    • Care Home

Lyndhurst Residential Care Home is in Leigh, and we provide residential care for older people, for younger adults and for people living with dementia, along with respite stays for those who need a short break or whose family carer does. We are a home of a size where everyone knows everyone. Staff know which residents are early risers, who likes to sit where at lunch, who wants company and who would rather be left in peace with the crossword. That kind of knowledge is not written into any policy, but it is what makes a place feel liveable. When someone moves in we spend time on their history, work, family, places, music, faith, the things that shaped them. It helps us support people living with dementia, and it helps our staff see the person rather than the diagnosis. Meals are cooked here and residents tell us what they want on the menu. There are activities most days, but nobody is obliged to take part. Families are welcome at any reasonable hour and can join residents for a meal if they let the kitchen know. We keep in close contact with local GPs, district nurses and community health teams across Wigan so that changes in health are picked up quickly. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Do come and see the home before you decide anything.

    • Care Home

Hourigan House is a residential care home in Leigh, in the borough of Wigan. We look after older people who can no longer manage at home on their own, and a good proportion of the people living here have dementia. We also support some younger adults, and we offer respite as well as permanent places. We are not a nursing home. What we do is the daily, unglamorous and genuinely important work of helping somebody wash, dress, take their tablets, eat a decent meal and stay part of the world. Done properly that is a skilled job, and it rests almost entirely on whether the staff know the person. So we put our effort into keeping staff rather than into brochures. The people who work here tend to be from Leigh and the villages round about, and many have been with us a long while. For residents with dementia we have learned that structure helps more than stimulation. The same faces, meals at the same times, a familiar chair, nothing moved without reason. Within that, plenty happens. There is singing, there is a garden, there are children and dogs through the door regularly, and there is a lot of tea. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you are weighing up care for your mother or father, come and sit in the lounge for half an hour. You will learn more that way than from anything we could write.

    • Care Home

We at Heathside Residential Home offer a warm and welcoming residential care home in the heart of Leigh, where compassionate support meets a genuine sense of community. Nestled within the WN postcode area of Wigan in the North West, our home has become a trusted choice for families seeking dedicated residential and dementia care in a truly homely setting. Our environment has been thoughtfully shaped to feel less like an institution and more like a place you can genuinely call home. Set within the familiar surroundings of Leigh, residents benefit from being close to local amenities, community life, and the connections that matter, whilst enjoying the calm and comfort of a setting designed with their wellbeing in mind. Every corner of our home is created to encourage relaxation, conversation, and a sense of belonging, whether that is quiet moments in a favourite chair, shared laughter over meals, or spending time with visiting loved ones. Our care specialisms reflect the diverse needs of the people we support. We provide dedicated older person care and residential care, alongside specialised dementia care for those living with memory related conditions. We also welcome younger adults and support individuals with physical disabilities and visual or hearing impairments, recognising that meaningful care is never one size fits all. For families needing short term support, our respite care option offers a trusted place for loved ones to stay, whether that be to recover from a hospital stay, to bridge a gap in home care, or simply to give family carers a well deserved rest. In practice, this breadth of expertise means our team takes the time to truly understand each resident as an individual. We build care around personal histories, preferences, routines, and the small details that make life meaningful. For someone living with dementia, that might mean familiar music, cherished photographs, and gentle reassurance during moments of confusion. For a resident with a sensory impairment, it means adapting how we communicate and orient them within their surroundings so they feel confident and included. For younger adults or those with physical disabilities, it means supporting independence and dignity in every interaction. Families can take comfort in knowing that their loved one is not just cared for, but genuinely known. We are proud to hold an Outstanding overall rating from the Care Quality Commission, following our most recent inspection. This national recognition is something we do not take lightly. Within that rating, our Caring and Responsive domains were both rated Outstanding, whilst Safe, Effective, and Well led were each rated Good. For families, this offers meaningful reassurance. The Outstanding rating in Caring reflects the warmth, kindness, and respect our team brings to every interaction, and the Outstanding rating in Responsive shows that we listen, adapt, and shape our support around the changing needs of each resident. Together, these ratings speak to a home where people feel valued, heard, and treated with genuine compassion. Choosing a care home is one of the most important decisions a family can make, and we understand the weight of that choice. It often comes at a time of worry, uncertainty, and emotional strain, and we want families to know that they are not alone in navigating it. At Heathside Residential Home, our aim is simple: to provide a place where your loved one feels safe, respected, valued, and truly at home. If you would like to learn more about life at our home, discuss the needs of a family member, or arrange a visit to see our environment for yourself, we warmly invite you to get in touch. We would be honoured to welcome you and to share how we can support your family through this next chapter with care, dignity, and heart.

