Oakley Grange is a residential care home in Warwick. We look after older people who need daily care, including people living with dementia, and we also support people with physical disabilities, people with a visual or hearing impairment, and younger adults who need residential care. Our aim is a house that feels like a home. People get up when they wake, eat food they recognise and enjoy, and spend their days as they choose, in company or quietly on their own. For someone living with dementia, familiar faces and a routine that holds together do more good than anything complicated, and so does having enough time in the day that nobody is hurried through anything. Where somebody has a sensory or physical impairment we pay attention to the environment as well as the support, since practical changes often do more for independence than extra help. Respite stays are part of what we offer, giving a family carer a proper break or supporting someone through a period of recovery after hospital. Until we are, we would rather you came and saw the house for yourself and spoke to the people living here. If you would like to look round, please ring us and come at a time that suits you.

    • Care Home

Bradbury Court is a residential care home in Market Drayton supporting adults with a range of needs, including adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, people living with mental ill health, people with a physical disability, and people with sight or hearing loss. Many of the people who live here are younger adults, and we also offer respite stays for planned breaks or for a spell somewhere settled when things at home have become difficult. The house belongs to the people living in it. That means people decide how their own rooms look, take part in cooking, shopping and running the place as much as they want to, and keep up the college courses, jobs, clubs and friendships they had before they arrived. Support is planned with each person in the way that works for them, using whatever communication they prefer, and we allow time for decisions rather than pushing them through. Independence is the point of the work. If somebody wants to learn to cook a meal, travel a route on their own or manage their own money, we support that and we accept that learning involves some risk. Risks are discussed with the person and their family or advocate, and they are weighed rather than avoided. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Families, advocates and social workers are welcome to visit and to keep asking questions once someone has moved in. If you are considering Bradbury Court, come and meet the people who live here.

    • Care Home

We are Woodland View in Cannock, Staffordshire, a residential home offering short breaks and respite stays for older people and younger adults, including adults with learning disabilities, autistic adults, people with physical disabilities and people with a visual or hearing impairment. Short stays are what we are set up for, and that shapes everything about how we work. Somebody coming here for a few days or a fortnight has to settle quickly, in an unfamiliar house, with staff they may not know well, and that only happens if we have done the groundwork first. So we ask a great deal before a stay: how somebody likes their day to run, what they eat, what they enjoy, how they let us know when they are unhappy, and what tends to unsettle them. Then we keep to it. Short breaks matter for two reasons. They give family carers a genuine rest, which is often what allows an arrangement at home to continue for years rather than months. And they give the person staying with us their own time away, with their own choices, which is worth having in its own right. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please contact us to look round or discuss a stay.

    • Care Home

We are a residential home in Telford supporting adults with learning disabilities and autistic people, including younger adults. The house runs as a household rather than an institution. The people who live here have their own rooms and their own things, and they take part in deciding how the place works: what is cooked, when meals happen, what gets bought and what everyone does at the weekend. For adults who have often had very little say in daily life, that ordinary degree of control is the heart of what we are trying to do. Support is built around each person and what they want to be able to do. For some that means work, college or volunteering. For others it is about getting out regularly, keeping up with family, managing money with a hand from staff, learning to do more in the kitchen, or simply having people around who understand how they communicate and what unsettles them. Predictability counts for a great deal here, so we keep staffing as consistent as we can and try not to change arrangements without warning and proper explanation. Respite stays are available as well as longer places, which can give a family a planned break while the person stays somewhere settled and properly supported. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. If you are looking for a place for yourself or someone in your family, please come and visit and ask us anything.

Here at Housing 21 The Watermill, we are proud to be part of the Walsall community, offering residential care, respite care and specialist support for older people in a warm and homely setting. Life here is built around the individual. We take time to get to know each person properly, not just their care needs but their routines, their preferences, their histories and what genuinely matters to them. That understanding shapes everything from how we plan each day to how we support people through more challenging times. Whether someone is joining us for a longer stay or for a shorter period of respite, we want them to feel at home from the moment they arrive. Respite care is something we take particularly seriously. We know it can feel like a big step, so we put a lot of thought into making sure the transition is as smooth and reassuring as possible, both for the person coming to stay and for their family. Our team in Walsall are a close knit group who genuinely enjoy what they do and who look out for one another as well as for the people in their care. That atmosphere makes a real difference to the feel of the place. If you are looking for care for yourself or for someone you love, we would always encourage you to come and visit us, have a look around and ask us anything. We are an open and welcoming home and we would love to meet you.

    • Care Home

Amber House Residential Home is in Burton on Trent, providing residential care to older people, with respite stays available too. We are a home for people who need help with everyday living rather than nursing care, and many of our residents live with dementia. We would far rather families read that here than come across it elsewhere and wonder why we did not mention it. We understand what was identified, we are working through it, and we are willing to go through both the findings and our response in detail with anyone who asks. What we are working towards is not complicated. Residents should be supported by people who know them well, at a pace that suits them, in a routine that makes sense. Dementia care in particular depends on familiarity and on staff having the time to understand what someone is trying to communicate, and getting the basics consistently right is how that becomes possible. The people living here remain our first concern throughout, and their families deserve honesty from us about the problems as well as the progress. If you are considering a place for a relative, please come and visit, ask us hard questions, and judge the home on what you see.

