About Us
Woodside Home for Older People is a residential care home in Burnley, Lancashire. We care for older people including those living with dementia, and we also support younger adults, people with learning disabilities and people living with mental health conditions. Respite stays are available. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. We aim to run a household rather than an institution. Residents get up when they are ready, eat what they like, keep their own habits and have a genuine say in the way their support is provided. Rooms belong to the people living in them and we encourage families to bring the furniture and pictures that make a space feel familiar. Supporting someone with dementia is largely about consistency, patience and knowing the person's history well enough to make sense of what they are telling us. We keep routines steady and faces familiar, and we respond to the feeling behind a question rather than correcting the facts. Younger residents often want something quite different from older ones, and we plan for that rather than expecting everyone to fit the same day. Keeping connections outside the home, staying active and building confidence all matter. Families are welcome and we would much rather hear a concern early than have you worry quietly. Please get in touch if you would like to visit, meet the team and look around.
