About Us

We are Woodland View in Cannock, Staffordshire, a residential home offering short breaks and respite stays for older people and younger adults, including adults with learning disabilities, autistic adults, people with physical disabilities and people with a visual or hearing impairment.

Short stays are what we are set up for, and that shapes everything about how we work. Somebody coming here for a few days or a fortnight has to settle quickly, in an unfamiliar house, with staff they may not know well, and that only happens if we have done the groundwork first. So we ask a great deal before a stay: how somebody likes their day to run, what they eat, what they enjoy, how they let us know when they are unhappy, and what tends to unsettle them. Then we keep to it.

Short breaks matter for two reasons. They give family carers a genuine rest, which is often what allows an arrangement at home to continue for years rather than months. And they give the person staying with us their own time away, with their own choices, which is worth having in its own right.

Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please contact us to look round or discuss a stay.