Carrington House is a residential care home in Leighton Buzzard, caring for older people who can no longer manage safely on their own, and supporting people living with a physical disability and younger adults. We aim for the feel of a household rather than an institution, with people keeping their own routines, their own belongings and a genuine say in how their day goes. We support people living with dementia, and that work depends on continuity above all. Knowing what somebody's day used to look like and keeping as much of it as we can matters more than any amount of written planning. Respite stays are available too, for people who need care for a short period and for family carers who need a break. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission was requires improvement. We would rather set that out ourselves than leave you to come across it elsewhere. We have taken the findings seriously and our focus has been on the things that shape daily life here rather than on paperwork alone. Anyone considering Carrington House should come and visit and ask us directly what has changed and how we are making sure it holds.

    • Care Home

We are a residential care home in Leighton Buzzard, providing a home for older people and younger adults who need help with daily living, including those living with dementia and people with physical disabilities. Our aim is a settled house where help is close at hand without taking over somebody's life. Residents keep their own rooms, belongings and routines as far as we can manage, and they decide how much they want to be part of whatever is happening. Where someone needs help with washing, dressing or moving about, we try to give it without hurry and without doing more of the task than is actually needed, because what a person can still manage themselves is worth protecting. Dementia care rests on knowing the person rather than following a procedure, so we ask families to tell us about working life, children, music, faith and old habits. That knowledge is worth more than any written plan when somebody is frightened or cannot place where they are. Meals are cooked here and we listen when somebody would rather have something different. Family and friends are welcome whenever they wish to come. Respite stays are available as well as permanent places. Please come and look round before deciding anything.

    • Care Home

We at The White House are proud to offer a warm and welcoming residential care home in the heart of Leighton Buzzard, where every resident is treated as part of our extended family. Nestled within the friendly community of Central Bedfordshire, our home provides compassionate residential care, dementia care, and support for older people and younger adults alike. Our setting in Leighton Buzzard offers the perfect balance of peaceful surroundings and easy access to local amenities. The home itself provides a comfortable, homely environment designed to feel familiar and reassuring from the moment you step through the door. Residents can enjoy the calm atmosphere of our communal spaces, where friendships flourish over a cup of tea, alongside quieter areas for personal reflection or visits with loved ones. Being part of the wider East of England region, we benefit from a location that is well connected for visiting family whilst maintaining the charm of a close knit Bedfordshire town. Our care offering is genuinely person centred. For older people who simply need a little extra support with daily living, we provide gentle, dignified assistance that helps preserve independence whilst ensuring safety and comfort. Our dementia care is delivered with patience, understanding, and specialist insight, recognising that each individual living with dementia has their own story, preferences, and rhythms. We work hard to create an environment where confusion is met with reassurance, and where small moments of connection are cherished. For younger adults in our care, we tailor support to reflect their stage of life, interests, and aspirations, ensuring they feel respected and valued as individuals rather than defined by their needs. In practice, this means families can trust that their loved one will be supported by a team committed to understanding the whole person. Whether it is honouring a favourite morning routine, supporting someone to continue a lifelong hobby, or simply being a listening ear during a difficult moment, our approach is grounded in kindness and continuity. We keep families closely involved, communicating openly about wellbeing, changes in care needs, and the everyday moments that matter. We are proud to be rated Good by the Care Quality Commission across every domain, including Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, and Well-led, following our most recent inspection in February 2022. This consistent rating reflects the dedication of our team and the standards we uphold every single day. For families, a Good rating across all five areas offers genuine peace of mind, confirming that the care provided here is safe, that outcomes for residents are positive, that compassion sits at the heart of what we do, that we respond thoughtfully to individual needs, and that the home is led with integrity and purpose. Choosing a care home is one of the most important decisions a family can make, and we understand the weight of that choice. If you are exploring options for a loved one in Leighton Buzzard or the surrounding Central Bedfordshire area, we warmly invite you to get in touch with us at The White House. We would be delighted to answer your questions, share more about daily life here, and welcome you for a visit so you can experience the atmosphere of our home for yourself.

Here at Valley Lodge Care Home, we are based in Eastleigh, Hampshire, and we provide residential care, dementia care and respite care for older people in a warm and welcoming environment. We understand that choosing a care home for yourself or someone you love is one of the most significant decisions a family can make. Our team works hard every day to ensure that the people living with us feel genuinely at home, with their routines, preferences and wellbeing at the centre of everything we do. We take the time to get to know each person as an individual, because good care cannot be delivered in a one size fits all way. Our dementia care provision is something we put a great deal of thought into. We know that living with dementia brings its own unique challenges, and we aim to create an atmosphere that feels calm, familiar and reassuring for residents and their families alike. We also offer respite care for those who need a short term stay, whether that is to give a family carer some time to rest or to support recovery after a period of illness. We welcome respite residents with the same care and attention as those who live with us permanently. We want to be straightforward about where we are on our journey. Our most recent Care Quality Commission rating identified areas where we need to improve, and we have taken that feedback seriously. We are actively working through the steps needed to raise our standards, and we welcome that accountability. Families deserve honesty, and we would rather be open about our progress than paper over the cracks. If you would like to visit us or have a conversation about whether Valley Lodge could be the right fit for your family, please do get in touch. We are always happy to talk.

