- Care Home
Roslyn House is a residential home in Wadebridge supporting adults living with mental health conditions. The people who live here are mainly younger adults, and the emphasis is on recovery and independence rather than simply being looked after. Living somewhere stable makes an enormous difference to mental health. We provide that stability along with practical support: help with medication, help to keep on top of appointments, encouragement with cooking, budgeting and everyday household tasks, and someone to talk to when things feel difficult. We work alongside community mental health teams, and we take the view that the person themselves should be leading their own plan wherever possible. We also offer respite stays, which can give someone a period of structure and support at a point when managing elsewhere has become hard going. We want to be honest about our current position. The most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We accept that judgement, we have looked closely at what inspectors found, and putting those things right is where our attention is going. Anyone considering the home is welcome to ask us directly about the findings and about what has changed since. If you or someone you support is looking for a place in this part of Cornwall, please get in touch and we will tell you plainly whether we think we can meet the need.

- Care Home
At Hembury Fort House, we provide residential care for older people in the heart of Honiton, Devon. Our home supports people with a range of needs, including dementia care, physical disability, and shorter term respite stays for those who need a little extra support while recovering or giving family carers a well earned break. We are proud to have been rated Good by the Care Quality Commission, which reflects the genuine effort our team puts into making life here comfortable, meaningful, and as individual as each person we support. We take that rating seriously, not as something to rest on, but as a reminder of the standard we hold ourselves to every day. What matters most to us is that the people who live here feel at home. That means knowing how someone takes their tea, what music lifts their mood, and when they simply want a quiet moment. Good care is built from those small things, and we never lose sight of that. Dementia care sits at the heart of much of what we do, and we approach it with patience, consistency, and a genuine understanding of how it feels to live with memory loss, both for the individual and for those who love them. We work closely with families throughout, keeping communication open and honest from the very beginning. For those joining us on a respite basis, we want the experience to feel as settled and reassuring as possible, even for a short stay. We know it can feel like a big step, and we do our best to make the transition straightforward. If you are considering care for yourself or someone close to you, we would always encourage you to come and visit us in person. There is no better way to get a feel for whether Hembury Fort House might be the right place.

We at Harbour House are proud to offer a warm and welcoming residential care home in the coastal town of Bridport, Dorset, where older people receive dedicated support in a setting that truly feels like home. Our community has been thoughtfully created to combine comfort, companionship, and expert residential care. Nestled within the DT postcode area, our home benefits from the gentle charm of West Dorset, with the character of Bridport close at hand and the beautiful south coast nearby. The surroundings offer a peaceful backdrop for daily life, whilst the local town provides a familiar sense of place for residents who have long called this part of the country home. Inside, we have created spaces that feel calm, homely, and easy to navigate, encouraging residents to relax, socialise, or enjoy quieter moments as they wish. Our specialism lies in older person care, delivered through both long term residential arrangements and shorter respite stays. For families, this means peace of mind that a loved one is receiving compassionate, person centred support tailored to their individual needs, preferences, and life story. For residents, it means being cared for by a team who take the time to understand what matters most to them, whether that is maintaining daily routines, staying connected with family, pursuing familiar hobbies, or simply enjoying a good conversation over a cup of tea. Our respite offering is particularly valued by families who need trusted, temporary care, whether following a hospital stay, during a family holiday, or as a gentle introduction to residential life. We are immensely proud to hold an Outstanding overall rating from the Care Quality Commission, following our most recent inspection. This recognition reflects the dedication of our team and the quality of daily life within our home. Inspectors rated us as Outstanding for being Caring, Responsive, and Well led, alongside Good ratings for being Safe and Effective. For families exploring their options, this independent assessment offers meaningful reassurance that our home is not only meeting expected standards but going above and beyond in the areas that shape a resident's everyday experience, from the kindness shown by staff to the way we listen, adapt, and lead with purpose. Choosing a care home is one of the most important decisions a family can make, and we understand the care, thought, and emotion involved. If you are considering residential or respite care in Bridport for yourself or a loved one, we warmly invite you to get in touch, ask questions, and discover whether Harbour House might be the right place to call home. We are here to help, to listen, and to welcome you whenever you are ready.

- Care Home
Little Croft Care Home is a residential care home in Bristol, providing a settled home for older people who need support with daily living. We are not a large place, and that shapes how things feel. Staff know everybody here properly, which means they notice when somebody is a bit off colour, a bit quieter than usual, or simply in the mood for company. Residents get up when they wake, eat when they are hungry and spend their days as they choose, while we look after the things that have become difficult, from personal care and medication to meals and laundry. A number of the people living with us have dementia. What helps there is consistency, unhurried time and knowing enough about someone's life to be genuine company. Relatives tell us plenty about the person before they arrive, and that knowledge does far more good than anything else we could put in place. We also offer respite stays, whether a family carer needs a planned break or someone needs looking after for a few weeks after being unwell. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We are pleased with it, though what counts more is what residents and families tell us week by week. If you would like to see Little Croft, please ring and arrange a visit. Come and look round, meet the staff and ask whatever you want to ask.

We at Breage House are proud to offer a warm and welcoming residential care home in the heart of Helston, Cornwall, where compassionate support and a true sense of community come together for every person who calls our home theirs. Nestled within the beautiful Cornish countryside in the TR postcode area, our setting offers residents the gentle pace and natural beauty that this corner of the South West is so well loved for. Helston itself is a historic market town with a rich local character, and our location allows residents and their families to enjoy the peaceful surroundings whilst remaining connected to the wider community. The familiar Cornish landscape provides a calming and reassuring backdrop to daily life, something that families often tell us brings them great comfort when choosing care for their loved ones. Our home has been thoughtfully developed to support a diverse range of needs, and we take pride in offering specialised care across several important areas. We provide residential care for older people, including those living with dementia, and we also welcome younger adults, individuals with learning disabilities or autism, and people with physical disabilities. In practice, this means our team is experienced in adapting to each person as an individual rather than expecting them to fit into a single mould of care. Whether a resident needs gentle reminders and reassurance throughout the day, support with personal care, encouragement to engage in meaningful daily activities, or assistance with mobility, our approach is always centred on dignity, respect and genuine human connection. For families, this breadth of expertise offers real reassurance. We understand that placing a loved one into care, whether for an older relative living with dementia or a younger adult with complex needs, is one of the most significant decisions a family can make. Our aim is to ease that journey by creating an environment where residents feel safe, understood and valued. We work in partnership with families, keeping communication open and welcoming involvement in care planning, so that those who matter most remain closely connected to the daily life of their loved one. The Care Quality Commission, the independent regulator of care in England, has rated Breage House as Good overall. This rating reflects positively across the key areas of being safe, effective, caring and responsive, all of which were rated Good at our most recent inspection in October 2018. We were identified as Requires Improvement in the area of being well led, and we view this honestly as a meaningful point of focus, with ongoing commitment to strengthening leadership and governance so that the quality our residents experience day to day is matched by the systems that support it. We believe transparency about our rating is important, because families deserve a clear and truthful picture when making such a personal choice. If you are exploring care options for someone you love, we warmly invite you to learn more about Breage House. Whether you are at the very beginning of your search or ready to take the next step, our door is open, and we would be delighted to talk with you about how we might support your family during this important chapter.

