Highgrove House is a residential care home in Chorley, caring for older people who can no longer manage safely at home. We aim for the feel of a household rather than an institution, with people keeping their own routines, their own belongings and a genuine say in how their day goes. We support people living with dementia, and that work depends on continuity above all. Knowing what somebody's day used to look like, keeping as much of it as we can and understanding what sits behind distress rather than simply managing it is what makes the difference between a settled day and a difficult one. Respite stays are available too, whether somebody needs care for a short period after illness or a family carer needs a proper break. We plan short stays with the same attention as a permanent move, so nobody arrives feeling temporary. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We take that as the standard to hold rather than an achievement to rest on. The better test is the everyday evidence, whether people are up and occupied, whether mealtimes are sociable and whether relatives feel able to raise a concern early. Anyone considering Highgrove House is welcome to visit and see for themselves.

- Care Home
We are a residential home for older people in Preston, caring for people who need help with daily living, including those living with dementia, people with physical disabilities and younger adults who need support. Our aim is a settled house where help is close at hand without taking over somebody's life. Residents keep their own rooms, belongings and routines as far as we can manage, and they decide how much they want to be part of whatever is happening. Where someone needs help with washing, dressing or moving about, we try to give it without hurry and without doing more of the task than is actually needed. Dementia care rests on knowing the person rather than following a procedure, so we ask families to tell us about working life, children, music, faith and old habits. That knowledge is worth more than any written plan when somebody is frightened or cannot place where they are. Respite stays are available as well as permanent places. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission was requires improvement. We would rather tell you that ourselves than leave you to find it elsewhere. We are working through the points the inspectors raised, and if you are considering the home for someone close to you we will go through the report with you and answer whatever you want to ask. Please come and see the place as it really is and talk to the people who live here.

Butler House is a residential care home in Thornton Cleveleys supporting adults with a learning disability, autistic adults and people with mental health needs, including many younger adults. This is a home for people with plans of their own rather than somewhere to be looked after and left. We support people to do as much for themselves as they can and want to, whether that is cooking, sorting out their own washing, managing money, using local buses, keeping a course or a job going, or simply deciding how their own day runs. Where a lot of help is needed we give it without fuss, and where somebody wants us to step back we do that too. Because the people living here have very different needs, we plan support individually and we pay close attention to how each person communicates, what unsettles them and what helps them settle again. A quiet place to go when the house feels busy matters as much as anything in a care plan. For residents with mental health needs we keep the household calm and predictable and work closely with local services and doctors. Respite stays are available, giving family carers a proper break and the person a change of scene. Families and advocates are kept as involved as the person wants. If you would like to come and see the house, please get in touch.

Hedges House is a residential care home in Lytham St Annes providing care for older people, including those living with dementia, people with a physical disability and people with sight or hearing loss. We are a home rather than an institution, and we run the place accordingly. People keep their own routines as far as possible, have their own room and their own belongings, and are supported to carry on doing whatever they still manage for themselves. Staff help with washing and dressing, with transfers and moving safely, with medication and with meals and drinks, and they do it without hurrying anybody. For those living with dementia we keep the day predictable and the surroundings familiar, adjust how we communicate rather than expecting the person to adjust to us, and treat distress as something to be understood. Where sight or hearing has declined, consistent small adjustments make a large difference, so we make sure the whole team works in the same way. Meals are cooked here with a genuine choice. There is company for those who want it and quiet for those who do not, and visitors are welcome without ceremony. Respite and short stays can be arranged. If you would like to look round, please telephone us and we will arrange a time that suits you.

- Care Home
Lakeview Rest Homes is a residential care home in Lytham St Annes, Lancashire. We are home to older people who need support with daily life, including many living with dementia, and we offer respite stays for people recovering from illness or giving a family carer a break. Moving into a home usually follows a difficult period, so we take the settling in slowly. We ask about the routines somebody has kept for years, the food they actually like, how they take their tea and whether they would rather be up early or have a lie in, and we build around that rather than expecting people to adapt to us. Rooms hold people's own furniture and photographs, and we knock before we come in. Days here are not heavily organised. Company, conversation and a walk out for those who want it, the newspaper and quiet for those who do not. For residents living with dementia, familiarity does most of the work, so we keep our team settled and learn each person's history properly, which is what allows us to make sense of what they are telling us. When somebody is distressed we look for the reason behind it. We work with local GPs and community nurses so health changes are picked up early, and families are kept properly informed. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. Please come and look round.

- Care Home
Ashleigh Rest Home is in Preston, providing residential care for older people who can no longer manage comfortably on their own. We are a small home and have no wish to be anything else, because it means the team genuinely know the people who live here, their routines, their families and what makes a day go well or badly. We support people living with dementia, where continuity and patience achieve more than anything else we could offer. Knowing what somebody's day used to look like and keeping as much of it as we can matters more than any amount of written planning. Our approach otherwise is straightforward. People keep their own habits and belongings and as much independence as they want. Meals and company matter a great deal here, so we put real effort into both. Respite stays are available too, for people needing care for a short period and for family carers who need a break. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. The better test is whether people here seem settled. Please come and see for yourself.

Rowandale is a residential care home in Chorley supporting adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, people living with a physical disability and people with sight or hearing loss, and we also care for people living with dementia. Our starting point is always the individual. We spend time learning how somebody communicates, what they enjoy, what unsettles them and what helps them settle again, and we make sure the whole team understands those things in the same way. Consistency is what allows a person to relax, and it is also what lets us notice early when something is not right. The day here belongs to the people who live in the house. People get up when they are ready, spend their time on things that genuinely interest them and keep as much charge of their own routine as they want. Where somebody is working towards more independence, we look for the practical steps and go at their pace. Respite stays are available as well, for people who need support for a short period and for families who need a break. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. What tells us more is whether people here look relaxed. Visitors are always welcome.

