Impressions Care Solutions provides support in people's own homes in Taunton and the surrounding part of Somerset. We work with older people, with people living with dementia, with adults who have a learning disability and autistic adults, with people managing mental health conditions, with people who have physical disabilities, with people living with sight or hearing loss and with younger adults. With a range that wide there is no single way of working, and we would be suspicious of anybody who claimed otherwise. What stays the same is how we start. We come out and talk before anything begins. We ask how the day already runs, what somebody wants help with and what they would rather carry on doing for themselves. We plan around the person rather than the category. After that it comes down to doing simple things reliably. Arriving when we said we would. Keeping the same carers with the same households. Handing over properly so nobody has to explain themselves twice. Saying early when something has changed. If you would like to talk about support at home in this area, please get in touch and we will arrange to visit.

You First Support is a community interest company providing care in people's own homes in Langport and across Somerset. We support older people, adults living with dementia, people with a learning disability or autism, people living with mental health conditions, adults with a physical disability or a visual or hearing impairment, and younger adults. Being a community interest company shapes what we do. What we earn goes back into the support we provide and the people who deliver it, and we are answerable to the communities we work in rather than to shareholders. In practice our work is ordinary and important. It might be a short morning call so somebody can get up, wash and take their medication and then get on with their day. It might be several visits covering personal care, meals and company. For a younger adult or someone with a learning disability it is often the practical support that keeps a tenancy, a job or a college place going. We keep the same carers with the same person wherever the rota allows. Familiarity makes personal care easier to accept, and a carer who knows somebody's usual self notices early when things are not right. You First Support does not yet hold an overall rating from the Care Quality Commission. We are glad to talk through how we work and to answer anything you want to ask before you decide.

We at Daysprings Healthcare Taunton are proud to offer compassionate home care across Taunton and the wider Somerset area, supporting individuals to live safely, comfortably and independently in the place they know best: their own home. Based in the TA postcode area, our team travels throughout Taunton and the surrounding Somerset communities to deliver care where it is needed most. Rather than asking those we support to adapt to an unfamiliar environment, we bring skilled, respectful care directly to their doorstep, whether that is a family home, a bungalow, a flat, or sheltered accommodation. Familiar surroundings, cherished belongings, and established routines can play a vital role in emotional wellbeing, and our approach is built around preserving that sense of comfort and continuity. Our care covers a broad spectrum of needs, reflecting our commitment to being a genuine partner for families across the region. We support older people who may need a helping hand with daily living, from personal care and mobility assistance to companionship and meal preparation. For those living with dementia, we provide patient, consistent support that focuses on dignity, reassurance, and gentle routine, helping to reduce anxiety and promote calm. Our mental health support is delivered with sensitivity and without judgement, recognising that recovery and stability look different for every individual. We also care for younger adults and people living with physical disabilities, offering practical assistance that empowers greater independence rather than diminishing it. For those with visual or hearing impairments, our team adapts communication styles and support techniques to ensure every person feels heard, informed, and involved in decisions about their own care. Whatever the need, our aim is the same: to enable the people we support to live life on their own terms, with the right level of assistance at the right time. For families, choosing home care is often a deeply personal decision, filled with questions and understandable concern. We work closely with relatives to build care plans that reflect not only clinical needs but also personal preferences, life history, cultural background, and daily rhythms. Open communication with loved ones is central to what we do, because we understand that peace of mind for the family is as important as quality care for the individual. As a newer presence registered with the Care Quality Commission, Daysprings Healthcare Taunton has not yet received an overall CQC rating. Whilst a rating provides useful reassurance, its absence simply reflects that a full inspection is still to take place. In the meantime, we are committed to upholding the standards the CQC expects across safety, effectiveness, caring, responsiveness, and leadership, and we welcome open conversations with families about our approach, our training, and our values. If you are exploring home care options for yourself or a loved one in Taunton or elsewhere in Somerset, we warmly invite you to get in touch. A friendly conversation costs nothing and can help you understand what support might look like, at your pace and with no pressure. We are here to listen, to answer your questions honestly, and to walk alongside your family as you consider the next step.

Voyage Somerset and Devon provides support to people in their own homes and communities across Bridgwater and the wider region. We work with adults with learning disabilities, autistic adults and people managing mental ill health. The people we support are adults with their own tenancies, their own routines and their own plans, and our job is to make those plans workable rather than to take them over. Support is built with each person and reviewed as things change, which they do, particularly when someone is gaining confidence and wants more control over their week. Practically, that covers personal care where it is needed, medication, cooking, shopping, budgeting, keeping appointments and getting out to work, college, clubs or family. Just as often it covers the less visible work of helping someone manage a difficult day, understand a letter or resolve something with a landlord or a bank. Communication is central. Where a person signs, uses symbols or an app, or communicates in ways we have had to learn to read, the responsibility for understanding sits with us and not with them. We also pay close attention to predictability and sensory needs, because support that gets those wrong causes distress however kindly it is meant. The Care Quality Commission rated us good at our most recent inspection. Individuals, families and commissioners are welcome to talk to us about what support could look like in practice.

We at Helping Hands Taunton are proud to offer trusted home care throughout Taunton and the surrounding Somerset communities, supporting people to live well and safely in the place they love most: their own home. Based in the heart of the TA postcode area, our team is ideally positioned to reach families across Taunton and the wider South West region. Rather than asking loved ones to adjust to a new environment, we bring compassionate, personalised support directly to familiar surroundings, allowing residents to remain close to cherished memories, treasured belongings, neighbours, and the local community they have known for years. Our care is thoughtfully tailored to meet a broad range of needs. We support older people who value a helping hand with daily routines, whilst also caring for younger adults who benefit from assistance to live independently. Our experience in dementia care means we understand the importance of consistency, patience, and gentle reassurance, helping to reduce anxiety and preserve dignity as memory changes. For those living with a physical disability or with visual or hearing impairment, we adapt our approach to communication and mobility support so that every visit feels respectful, responsive, and genuinely helpful. In practice, this means families can rely on us for everything from companionship and help with medication to personal care, meal preparation, and support with getting out and about in Taunton. We work closely with relatives, keeping communication open and honest, so loved ones near and far feel reassured that care is being delivered with warmth and professionalism. Our commitment to quality is reflected in our Care Quality Commission rating of Good, achieved across every domain assessed: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, and Well led. This consistent recognition, following inspection in February 2021, offers families independent reassurance that our approach to safeguarding, leadership, and person centred care meets the standards that matter most. Choosing home care is a deeply personal decision, and we understand how much thought goes into finding the right team. If you are exploring support for yourself or a family member in Taunton, we warmly invite you to get in touch. We are here to listen, answer your questions, and help you take the next step with confidence and peace of mind.

