About Us
Stella Matutina is a residential care home in Lytham St Annes. We are home to older people, including many living with dementia, and we support younger adults too. Respite stays are part of what we do.
We aim at the basics and try to do them properly: food people finish, rooms at the right temperature, help that comes quickly, and time to yourself when you want it.
Dementia care here rests on knowing people. We ask relatives early for the history, the working life and the names, because those are what still connect when a great deal else has slipped, and without them we would be managing a condition rather than keeping company with a person.
Being close to the coast is genuinely useful. Getting out for some air, weather permitting, does more for most people than anything we could organise indoors.
Night time matters as much as the day. People who are awake at three in the morning should find somebody willing to sit and talk rather than somebody waiting for them to settle.
The Care Quality Commission rates us good overall. Families are welcome to arrive unannounced and see us on an ordinary day, which is the only visit that tells you anything.