- Care Home
The Willows Residential Care Home is in Thornton Cleveleys, supporting adults with a learning disability and autistic adults. We also offer respite stays. We run this as a household rather than a service with bedrooms attached. People choose how their rooms look, what they eat, when they get up and how much of the day they spend in company. Those choices are not an extra laid on top of the care. They are most of what makes a place worth living in, and they take consistent effort to protect when staff change and pressures build. Support is planned around what each person wants to be able to do rather than only around risk. Cooking, shopping, managing money, using the bus, getting to college, work or activities, and keeping up with family and friends. Where somebody needs a great deal of help, we still look hard for the parts they can take on themselves, because independence disappears quietly unless someone is watching for it. Communication and environment get real attention. We learn how each person tells us what they want, including those who use little or no speech, and we adjust to them rather than the reverse. Noise, lighting, predictability and having somewhere quiet to retreat to all shape how a day turns out. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Direct Approach Care is a residential care home in Preston, and we support a broader group of people than most residential homes take on. Older people who need help with daily living, including those living with dementia. Adults with learning disabilities and autistic people. Adults living with mental ill health. People with physical disabilities. Younger adults. Respite stays are available as well. A mixed household only works if people are genuinely treated as individuals rather than as categories, and that is how we try to run the place. Support is agreed with the person, written in terms they recognise, and reviewed as circumstances move. Some residents need a great deal of hands on help with washing, dressing, medication and mobility. Others mainly want stability, company when they choose it, and a house that holds steady through a difficult week. For autistic people, predictability is a need rather than a nicety, so we explain changes in advance and keep staffing consistent. For residents living with dementia, we keep routines and surroundings familiar and give people time instead of hurrying them along. We have not yet had an overall rating published by the Care Quality Commission. We think it is better to say that ourselves and let you judge us on how openly we answer your questions. Anyone considering a move here, for themselves or for somebody they support, is welcome to visit and take their time over the decision.

Primrose Bank is a residential care home in Poulton Le Fylde, Lancashire. We are home to older people, including many living with dementia, and we offer respite stays. We try to run an ordinary household rather than a rota. People wake when they wake, eat when they are hungry, and an afternoon with nothing arranged in it is a perfectly good afternoon. There is a habit in this sector of confusing busyness with quality and we work at avoiding it. Dementia care here depends on knowing the person. We ask relatives early for the working life, the places, the music and the names, because that information is much harder to gather later and it is what still connects when a good deal else has gone. Food gets more thought than people expect. Appetite is often the first thing to go, and a meal that arrives cold, or at a time nobody is hungry, or needing help that has not arrived, quietly becomes a meal not eaten. The Care Quality Commission rates us good overall. Come at a mealtime and watch whether anybody is waiting for help to eat.

Here at Castleford Home for Older People, we are proud to be part of the close knit community of Clitheroe, Lancashire, offering a warm and homely environment where residents can feel genuinely settled and supported. We provide residential care and older person care at the heart of what we do, and we also have real experience supporting people living with dementia, those with physical disabilities, younger adults, and individuals who need short term respite care. We understand that every person who comes through our doors has their own story, their own routines, and their own preferences, and we work hard to make sure that is always reflected in the care we provide. Our approach is straightforward. We take time to get to know each resident properly, not just their care needs but who they are as a person. Whether someone is joining us permanently or staying for a short while to recover or give a family carer some breathing space, we want them to feel comfortable and at home from day one. We were pleased to receive a rating of "good" from the Care Quality Commission at our most recent inspection, and we see that as an honest reflection of the everyday effort our team puts in. It also keeps us motivated to maintain those standards and to keep improving where we can. Our location in Clitheroe means residents can enjoy the character of a traditional Lancashire market town, with easy access for family and friends visiting from the surrounding area. We believe staying connected to the community and to loved ones makes a real difference to wellbeing. If you would like to find out more about life at Castleford Home for Older People, we would be very happy to have a conversation or welcome you for a visit.

Westholme is a residential care home in Lytham St Annes. We support older people and younger adults with a wide range of needs, including dementia, mental ill health, physical disabilities, sight and hearing loss, a learning disability or autism, and eating disorders. Our staff are used to supporting people whose needs do not fit neatly into one category, and we plan for each person rather than running the house to a single routine. Before somebody moves in we ask how they have always run their day, what they want help with and what they would much rather do themselves, and we write it down so staff follow the person. Where dementia is part of the picture we keep routines steady and faces familiar. Where mental ill health or difficulties around eating are involved, we keep close contact with health teams, avoid making mealtimes a battleground, and involve the person properly in decisions about their own care. Where somebody communicates differently, we learn how before we begin. Meals are cooked on the premises and adapted where they need to be. Visitors are welcome whenever they want to come. Penwortham Grange and Lodge in Preston offers both residential and nursing care, with qualified nurses on duty at all times. We care for older people and younger adults, including many people living with dementia, and we offer respite stays as well as permanent places. Having both kinds of care on one site matters more than it may sound. When somebody's health changes, they do not necessarily have to move away and start over with strangers, and that continuity is worth a great deal to people and to their families. Nursing here means steady attention to the things that keep a person comfortable and well: medicines, mobility, nutrition and hydration, skin, continence and pain, reviewed properly and discussed with the person and their family rather than handled quietly in the background. We involve GPs, district nurses and specialists early rather than late. Around that, ordinary life carries on. People rise when they wake, keep their own furniture and photographs about them, choose where to spend the day and eat food that suits their taste as well as any clinical need. With dementia we rely on knowing somebody well, so we gather a person's history with their family and keep adding to it. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall.

