someone and what unsettles them. We welcome visitors and we would far rather families felt at home here than treated as guests. If you would like to look round, please contact us and we will arrange it.

    • Care Home

Lark View is a residential care home in Bury St Edmunds supporting older people, including many living with dementia, and adults living with a physical disability. We support some younger residents and we welcome respite guests. We want the home to feel like somewhere people live rather than somewhere people are placed. Mornings are flexible, meals are proper meals, and residents choose how they spend their days. Staff take time to learn what someone actually enjoys, and to learn their history, because you cannot look after a person well if you only know them as a set of needs. Dementia care is a large part of our work and we approach it patiently. We keep routines familiar, the building calm and the staffing as consistent as we can. We follow the person rather than correcting them, and when someone is distressed we treat it as something with a cause and go looking for it. Relatives usually know what has always settled somebody, so we ask them rather than working it out the slow way. For residents living with a physical disability we pay close attention to seating, equipment and how the building works for them, since independence usually rests on practical detail. Respite guests receive exactly what permanent residents receive. If you would like to look round, please get in touch and come and see us.

    • Care Home

The Beeches Residential Home is in Bury St Edmunds. We care for older people who need support with daily living, including those living with dementia, and we also support some younger adults whose needs suit a residential setting. What we provide is help with the everyday: getting washed and dressed, medication managed properly, meals prepared here and served at a civilised pace, and staff available at any hour. Around that, people arrange their days as they wish. Some residents are in the lounge from breakfast onwards and want to know what everybody is up to. Others prefer their own room, the radio and a visitor now and then, and neither needs justifying to us. For residents living with dementia we keep the day predictable and the faces familiar, and we lean on what families can tell us about a person's history, because that is what allows us to make sense of somebody when words are difficult. Respite stays are available for anyone needing short term support, including after a spell in hospital. Families across Suffolk are welcome to visit.

The Briars is a residential care home in Sudbury, Suffolk, supporting older people including those living with dementia, people with physical disabilities and people with sight or hearing loss. Younger adults whose needs are best met in a residential setting are welcome too, and we offer respite stays. We try to run the home the way a household runs rather than the way an institution does. People get up when they are ready. Belongings, habits and opinions come with the person and stay theirs. Meals are worth sitting down to and worth having a view about. Where somebody can manage a thing themselves, we support rather than take over, even when doing it for them would be quicker. For people living with dementia, familiarity carries most of the weight. Consistent faces, a predictable shape to the day, food and music from the right part of a life, and staff who neither hurry nor correct. Families often hold the piece of knowledge that turns a hard week around, so we ask and we listen. Respite stays give a family carer a break that is genuinely a break, with proper support in place. Please come and visit on an ordinary day and see the home as it really is.

    • Care Home

We are a residential care home in Sudbury, providing a home for older people and younger adults who need help with daily living, including those living with dementia. We try to run the place so that it belongs to the people who live in it. Residents have their own rooms with their own belongings, get up and go to bed when they choose and decide how they want to spend their days. Meals are cooked here and we listen when somebody says they would rather have something else. Much of what makes a care home worth living in is small and unglamorous: being helped to wash without being rushed, a hot drink at the time you actually want it, somebody noticing when you have gone quiet and sitting down with you. Dementia care, as we have come to understand it, is mostly a matter of knowing the person. We ask families to tell us about working life, children, music, faith and old habits, because that knowledge is what allows a member of staff to reassure somebody who is frightened or cannot place where they are. Family and friends are welcome whenever they would like to come, and we would always rather a relative raised a concern straight away. Respite stays are available as well as permanent places. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. Do come and look round and ask us anything.

We also welcome younger adults whose care needs are best met within a supportive residential setting, tailoring our approach to suit individual circumstances, preferences, and aspirations. In practice, this means families can feel reassured that their loved one is supported by a team that takes time to truly know each resident. From the meals we share to the conversations we enjoy, from personal care delivered with sensitivity to meaningful daily activities, we focus on the small details that make a genuine difference. We understand that choosing a care home is one of the most significant decisions a family can make, and we are committed to being a trusted partner throughout that journey. Our most recent CQC inspection, carried out in December 2025, rated St Josephs as Good across every domain assessed. This includes Good ratings for being safe, effective, caring, responsive, and well led. For families, this consistent recognition offers meaningful reassurance that the care provided here meets the high standards set by the independent regulator, and that our team is committed to maintaining and building upon that quality every single day. If you are exploring care options for a loved one, we warmly invite you to learn more about life at St Josephs. Whether you are at the beginning of your search or ready to take the next step, our door is open, and we would be delighted to answer your questions, listen to your concerns, and help you decide whether our home is the right place for the person you love.

    • Care Home

Hillside Care Home is a residential home in Sudbury, supporting older adults and some younger adults, with permanent places and respite stays both available. We are a home for people who need help with everyday life rather than nursing care, and we try to keep the emphasis on life. That means residents choosing how they spend their time, keeping up with friends and family, having a say in what happens in the house, and being supported to do things for themselves wherever they can. Doing something for someone is often quicker. It is not usually better. A number of our residents live with dementia. We work on the basis that behaviour which seems difficult is nearly always communication of some kind, whether that is pain, confusion, boredom or fear, and that the answer starts with understanding the person rather than managing the moment. Familiar faces, a steady routine and time to respond do most of the work. Respite guests are welcomed properly rather than parked. A short stay is often someone's first experience of a care home, and we would like it to be a reassuring one. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is Good. If you are looking at homes in the Sudbury area, please come and see us. Turn up and have a look around, ask the residents what they think, and judge for yourself.

Here at Mellish House, we are a residential care home based in the heart of Sudbury, Suffolk, and we take genuine pride in the community we have built within our walls. We offer a warm, homely environment where residents feel safe, valued and truly at ease in their surroundings. We support a range of needs here, including older person care, residential care, dementia care, care for younger adults, and respite care for those who need a short term stay. Whether someone is joining us permanently or spending a brief period with us while a family carer takes a well earned break, we aim to make every person feel that this is their home, not just a place they are staying. Our approach to dementia care is something we feel strongly about. We understand how disorientating and unsettling life can become for someone living with dementia, and we work hard to create routines, spaces and interactions that bring comfort and familiarity rather than confusion. The same thoughtfulness runs through everything we do, regardless of the care need. We are pleased that our most recent Care Quality Commission inspection rated us as Good across the board. That rating matters to us, not as a badge to display, but as a reflection of the everyday work our team puts in to making life here as good as it can be for every resident. Being part of Sudbury means we are connected to a lively market town with real community spirit, and we encourage residents to maintain those local ties wherever possible. Families are always welcome here, and we believe that close involvement from loved ones makes a real difference to how settled and happy a resident feels. If you would like to find out more or arrange a visit, we would love to hear from you.

