We at Ascot House are proud to offer residential care in the heart of Manchester, providing a warm and welcoming home for older people, adults living with dementia, and younger adults within the Trafford community. Our home has been thoughtfully designed to feel less like an institution and more like the place our residents can truly call their own. Set within the vibrant surroundings of Manchester, our home benefits from being close to local amenities whilst offering the calm, comfortable atmosphere that residents and their loved ones need. The environment has been created with accessibility and comfort at its heart, allowing residents to move freely, socialise in shared communal spaces, or enjoy quieter moments of reflection in their own rooms. Families visiting will find a homely setting where personal touches are encouraged and everyday life feels reassuringly familiar. Our care specialisms cover older person care, general residential support, dementia care, care for younger adults, and respite stays. In practice, this means we take the time to understand each individual who joins us, whether they are settling in for the long term or staying with us for a shorter period of respite. For residents living with dementia, our team focuses on maintaining routine, dignity, and meaningful engagement, drawing on approaches that reduce anxiety and promote wellbeing. For younger adults, we recognise that care needs and lifestyle preferences differ, and we work closely with each person to support their independence and personal goals. Families choosing respite care can feel reassured that their loved one will be welcomed with the same warmth and attention offered to every resident. We understand that choosing a care home is one of the most significant decisions a family can make, and trust is central to that journey. Ascot House holds an overall Good rating from the Care Quality Commission, with Good ratings achieved across all five key domains: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, and Well led. This consistency reflects the dedication of our team and the standards we uphold every day, from the way care is delivered to the way our home is managed. If you are considering care for yourself or a loved one, we warmly invite you to get in touch with Ascot House. Whether you have questions about daily life here, wish to discuss individual care needs, or would like to arrange a visit, our door is always open. We look forward to welcoming you and showing you how we can support your family with compassion, professionalism, and genuine care.

We at De Brook Lodge are proud to offer a warm, welcoming residential care home in the heart of Manchester, providing compassionate support to older people, younger adults, and those living with dementia across the Trafford community. Nestled within a friendly neighbourhood in the M postcode area, our home has been thoughtfully designed to feel just that, a home. Comfortable communal lounges, inviting dining spaces, and quiet corners for reflection all contribute to an atmosphere where residents can truly relax and be themselves. The familiar surroundings of Manchester mean that loved ones remain close, and the wider Trafford area provides a settled, community focused backdrop to daily life at De Brook Lodge. Our specialisms reflect the breadth of care we are proud to deliver. For older people, we offer supportive residential care that respects independence whilst ensuring help is always close at hand. Our dementia care is grounded in patience, understanding, and genuine person centred approaches, helping residents feel safe, valued, and understood even as their needs evolve. We also welcome younger adults whose circumstances call for residential support, tailoring our approach to reflect their individual goals, interests, and personalities. For families needing a short term arrangement, our respite care offers peace of mind, whether following a hospital stay, during a carer's holiday, or simply to provide a change of scenery in a caring environment. In practice, this means every resident receives care shaped around who they are, not just what they need. Our team takes the time to learn life stories, preferences, and routines, ensuring that meals, activities, and daily rhythms feel familiar and enjoyable. Families are welcomed as partners in care, kept informed, listened to, and reassured that their loved one is in kind, capable hands. De Brook Lodge holds an overall rating of Good from the Care Quality Commission, following its most recent inspection in October 2021. We are rated Good across every domain assessed, Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, and Well led. For families, this consistent rating offers meaningful reassurance that the quality of care, leadership, and daily experience at our home meets the standards set by the national regulator. Choosing a care home is one of the most important decisions a family can make, and we understand the emotions that come with it. If you are exploring options in Manchester or the wider Trafford area, we warmly invite you to get in touch, ask questions, or arrange a visit to see our home for yourself. At De Brook Lodge, we would be honoured to welcome you and your loved one into our community.

The Hamiltons Care Home is a care home in the Wigan area. We provide residential care for older people, including people living with dementia, and we offer respite stays alongside permanent places. We aim to be a home in the plain sense of the word. People get up when they want, spend the day as they choose, keep their own things around them and have visitors when it suits rather than when a timetable allows. Staff are here to make that workable and to notice when somebody is not quite themselves. Dementia support is a large part of what we do, and most of it is not complicated. Familiar faces, a day with a recognisable shape, and a team who understand what a person is really asking when they ask the same question for the fifth time. Distress almost always has a reason behind it, and finding the reason is better than managing the behaviour. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please come and see us if you are considering care locally, and talk to the people who live here as well as to us.

- Care Home
Trafford Waters Care Home is a residential care home in Manchester providing a home for older people and for younger adults who need help with the business of daily life. We support people living with dementia, people with physical disabilities, and people who have lost some of their sight or hearing. The place runs at the pace of the people living in it. Breakfast happens when somebody wakes, not when a trolley arrives, and the day takes the shape a person wants. The help covers washing and dressing, medication, meals, mobility and the many small practical things that become difficult alone, offered in a way that leaves somebody their privacy. For those living with dementia we hold to steady routines and familiar staff, and we take trouble over the building so that it is easy to understand and move around. For people with sensory loss we adapt how we communicate, how rooms are lit and how we approach and announce ourselves, because those adjustments decide whether a person is included or left on the edge of things. Families are welcome whenever they want to come. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places. Please ring us if you would like to see the home for yourself.