    • Care Home

Little Brooke is a residential care home in Eastleigh for older people who need help with daily living, including many people living with dementia. We offer respite stays as well as permanent places. What we offer is fairly simple and we try to do it well. Help with washing, dressing and getting about, given at the person's own pace and in a way that protects their dignity. Medication managed properly. Three meals a day cooked here that people are glad to sit down to, with real choice at every one. Warm, clean rooms that people make their own with their own furniture and photographs. Company when it is wanted and quiet when it is not. With dementia we depend on knowing a person well, so we gather their history with their family when they arrive and keep adding to it, and we keep the shape of the day predictable because that helps more than anything else we could organise. We keep an eye on health without turning the house into a clinic. If somebody seems unwell we act early, involve the surgery and the district nurses, and tell families what is happening rather than waiting to be asked. Respite stays can give a relative who cares at home a genuine break, and they let somebody get to know us gradually. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated the home good overall.

We are Stoke Knoll Rest Home, a residential care home in Eastleigh, Hampshire. We support older people who need help with daily living, including those living with dementia and those living with mental ill health. This is a home rather than an institution, and we work hard to keep the atmosphere of a house where people live rather than a place where care is delivered. People bring their own furniture, pictures and belongings, and the day is built around what individuals actually want. Some prefer the sitting room and company, others their own room and quiet, and there is no expectation that anyone joins in with anything simply because it is on the calendar. For people living with dementia, we pay close attention to routine, to familiar objects and to the things that reduce anxiety, and we take the time to learn a person's history so we can meet them where they are. We provide respite care as well as permanent places. A planned short stay gives a family carer a genuine break, and it sometimes helps someone recovering from illness regain confidence before returning home. We prepare for those stays properly rather than treating them as filling a spare room. Our most recent Care Quality Commission inspection rated us good overall. Relatives and friends are welcome, and we encourage them to stay involved in whatever way suits the person. If you are considering care in the Eastleigh area, please come and visit us.

Orchard Gardens is a residential care home in Eastleigh. We support older people who need help with daily living, including people living with dementia, and we take respite bookings for families needing a short break or a period of extra support after illness. We try to run the place the way a household runs rather than the way an institution does. People get up when they wake, eat what they actually like, keep their own furniture and photographs about them and carry on with the habits that make them feel themselves. Relatives are welcome without appointment, and we would far rather people dropped in than waited for a visiting slot. Supporting somebody living with dementia asks for patience and a good memory for detail. Our staff learn the small things: the favoured chair, the songs that settle somebody, the hours of the day that are harder, the stories worth hearing again. None of that appears in a care plan, but it is what separates a home that works from one that merely functions. When a person's needs are changing we raise it early with the family rather than arriving with a decision already taken. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. If you are looking at residential or respite care in this part of Hampshire, please arrange to visit and we will show you round properly.

We at Sunnybank House are proud to offer a warm and welcoming residential care home in the heart of Eastleigh, Hampshire, where compassionate support meets everyday comfort. Our home has been thoughtfully designed to provide older people, younger adults, and those living with dementia a place they can truly call home. Nestled within the friendly community of Eastleigh in the South East, our setting offers residents the best of both worlds: the calm of a residential neighbourhood alongside easy access to the wider amenities of Hampshire. The surrounding area provides a peaceful backdrop for daily life, whilst remaining conveniently placed for families visiting from across the SO postcode region and beyond. Inside, we have created comfortable communal spaces where residents can socialise, relax, and enjoy the rhythm of daily life at a pace that suits them. Our specialisms reflect the breadth of care we are able to provide. For older people, we deliver attentive residential care rooted in dignity, respect, and genuine kindness. Our dementia care is delivered with patience and understanding, focusing on familiar routines, gentle encouragement, and meaningful moments that help residents feel safe and valued. We also welcome younger adults, recognising that care needs at any age deserve a personalised and thoughtful approach. For families who need short term support, our respite care offers a trusted place for loved ones to stay, whether following a hospital discharge, during a family holiday, or simply to give a carer a well earned break. In practice, this means residents and their families can expect care that is shaped around the individual. We take time to understand personal histories, preferences, hobbies, and routines, so that each day feels familiar and enriching. Families are warmly encouraged to remain closely involved, and we see relatives as valued partners in the wellbeing of those we support. Whether it is a favourite meal, a preferred bedtime, or a treasured piece of music, the small details matter deeply to us. Our commitment to quality is reflected in our CQC Overall rating of Good, following our latest inspection in August 2021. We were rated Good across the domains of Effective, Caring, Responsive, and Well led, which we feel truly reflects the ethos of our team and the atmosphere within our home. We received a rating of Requires Improvement in the Safe domain, and we take this feedback seriously, using it as a genuine opportunity to strengthen our practice, learn, and continually raise the standard of care we provide. Transparency and honest reflection are values we hold closely, and we believe families deserve a home that is open about both its strengths and its areas for growth. Choosing a care home is one of the most important decisions a family can make, and we understand the weight of that choice. If you are exploring options in Eastleigh or the wider Hampshire area, we would be delighted to welcome you to Sunnybank House, answer your questions, and show you around in person. Whatever stage you are at in your journey, please do reach out. We are here to listen, to reassure, and to walk alongside you with warmth and care.