    • Care Home

Littlebourne House is a residential care home in Canterbury, Kent, caring for older people who need more support than can be managed at home. We provide permanent residential places and respite stays, and we take real care over the first few weeks, because moving into a care home is an upheaval however sensible the decision. Our residents include people living with dementia, people managing long standing mental ill health, those with physical disabilities and people with a visual or hearing impairment. That variety means the house cannot run to a single pattern, so we learn each person's routines, preferences and history and let those shape the day. Practical help with washing, dressing, medication, mobility and meals is available whenever it is wanted, and we offer it rather than impose it. If somebody can still manage a task themselves, they should, and our job is to make that possible for as long as possible. Families are part of how this house works. Visitors come at times that suit them, we keep relatives properly informed, and we would far rather hear about a small worry early than deal with a grievance later. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good, and we treat that as a standard to sustain rather than an achievement to display. If you are looking at residential care in Canterbury, please arrange a visit, meet the people who live here and ask us whatever you want to know.

The Crossings is a residential care home in Aylesbury. We support older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities, autistic adults, people with physical disabilities and people with sight or hearing loss. Respite stays are available. Supporting people with such different needs under one roof only works if nobody is treated as a category. We take each person as they come, learn how they want their day to go and build support around that. Some residents want a lot of company and occupation. Others want quiet and predictability. There is room here for both. The building is arranged so that people with reduced mobility or restricted sight can get about safely and independently, and our staff are trained in moving and handling and in supporting people who communicate differently. Where somebody uses signing, pictures or objects we learn their way rather than expecting them to learn ours. For autistic residents we keep routines stable and flag change well in advance. For people living with dementia we keep the day predictable and calm and work out what reassures that particular person, since it is rarely the same twice. We involve families and advocates as much as each person wants, hold regular residents meetings and act on what is raised. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please come and look round and talk to the people who live here.

Here at Lakeside Watermead Care Home in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, we provide nursing and residential care for a wide range of people, including older adults, younger adults, and those living with dementia, mental health conditions, physical disabilities, and visual or hearing impairments. Our aim is straightforward: to make sure every person who lives here feels genuinely comfortable, respected, and well looked after. We know that choosing a care home is one of the most significant decisions a family can make, and we do not take that lightly. From the moment someone comes through our doors, we try to understand who they are as a person, what matters to them day to day, and how we can support them in a way that feels right for them rather than simply following a set routine. Our team includes registered nurses and care staff who between them hold experience across a broad range of needs. Whether someone requires nursing support, help managing a long term condition, or simply companionship and a safe place to call home, we work together to provide consistent, attentive care. We want to be honest with the people we support and their families. Our most recent CQC inspection rated us as requiring improvement, and we have taken that feedback seriously. We are actively working through the areas identified and making real changes. We believe it is important to be open about where we are on that journey rather than gloss over it. Aylesbury is a town with a strong community feel, and we try to reflect that within our home. We welcome families to be involved, to visit, and to be part of life here. If you would like to find out more or come and have a look around, please do get in touch. We are always happy to talk.

    • Care Home

We are a residential care home in Aylesbury, providing a home for older people who need help with daily living, including those living with dementia. Our aim is an unhurried house. A good deal of care is spoiled simply by being rushed, so we try to give people the time to wash, dress and eat at their own pace, and to sit with somebody who wants to talk rather than moving straight on to the next task. Residents keep their own rooms, belongings and routines as far as we can manage, and they decide how much they want to be part of whatever is happening. Dementia care comes down to knowing the person. We ask families to tell us about working life, children, music, faith and old habits, because that knowledge is what allows a member of staff to reassure somebody who is anxious or cannot place where they are. Respite stays are available as well as permanent places. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission was requires improvement. We would rather tell you that ourselves than leave you to find it later. We are working through the points the inspectors raised, and if you are considering the home for someone close to you we will go through the report with you and answer whatever you want to ask. Please come and see the place as it really is. Talking to the people who live here will tell you more than we can.

Bridge Haven is a residential care home in Canterbury. We support older people and younger adults who need help with daily living, including people living with dementia, and we take respite bookings for families needing a short break or a little time to make longer plans. The home is run the way a household runs. People rise when they wake, keep their own furniture and photographs with them, choose how the day is spent and carry on with the routines that have always been theirs. Visitors are welcome through the day, and we would much rather relatives dropped in casually than waited for a convenient slot. Dementia care rewards patience and attention to detail, so our staff learn the particulars: the favoured chair, the time of day that is hardest, what settles somebody when they are anxious, the conversations they never tire of having. Very little of that appears in a document, but it is the substance of the work. When a person's needs are shifting we raise it early with the family rather than arriving with a decision already made. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. If you are considering residential or respite care in Canterbury, please arrange to visit. Seeing a home in person tells you far more than reading about one.

4 Trinity Court is a small care home in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire. We support adults with a learning disability and autistic adults, people with physical disabilities, older people and people living with dementia, and we offer respite stays as well as permanent places. Being small is the point. This is a house rather than an institution, and it runs at the pace of the people who live here. Shopping, cooking, laundry and looking after the place are things people take part in as much as they want to and are able to, because a home where everything is done for you quickly stops feeling like your own. Support is planned individually and reviewed properly. For some people that means help with everyday tasks and getting out into Aylesbury. For others it means a steady, predictable routine, careful attention to communication and staff who understand what causes distress and how to head it off. We work closely with health colleagues, social workers and families, and we keep the staff team as consistent as we can, because familiarity does more for people here than any programme. Respite guests are made properly welcome rather than treated as passing through, and we plan those stays in advance so nothing comes as a shock. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. Visitors are welcome to come and see how the house feels.

Adisham House is a residential care home in Canterbury, Kent. The people living here include people living with dementia, people with a learning disability or autism, people with a physical disability, people with sight or hearing loss, people managing mental health conditions and younger adults. Respite stays are available. Because the people living here need quite different things from us, support is planned with each person rather than run to one pattern. People have their own rooms, their own belongings and their own routines, and they have a real say in how their days go. We are careful about the difference between helping somebody and doing things for them, because independence is easily worn away by help that arrives in too much of a hurry. Communication is something we work at. Not everybody here uses many words, and understanding a person properly takes time, attention and a willingness to be corrected. For those living with dementia, steadiness does the most good. Familiar staff, routines that change only for a reason and patience when words are difficult. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We keep examining the things that quietly slip in any home, particularly privacy and choice. If you are considering a place or a respite stay with us, you are welcome to come and visit, meet the people who live here and ask us whatever you need to know.

    • Care Home

Bartletts Residential Home in Aylesbury provides residential care to older people and younger adults, including many residents living with dementia. We think a care home should feel like somewhere you live rather than somewhere you have been placed, and most of what we do follows from that. In practice it means flexible mornings, because not everyone wants to be up and dressed at the same hour. It means meals that people actually look forward to, cooked here and adjusted happily for anyone who fancies something else. It means keeping a person's own furniture, photographs and habits around them, so the room they sleep in is recognisably theirs. Dementia care asks for patience rather than correction. If a resident is anxious, or looking for a person or place from an earlier part of their life, we respond to the feeling rather than arguing with the facts, and we work out what will genuinely settle them. Life history matters here, and we gather it early from the people who know someone best. Families are welcome throughout the day, and we would far rather you told us when something is not right than kept it to yourself. We also offer respite stays. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.