At Ashley House Residential Home, we provide a warm and homely environment where older adults in Manchester can feel genuinely comfortable, safe and well looked after. We have been rated Good by the Care Quality Commission, which reflects the commitment our team brings to the care we provide every single day. We specialise in Older Person Care, Residential Care, Dementia Care and Respite Care. Whether someone is joining us for a short stay to recover or recharge, or making Ashley House their long term home, we work hard to make sure the experience feels personal and respectful rather than clinical or institutional. Dementia care is something we take particularly seriously. We understand how much this condition affects not just the individual but the whole family around them, and we work thoughtfully to create routines, environments and relationships that bring comfort and familiarity to those living with dementia. Our respite care offer is equally important to us. Caring for a loved one at home is a big undertaking, and we want family carers to feel they can take a break knowing the person they care for is in safe, kind hands. Many families find that a short stay with us gives them peace of mind they did not expect. Life at Ashley House is shaped around the people who live here. We encourage residents to keep doing the things they enjoy, maintain connections with family and friends, and have a genuine say in how their days are structured. We believe good care means treating people as individuals, not as a group with the same needs. If you would like to find out whether Ashley House could be the right fit for your family, we would always encourage you to come and visit us and see the home for yourself. We are based in Manchester and very happy to have a conversation.

Wellfield House is a residential care home in Manchester providing care for older people, including those living with dementia, and short respite stays. City life does not stop when someone moves into care, and we try to keep our residents connected to it. Families, neighbours and friends visit throughout the day, local volunteers and groups come in, and residents who want to get out and about are supported to do so. Inside, we aim for the feel of a large family house. Residents furnish their rooms as they wish, keep their own belongings around them and set their own pace. We ask how someone has always done things, from the time they get up to how they take their tea, and we work with that rather than with a timetable. Dementia care is a large part of what we do. We keep staffing consistent, we avoid unnecessary change, and we take the trouble to find out what reassures a particular person, because it is rarely the same for two people. We also make time for families, who often need support as much as the resident does. Respite stays give carers a proper rest and give the person staying with us a chance to get to know us gently. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We would rather you visited unannounced and saw us as we really are, so please just come.

- Care Home
We are a residential care home in Salford, providing a home for older people, including many who are living with dementia. What we aim for is a house that runs at a human pace, where nobody is hurried through breakfast and nobody is left sitting somewhere they would rather not be. Support here is with the everyday things. Washing and dressing, medication, meals, keeping in touch with family, getting outside when the weather is fair. Our staff are here through the day and the night, and we work with GPs and district nurses so that health matters are picked up quickly. Dementia care is a large part of what we do. We find that steady routines, familiar faces and a calm atmosphere do more good than anything else, and that a person who is anxious usually needs company and time rather than correction. We take an interest in who somebody was before they came to us, because that is where the clues about what will comfort them are found. Relatives are welcome whenever they want to visit, and we would far sooner they asked us questions than went away worrying. We offer respite stays as well as permanent places. Our most recent Care Quality Commission inspection rated the home Good. If you would like to come and see us, please ring and arrange a time that suits you.

Downing House is a residential care home in Manchester. We provide a home for older people who need support with daily living, and for younger adults who need a supportive household rather than a large institution. Respite stays are available as well, planned or at short notice. The first fortnight after a move matters enormously, and we put a good deal of thought into it. We want to know before somebody arrives how they take their tea, what time they wake, what they cannot abide and who they want to be able to ring. Those details are what make a strange room start to feel like their room. We help with personal care, dressing, medication and mobility, and we do only as much as somebody needs. Where a resident can still manage something, they keep it, and we are not in a hurry to take things over. Dementia care is a large part of our work, and we treat it as caring for a person rather than managing a condition. We keep the day's rhythm steady and the surroundings familiar, give people time instead of finishing their sentences for them, and ask families about earlier life, because that knowledge is what makes sense of a mood or a repeated question. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Come and see us on an ordinary afternoon. A home is much easier to judge when nothing has been arranged for your benefit.

Here at Wellington Lodge, we are proud to serve the Manchester community as a care home that genuinely puts the people who live with us at the heart of everything we do. We support a range of needs, including residential care for older people, dementia care, respite care, and care for younger adults. Whether someone is joining us for a short stay to recover or rest, or making Wellington Lodge their long term home, we work hard to make sure they feel comfortable, respected, and truly at home from the moment they arrive. Dementia care is something we take seriously. We understand how much of an impact this condition has not just on the person living with it, but on their family too. We focus on creating a calm, familiar environment where residents feel safe and where their individual routines and preferences are honoured. For families, we hope to be a reassuring presence and a team they can talk to openly. Our approach to respite care is equally thoughtful. We know that for many families, arranging a short break can come with a great deal of worry and guilt. We want anyone staying with us on a respite basis to receive the same quality of care and the same warmth as our long term residents, so that families can rest knowing their loved one is in good hands. We are pleased to hold a Good rating from the Care Quality Commission, which reflects the commitment of our whole team to maintaining high standards day to day. We never see that as a reason to be complacent though. We are always listening to residents and their families, looking for ways to improve and to make life at Wellington Lodge as good as it can possibly be. If you would like to find out more, please do get in touch. We would love to hear from you.

Here at Israel Sieff Court, we are a care home based in Manchester, and we are proud to offer a warm, supportive environment where older people can feel genuinely at home. We specialise in Older Person Care, Residential Care, Dementia Care and Respite Care, which means we are well placed to support individuals at different stages and with varying needs. Whether someone is joining us for a short respite stay or moving in on a permanent basis, we take time to understand who they are, what matters to them and how we can best support their everyday life. Our team in Manchester works hard to make sure each person in our care feels known and respected as an individual. We do not believe in a one size fits all approach. Routines, preferences and personal histories all shape the way we provide support, and we encourage residents and their families to be involved in decisions about their care from the very beginning. For those living with dementia, we understand how important familiarity, consistency and calm surroundings can be. Our team is experienced in providing thoughtful, person centred support that helps people feel safe and engaged throughout their day. We are pleased that our most recent Care Quality Commission inspection rated us as Good. That outcome reflects the genuine effort our team puts in every day, and it gives families reassurance when they are making what can be a very difficult decision. If you are considering care for yourself or a loved one, we would warmly encourage you to get in touch or come and visit us. We are happy to answer questions, show you around and talk through how we might be able to help. We look forward to hearing from you.