Pinetree Care Home is a residential care home in Rayleigh, Essex. We look after older people who need help with day to day living, along with younger adults whose circumstances mean that living independently is no longer workable. Dementia care is central to what we do. We keep the surroundings calm and familiar, we allow time rather than rushing people through the day, and we make sure that staff know each resident's background and habits. Knowing who somebody was tells you a great deal about how to help them now, and it is the difference between care that fits and care that merely gets through the tasks. We want the house to feel like home. Residents bring their own things, keep their own routines, choose how they spend the day and see visitors whenever suits them. Meals are planned around what people actually enjoy, and there is always somewhere quiet for anyone who would rather step away from the company. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places, for a planned family break or for support while someone recovers after illness. • Care Home

Sweyne Court Care Home is a residential care home in Rayleigh, Essex. We provide a home for older people, including many living with dementia, and we also support some younger adults and offer respite stays for shorter periods of care. We want this to feel like somewhere people live rather than somewhere people have been placed. Residents bring their own furniture and photographs, keep their own routines and decide how the day runs. Some are up early and want company and conversation straight away. Others want their own room, a newspaper and a quiet afternoon. Neither needs explaining to us, and we plan around the person rather than around what suits a rota. Supporting people living with dementia is a large part of what we do, and steadiness is what helps most. Familiar faces, routines that change only when there is a reason, patience when words are hard to find, and a real effort to understand what somebody means rather than what they managed to say. Families are closely involved because they often hold the history that makes sense of the present. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. It reflects reliable everyday practice, which is what most families are genuinely looking for. If you are considering a care home in this part of Essex for someone close to you, you are welcome to visit, look round properly and ask us whatever you need to know.

    • Care Home

Elizabeth House is a residential care home in Hadleigh, Essex. We support older people who need help with daily living, along with younger adults, residents living with dementia, people with a physical disability and those living with a visual or hearing impairment. We also offer respite stays for shorter periods. We support a mix of people here, so we plan around individuals rather than categories. Residents decide when they get up, how they spend their time and what they eat. Meals are cooked on the premises and preferences are remembered. There is company and activity for those who want it and no pressure on anyone who does not. Our dementia care rests on knowing people properly. We ask families about a person's work, family, music and habits, because reassurance works far better when it is familiar, and we keep the pace unhurried. For residents with a sensory impairment we make sure conversation and information genuinely reach them, and where a physical disability is part of the picture we make sure staff are trained in the right equipment and techniques. We work closely with local GPs, community nurses and therapists, and we keep families properly informed. Visitors are welcome at any reasonable time. The Care Quality Commission most recently rated us good overall. Please come and look round.

Havengore House Residential Care Home is in Leigh on Sea. We look after older people who need support with everyday living, and we also support younger adults, people managing mental health conditions and people with physical disabilities. The mix of people we support is wider than in many homes, and we think that is a strength rather than a complication. It means we plan around the individual. What does somebody need, what can they still do perfectly well for themselves, and what do they want their day to look like. We aim for a calm, ordinary household. Residents bring their own belongings, keep their own routines, choose how they spend their time and see visitors when they like. Meals are planned around what people actually enjoy, and there is company for anyone who wants it and quiet for anyone who does not. For residents living with dementia, familiar surroundings, unhurried staff and a predictable day do more good than anything else we could provide. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places, whether for a planned family break or for support while someone regains strength after illness. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please come and see us at a time that suits you, speak to residents and relatives, and ask us anything you like.