Ash House provides care at home for older people in Taunton and the surrounding area. We do one thing and we try to do it properly: reliable, respectful help in the place where somebody already lives, for as much or as little of the day as they need. That can mean a call in the morning to help somebody wash, dress and get the day started safely, support and prompting with medication, a proper meal cooked and eaten rather than left in the fridge, laundry and keeping the home comfortable, or help with the shopping. It can also mean several visits a day, or a call in the evening to settle somebody for the night. Just as often the useful part of a visit is getting out of the house. A trip into town, an appointment kept, or simply some air and a change of scene does more good than most of what we do indoors. We keep the same care workers going to the same households wherever the rota allows. Familiarity means somebody notices when things are not quite right, and it means the person being visited is not forever explaining themselves to a stranger. Care is arranged after a proper conversation with the person and, where they want it, their family, and reviewed as needs change. Please ring us if you would like to talk it through.

- Home Care
One Love Home Care provides care and support in people's own homes across Taunton and the surrounding part of Somerset. We work with older adults, younger adults, people living with dementia, and people living with physical disabilities. Home care sounds simple and is not. It depends above all on reliability, because somebody waiting to be helped out of bed cannot usefully do anything else for an hour. We plan our rotas around that and would rather take on less work than accept more than we can cover properly. The support ranges from short calls for prompting and safety checks through to several longer visits a day covering personal care, medication, meals, company and getting out of the house. We agree it with the person, put it in writing they can actually read, and revisit it when their situation changes. For people living with dementia we rely on familiarity above all. The same carer, at the same time, in a home the person already understands, does more good than anything else we could bring to the situation. Where we support younger adults and people with physical disabilities, the emphasis shifts towards removing obstacles rather than taking things over. Please contact us if you would like to talk about support at home in Taunton.

Wisteria Care provides support in people's own homes in Yeovil and the surrounding parts of Somerset. We visit older people, people living with dementia, adults with a learning disability or autism, people with physical disabilities and people whose sight or hearing has changed. We should be straightforward about our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission, which is requires improvement. We know what was found, we have an improvement plan and we are working through it, with additional supervision of visits and more checking of our own records. We report on progress to the inspectors and we are willing to discuss it in detail with anybody considering our support. The work itself is about making daily life manageable at home. Help with washing and dressing, with medication, with meals and shopping, with appointments and with the ordinary company that stops a week feeling very long. We plan our rounds so that the same carers go to the same households, which matters in a county where distances are long and where a familiar visitor may be the only person somebody sees that day. We agree what is needed with the person and whoever they want involved, put it in plain writing and change it when circumstances change rather than waiting for a review date. If you are weighing up care at home, please ask us the difficult questions, including about the rating. We would rather answer them properly than have you wonder.

Boocare provides care and support in people's own homes in Somerton and across Somerset. We work with older people, people living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities, autistic adults, people managing mental health conditions and younger adults. Working across a largely rural county shapes how we do this. Distances are real and villages are scattered, so a carer running late is half an hour late rather than five minutes. We plan rounds geographically and keep them stable, which has the useful effect that people see the same few faces rather than whoever the rota threw up. Familiarity is the most valuable thing we have and it is very easily wasted. The work covers personal care, medication, meals, moving safely about the house, household jobs, shopping and appointments, through to sitting with somebody so that a family carer can leave the house without worrying. For some of the people we support it looks quite different, with somebody alongside them at a group, at college or on a journey they would not manage alone. Because we are often the only people through the door in a week, noticing is genuinely part of the job, and we pass concerns on promptly with the agreement of the person we visit. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall, and we keep asking the households we visit what needs to change.

Total Love Healthcare provides care and support in people's own homes in Bridgwater and across Somerset. We visit older people, people living with dementia, people managing mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities, people living with sight or hearing loss, and younger adults. Our first meeting is a conversation rather than an assessment. What has genuinely become difficult? What do you still manage well and would rather we left alone? What would take the most pressure off this week? Times and tasks come from those answers, because a plan written the other way round describes a category of person instead of a real one. The work covers personal care, medication, meals, moving safely about the house, laundry, shopping, appointments and time to talk properly. For people living with dementia we hold to the same carers at the same times wherever the rota allows and follow the routines already in the household. Where sight or hearing loss is part of things, habits matter more than equipment. Saying who we are as we come in. Leaving furniture where it lives. Checking that glasses and hearing aids are clean and actually working. We have not yet been given an overall rating by the Care Quality Commission. Please ask us directly about our recruitment, our training and how we respond when something goes wrong.

Baobab Social Care supports people in their own homes in Street and across Somerset. We are a home care agency, and our work is built around what somebody wants their ordinary day to look like. The people we support are varied. Older people who need help with washing, dressing, medication, meals and the running of the house. People living with dementia, visited by a small and consistent team so that a familiar face comes through the door. Adults with learning disabilities and autism, and younger adults who want support that fits around work, college, family or whatever else they are getting on with. People living with mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities, and people living with sight or hearing loss. We agree each plan with the person it belongs to. That means asking not only what help is needed but what somebody would rather keep doing for themselves, and it means adapting how we communicate so that the conversation is genuinely with them. Where a family is closely involved, we keep them informed without talking over the person in the middle. Support can be a short daily call or a full package across the day, and it can rise or fall as circumstances change. We review regularly rather than assuming. If you are looking into care at home, please contact us. We will come out, listen, and be honest about what we can realistically provide.

Novel Home Care supports people in and around Wincanton to go on living in their own homes. We visit older people who need a hand to stay independent, adults living with dementia, people with physical disabilities, and younger adults whose support has to fit around work, college or family rather than around a rota. We start by asking how someone already lives: when they wake, what they still manage themselves, what has become difficult, and where they would welcome help. From that we agree a plan, which might be a single morning call to get the day started, several visits including help at bedtime, or longer periods of support so that a family carer can work or rest. Personal care, medication, meals, shopping, housework and simple company all have their place in it. Keeping the same carers with the same households is one of the things we work hardest at. In a small Somerset town that is achievable, and it makes a real difference. Personal care is easier to accept from someone familiar, and a familiar carer is the one who notices a missed meal, a new bruise or a mood that has shifted, which is often what prevents a small problem becoming an emergency. Families are kept informed and can ring us when they are concerned. If you are thinking about care at home for yourself or a relative, get in touch and tell us what is happening. We will be honest about whether we are the right fit.