- Care Home
Old Dairy is a small residential care home in Nailsworth, Gloucestershire, supporting adults with a learning disability and autistic adults. Being small is the point of the place. Everybody who lives here is known individually, and staff notice quickly when somebody is not themselves. This is a home rather than a placement. People keep their own belongings, choose how their room looks, decide what they eat and how they spend a weekend, and get on with life in the way anybody would. Support is built around the individual, which for some means practical help with personal care, medication and appointments, and for others means structure, confidence and having somebody reliable nearby while they do things for themselves. We put a great deal of our effort into communication, because most distress begins with somebody not being understood. Some people here use speech, others use signs, symbols or their own established ways of making themselves clear, and learning those is our responsibility rather than theirs. Routines stay predictable, change is flagged well in advance, and we act on the early signs that a day is heading the wrong way. Being part of the town matters too, so people use local shops, clubs and groups and see family as often as they choose. We also offer respite stays for people living at home whose families would benefit from a break. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Anyone considering a placement is welcome to visit.

- Care Home
Mallands Residential Care Home is in Newton Abbot in Devon. We provide a home for older people who need support with daily living, including people living with dementia and people with physical disabilities, and we offer respite stays for those needing care for a short period. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us outstanding overall. We are genuinely pleased with that and careful with it too, because a rating describes one particular week and everything that earned it has to carry on happening afterwards. What sits behind it is fairly ordinary. We spend the first weeks learning about a person rather than fitting them into our routine. What they did for a living, what they will not be persuaded to eat, what time breakfast has always been, whether they would rather have company or the door shut and the radio on. Those details are most of what makes a room feel like home. Dementia care here rests on patience and a recognisable day. We avoid surprising people, we keep routines familiar, and when somebody is distressed we look for the cause rather than simply trying to settle them. Relatives usually know what helps and we want to be told. We also take complaints seriously, which sounds minor and is not. Most of what we have improved here began with somebody saying plainly that something was not good enough. Please come and see us and ask us anything you like.

Apple Orchard is a residential care home in Newnham, Gloucestershire, supporting adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, with respite stays available alongside longer term places. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. We are a small household rather than a large facility, and that is what allows us to build support around individuals. People decorate their own rooms, choose what goes on the weekly shopping list and decide how they want to spend their time. Some of the people living here have jobs, college places or voluntary work. Others prefer the rhythm of home, the garden and regular trips out to places they know well. Both are perfectly good ways to live and neither needs defending. Where someone communicates in their own particular way, we learn it properly and write it down so that nobody has to guess. Where a person finds change unsettling, we plan ahead, explain what is coming and avoid unnecessary disruption to their week. Where there are risks, we think them through openly with the person and their circle rather than simply saying no. We work alongside families, social workers and health colleagues, and we are willing to be the awkward voice in a meeting when we think someone is not getting what they need. If you would like to come and see the house, meet the team and talk about whether we might suit, please get in touch and we will arrange a visit.

We are Elizabeth House, a residential care home in Poole. We support older people and younger adults, including those living with dementia, people with a physical disability and people with a visual or hearing impairment, and we offer respite stays. Residential care means helping with what has become hard work and leaving everything else in the hands of the person. Washing and dressing, meals, medication, getting about safely, and the ordinary company that makes a day worth having. For health needs beyond our registration we work with district nurses and GPs rather than stretching to cover them, and we tell families plainly where that line falls. Where dementia and a sensory impairment sit together, which is common, we check the simple explanation first. A hearing aid that has stopped working accounts for a great deal that would otherwise be recorded as confusion, and a room somebody cannot make sense of will unsettle anyone. We would rather get the environment and the communication right before drawing conclusions about the person. For residents with a physical disability the practical details matter most: enough time that nothing is rushed, equipment set up properly, and asking the person how they prefer things done rather than assuming. Respite guests are assessed and welcomed exactly as permanent residents are, whether they are recovering from illness or giving a family carer a break. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.

Lyndale is a residential care home in Bournemouth supporting adults living with mental health conditions, with respite stays available as well as permanent places. We are a house rather than a unit, and that distinction matters to us. Stability usually grows out of ordinary daily life rather than out of being closely managed, so people here have their own room, their own routine and a real voice in how the house is run. Our job is to be reliable and to know people well. That means staff who notice when something is shifting before it becomes a crisis, support with medication and appointments that is dependable without being overbearing, and practical help with cooking, budgeting and giving a week some structure so that independence is something a person can actually use. Some of the people we support are working towards a place of their own and we plan for that in detail rather than leaving it as a distant idea. Others need somewhere settled for longer, which is an equally good outcome. We work closely with community mental health teams and social workers. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.