We are Half Acre Care Home, a residential care home in Bury, Greater Manchester. We are home to older people and to younger adults, including many people living with dementia, and we also offer respite stays for those who need care for a short while. We try to run the place as a home rather than an institution. There is a rhythm to the day, but it bends around people: breakfast when someone wakes, a quiet room for those who want one, company in the lounge for those who do not. Meals are cooked here, and we pay attention to what people actually eat rather than to what a menu says they should. Dementia shapes a good deal of our work. We aim for calm surroundings, familiar faces and staff who understand that behaviour is communication. When someone is unsettled, our first question is what they are trying to tell us rather than how to stop it. Families are part of the home. Visit when it suits you, join us for a meal, take a relative out for the afternoon, and tell us when you think something is not right, because you will often notice before we do. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We keep working at it rather than treating it as settled. If you are considering a move for yourself or a relative in the Bury area, come and look round, without an appointment if you would prefer to see us unprepared.

We at Parkview Care Home are proud to offer a welcoming residential care setting in the heart of Manchester, where compassionate support meets the comforts of a true home. Our community is dedicated to providing person centred residential care for older adults and younger people alike, in surroundings designed to feel familiar, safe, and uplifting. Located within the M postcode area of Manchester, our home benefits from being part of a vibrant city whilst offering residents a calm and comfortable retreat. Families visiting loved ones will find us within easy reach across the North West, making regular visits and shared moments straightforward and stress free. The local area provides a familiar backdrop for many of our residents, helping them feel rooted in the community they know and love. Our specialisms reflect the breadth of care we provide. Alongside residential care for older people, we offer dedicated dementia care, drawing on understanding and patience to support residents whose memory and cognition may be changing. We also welcome younger adults and provide thoughtful support for those living with mental health needs, physical disabilities, or visual and hearing impairments. In practice, this means our team takes time to truly know each resident: their history, their preferences, their routines, and the small details that make a day feel like their own. Whether it is adapting communication for someone with hearing loss, creating a calm environment for a resident living with dementia, or supporting independence for a younger adult with a physical disability, our approach is always shaped around the individual rather than the diagnosis. Families often tell us that what matters most is knowing their loved one is treated with dignity and warmth every single day. That is the heart of what we do. From the way we share mealtimes to the encouragement we offer during everyday activities, our aim is to create a sense of belonging. Loved ones are welcomed as part of the wider Parkview family, and we work in close partnership with relatives to ensure care plans evolve as needs change. We are pleased to share that Parkview Care Home holds an overall rating of Good from the Care Quality Commission, following inspection in November 2020. This Good rating extends across all five key areas assessed: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, and Well led. For families, this independent assurance offers peace of mind that the standards of safety, leadership, and compassionate care experienced by residents have been recognised by the regulator. We see this rating not as a finishing line but as a foundation we continue to build upon every day. Choosing a care home is one of the most important decisions a family can make, and we understand the weight of that choice. If you are exploring residential or dementia care options in Manchester, we warmly invite you to get in touch. Whether you would like to ask questions, arrange a visit, or simply talk through what your loved one might need, our door is open and our team is here to listen. At Parkview Care Home, we are ready to walk alongside you with kindness, expertise, and genuine care.

- Care Home
Allendale Residential Home is a care home in Manchester supporting older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia. We are a residential home rather than a nursing home, and that shapes the feel of the place. The emphasis is on daily life: meals, company, routines, visitors, getting outside, having something to look forward to. Practical help with washing, dressing, medication and mobility runs alongside all of that rather than replacing it. Settling in is where we put a lot of our attention. Moving into a care home is a significant loss for most people, however necessary it is, and the first few weeks set the tone for everything afterwards. We take time over life histories, we let people bring their own furniture and pictures, and we do not rush anybody into joining in with things. For people living with dementia we plan around familiarity. Consistent staff, consistent routines, and an approach that goes with the person rather than arguing with them. Where somebody is unsettled, we look first at what might be causing it, including pain, noise, boredom or simply needing the loo, before we look at anything else. Families are welcome whenever they want to come, and we would rather hear a complaint early than a polite silence. Respite stays are available for planned breaks. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is Good. If you are considering a care home in Manchester, come and see us on an ordinary day and make up your own mind.

Auden House Residential Home is in Tameside. We care for older people who need support with daily living, including those living with dementia, those with a physical disability and those whose sight or hearing is impaired. Our care is the practical, daily kind: help to wash and dress, medication given properly, meals cooked here, support to move about safely and staff available through the night. Around that, residents arrange their own time as they wish, and we try not to organise people's lives on their behalf. For residents living with dementia we keep the rhythm of the day predictable and the staff around them consistent. Where sight or hearing is impaired we keep belongings exactly where they are expected, approach people so as not to startle them and check that we have been understood. Where people need help to move, we take the time that doing it safely and comfortably requires. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places. Families across Tameside and Manchester are welcome to visit.

- Care Home
Acacia Lodge Care Home is a residential care home in Manchester supporting older people, including people living with dementia and people with physical disabilities. We are a residential home rather than a nursing home, and that shapes the feel of the place. The emphasis is on daily life: meals, company, familiar routines, visitors, getting outside and having something worth being up for. Practical help with washing, dressing, medication and mobility runs alongside that rather than replacing it. Settling in is where a lot of our attention goes. Moving into a care home is a real loss for most people however necessary it is, and the first few weeks tend to set the tone for everything after. We take time over life histories, encourage people to bring their own furniture and pictures, and never hurry anybody into joining in. For people living with dementia we plan around familiarity: consistent staff, consistent routines, and an approach that goes alongside the person rather than arguing with them. Where somebody is unsettled we look first for a cause we can put right, including pain, noise, boredom or simply needing the toilet. Where mobility is poor we are careful that it does not turn into somebody being left in one chair all day. Respite stays are available for planned breaks. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is Good. Come and see us on an ordinary day in Manchester and make up your own mind about the place.