Golden Horizon Care Home is a residential care home in Bewdley, Worcestershire, providing care for older people, including people living with dementia, people with physical disabilities, and people with loss of sight or hearing. We run the home at the pace of the people in it. Breakfast happens when somebody wakes rather than when a trolley comes round, and the day takes the shape a person wants. The care covers help with washing and dressing, medication, meals cooked here, support with mobility, and somebody always around when a person needs them. For those living with dementia we keep the routine steady and the faces familiar, and we arrange the house so that it is easy to understand and to move about in. For people with loss of sight or hearing we adapt how we communicate, how rooms are lit and how we approach and announce ourselves. Families are welcome whenever they wish to come. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places. Our most recent rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.

    • Care Home

St Ives Close is a residential care home in Tamworth, Staffordshire, supporting adults with a learning disability and autistic adults. We also offer respite stays. We are a small house and that is deliberate. Support built around real people works better than support built around a timetable, and in a house this size everyone who works here knows everyone who lives here. What we are aiming at is not a tidily run home for its own sake. It is that the people living here get on with the things they actually want to do, with us handling the parts that are genuinely difficult and keeping out of the way of the parts that are not. Getting there means knowing people properly. How somebody communicates when they are anxious and words are harder to reach. What their sensory needs are. Which parts of a week are reliably hard and what actually helps when a day starts to go wrong. We write that down clearly, and support plans are written with the person in words that are theirs. Respite stays are arranged with visits beforehand so that arriving is familiar. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.

The Hollies is a residential care home in Birmingham. We support older people who need help with daily life and adults with a learning disability, autistic adults and people with mental health needs. We also offer respite stays for those who need care for a short while. Supporting people with quite different needs under one roof works only if you plan around each person, so that is what we do. Everyone has their own plan, agreed with them and with anyone they want involved, covering not just the help they need but how they want their days to go. An older resident who wants a settled routine and a younger adult who is out at college most of the week both live here on their own terms. The basics apply to everybody. People choose when to get up, what to eat and how much company they want. Privacy is respected and personal care is given quietly and without fuss. Rooms are furnished with people's own belongings. Our team stays as settled as we can manage, because knowing somebody properly is what lets you notice an early change and understand what lies behind distress rather than simply managing it. Health needs are dealt with alongside local GPs and community teams, and families are told promptly when anything changes. The Care Quality Commission rated us good overall at our most recent inspection. Please come and look round.

We provide residential care for older people and for younger adults, including people living with dementia, people with physical disabilities and people with a visual or hearing impairment, and we also offer respite stays for those who need care for a short period or whose regular carer needs a rest. Moving into a care home is rarely a decision anyone makes lightly, so we try to make the first weeks as unhurried as possible. We ask about the routines someone has kept for years, the food they actually like, how they take their tea, whether they prefer company or their own room, and we build from there rather than expecting people to fit around us. Day to day, that means people get up and go to bed when they choose, can bring furniture and pictures from home, and can carry on with what they enjoy, be it gardening, the newspaper, cards, music or simply watching the comings and goings. Where someone is living with dementia, we work to keep the surroundings calm and familiar and to understand what lies behind any distress. We have not yet received an overall rating from the Care Quality Commission, and we are happy to talk through our own quality checks with anyone who asks. Families are welcome here at any reasonable hour. Please come and visit us in Tamworth before you decide anything.

Karam Court Care Home is a residential home in Smethwick. We care for older people, including many residents living with dementia, and we offer respite stays alongside permanent places. As a residential setting our focus is on everyday life supported well, with community health professionals involved when someone needs them. The quality of a care home shows in ordinary moments rather than in anything written about it. Whether a person is helped to get up at the hour they would choose. Whether the food is worth looking forward to. Whether the person helping you wash knows your name and something of your history. Whether anybody notices when you are out of sorts and acts on it. That is where our effort goes, and it takes more discipline to sustain than it sounds, because the pressures of a rota pull the other way. For residents living with dementia we keep staffing steady and the day predictable, and we ask families for the details of a person's working life, their family and the places they knew, since those are the threads that make conversation possible. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.