The Old Rectory has been shaped to feel like a true home rather than an institution, offering communal spaces for shared activities and quieter corners for those who prefer time to themselves or with visiting family. Our specialism lies in residential care for younger adults, including those living with a learning disability or autism, alongside flexible respite care for families who need short term support. In practice, this means we take time to truly understand each person who comes to live with us. We work closely with residents, their relatives and other professionals to build a way of living that reflects individual routines, communication preferences, sensory needs and personal goals. For families, this approach offers genuine reassurance that their loved one is seen as an individual first, with care shaped around them rather than the other way around. Respite stays are equally important to us. Whether a family carer needs a planned break, time to recover from illness, or simply a chance to rest, we aim to make short stays feel settled, sociable and stress free, with the same warmth and consistency we offer our permanent residents. The Old Rectory has been rated Good by the Care Quality Commission across every area assessed, including Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well led, following its most recent inspection. For families, this consistent picture is meaningful. It reflects a home where people feel safe, where staff are skilled and attentive, where kindness sits at the heart of daily life, where care adapts as needs change, and where leadership supports the whole team to do their best work. Choosing a care home is one of the most important decisions a family can make, and we understand the care, thought and sometimes worry that goes into it. If you are exploring options for a loved one in Axminster or the wider Devon area, we warmly invite you to get in touch, ask questions and arrange a visit. We would be delighted to show you around, listen to your story and talk through how life at The Old Rectory could offer comfort, confidence and a real sense of belonging.

- Care Home
We are a residential care home in Bodmin, caring for older people including those living with dementia and those with mental health needs. Cornwall is a place where people tend to have long roots, and many of those living here have spent their whole lives in the county. We think that matters. Knowing where someone worked, which village they grew up in and who used to visit on a Sunday gives us far more to work with than a list of tasks ever could, particularly when memory becomes unreliable. Our dementia care is built on calm and consistency. We keep surroundings familiar, avoid unnecessary change and train our team to respond to the emotion behind what someone is saying rather than correcting the detail. Distress usually has a cause, and finding it is part of the job. For people with mental health needs, we offer a steady routine, support with medicines and appointments, and staff who neither fuss nor withdraw when someone is struggling. We also offer respite stays, which give family carers a proper break and give the person staying a change of company and scenery. Short stays are planned as carefully as permanent ones. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Choosing a home for someone you love is difficult, and we would encourage anyone considering us to visit more than once, at different times of day, and to talk to the people who live here.

Ashleigh House is a residential care home in Taunton. We support adults with learning disabilities, autistic adults and people with physical disabilities, including younger adults, and we offer respite stays. This is a house run with the people who live in it rather than around them. Residents choose how their rooms look, what they eat, how they spend their time and what part they play in the household. Cooking, shopping and laundry are things people do with support where they can, because independence grows out of doing things rather than being told about them. Practical detail matters a great deal here. The building is arranged so that people with reduced mobility can get about safely and independently, and our staff are trained in moving and handling and in the equipment people rely on. Getting that right is the difference between somebody being able to get up and out when they choose and having to wait. We plan support around what each person wants from their life. That might be help with cooking and managing money, support to keep a college place or a job, assistance to travel independently, or somebody alongside on a difficult day. For autistic people we pay close attention to sensory needs and give notice of change well in advance. Communication takes different forms here and we learn each person's, whether speech, signing, pictures or objects. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please get in touch if you would like to visit.

We at Tramways are proud to offer a welcoming residential care home in the heart of Newquay, Cornwall, where compassionate support meets the relaxed charm of the south west coast. Our home provides specialist residential care for adults, including those with learning disabilities and autism, in a setting designed to feel like home from the moment you arrive. Nestled within the Newquay community in the TR postcode area, our home benefits from the gentle pace and coastal character that this part of Cornwall is loved for. Residents can enjoy the familiar rhythms of local life whilst living in surroundings that are calm, comfortable and thoughtfully arranged to support both independence and wellbeing. The wider community, with its shops, seafront and green spaces, offers plenty of opportunity for meaningful outings and everyday moments of pleasure. Our specialisms in residential care, learning disability and autism support, and respite care mean that we understand the individual nature of every person who comes to live with us. For residents with a learning disability or autism, this translates into consistent routines, communication approaches tailored to each individual, and support that recognises personal preferences, sensory needs and aspirations. We work alongside families to build a picture of the whole person, so that daily life feels reassuring, purposeful and genuinely their own. For those seeking respite care, whether to give a family carer a well earned break or to provide a supportive stay following a period of illness, we offer the same warmth and attention as we do to our longer term residents. Families can feel confident that their loved one is in a safe, familiar environment, receiving thoughtful care whilst enjoying the company of others. We are proud that our home has been rated Good overall by the Care Quality Commission at its most recent inspection, with Good ratings across all five key areas: safe, effective, caring, responsive and well led. This independent recognition reflects our ongoing commitment to providing dependable, kind and person centred care. For families weighing up what matters most, a consistent Good rating across every domain offers meaningful reassurance that the fundamentals of quality care are being met day in and day out. Choosing a care home is one of the most important decisions a family can make, and we understand the mixture of hope, worry and love that comes with it. If you are exploring residential or respite care in Newquay for yourself or someone dear to you, we warmly invite you to get in touch, ask questions and discover whether our home could be the right next chapter. You are welcome here, and so is your loved one.

Here at Red House, we provide residential care for a range of people in the heart of Cinderford, Gloucestershire. Our home supports older adults, younger adults, people living with a learning disability or autism, and those experiencing mental health difficulties. We also offer respite care for people who need a short break or additional support at certain points in their lives. We are proud to have been rated Good by the Care Quality Commission, which reflects the effort our whole team puts into making Red House a place where people feel genuinely at home. That rating matters to us, but what matters more is that the people living here feel safe, respected, and listened to every single day. Care is not one size fits all, and we do not treat it that way. We take time to get to know each person, understanding their routines, preferences, and the things that bring them comfort or joy. Whether someone is with us long term or staying for a shorter period of respite, we want their time at Red House to feel settled and supported. Our team works hard to create an environment that is warm and welcoming without being clinical or impersonal. Cinderford is a close knit community, and we think that spirit comes through in the way we run the home. Families are always welcome, and we encourage people to stay connected to the people and places that matter to them. If you are looking for care for yourself or someone you love, we would be very happy to have a conversation and show you around. We understand that choosing a care home is a significant decision, and we want to make sure you have all the information you need to feel comfortable and confident in your choice.