We at Brierfields are delighted to welcome you to our residential care home in Manchester, a warm and homely setting that offers person centred residential care within the Oldham community. Nestled in the North West, our home has become a trusted choice for families seeking compassionate, dependable support for their loved ones. Our surroundings have been thoughtfully arranged to feel calm, familiar, and reassuring. Situated within the M postcode area of Manchester, we benefit from being close to local amenities whilst offering a peaceful environment where residents can truly feel at home. Every corner of Brierfields is designed with comfort in mind, from communal lounges where friendships blossom over a cup of tea, to quieter spaces perfect for reading, reflecting, or spending time with visiting family. We understand that choosing a care home is one of the most important decisions a family can make, which is why we offer a broad range of specialisms tailored to individual needs. Our team supports older people with dignity and warmth, providing traditional residential care alongside dedicated dementia care for those living with memory loss. We also welcome residents requiring mental health support, offering a patient and understanding approach that helps each person feel valued and safe. For those living with a physical disability or with visual or hearing impairment, we adapt our care to promote independence, comfort, and confidence in daily life. Small adjustments, gentle encouragement, and consistent routines all combine to help residents feel capable and respected. We also offer respite care, providing short term stays that give family carers a well deserved break whilst ensuring their loved one receives the same quality of attention as our permanent residents. What this means in practice is a home where care is never one size fits all. Whether it is helping a resident enjoy a favourite hobby, supporting them at mealtimes, or simply sitting alongside them for a chat, our approach is built around who each person is, not just what they need. Families are always welcomed as partners in care, and we keep open, honest communication at the heart of everything we do. Our commitment to quality is reflected in our CQC Overall Rating of Good, awarded following inspection in February 2020. We were rated Good across every domain, including Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, and Well led. For families, this offers reassurance that Brierfields meets the standards expected of a trusted care provider and that our team continues to work with pride, professionalism, and genuine kindness. If you are considering care for someone dear to you, we warmly invite you to get in touch with Brierfields. Choosing a home is a deeply personal journey, and we would be honoured to walk that path with you, offering the comfort, companionship, and quality care your loved one deserves.

Here at Hulton Care Home, we provide residential and dementia care for older people, younger adults, and those living with a range of needs in the heart of Rochdale, Manchester. We are a place where residents are treated as individuals, and where the people who live with us genuinely feel at home. We understand that choosing a care home is one of the most significant decisions a family can make, and we do not take that trust lightly. From the moment someone walks through our doors, we want them and their loved ones to feel heard, respected, and properly looked after. Our team takes the time to get to know each resident, learning about their routines, preferences, and what matters most to them day to day. Our specialism in dementia care means we have built an environment and an approach that supports people living with memory conditions in a calm, familiar and consistent way. For younger adults who need residential support, we work hard to make sure life here feels meaningful and appropriate to their individual circumstances, not just a one size fits all approach. We want to be straightforward with people. Our most recent CQC rating reflects areas where we know we need to improve, and we are actively working through those areas with honesty and commitment. We believe families deserve to know where we stand, and we would rather have an open conversation about our progress than make promises we cannot back up. The work we are doing to raise our standards is ongoing, and we welcome scrutiny as part of that process. If you would like to visit, ask questions, or simply have a chat about whether Hulton Care Home might be the right fit for someone you care about, please do get in touch. We are always happy to talk.

Grove House Care Home is a residential care home in Chesterfield, Derbyshire. The people living here include older people, many of them living with dementia, along with younger adults, people managing mental health conditions and people living with an eating disorder. Respite stays are available. Because our residents need quite different things from us, support is planned with each person rather than run to a single pattern. People keep their own rooms, their own belongings and their own routines, and they decide how much of the day to spend in company and how much on their own. We ask about the small preferences in detail and expect our staff to follow them, since those details are most of what makes a place feel like home rather than an institution. For residents living with dementia, consistency helps more than anything. Familiar staff, routines that change only when there is a reason, and the patience to understand what somebody means when words have become unreliable. We work closely with mental health and health colleagues where that is part of somebody's support. We are registered with the Care Quality Commission and we are glad to be asked about our staffing, our training and how we handle concerns. If you are considering a care home in Chesterfield for yourself or someone close to you, you are welcome to visit, meet our staff and residents and ask us anything you like.

We are Springbank House Care Home in Chesterfield, Derbyshire. We provide residential care for older people, including those living with dementia, and we also support adults with learning disabilities, autistic adults, people with physical disabilities and younger adults. Respite stays are available. That is a wide range of needs under one roof, and it only works if we plan properly. Somebody who wants a sociable, busy day and somebody who needs quiet and an entirely predictable routine can both live well here, provided we pay attention to who needs what and when. So we ask, we observe, and we adapt rather than running everyone to the same timetable. The help itself covers personal care, medication, meals and mobility, and we are just as concerned with supporting what people can still do themselves. Independence lost unnecessarily is very hard to get back, and it is often what people fear most about moving in. For people living with dementia, the useful work is in the detail: knowing a person's history, recognising early what unsettles them, going at their pace. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Families and friends are welcome at any reasonable hour. Please ring us if you would like to look round.

