Families weighing up care homes in Hampshire will find three hundred and sixteen registered providers gathered on this page, each of them a residential care home. Inspection outcomes across the collection differ: some homes hold an Outstanding rating from the Care Quality Commission, others are rated Good, some are marked Requires Improvement, and a few have registered too recently to have been rated at all. Hampshire County Council is the authority responsible for carrying out a care needs assessment, which establishes what level of daily support a person actually requires, and it also completes the separate financial assessment that decides whether any part of the fees will be met from public funds. Asking for both before a placement is agreed is worth doing, whatever the likely outcome on funding. Every home listed here has its own profile, so the sensible next step is to open the ones that suit your location and budget, read the inspection report sitting behind the rating rather than the rating alone, and let what you find there shape the questions you put to the manager when you visit.

- Care Home
Elm Lodge is a residential care home in Hook, Hampshire. We provide a home for older people, including those living with dementia and people with a physical disability, and we also offer respite stays when somebody needs a short period of care or when a family carer needs a rest. We are not a large place and we would not want to be. What we offer instead is attention to the person, which sounds modest and is actually the hardest thing in care to keep up. It means knowing how everybody likes their breakfast, which chair belongs to whom, who wants company in the morning and who would rather be left to read. We ask about these things, we record them and we expect them to be followed. Dementia support is a significant part of our work. Steady routines, familiar staff and patience do far more good than anything else, along with a genuine effort to understand what somebody means when the words have become unreliable. Families visit freely and we keep in touch openly rather than only when there is a difficulty. We are registered with the Care Quality Commission and we are glad to be asked about our staffing, our training and how we deal with concerns. If you are considering a care home in this part of Hampshire for a relative, please come and visit. Have a proper look round, meet our staff and residents, and ask us whatever you need to know before deciding anything.

- Care Home
Heywood Sumner House is a residential care home in Fordingbridge, Hampshire, supporting adults with learning disabilities, autistic adults and people living with mental ill health, including younger adults. We also offer respite stays. Supporting that mix of people properly means being specific rather than general. For an adult with a learning disability or an autistic adult it may mean a predictable routine, clear information given in good time, help with money and appointments, and support to get out to a job, a course or a club. For somebody living with mental ill health it may mean a settled, low pressure place to live, support to keep a routine that holds, and close work with the community mental health team so that what happens here fits with the rest of their care. Every plan is written with the individual and reviewed properly. We pay close attention to how each person communicates and to what makes a day feel manageable, and where somebody becomes distressed we look at why rather than simply managing the behaviour. We run this as the residents' home. People choose how their rooms look, have a real say in the meals and the shopping, and decide how their week is spent. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Families and professionals are welcome to visit.

- Care Home
Here at Newcroft, we provide residential care for a wide range of people from our home in Southampton, Hampshire. We support older adults, younger adults, people with learning disabilities or autism, and people living with physical disabilities. We also offer respite care for those who need a short term stay, whether planned or at short notice. We know that choosing a care home is one of the most significant decisions a person or their family will ever make. We take that responsibility seriously. Our aim is for everyone who lives here to feel genuinely at home, comfortable in their surroundings, and confident that the people supporting them actually know them as individuals rather than just knowing their care needs on paper. Day to day life at Newcroft is shaped around the people who live here. We work hard to understand what matters to each person, what they enjoy, how they like their routines, and what independence looks like for them. That understanding guides how we support people rather than a one size fits all approach. We are pleased that our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission resulted in an overall rating of Good. That outcome reflects the consistent effort our team puts in, and we continue to look at where we can do better. Our team brings a real mix of experience across the different areas we specialise in. Supporting someone with a learning disability or autism requires a different kind of knowledge and approach to supporting an older person with physical care needs, and we are proud that our staff are skilled across those areas. If you would like to find out more about Newcroft or come and have a look around, we would be very happy to hear from you. We are always glad to answer questions and help families feel informed and at ease.

- Care Home
Dolphin Court is a residential care home in Havant for adults with a learning disability and for autistic adults. We provide permanent places and also respite stays, which can give families who usually provide the support a planned break. Our starting point is that people should have as ordinary a life as possible. That means being known properly, having choice over the day, being supported to use shops, cafes, leisure centres and transport in Havant and the surrounding area, and having the chance to build skills at home rather than having everything done for them. Autistic people often need the environment to work differently, and we take that seriously. We think about noise, light and how busy the house feels, we give notice before things change, and we use whatever way of communicating suits the person rather than whatever suits us. Where someone becomes distressed, we look at what caused it and change the situation instead of simply managing the behaviour. Families and advocates know things about a person that no assessment will tell us, so we ask, and we keep asking. We work with community learning disability teams and other professionals across Hampshire to keep support joined up. The Care Quality Commission rates us good overall. If you are looking for a placement, or would like to talk about respite at Dolphin Court, please contact us and arrange to come and see the house.

Northfield House is a residential care home in Ringwood, Hampshire, supporting adults with a learning disability or autism, people with a physical disability and people with sight or hearing loss. We also offer respite stays, which can give a family carer a genuine break. This is somebody's home before it is anything else, and we try hard to run it that way. People have their own rooms, their own routines and a real say in how their days go. Support here is about making ordinary things possible rather than doing them for people. Cooking a meal you actually want. Doing your own shopping. Managing money and appointments. Getting to a club, a course or a job. Keeping in touch with family and friends. We pay attention to that distinction, because independence is quietly worn away by help that arrives too quickly. Communication matters a great deal to us. Not everybody here uses many words, and understanding somebody properly takes time, attention and a willingness to be corrected rather than assumptions. Where people have sight or hearing loss we take particular care over how we communicate so that nobody is left out of what is going on around them. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We keep examining our practice around choice and privacy, where any home can drift without noticing. If you are considering a place or a respite stay with us, please come and visit and meet the people who live here.