Phoenix House is a residential home in Worcester supporting adults with a learning disability and autistic adults. We offer permanent places and respite stays. We want to be open about our current position. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is Requires Improvement. We understand what was identified, we are working through it, and we will go over the findings and our response with anyone who asks. What we are working towards is what this kind of support should always rest on. People known properly as individuals rather than looked after as a group. Staff who understand how each person communicates and who give them the time they need rather than hurrying them along. A routine that belongs to the person rather than to the building. Support that helps somebody do things for themselves instead of doing things to them. Records and reporting that are accurate and prompt. None of that is complicated to describe. Doing it consistently, every day and for everybody, is the work, and that is where our attention is. Mayfield House is a residential care home in Telford supporting adults with a learning disability and autistic adults. We are deliberately a home rather than a facility, and the people living here are supported to run their own lives as far as they are able. Ordinary life is the point of the place. That means cooking, shopping, keeping your own room exactly as you want it, getting out to college, work or a club, and having a genuine say in how the week is arranged. For autistic residents we pay close attention to the things that make a home manageable: predictable routines, proper warning before anything changes, and a quiet space to retreat to when the day has been a lot. Support is offered at whatever level suits the person. We help where help is genuinely wanted and stand back where it is not, and we are as interested in what somebody can do independently as in what they need a hand with. Respite stays are also available, which can give a family a break or serve as a trial for somebody considering a move. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is Good. Regent Residential Care Home is in Worcester, and we support older people who need help with daily living, including those living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities, autistic people, people with physical disabilities, people living with sight or hearing loss, and younger adults. Respite stays are available as well. A household this varied only works if people are treated as individuals rather than as categories, and that is genuinely how we run the place. Support is agreed with the person, written in terms they recognise, and reviewed as things change. Some residents need a great deal of hands on help with washing, dressing, medication and mobility. Others mainly want a settled home and support that is available when they ask for it. For autistic people, predictability is a need rather than a preference, so changes are explained in advance, staffing is kept consistent where we can, and noise, light and busyness are taken seriously. For residents living with dementia we keep routines and surroundings familiar and give people time. For those with physical disabilities or sight and hearing loss, the emphasis is on equipment that fits, safe transfers and unhurried communication. Wherever we can, we do things alongside people rather than for them, because a skill used is a skill kept. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Queensway House is a nursing home in Stafford providing both nursing and residential care. Having qualified nursing staff on hand throughout the day and night means people can stay somewhere familiar as their needs change, rather than facing another move at the point when a move is hardest. We support older people and younger adults, including people managing a mental health condition. Because we offer residential as well as nursing care, we can support people whose needs vary considerably, and we take care not to run one routine and expect everyone to fit it. Alongside the clinical side of our work, the ordinary shape of a day gets just as much attention. Whether someone can get up when they want, eat something they actually fancy, have company when they want it and quiet when they do not, and carry on doing whatever they can still manage for themselves. Respite care is available too, whether planned so a family carer can take a proper break or arranged while someone regains strength after a hospital stay. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Relatives are welcome here, and we would rather raise a concern early than explain it afterwards. Stoneleigh House is a residential home in the Sandwell area of Birmingham, supporting adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, people living with mental health conditions, and people with a visual or hearing impairment. Many of the people here are younger adults, and we offer respite stays alongside permanent places. Supporting that range under one roof only works if each person is known properly. A house where everybody is offered the same routine will suit some and quietly fail others, so we start from the individual: what they want their week to contain, what they find difficult, and which parts of life they would rather manage themselves. Communication gets particular attention here. So much of what goes wrong in this kind of support comes down to somebody not being understood, or not being given the time to make themselves understood. For residents with a sensory impairment that also means practical care over lighting, contrast and sitting where your face can be seen. Because many of the people here are younger adults, the point of the support is a life rather than a placement: friends, family, getting out, work or college where that is wanted, and real choices about the everyday. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is Good. Families and professionals are welcome to visit and see how the house runs.

    • Care Home

We at Hastings Residential Care Home are proud to offer warm, person centred residential care in the beautiful spa town of Malvern, Worcestershire. Nestled within the West Midlands and surrounded by the natural splendour of the Malvern Hills, our home provides a welcoming sanctuary where residents can feel truly at home. Our setting in the WR postcode area places us within easy reach of Malvern's charming local amenities, peaceful green spaces, and the wider Worcestershire countryside. Families visiting loved ones will find our location both accessible and tranquil, offering the perfect balance of community connection and restful surroundings. The natural beauty of the area provides a calming backdrop to daily life at our home, with the rolling landscapes of the Malverns providing inspiration for outings, gentle walks, and quiet moments of reflection. At the heart of what we do is a deep commitment to supporting older people, including those living with dementia, physical disabilities, and visual or hearing impairments. We also extend our care to younger adults who require residential support, recognising that compassionate care is needed at many stages of life. For families navigating a dementia diagnosis, our team understands the importance of patience, familiarity, and consistent routines. We work to create an environment where memory difficulties are met with understanding rather than frustration, and where each resident retains their sense of identity, dignity, and personal history. For those living with physical disabilities or sensory impairments, we focus on enabling independence wherever possible, adapting our approach so that every individual can engage meaningfully with daily life. Our staff take time to learn the preferences, routines, and life stories of those in our care, because we believe that good care begins with truly knowing the person. This means families can feel confident that their loved one is seen as a unique individual, not simply a set of needs to be managed. We are pleased to share that the Care Quality Commission has rated us Good overall, with Good ratings across every domain assessed, including Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, and Well led. This consistent recognition reflects the dedication of our team and the standards we uphold every day. For families, a Good rating from the CQC offers reassurance that an independent regulator has reviewed our practices and found them to meet the expectations set for quality care across England. We see this not as a destination but as a foundation from which we continue to learn, listen, and improve. Choosing a care home is one of the most significant decisions a family can make, and we understand the emotional weight that comes with it. Whether you are researching options for the future or facing a more immediate need, we warmly invite you to get in touch, ask questions, and arrange a visit to see our home for yourself. Meeting our team, exploring the environment, and sensing the atmosphere first hand often brings the clarity and peace of mind that no brochure can provide. We are here to listen, to guide, and to support your family through every step of the journey, and we look forward to welcoming you to Hastings Residential Care Home.

