    • Care Home

Victoria House provides residential care in Warrington for older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia and people with mental health needs. We also take planned respite stays. Our aim is straightforward. People who live here should be able to carry on being themselves, with the help they need arranged quietly around them. That means choosing when to get up, what to wear, where to sit and who to spend time with, and having staff who know those preferences well enough not to have to ask twice. Practically, we help with personal care, medicines, meals, and everything involved in running the place. For residents living with dementia, we keep the day familiar and the pace gentle. Rushing somebody creates distress that then takes far longer to settle than the time saved. For residents with mental health needs, consistency and a lack of fuss matter, along with staff who notice early when somebody is less well than they were. Respite stays are worth mentioning in their own right. They give family carers a genuine break, and they let people see what we are like before making a longer decision. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. What matters more day to day is what residents and relatives tell us, so we ask them.

    • Care Home

Arlington House Residential Care Home is in Warrington. We are a permanent home to older people, many of whom are living with dementia, and we also offer respite stays for those needing care for a short period or whose family carer needs a break. We help with the things that have become difficult: getting washed and dressed, moving about safely, medication given properly and on time, eating and drinking well, and having somebody nearby through the night. Where dementia is part of the picture it shapes the whole house rather than one wing of it. We keep the day recognisable, keep familiar staff around people, let residents hold on to their own belongings and habits, and sit with somebody who is upset instead of trying to talk them out of it. Food is cooked here and people are asked what they would like rather than told what there is. There is somewhere sociable to sit and somewhere quiet, the garden gets used when the weather allows, and families visit whenever they can and are welcome at mealtimes. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Choosing a care home is a difficult thing to do, so please come and visit, more than once if that helps, and ask us the awkward questions. Talking to whoever is on shift will tell you more than anything written here.

    • Care Home

Woodleigh is a residential care home in Warrington. We support older people and younger adults, and our experience covers dementia, learning disabilities and autism, mental health needs, physical disabilities, and sight and hearing loss. We also offer respite stays. Supporting that spread of needs means building round individuals rather than running one routine and expecting people to fit it. Before anybody moves in we spend time learning how they like their days to go, what they can manage themselves, where help is wanted and what they would rather we left alone, and that is what we then work to. Help with washing, dressing, mobility, medication and health appointments is given in the way the person has asked, and recorded carefully so it happens the same way whoever is on shift. We think about rooms and equipment properly, since independence often depends on whether a thing is within reach. For people with sensory loss we attend to lighting, contrast, signs and working hearing aids. With dementia we lean on knowing somebody well. We gather a person's history with their family and keep adding to it, so staff can respond to the person rather than the behaviour. Families are welcome whenever suits them and we would rather be honest with them early, including when something has gone wrong. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated the home good overall.

    • Care Home

Here at Arplemere Care Home in Warrington, we provide a warm and homely environment where the people in our care feel genuinely valued, respected and at ease. We believe that moving into a care home is a significant step, and we work hard to make sure that everyone who comes through our doors feels welcomed from the very first moment. We support a wide range of needs under one roof. Our team is experienced in older person care and residential care, and we also provide specialist support for people living with dementia, as well as those with physical disabilities and visual or hearing impairments. We are equally committed to supporting younger adults who require care and assistance with daily living. For those who are not yet ready for a permanent move, we offer respite care, which gives individuals a chance to stay with us on a shorter term basis while their regular carers take a well earned break. Day to day life at Arplemere is shaped around the people who live here. We take time to get to know each person, understanding what matters to them, what they enjoy and how they prefer to spend their time. Care plans are put together with residents and their families so that support always reflects individual wishes and needs rather than a one size fits all approach. Families are always welcome to visit, ask questions and stay involved in the lives of their loved ones. We think open communication is just as important as the practical care we provide, and we make every effort to keep relatives informed and reassured. We are proud to serve the Warrington community and to play a meaningful role in the lives of the people who choose to call Arplemere home.