- Care Home
We at Bethany Care Service are proud to offer a warm and welcoming residential care home in the heart of Tadley, Hampshire, where older people receive compassionate, personalised care in a truly homely setting. Nestled within the RG postcode area of the South East, our home has become a trusted part of the local community. Our setting has been thoughtfully arranged to feel like a genuine home rather than an institution. Residents can enjoy comfortable communal spaces to socialise and relax, alongside private areas that offer quiet and calm whenever needed. The familiar surroundings of Tadley, combined with the peaceful atmosphere we cultivate indoors, help residents to feel settled, safe, and at ease from the moment they arrive. We specialise in a range of care needs, offering residential care for older people, dedicated dementia care, support for those living with a physical disability, and respite care for families who need short term support. In practice, this means we take the time to truly understand each resident as an individual. For someone living with dementia, that might mean gentle routines, familiar cues, and patient, reassuring interactions that reduce anxiety and preserve dignity. For a resident with a physical disability, it means adapting daily life around their preferences and abilities so independence is nurtured wherever possible. For families considering respite, it means peace of mind that a loved one is genuinely cared for whilst they take a well earned break or recover from their own health challenges. We are especially proud that the Care Quality Commission has awarded us an Outstanding overall rating at our most recent inspection. Within that rating, we were recognised as Outstanding in both the Caring and Well-led domains, and rated Good in Safe, Effective, and Responsive. For families, this independent recognition reflects what we strive for every single day: a home where kindness is at the centre of everything, where leadership is committed to continual improvement, and where standards of safety and effectiveness are consistently met. An Outstanding rating is achieved by only a small proportion of care providers nationally, and we consider it a meaningful reassurance for anyone entrusting a loved one to our care. Choosing a care home is one of the most important decisions a family will ever make, and we understand the weight of that choice. If you are exploring options in Tadley or the wider Hampshire area, we warmly invite you to get in touch, ask questions, and arrange a visit. We would be honoured to show you around, introduce you to our team, and help you decide whether Bethany Care Service feels like the right home for the person you love.

Here at Valley Lodge Care Home, we are based in Eastleigh, Hampshire, and we provide residential care, dementia care and respite care for older people in a warm and welcoming environment. We understand that choosing a care home for yourself or someone you love is one of the most significant decisions a family can make. Our team works hard every day to ensure that the people living with us feel genuinely at home, with their routines, preferences and wellbeing at the centre of everything we do. We take the time to get to know each person as an individual, because good care cannot be delivered in a one size fits all way. Our dementia care provision is something we put a great deal of thought into. We know that living with dementia brings its own unique challenges, and we aim to create an atmosphere that feels calm, familiar and reassuring for residents and their families alike. We also offer respite care for those who need a short term stay, whether that is to give a family carer some time to rest or to support recovery after a period of illness. We welcome respite residents with the same care and attention as those who live with us permanently. We want to be straightforward about where we are on our journey. Our most recent Care Quality Commission rating identified areas where we need to improve, and we have taken that feedback seriously. We are actively working through the steps needed to raise our standards, and we welcome that accountability. Families deserve honesty, and we would rather be open about our progress than paper over the cracks. If you would like to visit us or have a conversation about whether Valley Lodge could be the right fit for your family, please do get in touch. We are always happy to talk.

- Care Home
Dawson Lodge in Southampton is a residential care home supporting older people and younger adults, including many people living with dementia. Respite stays are part of what we do. Our everyday work is the ordinary business of a household run well. Help with washing, dressing and moving about at the person's own pace and as privately as possible. Medication managed properly. Meals cooked here with real choice. Rooms that people make their own with their own furniture and pictures. With dementia we lean on knowing somebody well, gathering their history with their family, and keeping the shape of the day predictable. We should be open about where we stand. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us requires improvement overall. We did not dispute what was found. Since then we have strengthened staffing and supervision, tightened how we manage medicines and the records we keep, and had senior staff check the care actually being given rather than the care described on paper. That work continues and we are not going to claim it is finished. We would far rather raise this ourselves and answer questions honestly than leave a family to find it out later. Anyone considering the home is welcome to visit, see how things are now, and talk to the people who live here.

Florence Court Care Home is a residential care home in Fareham, Hampshire. We support older adults and younger adults, including many people living with dementia, and we offer respite stays alongside permanent places. Living well with dementia at this stage usually depends on the ordinary things being got right. A calm environment, a rhythm to the day that does not shift about, staff who know somebody's history well enough to make sense of what they are saying, and time that is not rushed. We put our effort there. We also spend time with families early on, because what they can tell us about a person's working life, their family, their music and their habits is what allows us to care for them as themselves. Respite is available for short stays, whether to give a family carer a proper break, to help somebody get back on their feet after hospital, or to see how the home suits before making any longer commitment. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We would rather set that out ourselves than have you come across it later, and we are ready to talk in detail about what the inspection found and how we have responded. Please do come and see the home, and ask us the awkward questions while you are here.

We are Bryony Lodge, a residential care home on Hayling Island. We support older people and younger adults, including people with a learning disability or who are autistic and people with a physical disability, and we offer respite stays for short planned periods. Living here should feel like living somewhere, not staying somewhere. People choose how their room looks, what they do with their day and how much support they want with any given task. Our staff help with personal care, mobility, medication and meals, and we work with each person on the things they want to keep doing for themselves. Where somebody needs adapted equipment, a particular routine or a quiet space when the day becomes too much, that is written into their support plan and it is followed. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement, and we are not going to gloss over it. We know what was identified, we are working through the changes with our team and with the professionals who place people with us, and we would rather discuss that openly with any family considering the home than have it come as a surprise later. The island setting gives people fresh air, a walk by the water and a community that is easy to be part of, and we support people to make use of it. If you are considering a place here, please come and visit, meet the staff and ask us direct questions.

We are a residential care home in Andover, Hampshire, looking after older people and younger adults who need care and support they can no longer manage at home. Among those living here are people with dementia, people with a mental health condition and people with physical disabilities. Our aim is simple to state and takes real effort to do. We want the people who live here to feel that this is their home and their day, not ours. That means asking rather than assuming, giving people time to do what they can for themselves, and paying attention to preferences a busy home might otherwise sweep past, such as when somebody likes to wake, what they will actually eat, and whether they want company or would rather be left in peace. Staff are on hand throughout the day and night, and we work alongside GPs, district nurses and other professionals to keep on top of health needs. Respite stays are available as well as permanent places. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated the home Requires Improvement. We would rather be upfront about that than have you find it elsewhere, and we are happy to discuss the report and what it means for us with any family considering a place here. Anyone thinking about residential care in Andover is welcome to visit, ask difficult questions and see the home for themselves.