    • Care Home

Here at Cheney House, we provide residential care for older adults in Banbury, West Northamptonshire, and we take real pride in knowing the people who live with us as individuals rather than just residents. We support people with a range of needs, including dementia, physical disabilities, and visual or hearing impairments. We also offer respite care for those who need a short stay, whether that is to recover after a period in hospital or to give a family carer some time to rest. Whatever brings someone through our doors, we aim to make sure they feel genuinely at home here. Dementia care sits at the heart of much of what we do. We understand how disorientating and frightening that journey can be, both for the person living with dementia and for their family. We work hard to create an environment that feels calm, familiar and safe, and we take time to learn about each person's history, preferences and routines so that we can offer care that feels personal rather than one size fits all. We were recently assessed by the Care Quality Commission and received a rating of requires improvement. We want to be open about that. We have listened carefully to the feedback and we are working through clear, practical steps to address the areas identified. We believe honesty with families matters, and we would rather have that conversation directly than gloss over it. Our focus right now is on getting things right, and we welcome visits from anyone who wants to see for themselves how we are progressing. If you are looking for care for yourself or a loved one, we would be very happy to show you around and have an honest conversation about whether Cheney House could be the right fit.

Here at The Ridings in Banbury, Oxfordshire, we provide residential and dementia care for older people, along with respite care for those who need short term support. We are a care home that takes its responsibility to residents and their families seriously, and we work hard every day to make sure the people living with us feel safe, comfortable and genuinely at home. We know that choosing a care home is one of the most significant decisions a family can make, and we do not take that trust lightly. Our team takes time to get to know each resident as an individual, understanding their routines, preferences and life history so that the care we provide feels personal rather than generic. For those living with dementia, this kind of relationship building matters enormously, and we focus on creating an environment that feels familiar and calm. Respite care is something we approach with the same attentiveness as long term residential care. Whether someone is joining us for a short stay to give a family carer a break, or to recover and regain confidence after a period of ill health, we want their time with us to be as positive and settled as possible. We are open about the fact that our most recent CQC inspection identified areas where we need to improve, and we are committed to acting on that feedback. We have been working through the recommendations carefully and are making real changes to how we operate. We believe in being honest with families about where we are on that journey, rather than papering over it. If you would like to visit The Ridings and see for yourself what life here looks like, we would genuinely welcome the chance to show you around and answer any questions you have.

Here at Lake House in Banbury, Oxfordshire, we offer residential and dementia care for older people, along with respite care for those who need a shorter stay. We are part of OSJCT, a not for profit organisation with a longstanding commitment to supporting older people across the region. We know that choosing a care home is one of the most significant decisions a family can make, and we do not take that lightly. From the moment someone walks through our door, whether they are moving in permanently or joining us for a short break, we want them to feel genuinely at home. That means getting to know each person properly, understanding their routines, their preferences, their history and what matters most to them day to day. Our team works hard to create an atmosphere that feels calm, friendly and secure. For residents living with dementia, we take particular care to ensure the environment and daily rhythms are supportive and familiar, helping to reduce anxiety and maintain a sense of confidence and wellbeing. Respite stays are equally important to us, and we aim to make those transitions as smooth and comfortable as possible, both for residents and for the families who care for them at home. We were proud to receive a rating of Good from the Care Quality Commission at our most recent inspection. We see that as an honest reflection of the care we provide, and we continue to look at how we can improve and develop. If you are thinking about care for yourself or someone you love, we would always encourage you to come and visit us. A conversation over a cup of tea tells you far more than any brochure can, and we are always happy to show you around and answer any questions you may have.

Willows Edge is a residential care home in Newbury providing a home for older people and for younger adults who need help with everyday life. We support people living with dementia, people with physical disabilities, and people with loss of sight or hearing. The place runs at the pace of the people living in it. Breakfast happens when somebody wakes rather than when a trolley arrives, and the day takes the shape a person wants. The care covers washing and dressing, medication, meals cooked here, mobility and the many small practical things that become difficult alone, given in a way that leaves somebody their privacy. For those living with dementia we keep the routine steady and the faces familiar. For people with loss of sight or hearing we adapt how we communicate, how rooms are lit and how we approach and announce ourselves, because those small changes decide whether a person is included or left on the edge of things. Families are welcome whenever they want to come. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places. Winchcombe Place is a residential care home in Newbury, West Berkshire. We are home to older people and to younger adults who need support with daily life, including people living with dementia, people with mental health conditions and people with physical disabilities. Residential care is what we do, and it suits a great many people better than they expect. Staff are on duty through the night as well as the day, meals are cooked here, medication is given on time, and help with washing and dressing is there for anyone who needs it. Everything else, from when you get up to how you spend the afternoon, stays with the person. Dementia care runs through much of our work. We keep the day predictable and the staff group consistent, and we take time to learn about a person's working life, family and habits, because that is what makes sense of things when memory and words begin to slip. Supporting a mixed age group takes some thought. A younger adult finding their feet again is not looking for the same week as someone of ninety, and we plan around that rather than offering everybody the same. Respite and short stays are available, for planned breaks and for recovery. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Do come and see Winchcombe Place for yourself.

We at Bush Rest Home are proud to offer dedicated residential care in the heart of Wednesbury, providing a warm and welcoming home for older people, younger adults, and those living with dementia. Nestled within the Walsall borough in the West Midlands, our home is well placed to serve local families seeking compassionate, person centred support for someone they love. Our setting within the WS postcode area means we are conveniently located for families across Wednesbury and the wider Walsall community, allowing loved ones to visit easily and remain closely involved in the daily lives of our residents. The familiar surroundings of the West Midlands provide a comforting sense of place for those who have called this area home for many years, whilst newcomers quickly find a community that feels reassuringly close knit. As a residential care home, we focus on delivering everyday support with dignity, warmth, and respect. Our specialisms in older person care, residential care, dementia care, and care for younger adults mean that we are equipped to meet a varied range of needs under one roof. For residents living with dementia, this means a calm and structured environment where routines, gentle reassurance, and familiar faces help to ease anxiety and promote a sense of security. For older residents, it means support tailored to maintain independence wherever possible, with help readily available for the tasks that have become more challenging. For younger adults in our care, we recognise the importance of meaningful daily activity, social connection, and respect for individuality at every stage of life. For families, choosing residential care is rarely a simple decision, and we understand the weight that comes with it. Our aim is to lift some of that weight by offering open communication, a genuine partnership in care planning, and the reassurance that comes from knowing your relative is somewhere they are seen, known, and valued as a person rather than simply a resident. We want to be transparent about our most recent Care Quality Commission inspection, completed on 28 November 2025, which gave us an overall rating of Requires Improvement. Within that inspection, we were rated Good for being Effective, Caring, and Responsive, reflecting the genuine warmth of our team and the quality of the day to day support we provide. The areas identified for improvement related to Safe and Well led, and we are taking this feedback seriously. A clear and focused improvement plan is in place, and we are committed to strengthening these areas so that every aspect of life at Bush Rest Home meets the high standards our residents and their families rightly expect. We believe honesty about where we are, combined with a determination to improve, is the foundation of trustworthy care. If you are exploring residential or dementia care options in Wednesbury for an older relative or a younger adult family member, we warmly invite you to get in touch. A conversation, a visit, and the chance to meet our team can often answer the questions that words on a page cannot. Whatever stage you are at in your search, we are here to listen, to guide, and to help you find the right path forward for the person you love.

