- Care Home
Lakeview Rest Homes is a residential care home in Lytham St Annes, Lancashire. We are home to older people who need support with daily life, including many living with dementia, and we offer respite stays for people recovering from illness or giving a family carer a break. Moving into a home usually follows a difficult period, so we take the settling in slowly. We ask about the routines somebody has kept for years, the food they actually like, how they take their tea and whether they would rather be up early or have a lie in, and we build around that rather than expecting people to adapt to us. Rooms hold people's own furniture and photographs, and we knock before we come in. Days here are not heavily organised. Company, conversation and a walk out for those who want it, the newspaper and quiet for those who do not. For residents living with dementia, familiarity does most of the work, so we keep our team settled and learn each person's history properly, which is what allows us to make sense of what they are telling us. When somebody is distressed we look for the reason behind it. We work with local GPs and community nurses so health changes are picked up early, and families are kept properly informed. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. Please come and look round.

Stella Matutina is a residential care home in Lytham St Annes. We are home to older people, including many living with dementia, and we support younger adults too. Respite stays are part of what we do. We aim at the basics and try to do them properly: food people finish, rooms at the right temperature, help that comes quickly, and time to yourself when you want it. Dementia care here rests on knowing people. We ask relatives early for the history, the working life and the names, because those are what still connect when a great deal else has slipped, and without them we would be managing a condition rather than keeping company with a person. Being close to the coast is genuinely useful. Getting out for some air, weather permitting, does more for most people than anything we could organise indoors. Night time matters as much as the day. People who are awake at three in the morning should find somebody willing to sit and talk rather than somebody waiting for them to settle. The Care Quality Commission rates us good overall. Families are welcome to arrive unannounced and see us on an ordinary day, which is the only visit that tells you anything.

- Care Home
Newfield Lodge Rest Home is in Lytham St Annes. We provide residential care for older people, including those living with dementia, and we offer respite stays alongside permanent places. We keep things straightforward. People usually come to us because managing at home had become hard work, and what they want back is some ease. Meals they do not have to plan or cook. Help when washing and dressing has become a struggle. Somebody who notices when they are not themselves. Company when they want it and peace when they do not. Residents carry on running their own lives as far as they are able, choosing their routines, arranging their rooms and deciding how much of the day to spend downstairs. We ask people to bring their own furniture and pictures, because a room that looks like yours makes settling in far easier than one that looks like anybody's. Dementia care here is built on consistency rather than anything elaborate. Familiar staff, a steady rhythm to the day, and knowing something about a person's earlier life. Families usually supply the details that explain everything, and we ask for them early. When somebody is unsettled, we look for the reason. Being on this stretch of coast, a change of scene is easy to arrange and trips out are part of the ordinary week. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please come and look round Newfield Lodge and ask us whatever you need to.

- Care Home
Redlands Care Home is in Lytham St Annes. We provide residential care for older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia, people managing mental health conditions and people dealing with difficulties around alcohol or drugs, and we offer respite stays. The people who come to us have arrived by very different routes, and we have learned not to treat anybody as a type. Some residents are here because age has made managing at home unsafe. Others are here because their mental health or a long struggle with alcohol has made independent living difficult for now. What both groups need from us is the same, which is somewhere settled, staff who do not judge them, and a say in how their own day runs. We are consistent and we are patient, and we work alongside community mental health teams, GPs and recovery services rather than in parallel with them. Residents take part in running the house, hold regular meetings and are listened to when they raise something. For residents living with dementia we keep the day predictable and calm and we learn what reassures a particular person. Meals are cooked here and people have a say in what appears. Visitors are welcome through the day, and the coast is close enough to be part of ordinary life. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please come and see the home and talk to the people living in it.

- Care Home
Headroomgate is a residential care home in Lytham St Annes in Lancashire. We support older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia, people managing mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities, people living with sight or hearing loss, and people recovering from an eating disorder. Respite stays are available. The people living here have genuinely little in common in terms of what they need, so we plan support one person at a time and mean it. What settles somebody with dementia is not what helps somebody living with a long standing mental health condition, and neither resembles what helps somebody working their way back from an eating disorder. So we spend our attention on particulars: how somebody likes to be addressed, what they can do themselves and would rather we left alone, what makes a difficult day and what heads it off early. Where the work is sensitive we go carefully and without judgement, because recovery rarely runs in a straight line. Where sight or hearing loss is in the picture, habits matter more than equipment: saying who you are as you come into a room, leaving furniture where it belongs, checking that glasses and hearing aids are working. The Care Quality Commission rated us good at our most recent inspection.