Here at Tudor Rose, we are proud to be a care home based in the heart of Alton, Hampshire, providing a warm and welcoming home for the people who live with us. We specialise in residential care for younger adults, including those living with a learning disability or autism. We understand that every person who comes to us has their own story, their own preferences and their own way of experiencing the world. Our approach starts from that understanding. We take the time to get to know each individual properly, building care around who they are rather than fitting them into a routine that suits us. For younger adults especially, we know how important it is to feel genuinely at home somewhere, to have a life that feels meaningful and full rather than simply managed. We work hard to make sure the people living here have real choice in their daily lives, whether that is in how they spend their time, what they eat, who they spend time with, or how they are supported with personal care. Our team brings a grounded, thoughtful approach to supporting people with a learning disability or autism. We are mindful that communication, sensory needs and individual routines matter enormously, and we put genuine effort into understanding and respecting these things every single day. Segensworth Road is a residential care home in Fareham, Hampshire. We support adults with learning disabilities and autism, adults with physical disabilities, and people living with sight or hearing loss, including younger adults. This is somebody's home, and we run it that way. The people here choose how their rooms look, what is on the shopping list, what happens at the weekend and who they spend time with. Our staff make those choices workable, with support that might include personal care, help with money and appointments, practical assistance to get out, or backing somebody to try something they have not done before. Autism support is worked out person by person. We pay attention to sensory needs, to how much warning someone wants before a change, and to the ways people signal discomfort without using words. What we learn is written down so that support stays consistent whoever is on shift. Communication matters here more than in most places. Where somebody uses signs, symbols, a communication aid or their own particular habits of expression, our staff learn it, and we never make a decision about a person without a genuine effort to include them in it. Respite stays are available as well, giving families a planned break and giving the person staying some different company. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Visitors are welcome and we are glad to show people round.

Shedfield Lodge is a residential care home near Southampton, in Hampshire. We look after older people and younger adults, people living with dementia and adults managing mental ill health, and we take respite bookings for people who need a stay of a few weeks. We keep things homely and unhurried. People get up when they want to, eat what they actually like, keep their own belongings around them and spend their days as suits them, whether that is joining in with what is going on or sitting somewhere quiet with the paper. Our staff know the people here, which means they can tell the difference between somebody having a quiet day and somebody becoming unwell. Supporting people living with dementia and people with mental health needs under one roof takes care and consistency. We give staff proper training, keep routines steady, and pay attention to what unsettles individuals rather than applying one approach to everybody. Where somebody's needs change, we involve their GP and the local community teams early rather than waiting for a crisis. Relatives are welcome whenever suits them and are part of how decisions get made. We would much rather be told plainly when something has slipped than discover it at a formal review. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. Please ring if you would like to look round.

Following our most recent Care Quality Commission inspection in July 2025, we are proud to have been rated Good overall, with Good ratings across every domain including Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, and Well led. For families, this consistent recognition offers meaningful reassurance that the care delivered at Little Orchard meets the high standards expected of a trusted residential setting, and that our team continues to work with commitment and heart every single day. Choosing a care home is one of the most significant decisions a family can make, and we understand the weight of that choice. If you are exploring options for a loved one in Lymington or the wider Hampshire area, we would be delighted to welcome you for a conversation, answer your questions, and show you the warmth and care that make Little Orchard feel like home. We are Stoke Knoll Rest Home, a residential care home in Eastleigh, Hampshire. We support older people who need help with daily living, including those living with dementia and those living with mental ill health. This is a home rather than an institution, and we work hard to keep the atmosphere of a house where people live rather than a place where care is delivered. People bring their own furniture, pictures and belongings, and the day is built around what individuals actually want. Some prefer the sitting room and company, others their own room and quiet, and there is no expectation that anyone joins in with anything simply because it is on the calendar. For people living with dementia, we pay close attention to routine, to familiar objects and to the things that reduce anxiety, and we take the time to learn a person's history so we can meet them where they are. We provide respite care as well as permanent places. A planned short stay gives a family carer a genuine break, and it sometimes helps someone recovering from illness regain confidence before returning home. We prepare for those stays properly rather than treating them as filling a spare room. Our most recent Care Quality Commission inspection rated us good overall. Relatives and friends are welcome, and we encourage them to stay involved in whatever way suits the person. If you are considering care in the Eastleigh area, please come and visit us.

Here at Oakley Lodge, we are proud to offer a warm and welcoming home for the people who live with us in the heart of Basingstoke, Hampshire. We support a diverse range of individuals, including older adults, younger adults, people living with a learning disability or autism, and those who need short term respite care. Whatever brings someone to us, our aim is always the same: to make sure each person feels genuinely at home, respected, and valued as an individual. We take the time to get to know the people we support, understanding their routines, preferences, and the things that matter most to them day to day. Residential care looks different for everyone, and we do not believe in a one size fits all approach. Whether someone is joining us for a longer term stay or a planned period of respite, we work closely with them and their families to make the transition as smooth and reassuring as possible. Families and loved ones are very much part of life here at Oakley Lodge. We encourage open communication and welcome visits, because we know how important those connections are to the wellbeing of the people we support. We are always happy to have a conversation, answer questions, or simply offer a cup of tea and a chat. We are pleased that our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission resulted in an overall rating of Good, which reflects the hard work and genuine commitment of our whole team. We do not take that for granted and we continue to look at how we can improve and grow. If you are considering Oakley Lodge for yourself or someone you care about, please do get in touch. We would love to welcome you for a visit and show you what life here is really like.

The Fernes is a residential care home in Fareham, supporting older people and younger adults from across Hampshire, including people living with dementia and people with a physical disability. A care home is judged by its ordinary days rather than its brochure, so that is where we put our attention. Meals cooked in our own kitchen and eaten at a table. Personal care offered calmly and in private. Medication managed properly. Rooms that look like they belong to the person living in them. Staff awake overnight. Enough happening in the house to give the day a shape, and no one pressed into joining anything they have no interest in. People keep their own routines wherever we can arrange it. If somebody has bathed at night for half a century, we do not move them to a morning shower because it fits a rota better. For residents with a physical disability, the practical business of getting about matters enormously. Accessible bathrooms, the right equipment, and staff who know how a particular person wants to be helped to move. Mobility lost because assistance was inconvenient is a loss we work hard to prevent. With dementia we aim for familiarity and calm rather than correction, and we ask relatives early for the history that helps us reach somebody when they are distressed. The Care Quality Commission has not yet given us an overall rating. Come and see the home, unannounced if you prefer, and talk to the people who live here.