St Georges Care Home is a residential home in Taunton, Somerset. We provide care for older people, including people living with dementia, and we offer respite stays alongside permanent places. We are a residential home rather than a clinical setting, and the day here belongs to the people living in it. Some like an early start, the paper and the garden; others prefer a slow morning and a quiet afternoon. Our part is to make either possible, and to help with washing, dressing, medication, meals and getting about in a way that supports independence rather than replacing it. Dementia care is central to our work. We take time to learn each person's history, habits and the things that reassure them, because that knowledge is what lets staff respond to the feeling behind a difficult moment rather than simply react to the behaviour. Familiar faces, a calm environment and a predictable rhythm do a great deal of the rest, and families often tell us it is the ordinary details that matter most. Respite stays are properly planned and given the same attention as any other admission, whether they are giving a family carer a real break or supporting somebody after a spell in hospital. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good, which we take as a foundation rather than a finishing line. You are welcome to visit St Georges and see the home on an ordinary day.

Ventura is a residential care home in Weston Super Mare supporting adults living with mental health conditions, with respite stays available alongside longer term places. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. We are a home, and we try hard to behave like one. There is no set time to get up, no requirement to sit in the lounge and no need for anyone to explain how they want to spend an afternoon. Residents keep their own belongings, arrange their rooms as they wish and have a genuine say in meals, activities and the way their support is given. Mental health support here is practical rather than clinical. It means a steady routine for those who find one helpful, somewhere quiet to go when things feel too much, help with appointments, medication and money, and a team who notice when someone is not themselves. We work closely with community mental health colleagues, GPs and social workers, and we act early rather than waiting for a crisis to force a decision. Recovery is rarely a straight line, and we stay with people through the difficult stretches as well as the good ones. Where someone is working towards more independence, we plan for it properly rather than keeping them comfortable and stuck. If you would like to visit, meet the team and talk about whether we might suit, please get in touch.

We are a residential care home in Swindon supporting older people and younger adults who need help with daily living, including those living with dementia, people with mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities and people with loss of sight or hearing. Supporting that range means paying attention to individuals rather than to categories. Some of the people here need a good deal of help with personal care, medication and moving about. Others need much less of that and a great deal more support with everything else: keeping to arrangements, managing anxiety, getting out of the house and having staff who know when to step in and when to leave well alone. Residents keep their own rooms, belongings and routines as far as we can manage, and they decide how much they want to be part of whatever is happening. Meals are cooked here and we listen when somebody would rather have something different. Where somebody is living with dementia we spend time learning their history and habits, because knowing the person is what settles them when they are frightened. Family and friends are welcome whenever they wish to come. Respite stays are available as well as permanent places. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. Here at Queensbridge House, we provide residential care in the heart of Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, supporting a wide range of people across different needs and stages of life. We know that choosing a care home is one of the most significant decisions a family can make, and we do not take that lightly. Our aim is for every person who lives here to feel genuinely at home, not just looked after. That means getting to know people as individuals, understanding their routines, their preferences, and what matters most to them on a day to day basis. Our team works hard to create an atmosphere that feels calm, respectful and human. We are honest about where we are on our journey. Our most recent Care Quality Commission rating is "requires improvement", and we have taken that feedback seriously. We also support younger adults and individuals with mental health needs, recognising that every resident brings their own story, goals and personality to our community. Respite care is available for families who need short term support, whether following a hospital stay, during a carer's holiday, or simply to try our home before making longer term decisions. We welcome older adults, younger adults, and people living with mental health needs, and we also offer respite care for those who need a short term stay while their usual support is arranged or their family takes a break. We understand that choosing a care home is one of the most significant decisions a person or family can make, and we do not take that lightly. From the moment someone contacts us, we try to make the process feel straightforward and human. We want people to feel genuinely at ease when they walk through our doors, not as though they are navigating a system. Our team works hard to get to know each resident as an individual. The small things matter enormously to us, whether that is how someone takes their tea, the television programmes they enjoy, or the routines that help them feel settled and secure. We build care around the person, not the other way around. We support residents with a range of needs, including those related to mental health, and we work closely with families and healthcare professionals to make sure everyone involved feels informed and included. For those joining us for respite stays, we aim to offer the same warmth and consistency that our long term residents experience. East Court is a residential care home in Wells in Somerset. We support adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, and we offer respite stays for people who usually live elsewhere. We run this as a home that people live in rather than a service they receive. Rooms belong to the people in them and get arranged accordingly. The weekly shop is decided by the people who will eat it. Weekend plans are made by whoever is going. We ask rather than assume, and being told no is a perfectly good answer. Much of what we do is about widening what is possible rather than occupying the day. Cooking something you actually want to eat. Getting confident with money. Managing a journey into town alone. Keeping a course, a job or a friendship going. Some of it comes together quickly, some takes years and some never quite happens, and we do not count the last of those as a failure provided the chance was genuinely there and nobody was pushed into it. Understanding how each person communicates is the other half of the job, particularly where speech is not the main route. We learn each person's way properly, write it down so new staff respond identically, and keep checking we have understood. A predictable house is a calm one. The Care Quality Commission rated us good at our last inspection.

As a dedicated residential care home, we support older people who need a helping hand with daily living, whilst also welcoming younger adults whose circumstances mean residential support is the right choice for them. Our dementia care is delivered with patience, understanding, and a genuine focus on preserving dignity, helping residents to feel safe and valued at every stage of their journey. We also offer respite care, providing families and regular carers with peace of mind when a short stay is needed, whether that is following a hospital discharge, during a holiday, or simply to allow a well earned break. In practice, this means our team gets to know each person as an individual, tailoring daily routines, meaningful activities, and personal support around what matters most to them. Families researching care naturally want to know that a home is safe, effective, and genuinely caring. Following the most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission in May 2022, Blenheim Care Home was awarded an overall rating of Good, with Good ratings achieved across every one of the five key areas: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, and Well led. This consistent picture reflects the standards we work hard to uphold every day, from the way we care for residents, to the way our home is run, to how we respond to the changing needs of the people who live with us. Choosing a care home is one of the most important decisions a family can make, and we understand the emotions that come with that journey. If you are considering residential, dementia, or respite care in Bournemouth for a loved one, we would be delighted to hear from you, answer any questions you may have, and warmly invite you to visit us and see for yourself the kindness and care that define life at Blenheim Care Home.