Humanicare provides care and support to people in their own homes in Street and across Somerset. We work with older people, people living with dementia, people with physical disabilities and people with sight or hearing loss. Most people who come to us want to stay where they are. In their own house, with their own things around them and their own way of doing the day, helped just enough to make that safe. Our job is to provide that help without taking over somebody's household. We start with a visit and a proper conversation about what has actually become difficult. It is often not what families assume. Sometimes it is washing and dressing, sometimes medication or meals, sometimes getting out to an appointment, and sometimes it is simply that the house has become very quiet. The plan follows from that conversation and is revised as needs change. We keep the team around each person small, because being helped by somebody who already knows you is most of what makes home care bearable. For people living with dementia and for people who cannot see well, a familiar voice at the door counts for a great deal. Our care staff are trained for the people they actually visit, including moving and handling where that is needed, and they are given time to do the job rather than rushed to the next call. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please call us if you would like to talk things over.

We provide support at home around Minehead for adults with learning disabilities and autistic people, including younger adults. Our work is about helping people live in their own homes and run their own lives as far as they are able to. In practice that means the unglamorous things that make independence real: managing a tenancy, dealing with letters and bills, handling money, shopping and cooking, keeping appointments, getting to work, college or wherever a person wants to spend their time, and having staff alongside when something feels beyond facing alone. We start by asking what somebody wants their life to look like rather than arriving with a plan already written. Progress is often gradual, and the gains that count are frequently small ones that nobody outside the household would notice. Consistency of staff matters a great deal in this work, particularly for autistic people, so we keep our teams as settled as we can and explain changes before they happen. Working across a town and the countryside around it also means being honest about what we can reliably cover rather than promising more than we can keep to. Our staff are trained for the needs they are asked to meet and have senior colleagues they can reach. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. If you are looking for support of this kind, please get in touch.

We provide live in care for people in their own homes in Bridgwater and across Somerset, supporting older people, people living with dementia, people living with mental ill health, adults with a physical disability, people with visual or hearing impairment and younger adults. Live in care suits people whose needs have grown beyond what a few visits a day can cover, but who have no wish to leave home. A carer lives in the house, so support is there when it is needed rather than at fixed times, and the day keeps its own shape. For many people that is the difference between staying put and moving into a care home. It only works if the match between carer and household is right, so we spend real time on that. Skills matter, and so does whether two people will actually get on when they are sharing a kitchen. We ask about routines, habits, food, pets, how much company somebody wants and how much they would rather be left alone. For people living with dementia, staying in familiar surroundings with one familiar person is often worth more than anything else we could offer. We keep families informed, we work alongside district nurses and GPs, and we are honest when needs are outgrowing what we can safely provide. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please get in touch to talk things through.

We proudly extend our care to younger adults as well, recognising that meaningful, age appropriate support can transform quality of life at any stage. In practice, this breadth of experience means families can feel confident that we understand the complexities of care and will work in genuine partnership with them, adjusting our approach as circumstances evolve. The Care Quality Commission has rated Atwell Care as Good across every domain assessed at our most recent inspection in March 2022, covering Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, and Well led. For families, this consistent rating offers welcome reassurance that our practice, leadership, and the warmth of our care all meet the standards you would rightly expect for someone you love. Choosing home care is a deeply personal decision, and we understand the questions and emotions that come with it. If you are exploring support for yourself or a family member in Frome or the surrounding area, we would be delighted to have a gentle, no pressure conversation about how we might help. At Galiant Health Care Almondsbury, we provide home care support to people living in Yeovil and the surrounding areas of Somerset. Our work centres on helping individuals remain in the comfort of their own homes while receiving the level of care and support that genuinely fits their lives. We support a wide range of people, including older adults, younger adults, and individuals living with dementia, learning disabilities, autism, or mental health conditions. We also work with people managing eating disorders and those recovering from alcohol or drug misuse. We do not believe in a one size fits all approach. Each person who comes to us has a different story, different preferences, and different needs, and we take the time to understand all of that before we do anything else. Our team works closely with the people we support and their families to put together care arrangements that feel right, not just on paper but in practice day to day. We know that inviting someone into your home, or the home of a loved one, requires a great deal of trust. We take that seriously and try to build relationships that are open, honest, and consistent from the very beginning. We are pleased that our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission resulted in an overall rating of good. That outcome reflects the effort our team puts in every day, and it gives the people we support and their families some reassurance about the quality of care they can expect from us. If you are looking for home care support in Yeovil or nearby, we would be happy to have a conversation about how we might be able to help. There is no obligation, and we are always happy to answer questions at whatever pace suits you.

Here at Dimensions Somerset Frome Domiciliary Care, we provide home care support to people living in Frome and the surrounding areas of Somerset. We work with older adults, younger adults, and people with learning disabilities or autism, supporting each person to live as independently as possible in their own home, on their own terms. We know that inviting a care team into your home is a big decision, and we do not take that trust lightly. Our approach is built around getting to know each person properly, understanding not just their care needs but their routines, preferences, and the things that matter most to them day to day. Good care, in our view, looks different for every individual, and we take the time to make sure support is shaped around the person rather than the other way around. Our team works hard to build consistent, reliable relationships with the people we support and with their families. We believe that familiarity and continuity make a genuine difference, particularly for people living with a learning disability or autism, where predictability and trust can be central to wellbeing. We are proud to hold a Good rating from the Care Quality Commission, which reflects the commitment our team brings to their work every day. It means something to us that an independent regulator has recognised the quality of what we do, and we continue to look for ways to improve and grow. If you are thinking about home care for yourself or for someone close to you, we are always happy to have an honest conversation about what we offer and whether we might be the right fit. There is no pressure, just a straightforward chat about how we could help. You are welcome to get in touch with our Frome office at any time.

- Home Care
Anglo Support and Housing supports adults in their own homes in Wellington and the surrounding part of Somerset. We work with older people and younger adults, adults with learning disabilities and autism, and people with physical disabilities. The idea behind what we do is simple. It is the person's home and the person's life, and our job is to provide the support that makes it workable while leaving as much as possible in their hands. In practice that means help with personal care and medicines where it is needed, and a good deal of attention to the skills and routines that living independently asks for: cooking, shopping, managing money, keeping on top of letters and appointments, using transport, and coping with whatever goes wrong in a household. It also means support to have a life worth having. Seeing family and friends, getting to work, college, groups or activities, and making the everyday decisions other adults make without thinking about them. Where somebody communicates in their own way, we learn how they do it. Where somebody has a physical disability, we agree together how they want to be helped. Where the day needs to be predictable, we keep it predictable and give proper warning of anything that must change. We agree the support with the person rather than writing it about them, and we revisit it whenever circumstances shift.

