Care Homes in Warwickshire 116 care homes · 91 rated Good by CQC

Residential care in Warwickshire is usually considered when the support a family can give at home has reached its practical limit, and the care homes listed here are the registered options available at that point. One hundred and sixteen homes match this search, every one of them registered for accommodation with personal care rather than nursing. Their inspection outcomes vary: Outstanding has been awarded to some, Good applies to the largest number, Requires Improvement has been recorded elsewhere, and a further group is not yet rated. Warwickshire County Council carries out the care needs assessment that establishes whether residential care is the right answer, along with the financial assessment that determines any contribution towards fees from public funds. Making that contact early tends to save difficulty later. The decision itself, though, is made on detail. Read each home's profile and the CQC inspection report behind it, then choose where to visit on the strength of what inspectors actually found.

    • Care Home

Milner House is a residential care home in Rugby, Warwickshire. We provide a home for older people and for younger adults, and we take respite bookings as well as permanent placements. The people who live here have a wide range of needs. We support people living with dementia, people with a learning disability or autism, people managing mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities and people with a visual or hearing impairment. What holds that together is a fairly plain approach. Work out what a decent day looks like for each person, then arrange the support around that instead of around a routine that happens to suit the building. Practical help covers washing and dressing, medication, meals, mobility and support overnight. Beyond that we pay attention to the things that quietly slip, such as whether somebody is getting outside, whether they still see the people who matter to them, and whether there is anything in the week to look forward to. Families are part of how this works. We keep in touch, we say when something has changed, and visitors are genuinely welcome rather than tolerated. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you are considering a home in this part of Warwickshire, come and see us and judge the place on what you find.

Turning Point at Marloes Walk is a residential care home in Leamington Spa. We support adults, including younger adults, who have a learning disability or autism and people with physical disabilities, and we offer respite stays as well as permanent places. What we are aiming at is an ordinary life, properly supported. People here have their own space and their own belongings, they decide how their week is spent, and they are supported to do things for themselves wherever that is possible rather than having things done to them. Cooking, shopping, managing money, getting out into town, keeping up with work or college and staying in touch with family all matter more than anything that happens on a care plan form. Our staff take time to understand how each person communicates. For some people that involves speech, for others it is signing, symbols, a communication aid or a set of gestures that belongs to them alone, and it is our responsibility to learn it rather than expect the other way round. Where somebody has physical disabilities we make sure the practical support and equipment are right, so that help with moving, personal care and daily routines is safe, comfortable and dignified. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you are looking at a place here, for yourself or for somebody in your family, please visit as often as you need and ask us anything.

    • Care Home

We are Drovers House, a residential care home in Rugby, Warwickshire. We support older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia, people with mental health needs, people with physical disabilities and people with a visual or hearing impairment. We also offer respite stays. That is a broad mix, and we plan carefully because of it. Somebody who wants a busy sociable day and somebody who needs quiet and a predictable routine can both live well here, but only if we pay attention to who needs what and when. So we ask, we watch, and we adjust rather than running everyone through the same timetable. Practically, we help with personal care, medication, meals and mobility, and we support people to keep up whatever they can still do for themselves, because losing that is often what people fear most about moving into a home. The building and the garden are there to be used, and visitors are welcome at any reasonable hour. Respite stays give a carer at home a genuine rest, and they let someone try the place without committing to it. Please ring us if you would like to come and look round.

Sycamores is a residential care home in Leamington Spa. We support older people and younger adults with a wide range of needs, including dementia, learning disability and autism, mental health conditions, physical disabilities and loss of sight or hearing. We offer respite stays alongside permanent places. Supporting people with such different needs under one roof depends on planning properly around the individual. Before somebody moves in we spend time learning how they like to live, what they manage for themselves, what they find difficult and what they want from us, and that becomes the plan rather than something written to a formula. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We would rather say that openly than have anyone find it out later. We have gone through what the inspection identified, in particular how we plan, record and review care and how consistently our staff are supported to work, and we are happy to talk through the detail with anyone considering a place here. People here keep their own belongings, run their own routines as far as they can, and are supported to get out into Leamington and to keep up with family and friends. Where a person communicates differently, we learn how, and we make sure the whole team does the same. If you would like an honest conversation about where we are, please call and come and see us.

    • Care Home

James Hirons is a residential care home in Leamington Spa for older people who need help with daily living. We support people with physical disabilities and people with sight or hearing loss, and we offer respite stays as well as permanent places. A good deal of our work lies in details that are easy to overlook. A room arranged so that somebody can manage it independently. Lighting, contrast and clear signs. A hearing aid that has been checked and is actually working, because a conversation somebody cannot follow is worse than no conversation at all. Equipment within reach, so that moving about does not mean waiting for help. None of it is dramatic and all of it decides whether a day goes well. Beyond that we try to keep life ordinary. People choose their own routines, keep their own things around them, eat food cooked here with real choice at each meal, and have company or quiet as they prefer. Help with washing, dressing and mobility is given at the person's own pace and recorded carefully so that it happens the same way whoever is on duty. We would rather support somebody to do a thing slowly than do it for them quickly. Families are welcome whenever suits them and we would rather see you often and informally than formally. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated the home good overall.

    • Care Home

Long Lea Residential Home is in Nuneaton and we provide residential care for adults with a wide range of needs. Most of the people who live here are older, some are younger adults, and between them they bring dementia, mental health conditions, physical disability and sensory impairment through the door. We are used to all of it. What holds that together is attention to the individual. We find out how somebody likes to be woken, what they eat, what they will not eat, whether they want company or quiet, and who they want us to ring when something happens. That information is not a formality for us, it is how the care actually gets delivered. For people living with dementia we keep the day predictable and the faces familiar. For residents whose sight or hearing is impaired we keep belongings where they expect them and take care over how we approach and speak. For people with a physical disability we take the time that moving safely and comfortably requires. Respite stays are available, whether for a planned break for a family carer or for a period of recovery after illness. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Families across Warwickshire are welcome to come and see the home, meet the team and ask us whatever they want to know.