We at Abbey Care Direct are proud to offer a welcoming residential care home in Shrewsbury, where compassionate support meets genuine community spirit. Nestled in the historic county town of Shropshire, our home provides a comfortable base for older people and adults who benefit from a little extra help with daily living. Set within the SY postcode area of Shrewsbury, our location places residents close to the familiar surroundings of the West Midlands, with the gentle pace and green spaces that the county is so well known for. The setting has been thoughtfully arranged to feel less like an institution and more like a home, where residents can relax, socialise, and enjoy moments of quiet reflection in equal measure. Our care is shaped around the individual, and we welcome residents with a wide range of needs. We support older people seeking residential care, as well as those living with dementia, mental health conditions, physical disabilities, and visual or hearing impairment. We also extend our care to younger adults who require a supportive environment tailored to their circumstances. In practice, this means our team takes time to understand each person's history, preferences, and routines, building care plans that honour who they are rather than simply addressing what they need. For families, it brings peace of mind to know that a loved one is being supported holistically, with dignity placed at the heart of every interaction. Caring for someone living with dementia, for example, calls for patience, consistency, and a calm environment, and we strive to provide all three. For residents with sensory impairments or physical disabilities, we focus on enabling independence wherever possible, adapting our approach so that everyone can take part in daily life on their own terms. Mental health support is delivered with sensitivity and without judgement, creating space for residents to feel safe, heard, and understood. We are pleased that the Care Quality Commission has rated Abbey Care Direct as Good overall, with Good ratings across all five domains of Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, and Well led, following inspection. This independent recognition reflects the standards we hold ourselves to every day, from the way we safeguard residents and deliver effective care, to the warmth of our team, our responsiveness to changing needs, and the leadership that guides our home. Choosing a care home is one of the most important decisions a family can make, and we understand the weight that comes with it. If you are exploring options for a loved one in Shrewsbury or the wider Shropshire area, we warmly invite you to get in touch with Abbey Care Direct. We would be delighted to answer your questions, share more about our approach, and help you decide whether our home is the right next chapter for your family.

    • Care Home

Silver Birch Care Home is a residential care home in Birmingham, providing older people with a comfortable place to live and support close at hand. We aim to get the ordinary things right, because good food, warm rooms, unhurried mornings and staff with time to sit down are what actually make a home work. We help with personal care, medication, mobility and meals, and equally with the parts of a day that give it value. Some residents want company, conversation and plenty going on. Others would rather have their own room and a bit of peace, and both are perfectly reasonable. Rooms are personalised, routines are kept close to what people are used to, and relatives are welcome whenever they can come. Respite stays are available for people needing care for a short period. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is Requires Improvement. We would rather set that out ourselves than have you find it elsewhere. We understood what was asked of us, we have been working steadily through it, and we are happy to go through the detail with any family who asks. Please come and visit at an ordinary hour, talk to residents and staff, and judge the place on what you actually find.

Homewood is a residential care home in Leamington Spa, offering older people and younger adults a comfortable place to live with support always close at hand. We try to keep the feel of a household rather than an institution, with days led by the people living them. Supporting residents living with dementia is a substantial part of our work. We approach it by learning who somebody is, keeping routines familiar and the day unhurried, giving notice before anything changes, and looking for the cause when a resident is unsettled rather than treating it as behaviour to be contained. Our team helps with personal care, medication, mobility and meals, and equally with the parts of the day that give it value: conversation, company for those who want it, quiet for those who do not, and time outdoors when the weather allows. Rooms are personalised and relatives are welcome whenever they can come. Respite stays are available for people needing care for a short period, which some families use as a break and others as a first step. • Care Home

Here at Westley Brook Close, we provide residential care for adults in Birmingham, with a particular focus on supporting people with learning disabilities and autism. We also offer respite care, giving family carers the opportunity to take a break while knowing their loved one is in safe, familiar hands. We understand that choosing a care home is one of the most significant decisions a family can make, and we do not take that responsibility lightly. Our approach centres on getting to know each person as an individual — their routines, their preferences, what brings them comfort and what helps them thrive. For people with learning disabilities or autism, consistency and understanding matter enormously, and we work hard to ensure our environment feels predictable, calm and genuinely welcoming. Respite care is something we take great care with. Arriving somewhere new, even briefly, can feel unsettling, so we put a lot of thought into how we welcome people and help them settle in quickly. Many families tell us the peace of mind they feel during a respite stay makes a real difference to their own wellbeing, and that means a great deal to us. We are proud that our most recent Care Quality Commission inspection rated us as Good. We see that not as a ceiling but as a reflection of the standards we hold ourselves to every day. We are always looking at how we can do things better, whether that is how we communicate with the people we support, how we involve families, or how we develop our team. If you would like to find out whether Westley Brook Close might be the right fit for your loved one, we would be very happy to have a conversation. We are always open to questions and welcome visits so you can see the home and meet the team for yourself.