Church View Residential Home is a residential care home in Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, providing a home for older people who need support with everyday living. People come to us for different reasons. For some, looking after a house had become too much. For others, an illness or a fall changed what was realistic. Whatever brought somebody here, our aim is that they come to think of this as their home. Residents bring their own belongings, keep their own routines and decide how their days go, while our staff look after what has become difficult, including personal care, medication, meals and laundry. A number of the people living with us have dementia. What helps most is keeping things familiar, giving people time to answer, and knowing enough about someone's life to be genuine company rather than merely efficient. Respite stays are available, whether a family carer needs a planned break or somebody needs support for a few weeks after being unwell. We should be open with you about our regulator. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We do not think that is good enough. We have taken it seriously, there is work under way to put things right, and we would rather say so plainly than leave families to find out later. Please come and see Church View for yourself. Ring us, arrange a time, look round properly and ask us the difficult questions.

Blackburn Road is a residential care home in Blackburn, Lancashire. We support older people and younger adults with mental health needs, and we offer respite stays alongside longer placements. We are a house rather than a unit, and we work to keep that distinction real. People here have their own rooms and their own routines and a genuine say in how the household runs, from meals to the shape of the week. For many people arriving with us, simply having somewhere settled and unhurried to be is most of what helps. What we provide is stability and attention: support with medication and appointments, help with the practical parts of the day, and staff who are around, familiar and quick to notice when somebody is finding things harder than usual. Beyond that we follow the person's lead. People come to us at very different points, and progress does not run to anybody else's timetable. We work alongside community mental health teams, social workers, GPs and families. Where somebody is working towards more independent living, we support that in practical steps, from cooking and budgeting to travel and managing a tenancy, at their pace rather than ours. People here are encouraged to keep a life outside the house as well. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Here at Aadamson House Care Home, we provide a warm and supportive home for the people who live with us in Preston, Lancashire. We genuinely care about the individuals who come through our doors, and everything we do is shaped around making sure each person feels respected, comfortable and truly at home. We support a wide range of needs, including older person care, residential care, dementia care, physical disability, and visual and hearing impairment. We also welcome younger adults who require care and support. Because our residents come to us with such varied backgrounds and needs, we work hard to understand each person as an individual, not just as a set of care requirements. Getting to know someone properly takes time, and we think that investment is what good care really looks like in practice. For those living with dementia, we know how important familiarity, routine and a calm environment can be. Our team works closely with residents and their families to make sure that care is tailored and consistent, and that people feel safe and understood even on more difficult days. We are proud to hold a rating of "good" from the Care Quality Commission, which reflects the genuine effort our team puts in day after day. We do not take that recognition for granted, and we continue to look at how we can improve and grow. Families often tell us that the thing they value most is being kept in the loop and feeling welcome whenever they visit. We believe that care works best when it extends beyond the individual to include the people who love them. If you would like to find out more about life at Aadamson House, or if you are considering care for a loved one, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us. We are always happy to talk things through.

Here at Meadow Croft Care Home, we provide residential care for people in Preston, Lancashire, and the surrounding communities. Our doors are open to a wide range of individuals, including older adults, younger adults, and people living with dementia, mental health conditions, physical disabilities, and visual or hearing impairments. We also offer respite care for those who need a short term stay, whether that is to recover after a spell in hospital or to give a family carer some well earned rest. We understand that choosing a care home is one of the most significant decisions a person and their family can make. It is not something anyone takes lightly, and we do not treat it lightly either. From the very first conversation, we aim to be straightforward and honest about what we offer and whether we are the right fit for the person who needs care. Day to day life here is shaped by the people who live with us. We pay close attention to individual routines, preferences, and personal histories, because we believe that good care is deeply personal. Whether someone needs a great deal of support or a lighter touch, we work to make sure each person feels comfortable, respected, and genuinely at home. Our team works closely with residents, families, and healthcare professionals to make sure care plans reflect changing needs over time. Communication is something we take seriously, and we encourage families to stay involved and ask questions whenever they wish to. We are based in Preston and proud to be part of this community. If you are considering care for yourself or someone close to you, we warmly welcome you to get in touch or come and visit us. Seeing the home for yourself is always the best way to get a real sense of who we are.

Swillbrook House Residential Home is in Preston, providing residential care for older people who can no longer manage safely on their own, and supporting people living with a physical disability, people with sight or hearing loss and younger adults. We also support people living with eating disorders. We aim for the feel of a household rather than an institution, with people keeping their own routines, their own belongings and a genuine say in how their day goes. We support people living with dementia, where a steady and familiar routine is worth more than anything else we could offer, and where understanding what sits behind distress matters more than simply managing it. Respite stays are available too, for people who need care for a short period after illness and for family carers who need a proper break. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. The better test is the everyday evidence, whether people are up and occupied, whether mealtimes are sociable and whether relatives feel able to raise a concern early.

Royal Care Home is in St Annes On Sea, providing residential care for older people who can no longer manage safely on their own. We aim for the feel of a household rather than an institution, with people keeping their own routines, their own belongings and a genuine say in how their day goes. We support people living with dementia, and that work depends on continuity above all. Knowing what somebody's day used to look like and keeping as much of it as we can matters more than any amount of written planning. Respite stays are available too, for people who need care for a short period and for family carers who need a break. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission was requires improvement. We would rather put that in front of you ourselves than leave you to find it elsewhere. We have worked through the findings and our attention has gone to the things that shape daily life here rather than to paperwork alone. Hulton Care Home is a residential care home in Nelson, Lancashire. We are home to older people, including many living with dementia, and to younger adults who need residential support, and we take respite bookings for short stays. We are a home of a size where everyone knows everyone. That sounds like a small thing and it is not. It means our team notices when someone eats less than usual, sleeps badly or goes quiet, and can act on it the same day rather than a fortnight later at a review meeting. People decide how their own day goes. When to get up, what to wear, whether to sit in the lounge or stay in their room, what they want on their plate. Rooms are furnished with people's own things because a familiar chair and familiar pictures do more for someone settling in than anything we could buy. For residents living with dementia we keep the surroundings calm and consistent, use what we know of the person's life to make sense of what they are telling us, and avoid the sort of well meaning correction that only causes distress. Health needs are looked after with local GPs and community nurses, and families hear from us as a matter of routine rather than only when something goes wrong. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. Do come and visit us in Nelson before you make any decision.

