About East Fields
East Fields is a residential care home in Chesterfield supporting adults with a learning disability and autistic adults. We also offer respite stays. The people who live here have their own rooms, their own belongings and their own way of running a day, and the support fits around that rather than the other way round. That sounds simple, and it is, but it takes consistent effort to protect when staff change and pressures build. We plan support around what each person wants to be able to do, not just around keeping them safe. Cooking, shopping, managing money, using transport, holding down college, work or activities during the week, and keeping up with family and friends. Where someone needs a great deal of help, we still look hard for the parts they can take on, because independence disappears quietly if nobody is paying attention. Communication and environment get careful thought. We learn how each person expresses themselves, including those who use little or no speech, and we adapt to them rather than expecting them to adapt to us. Noise, lighting, predictability and having somewhere quiet to retreat to all shape how good a day somebody has, and we treat those as part of the care rather than as decoration. Respite stays give families a break and give the person staying a change of scene in a place set up for them. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is outstanding. We are pleased with it and we know it has to be earned again every day. Please come and visit.