At Holly Lodge, we provide residential care for adults in the heart of Lymington, Hampshire. We are a care home that works with a wide range of people, including those living with learning disabilities, autism, mental health conditions, and younger adults who need a supportive place to call home. We also offer respite care, giving families and carers a chance to rest while knowing their loved one is in safe, capable hands. We are proud to hold a Good rating from the Care Quality Commission, which reflects the genuine effort our team puts into making sure every person in our care is treated with dignity and respect. That rating matters to us, but what matters more is how our residents feel day to day. We want Holly Lodge to feel like a real home, not an institution, and we work hard to make sure the atmosphere here reflects that. Our approach starts with getting to know each person properly. Everyone who comes to us has their own history, preferences, and ways of communicating, and we take the time to understand what makes each individual tick. Whether someone needs a lot of support or just a gentle helping hand, we tailor the care around them rather than expecting them to fit around us. Lymington is a wonderful town and we make the most of being part of the local community. We encourage residents to stay connected to the things they enjoy, whether that means getting out and about or simply having a comfortable, familiar routine at home. If you are considering Holly Lodge for yourself or someone you care about, we would warmly welcome you to come and have a look around and meet the team. We believe the best way to understand what we offer is simply to come and see it for yourself.

Our home at 78 Stubbington Lane in Hampshire provides residential care for adults with a learning disability and for autistic adults, including younger adults. We also offer respite stays. This is a house and we want it to feel like one. The people who live here have their own rooms, their own belongings and their own way of running a day, and support is arranged around that rather than around a timetable that suits staff. Some people have lived here together for years. Others arrive needing space and patience before they settle, and we do not rush that or treat it as a problem. Support is planned around what each person wants to be able to do rather than simply around risk. Cooking, shopping, managing money, using transport, getting to activities, college or work, and keeping up with family and friends. Where somebody needs a lot of help, we still look for what they can take on themselves, because independence slips away quietly unless someone is protecting it. Communication is something we take seriously. We learn how each person tells us what they want, including those who use little or no speech, and we adapt to them. Noise, lighting, routine and having a quiet place to go all affect how a day turns out. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please get in touch if you would like to visit.

At Bethel House, we offer residential care for older people and younger adults in the heart of New Milton, Hampshire. We are a care home where people genuinely feel at home, not just cared for, and that distinction matters enormously to us. Our team supports residents living with dementia, those who need longer term residential care, and people who come to us for a shorter respite stay. Whether someone is joining us for a few weeks to recover or recuperate, or making Bethel House their permanent home, we work hard to make sure they feel settled, respected and comfortable from the very beginning. Dementia care is an area we take particularly seriously. We understand how unsettling and confusing daily life can become for someone living with dementia, and we focus on creating calm, familiar routines and an environment where people feel safe and understood. We also make sure families feel kept in the loop and genuinely supported throughout their loved one's time with us. We are proud to hold a Good rating from the Care Quality Commission, which reflects the standard of care we work to maintain every day. It is not something we take for granted, and we are always looking at how we can do better. What makes Bethel House feel like a proper community is the relationships that develop here. Staff get to know residents as individuals, their histories, their preferences, what makes them laugh, what matters to them. That knowledge shapes how we care for each person. If you are thinking about care for yourself or someone close to you, whether now or in the near future, we would always encourage you to come and visit us. New Milton is a lovely part of Hampshire and we think Bethel House reflects that warmth.

Here at Redclyffe House, we provide residential care for a wide range of people in the heart of Gosport, Hampshire. Our home supports older adults, younger adults, people living with dementia, and individuals with learning disabilities or autism, as well as offering respite care for those who need a short term stay. We know that choosing a care home is one of the most significant decisions a family can make, and we do not take that responsibility lightly. From the moment someone walks through our door, whether as a prospective resident, a family member, or a visitor, we want them to feel that this is a place where people are genuinely looked after and listened to. Life at Redclyffe House is built around the people who live here. We work to understand each resident as an individual, learning what matters to them, what they enjoy, and how they like their day to look. That understanding shapes the care and support we provide, rather than fitting people around a fixed routine. We are honest about where we are as a home. Our most recent CQC rating reflects areas where we have been working hard to improve, and we have taken that feedback seriously. We are committed to making the changes needed and to being transparent with residents and their families about our progress along the way. Our team understands the importance of consistency and trust, particularly for those living with dementia or complex needs. We aim to create an environment that feels calm, familiar, and safe, while still being a place where people can socialise, stay active, and maintain their independence wherever possible. The Lodge Retirement Home is a residential care home in Havant, Hampshire. We are home to older people who need support with everyday life, and we offer respite stays for people who need care for a shorter period, whether that is while a family carer takes a break or because someone wants to try life here before making a longer decision. We keep what we do deliberately focused. Residential care for older people is our work, and we would rather do that attentively than spread ourselves across every kind of need. Residents tell us when they like to wake, what they want to eat, how much help they want with washing and dressing and how they prefer to spend the day, and the day is built from those answers rather than from a timetable that suits the rota. Independence is protected wherever it exists. If someone can manage part of a task themselves, we leave them to it and stay nearby rather than taking over for the sake of speed. Company matters as much as practical help, and we pay attention to residents who would otherwise spend the day alone in their room. Families are welcome whenever they want to visit and we would far rather hear a concern early. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good, and we hold ourselves to it in the ordinary details of life here.