We at Cavell Lodge are proud to offer a warm and welcoming residential care home in the heart of Leigh on Sea, providing dedicated older person care and dementia support to those who need it most. Our home sits within this much loved coastal Essex town, offering residents the comfort of a familiar community setting whilst benefiting from professional, compassionate care. Our location in Leigh on Sea places us within easy reach of the town's charming character, its green spaces and its close knit community feel. The SS postcode area is well connected for family members travelling to visit, and the peaceful surroundings help create an atmosphere where residents can truly feel at home. We aim to make every part of our environment comfortable, safe and reassuring, so that stepping through our doors feels less like arriving at a care home and more like coming home. At Cavell Lodge, we specialise in residential care for older people, dementia care and respite care. This breadth of expertise means we are able to support residents through different stages of later life, whether they need long term residential support or a shorter respite stay to give family carers a well earned break. Our approach to dementia care is built on patience, understanding and truly knowing each resident as an individual. We take time to learn about personal histories, preferences and daily routines, because we believe that meaningful care begins with meaningful relationships. For families, this means peace of mind that a loved one is being cared for not as a case, but as a person. Respite care at our home offers a flexible solution for families who need short term support, whether following a hospital stay, during a holiday, or simply to trial residential living in a gentle and unpressured way. Guests receive the same warm welcome and attentive care as our permanent residents, and many find that a short stay grows into a lasting sense of belonging. We are pleased to hold an overall Good rating from the Care Quality Commission, with Good ratings across every domain assessed, including Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well led. For families, this consistent standard reflects our ongoing commitment to safe practice, effective care, genuine kindness, responsive support and thoughtful leadership. It is a benchmark we work hard to uphold every single day. Choosing a care home is one of the most significant decisions a family can make, and we understand the weight of that choice. If you are exploring options for a loved one in the Leigh on Sea area, we warmly invite you to get in touch with us. Whether you have questions, would like to arrange a visit, or simply want a compassionate conversation about what your family needs, our door is always open. At Cavell Lodge, we are here to listen, to reassure and to care.

Avondale Rest Home is a residential care home in Leigh on Sea. We look after older people who need support with daily life, including residents living with dementia and people with physical disabilities, and we take respite bookings for short stays. We are a small home and we run like one. Our team knows every resident properly, which means somebody notices when a person eats less than usual, sleeps badly, seems low or is unsteady on their feet, and it gets acted on that day rather than at a review in a month's time. Life here is not heavily timetabled. Residents get up when they wake, eat what they actually like, and decide whether they want company in the lounge or peace in their own room. People bring their own furniture and photographs, and visitors come when it suits them. Being close to the seafront helps. Trips out, fresh air and family dropping in keep the home part of the town rather than separate from it. For residents living with dementia we keep things calm, familiar and consistent, and we work from each person's own history so that we can understand what they are telling us. Health needs are looked after with the local GP practice and community nurses, and families hear from us early when anything changes. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. You are welcome to visit at any reasonable time.

SummerHill is a residential care home in Leigh on Sea supporting a wide range of adults. Some of the people who live here are older, some are living with dementia, and others are adults with a learning disability or autism, mental health needs, a physical disability or a visual or hearing impairment. We support younger adults as well as older residents, and we take respite bookings. What keeps that mix working is that we plan around the person. Nobody here is treated as a category. We find out how somebody likes their day to run, what they can do themselves, what they want help with and what they would rather we left alone, and we build from there. For residents living with dementia we keep routines familiar and the environment calm. For those with a learning disability or autism we work hard on communication, predictability and giving notice before anything changes. For people with a sensory impairment we adapt how we approach and inform them. For those with a physical disability we look at equipment and layout, because independence is usually a practical matter. Respite guests are welcome and are part of the household while they are with us. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission was good. Beauleigh Court provides residential care in Leigh on Sea for older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia, people with physical disabilities and people who have sight or hearing loss. We also take planned respite stays. We try to make this feel like a home rather than somewhere people have been placed. Residents get up when they want, spend their days as they choose, keep their own belongings about them and have visitors whenever it suits them. Our staff help with personal care, medicines, meals and the practical running of the place, and they do it in a way that leaves people as much say as possible over their own lives. The small things are what residents notice. A familiar face on shift, tea made the way you like it, being asked rather than told, and somebody spotting that you are not quite yourself today. For residents living with dementia, and for anybody with sight or hearing loss, that familiarity matters far more than any programme of organised activity. Where somebody has a physical disability, we agree together how they want to be helped. Respite stays give family carers a genuine rest, and they let somebody find out what we are like before making a bigger decision. We ask residents and relatives regularly how we are doing, and we act on the answers, particularly the uncomfortable ones.

Grandville Lodge is a residential care home in Leigh on Sea for older people, including those living with dementia. We are not a nursing home, so what we do well is personal care, a settled daily rhythm and knowing everybody who lives here as a person rather than a set of needs. We help with washing and dressing, medication, meals and anything else that has become difficult, at the pace of the person rather than the pace of a rota. Residents decide when they get up and go to bed, where they sit, what they eat and whether they want company or a quiet afternoon on their own. For residents living with dementia we keep the surroundings familiar and the staff consistent, explain what is happening as we go and try to work out what is behind a change in mood instead of treating it as a symptom. Families usually know a person better than any assessment, and what they tell us shapes how we work. Mealtimes matter here. Food is cooked on the premises, we ask people what they actually fancy and nobody is hurried along. Being close to the estuary means getting out for some air is easy. Respite stays are available, whether to give a family carer a break or to help somebody regain strength after illness. You are welcome to visit and ask us anything.

