About Us
At Hembury Fort House, we provide residential care for older people in the heart of Honiton, Devon. Our home supports people with a range of needs, including dementia care, physical disability, and shorter term respite stays for those who need a little extra support while recovering or giving family carers a well earned break.
We are proud to have been rated Good by the Care Quality Commission, which reflects the genuine effort our team puts into making life here comfortable, meaningful, and as individual as each person we support. We take that rating seriously, not as something to rest on, but as a reminder of the standard we hold ourselves to every day.
What matters most to us is that the people who live here feel at home. That means knowing how someone takes their tea, what music lifts their mood, and when they simply want a quiet moment. Good care is built from those small things, and we never lose sight of that.
Dementia care sits at the heart of much of what we do, and we approach it with patience, consistency, and a genuine understanding of how it feels to live with memory loss, both for the individual and for those who love them. We work closely with families throughout, keeping communication open and honest from the very beginning.
For those joining us on a respite basis, we want the experience to feel as settled and reassuring as possible, even for a short stay. We know it can feel like a big step, and we do our best to make the transition straightforward.
If you are considering care for yourself or someone close to you, we would always encourage you to come and visit us in person. There is no better way to get a feel for whether Hembury Fort House might be the right place.