Stainsbridge House is a residential care home in Malmesbury, Wiltshire. We support older people, including those living with dementia and those living with mental ill health, and we offer respite stays as well as permanent places. Most people arrive having found managing at home steadily harder, and what they are hoping for is some relief from that. Meals they do not have to plan or cook. Help on hand when washing and dressing has become a struggle. Someone who notices if they seem off colour. Company if they want it, and quiet if they do not. Residents keep running their own lives as far as they can. They choose their routines, arrange their rooms as they wish and decide how sociable to be. We encourage people to bring their own things, because familiar surroundings make the first few weeks far easier. A fair part of our work involves people living with dementia alongside long standing mental ill health, which is a combination that can see people moved from place to place. We would rather be somewhere that holds steady. Consistent staff, a predictable day and treating distress as something with a cause do most of the work. Respite stays suit family carers needing a break and people recovering from illness or a hospital stay. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. The only real way to judge a home is to stand in it, so please come and visit Stainsbridge House.

Here at Avon Court, we are a residential care home based in the heart of Salisbury, Wiltshire, and we take genuine pride in the community we have built for the people who live with us. We support a wide range of needs under one roof, including older person care, residential care, dementia care, physical disability, visual and hearing impairment, younger adults, and respite care. This breadth of experience means our team has developed real depth of knowledge, and we are well placed to support people as their needs change over time. No two residents are the same, and we work hard to make sure each person feels seen and understood, not just cared for. For those living with dementia, we know how much the environment and the relationships around a person matter. We focus on familiarity, calm routines, and meaningful connection to help people feel safe and at ease. For those who come to us for a shorter respite stay, we want that time to feel just as comfortable and personal as it would for someone who has been with us for years. Our most recent Care Quality Commission rating is good, which we are pleased about, though we see it as a reflection of everyday effort rather than something to rest on. We are always looking at how we can do things better and listening to residents and their families is central to that. Salisbury is a wonderful place to be based, and where possible we enjoy being part of the local community and bringing a sense of the wider world into daily life at Avon Court. We provide care for older people, including those living with dementia, people managing mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities and people with sight or hearing loss, and we offer respite stays. We try to run a household rather than an institution. Residents bring their own furniture and photographs, keep the routines they have always kept and decide for themselves how much they want to be part of what is going on. Nobody is walked to an activity they have not chosen. When somebody joins us we take time over their history and preferences, and we record it so that every member of staff knows it rather than only whoever did the assessment. Dementia support rests on familiarity and pace, so we keep staffing as consistent as we can, avoid unnecessary change and work out what settles a particular resident. Where sight or hearing is failing we pay attention to lighting, contrast, signage and equipment, and we check that glasses and hearing aids are actually being used and maintained, which is more often the problem than people expect. For residents with physical disabilities we look at how the building is arranged so that independence is protected where it can be. Supporting mental health needs means consistency and working alongside community teams. Meals are cooked here and residents have a say in the menu. Visitors are welcome through the day. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please come and see the home for yourself.

Tower View Residential Home is in Salisbury, and we support a wider range of people than most residential homes take on. Adults with learning disabilities and autistic people. Adults living with mental ill health. People living with dementia. People with physical disabilities and people living with sight or hearing loss. Younger adults. People in recovery from problems with alcohol or drugs. Respite stays are available too. A household like this only works if people are treated as individuals rather than as categories. Support is agreed with the person, written in terms they recognise, and reviewed as things change. Some residents need a great deal of practical help with washing, dressing, medication and mobility. Others mainly want a settled place to live, a team who do not judge, and a house that holds together when a bad week arrives. For autistic people, predictability is a need rather than a preference, so changes are explained in advance and staffing is kept consistent where we can. For people in recovery, steadiness matters more than anything we could promise. We should be open about our position. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We have worked through the findings with our team and those areas are where our effort sits at present. We would rather tell you ourselves and be asked about it. Families and professionals considering Tower View are welcome to visit and question us closely.

We provide residential care for older people, including personalised support for those living with dementia, where familiar routines, gentle reassurance, and person centred approaches help residents feel settled and understood. We also welcome adults with learning disabilities and autism, mental health needs, physical disabilities, and visual or hearing impairments, tailoring our support to each individual so that they can live as independently and confidently as possible. Our respite care option also provides valuable short term support, giving family carers the reassurance of a well earned break whilst knowing their loved one is in kind and capable hands. In practice, this means our team takes the time to get to know each resident properly, learning what matters to them, what brings them comfort, and what helps them thrive. From assistance with daily living to companionship, mealtimes, and meaningful activity, our approach is always guided by dignity, choice, and respect. We are proud to hold a Good rating from the Care Quality Commission across all five inspection domains, Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, and Well led. For families, this independent assurance is important. It reflects the standards we uphold every day and the trust that residents and their loved ones place in us. Whilst ratings tell part of the story, we believe the true measure of a home lies in the warmth of its atmosphere and the relationships built within it. Choosing a care home is one of the most significant decisions a family can make, and we understand the emotions that come with it. • Care Home

Holmwood Care Home is a residential care home in Salisbury, Wiltshire, offering a settled and comfortable place to live for older people who can no longer manage at home on their own. We provide residential care, support for people living with dementia, care for those managing a mental health condition, support for people with a physical disability, and help for residents living with a visual or hearing impairment. We also offer respite stays, which can give a family carer a genuine break or allow someone to recover after a spell in hospital. Life here is built around the people who live with us rather than around a timetable. Residents choose when to rise, where to spend their day, what they eat and how much company they want. Some enjoy a busy sitting room, others prefer a quiet corner with the paper. Both are entirely fine. Families are welcome throughout the day and we would far rather people dropped in than waited for permission. Our care staff know each resident properly, which is what allows us to notice when something is not quite right. We keep in close contact with local GPs, district nurses and other health professionals so that support is joined up. The Care Quality Commission most recently rated us good overall. We are glad of that, and we carry on looking for the small improvements that make daily life better. Do get in touch if you would like to visit and see the home for yourself.