Here at Bryden House, we provide nursing home care for older adults in the heart of Kidderminster, Worcestershire. We are proud to have received a "Good" rating from the Care Quality Commission, which reflects the genuine effort our team puts in every single day to make this a place where people feel safe, comfortable and truly at home. We support a wide range of needs under one roof. Whether someone is living with dementia, managing a physical disability, requiring nursing care or simply needing a short respite stay to recover or give a family carer some breathing space, we work hard to make sure every person receives support that is tailored to them as an individual. Residential care is also available for those who need a little extra help with daily living but do not require nursing level input. Dementia care is something we take particularly seriously. We understand how unsettling it can be for a person and their family when a diagnosis changes daily life, and we aim to create an environment that feels calm, familiar and reassuring. Our approach is to get to know each resident as a person, understanding their history, preferences and routines, so that care feels personal rather than routine. We also know how important family is. Moving into a care home, whether permanently or for a short stay, is a significant moment, and we do not take that lightly. We encourage family members to stay involved, ask questions and feel confident that their loved one is in good hands. If you would like to find out more about life at Bryden House or come and have a look around, we would be very happy to hear from you. We are always open to a conversation about how we might be able to help.

We are a residential care home in Sedgley, providing a home for older people who need support to get comfortably through the day. We try to keep the feel of a household rather than a facility, with people bringing their own furniture and belongings and carrying on with what they enjoy. We help with personal care, mobility, meals and medication, and we care for people living with dementia, where familiar staff, steady routines and unhurried time do more good than anything more elaborate. We also support people living with mental health needs, where a calm and reliable house counts for a great deal, and people with a physical disability, thinking carefully about how rooms are arranged so that independence is not quietly worn away by small obstacles. Respite stays are available as well, whether to give a family carer a proper break or to let someone try the home for a short period before making a longer decision. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We would far rather a resident or relative raised a concern while it was still small, so we ask often and we act on what we hear. You would be very welcome to visit, look round and meet the people who live and work here before deciding anything.

Laurel End, part of the Polesworth Group, is a residential care home in Tamworth, Warwickshire, supporting adults with a learning disability or autism alongside older people who need residential care. It is a home rather than a placement, and we want it to feel that way to everyone living here. Support is planned individually. It can include help with personal care, medication, cooking, laundry, money and appointments, and it also covers the parts of life that are too easily treated as extras: friendships, going out, keeping up an interest, having something to look forward to. We communicate in whatever way suits each person and we let people do things their own way and at their own pace, even when it would be quicker to step in. Where somebody wants greater independence, we plan support that withdraws as their confidence grows. We support younger adults as well as older residents, and we do not assume that people want the same things simply because they share a roof. Respite stays are available, giving family carers a real break and letting somebody try the house first. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please come and visit, meet the people who live here and see how the household works.

We are Karenza Care Home, a care home in Rowley Regis in Sandwell. We provide residential care for older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia and people managing mental health conditions, and we offer respite stays for those who need care for a short while. We plan care one person at a time, because the people living here do not have a single shared set of needs. What helps somebody with dementia feel calm is not what helps somebody managing a long standing mental health condition, and trying to run one routine for everybody tends to suit nobody. So we spend time on detail: how a person likes to be spoken to, what they can still do themselves, what tends to make a difficult day and what heads it off. Dementia care in particular rests on patience and a familiar rhythm. We keep the day recognisable, avoid surprises, and when somebody is distressed we look for the cause rather than simply trying to settle them. Families frequently know exactly what works, and we would much rather be told than find out slowly. People here decide when they get up, what they eat, what they do and who they see. Visitors are welcome at whatever time suits, and we would far rather hear a worry early and directly than have it kept quiet. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. We keep asking residents and relatives where we still need to improve.

In practice, this means our approach is built around understanding each person as an individual, recognising their preferences, routines and aspirations. We take the time to listen, to learn and to adapt, so that the support we offer feels personal rather than prescribed. For families, this means reassurance that your loved one is being cared for by people who truly understand the nuances of their needs and who are committed to helping them live a meaningful, dignified life. Daily life at Hunters Lodge is shaped around the people who live here. We encourage independence wherever possible, supporting residents to make choices about their day, develop skills, pursue interests and engage with the wider community. For younger adults in particular, this focus on growth and possibility is central to what we do. We work closely with families, healthcare professionals and advocates to ensure that every person has the right support in place, whether that involves help with daily routines, encouragement to try something new, or sensitive guidance through more challenging moments. We understand that choosing a care home is one of the most significant decisions a family can make. That is why we place such importance on building trusting relationships, not only with the people who live here but with the loved ones who continue to play such an important role in their lives. Communication, openness and warmth are at the heart of everything we do. Hunters Lodge has been rated Good by the Care Quality Commission, achieving a Good rating across all five inspection domains: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-led. This independent recognition reflects the standard of care, the safety of our environment, the effectiveness of our support, the compassion of our team and the strength of our leadership. For families, the CQC rating offers an assurance that the care provided here meets the expectations of a respected national regulator across every aspect of life in our home. If you are exploring residential care options in Hereford for a loved one with a learning disability, autism or mental health needs, we would be delighted to hear from you. We warmly invite you to get in touch, ask any questions you may have and arrange a visit so you can see for yourself the atmosphere and ethos of Hunters Lodge. Choosing the right home is deeply personal, and we are here to walk alongside you with patience, understanding and genuine care every step of the way.