Beacon View is a residential care home in Skelmersdale, Lancashire, for older people who need daily support that can no longer be managed at home. We also support adults with a learning disability, autistic adults and younger adults, and we offer respite stays for those needing a shorter period of care. Our residents include people living with dementia, and for them we work at their pace and in their world rather than insisting on ours. Familiar routines, familiar staff and a calm setting do more good than correction, and knowing who somebody has always been is usually the key to reaching them on a difficult day. Help with washing, dressing, medication, mobility and meals is available whenever it is wanted, and offered rather than imposed. Whatever a person can still do for themselves, they should, and our job is to keep that possible for as long as we can rather than quietly taking it over. People keep their own belongings and routines and decide how they spend their time. Families are part of how this house works. Visitors come at times that suit them, we keep relatives informed rather than waiting to be asked, and we are straightforward when something has gone wrong as well as when things have gone well. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you are looking at residential care in this part of Lancashire, please arrange to visit and meet the people who live here.

Mansard House is a care home in Preston, Lancashire. We provide residential care for adults with a learning disability, autistic adults and people with mental health needs, as well as for older people, and we offer respite stays for people who need care for a short while. The house is run around the people who live in it. Each person has their own support plan, written with them and in terms they understand, covering not just what help they need but what they want their week to contain. Work, college, the gym, family visits, the football, a quiet routine at home, all of it counts and all of it is worth protecting. Our team knows the people here properly, including how each person communicates when they are worried, unwell or fed up. That knowledge is what lets us step in early and gently, and it is why we work hard to keep staffing consistent rather than filling gaps with whoever is available. We are careful about anything that limits a person's freedom. Where a restriction is genuinely needed for safety it is agreed properly, recorded and reviewed, and we look constantly for ways to reduce it. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us outstanding overall. We were pleased, and we treat it as a standard to keep meeting rather than a badge to display. Families, advocates and professionals are welcome to visit and see the house at work.

Barley View is a residential care home in Rochdale. We care for older people and younger adults, including residents living with dementia, people managing mental health conditions, people with a physical disability and people with a visual or hearing impairment. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places. As a residential setting our work is daily life supported well, with community health professionals involved when someone needs them. What we aim for is a house where people are known rather than managed, which sounds obvious and takes discipline because the pressures of a rota pull the other way. It means unrushed help with washing and dressing, medication given reliably, food worth looking forward to and staff who notice when a resident is quieter than usual. For people living with dementia we keep the routine predictable and the faces familiar, and we ask relatives for the details of a life that no assessment captures. Where sight or hearing is poor we check aids are working and adapt how we communicate. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.

The Bungalow is a residential care home in Preston in Lancashire. We support adults with learning disabilities, autistic adults and younger adults, and we offer respite stays for people who live elsewhere. Being a small setting is the point rather than a limitation. Everybody knows everybody, there is nowhere for a person to get lost in a system, and we can genuinely arrange the week around four or five people's actual preferences instead of finding a compromise nobody wanted. People have their own rooms set up as they like, decide how their days go, and have a real voice in how the house runs. A good deal of what we do builds skills rather than doing things for people. Cooking, handling money, travelling, making an appointment, keeping in touch with family. Progress can be slow and it can go backwards, and our part is to keep the opportunity open without pressure and to make something of it when it works. Understanding how each person communicates matters more than almost anything else here, particularly where speech is not the main route. We learn each person's way, write it down so that new staff respond identically, and keep checking that we have understood rather than assuming. The Care Quality Commission rated us good at our most recent inspection. We are pleased with it and we keep asking the people living here what should change.

Jalna Residential Care Home is a care home in Burnley, Lancashire, providing residential care for older people and for younger adults. We also welcome guests for respite stays. We are a residential home and we keep the scale domestic. People here are not processed through a routine; they keep their own habits, choose how they spend the day, and are helped with washing, dressing, medication and getting about in whatever way suits them best. Meals are proper meals, and mealtimes are sociable for those who want company and quiet for those who do not. What makes a home work is a team that stays. When carers know somebody well, they notice quickly when things change, they know how to lift a low mood, and families do not have to keep explaining the same things to new faces. Relatives and friends are welcome, and we keep in touch with them honestly, including when our news is not what anybody hoped to hear. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you are looking at residential care in Burnley for yourself or for someone in your family, please arrange to come in. Greenways is a residential care home in Preston supporting older people, including those living with dementia. We offer permanent places and respite stays. A good day here looks unremarkable from the outside, and that is deliberate. Somebody gets up at the hour that suits them and is helped to wash and dress the way they have always done it. Breakfast is something they actually wanted. There is a newspaper, or the radio, or a conversation, depending on who they are. Somebody notices that a resident is quieter than usual and sits down with them rather than walking past. For people living with dementia, the constants do most of the good. Familiar faces, a predictable shape to the day, meals at the times the body expects, and staff who neither hurry nor correct. We build around what a person can still do rather than keeping a tally of what has gone. Families usually know the thing that turns a hard week around, so we ask and we listen. Respite stays give a family carer a break that is genuinely a break. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please come and visit on an ordinary day.

Mercer Moors is a nursing and residential setting in Accrington in Lancashire. We care for older people and younger adults, including people who need nursing support, people living with dementia, people with physical disabilities and people living with sight or hearing loss. Respite stays are available too. Being able to offer both residential and nursing care under one roof matters more than it sounds. It means somebody whose health changes does not automatically have to move, and that a person can stay among people and surroundings they know at exactly the point that continuity counts for most. Families frequently tell us this was the thing that mattered to them in the end. Having qualified nurses on site means wounds, pain, continence, nutrition, medication and safe movement are all managed properly, and a good deal that might otherwise involve hospital does not have to. We also guard against clinical care quietly reducing a person to a round of tasks. People choose when they get up, what they wear, what is on the plate and how the afternoon goes. We knock, we explain what we are about to do, and we wait to be told it is all right. Where sight or hearing loss is part of the picture the small habits carry the weight. We have not yet been given an overall rating by the Care Quality Commission. You are welcome to visit and ask us whatever you need to.