Our team takes the time to understand each individual's routines, preferences, communication styles, and aspirations, ensuring that daily life feels meaningful, structured where helpful, and always respectful of personal choice. We also offer respite care, providing a valued option for families who may need short term support, whether to allow a primary carer a well earned break or to give a loved one the opportunity to experience life at Bidna House for a shorter stay. Families often tell us how reassuring it is to know that respite here is delivered with the same care, attention, and consistency as our longer term support. For those living with a learning disability or autism, we focus on building trust and confidence through predictable, compassionate support. For residents managing mental health needs, we work sensitively to promote stability, wellbeing, and independence, encouraging engagement at a pace that suits each person. Our aim is always to help residents feel safe, understood, and empowered. Bidna House has been rated Good by the Care Quality Commission across every domain assessed, including Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, and Well-led, following inspection. For families, this rating offers reassurance that the standards of care, leadership, and day to day experience within our home have been independently reviewed and recognised. Choosing a care home is one of the most important decisions a family can make, and we understand the questions, hopes, and concerns that come with it. Vane Hill is a residential care home in Torquay. We look after older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia and people managing mental health conditions, and we offer respite stays for anyone who needs somewhere for a short period. What we try to protect here is ordinariness. A care home can very easily start running to its own convenience, with everybody getting up at the same time and doing the same thing, and we work against that. People choose their own hours, decide how much company they want, and spend the day as they wish. Some are in the middle of everything, some prefer their own room and their own quiet, and both are perfectly acceptable. Meals are cooked here and we take an interest in what people genuinely like rather than what is simplest to produce. For those living with dementia we keep things calm and predictable and we go along with the person rather than arguing with them. For those with mental health needs we work alongside community teams and stay steady through the harder stretches. Families are welcome whenever it suits them, and we would much rather they dropped in than made appointments. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Come and see the home on an ordinary day if you would like to.

Two Cedars in Broadstone is a residential care home for older people who need help with daily living, and we offer respite stays as well as permanent places. What we offer is fairly simple and we try to do it well. Help with washing, dressing and getting about, given at the person's own pace and in a way that protects their dignity. Medication managed properly. Three meals a day that people are glad to sit down to, cooked here, with real choice at every one. Warm, clean rooms that people make their own with their own furniture and photographs. Company when it is wanted and quiet when it is not. Being a small house, we know everybody who lives here properly, not as a set of care needs but as people with histories, tastes and opinions. That is what lets us notice early when somebody is off colour or out of sorts. We act on it quickly, involve the surgery and the district nurses, and tell families what is happening rather than waiting to be asked. Respite stays are a genuine part of what we do, whether to give a relative a holiday, to help somebody find their feet after a spell in hospital, or to let a person try us out before deciding anything permanent. Anyone thinking about a move is welcome to visit.

The Willows is a residential care home in Warminster, Wiltshire. We support adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, along with older people who need help with daily living. We run this as a household rather than an institution. Residents choose how they spend their days, take part in cooking, shopping and looking after the place if they want to, and arrange their own rooms. Support is agreed with each person, written in a way they can understand and check, and reviewed with them rather than about them. Most of what makes support work is attention to detail. We learn how somebody communicates, what they enjoy, what unsettles them and what helps on a difficult day. For autistic residents we take particular care over predictability, quiet space and clear information about what is coming next. Nobody should have to give up their outside life to live here. People keep in touch with family and friends, go out, attend college, work or clubs, and take up new interests when they want to. Where something looks hard to arrange, our first question is how to make it possible. Respite stays are available so that families can take a planned break. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please get in touch if you would like to visit and see the house for yourself.

Kingland House Residential Home is a care home in Poole. We support older people who need help with daily life, including many living with dementia, people with physical disabilities and younger adults who need residential care. We also offer respite stays. We are small enough for everybody here to be properly known, and that is the basis of everything else we do. Our team notices when somebody eats less than usual, sleeps badly, seems low or becomes unsteady on their feet, and it gets dealt with the same day rather than at a review in a month. Residents decide how their own days go. When to get up and go to bed, what to eat, whether to sit with others or keep to their own room. Rooms hold people's own furniture and photographs, and nobody comes in without knocking. Visitors are welcome at any reasonable hour. For residents living with dementia, consistency is what helps, so we keep staffing settled and learn each person's history, which lets us make sense of what they are telling us. Where somebody has a physical disability, we work around what they can still do rather than taking over. Health needs are managed alongside local GPs and community nurses, and families hear from us early when anything changes. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. Please come and look round.

The Fairways is a residential care home in Chippenham, Wiltshire. We support older people who need help with daily life, including many living with dementia, people with mental health needs, people with physical disabilities and people with a visual or hearing impairment. We also offer respite stays. Moving into a home usually follows a difficult period, so we take the settling in slowly. We ask about the routines somebody has kept for years, the food they actually like and whether they would rather be up early or have a lie in, and we build around that rather than expecting people to adapt to us. Rooms hold people's own furniture and photographs, and we knock before we come in. The days here are not heavily timetabled. Company, conversation and time in the garden for those who want it, the newspaper and quiet for those who do not. For residents living with dementia, familiarity does most of the work, so we keep staffing settled and learn each person's history properly. Where somebody has mental health needs, we agree in advance what helps when things become difficult. Where sight or hearing is limited, the way we approach and speak to a person takes account of it. Health needs are managed with local GPs and community nurses, and families hear from us early. Please come and visit.