St Edith's Court is a residential care home in Leigh on Sea. Our staff learn the small things: the favoured chair, the songs that settle somebody, the hours that are harder, the stories worth hearing again. None of that appears in a care plan, but it is what separates a home that works from one that merely functions. Being near the estuary matters to a good many of our residents, and we make use of it, because getting out does more for most people than anything that happens indoors. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. If you are looking at residential or respite care in this part of Essex, please arrange to visit.

Chalkwell Grange is a residential care home in Leigh on Sea, offering older people and younger adults a comfortable place to live with support always close at hand. We try to keep the feel of a household rather than an institution, with days led by the people living them. Supporting residents living with dementia is a large part of our work. We do that by learning who each person is, keeping routines familiar and the day unhurried, explaining changes before they happen, and looking for the cause when somebody is unsettled rather than treating it as behaviour to be managed. We also support people living with a physical disability and people who have sight or hearing loss, where our aim is to take the obstacle out of the way rather than narrow what somebody does. Our team helps with personal care, medication, mobility and meals, and equally with the parts of the day that give it value: conversation, company for those who want it, quiet for those who do not, and time outdoors when the weather allows. Rooms are personalised and relatives are welcome whenever they can come. Respite stays are available for people needing care for a short period. Catherine Miller House is a residential care home in Leigh On Sea. We are home to older people, including many living with dementia, and respite stays are part of what we do. Our priorities are plain: food worth eating, warm rooms, laundry that comes back with the right name in it, help that arrives without a long wait, and privacy when privacy is what somebody wants. Residents set their own hours rather than fitting ours. Dementia care here rests on knowing people. We ask relatives early for the history, the working life and the names, because those are what still connect when a great deal else has slipped, and without them we would be managing a condition rather than keeping company with a person. Food gets more thought than people expect. Appetite is often the first thing to go, and a meal that arrives cold, or needing help that has not come, quietly becomes a meal not eaten. The Care Quality Commission rates us good overall. We would far rather a relative raised something with us this week than mentioned it elsewhere next month.

Here at Adalah Residential Rest Home, we offer a warm and homely environment for older adults living in Leigh On Sea, Southend on Sea. We are a residential care home providing support for older people, including those living with dementia, as well as offering respite care for those who need a short term stay. We understand that choosing a care home is one of the most significant decisions a family can make, and we do not take that trust lightly. From the moment someone walks through our door, whether as a prospective resident, a family member, or a visitor, we want them to feel genuinely welcome and at ease. Our aim is simple: to support each person to live comfortably, safely, and with as much independence and dignity as possible. For those living with dementia, we work hard to create a calm and familiar atmosphere where residents feel secure and understood. We take time to learn about each person's history, preferences, and routines, because good care begins with truly knowing the individual. Our respite care is there for families who need a trusted place for their loved one during a period of recovery, a carer's break, or a time of change. We treat every short stay with the same thought and care as we would a long term placement. We are pleased that our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission resulted in an overall rating of good, and we continue to build on that by listening to residents, families, and our team. If you would like to find out more about life at Adalah, or you would simply like to come and have a look around, we would be very happy to hear from you. We are always open to a conversation.

Brambles Care Home is a residential care home in Leigh On Sea. We are home to older people, we support residents living with dementia, and we offer respite stays for those who need care for a short period, whether after a spell in hospital or to give a family carer a proper rest. We want life here to feel like life rather than like a routine being administered. Residents keep their own belongings and their own habits, get up and go to bed when they want, and choose how much of the day they spend in company. Meals should be something to look forward to, so we ask what people actually like rather than deciding for them. Dementia care depends far more on patience and familiarity than on anything elaborate. Staff who know a resident's history can make sense of what they are trying to say, ease a difficult afternoon before it escalates, and offer reassurance that genuinely reaches the person. So we keep the day calm and predictable, give people time, and treat rushing as a problem rather than as efficiency. Families are part of this too. Relatives are welcome without ceremony, and we tell them promptly when something has changed rather than waiting to be asked. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We look after that standard in the small things: the food, whether anyone is waiting too long, whether someone seems out of sorts. Anyone thinking about a move here is welcome to visit and see how it feels.