- Care Home
We at Riverside Rest Home are proud to offer compassionate residential care in the coastal town of Lytham St Annes, Lancashire. Our home provides a warm, welcoming environment where older people, including those living with dementia or learning disabilities, can feel truly at home. Whether you are seeking long term residential care or a shorter respite stay, we are here to support you and your loved ones every step of the way. Nestled within the FY postcode area of Lytham St Annes, our home benefits from the gentle charm of this well loved seaside community on the Fylde coast. The town itself offers a peaceful, restorative setting, with its famous windmill, tree lined streets, and easy access to the promenade. This tranquil backdrop shapes daily life at Riverside Rest Home, offering residents a sense of calm and continuity that is so important in later life. Our care is tailored to the individual, because we believe every resident brings their own story, preferences, and needs. For older people who simply require a helping hand with the tasks of daily living, our residential care ensures dignity, comfort, and companionship. For those living with dementia, we provide a patient, understanding approach that focuses on familiarity, reassurance, and meaningful engagement, helping residents feel safe and valued even as memory becomes more fragile. Our specialism in supporting adults with learning disabilities and autism means we take time to understand each person's communication style, sensory preferences, and personal goals, creating a supportive routine that empowers rather than restricts. Respite care is also an important part of what we offer. We understand that family carers sometimes need a well earned break, or that a short stay may be needed following a hospital discharge or during a period of recovery. Our respite guests receive the same warm welcome and attentive care as our permanent residents, whether they stay with us for a week, a fortnight, or a little longer. Families choosing a care home want the reassurance of independent oversight, and we are pleased that the Care Quality Commission rated Riverside Rest Home as Good overall at its most recent inspection in April 2021. This rating extends across all five key areas assessed by the regulator, meaning we were judged Good for being safe, effective, caring, responsive, and well led. For families, this consistent picture offers meaningful reassurance that the care provided here meets national standards across every aspect of home life, from safeguarding and clinical effectiveness through to leadership culture and the way we respond to individual needs. Choosing a care home is one of the most significant decisions a family can make, and we recognise the weight of that responsibility. We warmly invite you to get in touch, ask questions, and arrange a visit so you can see for yourself the atmosphere at Riverside Rest Home. Whether you are planning ahead or navigating a more urgent situation, our door is open, and we are here to listen with kindness and honesty.