We are Nursely, a home care provider working in Yeovil and the surrounding parts of Somerset. We support older people and younger adults in their own homes, helping with the things that have become difficult so that moving out does not have to be the answer. Most people come to us after something has changed. A fall, a spell in hospital, a diagnosis, or simply the slow realisation that managing alone has got harder. Our aim in the early weeks is to take the pressure off without taking over. We do the parts that have become a struggle and we leave alone the parts somebody still manages, because independence quietly removed is very hard to win back. A week with us might mean help getting washed and dressed, prompting or giving medication, cooking a meal, moving safely around the house, laundry, shopping, a lift to an appointment or simply reliable company at a set time. Some people need one visit a week and some need several a day, and both are ordinary work for us. We try above all to be predictable. Arriving when we said, sending faces people know, and telling somebody if we are running late rather than leaving them wondering. We have not yet been given an overall rating by the Care Quality Commission. We would rather you judged us on how we answer your questions, so please ask about our training, our staffing and what we do when something goes wrong.

Aspire Care provides care and support to people in their own homes in Axbridge and the surrounding parts of Somerset, working in particular with adults who have a learning disability, autistic adults and people with a physical disability. The aim of our support is for people to live the life they want in their own home with the help they need and nothing more than that. In practice that can mean assistance with personal care and moving safely, help with cooking, shopping, laundry and keeping the home in order, support with money and paperwork, or help to get out to work, college, appointments and activities. For many people, part of what we provide is somebody alongside them while they build skills and confidence. We agree support with the person and with those who know them well, and we review it honestly. Where somebody becomes more independent we step back, because support that is no longer needed simply gets in the way. Our staff are trained for the specific needs they support and we keep teams consistent so that people are not constantly meeting somebody new. If you or somebody you support would like to discuss care at home in this part of Somerset, please contact us.

Caringhearts Support provides care at home to adults in Bridgwater and across Somerset. We visit older people who need help to carry on living in their own houses, people living with mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities, people with a visual or hearing impairment and younger adults who need support to live independently. The practical work covers personal care given without rushing, prompting and support with medication, meals, laundry, shopping and help to get out to appointments or simply out for some air. Some people need one short call a day, others several longer visits, and what somebody needs usually changes over time, so we review arrangements honestly rather than letting a plan drift. Working across a town and the villages around it means distances are real and public transport is thin. People here can become isolated long before they become unwell, so getting somebody out and keeping them connected is often as valuable as anything on the task list. For people with sight or hearing loss we adapt how we announce ourselves and explain what we are doing, because being unable to follow what is going on around you is isolating in a way that is easy to underestimate. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please get in touch to talk about what would help.

We are Altogether Care, and this is our care at home team covering Yeovil and the surrounding parts of Somerset. We visit people in their own houses and flats, for anything from one short call a day to several visits and longer periods of support. We help older people with personal care, medication, meals, shopping and the household jobs that become harder over time. We support adults living with dementia, where the same familiar faces arriving at predictable times do more good than anything else we can offer. We also support adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, and people with physical disabilities, and a good number of the people on our books are younger adults who want support that steps back as their confidence grows. Yeovil sits in a rural county and we plan our rounds with that in mind, so that visits arrive when they are meant to and nobody is left waiting. If we are running behind we ring and say so. Every package starts with a conversation at home, because a form will not tell you what actually matters to somebody. We write the plan with the person, review it, and change it when circumstances change. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you would like to discuss support at home, please get in touch and we will talk it through without any pressure.

We at Churchill House are proud to offer dedicated home care across Burnham on Sea, supporting individuals to live well and confidently within the comfort of their own homes. Based in the heart of Somerset, our team provides thoughtful, person centred support to those who value familiarity, independence, and the reassurance of knowing help is close at hand. Our setting within the TA postcode area places us in an ideal position to reach families throughout Burnham on Sea and the surrounding Somerset communities. Because we deliver care directly in the homes of those we support, each person benefits from remaining in the environment they know and love, surrounded by their own belongings, memories, and neighbourhood connections. For many, this continuity is central to feeling safe, settled, and understood. Our specialisms reflect a genuine commitment to inclusive, tailored support. We work closely with adults living with learning disabilities and autism, as well as younger adults who may be navigating new stages of independence. In practice, this means we take time to understand each person as an individual, recognising their preferences, routines, aspirations, and communication styles. Whether it involves support with daily living, encouragement to pursue hobbies and community activities, guidance with personal care, or simply the reassurance of a familiar face, we shape our approach around the person, not the other way around. For families, this brings peace of mind. We understand that arranging care for a loved one, particularly a younger adult or someone with additional needs, can feel like a significant step. Our role is to walk alongside families throughout that journey, offering clarity, consistency, and a genuine partnership. We believe strong communication with relatives is just as important as the care itself, and we welcome the involvement of families in shaping the support their loved one receives. As a newly established or newly registered provider, Churchill House is currently listed as Not Yet Rated by the Care Quality Commission, with the most recent inspection activity recorded on 31 October 2025. A Not Yet Rated status simply reflects that a full rated inspection has not yet taken place, which is common for providers in the earlier stages of their CQC journey. We remain fully committed to meeting and exceeding the standards expected by the regulator, and we welcome open conversations with families about our practices, policies, and the ways we ensure safe, effective, and compassionate care every day. If you are exploring home care options in Burnham on Sea for yourself or someone you love, we would be delighted to hear from you. Reaching out does not commit you to anything; it simply opens the door to a friendly conversation about what matters most. At Churchill House, we are here to listen, to reassure, and to help you take the next step with confidence.

Southwest Care Line provides care and support to people in their own homes in Bridgwater and the surrounding part of Somerset. We work with older people and with younger adults, and our experience covers dementia, learning disabilities and autism, mental health needs, physical disabilities, and sight and hearing loss. We begin with a visit at home. What we want to understand is how the household runs, who is already helping, what the person manages perfectly well without us and where help would make a real difference. The plan comes out of that conversation and belongs to the person to change. Support may be a single daily call for personal care and medication, several visits covering meals, housework, shopping and company, or longer stretches for somebody who should not be alone for long. In a rural area, rounds have to be planned so carers are not racing between villages and visits have to be long enough to be worth having, and we keep our patch tight so those are realistic. Across the range of needs we meet, training is practical rather than nominal, and our carers have the knowledge for the people they visit before they go out. Our carers are checked, trained and supervised, and we are registered with and regulated by the Care Quality Commission.