Field View Residential Home is in Redditch. We care for older people and younger adults, including many residents living with dementia, people managing mental health conditions, people with a physical disability and people with a visual or hearing impairment. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places. As a residential setting our work is daily life supported well, with general practitioners, district nurses and other community professionals involved when they are needed. What we aim for is a house where people are known rather than managed. That sounds obvious and it takes discipline, because the pressures of a rota pull the other way. It means unrushed help with washing and dressing, medication given reliably, food worth looking forward to and staff who notice when a resident is quieter than usual. For people living with dementia we keep the routine predictable and the faces familiar, and we ask relatives for the details of a life that no assessment captures. Where sight or hearing is poor we check that aids are working and adapt how we communicate, because a sensory impairment can quietly push someone to the edge of a home's life. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.

Russell Terrace is a residential care home in Leamington Spa, run by Turning Point, supporting older people and younger adults, including adults with a learning disability and autistic people. We think of ourselves as a household rather than a service. The people who live here have their own preferences, routines and plans, and our role is to make those workable. Residents have a real say in how the house is run, what we eat, how their own support is provided and how they spend their time. Support is planned with each person, in a way they can take part in, and reviewed as things change. We pay close attention to how someone communicates and to what helps when a day becomes difficult, because knowing that in advance is worth far more than working it out afterwards. Consistent staff, a predictable routine and respect for sensory needs matter a great deal here. We encourage people to stay connected to Leamington and to the things that matter to them, whether that is family and friends, a job or course, a club, faith, or simply going out and choosing what to do. We also offer respite stays. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good, and you are welcome to come and see us.

Before somebody moves in we ask how they have always run their day, what they want help with and what they would much rather do themselves, and we write it down so that staff follow the person rather than a house routine. Help with washing, dressing, mobility and medication is given discreetly and at the time that suits. For people living with dementia we keep the day familiar and unhurried and we use what families tell us about the life behind the person. Somebody who wants a sociable, busy day and somebody who needs quiet and an entirely predictable routine can both live well here, provided we pay attention to who needs what and when. So we ask, we observe, and we adapt rather than running everyone to the same timetable. • Care Home

The Stables Residential Care Home is a residential care home in Nuneaton, Warwickshire. We support older people and younger adults who need help with the everyday business of living, and we offer respite care for planned short stays. Some of the people who move in need only a steadying hand with washing, dressing and medication. Others need a good deal more. Either way the purpose is the same: to lift the daily worry so that the rest of life can carry on properly. Before someone arrives we spend time with them and with the people who know them best, because the small details are what decide how quickly a person settles. How they take their tea, whether they are early risers, what they did for a living, who they want to hear from. After that, the day belongs to the resident. People choose when to get up, what to eat, where to sit and how much company they want. Meals are proper meals and we take note of what people genuinely enjoy rather than what is easiest to cook. Company and activity are offered rather than imposed, and somebody who wants a quiet afternoon with the paper is not a problem to be solved. Because we support younger adults as well as older residents, we are careful not to run the house as though everybody wants the same things. Respite stays are planned with the same care as a permanent move, whether a family carer needs a break or a household wants to try the home first. Visitors are welcome. Please contact us if you would like to look round.

Arden House is a residential care home in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire. We provide a home for older people, including those living with dementia, people with a physical disability, people with sight or hearing loss and people managing mental health conditions. Respite stays are available for shorter periods. What we aim to offer is a settled, familiar place where people keep their own routines and their own things around them. We ask about preferences in detail, because how somebody likes their morning to go is not a small matter when it shapes the rest of their day. Residents decide how much company they want and how much time to themselves, and we try to make both genuinely possible rather than simply offering the choice on paper. We should be straightforward about where we stand. Our most recent overall judgement from the Care Quality Commission was that we require improvement. We accepted the findings rather than arguing with them, we have a plan of work in place and we are progressing it alongside colleagues in health and the local authority. Families deserve to hear that from us directly rather than discovering it later. If you are considering Arden House for someone you love, please come and visit. Look at the home properly, speak to our staff and the people living here, and ask us exactly what the concerns were and what we have changed since. Those are the right questions to put to any home, and we will answer them plainly rather than steering you towards a brochure.

We are Woodville House, a residential care home in Rugby. We care for older people, including many living with dementia, people with a physical disability, and people with a visual or hearing impairment. What we provide is residential care rather than nursing care, and we are straightforward with families about the difference so that nobody moves in somewhere unable to meet their needs. Within it, we help with washing, dressing and getting about safely, support people with medication, provide proper meals and make sure nobody is left alone all day unless that is what they prefer. The home is run around the people living in it. Nobody is woken to suit a rota, mealtimes bend around the person, and how somebody spends the day is their own business. Dementia care here rests on knowing the individual. We learn about the work somebody did, the family they raised and the routines that steady them, and we use that rather than correcting anybody about the present. Where a person has a visual or hearing impairment, we make sure every member of staff knows how they prefer to be approached. We keep families in the picture, ring early when concerned, and welcome visitors whenever they want to come. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places. Our most recent CQC overall rating is good. Please get in touch to look round.