Avon Park Residential Home provides residential care in Southampton for older people and for younger adults who need support with everyday living. We are a home first and a care setting second, and we work quite hard to keep it that way. The help we offer covers washing and dressing, medication, meals, mobility and the practical business of getting through a day when that has become difficult to manage alone. Beyond that, what people want from us varies enormously, so we ask rather than assume. Some people want a full day of company and activity. Others want to be left in peace with the radio on and a cup of tea brought through now and then. Both are perfectly reasonable requests and we treat them as such. Southampton is where most of the people living here have spent their lives, and keeping those threads going matters. Family and friends are welcome whenever they want to come, and we are happy for people to be taken out for the afternoon or for lunch. We offer respite stays as well as permanent places, which can cover a family holiday or a period of recovery after illness. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We support a wide range of individuals, including older adults, younger adults, people with learning disabilities or autism, and those living with visual or hearing impairments. We also offer respite care for those who need short term support, giving families and carers the reassurance that their loved one is in good hands while they take time to rest and recharge. Our most recent Care Quality Commission inspection rated us as Good, which reflects the effort our whole team puts in day to day to make sure the people living here receive thoughtful, consistent and respectful support. We do not take that rating for granted and we are always looking at ways to do things better. What makes Karibu Place feel different, we think, is the relationships we build. We take time to get to know each person properly, understanding not just their care needs but their preferences, their history and what makes them feel like themselves. Whether that means supporting someone to maintain their independence, connecting them with activities they enjoy, or simply being a familiar and friendly face, we try to make sure every individual feels genuinely seen and heard. Families are a hugely important part of what we do, and we welcome their involvement in the lives of those we support. Ellerslie House in Fareham is a residential home supporting adults with learning disabilities, autistic adults, people with mental health needs and people with sight or hearing loss, most of them younger adults. We also offer respite stays. Because people tend to live here for years, we run the house as their household rather than as a setting they have been placed in. The people who live here decide how their rooms look, have a real say in what is bought and cooked, and shape the week around what they want to do rather than around our convenience. Support with personal care, medication, health appointments and getting about is given exactly as each person has agreed and recorded in enough detail that a colleague new to a shift gets it right without being told. For anybody who finds change unsettling, that consistency is the foundation of everything else. Communication takes real effort and deserves it. Some people here use speech, others use signs, symbols, objects or behaviour we have to learn to read, and where there is sensory loss as well we think carefully about how information reaches somebody and how we make ourselves understood. We check what we think we have understood rather than assuming it. We want people to have a life beyond the front door, with work, college, clubs, friends and family. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall.

We are a residential home in Southampton supporting adults with learning disabilities and autistic people, including younger adults. The house is run as a household rather than a service. People living here have their own rooms and their own belongings, and they take part in deciding how the place works: what is cooked, when meals happen, what gets bought and where everyone goes at the weekend. For adults who have often had decisions made on their behalf, that ordinary degree of control is much of the point. Support is built around each person and what they want to be able to do, whether that is work, college, volunteering, getting out regularly, keeping up with family, managing money with a hand from staff or learning to do more around the house. Predictability counts for a great deal here, so we keep staffing as consistent as we can and try not to change arrangements without warning and proper explanation. Respite stays are available alongside longer places. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission was requires improvement. We would rather tell you that ourselves than leave you to find it later. We are working through the points the inspectors raised, and if you are considering the house for yourself or someone in your family we will go through the report with you and answer anything you want to ask. Please come and visit. Meeting the people who live here will tell you more than we can.

Hart Plain Care is a residential care home in Waterlooville, Hampshire, supporting adults with a learning disability and autistic adults, including both younger adults and older people. We also offer respite stays. The house is small on purpose. People here have their own space and their own routines and a genuine say in how the place is run, from the weekly shop through to what happens at the weekend. The people we support want different things from their week. Some are out most days, at work, at college or with friends, and need us to make that practical and to be there when they come home. Others prefer a steadier, more predictable rhythm and need staff who understand what helps them stay regulated. We take real time to learn those patterns, including how a person lets us know they are struggling when they cannot put it into words. Support plans are written with the person, in language they can use, and revisited when things genuinely change rather than on a schedule. Families and social workers stay involved throughout, and we raise concerns early rather than saving them for a review. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.

Merlin Park is a residential care home in Gosport, Hampshire. We are home to older people and to younger adults, we support residents living with dementia, people managing mental health conditions, and people with a visual or hearing impairment, and we offer respite stays for those who need care for a short while. We think a care home should feel like somewhere you live rather than somewhere you have been placed. People bring their own things, keep their own routines, and decide how their day goes as far as they possibly can. Some residents want to be in the thick of everything that is going on. Others prefer their own company most of the time, and that is an equally reasonable way to spend a day. Supporting people well across such a range of needs relies on staff knowing individuals properly. For someone living with dementia that might mean recognising the early signs of a difficult afternoon and heading it off gently. For someone with sensory loss it might mean simple, consistent habits, such as saying who we are on the way into a room and keeping belongings exactly where they were left. Families are part of this. We keep in touch, we say when something has changed, and visitors are welcome without ceremony. The Care Quality Commission most recently rated us good overall. We treat that as the standard to hold rather than an achievement to display, and we are always glad to show people around.

Bramshott Grange near Liphook in Hampshire provides residential and nursing care under one roof. That matters more than it might sound, because it means somebody can settle here while they need help with everyday things and stay when their health needs grow, rather than facing another move at the worst possible time. We care for older people, including many living with dementia, and we support people with physical disabilities and people living with sight or hearing loss, along with some younger adults. Respite stays are available too. Our residential care covers help with washing and dressing, moving about safely, medication and meals, with somebody nearby through the night. Our nursing care adds qualified clinical oversight, so we pay close attention to medication, skin integrity, nutrition and hydration, pain and safe moving and handling, and we notice early when a condition is changing. We work closely with the GP practice and community health teams who support us. Where dementia is part of the picture it shapes the whole home, from how we speak to people through to how calm the afternoons are and how we respond when somebody is distressed. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please arrange to visit, see the place properly and talk to whoever is on duty.