Neighbourhood Care supports people in their own homes around Burnham on Sea and across this part of Somerset. We work with older people and younger adults, people living with dementia or a mental health condition, people with a learning disability or autism, people with a physical disability, people with a visual or hearing impairment, and people dealing with alcohol or drug misuse. That breadth means we cannot work from a single template. We sit down at the start, work out what would genuinely make a difference to the person in front of us, and build the support around that rather than around what is easiest to staff. Covering a spread out area means being reliable about timing, because people plan their day around when we said we would arrive. We take our scheduling seriously and we ring ahead when something has slipped. Visits cover personal care, support with medication, meals and drinks, help around the house and with shopping, and support to get out to appointments or into town. Where a visit is as much about company and a steady routine as it is about tasks, we say so openly. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. Shaftesbury Somerset provides care and support to people in their own homes in Taunton and the surrounding area. We support older people who want to carry on living independently, people living with dementia, adults with a learning disability or autism, people managing a mental health condition, younger adults, people with a physical disability, and people living with a visual or hearing impairment. Our approach is to start from the life somebody already has rather than from a template. What does the week look like, what matters most in it, and where would help actually make a difference? Some people want a brief call each morning. Others need substantial support several times a day. Others want help with the things that make independence possible, such as cooking, travel, appointments or keeping in touch with people. We adapt how we communicate to suit the person, we give warning before anything changes, and we try to be the sort of presence that makes a household easier rather than busier. Where someone is autistic or living with dementia, predictability does much of the work, so we protect continuity as far as we can. We believe that staying at home, surrounded by familiar faces and personal comforts, makes a real difference to people's wellbeing, and our work is centred around making that possible. We support a wide range of people, including older adults, younger adults, and individuals living with dementia, learning disabilities, autism, mental health conditions, physical disabilities, and visual or hearing impairments. No two people are the same, and we take time to get to know each person properly before putting a care plan in place. What matters to you matters to us, and we work closely with people and their families to make sure the support we provide genuinely reflects individual needs, routines, and preferences. We are proud to hold a Good rating from the Care Quality Commission, which reflects the effort and commitment of our whole team. It is something we do not take for granted, and we continually look at how we can improve and do better for the people in our care. Our carers are carefully selected, thoroughly trained, and supported on an ongoing basis. Trinity Homecare Somerset and Wiltshire supports people in their own homes in and around Frome and across the surrounding area. We work with older people, adults living with dementia, those managing a mental health condition, people with a physical disability, and people living with a visual or hearing impairment. We also support younger adults who need help at home. Every arrangement begins with a proper conversation. We want to understand how someone likes their day to run, what they still manage well themselves and where a hand would genuinely make a difference. That becomes a written plan in plain language which our carers follow and which we revisit as circumstances change rather than leaving it filed away. Visits can cover personal care, medication, preparing meals, household tasks, shopping, getting to appointments and simply spending time with someone. Some people want a short morning call. Others need support several times a day, and some want a live in arrangement where a carer is there throughout. Continuity matters greatly in this work, so we keep the team around each person small. Familiar faces at predictable times mean a great deal, and carers who know someone well notice when things are different. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. - Home Care
We provide care at home in Minehead and the surrounding part of Somerset, supporting older people, including people with physical disabilities and people with loss of sight or hearing. Our work is the practical business of making home manageable. That might be help with washing and dressing first thing, support with medication, a hand with meals, shopping and the house, or assistance to move about safely. For people whose mobility has become restricted, the right help at the right moment is often what makes staying at home possible, so we pay attention to the detail of how a person prefers to be helped and what makes them feel safe rather than handled. Where sight or hearing is poor, small habits matter: saying who you are on coming in, speaking clearly and leaving things where they were put. Working across a town and the countryside around it means reliability has to be planned rather than promised, and we try to send the same carers consistently so that people are not forever explaining themselves to somebody new. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us outstanding overall. We are pleased with that and conscious that a rating describes a moment. What keeps it true is the daily work and listening when somebody tells us something is wrong. If you are thinking about care at home, please get in touch.

Sultan Healthcare provides care in people's own homes in Taunton and the surrounding parts of Somerset. We visit older people and younger adults, people living with dementia and people whose physical disabilities make daily life harder to manage alone. Our starting point is what somebody wants their day to look like rather than a list of what they can no longer do. From there the support might be a call each morning to help with washing, dressing, medication and breakfast, several visits through the day, help with meals, shopping and housework, or a lift to an appointment. For some households the most valuable thing we provide is a longer visit that gives a family carer a few hours to themselves. We plan our rounds so that the same carers go to the same homes. In a county where distances can be long and where isolation creeps up on people quietly, that continuity matters both practically and personally. We agree what is needed with the person and whoever they want involved, put it in plain writing and change it as circumstances change rather than waiting for a review date. The Care Quality Commission has not yet given us an overall rating. We would rather tell you that openly. In the meantime we are happy to explain how we recruit, train and supervise our staff and to answer any question before you decide.

We are proud to hold an Outstanding rating from the Care Quality Commission, which reflects the genuine effort our team puts in every single day. That recognition means a great deal to us, not because of what it says on paper, but because it tells us the people we support and their families feel genuinely well cared for. Home care is deeply personal work. Coming into someone's home means earning their trust, respecting their routines, and understanding that what matters to them should shape how we support them. We take that responsibility seriously. Our team gets to know each person properly, not just their care needs but who they are, what they enjoy, and what makes a good day for them. We also understand how much families and loved ones rely on knowing that someone is in safe, capable hands. We make communication a priority and work closely with family members, GPs, and other professionals to make sure everything is coordinated and nothing falls through the gaps. If you are looking for home care in Shepton Mallet or the surrounding area, whether for yourself or someone you care about, we would be very glad to have a conversation. There is no pressure, just an honest discussion about what you need and how we might be able to help.

Amber Rose Healthcare provides care in people's own homes in Taunton and across Somerset. We support older people, adults living with dementia, people with learning disabilities and autistic adults, those living with mental ill health, adults with physical disabilities or sensory loss, younger adults, people recovering from eating disorders and people affected by alcohol or drug use. We take on that range on purpose. Lives are rarely simple, and hearing that a case is too complicated is a discouraging experience for families who are already stretched. We would rather assess carefully and give a straight answer about whether we can do the work properly. Everything then rests on reliability and familiarity. The same small team visiting the same homes, arriving when they said, doing what was agreed and raising concerns promptly. Somerset covers a lot of ground, so we plan rotas around real travel times rather than optimistic ones. Our care workers are trained for the needs they will actually meet and supported when a situation is hard, which is how a provider keeps experienced staff and therefore keeps decent care. We do not currently hold an overall rating from the Care Quality Commission. Please ask us how we recruit, train and supervise, how we handle complaints and what happens if a visit is missed, and put the same questions to anyone else you are considering. We are happy to talk whenever suits you.

