The shape of a care package
Home care is support delivered where somebody already lives, arranged around the moments in the day that have become hard to manage alone. Most packages start with a single morning call for washing, dressing and medication, then expand as needs change. Questions worth asking every agency
Ask how many different carers will attend over a fortnight and whether a small consistent team is kept for each person. Find out how the agency tells families when a call is running late, who answers the telephone at weekends and how complaints are recorded. Ask whether travel time is charged, which matters more in rural areas than most families expect.