    • Care Home

We are a residential care home in Birmingham supporting adults with mental health needs, including younger adults, and we also offer respite stays. A good deal of what we do is about stability. Many of the people who come to us have had periods of upheaval, hospital admissions or living arrangements that broke down, and what helps most is a settled place, a predictable routine and staff who do not come and go. We provide support with medicines, appointments, personal care where it is needed, cooking, budgeting and the ordinary business of running a life, and we do it without taking over. We work closely with community mental health teams, care coordinators and GPs, and we take part in reviews properly rather than treating them as paperwork. When someone is becoming unwell, early action makes a real difference, so our team is trained to notice changes and to raise them straight away. Recovery looks different for everybody. For some people it means moving on to their own tenancy in time, and we will support that ambition and work towards it honestly. For others it means keeping stable, staying out of hospital and having a home they do not have to worry about losing. Both are worth our full effort. We do not currently hold an overall rating from the Care Quality Commission. We are happy to talk through how we work with anyone considering a placement, and to arrange a visit.

    • Care Home

We are a residential care home in Stoke on Trent, providing a home for older people who need help with daily living, including those living with dementia. Our aim is an unhurried house. A good deal of care is spoiled simply by being rushed, so we try to give people the time to wash, dress and eat at their own pace, and to sit with somebody who wants to talk rather than moving straight on to the next task. Residents keep their own rooms, belongings and routines as far as we can manage, and they decide how much they want to be part of whatever is happening. Dementia care comes down to knowing the person. We ask families to tell us about working life, children, music, faith and old habits, because that knowledge is what allows a member of staff to reassure somebody who is anxious or cannot place where they are. Respite stays are available as well as permanent places. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission was requires improvement. We would rather tell you that ourselves than leave you to find it later. We are working through the points the inspectors raised, and if you are considering the home for someone close to you we will go through the report with you and answer whatever you want to ask. Please come and see the place as it really is. Talking to the people who live here will tell you more than we can.

    • Care Home

Warwick House is a residential care home in Coventry. We support older people and younger adults who need help with daily living, including people living with mental health conditions. What we offer is residential rather than nursing care. Staff are on duty day and night to help with washing, dressing, medication and meals and to keep the household running, while doctors and district nurses come in when clinical care is needed. For a great many people that is exactly the right level of support, and it costs them far less of their independence than a clinical setting would. Supporting people with mental health conditions in a residential setting works best when it is steady and undramatic. People arrive at different points, some after a long spell in hospital, some when living alone has stopped being workable. What most people need is not intensity but stability, and a place where the basics are taken care of while they find their footing again. So we keep the house calm and predictable. Beyond the practical help, people run their own lives: how they spend the day, who visits, what they eat and how much they join in. Supporting a mixed age group takes planning, and we build around the individual rather than assuming everyone wants the same week. Respite and short stays are available. Please ring us to arrange a visit.

For families, it brings the reassurance that their loved one is understood as a whole person, not simply a set of needs. We are pleased to share that our most recent Care Quality Commission inspection, carried out in April 2023, awarded us an overall rating of Good. This rating was reflected consistently across every domain assessed, with Good ratings achieved for being safe, effective, caring, responsive and well led. For families, this offers meaningful reassurance: it reflects an environment where residents are kept safe, where care is delivered effectively, where kindness sits at the heart of our culture, where the home responds thoughtfully to changing needs, and where strong leadership underpins everything we do. Choosing a care home is one of the most important decisions a family can make, and we understand the weight of that responsibility. If you are exploring residential care in Burntwood for yourself or someone you love, we warmly invite you to learn more about life at 235 Rugeley Road. Our door is open, and we would be honoured to support your family through this next chapter with the care, respect and understanding everyone deserves.

We are Tree Tops, a residential care home in Burton on Trent. We support older people and younger adults, including adults with learning disabilities, autistic adults and people with a visual or hearing impairment. Respite stays are available. We plan around individuals rather than around a single routine. The people living here have quite different notions of a good week. Some want to be busy, with work, college, sport or regular groups and plenty of getting out into the town. Others want quiet and a rhythm they can rely on, and where change is unsettling we keep things steady and prepare carefully for anything unusual. This is their home, so decisions about food, decoration and how time is spent belong to the people living in it. Communication gets proper attention too, because how somebody prefers to be given information is the basis of everything else rather than a detail to be settled later. We have not yet received an overall rating from the Care Quality Commission. Until we have, we would encourage families and commissioners to ask us detailed questions about staffing, training and how support is planned here. Please contact us if you would like to look round.

Parkfield Grange is a residential care home in Stourbridge, and we provide a home for older people who need support with daily living, for younger adults who need a supportive household, for people with physical disabilities and for people living with sight or hearing loss. Respite stays are available as well. What we aim for is an ordinary life with help attached rather than a routine everybody has to fit. Residents decide when to get up, where to sit, whether they want company or quiet, and what they would like to eat. We help with personal care, dressing, medication and mobility, doing only as much as somebody actually needs, because taking over is easy and rarely helpful. Dementia care is a large part of our work, and the practical side of it is unglamorous. Keeping the daily rhythm and surroundings consistent. Giving somebody time to find their words instead of finishing their sentence. Knowing enough about a person's earlier life to understand what a worry is really about. Families hold most of that knowledge and we ask for it early. For residents with physical disabilities our attention goes to equipment that fits and transfers handled safely and without embarrassment. For those living with sight or hearing loss, unhurried communication makes most of the difference. We have not yet had an overall rating published by the Care Quality Commission, which we say plainly rather than leaving you to look it up. Come and see us on an ordinary afternoon and ask us whatever you like.

