About Us
The Old Vicarage Care Home is a residential care home in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, providing a permanent home and short stays for adults who need help with everyday living.
We care for older people and for younger adults, and those living here have a range of needs. Some need help with personal care, mobility or medication. Many are living with dementia, and for them we keep the surroundings calm and familiar and give people time to respond. We also support residents managing mental health conditions, people living with a physical disability and people with a visual or hearing impairment, adjusting how we communicate and how the house is used so that nobody is left out of what is going on.
Respite stays are available, whether a family carer needs a planned break or someone needs looking after for a few weeks after being unwell.
We should be open about our regulator. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We do not think that is good enough. We have taken it seriously, there is work under way to put things right, and we would rather discuss that plainly with families than have them come across it later.
If you are considering The Old Vicarage, please come and see it. Walk round properly, talk to the staff and to the people living here, and ask us the questions you actually want answered. Ring us and we will arrange a time.