Here at The Yachtsman Care Home, we are proud to be part of the Fleetwood community in Lancashire, offering a warm and welcoming place that our residents genuinely call home. We provide residential care, dementia care, respite care and older person care, meaning we are well placed to support a wide range of needs as they change over time. Whether someone is joining us for a short stay to recover or rest, or making The Yachtsman their permanent home, we aim to make that transition as smooth and comfortable as possible for both the individual and their family. Our team works hard to get to know each resident properly, not just their care needs but their preferences, their routines, the things that bring them comfort and the things that make them smile. That kind of familiarity takes time to build, and we think it is one of the most important things we offer. Good care is built on genuine relationships and on actually listening to the people we support. We were pleased to receive a rating of Good from the Care Quality Commission, and we see that as both an encouragement and a reminder to keep improving. It reflects the effort our staff put in every day and the standards we hold ourselves to as a team. Fleetwood is a town with real character, and we think The Yachtsman reflects that. We are not a faceless setting. We are a place where familiar faces greet you at the door, where family members are always welcome, and where the day to day experience of living here genuinely matters to us. If you would like to find out more or arrange a visit, we would be very happy to hear from you.

Pennine View is a care home in Accrington in Lancashire. We provide residential care for older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia, people managing mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities and people living with sight or hearing loss. Respite stays are available. We would rather be straight with you from the start. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us as requires improvement. We are not going to write around that. The findings were taken seriously, there is an improvement plan we are working through, and if you come and see us you should ask directly what has changed and what is still outstanding. You will get a plain answer. What has not changed is how we believe people should be treated. This is their home. Residents choose how their rooms look, when they get up, what they do with the day and who comes to see them. Because the people living here have genuinely different needs, we plan care one person at a time rather than running one routine and hoping it stretches. Where sight or hearing loss is part of the picture, habits matter more than equipment: saying who you are as you come into a room, leaving furniture where it belongs, checking that glasses and hearing aids are working. Genuine improvement comes from listening to residents and relatives and then acting rather than recording. That is where our attention sits.

Whalley Road is a residential care home in Accrington, Lancashire. We support older people and younger adults, including people who live with mental health conditions, and we offer respite stays for those who need care for a shorter period. Our starting point is that people should carry on running their own lives as far as they are able. Residents choose their own routines, keep their possessions around them and have a genuine say in how the house works and what goes on the menu. Staff step in where support is genuinely needed and step back where it is not, which sounds simple but takes attention and a bit of discipline to get right. For residents living with a mental health condition, stability is what we offer above all: a settled base, staff who are calm and consistent, and a team who notice early when somebody is becoming unwell. We support people to manage their medication where they can, to keep appointments, to hold on to relationships and to pursue work, study or interests. We work alongside community mental health teams and local health colleagues rather than separately from them. Day to day we also help with washing, dressing, meals, mobility and continence at whatever level each person needs, and we involve GPs and district nurses promptly when health changes. Families are welcome here and we would much rather hear a concern early than late. If you are considering the home for yourself or a relative, please arrange to come and look round.

We are Abbeyfield Care Home Clitheroe, a residential care home in Clitheroe, Lancashire. We provide a home for older people, including those living with dementia, people with a physical disability and people with a visual or hearing impairment, and we also offer respite stays. Residential care means supporting people with what has become difficult while leaving the rest of life where it belongs, which is with them. Washing and dressing, meals, medication, moving about safely, and the everyday company that makes a day worth having. For health needs beyond our registration we work with district nurses and GPs and we say so plainly rather than stretching to cover them. Where dementia and a sensory impairment sit together, it pays to check the simple explanation first. A good deal of what gets written down as confusion turns out to be a conversation nobody could hear properly. We try to get the environment and the communication right before drawing conclusions about the person. Respite guests are assessed and welcomed exactly as permanent residents are, whether they are recovering from illness or giving a family carer a break. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.

We are a small residential care home on Windsor Road in Lytham St Annes in Lancashire. We support older people and younger adults, including people managing mental health conditions, and we offer respite stays for people whose usual home is elsewhere. Supporting mental health in a residential setting is largely a matter of steadiness rather than intervention. We keep to arrangements we have made. We notice when somebody seems unlike themselves without turning it into an interrogation. We make it easy to talk to us without a formal appointment, and we are as reliable on the difficult weeks as on the good ones. Progress is rarely a straight line and our job is not to be surprised by that. Being a small house helps with all of it. Everybody knows everybody, nobody gets lost in a system, and the week can genuinely be arranged around the people living here. This is their home and we treat it accordingly. Rooms are theirs to arrange. People decide how their days go, who they see, whether they want company or their own space. We knock before we come in, we ask rather than assume, and we are quite prepared to be disagreed with. The Care Quality Commission rated us good at our most recent inspection, and we keep asking the people living here what needs to change.

Adelphi Residential Care Home is in Chorley in Lancashire. We provide a home for older people who need support with daily living, and we offer respite stays for people needing care for a short period or whose usual carer needs a break. Residents choose how their rooms look, when they get up, what they do with the day and who comes to see them. Brandreth Lodge is a residential care home in Wigan caring for older people who need daily support that can no longer be managed at home. We provide permanent residential places and respite stays for those needing a shorter period of care, including families who provide care themselves and need a proper break. We should be open about our regulatory position. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We accept those findings rather than argue with them, and acting on them is the main task in front of our management team. We would rather tell you that ourselves and answer your questions than have you come across it elsewhere. Relatives are entitled to ask exactly what is being done and to expect a proper answer. What we expect of our staff day to day has not changed. Residents are helped with washing, dressing, medication, mobility and meals whenever they want it, and left to manage for themselves whatever they still can. People keep their own belongings and routines, choose when they get up, what they eat and how they spend the day. Families are welcome without ceremony. If you are looking at residential care in Wigan, please come and see us, meet the team and ask us the difficult questions, including about our rating.