At Beck House, we provide residential care for a wide range of people in Bristol, South Gloucestershire. We also offer respite care for those who need a shorter stay, whether that is planned in advance or arranged at short notice. From the moment someone walks through our door, we want them to feel at ease. We take time to get to know each person properly, learning about their routines, preferences, and the things that matter most to them, so that the support we provide fits around their life rather than the other way around. We at Sundial Lodge Care Home are proud to offer a warm and welcoming residential care home in the seaside town of Torquay, providing older person care in a setting that feels every bit like home. Nestled within the TQ postcode area of Torbay, our home enjoys the gentle charm of the South West coast, offering residents a peaceful place to settle, rest, and thrive. Our environment has been thoughtfully arranged to reflect the comfort and familiarity of family life. Being situated in Torquay means our residents benefit from the calming atmosphere of a coastal community, whilst remaining close to the amenities, green spaces, and cultural touches that make the Torbay area so beloved. We believe the setting of a care home matters deeply, and we work hard to ensure that ours feels bright, homely, and reassuring from the moment you step through the door. At the heart of what we do is a genuine commitment to person centred residential care for older adults. We understand that every resident arrives with their own story, preferences, and routines, and our approach is built around honouring that individuality. Whether someone joins us for long term residential care or a shorter respite stay, our team takes the time to listen, learn, and adapt so that each person feels truly known. We also offer specialist support for residents living with mental health needs. This means our team is experienced in providing compassionate, patient, and consistent care to those who may be navigating conditions such as anxiety, depression, or other longstanding mental health challenges. For families, this translates into peace of mind: knowing that a loved one is supported by people who understand the importance of emotional wellbeing alongside physical care. We work to create daily rhythms that feel steady and predictable, whilst also encouraging moments of joy, connection, and gentle stimulation. Respite care forms an important part of what we provide, giving family carers the opportunity to rest, recover, or simply take a well deserved break, safe in the knowledge that their loved one is being cared for in a nurturing environment. Whether respite is planned in advance or needed at shorter notice, we aim to make the transition as smooth and comforting as possible, welcoming each guest with the same warmth we extend to our permanent residents. Our care philosophy is rooted in dignity, kindness, and respect. We believe that later life should be lived with purpose and pleasure, and we encourage residents to continue enjoying the things that bring them meaning, whether that is a favourite meal, a cherished routine, a good book, or simply the company of others. Family involvement is warmly welcomed, and we see relatives as valued partners in the care journey. Following our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission in July 2023, Sundial Lodge Care Home was rated Good overall, with Good ratings across all five key areas: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, and Well led. For families, a Good rating in every domain reflects consistency across all aspects of care, from the safety and effectiveness of daily support to the compassion of our team, our ability to respond to individual needs, and the quality of leadership guiding the home. It is a standard we are proud of and one we work every day to uphold and build upon. Choosing a care home is one of the most important decisions a family can make, and we understand the weight that comes with it. There may be questions you want to ask, emotions to work through, and practical details to consider. We are here to help with all of it, at whatever pace feels right for you. If you are exploring residential care, mental health support, or respite options in Torquay for yourself or someone you love, we would be delighted to hear from you. The Meadows is a residential care home in Bideford in Devon. We support older people and younger adults, including adults with learning disabilities, autistic adults, people managing mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities and people living with sight or hearing loss. Respite stays are available. The people living here have genuinely little in common in terms of what they need, so we plan support one person at a time and mean it. What settles an older person is not what gives an adult with a learning disability confidence, and neither resembles what helps somebody living with a long standing mental health condition. So we spend our attention on particulars: how somebody likes to be addressed, what they can do themselves and would rather we left alone, what makes a difficult day and what heads it off early. Where a physical disability or sensory loss affects how somebody gets about, we design around the person rather than expecting them to accommodate the building. Understanding how each person communicates is central, especially where speech is not the main route. What we learn is written down and shared so that everybody responds the same way, which keeps the place predictable and gives people confidence to try things. The Care Quality Commission rated us good at our most recent inspection.

- Care Home
We are a residential care home in Brixham, providing a home for older people who need help with daily living, including those living with dementia and people with physical disabilities. Our aim is a settled house where help is close at hand without taking over somebody's life. Residents keep their own rooms, belongings and routines as far as we can manage, and they decide how much they want to be part of whatever is happening. Where someone needs help with washing, dressing or moving about, we try to give it without hurry and without doing more of the task than is actually needed, because what a person can still manage themselves is worth protecting. Dementia care rests on knowing the person rather than following a procedure, so we ask families to tell us about working life, children, music, faith and old habits. That knowledge is worth more than any written plan when somebody is frightened or cannot place where they are. Meals are cooked here and we listen when somebody would rather have something different. Being near the sea is a plain advantage, and getting out for a change of view is part of ordinary life here. Respite stays are available as well as permanent places. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. Please come and look round before deciding anything.

Manor Farm is a residential home in Bath, supporting older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia, people managing mental health conditions and people with physical disabilities. We also take respite bookings for short stays. Our approach to residential care is not complicated. People come here because managing alone has stopped being realistic, not because they have stopped having opinions about how they want to live. So we get to know each person properly, and we build the day around what they actually want rather than around a fixed routine that suits the building. For people living with dementia we keep the environment calm and familiar and take our cue from the person in front of us. For those with mental health needs we work closely with community teams and treat difficult periods as part of the picture rather than as a crisis to be managed away. Families are welcome without formality, and we would rather they came often. We want to be straightforward about our position. The most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We have gone through the findings carefully and the work to put them right is under way. Please ask us about it directly if you are considering the home for a relative, and we will give you a plain answer rather than a polished one.

We are a small residential home on Victoria Street in Cinderford, supporting adults with a learning disability and autistic adults. Being small is the point rather than an accident. It means the people who live here are known properly, not just recorded, and it means the house can be run around them. We take the view that this is somebody's home and everything follows from that. People choose their own routines, help with cooking and shopping, keep their rooms how they like them and decide what happens with their own time. Where someone wants to work, study, get out to the Forest of Dean or simply go into town regularly, we support it. Where someone needs the week to be predictable and needs plenty of warning before anything changes, we build that in. Communication is something we work at, because not everyone tells us what they want in the same way. We learn how each person expresses themselves and we make decisions with them rather than about them. Families and advocates are welcome and stay involved for as long as the person wants them to. We also offer respite stays, which can give a family a planned break and give someone a chance to get to know us gradually. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We have kept our focus clear rather than trying to be all things to everyone. Residential care for older people is what we do. Doing it properly means knowing each person well: their history, the work they did, the family names, what comforts them and what reliably unsettles them. Staff who carry that knowledge are the ones who notice quickly when somebody is unwell or out of sorts. Beyond that, much of what makes a day here good is quite unremarkable. A decent breakfast at a time that suits you. Your own chair and your own belongings. The garden when the weather allows. Company if you want it and quiet if you would rather, and somebody with the time to sit down and properly listen. Being in a village, we also support people to keep up the connections they already have nearby. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Relatives are welcome at any reasonable hour. Please ring us and come and see the home.