Here at Freegrove Care Home, we are proud to be part of the Lymington community in the heart of Hampshire. We provide residential care for older people, including specialist support for those living with dementia, as well as respite care for those who need a short term stay while they or their families take a breath and regroup. We know that choosing a care home is one of the most significant decisions a family can make, and we do not take that lightly. From the very first conversation, we try to make the process as straightforward and reassuring as possible. We want people to feel genuinely at home here, not just settled in, but comfortable, known, and valued as individuals. Our team takes the time to understand each resident's history, preferences and routines. For those living with dementia, that familiarity matters enormously. We work to create an environment that feels calm and consistent, where people can move through their days with as much independence and dignity as possible. Lymington is a wonderful place to be based. The town has a real sense of community, and we enjoy being a part of it. Whether that means residents connecting with what is happening locally or simply benefiting from the peaceful, coastal surroundings, the location genuinely adds something to life here. We were pleased to receive a "good" rating from the Care Quality Commission at our most recent inspection. It reflects what we hear from residents and their families, that this is a place where people are listened to and looked after properly. If you are considering care for yourself or someone you love, we would warmly encourage you to come and visit us. A conversation over a cup of tea is always the best place to start.

St Elmo Care Home is a residential home in Ringwood, supporting older people who need help with daily living rather than nursing care. We offer both permanent places and respite stays. Our aim is that this feels like somewhere people live rather than somewhere people are placed. Residents keep their own routines, their own belongings and their own preferences, and are supported to carry on doing what they can for themselves. We also support residents living with dementia, where familiarity, patience and a steady daily rhythm do far more good than anything else we could offer. We want to be straightforward about where we currently stand. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is Requires Improvement, and we would rather say so here than have a family discover it elsewhere. We understand what was identified, we are working through it, and we are willing to talk about it in detail with anyone who asks. A rating is a snapshot of practice at a point in time, and the only useful response to a poor one is to put the work in. In the meantime the people living here are our first concern, and their families deserve honesty from us about both the problems and the progress. If you are considering a place for a relative, come and visit, ask hard questions and form your own view.

We support older people and younger adults, including adults with learning disabilities, autistic adults, people with a physical disability and people with visual or hearing impairment. Living here should feel like living somewhere, not staying somewhere. People bring their own belongings and furniture, keep their own routines and decide how they want their day to go. We provide the help that makes that possible, whether that is personal care, support with mobility and equipment, help with medication or simply time and company. Because the people we support have quite different needs, we spend a good deal of effort on getting the detail right for each person. For autistic residents that often means a predictable rhythm, clear warning of anything changing and attention to the sensory side of the environment. For someone with a physical disability it may mean the right equipment properly set up and staff who know how to use it confidently. For someone with a sensory impairment it means consistent communication that works for them. Respite stays are part of what we do as well, and we take them seriously rather than treating them as filling a spare room. A respite guest gets the same planning and the same attention as anyone else. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please come and visit if you are considering Blue Cedars.

- Care Home
At Hartwood House, we are proud to call Lyndhurst home. Nestled in the heart of the New Forest in Hampshire, our care home offers a warm and familiar setting where residents can feel genuinely at ease, surrounded by a team that truly knows them as individuals. We support a range of needs here, including residential care for older people, specialist dementia care, and care for younger adults. Whatever brings someone to us, our approach stays the same: we take the time to understand who each person is, what matters to them, and how we can help them live as comfortably and independently as possible. Dementia care sits close to the heart of what we do. We know how unsettling it can be for families when a loved one is living with dementia, and we work hard to create an environment that feels safe, calm and familiar. Routines, relationships and moments of joy all play a part in daily life here, and we focus as much on wellbeing as we do on practical care needs. For younger adults who need residential support, we recognise that a care home environment needs to feel relevant and respectful of where they are in life. We do our best to ensure that every resident, regardless of age, feels that Hartwood House is their home rather than simply a place they live. Our most recent Care Quality Commission inspection rated us as Good, which reflects the effort and commitment our whole team brings to the work every day. We do not take that rating for granted and we continue to listen, learn and improve. If you are considering care for yourself or someone you love, we would warmly welcome the chance to show you around and have a conversation. Please do get in touch.

- Care Home
Woodley Grange is a residential care home in Romsey, Hampshire. We provide care for older people, including people living with dementia, people with physical disabilities and people with visual or hearing impairment, and we offer respite stays alongside permanent places. We are a residential home rather than a clinical setting, and the day here belongs to the people living in it. Some like an early start and a bit of company; others prefer a slow morning and a quiet afternoon. Our part is to make either possible, and to help with washing, dressing, medication, meals and getting about in a way that supports independence rather than replacing it. Dementia care is central to our work. We take time to learn each person's history, habits and the things that reassure them, because that knowledge is what lets staff respond to the feeling behind a difficult moment rather than simply react to the behaviour. Where a resident has a physical disability we make sure equipment is properly set up and that staff use it confidently, and where there is a sight or hearing impairment we adapt how we communicate and keep things where the person expects to find them. Respite stays get the same planning as any other admission. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good, which we treat as a foundation rather than a finishing line. You are very welcome to visit Woodley Grange and see the home on an ordinary day.

Ridgemede Care is a residential care home in Southampton. We support older people who need help with daily living, including those living with dementia and those with physical disabilities. Respite stays are available as well. Moving into a care home is a considerable change, and our first task is to make this feel like somewhere a person lives rather than somewhere they have been placed. Rooms are people's own, with their own furniture and photographs. Visitors come when it suits them. Residents decide when to get up, where to sit, what they want to eat and whether they want company or quiet. We help with personal care, dressing, medication and mobility, and we do as much or as little as somebody needs. Where a resident can still manage their own washing or fold their own clothes, we leave them to it. Dementia care is a large part of our work, and we treat it as caring for a person rather than managing a condition. We keep routines steady and surroundings familiar, give people time instead of hurrying them, and ask families about earlier life, because knowing what somebody did and what they loved tells us a great deal once words become unreliable. For residents with physical disabilities the emphasis is on equipment that fits and transfers handled safely and without embarrassment. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Come and visit on an ordinary day and ask us anything.

Clifford House Residential Care Home is in Andover, Hampshire, providing residential care for older people, including people living with dementia. We also welcome guests for respite stays. We run the home the way a household runs. People get up when they wake, sit where they choose, eat what they enjoy and keep the habits of a lifetime. Help with washing, dressing, medication and getting about is given when it is needed, quietly and without anybody feeling they have been taken over. Good dementia care depends far less on any particular technique than on knowledge and time. Our team learns each resident's history, their family, their working life and their worries, and uses that every day. A person who is anxious or agitated is telling us something, and it is our job to work out what. Families are part of the home here. We encourage relatives to visit when it suits them, and we keep in contact about health and mood rather than only ringing when something has gone wrong. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you are looking at residential care in Andover, please arrange to come in, meet the team and see the place on an ordinary afternoon. That will tell you more than any brochure.