We are a residential care home on Station Road in Tamworth, part of the Polesworth Group. The people living here include older people and younger adults, and people with a learning disability or autism. We also offer respite stays, which can give a family carer a genuine break. This is somebody's home before it is anything else, and we try hard to run it that way. People have their own rooms, their own routines and a real say in how their days go. Support here is about making ordinary things possible rather than doing them for people. Cooking a meal you actually want. Doing your own shopping. Managing money and appointments. Getting to a club, a course or a job. Keeping in touch with family and friends. We pay attention to that distinction, because independence is quietly worn away by help that arrives too quickly. Communication matters a great deal to us. Not everybody here uses many words, and understanding somebody properly takes time, attention and a willingness to be corrected rather than assumptions. Plans are written with the person, reviewed honestly and changed when they stop fitting. We work alongside families and with social work and health colleagues so that support is joined up. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We keep examining our practice around choice and privacy. If you are considering a place or a respite stay with us, please come and visit and meet the people who live here.

    • Care Home

Thurlaston Meadows Care Home is a care home near Rugby. We provide residential care for older people, and we support people living with dementia, people with a physical disability and people with a visual or hearing impairment. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places. Getting outside is something we take seriously rather than treat as weather permitting. A walk, a seat in the fresh air or simply a change of view does more for somebody's mood, appetite and sleep than most of what can be organised indoors. Nobody here should spend the day in the same chair because taking them out would have been an effort, and equally nobody should be marched into the garden who would rather be left in peace. Indoors, the day belongs to the residents. They decide when to get up, what to eat and how much company they want. Rooms belong to the people in them, and visitors come when it suits them. Where sight or hearing has failed, we say who has come into the room, describe what is happening and keep belongings where the person expects them. Small habits, but they decide whether somebody feels part of things. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please come and look round if you are considering care in this part of Warwickshire.

    • Care Home

We at Romsey / Winchester Avenue are a residential care home rooted in the community of Nuneaton, offering personalised residential care for older people, younger adults, and those living with mental health needs across Warwickshire and the wider West Midlands. Set within a familiar and welcoming corner of Nuneaton, our home benefits from the calm of a residential neighbourhood whilst remaining close to local amenities within the CV postcode area. The setting has been thoughtfully arranged to feel homely and reassuring, providing residents with comfortable communal spaces to socialise as well as quieter areas for reflection, reading, or spending time with visiting loved ones. Warwickshire's mix of green spaces and community life means families can visit easily and enjoy time together in a place that feels genuinely part of the town. Our care is shaped around the individual. As a home supporting older person care, residential care, mental health, younger adults, and respite care, we understand that no two residents arrive with the same story or the same needs. For older residents, this means compassionate day to day support with the routines of daily living, delivered with dignity and patience. For younger adults and those living with mental health conditions, it means a considered approach that promotes independence, emotional wellbeing, and meaningful daily engagement. Our respite offering provides families and regular carers with the reassurance of a trusted place their loved one can stay for a shorter period, whether that is following a hospital stay, during a family holiday, or simply to allow a break with complete peace of mind. In practice, this breadth of specialism means we take time to get to know each person: their history, their preferences, the small things that bring comfort, and the goals they still hold for themselves. Families are treated as partners in care, kept informed and involved, and welcomed as an important part of the wider community within the home. We want to be open and straightforward about our most recent Care Quality Commission inspection, carried out in May 2023, which gave us an overall rating of Requires Improvement. Within that inspection, we were rated Good for being Effective, Caring, and Responsive, reflecting the warmth of our team, the quality of the relationships we build with residents, and the way we tailor care to individual needs. The areas identified for improvement related to Safe and Well led, and we take those findings seriously. They give us a clear focus for strengthening our practice, leadership, and oversight so that every aspect of life here meets the standard our residents and their families rightly expect. We believe transparency about where we are today, alongside our commitment to continuous improvement, is the honest foundation on which trust is built. If you are exploring care options in Nuneaton for a parent, partner, relative, or friend, we understand how significant this decision feels. It is rarely just about finding a room; it is about finding somewhere that feels safe, kind, and right. We warmly invite you to get in touch, ask any questions on your mind, and arrange a visit so you can experience the atmosphere of our home for yourself, meet our team, and picture what daily life here might look like for the person you love. Whether you are considering a permanent move or a short respite stay, we are here to listen and to help you take the next step with confidence.

We are a residential care home on Newtown Road in Nuneaton, supporting adults managing mental health conditions. Most of those living here are younger adults, and we also offer respite stays. Our work is less about doing things for people than about helping a life hold its shape. Getting up, eating properly, taking medication, having something in the week that belongs to the person rather than to their care. For many of those living here, mental ill health has made those ordinary rhythms hard to sustain alone, and a settled household of people who know you well is what makes them possible again. We are careful to keep this feeling like a home rather than a unit. People have their own space and their own routine, they come and go as adults, and they have a genuine say in how the place runs. Progress is uneven and does not follow a timetable, so we try to be steady rather than to push, and we do not treat a difficult week as a failure or a reason to give up on somebody. We have not yet been given an overall rating by the Care Quality Commission, and we would rather state that openly than write around it. Anyone considering us is welcome to visit, talk to the people who live here, and ask us whatever they want to ask.

We are a residential home in Tamworth supporting adults with learning disabilities and autistic people, including younger adults. The house runs as a household rather than an institution. Everyone has their own room and their own things, and the week is worked out between the people who live here and the staff supporting them: what is cooked, when the shopping is done, who wants to go out and where to. Those are small matters that add up to whether somebody feels at home or merely accommodated. Support is built around what each person wants to be able to do. For some that means a job, a college course or a regular volunteering day. For others it is getting out into the town, keeping up with family, managing money with a hand from staff, or learning to cook something new. We take the long view, since progress in this work is usually gradual and the gains that matter are often ones nobody outside the house would notice. Consistency counts for a great deal, particularly for autistic people, so we keep staffing as settled as we can and explain changes in advance rather than springing them on people. Respite stays are available alongside longer places. We do not yet hold an overall rating from the Care Quality Commission and are happy to discuss that openly. Please come and visit and meet the people who live here.