    • Care Home

We are The Old Vicarage, a residential care home in Budleigh Salterton. We care for older people, including many living with dementia, people with a physical disability, and people with a visual or hearing impairment. We have tried to keep the feel of a house rather than an institution. People bring their own furniture and pictures, come down when they wake rather than when a rota says so, and spend their days as they please. Some like the sitting room and the conversation that goes with it, others prefer their own room with the radio on, and neither choice needs explaining. Dementia care takes patience and it takes knowing the person. We spend time learning about the work somebody did, the family they raised, the music they grew up with and the routines that settle them. We do not argue about what year it is. We meet people where they are and find something good to do together. Where somebody has a visual or hearing impairment, we make sure every member of staff knows how that person prefers to be approached and spoken with. Small things, done consistently, make an enormous difference. We keep families informed and would rather ring early about a small worry. Visitors are welcome whenever suits them. Respite stays are available as well as permanent places. Our most recent CQC overall rating is good. Please get in touch to arrange a visit.

    • Care Home

The Firs Residential Home is a care home in Budleigh Salterton, Devon. We provide a home for older people, including those living with dementia and people with a physical disability, and we also offer respite stays for shorter periods of care. We are not a large place and we have no wish to be. What we offer instead is attention to the person, which sounds modest and is in fact the hardest thing in care to keep up over time. It means knowing how everybody likes their breakfast, which chair belongs to whom, who wants company in the morning and who would rather be left with the radio off. We ask about these things, we record them and we expect them to be followed. Dementia support is a large part of our work. Steady routines, familiar faces and patience do more good than anything else, along with a genuine effort to understand what somebody is telling us when words have become difficult. Families are welcome whenever it suits them and we keep in touch openly rather than only ringing when there is a problem. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. It reflects reliable everyday practice, which is what most families are actually looking for. If you are considering a care home in this part of Devon for someone close to you, please come and look round, meet our residents and staff and ask us anything you like.

    • Care Home

Hapstead Village is a residential care home in Buckfastleigh, Devon. We support older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia, people with a learning disability, people who are autistic and people with a visual or hearing impairment. We also offer respite stays. We want to be open about our regulatory position. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We have accepted the findings rather than argued with them, we are working through an improvement plan, and we have made changes to training, supervision and the way we record and review the support we give. The daily work of the home carries on meanwhile. Support is planned individually, because the people who live here have very different needs and very different lives. People choose their own food, keep their own routines, have a say in what happens and are supported to get out locally and keep up with family. Our team learns how each person communicates, including those who do not use speech, and treats distress as something with a cause rather than as behaviour to be contained. If you are considering Hapstead Village, please come and look round, ask us the difficult questions and judge us on what you find here.

    • Care Home

The Rock Care Home in Buckfastleigh is a residential care home for older people who need help with daily living. We support people living with dementia, people with mental health needs, people with physical disabilities and people with sight or hearing loss, and we offer respite stays. With that range of needs we build round individuals rather than running one routine. Before anybody moves in we spend time with them and whoever they want involved, learning how they like their days to go, what they manage perfectly well themselves and where help would be welcome. Help with washing, dressing, mobility, medication and health appointments is given as the person has asked and recorded carefully, so it happens the same way whoever is on shift. Rooms and equipment get real thought, since independence often turns on whether a thing is within reach. Where there is sensory loss we attend to lighting, contrast, clear signs and hearing aids that have actually been checked. With dementia we lean on knowing somebody well, gathering their history with their family and keeping it current. Where somebody is managing a mental health condition we aim to be steady and clear. Meals are cooked here with real choice, and there is space and quiet about us that people make good use of. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated the home good overall.

    • Care Home

Redmount is a residential care home in Buckfastleigh, Devon, providing a permanent home for older people who need help with the practical side of everyday life. We try to keep the place domestic, with the ordinary rhythms of meals, company, fresh air and rest. Our support covers personal care, medication, eating well, moving about safely and having somebody about who notices when a resident is not quite themselves. We support people living with dementia, and we rely on continuity: staff who know a person's history and habits, a routine that does not keep changing and reassurance given as often as it is needed. We care for residents living with mental health conditions, where a settled environment and early attention to changes matter greatly, and residents with physical disabilities, adjusting how we help with mobility so that independence is kept wherever it can be. Respite stays are available too, giving family carers a proper rest and letting a prospective resident get the feel of the home first. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good, and we treat that as a standard to hold rather than a badge to display. Please visit during an ordinary day, meet the people who live here and make up your own mind.

Arranging and funding a dementia care home place in Leigh

A move into a dementia care home is rarely decided in a single conversation. It usually follows months of managing at home with growing difficulty, and the formal steps have their own timetable. Understanding that timetable early tends to leave families with more choice and less pressure.