    • Care Home

Arplemere Care Home is a residential care home in Warrington, supporting older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia and people who have a physical disability. A care home is judged by its ordinary days rather than its brochure, so that is where our attention goes. Meals cooked here and eaten at a table. Personal care offered calmly and in private. Medication managed properly. Rooms that look like they belong to the person living in them. Staff awake overnight. Enough happening in the house to give the day a shape, and nobody pressed into joining anything they have no interest in. People keep their own routines wherever we can arrange it, because a home that insists everyone rises at the same hour and bathes to a schedule has quietly stopped being a home. For residents with a physical disability, getting about matters enormously. Accessible bathrooms, the right equipment, and staff who know how a particular person wants to be helped to move. Mobility lost because assistance was inconvenient is easy to cause and very hard to reverse, so we work at preventing it. Where dementia is part of somebody's life we work on familiarity and calm instead of correction, and we ask relatives early for the history that helps us reach a person when they are distressed. The Care Quality Commission has not yet given us an overall rating. Come and see the home, unannounced if you prefer, and talk to the people who already live here.

    • Care Home

Here at Heathside, we provide residential and dementia care for older people in the heart of Warrington. Our home is a place where residents can feel genuinely settled, supported and at ease, and we work hard every day to make sure that is exactly what people experience when they walk through our doors. We specialise in older person care, residential care, dementia care and respite care. Whether someone is moving in with us on a permanent basis or joining us for a shorter stay to give family members a period of rest, we take time to understand who they are as an individual before anything else. What matters to them, how they like to spend their days, what makes them comfortable. That understanding shapes everything we do. For those living with dementia, we know how important familiarity and consistency are. Our team approaches each person with patience and attentiveness, creating an environment that feels calm and reassuring rather than clinical or rushed. We pay attention to the small things, because quite often it is the small things that make the biggest difference to how someone feels. Our most recent Care Quality Commission inspection rated us as Good, which we are proud of, though we see it as a reflection of what we aim for every day rather than something to rest on. We are always looking at how we can improve and listening to residents and their families when they share their thoughts with us. Families tell us that what they value most is knowing their loved one is genuinely looked after and not just going through the motions of a routine. That means a great deal to us. If you would like to find out more about life at Heathside or come and visit us in Warrington, we would be very happy to hear from you.

We also offer respite stays, either arranged ahead of time so that a family carer can have a break, or at shorter notice when someone needs looking after for a period. Whether a person who is anxious in the late afternoon is met with patience rather than a brisk routine. Those are the things we try to get right, and they depend on staff who know the people they are looking after properly. We want to be straight with you about our regulatory position. • Care Home

Three Elms is a residential care home in Warrington, and we provide a home for older people who need support with daily living. Respite stays are available as well, planned in advance or arranged quickly when a family needs cover. Most of what makes a care home good is ordinary detail rather than anything grand. Knowing which chair is somebody's. Getting the tea right. Not hurrying a person through a wash because the morning is busy. We help with personal care, dressing, medication and mobility, doing it quietly and leaving as much privacy and choice with the resident as we can. Where somebody can still manage a task themselves, that is theirs to keep. Dementia care is a significant part of our work. We keep the daily rhythm and the surroundings steady, give people time to find their words instead of finishing their sentences, and take trouble to learn about earlier life, because knowing what somebody did for a living and what they loved tells us a great deal once language becomes unreliable. Families usually hold that story and we ask for it early. Respite bookings are planned with the same care as permanent moves, because a break only rests a family if the person staying with us is genuinely settled rather than merely safe. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Come and see us on an ordinary afternoon and ask us anything you like.

Lime House is a residential care home near Warrington supporting older people, including those living with dementia, and adults with mental health needs. We help with washing and dressing, medication, meals and whatever else has become difficult, and we leave people in charge of the rest. Residents decide when they get up and go to bed, where they spend the day, what they eat and whether they want company or a quiet afternoon on their own. For residents living with dementia we keep the house familiar and the staff consistent, explain what is happening as we go and take time to work out what lies behind a change in mood rather than treating it as a symptom. For residents with mental health needs, stability, a calm household and staff who know a person well enough to notice a change do most of the good, and we work with local services and doctors. Meals are cooked here and we ask people what they actually want to eat. Visitors are welcome at any reasonable time, and getting out for some air is part of the ordinary week rather than a special event. Respite stays are available, whether to give a family carer a break or to support somebody through a short period of difficulty. Please ring us if you would like to come and look round.