Grey Gables in New Milton is a residential care home in Hampshire. We provide a home for older people who need support with daily living, and for younger adults who need a supportive household. Respite stays are available as well. The first fortnight after a move matters enormously, and we give it real thought. Before somebody arrives we want to know what time they wake, how they take their tea, what they cannot abide and who they want to be able to ring. Those details are what begin turning a strange room into their room. We help with personal care, dressing, medication and mobility, and we do only as much as somebody needs. Where a resident can still manage something themselves, they keep it, and we are in no hurry to take things over. Dementia care is a large part of our work, and we treat it as caring for a person rather than managing a condition. We keep the day's rhythm steady and the surroundings familiar, give people time instead of finishing their sentences for them, and ask families about earlier life, because that knowledge is what makes sense of a mood or a repeated question. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Come and see us on an ordinary afternoon. Here at Lindhurst in Bordon, Hampshire, we provide residential care for a wide range of individuals, and we take real pride in making this a place people are genuinely glad to call home. We support older adults, people living with dementia, those with learning disabilities or autism, individuals with physical disabilities, and people with visual or hearing impairments. We also welcome younger adults and offer respite care for those who need a short term stay, whether to recover, to give family members a rest, or simply to try things out before making a longer term decision. Our most recent Care Quality Commission inspection rated us as Good, and that means a great deal to us. It reflects the everyday work of our team, the relationships they build with residents, and the attention they give to making sure each person is supported in a way that suits them as an individual. Care is not one size fits all, and we do not treat it that way. Life at Lindhurst is shaped around the people who live here. We are Whitemoor House in Lyndhurst, Hampshire, a residential home supporting adults with a learning disability and autistic adults. Most of the people we support are younger adults, and we also offer respite stays. We are in the New Forest, and that is not incidental. Being able to get outside, walk, see the animals and use the local shops and cafes is part of everyday life here rather than something arranged occasionally, and it matters a great deal to people who have not always had easy access to any of it. Inside, this is a home rather than a placement. People choose how their rooms look, what they eat and how they spend their time, and they are supported to keep up with family and friends and with work, college or volunteering. Where somebody wants to take on more for themselves, we work through the steps with them rather than deciding what is realistic on their behalf. Everything rests on knowing people well. We take time to learn how each person communicates, what they find stressful and what helps them settle again, and we make sure anyone new understands it before supporting somebody alone. Consistency of staffing is one of the most useful things we can offer. If you are looking for residential support in this part of Hampshire, please arrange to visit. Meet the people who live here, ask what an ordinary week looks like, and see whether it feels right.

Brendon Lodge is a residential care home in Havant. We support older people needing help with daily living, adults who have a learning disability, autistic adults and people with a physical disability. We also support some younger adults. Support is agreed with each person rather than handed out. For some it is help with personal care, medication and daily routines. For others it is practical assistance with cooking, laundry, money and appointments. For others again it is mainly having reliable people nearby while they get on with their own interests, work or social life. Where somebody has a physical disability we take the time that moving and transfers properly require, using the right equipment and explaining as we go, because comfort and dignity depend on those details. For the autistic people we support, notice of change and attention to noise and busyness in shared areas make the greatest difference. Respite stays are available as well as permanent places. - Care Home
Sycamore Cottage Rest Home is a residential care home in Basingstoke supporting older people and younger adults, including residents living with dementia and people managing mental ill health. We offer permanent places and planned respite stays. We are a small home and that shapes everything about how we work. Staff know every resident properly rather than by a note in a file, which means changes get noticed early and preferences are remembered without anyone having to ask twice. There is time here for a conversation and time to sit with someone who is having a hard afternoon. For residents living with dementia, we work from life history. Someone's working life, their family and what has always comforted them tell us far more about how to support them than any general approach, and when a resident is distressed we look for the specific reason rather than reaching for a routine answer. For those managing mental ill health, structure and continuity do a great deal of the work: reliable meals, help with medication and staff who can tell an ordinary bad day from a genuine deterioration. Respite stays give family carers a real break and give guests a proper welcome into the life of the house. The Care Quality Commission rated us good at our most recent inspection. Marika House is a residential care home in Romsey, Hampshire, supporting adults with a learning disability and autistic adults, people with sight or hearing loss and younger adults. We also offer respite stays. This is a house where people live their own lives rather than a setting where things are done to them. People choose how their rooms look, take part in shopping, cooking and keeping the place going as much as they want to and are able to, and get out to what they enjoy in and around Romsey. Where somebody wants a job, a course or a regular club, that belongs in the support plan. The work turns on detail and consistency. How much noise a room holds. Whether a change of staff or plan has been flagged days in advance. Which way of communicating genuinely reaches a person. For those with sight or hearing loss it also means keeping the layout predictable and introducing ourselves properly every time. We should be open about our regulator. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission found that we require improvement. We have an action plan covering the points raised and are working through it with the whole staff team, and we are happy to talk any family or referrer through what was found, what has changed and what remains in hand. Visitors are welcome to come and see the house for themselves.

Jacob's Lodge is a residential care home in Totton supporting younger adults, including people who have a learning disability and people who are autistic. It is somebody's home before it is anything else, and we work to keep that order of priority clear. People have their own rooms arranged as they want them, they have a say in meals and in how the house runs, and support sits underneath ordinary life rather than replacing it. What we provide varies from person to person. Some need help with personal care, medication and daily routines. Some want practical support with cooking, budgeting, shopping and appointments. Some mainly want dependable people nearby while they get on with college, work, volunteering or seeing friends. We do what is wanted and leave the rest alone, because taking over is easy and unhelpful. For the autistic people we support, predictability carries a great deal of weight. We give notice before things change, we keep noise and busyness in shared areas manageable and we learn how each person prefers to be given information. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please contact us.