Here at Chaxhill Hall, we are a residential care home nestled in the peaceful countryside near Westbury on Severn in Gloucestershire. The setting feels genuinely tucked away from the bustle of everyday life, and we think that sense of calm makes a real difference to the people who live here. We support a wide range of individuals, including older people, those living with dementia, people with learning disabilities or autism, those experiencing mental health difficulties, and people with physical disabilities or visual and hearing impairments. We also offer respite care for those who need a short term stay, whether to recover from an illness or to give family carers a much needed break. We know that choosing a care home is one of the most significant decisions a family can make, and we do not take that lightly. Our aim is straightforward: to make sure each person who comes through our doors feels genuinely comfortable, respected and at home. That means getting to know people properly, understanding their routines, their preferences and the things that matter to them, and building care around that rather than the other way around. We are honest about where we are. Our most recent CQC inspection rated us as requires improvement, and we have taken that seriously. We are working through the areas the inspection highlighted, and we are committed to making the changes needed to provide the standard of care our residents deserve. We would rather be upfront about that than paper over it. If you would like to find out more about life at Chaxhill Hall, or you want to come and have a look around and ask questions, please do get in touch. We are always happy to talk things through and help you work out whether we might be the right fit for you or your loved one.

We at OSJCT Willowcroft are proud to offer warm, personalised residential care in the historic city of Salisbury, Wiltshire. Nestled within a community rich in heritage and natural beauty, our home provides a welcoming haven for older people and younger adults who benefit from compassionate support in a truly homely setting. Our location in the SP postcode area of Salisbury places us within easy reach of the surrounding Wiltshire countryside, offering residents and their loved ones the calm, restorative atmosphere of the South West whilst remaining close to the amenities, cultural landmarks, and green spaces that make this cathedral city so cherished. Families visiting from across the region will find us thoughtfully situated for regular visits, walks together, and shared moments that matter. Inside, we have created an environment designed to feel like home. Comfortable communal areas encourage conversation and companionship, whilst quieter corners provide the peace some residents prefer. Every space has been shaped with dignity and wellbeing in mind, allowing those who live with us to feel safe, settled, and genuinely at ease from the moment they arrive. Our specialisms reflect the breadth of care needs we support. As a residential care home, we provide day to day assistance with the personal routines that help our residents maintain independence and self esteem. For older people, this means gentle, respectful support tailored to individual preferences and life stories. For younger adults living with us, we offer care that recognises their distinct goals, interests, and aspirations, ensuring they feel valued as individuals rather than defined by their needs. Dementia care sits at the heart of what we do. We understand how deeply a diagnosis affects not only the person living with dementia but also their family. Our approach focuses on knowing each resident as a whole person, honouring their history, their likes and dislikes, and the small comforts that bring reassurance. Familiar routines, meaningful activities, and patient, kind engagement help our residents feel grounded, whilst families are welcomed as partners in care, kept informed and involved every step of the way. We also offer respite care, which can be a lifeline for family carers who need a period of rest, recovery, or time to attend to other commitments. Respite stays at our home give guests the chance to enjoy company, nutritious meals, and thoughtful care in a safe environment, whilst their loved ones at home take a well earned pause. Many respite guests tell us they leave feeling refreshed and reconnected, and some choose to return, whether for further short stays or longer arrangements. Choosing a care home is one of the most significant decisions a family can make, and we know that trust must be earned. We are proud that our home holds an overall rating of Good from the Care Quality Commission, following the latest inspection in May 2022. This rating is reflected consistently across every domain the CQC assesses, meaning we were rated Good for being safe, effective, caring, responsive, and well led. For families, this offers meaningful reassurance that the care delivered here meets recognised national standards across every important measure, from the safety of the environment and the effectiveness of support, to the compassion of our team, our responsiveness to changing needs, and the quality of our leadership. We believe good care is built on relationships. Our team takes the time to listen, to understand, and to respond to the individual wishes of each resident and their family. Whether it is remembering how someone likes their tea, supporting a hobby that has brought joy for decades, or simply sitting quietly alongside someone during a difficult moment, we recognise that these small acts of attentiveness are what transform a house into a home. Family involvement is warmly encouraged. We understand that relatives and close friends remain an essential part of a resident's life, and we welcome visits, cel

Woodfalls is a residential care home near Salisbury supporting adults living with dementia, and we also welcome respite guests. Dementia care is what we do, and we have built the home around it. The building is calm, the layout is easy to understand, and the day has a shape that repeats reliably. Staff stay consistent so that faces are familiar, and we take our lead from the person rather than pulling them into our version of events. Correcting someone rarely helps and often distresses them. When a resident is unsettled we treat it as something with a cause. Pain, noise, tiredness, hunger, too much going on or a need that has not been understood are usually behind it, and finding the reason is the work rather than a distraction from it. Families are often our best source of information, since they know the history, the habits and the things that have always helped, and we would much rather ask them than guess. We also try hard to keep ordinary life going. Proper meals, a bit of garden, music that means something to the person, and conversation that follows their interests rather than ours. Respite stays are available and give family carers a genuine break. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission was good. If you would like to visit, please get in touch.

Serene Residential Care is a care home in Dewsbury, and we support a wide range of adults: older people, younger adults, people living with dementia, adults with a learning disability or autism, people who live with mental health conditions, and people with physical disabilities or with a visual or hearing impairment. We also take respite bookings for people who need somewhere for a short stay. Supporting such a mix of people well means resisting the temptation to run the house to one rigid pattern. Somebody in their thirties with a learning disability wants a very different week from somebody in their nineties who has lived through a great deal and now wants peace, familiar faces and a comfortable chair. We take time at the start to understand what a good day looks like for each person, and we plan their care around that rather than around our convenience. Practically, we help with washing, dressing, medication, meals, mobility and continence, at whatever level each person needs, and we bring in the district nurses, GPs and specialist teams when health needs require it. We keep a close eye on wellbeing as well as health, because low mood and boredom do as much harm as anything physical. Families and friends are an important part of life here and we encourage them to visit and stay involved. If you would like to see the home in Dewsbury for yourself, you are welcome to arrange a visit at a time that suits you.

