About Us
EHC Cumbria provides care and support to people in their own homes in Penrith and the surrounding area. We are a home care agency, and our work is about making it realistic for people to stay where they want to be.
We support older people who are finding parts of the day harder than they used to, whether that means help getting up, washed and dressed, prompting or assistance with medication, preparing meals, shopping, laundry, or a hand with the paperwork and appointments that build up. We also support younger adults who need practical help to live the way they choose.
A good deal of our work is with people living with dementia and with the families around them. Consistency is what helps most, so we send the same small group of carers wherever we can, we take our time on a visit rather than working through a list, and we tell relatives honestly how things are going rather than waiting to be asked.
This is a rural area and we do not pretend that makes scheduling simple. What we will not do is promise a level of cover we cannot reliably staff. If we can do it, we will say so; if we cannot, we will tell you that instead of letting you down later.