Elm Lodge is a residential care home in Chesterfield, Derbyshire. We are home to older people and to younger adults who need support with everyday life, and a large part of our work is caring for people living with dementia. The support we give is residential rather than nursing. Staff are on duty day and night to help with personal care, dressing, medication and meals, and to keep the household running, while local doctors and district nurses look after clinical needs. For a great many people that is the right level of support, and it takes far less from their independence than a hospital or nursing setting would. Dementia care here comes down to consistency and to knowing the person. A day that runs in a familiar order, the same faces turning up, and surroundings that are easy to make sense of will settle somebody more surely than anything else. We take time to learn about a person's working life, their family and their habits, because that is what allows us to understand them when words become difficult. We also support younger adults who need residential care, and we plan around the fact that they are not looking for the same week as someone forty years older. Respite and short stays are available. Please ring us if you would like to look round Elm Lodge.

Here at Hazeldene House, we offer residential care for older people, those living with dementia, individuals with physical disabilities, and younger adults who need support with day to day living. We are based in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, and we welcome both long term residents and those joining us for a shorter respite stay. We know that choosing a care home is one of the biggest decisions a family can face, and we do not take that lightly. Our aim is straightforward: to make sure every person who lives here feels genuinely at home, respected, and well looked after. That means taking time to understand who someone is, not just what care they need. Their routines, preferences, and the things that matter to them all shape the way we support them each day. For those living with dementia, we work hard to create an environment that feels calm, familiar, and safe, where residents can move through their days with as much independence and comfort as possible. For younger adults and those with physical disabilities, we think carefully about how we can support a fulfilling and active life alongside the practical care we provide. Our team are straightforward, warm people who genuinely care about the individuals they work with. We invest in their training and make sure they have the time and knowledge to provide thoughtful, attentive support rather than just going through the motions. We are proud that our most recent Care Quality Commission inspection rated us as Good, and we see that as something to build on rather than rest on. If you would like to find out whether Hazeldene House could be the right place for your loved one, please do get in touch. We are always happy to have a chat or arrange a visit.

The Gables Retirement Home is in Chesterfield, Derbyshire. We offer older people a settled, permanent home, and we also provide respite stays for those who need care for a short period or whose family carer needs a break. We support some younger adults too. The help people need from us is mostly practical: getting up and dressed, a bath or a shower, moving about safely, medication given properly and on time, and meals worth looking forward to, with somebody nearby through the night. A good number of our residents are living with dementia, and we let that shape the whole house rather than treating it as a separate wing. The day follows a recognisable pattern, familiar staff are around, people keep their own belongings and habits, and somebody who is anxious gets company and time rather than correction. Days here run at a gentle pace. There is breakfast when people are ready for it, food cooked on the premises, newspapers, cards, music, visits from the hairdresser and time in the garden when the weather allows. Nobody is obliged to join in with anything. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please ring and arrange to come and look round.

We are a residential care home in Chesterfield supporting older people and younger adults who need help with daily living, including those living with dementia, people with mental health conditions and people with physical disabilities. Supporting that range means paying attention to individuals rather than to categories. Some of the people here need a good deal of help with personal care, medication and moving about. Others need much less of that and a great deal more support with everything else: keeping to arrangements, managing anxiety, getting out of the house and having staff who know when to step in and when to leave well alone. Residents keep their own rooms, belongings and routines as far as we can manage, and they decide how much they want to be part of whatever is happening. Meals are cooked here and we listen when somebody would rather have something different. Where somebody is living with dementia we spend time learning their history and habits, because knowing the person is what settles them when they are frightened. Family and friends are welcome whenever they wish to come. Respite stays are available as well as permanent places. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. Here at Durham House, we are a residential care home based in Chester le Street, County Durham, offering a warm and homely environment where the people in our care are treated with genuine respect and kindness. We support a wide range of needs, including older person care, residential care, dementia care, physical disability, care for younger adults, and respite care. This means we are well placed to help individuals and families who are navigating what can often be a significant and emotional transition. Whether someone is joining us on a short term respite basis or moving in permanently, we aim to make the experience as straightforward and reassuring as possible. Dementia care is an area we take particularly seriously. We understand how important it is for people living with dementia to feel safe, familiar with their surroundings, and understood by those supporting them. Our team works hard to get to know each resident as an individual, learning their history, preferences, and routines so that care feels personal rather than routine. We are also proud to support younger adults and people living with physical disabilities, recognising that care needs do not follow a single pattern and that every person deserves support that fits their own life. Our most recent Care Quality Commission rating is good, which we are pleased with, though we see it as a reflection of where we are rather than a ceiling for what we can achieve. Brackenlea is a residential care home in Winchester supporting older people, including those living with dementia, people managing mental health conditions and people with physical disabilities. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We are putting that at the top rather than the bottom, because a family looking at homes for a relative deserves to hear it from us rather than find it somewhere else. We know which areas were identified, work is under way on them, and we will talk anybody through what has actually changed. The daily work here is what residents judge us on. Getting somebody up in the way they prefer. Meals worth sitting down to. Company when it is wanted and quiet when it is not. Noticing early when a person is not themselves. For people living with dementia, keeping faces and routines steady and following their pace rather than ours. Where somebody lives with a mental health condition, working alongside community teams so that a hard stretch is met with patience. Respite stays give a family carer a planned break with support properly in place. Please come and visit on a normal day, speak to residents and relatives, and judge the home for yourself.

Culliford House is a residential care home in Dorchester for older people who need help with daily living. We support people living with dementia and people with mental health needs, and we offer respite stays as well as permanent places. We are a house rather than an institution and we work to keep it feeling that way. People bring their own furniture and photographs, keep their own hours, choose where to spend the day and get help with washing and dressing at their own pace and as privately as we can manage. Meals are cooked here with real choice at each one, and food matters a great deal to how people feel about a day. With dementia, knowing a person well is what makes the difference. We gather somebody's history with their family when they arrive and keep adding to it, so that staff respond to the person in front of them rather than to a set of behaviours, and we keep the rhythm of the day predictable. Where somebody is managing a mental health condition we try to be steady and clear, because people tell us consistency helps more than reassurance. We keep an eye on health without turning the place into a clinic, involve the surgery and community teams early, and tell families honestly what is happening, including when something has gone wrong. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated the home good overall.