- Care Home
We at Rosehill House offer residential care in the historic cathedral city of Truro, providing a warm and welcoming home for adults who need thoughtful, personalised support. Nestled within the TR postcode area of Cornwall, our residential care home sits within one of the South West's most cherished communities, where residents can enjoy the gentle pace of Cornish life alongside the vibrancy of a well loved city setting. Our home has been created with comfort and dignity in mind, offering a domestic and homely atmosphere where residents can truly feel settled. The Truro location means residents benefit from being close to local amenities, green spaces, and the wider Cornish countryside, whilst family and friends find us accessible for regular visits. Every corner of Rosehill House is designed to feel familiar and reassuring, from shared communal areas where friendships flourish to quieter spaces where residents can enjoy a moment of calm. The breadth of care we provide reflects our commitment to welcoming a diverse community of residents. We specialise in older person care and general residential care, whilst also supporting younger adults, people with learning disabilities or autism, and those living with physical disabilities or visual and hearing impairments. In practice, this means our team takes time to understand each individual, tailoring daily routines, communication approaches, and activities to suit the person rather than expecting the person to fit around the home. For families exploring long term care, this personalised approach brings genuine peace of mind. We also offer respite care, which can be a lifeline for family carers who need a planned break or for individuals recovering from a hospital stay. Whether the need is for a short stay or a longer arrangement, our aim is the same: to provide continuity, warmth, and skilled support so that every resident feels genuinely at home from day one. Supporting people with a range of sensory and physical needs means our team is attentive to the small details that make a real difference. From clear communication for residents with hearing or visual impairment, to considered mobility support for those with physical disabilities, and patient, structured routines for adults with learning disabilities or autism, our care is shaped around helping each person live as fully and independently as possible. Rosehill House holds an overall Good rating from the Care Quality Commission, following its latest inspection in April 2022. The regulator judged the home to be Good across the Safe, Effective, Caring and Responsive domains, which reflects the everyday reality of a home where residents are looked after with kindness, where care is delivered thoughtfully, and where individual needs are recognised and responded to. The Well led domain was rated as Requires Improvement, and we view this openly as an area of ongoing focus, working continually to strengthen leadership and governance so that the excellent care our residents already experience is matched by equally strong oversight behind the scenes. Choosing a care home is one of the most important decisions a family will ever make, and we understand the mix of emotions that come with it. If you are considering residential or respite care in Truro for a loved one, we warmly invite you to get in touch with Rosehill House. We would be delighted to answer your questions, share more about daily life here, and help you decide whether our home might be the right next chapter for the person you care about.

We aim to make respite stays as smooth and reassuring as possible, welcoming guests warmly and helping them settle into the rhythm of the home quickly. Our most recent CQC inspection, carried out in June 2022, gave us an overall rating of Requires Improvement, with Good ratings recognised in the Caring and Responsive domains. We are genuinely proud that our compassion and responsiveness to residents were acknowledged, as these qualities sit at the very heart of what we do every day. At the same time, we take the areas identified for improvement seriously and remain committed to ongoing development across safety, effectiveness, and leadership, so that every aspect of our home matches the warmth already shown by our team. Transparency matters to us, and we believe families deserve honesty about where we are and where we are working to be. Elm Tree House is a residential care home in Taunton in Somerset. We support older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia, people managing mental health conditions, and people working through difficulties with alcohol or drugs. Respite stays are available. We would rather be straight with you from the start. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us as requires improvement. We are not going to write around that. The findings were taken seriously, there is an improvement plan we are working through, and if you come and see us you should ask directly what has changed and what is still outstanding. You will get a plain answer. What has not changed is how we believe people should be treated. This is their home. Residents choose how their rooms look, when they get up, what they do with the day and who comes to see them. Because the people living here have genuinely different needs, we plan care one person at a time rather than running one routine and hoping it stretches. Where our work touches addiction we go carefully and without judgement, because recovery rarely runs in a straight line and being steady on the difficult weeks is most of what we are for. Genuine improvement comes from listening to residents and relatives and then acting rather than recording.

We at Waterloo Care Home warmly welcome you to our residential care home in Wimborne, Dorset, where compassionate older person care and specialist dementia support are at the heart of everything we do. Nestled in this historic market town, our home offers a peaceful and familiar setting for those seeking long term residential care or shorter respite stays. Our location within the BH postcode area places us in one of the South West's most cherished corners, where residents can enjoy the gentle pace of Wimborne life. The surrounding area is known for its charming streets, welcoming community feel, and beautiful Dorset countryside, all of which contribute to a calm and reassuring environment for those who call our home their own. Families visiting loved ones will find the town easy to reach, with local amenities close by for those wishing to spend the day together. Inside, we have created a warm and homely atmosphere where residents can feel truly settled. Every space is designed with comfort, dignity, and ease of movement in mind, ensuring that whether someone is joining us for a short respite break or making Waterloo their long term home, they feel welcomed from the very first day. The care we provide is thoughtfully tailored to the individual. Our specialism in older person care and residential support means that daily routines, meals, activities, and companionship are shaped around what matters most to each resident. For those living with dementia, our approach is patient, person centred, and rooted in understanding. We know that dementia affects every person differently, and our team takes time to learn each resident's story, preferences, and rhythms of the day, so that familiarity and reassurance are never far away. Families often tell us that knowing their loved one is treated as an individual, rather than a diagnosis, brings enormous peace of mind. Respite care is another important part of what we offer. Whether a family carer needs a well earned break, someone is recovering from a hospital stay, or a trial stay is being considered before a longer commitment, our respite guests receive the same warmth, attention, and quality of care as our permanent residents. It is a chance to rest, recuperate, and enjoy company in a supportive setting. Quality and safety underpin everything we do, and we are proud that the Care Quality Commission awarded Waterloo Care Home an overall rating of Good at our most recent inspection in September 2022. This rating was consistent across every domain assessed, including Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, and Well led. For families, this consistency is meaningful. It reflects a home where residents are protected and supported, where care genuinely improves wellbeing, where kindness is woven into every interaction, where individual needs are recognised and responded to, and where leadership sets a clear and caring tone throughout the team. Choosing a care home is one of the most important decisions a family can make, and we understand the mixture of hope, worry, and love that accompanies that decision. At Waterloo Care Home, our goal is to ease that journey, to answer your questions honestly, and to show you the environment your loved one would experience each day. We invite you to get in touch, arrange a visit, and see for yourself the warmth, care, and community that make our Wimborne home a place families can trust.