Arranging and funding a dementia care home place in Lytham St. Annes
The assessment that comes first
Fees are rarely the right place to begin. The formal starting point is a care needs assessment, which anyone who appears to need care and support can request whatever their savings, and which records what a person genuinely struggles with rather than what a family fears might be coming. Asking the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames social care team to carry out that assessment sets the process moving, and the written outcome becomes a useful document to take into conversations with managers. A relative who provides unpaid care can request a carer assessment of their own alongside it.
Who pays, and how that is decided
A financial assessment follows the care assessment and looks at capital and income against the national thresholds. Where capital sits below the upper threshold the authority may contribute towards a placement, with the contribution tapering as capital rises; above it, families usually fund the placement themselves. If a registered nursing need is confirmed, a health service contribution can apply separately, though none of the 6 homes listed here carries nursing registration.
Reading a fee quote properly
Weekly charges differ by home, by room and by the level of support agreed, so treat an early figure as an opening position and ask for it in writing. Check specifically what falls outside the headline rate, since chiropody, hairdressing, outings and some continence items are often billed separately, and ask how much notice is given before a rise.
Choosing between dementia care homes in Lytham St. Annes
Registration tells you the ceiling of care
All 6 providers on this page are registered for residential care, meaning accommodation with personal care: help with washing, dressing, medication, meals and the rhythm of the day. None is registered to keep qualified nurses on duty overnight. Ask each manager at what point a changing health need would mean a move elsewhere, because the answer shapes how settled a placement is likely to feel in two years.
What the ratings do and do not tell you
Three of these homes hold a rating of Good, one Requires Improvement, and Rathmore Care Home has not yet been rated. An unrated home has simply not had a published inspection of this kind yet, which calls for more questions rather than suspicion. Where a home Requires Improvement, read which of the five inspection questions was marked down, as record keeping and recruitment paperwork weigh differently from concerns about resident safety.
Visit at an unglamorous hour
Arrange at least one visit in the late afternoon or early evening, when staffing is thinner and tiredness shows. Watch whether residents are spoken with as adults, whether anyone is left calling without a response, and whether staff know the people around them by preference rather than by room number.
Frequently asked questions about dementia care homes in Lytham St. Annes
How many dementia care homes are there in Lytham St. Annes?
Lytham St. Annes has 6 CQC registered care homes that are registered for dementia care, out of 8 CQC registered care homes in Lytham St. Annes: 4 Good, 1 Requires improvement, 1 not yet rated. Counts come from the CQC register and are kept up to date as ratings change.
Which dementia care homes in Lytham St. Annes were inspected most recently?
Westholme Care Home Limited (6 February 2026), Rathmore Care Home (24 August 2023) and Clarence House (3 August 2023) have the most recent CQC reports.
Can London Borough of Richmond upon Thames fund a dementia care home placement?
It can contribute, but the decision comes in two stages rather than one. London Borough of Richmond upon Thames first carries out a care needs assessment to establish that residential dementia care is the appropriate form of support, then completes a financial assessment of capital and income. Any contribution towards fees reduces as capital rises above the national thresholds, and above the upper threshold a placement is normally funded privately. Ask the social care team to set out in writing how those stages apply to your relative, including what happens if savings fall over time.
How do I arrange a care needs assessment in Lytham St. Annes?
Contact the adult social care team at London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, which is the authority responsible for carrying out the assessment. Anyone who appears to need care and support has a right to one regardless of savings or income, and you can ask on a relative's behalf with their agreement. The assessment covers what the person finds difficult day to day, what matters to them, and what risks are present at home. You should receive a written record of the outcome, which is worth having to hand when you speak to homes.
How far ahead should I start looking at dementia care homes?
Beginning the search a few months before a move becomes pressing gives you choices that a crisis never does. With only five matching providers in Lytham St. Annes, availability can tighten quickly, so early contact lets you ask each home how its waiting list works and whether a room can be held. Early enquiries also allow more than one visit, at different times of day, which is the single most useful thing you can do. If a hospital discharge is being planned, tell the ward team and the social care team straight away so the assessment runs in parallel.
Which providers offer dementia care homes in Lytham St. Annes?
6 providers match this search: Clarence House, Rathmore Care Home, Hedges House Residential Care Home, Westholme Care Home Limited and Rose House Residential Care Home. All five are registered with the Care Quality Commission as residential care homes. Clarence House, Hedges House Residential Care Home and Westholme Care Home Limited hold a rating of Good, Rose House Residential Care Home has been rated Requires Improvement, and Rathmore Care Home has not yet been rated. Open each profile to read the inspection findings in full before narrowing your list.
What should I ask on a visit to a dementia care home?
Ask what dementia training the staff have completed and when it was last refreshed, rather than accepting a general claim about experience. Ask how the team responds when somebody becomes distressed, wants to walk at night, or refuses personal care, since those replies show you the culture more honestly than the furnishings do. Find out how stable the staff team is, because familiar faces make recognition and trust possible. It is also fair to ask how the home involves families in care planning and how concerns have been handled in the past.
What is the difference between a dementia care home and a dementia nursing home?
A dementia care home is registered for accommodation with personal care, covering support with washing, dressing, medication, meals and daily structure. A dementia nursing home holds a further registration that requires qualified nurses on duty, allowing it to manage ongoing clinical needs such as complex wounds, tube feeding or unstable medical conditions. Every provider listed on this page is registered as a residential care home, so none offers nursing on site. Where a relative has health needs alongside dementia, or they are expected to grow, raise that with a manager before a place is accepted.