We are The Cedars in Bedworth, Warwickshire, a residential home supporting adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, older people and younger adults. We also offer respite stays for people who need a short break or whose families do. We want this to be a place where people continue to have their own lives rather than somewhere life is organised for them. Everybody has their own room and their own routine, decides how they spend their days, and is supported to keep up with family, friends and the things they enjoy in and around Bedworth. Where somebody wants to take on more for themselves, we work out the steps with them rather than making assumptions about what is realistic. Knowing people properly is the basis of all of it. We take time to learn how each person communicates, what they find difficult and what helps them recover from a bad day, and we make sure new staff understand it before working alone. Consistency of staffing matters more here than almost anything else we could offer. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We use it as a reference point and go on examining our own practice. If you are considering a placement in the Bedworth area, please arrange to visit, meet the people who live here and see how the house runs on an ordinary day.

Masons Road in Stratford Upon Avon, run by Turning Point, is a residential home for adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, most of them younger adults. We also offer respite stays. People live here for years rather than months, so we run the house as their household and think of ourselves as part of it. The people who live here decide how their rooms look, have a genuine say in what goes on the shopping list and what gets cooked, and shape the week around what they want to do. We would rather help somebody do a thing for themselves slowly than do it for them quickly, and that choice, made over and over, is most of what this home is. Support with personal care, medication, health appointments, money and getting about is given exactly as each person has agreed, and recorded in enough detail that a colleague new to a shift can get a morning right without being told. For anybody who finds change difficult, that consistency is the ground everything else stands on. Communication is where the real work lies. Not everybody here uses speech, and understanding how a person shows a preference, a worry or a refusal is what makes choice genuine rather than nominal. We learn each person's way, write it down, and check our understanding instead of assuming it. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall.

Burgess Care is a residential care home in Leamington Spa. We support older people and younger adults, including adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, and we offer respite stays. This is a house run with the people who live in it rather than around them. Residents choose how their rooms look, what they eat, how they spend their time and what part they play in the household. Cooking, shopping and laundry are things people do with support where they can, because independence grows out of doing things rather than being told about them. We plan support around what each person wants from their life rather than around a timetable that suits the rota. That might be help with cooking and managing money, support to keep a college place or a job, assistance to travel independently, or somebody alongside on a difficult day. For autistic people we pay close attention to sensory needs and give notice of change well in advance, because unexpected change is usually the hardest part. Communication takes different forms here and we learn each person's, whether speech, signing, pictures, objects or the particular way somebody shows they have had enough. Our staff are trained in positive behaviour support and we keep the team consistent so that people are supported by those who know them well. Respite guests are welcome to visit beforehand so the house is familiar when they arrive. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Glebe Road in Nuneaton is a residential home for adults with mental health needs, most of them younger adults, and we also offer respite stays. What we are for is helping people live settled, ordinary lives, and most of what that takes is not clinical. People here have their own rooms and make them their own, keep their own hours, come and go, and have a real say in what is bought and cooked. We encourage people to do as much for themselves as they want to, and to take on more when they are ready, because a house where everything is done for you is a house where confidence drains away. People tell us that steadiness and clear expectations help more than reassurance does, so we try to be predictable and straightforward. We are consistent about how the house runs, we say what we mean, and we do not pretend a difficulty is not there. Where somebody is unwell we act early and work with community mental health teams and GPs rather than in isolation. Support with medication, appointments, money and the practical running of a life is given as the person has agreed. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall.

We are the home at 1 Windmill Barns in Alcester, Warwickshire, supporting adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, people with physical disabilities and younger adults, alongside offering respite stays. Ours is a small setting and that is deliberate. It means the people who live here are supported by a team who know them thoroughly, and it means the house can run around the residents rather than around a rota. People choose how their rooms look, what goes on the shopping list, what happens during the week and who supports them with what. We take communication seriously. Not everyone here uses speech, and we learn each person's own ways of telling us what they want, what they are enjoying and what is bothering them. Support plans are built out of that understanding, and we keep checking that we have read a person correctly rather than settling on an interpretation and sticking to it. Support with personal care, medication, eating and drinking, and moving about safely is given as thoroughly as it is needed. Just as importantly, people take part in the ordinary running of the house, cooking, shopping and looking after their own space, at whatever level suits them. We also support people to get out into Alcester and the surrounding villages, to keep up with family and friends and to pursue the things they enjoy. Families, social workers and health colleagues are welcome to contact us at any time and to come and see how the house works.

Gildawood Court is a residential care home in Nuneaton, Warwickshire. We provide care for older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia, and we offer respite stays alongside permanent places. Our aim is that this feels like somewhere people live rather than somewhere they have been put. Residents bring their own belongings, keep their own routines and decide how the day goes. We provide help with washing, dressing, medication, meals and getting about, and we are careful to give only as much as is wanted, because doing too much for somebody erodes independence just as surely as doing too little neglects it. Dementia care is a large part of our work. We take time to learn each person's history, their habits and the things that reassure them, because that knowledge is what allows staff to respond to the feeling behind a difficult moment rather than simply to the behaviour in front of them. Familiar faces, a calm environment and a predictable rhythm do most of the rest, and families often tell us it is the ordinary details that count. Respite stays get the same planning and attention as any other admission, whether they are giving a family carer a genuine break or supporting somebody after a spell in hospital. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. You are very welcome to visit Gildawood Court and see the home as it ordinarily is.