Springfield Care Home is a residential home in Chorley, Lancashire, looking after older people who need support with everyday living. Much of our work is with residents living with dementia and with people whose mobility, sight or hearing has changed. We shape the house and the routine around that, with calm surroundings, clear routes through the building, good lighting and staff who take their time. Equipment and adaptations are used where they genuinely help rather than as a matter of routine. Residents bring their own belongings, keep their own habits, choose how they spend the day and see visitors when they like. Meals are planned around what people actually enjoy, and there is somewhere quiet for anyone who would rather be out of the company. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We would sooner say so ourselves than leave you to discover it. We know which areas were identified, we have an improvement plan in place and we are working through it with our staff team. Ask us about it directly when you visit and we will give you a straight answer. The only real way to judge a home is to walk through it. Please come at a time that suits you, speak to residents and their families, and see how the place feels.

We are Ravenscroft Rest Home in Preston, Lancashire. We provide residential care for older people, including those with a physical disability, and we also take respite stays. Residential care means supporting people with the everyday things that have become hard work: washing and dressing, meals, medication, getting about safely, and the company that makes a day worth getting up for. Where someone's health needs go beyond that, we work with district nurses and GPs rather than trying to cover it ourselves, and we are honest with families about where that line sits. For residents with a physical disability the important things are practical. Enough time that nothing feels rushed. Equipment set up properly. Being asked how a transfer is best done rather than being handled according to whatever the last carer did. Respite is a real part of what we do rather than an afterthought, whether it follows a hospital admission or gives a family carer a break. Guests get a proper assessment and the same care as anyone living here permanently. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.

Millgate House is a residential care home in Rochdale. We support older people and younger adults, including adults with learning disabilities, autistic adults and people with physical disabilities. Respite stays are available. Because the people living here want different things from their week, we plan support one person at a time. What helps an older person feel settled is not what builds confidence in a younger adult with a learning disability, and we would rather do both properly than stretch one routine across everybody. That means paying attention to particulars: how somebody likes to be spoken to, what they can manage themselves and would rather we left alone, what tends to make a difficult day. For our younger residents much of the work is about widening what is possible. Cooking something you actually want. Handling money with confidence. Getting into town on your own. Keeping a course, a job or a friendship going. Progress can be slow and can go backwards, and our part is to keep the chance open without pressure. Where a physical disability affects how somebody gets about, we design around the person rather than expecting them to accommodate the building. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall.

Lavender Hills Care Home is a residential care home in Bury, caring for older people from across the town and the surrounding parts of Lancashire and Greater Manchester. We provide permanent residential places and planned respite stays, and we support residents living with dementia. We aim for a home that feels domestic rather than institutional. Residents keep their own routines as far as they can, meals are a real part of the day with an alternative always available, and there is time here for a proper conversation. People are encouraged to bring their own furniture and pictures, because a room only becomes yours once your own things are in it. Dementia care begins with knowing the person. A resident's working life, their family, their habits and what has always comforted them tell us far more about how to support them than any general guidance could. When someone becomes unsettled we look for the reason rather than reaching for a routine response, and we usually find it in something specific. Respite stays give family carers a genuine break and give guests a real welcome into the life of the house rather than a spare bed at the edge of it. The Care Quality Commission rated us good at our most recent inspection, and we keep asking residents and their families what could be better. You are very welcome to visit us on an ordinary day.

Rockmount Northwest is a care home in Blackburn, Lancashire, providing both residential and nursing care. We support adults living with mental health conditions, people with a physical disability, people with a visual or hearing impairment and people recovering from difficulties with alcohol or drugs. Having nursing available on site means a person's health needs can be met here rather than becoming a reason to move on, which matters a great deal when someone has finally found somewhere they feel settled. Much of our work is about steadiness. People here have their own room and their own routine, and staff who know them well enough to notice when something is shifting. Support with medication and appointments is reliable without being heavy handed, and there is practical help with the ordinary business of a week where that is what somebody needs. For people in recovery, we try to be a place where progress is possible without anyone being written off for a setback. Where there is a sensory impairment, we make sure communication genuinely works instead of assuming it does. Respite stays are available as well. We work closely with community mental health teams, general practitioners and social workers. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.

Elms House is a residential care home in Clitheroe, and we support adults living with a learning disability, autism or a mental health condition. We are a small setting by design. That means the people who live here are known properly, not just by name but by what makes a good day and what makes a difficult one, and our support is built around that rather than around a fixed routine. Day to day, we aim for ordinary life. People choose how they spend their time, keep up with the interests and relationships that matter to them, and take part in running the house if they want to, from planning meals to shopping in town. Clitheroe is an easy place to be part of, and we make regular use of what is on the doorstep, whether that is the market, a walk by the river or a coffee somewhere familiar. We also offer respite care, which gives families a planned break knowing their relative is somewhere settled and staffed by people who take the time to get things right. Anyone staying with us for a short period is welcomed exactly as everyone else is. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is Good. We treat that as a starting point rather than a finish line, and we keep reviewing how we work with the people who live here and the families who know them best. Townfield and Coach House is a residential care home in Blackburn, Lancashire. We support older people who need help with daily life, including many living with dementia, and people with physical disabilities. We also offer respite stays. We are a home of a size where everybody is properly known, and that is the basis of everything else. Our team notices when somebody eats less than usual, sleeps badly, seems low or becomes unsteady on their feet, and it is acted on the same day rather than at a review in a month's time. Residents run their own days. When to get up and go to bed, what to eat, whether to sit with others or keep to their own room with their own things around them. Rooms hold people's own furniture and photographs, and nobody comes in without knocking. For residents living with dementia, consistency is what helps most, so we keep staffing settled and learn each person's history properly, which lets us make sense of what they are telling us. Where somebody has a physical disability, we work around what they can still do rather than taking over. Health needs are managed alongside local GPs and community nurses, and families hear from us early when anything changes. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. Please come and visit us in Blackburn.