- Care Home
Grassington House is a residential care home in Dorchester, Dorset, providing a settled home for older people who need support with daily living. We care for residents living with dementia, and we offer respite stays for people who need care for a shorter period or whose usual carer needs a rest. We aim for an ordinary life with good support behind it. Residents choose when they get up, how they spend their days and what they eat. Meals are cooked on the premises and preferences are remembered, down to how somebody takes their tea. There is company and activity for those who enjoy it and no pressure on anyone who would rather have peace. Dementia support runs through everything we do. We ask families to tell us about a person's life, their work, their music, their habits and their dislikes, because that knowledge is what allows staff to offer comfort that genuinely comforts. Familiar faces, calm surroundings and an unhurried pace do far more good than any rigid approach. We work closely with local GPs and community nurses so that changes in health are picked up early, and we keep families properly informed. Relatives are welcome whenever it suits them. The Care Quality Commission most recently rated us good overall. Please come and see the home for yourself.

- Care Home
Hazel Villa is a residential care home in Colchester, supporting older people and younger adults, including residents living with dementia and residents managing mental health conditions. We are a small home and we like it that way, because the sort of care we want to give depends on knowing people properly. Staff here recognise the small signals that tell them someone is unsettled, and they know what each resident likes, dislikes and worries about without having to look it up. The day runs comfortably rather than to a timetable. People get up when they are ready, eat food cooked here that is worth looking forward to, and spend their time in company or quietly as they prefer. Support with washing and dressing is given calmly and with dignity. For residents living with dementia, we keep routines familiar and take real trouble to learn a person's earlier life, because that knowledge is usually what allows us to settle someone who is anxious and makes ordinary conversation better too. Relatives are welcome throughout the day and we would much rather hear a concern from you early than discover it late. We also offer respite stays for shorter periods. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.

At Aveley Lodge, we provide residential and dementia care for older people in a warm and homely setting in Colchester, Essex. We are proud to have received a "Good" rating from the Care Quality Commission, which we feel reflects the genuine effort and thoughtfulness our team brings to every aspect of daily life here. We understand that moving into a care home is a significant step, both for the person coming to live with us and for their family. We take that responsibility seriously. From the moment someone comes through our door, we focus on getting to know them as an individual — their routines, their preferences, the things that matter most to them — so that the care we provide feels personal rather than routine. For those living with dementia, we know how important familiarity, consistency and a calm environment can be. We work hard to create a setting where residents feel safe and orientated, and where families feel confident that their loved one is truly known and looked after, not simply managed. Life at Aveley Lodge is about more than meeting care needs. We want residents to feel at home, to enjoy their days, and to maintain connections with the people and things they love. Whether that means a quiet cup of tea and a chat, joining in with activities, or simply having space to rest, we follow the lead of each person we support. We are always happy to welcome prospective residents and their families for a visit so that you can see for yourselves what daily life is like here. We believe the best way to understand who we are is simply to come and spend a little time with us. Please do get in touch — we would love to hear from you.

There is a particular kind of tiredness that comes from managing at home when managing has become too hard. A lot of the people who come to Waterhaven Place have been living with that for a while, and the first thing we try to give them is the sense that somebody else is carrying the weight now. We are a residential care home in Chichester. We support older people, including those living with dementia, and people with physical disabilities or with sight or hearing loss. Younger adults whose needs are best met in a residential setting are welcome as well. Everything here is built around ordinary life. Getting up when you are ready. Having something on your plate that you actually wanted. Keeping your own belongings, your own habits and your own opinions about the television. Where somebody can do a thing themselves, we support rather than take over, because independence given away is difficult to get back. For people living with dementia, consistency does most of the good. The same faces, the same room, the same shape to the day, and staff who neither hurry nor correct. Respite stays are available too, giving a family carer a planned break with proper support in place. Please get in touch if you would like to come and look around.

Castle View House is a residential care home in Rochester providing a home for older people and for younger adults who need support with daily living, including people living with dementia and people living with mental health conditions. We are not a large institution and we do not try to run like one. People keep their own routines as far as they can, which means breakfast when you wake rather than when a trolley arrives, and a day shaped around what a person actually enjoys. The care covers washing and dressing, medication, meals cooked here, mobility and the many small things that become difficult alone. For people living with dementia and for those managing mental health conditions, patience and familiarity achieve more than any amount of procedure. Our staff tend to stay with us, which means people here are looked after by faces they recognise, and that continuity counts for a great deal when memory or mood is unpredictable. Families are part of the household rather than visitors to be managed. Come when it suits you, join us for a meal, and tell us if you think we have got something wrong, because we would much rather know. Respite stays are available as well as permanent places. Grafton Lodge is a residential care home in Rochester, supporting older adults and some younger adults. We look after residents living with dementia and residents with a physical disability or a visual or hearing impairment, and we offer respite stays alongside permanent places. We should be straightforward about where we currently stand. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is Requires Improvement. We would rather set that out plainly than leave a family to find it elsewhere and wonder what else we had left unsaid. We understand what was identified, we are working through it, and we will discuss the detail with anyone who asks. What we are working towards is what a residential home should always rest on. Residents known properly as individuals rather than looked after as a group. A routine that belongs to the person rather than to the building. Staff settled enough that familiarity is real, which is what dementia care depends on more than anything. Accurate records and prompt, honest reporting when something goes wrong. The people living here remain our first concern throughout, and their families are entitled to honesty from us about the problems as well as the progress. If you are considering a place for a relative, come and visit, ask us hard questions, and judge the home on what you actually find rather than on what we have written here.

