About Us
Drumconner Care Home is a nursing home in Bournemouth. We care for older people who need qualified nursing as well as everyday support, and for people living with a physical disability whose needs mean that nursing has to be part of the picture. Registered nurses are here around the clock, which allows us to manage medication, wound and pressure care and changing health needs on site, and it spares people the upheaval of moving on each time their health shifts. Much of what makes a day good here is not clinical at all. It is being helped out of bed at the hour you would choose, having your own things around you, eating something you actually want and having someone sit down with you rather than talk across you. We try to protect that, because it is easy for it to get squeezed out by the practical side of nursing care. We offer respite stays, which are often the right answer when a family carer is exhausted or when someone needs a settled period of recovery after a hospital admission. Those stays are planned with the same attention as a permanent move. We work closely with general practitioners, district nurses and hospital teams, and we keep families informed when health changes rather than waiting for the next visit. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
