About Winfrith House

We are a residential home in Southampton supporting adults with learning disabilities and autistic people, including younger adults. The house is run as a household rather than a service. People living here have their own rooms and their own belongings, and they take part in deciding how the place works: what is cooked, when meals happen, what gets bought and where everyone goes at the weekend. For adults who have often had decisions made on their behalf, that ordinary degree of control is much of the point. Support is built around each person and what they want to be able to do, whether that is work, college, volunteering, getting out regularly, keeping up with family, managing money with a hand from staff or learning to do more around the house. Predictability counts for a great deal here, so we keep staffing as consistent as we can and try not to change arrangements without warning and proper explanation. Respite stays are available alongside longer places. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission was requires improvement. We would rather tell you that ourselves than leave you to find it later. We are working through the points the inspectors raised, and if you are considering the house for yourself or someone in your family we will go through the report with you and answer anything you want to ask. Please come and visit. Meeting the people who live here will tell you more than we can.
