About Us
New Living Cumbria supports people in their own homes in Barrow in Furness and the surrounding area. We visit older people and younger adults who need a hand with the practical parts of daily life.
We keep what we do straightforward. A visit might mean help to get up, washed and dressed in the morning, support with medication, a meal made properly, the shopping and laundry sorted, or a lift to an appointment. For some of the people we visit, the greatest value is simply that somebody reliable turns up, notices how things are and has time for a proper conversation.
Our rounds are planned so that the same carers go to the same homes. In a town where distances are manageable but isolation is real, that continuity matters. Familiar staff know what normal looks like for a person and speak up when it changes, which is very often what keeps a small difficulty from turning into something serious.
We agree what is needed with the person and with whoever they want involved, write it down in plain language and change it when circumstances change rather than waiting for a review date.
The Care Quality Commission has not yet given us an overall rating. We would rather tell you that openly than let it pass unmentioned. We are glad to explain how we recruit, train and supervise our staff and to answer any question before you decide anything.