Florida House is a residential care home in Preston, Lancashire, supporting adults living with a mental health condition. Many of the people who live here are younger adults, and we also offer respite care for planned short stays. This is somewhere people live rather than somewhere they are treated. Residents have their own room and their own belongings, decide how to spend their time, and are supported to take on more for themselves as and when they feel ready. Recovery does not run to a timetable, and we would far rather move at somebody's pace than push them along to suit ours. In practice that means different things for different people. For one resident it is a settled routine, regular meals and a calm house. For another it is support with medication and appointments, help with money and shopping, and encouragement to get back into study, work or simply seeing people again. We agree the plan with the resident, write it in plain language and revisit it honestly rather than letting it run on unchanged. The atmosphere here matters as much as the plan. Our team is a settled one, unhurried and straightforward with people, and a difficult day is met calmly rather than treated as an emergency. Being known by people who notice when you are not quite yourself does a great deal of good. We work closely with community mental health teams, GPs and social workers, and we keep families involved as far as the resident wants. Woodside Home for Older People is a residential care home in Burnley, Lancashire. We care for older people including those living with dementia, and we also support younger adults, people with learning disabilities and people living with mental health conditions. Respite stays are available. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. We aim to run a household rather than an institution. Residents get up when they are ready, eat what they like, keep their own habits and have a genuine say in the way their support is provided. Rooms belong to the people living in them and we encourage families to bring the furniture and pictures that make a space feel familiar. Supporting someone with dementia is largely about consistency, patience and knowing the person's history well enough to make sense of what they are telling us. We keep routines steady and faces familiar, and we respond to the feeling behind a question rather than correcting the facts. Younger residents often want something quite different from older ones, and we plan for that rather than expecting everyone to fit the same day. Keeping connections outside the home, staying active and building confidence all matter. Families are welcome and we would much rather hear a concern early than have you worry quietly. Please get in touch if you would like to visit, meet the team and look around.

Marsden Heights is a care home in Nelson caring for older people and younger adults with a broad range of needs, including dementia, mental ill health, physical disabilities, sight and hearing loss, and eating disorders. Our staff are used to supporting people whose needs do not fit neatly into one category. We build the day around the individual rather than the building. Help with washing, dressing, mobility and medication is given at the time and in the way somebody prefers, and we take the trouble to learn those preferences before a person moves in so nobody has to keep explaining themselves. Where dementia is part of the picture we keep routines steady and faces familiar, and we use what we know about a person's working life and family to steady things when they are anxious. Where mental ill health or difficulties around eating are involved, we keep close contact with health teams, avoid making mealtimes a battleground, and involve the person properly in decisions about their own care. Meals are cooked here and adapted where they need to be. Visitors are welcome and we would much rather families raised a worry early than sat on it. Short respite stays are available, often after a spell in hospital or to give a carer a rest. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good, and we would be glad to show you round.

Fernleigh House is a residential care home in Leyland, Lancashire, supporting adults with a learning disability and adults who are autistic. We work with younger adults and we can offer respite stays as well as permanent places. Support here is planned around individuals rather than around a house routine. We take time to learn how each person communicates, what they enjoy, what unsettles them and how they like things done. The week belongs to the person, whether that means work, college, volunteering, regular time with family or a settled routine that nobody interferes with. People choose their own food, keep their own belongings and habits and have a genuine say in how the house is run. Where somebody wants to take on more for themselves, whether that is cooking, travelling independently or managing their own money, we support it patiently and expect it to take as long as it takes. When a person becomes distressed, we treat it as information rather than as behaviour to be controlled. There is nearly always a reason, and knowing somebody well is what allows us to find it. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Courtfield Lodge is a residential care home in Ormskirk. We look after older people who need daily care, including many people living with dementia, and we also support younger adults who need residential care. The house runs at a human pace. People get up when they wake, eat food they recognise and enjoy, and spend their days in whatever way suits them, in company or quietly on their own. For someone living with dementia, that steadiness is a large part of the care itself, along with familiar faces and enough time in the day that nobody is hurried through anything. We would rather adapt our routine to a person than expect the person to adapt to ours, and relatives are welcome whenever they want to come. Respite stays are part of what we offer too, giving a family carer a proper rest or supporting somebody through a period of recovery after a hospital stay. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission was good. We were pleased with it, though the more useful question is whether people look settled and comfortable here week after week, and that is the one we keep asking. We also offer respite care for those who need a short term break or some additional support during a difficult period. We understand that choosing a care home is one of the most significant decisions a family can make, and we take that responsibility seriously. Our team works hard to get to know each resident as an individual, understanding their history, preferences, and what matters most to them in day to day life. We believe good care starts with genuine relationships, and we make it a priority to ensure that residents feel heard, respected, and at ease. Our home is part of the local Burnley community, and that connection means a great deal to us. We welcome family involvement and encourage visitors to be part of life here, because we know how important those bonds are to the wellbeing of the people we support. L'Arche Preston Moor Fold is a care home in Preston, providing residential care for adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, and offering respite stays. What we are trying to build here is a shared life rather than a service delivered to residents. People who live in the house and people who work in it eat together, make decisions together and take one another seriously. That sounds simple. In practice it asks a good deal of everybody, and it is why the atmosphere of the house matters to us as much as any procedure. Support is planned around the individual. Help with personal care, health appointments, money and everyday routines where it is needed, and space to get on unaided where it is not. People here have friendships, interests, jobs and family lives beyond the front door, and our job includes making sure those do not quietly fall away. Lancashire is home and we are part of the local community rather than tucked away from it. Neighbours, local groups and volunteers all come through the door, and the house is better for it. Respite stays are arranged carefully and at the pace of the person coming. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you would like to understand how we live here, the only real way is to come and spend some time with us. You would be very welcome.