FHS24 provides nursing and care support to people in their own homes in Yeovil and the surrounding parts of Somerset. We work with older people and younger adults, people living with dementia, adults with a learning disability or autism, people living with an eating disorder, and people with a physical disability. Our support is planned around each person rather than drawn from a standard package. We visit first, ask what is genuinely difficult and what the person would rather keep doing themselves, and agree the arrangement with them before anything is fixed. The help we provide can include personal care, prompting and support with medication, preparing meals and drinks, help with moving about safely, shopping, laundry and housework, and support to get out to appointments, education or work. Where health needs are greater, we make sure the staff supporting somebody are trained for what those needs actually involve. We keep teams consistent wherever the rota allows and we take timekeeping seriously, because care that does not arrive causes more worry than no arrangement at all. We work alongside families and the health and social care professionals involved. If you are considering support at home in Somerset, please contact us and we will arrange to visit.

We are Care Wyvern, a home care agency based in Taunton and working across Somerset. We support adults of all ages in their own homes, from older people who need a hand with personal care and daily routines to younger adults who want support to get on with their own lives. Our work covers a broad range of needs. We support people living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities or autism, people with visual or hearing impairment, people recovering from or managing an eating disorder, and people whose lives have been affected by alcohol or drug misuse. Those are very different kinds of support, and we do not pretend one approach fits all of them. What they have in common is that the plan belongs to the person, not to us. We think carefully about who we send to whom. Continuity matters, particularly where trust has taken a while to build, so we try to keep the same small group of workers visiting the same person. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We are pleased with that, though it is a starting point rather than a finish. If you are looking for support in Somerset, get in touch and we will talk honestly about whether we are the right fit.

Candlelight Homecare provides care and support to people in their own homes in the Glastonbury area and the surrounding part of Somerset. We work with older people and younger adults, people living with dementia, adults with a learning disability or autism, people managing mental health conditions or an eating disorder, people with a physical disability or with sight or hearing loss, and people dealing with alcohol or drug misuse. Supporting that range of needs means listening carefully before planning anything. Every arrangement begins with a visit and a proper conversation about what is actually difficult, what the person wants to keep doing for themselves and what would make the greatest difference to their week. From there, our support may include personal care, prompting and help with medication, preparing meals and drinks, help with moving about safely, shopping, laundry and housework, or support to get out to appointments, education or activities. Our carers are trained for the specific needs they support and supervised properly, and we keep teams consistent wherever the rota allows. Covering a rural area also means planning rounds with travel in mind, and we do that properly rather than leaving carers chasing the clock. We provide support in people's own homes and in the community, working from Yeovil across Somerset and into the other areas we cover. Our work is with adults who have learning disabilities and with autistic adults, most of them younger adults building the life they want with support alongside them. Our starting point is always the person. What do you want your week to look like, what already works, where does help make a genuine difference, and where would it simply get in the way. Those questions shape the support plan, and we revisit them as people change their minds, which they are entitled to do. Support might cover everyday things such as cooking, budgeting, shopping, appointments and keeping a home running. It might be about getting to college, work or a club, or about managing the parts of daily life that cause anxiety. For autistic people we pay particular attention to communication, predictability and sensory needs, because getting those right prevents most of the difficulties that would otherwise follow. We work closely with families, social workers and health teams, while keeping the person themselves at the centre of any decision about their own life. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you would like to talk about support, please get in touch and we will arrange to meet you.

Bluebird Care South Somerset supports people to carry on living in their own homes in Yeovil and across the surrounding area. We visit older people and younger adults who need help to live independently. Most of the people who contact us want the same thing: enough support to stay in their own home, with their own things around them and their own routine intact. Our job is to make that practical and safe rather than to take anything over. Visits can include help with getting up and going to bed, washing and dressing, prompting or assisting with medication, preparing meals, help around the house and with the shopping, and support to get out to appointments or to see people. Some households need half an hour a day, and others need a good deal more. We try hard to send the same small group of carers to the same people. In a rural county that takes planning, but it is what makes care at home worth having: a carer who knows where things are kept and who notices when somebody seems quieter than usual. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you are weighing up care at home in south Somerset, please call us and we will talk it through with no pressure.

Here at Lifeline Homecare in Frome, we provide home care to people living in Frome and the surrounding areas of Somerset. We come to you, supporting you in the place that matters most, your own home, where you feel comfortable and where your routines, your belongings and your familiar surroundings are all around you. We know that asking for help at home is not always an easy step to take. People often tell us they worried about losing their independence, or that they were unsure whether care at home would really suit them. What we find, time and again, is that the right support actually helps people hold onto their independence for longer. That is what we are here for. Our team works across Frome and the local Somerset area, visiting people with a wide range of needs. Whether someone needs a little help getting started in the morning, support with medication, or more regular visits throughout the day, we work around what the person actually wants rather than fitting them into a fixed routine that does not suit them. We are pleased that our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission resulted in a rating of good. That matters to us, not simply as a formal recognition, but because it reflects the honest, careful work our team puts in every day. We are a local team and we take that seriously. Frome is not just where we work, it is where many of us live too. When you invite someone from our team into your home, you are not dealing with a distant organisation. You are dealing with people who know this town, who care about this community and who want to get things right for you and your family. If you would like to find out more, we would be very happy to have a conversation.

At Homelium Somerset, we provide home care to people living in Yeovil and the surrounding areas of Somerset. We work with older adults, younger adults, and people living with dementia, supporting them to remain in the comfort and familiarity of their own homes. We know that inviting someone into your home to provide personal support is a significant decision, and we do not take that trust lightly. Our team works closely with each person and their family to understand what matters most to them, not just in terms of physical care needs, but in terms of how they want to live their daily life. That might mean a particular morning routine, a favourite meal, or simply having someone around who genuinely listens. Dementia care is one of our key areas of focus. We understand that this condition affects not only the person living with it but also those closest to them. We approach this work thoughtfully, taking time to understand each individual's history, preferences, and ways of communicating, so that care feels consistent and familiar rather than disruptive. For younger adults who need support at home, we recognise that independence looks different for everyone. Our aim is always to support people in living the life they choose, rather than fitting them into a rigid routine that does not reflect who they are. We are based in Yeovil and are proud to be part of this community. We believe that good home care is built on honest communication, reliability, and genuine respect for the people we work with. If you are considering home care for yourself or someone you love, we would welcome the chance to have a straightforward conversation about how we might be able to help. There is no pressure and no obligation, just an open discussion about what support might look like.