From favourite meals to cherished routines, we believe it is these thoughtful touches that transform a care home into a place where residents can flourish. Families can take comfort in knowing that Ashworth Grange has been rated Good by the Care Quality Commission across all five inspection domains, including Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, and Well led, following our most recent inspection in December 2023. This consistent rating reflects the dedication of our team and our ongoing commitment to delivering care that meets the high standards families rightly expect. It offers reassurance that residents are supported by a home which is safe, well managed, and genuinely caring in every aspect of daily life. Tucked within the BA postcode area, our home benefits from the gentle pace and familiar surroundings that Westbury offers. Residents can enjoy the comforts of a homely environment whilst remaining close to local amenities, green spaces, and the rhythms of town life that so many families value when choosing a long term home for someone they love. As a residential care home, we support a broad spectrum of needs under one roof. Our specialisms include older person care, dementia care, mental health support, and care for adults living with learning disabilities or autism. We also welcome younger adults and those with visual or hearing impairments, recognising that every individual brings their own story, preferences, and pace. In practice, this means our team takes time to understand each resident as a person first, shaping daily routines, companionship, and personal care around what genuinely matters to them. For families, it offers the reassurance that a loved one's needs, however complex or evolving, can be met within a familiar setting by people who know them well. Day to day, our focus is on dignity, warmth, and meaningful connection. We work closely with relatives, healthcare professionals, and community partners to ensure care plans remain responsive as circumstances change. Our most recent CQC inspection, carried out on 10 December 2025, rated Westbury Lodge as Requires Improvement overall. Jubilee Villa Care Home is a residential care home in Shrewsbury, offering older people and younger adults a comfortable place to live with support always close at hand. We try to run as a household rather than an institution, with the day shaped by the people living it. We support residents living with dementia and people managing mental health conditions. In both cases the approach begins with knowing the person properly: their history, their habits, what settles them and what does not. Routines are kept familiar, changes explained in advance, and distress treated as something with a cause rather than as behaviour to be managed. Our team helps with personal care, medication, mobility and meals, and equally with conversation, company, music and fresh air for those who want them. Rooms are personalised and relatives are welcome whenever they can come. Respite stays are available for shorter periods. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is Requires Improvement. We would rather set that out ourselves than have you find it elsewhere. We understood what was asked of us, we have been working steadily through it, and we are happy to go through the detail with anyone who asks. We are a residential care home in Shrewsbury, offering a settled home to older people, including those living with dementia. We also take respite bookings, whether that is planned ahead so a family carer can have a proper break or arranged more quickly when somebody needs support for a few weeks. We try to run the place at the pace of the people who live here rather than the pace of a rota. That means people get up when they are ready, eat what they actually want and spend the day in the way that suits them. Some want company and something going on. Others would rather sit quietly with a paper. Both are perfectly reasonable ways to spend an afternoon and neither needs justifying to us. Dementia asks something particular of a care home. Familiar faces, a day that does not change shape without warning, and staff who can tell the difference between somebody being difficult and somebody being frightened or in pain. We put a lot of weight on our team knowing each resident well, because that knowledge is what makes the difference when someone cannot easily say what is wrong. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Families are welcome here and we would always rather you visited than took our word for anything. Please contact us and we will find a time for you to come and look round and meet some of the people who live here.

We at Abbey Care Direct are proud to offer a welcoming residential care home in Shrewsbury, where compassionate support meets genuine community spirit. Nestled in the historic county town of Shropshire, our home provides a comfortable base for older people and adults who benefit from a little extra help with daily living. Set within the SY postcode area of Shrewsbury, our location places residents close to the familiar surroundings of the West Midlands, with the gentle pace and green spaces that the county is so well known for. The setting has been thoughtfully arranged to feel less like an institution and more like a home, where residents can relax, socialise, and enjoy moments of quiet reflection in equal measure. Our care is shaped around the individual, and we welcome residents with a wide range of needs. We support older people seeking residential care, as well as those living with dementia, mental health conditions, physical disabilities, and visual or hearing impairment. We also extend our care to younger adults who require a supportive environment tailored to their circumstances. In practice, this means our team takes time to understand each person's history, preferences, and routines, building care plans that honour who they are rather than simply addressing what they need. For families, it brings peace of mind to know that a loved one is being supported holistically, with dignity placed at the heart of every interaction. Caring for someone living with dementia, for example, calls for patience, consistency, and a calm environment, and we strive to provide all three. For residents with sensory impairments or physical disabilities, we focus on enabling independence wherever possible, adapting our approach so that everyone can take part in daily life on their own terms. Mental health support is delivered with sensitivity and without judgement, creating space for residents to feel safe, heard, and understood. We are pleased that the Care Quality Commission has rated Abbey Care Direct as Good overall, with Good ratings across all five domains of Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, and Well led, following inspection. This independent recognition reflects the standards we hold ourselves to every day, from the way we safeguard residents and deliver effective care, to the warmth of our team, our responsiveness to changing needs, and the leadership that guides our home. Choosing a care home is one of the most important decisions a family can make, and we understand the weight that comes with it. If you are exploring options for a loved one in Shrewsbury or the wider Shropshire area, we warmly invite you to get in touch with Abbey Care Direct. We would be delighted to answer your questions, share more about our approach, and help you decide whether our home is the right next chapter for your family.

    • Care Home

Normanton Retirement Home is a residential care home in Shrewsbury, supporting older people and younger adults across Shropshire, including people living with dementia, people with mental health needs and people who have a physical disability. We should deal with the rating first. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We are not going to talk around that. Inspectors found things that were not good enough, we accept the findings rather than argue with them, and we are working through what was identified. Anyone considering the home should ask us directly what was raised and what has changed since, and expect a proper answer instead of reassurance. What we are trying to do here is what any decent residential home does: take the practical weight off somebody's shoulders so that the rest of life can carry on. Food cooked in our own kitchen that people want to eat. Personal care given calmly and in private. Medication managed properly. Warm rooms that look like somebody's own. Staff awake at night. A day with enough shape to be worth getting up for, and no obligation to join in with anything. For residents with a physical disability, the right equipment and staff who know their preferred way of being helped to move matter enormously. With dementia we work on familiar faces and a calm house rather than correction. Come and see the place at a busy time of day and judge it as it is now rather than as a grade describes it.

    • Care Home

We at The Ferns Residential Home offer a warm and welcoming residential care setting in the historic town of Shrewsbury, Shropshire, where older people can feel truly at home. Our house sits within the SY postcode area, drawing on the peaceful character of this beautiful part of the West Midlands to create a comfortable and familiar environment for every resident who joins our community. Our home has been thoughtfully arranged to feel less like an institution and more like a place where daily life can carry on with dignity, gentleness, and companionship. The Shrewsbury setting means residents benefit from the charm of a well loved county town, with its blend of green spaces, riverside walks, and traditional community feel, all of which help family members feel reassured when visiting their loved ones. We specialise in residential care for older people, and this sits at the very heart of what we do. For families, this means knowing that their mother, father, or relative will be supported with the everyday essentials of life, from personal care and nutritious home cooked meals to companionship, gentle routine, and the reassurance of trained staff being on hand around the clock. We aim to preserve independence wherever possible, whilst offering the right level of support at the right moment. Our dementia care provision is designed to bring calm, familiarity, and understanding to those living with memory loss. We recognise how worrying it can be for families when a loved one begins to experience the changes that dementia brings, and we work hard to create an environment that feels safe, predictable, and kind. Staff take time to learn each resident's life story, preferences, and small comforts, so that care feels personal rather than clinical. For those living with a physical disability, we provide support that focuses on enabling residents to do as much as they wish for themselves, whilst offering practical help where it is genuinely needed. Our approach is centred on respect and patience, helping residents to maintain their sense of identity and self worth throughout their stay with us. We also offer respite care, which can be a lifeline for family carers who need a short break, are recovering from illness themselves, or simply want reassurance that their loved one is well looked after whilst they take time to rest. Respite stays with us are welcomed with the same warmth and attention as longer term arrangements, and many families find that a short stay helps them plan more confidently for the future. Our most recent CQC inspection, carried out in April 2022, resulted in an overall rating of Requires Improvement. We believe in being open about this. Within that inspection we were rated Good for being Safe, Good for being Caring, and Good for being Responsive, which reflects the compassion, attentiveness, and person centred approach that our team brings to daily life at the home. The areas rated as Requires Improvement, Effective and Well led, are ones we take seriously, and we continue to focus on strengthening these aspects so that families can feel increasingly confident in the standard of care we provide. We welcome honest conversations with prospective residents and their loved ones about the progress we are making. Choosing a care home is one of the most important decisions a family can make, and we understand the mixture of emotions that comes with it. If you are exploring options for a parent, partner, or relative in the Shrewsbury area, we would be delighted to hear from you. Please feel free to get in touch to arrange a visit, ask questions, or simply talk through what your loved one might need. We are here to listen, to guide, and to offer a home where kindness and dignity come first.