We are a residential care home in West Bromwich, providing a home for older people who need help to get comfortably through the day. We try to keep the feel of a household rather than an institution, with people bringing their own furniture and pictures, keeping their own hours where they can, and carrying on with what they enjoy. We help with personal care, mobility, meals and medication, and we look after people living with dementia. What works with dementia, in our experience, is nothing elaborate: familiar staff, routines that stay steady and enough time that nothing has to be rushed. An unhurried day is usually a good day. Respite stays are available as well, whether that gives a family carer a proper rest after a long stretch of managing at home, or lets someone try the home for a short period before deciding about anything longer. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We think keeping it depends on hearing about small problems while they are still small, so we ask residents and relatives often and we act on what they tell us. Do come and see us if you are looking at homes in this area. A look round, a chat with the people who live here and a cup of tea will tell you more than any brochure.

We are Breach House, a residential care home in Stourbridge. We provide a home for older people, including those living with dementia, and we also take respite stays. Residential care means helping with the parts of daily life that have become hard work and leaving everything else in the hands of the person themselves. Washing and dressing, meals, medication, getting about safely, and the ordinary company that makes a day worth getting up for. For health needs beyond what we provide, we work alongside district nurses and GPs rather than stretching to cover something we should not, and we are straightforward with families about where that line falls. Dementia shapes much of our day. We have learned that correcting somebody's version of events achieves nothing, and that knowing who a person has been tells us far more than any list of symptoms. Someone who worked for decades to a particular rhythm often still carries it, and a routine built around that goes better than one imposed on top of it. When a resident is distressed there is nearly always a reason, and it is more often practical than people expect. Respite guests get the same assessment and the same welcome as anyone living here permanently, whether they are recovering after a spell in hospital or giving a family carer a rest.

Field Farm House Residential Home is a care home in Hereford, Herefordshire. We support older people and younger adults, people living with dementia, those managing mental ill health and people with physical disabilities, and we take respite bookings for stays of a few weeks. We aim for a homely place with a day that belongs to the people living in it. Rooms hold people's own things, meals are worth sitting down to, and there is company for those who want it and quiet for those who do not. Our staff work with people they know well, which is what lets them notice early when somebody is not their usual self and get the GP or district nurse involved before a small problem grows. We want to be open about our regulator rather than leave you to find out elsewhere. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission found that we require improvement overall. We took that seriously. There is an action plan, we are working through it with the whole team, and we will talk any family through exactly what was raised, what has changed and what is still in hand. Relatives are welcome at any reasonable hour and we would much rather hear a concern the day it arises. If you are looking at care in the Hereford area, please come and see the home for yourself.

We at Gorsefield Residential Home are proud to offer a warm and welcoming residential care setting in Stoke on Trent, where older people can enjoy comfortable living, compassionate support, and a genuine sense of community. Our home has been thoughtfully designed to feel just that, a home, where every resident is treated as an individual with their own story, preferences, and routines. Nestled within the ST postcode area of Stoke on Trent, our location offers residents the benefit of familiar surroundings within the West Midlands, close to local amenities and the wider community they know and love. The environment inside Gorsefield has been created to feel calm, homely, and reassuring, providing comfortable communal spaces for socialising alongside quieter areas for reading, reflection, or spending time with visiting family and friends. We believe that a welcoming physical environment plays an essential role in helping residents feel settled and at ease from the very first day. Our specialism lies in older person care, delivered through both long term residential arrangements and respite stays. For families, this means peace of mind knowing that their loved one is supported by a team who understand the needs of older adults, from everyday personal care through to the emotional wellbeing that comes with companionship, routine, and dignity. For residents, it means waking each day in a place where support is available whenever it is needed, whilst independence, choice, and personal preferences are always respected. Respite care is an important part of what we offer, providing short term stays for those who may be recovering from a hospital admission, needing a break from living alone, or whose regular carers require some time to rest and recharge. Families often find that a respite stay with us offers reassurance and continuity, and many discover that our home becomes a familiar and trusted place they are happy to return to. We are pleased to share that Gorsefield Residential Home was rated Good by the Care Quality Commission following the inspection carried out on 28 November 2024. This Good rating was awarded across all five key areas assessed by the CQC, namely Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, and Well led. For families, this consistency across every domain offers meaningful reassurance that the care provided is not only kind and considerate but also safe, thoughtfully delivered, and guided by strong leadership. We view this rating as recognition of our team's dedication, and as motivation to keep improving every aspect of daily life for those in our care. Choosing a care home is one of the most important decisions a family can make, and we understand the mix of emotions that often accompanies that journey. At Gorsefield Residential Home, our aim is to make that decision easier by offering honesty, warmth, and a genuine commitment to the wellbeing of every resident who joins us. If you are exploring residential or respite care in Stoke on Trent for yourself or a loved one, we warmly invite you to get in touch, ask questions, and discover whether our home could be the right place to begin the next chapter with confidence and comfort.