Hancox Close is a residential care home in Leamington Spa supporting adults with a learning disability and autistic adults, including younger adults, alongside older people who need residential care. Our approach does not change from one person to the next. We take time to learn how somebody communicates, what a good day looks like for them and what tends to make a difficult one, and then we build their support around that rather than fitting everybody into the same routine. Where a person can take on more for themselves, whether that is helping with meals, looking after their own room or getting out locally, we make room for it rather than stepping in out of habit. Life here runs around the people who live in the house. People get up when they are ready, spend their time on things they genuinely enjoy and keep their own belongings and routines around them. Respite stays are available too, for people who need support for a short period and for family carers who need a proper break. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. The measure we trust more is whether people here look at ease and whether relatives feel welcome to drop in and ask anything.

We look after residents living with dementia, residents with mental health needs, and residents with a physical disability or a visual or hearing impairment, and we offer respite stays alongside permanent places. We should be straightforward about where we currently stand. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is Requires Improvement. We would rather set that out plainly than leave a family to find it elsewhere and wonder what else we had chosen not to say. We understand what was identified, we are working through it, and we will discuss the detail with anyone who asks. What we are working towards is what a residential home should always rest on. Residents known properly as individuals rather than looked after as a group. A routine that belongs to the person rather than to the building. Staff settled enough that familiarity is real, which is what dementia care and mental health support both depend on. Accurate records and prompt, honest reporting when something goes wrong. The people living here remain our first concern throughout, and their families are entitled to honesty from us about the problems as well as the progress. If you are considering a place for a relative, come and visit, ask us hard questions, and judge the home on what you find.

We are The Chimneys Residential Care Home in Rugby, Warwickshire. We look after older people, including those living with dementia, people with physical disabilities and people with a visual or hearing impairment, and we also support adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults. Respite stays are available. We aim for something domestic rather than institutional. People bring their own furniture and pictures, keep their own habits, and decide for themselves how their day runs. What time you wake, where you eat, whether you want company or would rather sit quietly: those are your decisions and they stay that way. For people living with dementia we work with the person as they are now. Knowing their history, recognising early what tends to unsettle them and having the patience to go at their pace prevents a lot of distress before it begins. Where access or communication need proper attention, they get it, so that those needs do not end up shaping the whole of somebody's day. Binley Woods is a residential care home near Coventry. We support adults with a learning disability, autistic adults and people with mental health needs, including younger adults, and we offer respite stays for those who need residential support for a short period. The house is run around the people who live in it. Everyone has a support plan written with them, in a form they can use, covering how they like to be supported, what they enjoy, what they find difficult and what they want their week to contain. Some people here want a clear structure and tell us plainly when it slips. Others prefer to please themselves. People go out into Coventry and the villages nearby, keep up college, work, clubs and family contact, and we treat that as the purpose of the place rather than something to fit in when staffing allows. Where somebody has mental health needs, we agree in advance what a difficult period looks like for them and what they want us to do, so nobody is improvising at the worst moment. Where somebody does not use speech, we learn how they do communicate and make sure the whole team knows. Any restriction on a person's freedom is agreed formally, recorded and reviewed. The Care Quality Commission rated us good overall at our most recent inspection. Families, advocates and commissioners are welcome to visit.

The Limes is a residential care home in Stratford upon Avon. We support older people and younger adults who need help with daily living, including people living with dementia, people living with a mental health condition, people with a physical disability and people with a visual or hearing impairment. We also take respite bookings. Because people come to us by different routes, we do not run the home to a single pattern. Some residents need a good deal of hands on support through the day. Others mainly want a settled base, a bit of structure and somebody reliable to check in with. We work out which is which by asking, and we keep asking, because what somebody needs on arrival is rarely what they need a year later. People keep their own belongings around them, choose how the day goes and are not hurried through the parts that take longer than they once did. Families are welcome throughout the day and we would rather they came often and informally than waited for an invitation. Supporting somebody living with dementia takes patience and attention to detail, so our staff learn the particulars that help each person feel secure. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. If you are considering residential or respite care in Warwickshire, please arrange to come and see us.

We are Attleborough Grange, a residential care home in Nuneaton, Warwickshire. We support older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia, people living with mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities and people with a visual or hearing impairment. Respite stays are available. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement, and we are not going to write around it. We have looked closely at what the inspection found, changed how care is planned, recorded and reviewed, and strengthened the training and supervision of our staff. Our progress is being monitored, and we tell relatives the same things we tell the regulator. That is a wide range of needs under one roof, and it only works if we plan around individuals rather than running one routine for everyone. Somebody who wants a busy, sociable day and somebody who needs quiet and a predictable rhythm can both live well here, provided we pay proper attention to who needs what. For people living with dementia, the useful work is in the detail: knowing a person's history and going at their pace. If you are considering us for someone, please come and see the home and ask about the rating directly. We will answer fully rather than reassuringly.

    • Care Home

Mill Green is a care home in Rugby, Warwickshire. We provide residential care to a mixed group of adults, from older people, including many living with dementia, to younger adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, people with mental health needs, people with physical disabilities and people with a visual or hearing impairment. We also support people affected by alcohol or drug misuse, and we offer respite stays. Supporting that range of people well means resisting the temptation to run everything the same way. Some residents want structure, others want to be left to their own devices. Some are here for the rest of their lives, others for a few weeks while they get back on their feet or while a family carer rests. We plan with each person individually and we are honest when we think we are not the right place for someone. What we hold in common is straightforward. People decide how their own day runs. Privacy is respected. Personal care is given with dignity and without fuss. Health needs are picked up early through our own observation and through good working relationships with GPs and community teams. Distress is treated as something to understand rather than something to suppress. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. If you are considering Mill Green for yourself or a relative, please come and visit, ask us awkward questions and talk to the people who already live here.