Heartfelt Care provides care and support in people's own homes in Yeovil and the surrounding parts of Somerset. Letting someone into your home takes trust, and we try to earn it visit by visit rather than assume it. Much of our work is with older adults, helping with personal care, medication, meals and the practical jobs that have become harder to manage. We support people living with dementia, and we have learned that continuity is everything there. A carer who already knows the household, the routine and the stories can do far more good in half an hour than a stranger can in twice the time. We also support adults who have a learning disability or who are autistic, people living with a physical disability, people with a visual or hearing impairment, and younger adults who want support that fits around their own plans. Care is built around each person. Some want a single morning visit, others need several calls across the day or longer periods of support. We review arrangements properly rather than letting them drift out of date. The Care Quality Commission rated us good at our most recent inspection. We are pleased with that, and we treat it as the level we are expected to keep working at. If you are considering care at home in the Yeovil area, please contact us. We are happy to visit, answer your questions and explain honestly what we can offer.

Enliva Homecare supports people in their own homes in Taunton and the surrounding parts of Somerset. We visit older people and younger adults, people with physical disabilities and people whose sight or hearing has changed. Our starting point is what somebody wants their day to look like rather than a list of what they can no longer do. From there the support might be a call each morning to help with washing, dressing, medication and breakfast, several visits through the day, help with meals, shopping and housework, or a hand getting out to an appointment. For some households the most valuable thing we provide is a longer visit that gives a family carer a few hours to themselves. We plan our rounds so that the same carers go to the same homes. Familiar staff know what normal looks like for a person and notice quickly when it changes, which is very often what keeps a small difficulty from becoming something serious. Where physical disabilities are involved we make sure the equipment and the practical support are right, so that help with moving is safe and comfortable. We agree what is needed with the person and whoever they want involved, put it in plain writing and change it as circumstances change. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Get in touch if you would like to talk it through with no obligation.

We are Care South Home Care in Somerset, based at Crewkerne, and we support people in their own homes across the county. The people we visit are a wide group, and intentionally so. Older people, many living with dementia. Adults with learning disabilities and autistic people. Adults living with mental ill health. People with physical disabilities and people living with sight or hearing loss. Younger adults. People living with an eating disorder, and people dealing with problems with alcohol or drugs. Somerset is a big county with a lot of small places in it, and for people living in villages a good deal of what we provide is simply contact with the outside world. That is worth saying plainly, because the practical tasks are only part of the value. Support is agreed with the person first. We ask how the day runs now, what has become difficult, what they still want to manage alone, and what would make the biggest difference. From there we set the visits and adjust them as things move. That might be personal care, help with medication, meals, mobility, shopping, paperwork, or getting out to work, college and the community. Across all of it, what we work hardest at is reliability. Turning up when we said. Sending somebody the person already knows. Noticing when something has shifted. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Ring us if you would like to talk it through.

Dimensions in Taunton provides support to people in their own homes across Somerset. We work with adults who have a learning disability and adults who are autistic, including younger adults and older people. The support we offer exists to serve somebody's own life, not to run it. Some of the people we support need help with personal care, medication, cooking and keeping a home going. Others need far less and simply want reliable help with particular parts of the week. We ask first, we agree what is wanted, and we take care not to do things for people that they would rather do for themselves. Communication is central to this work. Not everybody uses speech, so our staff learn how each person makes themselves understood and how they show that something is wrong. Where somebody becomes distressed, we look for the cause instead of treating the behaviour as the problem. We keep staff teams settled, because familiarity is what makes support effective, and we plan with the person, their family and other professionals so that everybody is working from the same understanding. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We at RCS Care Solutions are proud to offer compassionate home care across Taunton and the surrounding Somerset communities, supporting people to live safely and comfortably in the place they know best: their own home. Based in the TA postcode area, our team travels throughout Taunton and the wider region to bring personalised care directly to your doorstep. Home care means we come to you, so there is no need to adjust to unfamiliar surroundings or leave behind the memories, routines, and comforts that make a house feel like home. Whether you live in a family home, a bungalow, or sheltered accommodation, our carers work discreetly and respectfully within your space, always following your lead. Our specialisms span a broad range of needs, allowing us to support a wide variety of individuals and families across Somerset. We provide dedicated care for older people, including those living with dementia, where consistency, patience, and gentle familiarity make an enormous difference to daily wellbeing. For adults with learning disabilities or autism, we focus on building trust and supporting independence in ways that reflect each person's preferences and goals. We also support people managing mental health conditions, physical disabilities, and sensory impairments such as visual or hearing loss, adapting our approach so that communication and comfort remain at the heart of every visit. Younger adults navigating complex needs will find our team equally attentive, recognising that care is not defined by age but by the individual receiving it. In practice, this breadth of experience means families can feel reassured that whatever changes may come, whether a progressing condition, a new diagnosis, or simply the natural need for a little more help, we can adjust our support accordingly. Loved ones often tell us that knowing a trusted carer is arriving takes an immense weight off their shoulders, freeing them to enjoy quality time together rather than worrying about practical tasks. As a newer provider, RCS Care Solutions has not yet received a full CQC rating, with our most recent inspection activity noted in January 2025. We welcome the regulatory process as an important part of demonstrating our commitment to safe, effective, and caring support, and we are happy to speak openly with families about our standards, training, and approach whilst our formal rating is established. Transparency matters to us, and we believe trust is built through honest conversation and consistent, high quality care delivered visit after visit. If you are exploring home care options for yourself or someone you love in Taunton or across Somerset, we would be delighted to hear from you. Please get in touch for a friendly, no obligation chat about how we might help. Choosing care is a significant decision, and we are here to listen, answer your questions, and walk alongside you every step of the way.

We are St Patrick Healthcare in Bridgwater, supporting adults in their own homes across this part of Somerset. We support older people, adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, people living with mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities, people with a visual or hearing impairment, and younger adults who want help to live independently. That range means we take real care matching workers to people, because the skills and the manner needed vary a great deal from one visit to the next. Support might be a single call each morning or a series of visits covering personal care, medication, meals, housework and company. We agree the plan with the person and with anyone else they want involved, we record what we have actually done, and we pass on anything that has changed to someone who can act on it. We have not yet received an overall rating from the Care Quality Commission. We provide care at home in Wells and the surrounding parts of Somerset. Those we support include older adults, people living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, people with physical disabilities, and younger adults. Working across a rural area means being realistic about time and distance. A round that looks efficient on paper comes apart on a wet morning on country lanes, and it is the person waiting to be helped out of bed who pays for it. So we build schedules that survive an ordinary bad day, and we would rather take on less work than run a rota that only holds together in good weather. Isolation is a real part of what we deal with here. For several of the people we visit we are the only caller that day, and sometimes that week. We do not treat the conversation as the part of the visit to cut when we are running behind. For autistic adults and people with learning disabilities we are careful to be exactly where we said, at the time we said, doing what was agreed. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We ask the people we visit what they think of us and act on the critical answers.