We at Saltmarsh House Residential Care Home are proud to offer a warm and welcoming home for older people on Hayling Island, providing high quality residential care, dementia support and respite stays in a peaceful corner of Hampshire. Nestled within the tranquil coastal community of Hayling Island, our home benefits from the gentle pace and fresh sea air that this part of the South East is so well loved for. The setting offers residents a calm and homely atmosphere, ideal for those who appreciate a quieter environment whilst still being part of a close knit local community within the PO postcode area. Our specialisms centre on older person and residential care, with dedicated support for individuals living with dementia and those requiring short term respite stays. For residents, this means daily life is shaped around familiar routines, gentle companionship and person centred attention that respects who they are and what matters most to them. For families, it means the reassurance of knowing that a loved one is being cared for by a team who understand the complexities of ageing and memory loss, and who take time to listen, adapt and support. Respite care at our home also offers a valuable option for families who may be caring for a relative themselves and need a trusted place for their loved one to stay, whether for a planned break or during a period of recovery. Whatever the reason for the stay, we aim to make every resident feel genuinely at home from the moment they arrive. We are pleased to hold an overall Good rating from the Care Quality Commission following our most recent inspection. Our home was rated Good for being safe, caring, responsive and well led, reflecting the compassionate and thoughtful approach our team brings to daily life. Arranging and funding a care home place in Hampshire
Money and eligibility shape almost everything that follows, including which of the 325 care homes listed on this page are realistically within reach. Two separate pieces of assessment work sit behind most placements, and both are worth starting early, because homes with a strong local reputation can hold waiting lists.
Asking for a care needs assessment
Anyone who appears to need care and support can ask their local authority for an assessment, whatever their savings. A social care practitioner looks at daily living, mobility, medication, memory, and the risks a person faces at home, then records the level of support needed. Where residential care is the right answer, the assessment produces a care and support plan that any home can work from. Relatives acting for someone who cannot easily speak for themselves can ask to take part, and an advocate can be arranged where there is nobody else to fill that role.
Where Hampshire County Council fits in
Funded support follows a financial assessment carried out by Hampshire County Council once care needs have been agreed. Capital and income are both taken into account, and the outcome decides whether the council contributes towards fees, whether the person pays in full, or whether a deferred payment arrangement secured against a property would help. Even where someone is clearly funding their own care, the council still owes a duty to provide information and advice, so the process is rarely wasted effort.
Understanding what the fees cover
Weekly fees differ from one Hampshire home to the next and depend on the room, the level of personal care agreed, and whether any nursing input is involved. Ask each home for a written schedule showing what the fee includes and what is billed separately, since hairdressing, chiropody, and outings are often charged on top. Where a family prefers a home costing more than the council will pay, a third party contribution may be required, and that commitment has to stay affordable for the long term.

Reading inspection outcomes properly
Ratings across this collection run from Outstanding through Good and Requires Improvement, alongside homes registered too recently to carry a judgement yet. Jasmine House, Sansa House, and The Conifers are among those holding Outstanding, while a Good rating still means the home met the standards the Care Quality Commission expects. Check the date of the inspection and read the findings on safety and leadership rather than the headline alone, because a judgement made some years ago describes the home as it was then, not necessarily as it is now.
What a visit should tell you
Arrange to visit at a busy point in the day, ideally around a mealtime, and notice whether residents look occupied and whether staff greet them by name. Ask how many carers are on duty overnight, how the home responds to a fall or a sudden illness, and how quickly families hear about it. Questions about staff turnover deserve a direct answer, because continuity of carers shapes daily life far more than furnishings do.
Matching the home to the person
Some homes in Hampshire are large purpose built settings for older people, while others are ordinary houses supporting a handful of adults with learning disabilities or autism. Think about the routine that would suit the person moving in, the distance relatives can travel comfortably and often, and whether the home could go on meeting needs as they change.
Frequently asked questions about care homes in Hampshire
How do we arrange a care needs assessment in Hampshire?
Contact adult social care at Hampshire County Council and ask for a care needs assessment for the person concerned. The assessment can take place at home or on a hospital ward, and there is no charge for it whatever the household savings. A practitioner will look at daily tasks, mobility, health conditions, and the support already in place, then set out what is needed. If residential care is recommended, the resulting plan gives every home you approach a clear description of the support required.
Can Hampshire County Council pay for a care home placement?
It can, where the care needs assessment shows residential care is required and the financial assessment shows the person cannot meet the full cost themselves. Capital and income are both considered, and any contribution is worked out individually rather than by a fixed rule. Where the council agrees to fund a place, it normally pays up to a level it considers sufficient to meet assessed needs, and a top up may be needed for a more expensive home. Deferred payment agreements are also possible in some circumstances where a property is involved.
Which providers offer residential care in Hampshire?
This page gathers three hundred and sixteen registered care homes across Hampshire, all of them residential settings inspected by the Care Quality Commission. They run from large homes for older people to small houses supporting adults with learning disabilities or autism. Each entry links to a profile showing the provider details and the current rating. Narrowing by location first, then by rating, is usually the quickest way to build a shortlist worth visiting.
What is the difference between a residential care home and a nursing home?
A residential care home provides personal care, meaning help with washing, dressing, medication, meals, and the shape of the day. A nursing home offers that same support with qualified nurses on site, which matters where there are complex medical needs such as wounds, feeding tubes, or unstable conditions. The homes collected on this page are registered for residential care. If a setting with nursing cover is needed, the care needs assessment should say so, and it saves time to establish that before booking visits.
How far ahead should we start looking at care homes in Hampshire?
Beginning a few months ahead is ideal, since it leaves room for an assessment, unhurried visits, and a considered choice. In practice families often start after a hospital admission or a sudden decline, when the timescale is days rather than weeks. Even then it is reasonable to ask about a short term placement while you look properly, rather than accepting the first vacancy offered. Registering interest early with homes you like costs nothing and puts you on the waiting list.
What should we ask when visiting a care home in Hampshire?
Ask how staffing levels change overnight and at weekends, and how long the current team has worked there. Ask what happens when a resident becomes unwell, which GP practice covers the home, and how quickly relatives are contacted. Ask to see the activities that actually ran over the past fortnight rather than a sample timetable, and how residents influence what is on offer. Finally, ask what the fee includes and what is charged separately, and ask for that answer in writing.