Arranging and funding a care home place in Lancashire
Distance does much of the filtering
Distance does more of the work than families expect across an area this size, and it is worth applying before any other criterion. A home that relatives can reach in twenty minutes will be visited far more often than one an hour away, and frequent visitors are among the strongest protections a resident has. Once the geography is settled, the field usually shrinks to something that can be studied properly. Only then does it make sense to weigh ratings, size and specialism against one another.
What the inspection report adds to the rating
Ratings across the 321 homes listed here run from Outstanding down to Inadequate, with some homes not yet rated at all, so the headline word genuinely distinguishes them. It should still be treated as a starting point. The report behind it scores safety, effectiveness, caring, responsiveness and leadership separately, and a home can perform strongly in one of those and poorly in another. The date matters too, because a home that has changed owner or manager since the last inspection may bear little resemblance to the report.
Seeing a home for yourself
No report replaces a visit. Go at a busy hour, ideally around a meal, and watch how staff speak with residents rather than with visitors. Ask how long the manager has been in post, what turnover among care staff has looked like, and what happens when someone becomes unwell overnight. Homes such as Altham Care Home, Henley House and Clayton Brook House each carry a full profile here with their inspection history attached.
Choosing between care homes in Lancashire
The care needs assessment
An assessment of need is the formal way in, and anyone who appears to need care may request one whatever their savings. It looks at washing, dressing, eating, mobility, medication and how safely someone manages alone, then sets out in writing what care is required. Relatives can contribute their own account, which frequently captures what a single visit would miss. Whoever has been providing most of the support is entitled to a separate carer's assessment.
Where the council comes in
A financial assessment then decides who pays what. Lancashire County Council is responsible for both assessments and for arranging funded placements where someone qualifies, taking income, savings and property into account. Even families who will plainly fund a placement themselves are entitled to an assessment and to advice, and having one on record is valuable if capital falls in later years and council support becomes necessary.
What the weekly fee covers
Fees are quoted by the week and differ considerably between homes, so ask each one exactly what the figure includes. Hairdressing, chiropody, outings and certain therapies are commonly charged on top. Where a family selects a home costing more than the council will fund, a third party contribution covers the gap, and it should be tested for affordability over several years rather than the first alone.
Frequently asked questions about care homes in Lancashire
How many care homes are there in Lancashire?
Lancashire has 321 CQC registered care homes: 9 Outstanding, 242 Good, 46 Requires improvement, 1 Inadequate, 23 not yet rated. Counts come from the CQC register and are kept up to date as ratings change.
How much does a care home cost in Lancashire?
Lancashire County Council pays an average of £790 a week for residential care. Self-funders are typically asked £1,249 to £1,514 a week. North West figure, because too few Lancashire homes publish this price. 20 homes. Median £1,409. Published prices are often starting prices, and come from homes that publish fees, so treat them as a guide. Ask the home for its own price.
Which care homes in Lancashire were inspected most recently?
Sea Bank House (28 September 2026), Fylde and Wyre Short Break Services (28 September 2026) and Calvert House (16 September 2026) have the most recent CQC reports.
Which providers offer residential care in Lancashire?
321 residential care homes currently match this search in Lancashire, and every one of them appears on this page with its own profile. The listing spans independent homes, small group providers and specialist services, including names such as Altham Care Home, Belvedere, Henley House, Oswald House and Rough Lee Home. Ratings run the full range, so the profiles reward comparison rather than assumption. Filtering by area first is usually the most practical way through a list of this size.
What is the difference between a care home and a nursing home?
A residential care home provides accommodation together with personal care, covering help with washing, dressing, meals, medication prompts and daily routine. A nursing home offers the same support and additionally employs registered nurses on site, so it can meet clinical needs such as complex wound care or tube feeding. A home may only admit residents whose needs match its registration, which is why the distinction matters from the outset. All the providers on this page are registered as residential care homes.
What should we ask when visiting a care home in Lancashire?
Ask how many care staff are on duty by day and overnight, how long the manager has been in the role and what the home does when a resident becomes unwell. Ask to see a sample care plan, then find out how often plans are reviewed and how relatives are told about changes. Fees deserve equally direct questions about what is included, what is billed separately and how increases are announced. Judge the answers alongside what you observe, particularly whether residents seem settled and occupied.
How do we arrange a care needs assessment in Lancashire?
Contact the adult social care team at Lancashire County Council and ask for an assessment of need. It is free and open to anyone who appears to require care, whatever their income or savings might be. A social care worker will consider daily tasks, mobility, medication and safety, normally during a visit at home, and family members can join in and add their own observations. The written outcome then guides which of the care homes in Lancashire would be able to meet those needs.
Can Lancashire County Council fund a care home placement?
It can, but only once a care needs assessment and a financial assessment have both been completed. The needs assessment must confirm that residential care is the right form of support, while the financial assessment examines income, savings and property to establish the personal contribution. Where funding is agreed, the council normally pays up to a set weekly rate, so a family choosing a more expensive home may need to find a third party contribution. Beginning both assessments early keeps the decision unhurried.
How far ahead should a family start looking?
Sooner than most people plan for, because assessments, financial checks and waiting lists all take time. A few months of lead time allows for repeat visits, a careful reading of inspection reports and a considered second opinion on any home under serious thought. When a move follows a hospital stay the decision may need making within days, which is exactly when a prepared shortlist earns its keep. Even a rough list of three or four homes is far better than starting cold.