Getting a care needs assessment

Anyone who appears to need care and support has a right to an assessment, whatever their savings, and that includes people whose dementia is at an early stage. You can request one from Wigan Metropolitan Borough Council Adult Social Care, the authority responsible for assessments and for arranging funded support here. A practitioner will consider memory, orientation, personal care, mobility, medication, nutrition and risks such as leaving the cooker on or going out at night, and will record the support identified in writing. A husband, wife or adult child providing that support daily can ask for a carer's assessment in their own right.

What a placement costs and who contributes

A financial assessment then compares income, savings and capital with nationally set thresholds to establish whether the authority pays towards fees. Dementia care often carries a higher weekly rate than general residential care, because it needs more staff time and closer supervision. Ask each home for its fee schedule in writing and be clear about which extras sit outside it, since hairdressing, chiropody, escorted appointments and outings are commonly charged separately. Ask too what happens to the fee if needs increase, which with dementia they usually do.

Choosing between dementia care homes in Leigh

Thirty two homes is a substantial list, and the useful filters are narrower than they first appear. Look for homes registered specifically for dementia care, look at how close each one is to the people who will visit, and then look hard at what inspectors found.

Weighing up the inspection findings

One home here is rated Outstanding and twenty three are rated Good, with three rated Requires Improvement, one rated Inadequate and four awaiting a first inspection. For dementia care, read past the overall rating to what the report says about whether the service is caring and responsive, since that is where the quality of daily life shows up. Note when the inspection took place and what specifically concerned inspectors. Ask the manager directly what has changed since, and pay attention to whether the answer is concrete.

What matters on a visit

Visit in the afternoon, when tiredness and restlessness are often at their highest, and stay long enough to watch how staff respond. Notice whether people who are agitated are approached calmly and by name, whether residents can walk about safely rather than being confined to a chair, and whether the layout helps people find their own way to the lavatory and the garden. Ask what dementia training staff receive, how many carers are on duty overnight, how the home helps someone settle in the first fortnight, and how families are told when something changes.

Frequently asked questions about dementia care homes in Leigh

How many dementia care homes are there in Leigh?

Leigh has 32 CQC registered care homes that are registered for dementia care, out of 42 CQC registered care homes in Leigh: 1 Outstanding, 24 Good, 4 Requires improvement, 1 Inadequate, 2 not yet rated. Counts come from the CQC register and are kept up to date as ratings change.

Which dementia care homes in Leigh were inspected most recently?

Marigold House (26 August 2026), Brambles Care Home (3 August 2026) and Pinetree Care Home (28 July 2026) have the most recent CQC reports.

How is a care needs assessment arranged in Leigh?

Contact Wigan Metropolitan Borough Council and ask for an adult social care needs assessment, which can be requested by telephone or online. The assessment is free and open to anyone who appears to need care and support, regardless of income or savings. A practitioner will discuss memory, daily living, mobility, medication and safety at home, usually during a visit. What they record in writing becomes the basis for any support or funding that follows.

Can Wigan Metropolitan Borough Council fund a dementia care home placement?

It can where a needs assessment shows that residential dementia care is appropriate and a financial assessment supports it. Income, savings and capital are set against nationally fixed thresholds to determine who pays and how much. Where funding is agreed, the authority may arrange the placement itself or contribute towards fees at a home the family prefers. If that home costs more than the agreed rate, a third party may be asked to cover the shortfall.

Which dementia care homes in Leigh are listed on this page?

Thirty two residential care homes appear here, all registered with the Care Quality Commission to provide accommodation with personal care for people living with dementia. They include a home rated Outstanding, homes rated Good, homes rated Requires Improvement, a home rated Inadequate and homes not yet inspected. Each entry leads to a profile setting out the rating, registration details and inspection history. Checking that a home is registered for dementia care is the first filter worth applying.

What is the difference between a dementia care home and a dementia nursing home?

A dementia care home provides accommodation and personal care from staff trained to support people living with dementia. A dementia nursing home offers the same and additionally has registered nurses on site at all times for clinical needs. The homes listed on this page are registered for residential rather than nursing care. Where someone has advanced dementia alongside medical needs such as complex medication or tube feeding, a nursing registration is what to look for.

How early should a family start looking at dementia care homes?

Starting several months ahead is sensible, because dementia needs tend to change gradually and then suddenly. Assessments take time to arrange, and homes with a strong reputation for dementia care often have waiting lists. Looking early also means you can visit while your relative is still able to take part in the decision, which matters a great deal to many families. Even two or three unhurried visits now will make a later move considerably calmer.

What should I ask when visiting a dementia care home in Leigh?

Ask what dementia specific training staff receive and how often it is refreshed. Ask how the home supports someone who becomes distressed or restless, and what it does rather than reaching for medication. Find out how many carers are on duty overnight, how long the team has been in post and how new residents are helped to settle. Request the weekly fee in writing along with everything charged separately, and ask what happens to that fee as needs increase.
