About The Lindsay
The Lindsay is a nursing home in Poole. We care for older people and younger adults whose needs include nursing, including many living with dementia, and we offer respite stays. Nursing on site means a change in somebody's health is something we manage rather than a reason to send them elsewhere. Families who have already arranged one difficult move usually understand the value of that straight away. The work we do deliberately is keeping the place domestic. A home with clinical staff in it can slide into feeling like a ward, and once that happens people stop being consulted about their own day and relatives start behaving like hospital visitors. So mealtimes, fresh air, unhurried help and privacy are protected on purpose. For residents living with dementia we hold the routine still and learn the life behind the person, because knowing where somebody worked and who they married changes what we can offer when they are unsettled. Having younger residents alongside older ones means we plan individually rather than running one programme. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Ask us what we got wrong in the past year, and we will tell you.