We are MJR Healthcare, based in Taunton and supporting people in their own homes across this part of Somerset. We work with older people and people living with dementia, adults with a learning disability and autistic adults, people managing a mental health condition, people with a physical disability or a visual or hearing impairment, and younger adults who need support to live independently. Given that range, we do not offer one standard package. We visit first, talk properly with the person and with family where that is wanted, and agree what the support should genuinely cover. It might be a single call each morning, several visits a day covering personal care, medication, meals and household tasks, or support that is as much about routine and encouragement as anything practical. We are careful about who goes where, and we keep those arrangements steady. Knowing the face at the door matters to nearly everybody we visit, and for some of the people we support it is the difference between accepting help and turning it away. Our carers are trained for the work they are sent to do and properly supervised, and the office is reachable when a family needs to speak to somebody. We liaise with GPs, district nurses and social workers. Please call us to talk things through.

Arranging and funding home care in Somerset
Practical questions about eligibility and cost tend to be postponed, but answering them at the outset makes everything that follows more straightforward. Knowing who assesses need and how agencies price their time removes most of the guesswork from a search.
The care needs assessment
Every adult who appears to need care and support has a right to an assessment, free of charge and with no means test beforehand. The assessment considers the shape of a day, covering getting up, personal care, meals, medication, mobility around the house and safety when alone. Requests can be made by the person, by a relative or by a professional such as a GP or a hospital discharge team. Somerset Council adult social care conducts the assessment and records the needs it judges eligible for support.
Financial assessment, direct payments and carers
A separate means test then weighs capital and income against national thresholds. Where support is agreed, families can take council arranged care or a direct payment, which places the budget with the person so they can appoint an agency of their own choosing. Self funders make their own arrangements while retaining a right to information and advice. Anyone providing unpaid care can request a carer's assessment, which may open the way to respite or practical support.
What visits cost
Charges are made by the hour or by the visit, so the weekly figure depends on how many calls are needed and how long each lasts. Distances matter in a county with scattered villages, and some agencies apply a minimum visit length or charge for travel, which is worth clarifying before anything is agreed. Weekend and bank holiday rates are usually higher. Ask for the full schedule of charges in writing along with the notice period for changes.
Choosing between home care agencies in Somerset
Registration permits an agency to provide personal care; it does not indicate how well it does so. The differences worth finding concern reliability, continuity and how an agency responds when a visit cannot go ahead as planned.
Making use of the inspection reports
Ratings across these providers include Outstanding, Good and Requires Improvement, with several agencies not yet inspected. Read past the summary word into the key questions beneath it, paying particular attention to safety and leadership, since staffing and medication issues surface there. Check when the inspection took place, because an older report may describe a service under different management. Where no rating exists, ask how long the agency has operated and who the registered manager is.
Coverage and continuity
Ask directly whether the agency covers the specific address, because rounds in rural areas are built around travel time and a provider may serve one village but not the next. Establish how many carers are likely to attend over a month, how sickness is covered and whether you will be told when a call is running late. Ask who writes the care plan, how often it is reviewed and whether the family is involved.
Before and after signing
Check the contract for notice periods, rate reviews and the complaints procedure. Ask whether visits are recorded electronically and whether relatives can see the notes. Keep a simple record during the first few weeks of who attended and when, and raise any slippage early, since a well run agency will want to know.
Frequently asked questions about home care in Somerset
How many home care agencies are there in Somerset?
Somerset has 119 CQC registered home care agencies: 7 Outstanding, 66 Good, 5 Requires improvement, 41 not yet rated. Counts come from the CQC register and are kept up to date as ratings change.
How much does home care cost in Somerset?
Hourly care visits, South West: £28.75 to £34.94 an hour. Middle half of prices from 10 agencies. Median £32.96. Shown for South West because too few Somerset agencies publish a rate. Published prices come from agencies that publish rates, so treat them as a guide. Ask the agency for its own price.
Which home care agencies in Somerset were inspected most recently?
Somerset (29 September 2026), Hummingbird Homecare Yeovil (15 September 2026) and In Caring Hands Wells (14 September 2026) have the most recent CQC reports.
Can Somerset Council contribute towards home care costs?
It can, subject to two separate assessments. The needs assessment establishes whether there are eligible needs, and the financial assessment then compares capital and income with national thresholds to decide how the cost is shared. Where support is agreed, the council can arrange care directly or offer a direct payment so the person chooses their own agency. Those assessed as able to meet the full cost still have a right to information and advice about arranging care.
How do I arrange a care needs assessment in Somerset?
Contact the adult social care team at Somerset Council and describe the help that has become necessary. The referral can come from the person concerned, from a relative or friend acting for them, or from a professional such as a GP, district nurse or hospital discharge coordinator. The assessment is free and no financial test applies before it happens. Having recent, specific examples ready of what has gone wrong at home helps the assessor reach an accurate conclusion.
How far in advance should we start looking for home care?
Start before matters become urgent, because capacity is finite and the busiest visit times are booked first. Morning and bedtime calls are in heaviest demand, so flexibility about timings widens the choice considerably. Where care is needed after a hospital stay, ask for the discharge team to begin planning well before the discharge date. Starting early also leaves room to try one agency and move to another without pressure if the fit is wrong.
Which home care agencies serve Somerset?
119 agencies registered with the Care Quality Commission for personal care in people's own homes are listed here. They include independent local providers, branches of national organisations and services supporting particular conditions. Coverage varies within the county because rounds have to work geographically, so an agency registered for the area may not reach every address. Confirming availability for a specific village or postcode by telephone is the fastest way to shorten the list.
What should I ask a home care agency before choosing one?
Ask whether the agency genuinely covers the address and at the times required, then ask how many carers will attend across a month. Establish how sickness and late calls are handled, who staffs the office out of hours and how quickly the care plan can be changed. Request the most recent inspection report and ask what has altered since, particularly if the rating fell below Good. Questions about training in dementia, moving and handling, and medication support are also worth asking.
What is the difference between a care home and a nursing home?
A residential care home provides accommodation together with personal care, meaning help with washing, dressing, meals and everyday routine. A nursing home holds a further registration allowing registered nurses to deliver clinical care on site, which becomes necessary for wound care, complex medication or continuous monitoring of a condition. Home care is a separate option again, bringing support to the person where they already live. A care needs assessment is the usual way to establish which of the three fits.