We are Lizbis Care Home, a residential care home in Rochester, Medway. We support older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia and people managing mental health conditions, and we also offer respite stays. Our intention is a home that runs around its residents. People choose when they get up, what they eat, how they spend the day and whether they want company or quiet. Rooms are personalised with people's own belongings, and families are welcome to visit throughout the day and to be involved in care as much as they wish. Dementia care is a significant part of our work, and we approach it with patience and consistency. Familiar faces, calm surroundings and staff who understand a person's history make a considerable difference to how settled somebody feels. We should be plain about where we stand. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We have taken those findings seriously, discussed them openly with our staff, our residents and their families, and we are working through them in an orderly way rather than looking for quick reassurance. We are happy to talk about what has been done and what is still outstanding. If you are considering a care home in the Rochester area, please come and visit us. Watts Healthcare is a residential care home in Rochester, Medway. We provide a home for older people who need support with daily living, for younger adults who need a supportive household, for people with physical disabilities and for people living with sight or hearing loss. Respite stays are available as well. What we aim for is an ordinary life with help attached rather than a routine everybody has to fit into. Residents decide when to get up, where to sit, whether they want company or quiet, and what they would like to eat. We help with personal care, dressing, medication and mobility, doing only as much as somebody actually needs, because taking over is easy and rarely useful. Dementia care is a large part of our work. The practical side of it is unglamorous: keeping the daily rhythm and surroundings consistent, giving somebody time to find their words instead of finishing their sentence, and knowing enough about earlier life to understand what a worry is really about. Families hold most of that knowledge, and we ask for it early. For residents with physical disabilities our attention goes to equipment that fits and transfers handled safely and without embarrassment. For those living with sight or hearing loss, unhurried communication makes most of the difference. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Come and see us on an ordinary afternoon and ask us whatever you like.

- Care Home
The Cottage Residential Care Home is a residential care home in Colchester, Essex. We support people living with dementia, adults with a learning disability and autistic adults, people living with mental health conditions and people with a physical disability, and we offer respite stays for those who need care for a shorter period. We are a small setting and that shapes how we work. Staff know everyone here properly, so a change in somebody's mood or health tends to be noticed early rather than once it has become a problem. Routines matter to many of the people we support, so we hold to them and we explain changes in good time and in a way each person can follow. Care plans are written with the person and with whoever they want involved, and we revisit them when life changes rather than when a form falls due. Where somebody needs support to make a decision, we give it in the form that works for them and we take the time it takes rather than deciding on their behalf because that would be quicker. Colchester is home for most of our residents and we help them keep up with family, appointments and the places they already know. Visitors are welcome here and we would rather families felt part of the house than treated as guests. If you are considering The Cottage for someone, please come and visit, meet the team and form your own view of the house on an ordinary day.

Nestled within the historic town of Rochester in the ME postcode area, our home benefits from the charm of one of Kent's most characterful communities. The setting offers residents the comfort of familiar surroundings whilst remaining well connected for visiting family and friends. We aim to create an atmosphere that feels less like an institution and more like a genuine home, where daily life is shaped by the people who live here. Our specialisms centre on older person care, residential care, dementia care, and respite. For those living with dementia, this means a supportive routine, gentle encouragement, and staff who take time to understand each individual's history, preferences, and personality. For families considering respite, we offer short stays that can provide reassurance during a holiday, hospital recovery, or simply a break for a loved one who usually cares at home. Our residential care is built around dignity, companionship, and the small daily kindnesses that make later life feel meaningful. We understand that choosing a care home is one of the most significant decisions a family can make. That is why openness matters to us. We view this feedback as an important part of our ongoing journey to raise standards, and we are committed to listening, learning, and building on the compassionate care that residents and relatives already value. If you are exploring care options in Rochester for an older relative, whether for permanent residence, dementia support, or a short respite break, we warmly invite you to get in touch. Speaking with us, visiting the home, and meeting the people who live and work here is the best way to see whether Chimnies could be the right next chapter for someone you love.

- Care Home
We are The Old Malthouse, a residential care home in Chichester. We care for older people, including many living with dementia, people with a physical disability, and people with a visual or hearing impairment. We have tried to keep the feel of a house rather than an institution. People bring their own furniture and pictures, come down when they wake rather than when a rota says so, and spend their days as they please. Some like the sitting room and the conversation that goes with it, others prefer their own room with the radio on, and neither choice needs explaining. Dementia care takes patience and it takes knowing the person. We spend time learning about the work somebody did, the family they raised and the routines that settle them. We do not argue about what year it is. We meet people where they are and find something good to do together. Where somebody has a visual or hearing impairment, we make sure every member of staff knows how that person prefers to be approached and spoken with. Small things, done consistently, make an enormous difference. We keep families informed and would rather ring early about a small worry. Visitors are welcome whenever suits them. Respite stays are available as well as permanent places. Our most recent CQC overall rating is good. Please get in touch to arrange a visit.

- Care Home
The Bill House is a residential care home in Chichester, West Sussex. We support older people, people living with dementia, adults managing mental ill health and younger adults, and we offer respite stays for people who need care for a short period. We keep things homely and unhurried. People get up when they want to, eat what they actually like and spend their days as suits them, whether that is joining in with what is going on or sitting somewhere quiet with the paper. Our staff know the people here, which means they can tell the difference between someone having a quiet day and someone becoming unwell. Supporting people with dementia and people with mental health needs under one roof takes care and consistency. We give staff proper training, we keep routines steady, and we pay attention to the things that unsettle individuals rather than applying one approach to everybody. Where someone's needs change, we involve their GP and the local community teams early. Chichester is on the doorstep and we use it. Trips out, visits from family and friends, and keeping up with the things people have always done are all part of how we work, not extras bolted on. Relatives are welcome and are listened to. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. If you would like to look round, we are glad to show you.