Bilton House is a residential care home in Rugby, Warwickshire, providing care for older people, including people living with dementia. We also offer respite stays for people who need care for a few weeks. We try to run the home the way a household runs. People get up when they wake, eat what they like, sit where they choose and keep the habits of a lifetime. Help with washing, dressing, medication and moving about is given as and when it is needed, without fuss and without taking over. Good dementia care depends far less on equipment than on knowledge and time. Our team learn each resident's story, their family, their working life and their worries, and they use that every day. A person who is anxious or agitated is telling us something, and it is our job to work out what. Families are part of the home here. We encourage relatives to visit when it suits them, and we keep in contact about health and mood rather than only ringing when something has gone wrong. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you are looking at residential care in Rugby, please arrange to come in, meet the team and see the place on an ordinary afternoon. That tells you more than any brochure.

    • Care Home

At Fairfield, we provide residential care for a wide range of individuals in the heart of Coventry, Warwickshire. Our home supports older adults, people living with dementia, those with mental health needs, physical disabilities, and visual or hearing impairments. We also welcome younger adults and offer respite care for those who need a short break or a period of recovery. We understand that choosing a care home is one of the most significant decisions a person and their family will ever make. We do not take that lightly. From the moment someone walks through our doors, we want them to feel at ease, respected, and genuinely listened to. Care here is built around the individual, not a routine that suits the home. For those living with dementia, we take particular care to create an environment that feels familiar and calm. We work closely with residents and their families to understand the person behind the diagnosis, their history, their preferences, and what brings them comfort and joy. Our team is experienced, caring, and consistent. We work hard to keep familiarity at the heart of daily life, because we know that trust is built over time and through small moments, not grand gestures. We are pleased that our most recent Care Quality Commission inspection rated us as good, and we continue to reflect on how we can improve and grow. That rating matters to us, but what matters more is that the people living here feel safe, valued, and at home. Whether someone is joining us for a short respite stay or making Fairfield their permanent home, we aim to offer the same warmth, attentiveness, and respect. If you would like to come and have a look around and ask us questions, we would always welcome the visit.

    • Care Home

Albemarle Rest Home is a residential care home in Leamington Spa. We are home to older people who need support with daily life, including many living with dementia, and we welcome people for respite stays, whether to recover after illness or to give a family carer a proper break. We are small enough for everyone here to be known properly, and that shapes everything else. Our team notices when somebody eats less than usual, sleeps badly, seems low or becomes unsteady, and it gets acted on the same day rather than at a review in a month. Residents run their own days. When to get up, what to eat, whether to sit with others in the lounge or keep to their own room with their own things around them. Rooms hold people's own furniture and photographs, and nobody comes in without knocking. Visitors are welcome at any reasonable hour. For residents living with dementia, consistency helps more than anything else we can offer. We keep staffing settled, learn each person's history properly and use it to make sense of what they are telling us, and when somebody is distressed we look for the reason rather than trying to close it down. Health needs are managed alongside local GPs and community nurses. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. Please come and look round.

We are Fourways, a residential care home in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire. We support older people and younger adults, including those living with dementia, people with a mental health condition, people with a physical disability and people with a visual or hearing impairment, and we offer respite stays. With that range of needs in one home, support has to be planned person by person. We take time at the start to work out how somebody communicates, what they manage on their own, where they want help and what they would rather nobody did for them, and we change the plan when it stops describing reality. Where dementia and a sensory impairment occur together, which happens often, we check the simple explanation first. A hearing aid that is not working accounts for a great deal that would otherwise be recorded as confusion, and a room somebody cannot make sense of will unsettle anyone. Where a mental health condition is part of the picture, the same principles apply: consistency, staff who do not take a difficult day personally, and a routine that is there to lean on rather than to enforce. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.

    • Care Home

Four Gables is a residential care home near Stratford Upon Avon providing a home for a varied group of people: older adults, younger adults, adults with learning disabilities, autistic adults, people living with dementia, people with physical disabilities, people with loss of sight or hearing, and people living with mental health conditions. That range works because support is built around the individual rather than around a category. One person may need help with almost every part of the day and another may need hardly any, and both live here on the same terms. We ask each person what a good day looks like for them, write it down in a way that makes sense to them, and change it when they say so. Communication gets close attention. We use speech, signing, symbols, objects and plain familiarity, whatever suits the person, because otherwise choice is something people are told about rather than something they exercise. People here are supported to get out to work, college, clubs and family, and to be as involved in the running of the house as they want to be. Short respite stays are available alongside permanent places. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good, and we would be glad to show you round.

    • Care Home

Merevale House is a residential care home in Atherstone, Warwickshire. We provide residential care for adults who can no longer manage on their own, and a large part of our work is caring for people living with dementia. We are not a nursing home, and it is worth being clear about that. What we offer is residential care: help with washing and dressing, medication given on time, meals cooked here, laundry done, and staff on duty through the night as well as the day. Doctors and district nurses come in when clinical care is needed. For a great many people this is exactly the right level of support, and it takes far less from their independence than a clinical setting would. Dementia asks something particular of a home. It asks for a day that runs in a familiar order, for surroundings that are easy to make sense of, and for staff who do not correct or argue but go where the person is. We take time to learn about somebody's working life, family and habits, because that is what allows us to understand them when words begin to fail. Respite and short stays are available, whether for a planned break or for recovery. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. You are welcome to visit Merevale House and see the place for yourself.

