About The Fairways

The Fairways is a residential care home in Chippenham, Wiltshire. We support older people who need help with daily life, including many living with dementia, people with mental health needs, people with physical disabilities and people with a visual or hearing impairment. We also offer respite stays. Moving into a home usually follows a difficult period, so we take the settling in slowly. We ask about the routines somebody has kept for years, the food they actually like and whether they would rather be up early or have a lie in, and we build around that rather than expecting people to adapt to us. Rooms hold people's own furniture and photographs, and we knock before we come in. The days here are not heavily timetabled. Company, conversation and time in the garden for those who want it, the newspaper and quiet for those who do not. For residents living with dementia, familiarity does most of the work, so we keep staffing settled and learn each person's history properly. Where somebody has mental health needs, we agree in advance what helps when things become difficult. Where sight or hearing is limited, the way we approach and speak to a person takes account of it. Health needs are managed with local GPs and community nurses, and families hear from us early. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. Please come and visit.