Arranging and funding a dementia care home place in Chester
How these homes are registered
All one hundred and thirty five providers matching this search in Chester are residential care homes. That registration shapes everything else. It means the people on duty are care staff trained to support daily living, washing, dressing, meals, medication prompting and the familiar routines that help keep someone with dementia oriented, rather than registered nurses delivering clinical care on the premises. Health needs are met by visiting district nurses and the person's own GP. Where the clinical picture is already complicated, with wound care, assisted feeding or an unstable long term condition in play, a home carrying a nursing registration is the better comparison to make.
Reading the regulator's record properly
Quality across these homes is genuinely uneven. Care Quality Commission ratings of Outstanding, Good, Requires Improvement and Inadequate are all present in this set, and some homes have no rating yet, which reflects where they sit in the inspection cycle rather than anything about the care itself. A single headline word is a starting point and not a verdict. The five domain judgements underneath it, covering whether a home is safe, effective, caring, responsive and well led, carry the detail that actually helps, and for dementia the caring and responsive domains tend to say most. A home marked down over record keeping is a very different proposition from one where inspectors raised concerns about overnight staffing.
What to notice when you visit
Ask to come in the late afternoon, when tiredness and confusion often peak and a home is seen at its most honest. Watch whether staff crouch to eye level and use residents' names, whether there is anything occupying people beyond a television left on, and whether someone can walk a circuit safely without being steered back to a chair. A settled staff team matters more than new decor, because familiar faces reduce distress in a way that furnishings never will. Ask plainly how the home responds when a resident becomes distressed or tries to leave, and listen for a considered answer rather than a reassuring one.
Choosing between dementia care homes in Chester
Beginning with a care needs assessment
The practical starting point is a care needs assessment, and Cheshire West and Chester Council is the authority responsible for providing one to anyone in Chester who appears to need care and support. The assessment is free and is not means tested, and it produces a written account of what the person needs that remains useful even to a family intending to pay privately. A relative providing regular support can request a separate carer's assessment of their own needs at the same time.
Who pays, and the cost context to expect
A financial assessment follows, in which capital and income are measured against the national means test thresholds. Above the upper capital limit a placement is paid for privately; below it the council contributes a calculated share, and someone funding their own care may still ask the council to arrange the placement on their behalf. Dementia care usually costs more than standard residential care, because the staffing ratios and specialist training required are higher, so ask every home for a written schedule of fees setting out exactly what is included and what is billed separately. Confirm in writing what would happen if savings run down or needs increase, and ask whether the home accepts council funded placements at all, since that answer prevents a great deal of wasted effort later.
Frequently asked questions about dementia care homes in Chester
How many dementia care homes are there in Chester?
Chester has 140 CQC registered care homes that are registered for dementia care, out of 320 CQC registered care homes in Chester: 6 Outstanding, 103 Good, 20 Requires improvement, 2 Inadequate, 9 not yet rated. Counts come from the CQC register and are kept up to date as ratings change.
Which dementia care homes in Chester were inspected most recently?
Chimnies Residential Care Home (22 September 2026), Milton Lodge Retirement Home (19 August 2026) and Dovecote View Chichester (10 August 2026) have the most recent CQC reports.
Which providers in Chester offer dementia care?
140 residential care homes in Chester match this search for dementia care, and each one appears in the listing above with its own profile. Every provider in the set is registered as a residential care home, meaning personal care and daily support rather than nursing delivered on site. Their Care Quality Commission ratings vary considerably, from Outstanding through to Inadequate, with some homes not yet rated. Opening each profile lets you compare the registration details and the inspection history side by side before you contact anyone.
What should I ask when visiting a dementia care home in Chester?
Ask how many staff are on duty overnight as well as during the day, and how long the current team has been in post. Ask what happens when a resident becomes distressed, tries to leave, or refuses personal care, and ask for a specific example rather than a policy statement. Find out how care plans are written with families and how often they are revisited as someone's needs change. It is also worth asking what a typical afternoon looks like, since meaningful occupation makes a measurable difference to wellbeing in dementia.
How does a dementia care home differ from a dementia nursing home?
A residential dementia care home provides personal care, supervision and support with everyday living, delivered by trained care staff. Nursing needs in that setting are met by visiting community health professionals such as district nurses and the person's GP. A dementia nursing home, by contrast, has registered nurses on duty around the clock and is registered to deliver clinical care itself, which suits people with complex or unstable health conditions. All the providers matching this search in Chester are residential care homes, so anyone needing continuous nursing input should compare nursing registered homes instead.
Can Cheshire West and Chester Council fund a dementia care home placement?
It can, where the care needs assessment identifies eligible needs and the financial assessment shows that capital and income fall below the national upper threshold. The council then contributes a calculated share of the fees, with the resident paying an assessed contribution from income and capital. Above the upper capital limit the placement is self funded, although the council can still be asked to arrange it. Where nursing care forms part of the package, NHS funded nursing care may cover the nursing element separately, so it is sensible to ask about both routes.
How do I arrange a care needs assessment in Chester?
Contact the adult social care team at Cheshire West and Chester Council and ask for a care needs assessment, which anyone who appears to need care and support is entitled to request. A referral can also come through a GP, a hospital discharge team or a community nurse, and a family member can make the request on someone's behalf. The assessment itself is free and carries no means test, and it results in a written record of eligible needs. Ask at the same time for a carer's assessment if a relative is providing regular support.
How far ahead should we start looking for dementia care in Chester?
Several months ahead is sensible wherever the move is foreseeable rather than urgent, because the best regarded homes often have waiting lists and a rushed decision narrows the options sharply. Starting early also leaves room to visit more than once, at different times of day, which is where the most useful impressions come from. Where a hospital discharge or a carer's own illness forces the pace, say so clearly when requesting the assessment, as that affects how quickly it is arranged. Even in an urgent situation it is worth reading the full inspection report on any home before agreeing to a placement.