    • Care Home

Landona House is a residential care home in Shrewsbury in Shropshire. We provide a home for older people who need support with daily living, including people living with dementia, and we offer respite stays for those needing care for a short period or whose usual carer needs a break. Moving into a care home is a considerable step, and the early weeks count for far more than any description of the building. We use them to learn about the person rather than to fit them into our routine. What they did for a living. What they will not be talked into eating. What time breakfast has always been. Whether they would sooner have company or the door shut and the radio on. Small facts, and between them they are most of what turns a room into somewhere that feels like home. Dementia care rests on patience and a recognisable day. We avoid surprising people, we keep routines familiar, and when somebody is distressed we look for the cause instead of simply trying to settle them. Relatives often know exactly what helps, and we would much rather be told at the start. The rest of the day belongs to the people living it, and we take the practical side seriously too: food worth eating, medication handled carefully, prompt attention when somebody is unwell. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall, and we keep asking what needs to change.

    • Care Home

Cliffdale Rest Home is in Shrewsbury, and we provide residential care for older people who need support with daily living, along with respite stays for those who need somewhere for a shorter time. We aim to run a home rather than an institution, and most of that comes down to ordinary detail. What time you like to get up. Whether you want company at meals or would rather read the paper in peace. Which programmes you never miss and which chair is yours. We help with washing, dressing, medication and mobility, and we do it in a way that keeps as much privacy and as much choice with the person as possible. Where someone can still do something themselves, we leave them to it. Dementia care is a significant part of our work. We keep the daily rhythm and the surroundings steady, we give people time rather than hurrying them along, and we take trouble to learn about a person's earlier life, because that knowledge is what helps us understand a mood or a repeated question. Families usually hold that story, and we ask for it. Respite bookings are planned with as much care as permanent moves, since a break is only genuinely restful if the person at home has settled. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Come and see us on an ordinary day, have a cup of tea, and ask us anything at all.

Here at Epworth Grange, we are a care home based in Bury, providing a warm and settled environment where older people can feel genuinely at home. We support residents across a range of needs, including residential care, dementia care and respite care, so whether someone is joining us for a short stay or making Epworth Grange their permanent home, we do our best to make the transition as smooth and comfortable as possible. We know that choosing a care home is one of the biggest decisions a family can make, and we do not take that trust lightly. Our team takes time to get to know each resident as an individual, understanding their routines, preferences and the things that matter most to them. Good care, in our view, comes from genuinely listening and then acting on what you hear. Our approach to dementia care is something we feel strongly about. We work to create an atmosphere that feels calm and familiar, helping residents maintain a sense of identity and wellbeing even as their needs change over time. For those coming to us for respite, we aim to offer the same level of attentiveness and warmth that a permanent resident would receive, because a short stay should still feel like a positive experience. We are pleased that our most recent Care Quality Commission inspection rated us as Good, and we see that as recognition of the everyday effort our team puts in rather than a reason to stand still. We continue to look at how we can improve and respond to feedback from residents and their families. If you would like to find out more about life at Epworth Grange or come in for a look around, we would be very happy to welcome you and have a conversation about how we might be able to help.

    • Care Home

We at Limefield Court Retirement Home are proud to offer compassionate residential care in the welcoming town of Bury, in the heart of the North West. Our home provides a comfortable, homely setting where older people and adults with a range of care needs can feel truly settled, safe, and valued. Nestled within the BL postcode area, our location offers residents the reassurance of a familiar community whilst benefiting from a peaceful residential atmosphere. Bury itself is known for its warm local character, and our home reflects that same spirit, creating an environment where residents can enjoy their daily routines with dignity, comfort, and a genuine sense of belonging. Families visiting loved ones will find us conveniently placed within the local area, making regular visits straightforward and stress free. Our care team supports a broad spectrum of needs, offering residential care for older people alongside specialised support for those living with dementia, mental health conditions, or physical disabilities. We also welcome younger adults who require tailored care, and we offer respite stays for those needing shorter term support, whether following a hospital stay, during a family carer's break, or as a gentle introduction to residential life. In practice, this breadth of specialism means that residents receive care shaped around who they are as individuals, not simply the label of a condition. For someone living with dementia, this means calm routines, familiar faces, and gentle encouragement to engage in meaningful moments throughout the day. For someone managing a mental health condition or physical disability, it means thoughtful support that promotes independence wherever possible, with staff on hand to assist with dignity and warmth. For families, it means the reassurance of knowing that a loved one is in a setting equipped to adapt as needs change over time, avoiding the upheaval of moving between different homes. Respite care at Limefield Court is designed to feel just as personal as longer term stays. We understand that inviting a loved one into a new environment, even briefly, is a significant decision, and we aim to make the experience smooth, comforting, and genuinely restorative for everyone involved. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission awarded us an overall rating of Good, reflecting the standard of care we strive to deliver every day. Inspectors rated us Good across the Safe, Effective, Caring, and Responsive domains, recognising the safety of our environment, the effectiveness of the support we provide, the warmth of our team, and our ability to respond to the individual needs of those in our care. The Well led domain was rated as Requires Improvement, and we take that feedback seriously as an opportunity to strengthen leadership and governance whilst continuing to build on the many strengths identified across the rest of our home. For families, a Good rating offers meaningful reassurance. It reflects a home where residents are looked after with kindness, where their wellbeing is prioritised, and where care is delivered thoughtfully and consistently. It also reflects a team committed to continual improvement, listening carefully to residents, relatives, and professionals to keep raising the standard of everyday life within our home. We recognise that choosing a care home is one of the most personal and emotional decisions a family can make. There are often many questions, uncertainties, and worries along the way, and we want you to know that we are here to help you every step of the journey. Whether you are exploring options for a parent, partner, sibling, or yourself, we would be delighted to welcome you to Limefield Court to see our home for yourself, meet our team, and get a genuine feel for the atmosphere we have created here in Bury. Please do get in touch to arrange a visit or to have an initial conversation about how we might support you and your loved one.