Arranging and funding a care home place in the South West
The South West covers a broad stretch of England, from the coastal communities of Cornwall and Devon through Somerset, Dorset, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire. Across this region our directory lists 1,362 residential care homes, ranging from small family-run houses to larger purpose-built settings. If you are beginning to think about a move into residential care, the first practical steps are usually the same wherever you live: understand the level of support needed, find out what funding may be available, and get a realistic sense of local fees before you shortlist homes.
Starting with a care needs assessment
A care needs assessment is the formal way to establish what daily help someone requires, and it is the gateway to any publicly funded support. You can request one through the local authority Adult Social Care team, and the assessment is free regardless of income. A social worker or assessor will look at personal care, mobility, medication, memory, nutrition and social contact, then produce a written summary of eligible needs. This document is useful even for people who expect to pay privately, because it gives care homes a clear starting point when discussing whether they can meet the person's needs.
Funding, means testing and typical costs
After the needs assessment, a separate financial assessment decides how much the local authority will contribute. Savings and capital thresholds apply, and the value of a property is usually included unless a spouse or certain other relatives still live there. Residential fees in the South West vary widely by area and by the type of home, with coastal towns and larger converted properties often sitting at the higher end. It is worth asking each shortlisted home for a written fee schedule that shows what is included and what is charged as an extra, such as hairdressing, chiropody or escorted trips.
Choosing between care homes in the South West
With more than 1,300 residential settings in the region, filtering the list is the real challenge. Every home in our directory carries a Care Quality Commission status, and across the South West the current sample includes Outstanding ratings such as Firgrove House, Ridgeway House and Harbour Rise Rest Home, a large majority rated Good, a smaller number rated Requires Improvement including Grange Court, Holly Tree Cottage, Chosen Court and Nutley Lodge Care Home, and a handful not yet rated such as Osborne House and St Omer Residential Care Ltd.
Reading CQC reports properly
The overall rating is a useful headline, but the five key questions underneath it tell you far more. Look at whether the home is Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-led, and pay particular attention to the date of the last inspection. A home rated Requires Improvement that has since had a positive follow-up visit may be a very different proposition to one where concerns are unresolved. Homes that are not yet rated are often newer registrations, so ask the manager directly about staffing, training and clinical oversight.
What a visit should tell you
Try to visit at different times of day. Look at how staff greet residents by name, whether call bells are answered promptly, and whether communal areas feel lived in rather than staged. Ask to see a sample care plan, the activities programme for the last month, and the most recent menu. Homes such as Cathedral View, Menna House, Courtlands Care Home, Chard Manor and OSJCT Marden Court are examples from our South West listings, but the right choice depends on location, atmosphere and the specific needs of your relative rather than name recognition.
Frequently asked questions about care homes in the South West
How many care homes are there in the South West?
The South West has 1,362 CQC registered care homes: 62 Outstanding, 1,091 Good, 140 Requires improvement, 7 Inadequate, 62 not yet rated. Counts come from the CQC register and are kept up to date as ratings change.
How much does a care home cost in the South West?
Self-funders are typically asked £1,400 to £1,650 a week. Middle half of prices from 52 South West homes. Median £1,549. Published prices are often starting prices, and come from homes that publish fees, so treat them as a guide. What a council pays differs from council to council. Ask the home for its own price.
Which care homes in the South West were inspected most recently?
The Yelverton Residential Home (30 September 2026), Ladden View (29 September 2026) and Southlands Residential Care Home (28 September 2026) have the most recent CQC reports.
Can the local authority fund a care home placement in the South West?
Yes, the local authority can fund all or part of a residential placement following a needs assessment and a financial assessment. If someone has capital below the upper threshold and eligible needs, the local authority will contribute towards fees, though the person is still expected to pay an assessed contribution from income such as pensions. Where savings and property equity are above the threshold, the person usually pays their own fees until their capital falls to the relevant level. It is worth asking about deferred payment agreements if the main asset is a home that cannot easily be sold.
How do I arrange a care needs assessment in the South West?
You can contact the local authority Adult Social Care service directly and request an assessment for yourself or a relative, and referrals can also come through a GP or hospital discharge team. The assessment is free and does not depend on income. An assessor will visit in person or speak by phone and video, and will consider practical daily tasks alongside safety, mental wellbeing and social contact. You will receive a written outcome that can be shared with any care home you approach.
How far in advance should I start looking for a care home in the South West?
Where possible, begin exploring options several months before a move is likely, because the most sought-after homes in the South West often have waiting lists. Starting early also allows time for a proper needs assessment, financial planning and unhurried visits. In urgent situations, for example after a hospital admission, decisions sometimes have to be made within days, and the local authority hospital team can help identify homes with immediate vacancies. Even in a crisis, try to visit at least two homes before committing.
Which providers in the South West offer residential care?
Our directory currently lists 1,362 residential care homes across the South West, spanning Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Dorset, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire and Bristol. These include small homes such as Breage House, Inglenook House and Katherine House Rest Home, alongside larger settings such as Regency Manor Care Home and Lakeside Care Home. CQC ratings across the sample include Outstanding, Good, Requires Improvement and not yet rated. You can filter the full list on Care Assura by location, rating and specialism to narrow the choice.
What should I ask when visiting a care home in the South West?
Ask about the staff-to-resident ratio at different times of day, how care plans are reviewed, and what happens if a resident's needs increase. Enquire about the activities on offer, access to gardens or outings, and how the home manages relationships with GPs, district nurses and pharmacists. Check the fee structure carefully and confirm what is included, what counts as an extra, and how future increases are handled. Finally, ask to speak to a relative of a current resident if that is possible.
What is the difference between a residential care home and a nursing home?
A residential care home provides help with personal care such as washing, dressing, meals and medication prompts, along with companionship and activities, but does not have qualified nurses on duty around the clock. A nursing home is registered to provide nursing care, meaning a registered nurse is on shift day and night to manage more complex clinical needs such as wound care, tube feeding or advanced dementia. All 1,333 homes on this South West page are residential care homes rather than nursing homes. If nursing input is likely to be needed soon, it is often better to choose a home already registered to provide it.