Longest since a CQC report

Arranging and funding a care home place in the West Midlands

West Midlands has a large and varied residential care sector, with 1,199 care homes currently listed across the region. That breadth means families have real choice, but it also makes narrowing down the options harder. A residential care home provides a permanent or long-stay home for older people and adults who need help with day to day tasks such as washing, dressing, meals, medication prompts, and moving safely around the building. Staff are on hand around the clock, though the emphasis is on personal and social support rather than clinical nursing.

Reading CQC ratings across the region

Every home listed has been inspected by the Care Quality Commission, and the West Midlands sample reflects the full range of outcomes. You will find homes rated Outstanding, such as The Gardens, Whitegates, Davlyn House, Burcot Grange, The Cottage and R M P Care at 20 Oulton Road. The majority sit at Good, including well established homes like Trinity Lodge, Sedgley Court, Metchley Manor, Eastcote Park Care Home and Bowbrook House. Some homes carry a Requires Improvement rating, for example The Elms, Belvidere Residential Care Home and Nelson House, and Inglewood Residential Home is currently rated Inadequate. A small number, including Joseph House and Ladybird House, are not yet rated because they are newer registrations or awaiting reinspection.

Practical things to weigh up

Location within the West Midlands matters more than families sometimes expect. Being close enough for regular visits from relatives makes a real difference to wellbeing, so consider transport links and parking as well as the home itself. Beyond ratings, look at how the home feels on the day you visit: the atmosphere in the lounges, whether staff speak to residents by name, the quality and choice of meals, and whether activities suit the person you are arranging care for. Ask about staff turnover, how the home handles changing needs, and how families are kept informed.

Choosing between care homes in the West Midlands

Before choosing a home, most families begin with a care needs assessment. This is a free assessment carried out by the local authority Adult Social Care team, and it looks at what daily support the person needs and whether residential care is the right setting. If eligible needs are identified, a financial assessment follows to work out how much the person contributes and how much, if anything, the local authority pays.

How funding usually works

Funding depends on savings, property and income. In England, people with capital above the upper threshold generally pay the full weekly fee themselves, while those below it may receive help from the local authority. If nursing input is needed, NHS-funded Nursing Care or, in some cases, NHS Continuing Healthcare can cover parts of the cost. Weekly fees in the West Midlands vary considerably depending on the home, room type and level of support, so it is worth asking each home for a full written breakdown before signing a contract.

Timing and next steps

It helps to begin conversations early, ideally before a crisis such as a hospital admission forces a quick decision. Shortlist three or four homes from the 1,181 available, visit each one, and ask for their latest CQC report. Homes such as Fountain Court, Chepstow House, Shenstone Hall and Welbeck House give a sense of the range across the region, from smaller family-run settings to larger purpose-built homes. Taking time now to compare properly usually leads to a more settled placement later.

Published prices are often starting prices, and come from homes that publish fees, so treat them as a guide. What a council pays differs from council to council. Ask the home for its own price.

What should I ask when visiting a residential care home in the West Midlands?

Ask how staffing levels are set day and night, and how long key staff have worked at the home. Enquire about the daily routine, the choice of meals, and what activities take place during a typical week. It is sensible to ask what happens if the resident's needs change, whether the home can support additional needs later on, and how families are kept informed. Also request a copy of the contract and a written breakdown of fees before making any commitment.

What is the difference between a residential care home and a nursing home?

A residential care home provides personal support with everyday tasks such as washing, dressing, meals and medication prompts, with staff on site around the clock. A nursing home does all of that but also has qualified nurses on duty at all times to manage clinical needs such as complex wound care, tube feeding or unstable long term conditions. The homes listed for the West Midlands here are residential rather than nursing. If nursing input becomes necessary, the care needs assessment will identify this and a different type of setting may be recommended.

Can the local authority fund a residential care home placement in the West Midlands?

The local authority can contribute to residential care fees where the person has eligible care needs and their finances fall within the means test thresholds. A financial assessment looks at savings, income and, where relevant, property to work out the contribution. People with capital above the upper threshold usually pay the full fee themselves, at least initially. Where nursing needs exist, NHS-funded Nursing Care or NHS Continuing Healthcare may cover part or all of the cost.

How do I arrange a care needs assessment in the West Midlands?

Contact the local authority adult social care team and request a care needs assessment for the person concerned. The assessment is free, and it can be arranged whether the person is at home, in hospital or already receiving some support. A social worker or assessor will look at daily living tasks, mobility, health, and social wellbeing to decide what level of support is appropriate. If residential care is recommended, a separate financial assessment will follow to work out funding.

How far in advance should I start looking for a care home in the West Midlands?

Ideally, start looking as soon as it becomes clear that residential care may be needed, even if the move is not imminent. Popular homes in the West Midlands, particularly those rated Outstanding or Good, can have waiting lists for certain room types. Beginning early gives time to visit several homes, read inspection reports, and speak with families of current residents. If a hospital discharge is driving the timeline, the ward's discharge team can help fast track an assessment and shortlist suitable homes.