Walshaw Hall provides residential care in Bury for older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia, people with physical disabilities and people who have sight or hearing loss. We also take planned respite stays. We try to make this feel like a home rather than somewhere people have been placed. Residents get up when they want, spend their days as they choose, keep their own belongings about them and have visitors whenever it suits them. Our staff help with personal care, medicines, meals and the practical running of the place, and they do it in a way that leaves people as much say as possible over their own lives. The small things are what residents notice. A familiar face on shift, tea made the way you like it, being asked rather than told, and somebody spotting that you are not quite yourself today. For residents living with dementia, and for anybody with sight or hearing loss, that familiarity matters far more than any programme of organised activity. Where somebody has a physical disability, we agree together how they want to be helped. Respite stays give family carers a genuine rest, and they let somebody find out what we are like before making a bigger decision. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We ask residents and relatives regularly how we are doing.

We are a residential care home in Bury supporting adults with a broad range of needs. People come to us in very different circumstances, and rather than offer one narrow kind of care we try to understand what a particular person needs in order to live comfortably and with some say over their own day. We support older people who need help with personal care, mobility and daily life, and people living with dementia, where consistency of staff and routine matters more than anything else. We support adults with a learning disability and autistic adults, and younger adults for whom a smaller household works better than a large one. We also support people living with mental health needs, people with a physical disability and people with a visual or hearing impairment, and we work with people recovering from problems with alcohol or drugs, which asks for patience and an absence of judgement. Respite stays are available, giving families a planned break or letting someone try the home before any longer decision is made. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We would far rather hear about a problem early and directly, so we ask residents and relatives regularly and we act on what they tell us. Arranging and funding a dementia care home place in Bury

The support these homes are registered to provide

Dementia changes what somebody needs help with, and it changes it repeatedly. The 109 providers on this page are registered as residential care homes, offering personal care such as help with washing, dressing, medication, meals and moving about, with staff on the premises at all hours. Nursing sits outside that registration and requires a home with registered nurses on duty. Because dementia can bring clinical needs alongside the everyday ones, especially in its later stages, it is worth establishing which registration a person requires before spending time on visits.

Reading the inspection picture

Among these homes the ratings recorded are Good, Requires Improvement and Inadequate, with some services carrying no rating yet because they registered too recently to have been inspected. Use the word as a way of ordering a long list rather than as a verdict on whether a home will suit one particular person, and check the date it was awarded, since a home can change hands and change entirely between visits from inspectors. The report underneath is where the detail lives. For dementia in particular, look at what was written about staffing levels, how the home responds when someone becomes distressed, whether restraint or medication is relied upon, and whether people appeared genuinely occupied.

What a visit shows that paperwork cannot

Go at an awkward hour rather than a convenient one, and stay through a mealtime if you can. Watch whether staff crouch to speak at eye level, whether they use the person's name, and how they respond to a question asked for the fourth time. Ask how long the senior carers have been in post and what proportion of shifts a normal week is covered by agency staff, because a familiar face is worth more to someone with memory difficulties than any amount of new carpet. Look at whether the building helps or hinders: clear sightlines, signage that makes sense, somewhere safe to walk. Ask what happens when a resident wants to go home, and listen carefully to the answer.

Choosing between dementia care homes in Bury

Requesting an assessment of need

Anyone who appears to need care and support may ask for an assessment, and it is carried out by Bury Metropolitan Borough Council Adult Social Care as the authority responsible for assessing need and agreeing funded support. It is free, does not depend on savings, and can be requested by the person concerned, a relative or a professional such as a general practitioner. The practitioner will go through daily living, mobility, medication, nutrition and safety, and will want to understand what relatives have been managing. Carers may request an assessment in their own right, which is worth doing where the strain at home has been building for some time.

Fees, contributions and the extras

Money is settled by a process separate from need. Once a residential placement is agreed as appropriate, a financial assessment of income and capital determines what the person contributes towards the weekly fee and whether public funds meet any part of it. Fees differ between the homes listed here according to the room, the staffing and the level of support required, so ask each one for a written schedule and establish what falls outside it, since hairdressing, chiropody and transport are routinely charged on top. Where a property is owned but cannot be sold quickly, ask Bury Metropolitan Borough Council about a deferred payment arrangement.

Frequently asked questions about dementia care homes in Bury

How many dementia care homes are there in Bury?

Bury has 109 CQC registered care homes that are registered for dementia care, out of 244 CQC registered care homes in Bury: 76 Good, 25 Requires improvement, 2 Inadequate, 6 not yet rated. Counts come from the CQC register and are kept up to date as ratings change.

Which dementia care homes in Bury were inspected most recently?

Meadow View Residential Care Home (30 September 2026), Littlebourne House Residential Care Home (29 September 2026) and The Beeches Residential Home (28 September 2026) have the most recent CQC reports.

Which homes in Bury are listed as offering dementia care?

109 residential care homes registered with the Care Quality Commission match this search, and each has a profile you can open from this page. Vacancies change from week to week, so a home shown here may have nothing available when you telephone. Narrowing the field by rating and location before ringing round will save a good deal of time. Every profile carries the inspection history, so most of the comparing can be done in advance.

What should I ask when visiting a dementia care home?

Ask how long the senior carers have been in post and how many shifts in a typical week are covered by agency staff, because familiar faces matter enormously. Ask what the home does when a resident becomes distressed or wants to leave, and how often medication is used in those situations. Ask to see the most recent inspection report and then ask the manager what has changed since it was written. Try to be there at a mealtime, since half an hour in the dining room shows you more than any tour.

How does a dementia care home differ from a dementia nursing home?

Every provider on this page is registered as a residential care home, which covers personal care such as help with washing, dressing, medication and meals. A nursing home carries a further registration and keeps registered nurses on duty, which is what someone needs for wound care, injections, a feeding tube or clinical observation overnight. As dementia advances, clinical needs sometimes develop that a residential home cannot meet, and a move may become necessary. Asking a home how it handles changing needs, and at what point it would no longer be able to care for someone, is worth doing at the outset.

Will Bury Metropolitan Borough Council fund a dementia care home placement?

It may, where the care needs assessment concludes that a residential placement is the right way to meet the person's needs. A financial assessment of income and capital then establishes their contribution towards the weekly fee and whether public funds cover any remainder. Some people are funded in full, others meet part of the cost, and others pay privately throughout. Where a home is owned but not readily sold, ask Bury Metropolitan Borough Council about a deferred payment agreement.

How do I arrange a care needs assessment in Bury?

Contact Bury Metropolitan Borough Council and ask for an adult social care needs assessment, which the person themselves, a relative or a professional such as a district nurse may all request. It is free of charge and no savings threshold has to be crossed beforehand. A practitioner will talk through washing, dressing, mobility, medication, eating and the support the family is already giving. If you are the carer, ask for a carer's assessment at the same time, particularly where the situation at home has become difficult to sustain.

How early should families start looking?

Begin sooner than feels necessary, because the needs assessment, the financial assessment and any funding decision each take time before a placement can be confirmed. Homes with good reputations frequently keep waiting lists, and rooms available at short notice are not always in the places you would choose. Dementia also tends to move in steps rather than smoothly, so a situation that seems stable can change within weeks. Visiting three or four homes while there is no pressure makes a later decision considerably easier to face.