We are a residential care home in Evesham, offering a settled home to older people who need support with daily life, including people living with dementia. We also take respite bookings, whether planned ahead so a family carer can have a proper break or arranged more quickly when somebody needs care for a while. We try to run the place at the pace of the people who live in it rather than at the pace of a rota. People get up when they are ready, eat what they actually want and spend the day in whatever way suits them. Some want company and something going on, others would rather sit quietly with a paper, and neither needs justifying to us. Dementia asks something particular of a care home. Familiar faces, a day that does not change shape without warning, and staff who can tell the difference between somebody being difficult and somebody being frightened or in pain. That understanding comes from knowing a person well, which is why keeping our team together matters so much to us. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Families are welcome here and we would always rather you came and looked round than took our word for anything. Please contact us and we will find a time for you to visit and meet some of the people who live here.

Lupin House is a residential care home in Nuneaton, Warwickshire. We support older people and younger adults, including people with a learning disability and people who are autistic, and we offer respite stays as well as permanent places. The people who live here are known as individuals, and support is worked out person by person rather than around a house routine. The week belongs to the person, whether that means a job, a course, volunteering, regular time with family, a favourite trip out or a quiet routine that nobody interferes with. Our team learns how each person communicates, including those who do not use speech. That means paying attention to gesture, expression and behaviour, and being willing to be corrected when we have misread something. When somebody becomes distressed we look for the cause rather than trying to manage the behaviour. People choose their own food, keep their own space and habits, and are supported to do as much for themselves as they want to. Help with personal care and medication is given discreetly and in the way each person prefers. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Here at Linden Grange, we offer a warm and homely environment where older people in Nuneaton and across Warwickshire can feel genuinely at ease. We provide residential care, dementia care and respite care, and our team works hard every day to make sure each person who lives with us feels known, respected and well looked after. We understand that choosing a care home is one of the most significant decisions a family can make, and we do not take that trust lightly. From the moment someone comes through our doors, whether for a short respite stay or as a longer term home, we take the time to understand who they are, what matters to them and how they like their days to look. Care here is genuinely shaped around the individual rather than the other way around. For those living with dementia, we know how important it is to feel safe and familiar in your surroundings. We work closely with residents and their families to create a sense of continuity and calm, supporting wellbeing in a way that feels natural and unhurried rather than clinical. Our respite care offers families the reassurance that their loved one is in good hands, whether that is for a few weeks of planned cover or during a period of unexpected change. We aim to make every respite stay feel as settled and comfortable as a permanent arrangement. We are proud that our most recent Care Quality Commission inspection rated us as Good, and we see that as a reflection of the everyday effort our team puts in rather than simply a certificate on the wall. Jubilee House Care Home is in Leamington Spa, providing residential care for older people from across Warwickshire, including many residents living with dementia. Respite stays are available too. What we are trying to run is a household rather than a facility. That means somebody can have a lie in, or a late supper, or a whole afternoon doing very little, without it being treated as a problem. Homes drift towards routines that suit the staffing rather than the residents, and pushing back against that drift is a piece of work we do every day rather than a policy we wrote once. For residents living with dementia, familiarity does most of the work that technique cannot. A day that runs in a recognisable order. Staff who do not change every few weeks. A room that looks like the person's own, with their own things in it. And a team that knows enough about somebody's life before they arrived to understand what they are really asking for. Leamington is a pleasant town to be out in and we make sure residents are, rather than watching it through a window. Respite stays give family carers a proper break and let people get to know us without committing to anything. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We are Greenways, a residential care home at Long Itchington caring for older people, including many who are living with dementia. Being out in the Warwickshire countryside suits the way we work. It is a quiet setting, the garden gets used properly in decent weather, and the pace of the place is unhurried in a way that matters a great deal to the people who live here. What we provide is residential care rather than nursing care, and we say so clearly to families at the outset. Within it, we help with washing, dressing and moving about safely, support people with medication, provide proper meals and make sure nobody is left alone all day unless that is their preference. Dementia care takes patience and it takes knowing the person. We spend time learning about the work somebody did, the family they raised and the routines that settle them, and we do not argue with anybody about what year it is. We meet people where they are and find something good to do together. We keep families informed and would far rather ring early about a small worry. Visitors are welcome whenever suits them. Haywood Lodge provides residential care in Studley for older people, including people living with dementia, people with mental health needs and people who have sight or hearing loss. We also take planned respite stays. We try to make this feel like a home rather than somewhere people have been placed. Residents get up when they want, spend their days as they choose, keep their own belongings about them and have visitors whenever it suits them. Our staff help with personal care, medicines, meals and the practical running of the place, and they do it in a way that leaves people as much say as possible over their own lives. The small things are what residents notice. A familiar face on shift, tea made the way you like it, being asked rather than told, and somebody spotting that you are not quite yourself today. For residents living with dementia, and for anybody with sight or hearing loss, that familiarity matters far more than any programme of organised activity. For residents with mental health needs, consistency and a lack of fuss count for a great deal. Respite stays give family carers a genuine rest, and they let somebody find out what we are like before making a bigger decision. We support older people and younger adults, including those living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, people managing a mental health condition, people with a physical disability and people with a visual or hearing impairment, and we offer respite stays. With that mix of needs in one home, support has to be planned person by person rather than run to a single routine. We spend real time at the start learning how somebody communicates, what they manage on their own, where they want help and what they would rather nobody did for them. Communication is where a lot of the work sits. We find out how a person makes themselves understood, use that method consistently, and check we have actually been understood rather than assuming it. Predictability does much of the rest, along with familiar staff and routines we protect rather than ask people to be flexible about. We support adults with learning disabilities, autistic adults, people managing a mental health condition, people with a physical disability and people with a visual or hearing impairment, including younger adults, and we offer respite stays. The people we support have needs that overlap in ways the usual categories do not capture. Somebody may have a learning disability, find the physical environment difficult and be managing a mental health condition as well, and support that addresses only one of those will not hold up for long. So we plan around the person and take the time to find out what genuinely helps on a good day and on a hard one. Communication is where we start. We are Highfield, a residential care home in Tamworth. We support older people and younger adults, including adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, and we offer respite stays as well as permanent places. Having people of different ages and very different needs living together works only if support is planned around individuals. We spend proper time at the start finding out how somebody communicates, what they manage on their own, where they want help and what they would rather nobody touched, and we write that down and change it when it stops describing reality. Predictability matters a great deal, particularly for autistic people. Saying what will happen and when, and then being right about it, is worth more than reassurance. Where a routine is important to somebody we protect it rather than asking them to be flexible for our convenience. Choice runs through the day as far as it can, and where a decision needs support we give the support rather than making the decision. Families and advocates are involved as much as the person wants. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.