We at Rosevilla Residential Home offer warm, welcoming residential care in the heart of Warrington, where every resident is treated as part of our extended family. Nestled within the familiar surroundings of the WA postcode area, our home provides a comfortable and homely setting for older people and younger adults alike who need a little extra support in their daily lives. Our location in Warrington places us within easy reach of local amenities, green spaces, and the wider community, making visits from family and friends straightforward and stress free. The home itself has been thoughtfully arranged to feel less like an institution and more like the place our residents genuinely call home, with communal areas that encourage friendship and quieter corners for those moments when a little peace is preferred. Care at Rosevilla is shaped around the individual. We specialise in residential care for older people, offering the reassurance of round the clock support with everyday tasks such as personal care, medication, and meals, whilst always respecting the independence and dignity of each person who lives with us. For families navigating a loved one's dementia journey, our dementia care approach focuses on creating calm, predictable routines and meaningful moments, helping residents feel safe and understood even as their needs change over time. We also welcome younger adults who require residential support, recognising that care needs are not defined by age alone. Our team takes the time to understand each person's history, preferences, and aspirations, building a plan of care that reflects who they are rather than simply what they need. For families who are caring for a loved one at home and need a short break, our respite care offers a trusted, comforting environment where guests can enjoy the full benefits of life at Rosevilla for a planned stay, giving carers the chance to rest, recharge, or attend to other commitments with complete peace of mind. What this looks like in practice is a daily rhythm built around choice and companionship. Residents are supported to rise, dine, and spend their day in ways that suit them, whether that means joining in with group activities, enjoying a quiet chat over a cup of tea, or spending time with visiting relatives. Families are always welcome, and we see open communication as one of the most important parts of good care. Our commitment to quality is reflected in our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission, following their visit on 13 May 2026, where Rosevilla Residential Home was rated Good overall. We were also rated Good across every one of the five key areas the CQC assesses: whether the home is safe, effective, caring, responsive, and well led. For families, this consistent rating offers meaningful reassurance that the care we provide is not only kind and compassionate but also safely delivered, thoughtfully managed, and genuinely responsive to the people who live here. Choosing a care home is one of the most important decisions a family can make, and we understand the weight of that choice. If you are exploring options for a loved one in Warrington or the surrounding areas, we would be delighted to hear from you. Please feel free to get in touch to arrange a visit, meet the team, and see for yourself the warm, homely atmosphere that makes Rosevilla Residential Home somewhere truly special to call home.

Arranging and funding a dementia care home place in Warrington

Dementia tends to make the financial picture harder to plan, because needs change over time and a home that suits someone today may not suit them in two years. Understanding the assessment process and how fees work early on gives a family room to make decisions rather than react to them.

Asking for a care needs assessment

Any adult who appears to need care and support can request a care needs assessment, and a relative providing that care can ask for a separate carer's assessment in their own right. Both are arranged through Warrington Borough Council adult social care, the authority responsible for assessing need and for arranging funded support where someone qualifies. The assessment records how a person manages washing, dressing, meals, medication and moving about, and where memory loss is involved it should also capture orientation, communication and risk. It ends in a written statement of need rather than a recommendation of a particular home.

Who contributes, and how much

Where eligible needs are identified, a financial assessment considers income and capital. Savings above the upper threshold mean the placement is funded privately; below it, the authority contributes and the resident pays an assessed share out of income. How a property is treated depends on who else lives in it and on the circumstances of the household. Where someone lacks capacity to manage their own finances, ask the team about the arrangements that allow a relative to act on their behalf.

