About Alexandras Community Care
Alexandras Community Care Truro provides care and support to people in their own homes in Truro and the surrounding part of Cornwall. We work with people living with dementia, people with physical disabilities and people with sight or hearing loss. Most people who come to us want to stay where they are. In their own house, with their own things around them and their own way of doing the day, helped just enough to make that safe. Our job is to provide that help without taking over somebody's household. We start with a visit and a proper conversation about what has actually become difficult, which is often not what families assume. Sometimes it is washing and dressing, sometimes medication or meals, sometimes getting out to an appointment, and quite often it is simply that the house has become very quiet. The plan follows from that conversation and is revised as needs change. We keep the team around each person small, because being helped by somebody who already knows you is most of what makes home care work. For people living with dementia and for anyone who cannot see well, a familiar voice at the door counts for a great deal. Cornwall is a rural county and rotas that look neat on paper often leave people waiting, so we build ours around real distances. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please call us if you would like to talk things over.