What the weekly fee covers

Residential fees are charged weekly and normally cover the room, all meals, laundry and personal care. Rates differ between homes in Warrington, and some charge more where a resident needs closer supervision. Ask every shortlisted home for a written breakdown, and ask directly what would happen to the fee, and to the placement itself, if needs increased significantly.

Choosing between dementia care homes in Warrington

Eleven homes is a list that can be worked through carefully, and with eight rated Good the published record narrows it only so far. The rest of the decision rests on how a home actually handles dementia day to day.

What the registration allows

All eleven providers here are registered for residential care, meaning accommodation with personal care rather than nursing on site. Where dementia is accompanied by clinical needs requiring a qualified nurse on the premises, a nursing registered home is the better starting point. Ask each home directly what stage of dementia it is able to support, and what would prompt it to say it could no longer meet someone's needs.

Reading the inspection report with dementia in mind

Open the full report rather than the summary word. Each inspection answers five questions, covering whether a home is safe, effective, caring, responsive and well led, and for dementia the caring and responsive sections repay the closest reading. Where a home has been told it requires improvement, the report sets out exactly what the concerns were. Check the date as well, since staffing and leadership can change quickly.

What to look for on a visit

Go at a busy time, ideally late afternoon, when restlessness is most likely. Watch how staff respond to someone who is confused or repeating a question, whether they crouch to eye level, and whether they use distraction rather than correction. Notice whether corridors are easy to follow, whether bedroom doors are recognisable, and whether residents can move about safely. Homes such as Heathside, Three Elms and Arlington House Residential Care Home appear here alongside others, and this is the kind of detail no rating conveys.

Can Warrington Borough Council fund a dementia care home placement?

It can, where the care needs assessment identifies eligible needs and the financial assessment shows that income and capital fall below the relevant thresholds. Warrington Borough Council is the authority responsible for carrying out both assessments and for arranging any funded support that follows. Where savings sit above the upper threshold the placement is funded privately, although the team can still explain the options available. Where someone lacks capacity to manage their finances, ask about the arrangements that allow a relative to act for them.

How do I arrange a care needs assessment in Warrington?

Contact the adult social care team at Warrington Borough Council and ask for a care needs assessment, which any adult who appears to need care and support is entitled to request. The request can come from the person themselves, or from a relative, GP or memory clinic acting on their behalf. Where dementia is involved, ask that the assessment covers orientation, communication and risk as well as help with daily tasks. A financial assessment then follows to establish who pays what.

How far ahead should I start looking for a dementia care home in Warrington?

Starting well before a move becomes urgent is particularly important with dementia, because a familiar decision made calmly is easier for everyone than a rushed one. Visiting several homes over a few months gives a much clearer sense of how each manages memory loss. Both the needs assessment and the financial assessment take weeks rather than days to complete. Urgent placements can be arranged after a hospital admission, but the choice available is considerably narrower.

Which providers in Warrington offer dementia care?

12 residential care homes in Warrington are listed on this page, and each holds registration with the Care Quality Commission. They include Heathside, Three Elms, Woodleigh and Arlington House Residential Care Home, alongside further homes across the area. What each can support varies, so ask directly about the stage of dementia a home is able to manage. Each profile sets out the registration details and the most recent inspection outcome.

What should I ask when visiting a dementia care home in Warrington?

Ask what training staff receive in dementia care and how often it is refreshed, and ask how they respond when a resident becomes distressed or restless. Check how many staff are on duty in the late afternoon and overnight, and how consistently the same carers work with the same residents. Ask how the home involves families in reviewing care and what it does to keep familiar routines going. Finally, ask what would prompt the home to say it could no longer meet someone's needs.

What is the difference between a dementia care home and a dementia nursing home?

A dementia care home is registered to provide accommodation with personal care, which covers help with washing, dressing, meals, medication and daily support, delivered by staff trained in dementia care. A dementia nursing home holds a further registration requiring a qualified nurse on duty, so it can also meet clinical needs such as complex wound care or feeding tubes. Every provider listed on this page is registered for residential care rather than nursing. If nursing input is needed on site, the search should be widened to nursing registered homes.