    • Care Home

Lutterworth Road is a small residential care home in Nuneaton, Warwickshire, supporting younger adults. Being small is the point of the place. With only a few people living here, staff know everybody properly rather than knowing a file about them, the week can be built around individuals rather than a rota, and somebody who needs quiet is actually able to find some. It also means the people who live here have real influence over how the house runs, from what gets cooked to how the shared rooms look and who comes to visit. The people we support are adults, and we support them to live as adults do, with choices about their day, their room, their money and their company, and with help where help is genuinely needed. We work with people on the practical skills that widen their options, and we take change at a pace they can manage rather than one that suits a review date. Respite stays are available for short periods of support or to give a family carer a planned break. We are registered with the Care Quality Commission and have not yet been given an overall rating. We say so plainly and welcome visits.

    • Care Home

Beaman House is a residential care home in Nuneaton supporting adults who have a learning disability and adults who are autistic. The people who live here run their own lives rather than being patients in somebody else's building, and the support we provide is meant to make that possible. For some people it is help with personal care and everyday tasks. For others it is support to manage money, appointments and correspondence. For others again it is mainly having someone steady nearby while they get on with work, college or volunteering. We help where help is wanted and step back where it is not. For autistic people in particular, the small things carry a great deal of weight. We keep routines predictable, we give notice before anything changes, we pay attention to noise, light and busyness in shared areas and we learn how each person prefers to be communicated with. Where somebody becomes distressed, we look at what caused it rather than treating the distress itself as the problem. Respite stays are available, giving families a planned break and giving a person the chance to get to know us first. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. • Care Home

Lower Meadow is a residential care home in Stratford upon Avon. We are home to older people, including many living with dementia, people with physical disabilities and people living with sight or hearing loss, and we support younger adults as well. Respite stays are part of what we do. A home is judged by its worst shift rather than its best, so that is where we put our effort. Enough staff on at night. Somebody who knows a resident well on every shift, not just the busy ones. Handovers that pass on what actually matters rather than what fits the form. For residents living with dementia we hold the routine steady and learn the life behind the person. Knowing that somebody ran a shop, or taught, or lost a brother young, changes what we can say when they are distressed. Where a person's sight or hearing has gone, we agree how we will make ourselves known and we stick to it. Walking in and talking is a small discourtesy that makes the whole encounter harder. The Care Quality Commission rates us good overall. The sharper question is whether somebody who has lived here a year still feels at home, and we ask it.

Arranging and funding a care home place in Warwickshire

A care home registered for residential care provides somewhere to live together with personal care, which covers help with washing, dressing, meals, medication and the ordinary business of a day. Understanding what that registration does and does not include is the first thing to get straight.

Where the registration ends

Residential registration does not extend to nursing care delivered on the premises, so a home in this category cannot employ registered nurses to manage wounds, complex medication or a condition needing clinical oversight. District nurses may still visit, as they would in any private house. If needs are likely to become clinical, ask each home directly what would happen, because the answer may be a further move.

Using the inspection findings

Because ratings across these homes include Outstanding, Good and Requires Improvement, with some services not yet rated, the summary word alone will not separate them. Open the report and read the key questions individually, since a home can be caring and safe yet weaker on leadership or responsiveness. Note when the visit took place. A home rated below Good should be able to describe precisely what has changed and offer evidence for it, and one without any rating should be able to explain when it registered.

What to watch for on a visit

Visit twice, at different hours, and include a mealtime if you can. Watch how staff speak to residents nobody is currently attending to, whether people look comfortable and dressed as they would choose, and whether the afternoon has any shape. Ask how many carers are on duty overnight, how much agency cover is used, and how long the manager has been in post. Stable leadership tends to explain most of what you can see around you.

Choosing between care homes in Warwickshire

Two separate processes decide whether residential care is appropriate and who pays for it. They are frequently confused, and keeping them distinct makes the whole exercise clearer.

The care needs assessment

Any adult who appears to need care and support can request an assessment, which is free and carries no financial test. It examines personal care, mobility, memory, safety and the amount of informal help already in place, then records which needs are eligible. Relatives, GPs and hospital discharge teams can all make the referral. Warwickshire County Council adult social care completes the assessment and sets out what any placement would need to deliver.

How the fees are met

A financial assessment compares capital and income with the national thresholds. Above the upper capital limit a person pays the full fee, and below it the council contributes while the resident pays a share from income. Property is disregarded in defined circumstances, including where a spouse or dependent relative still lives there, and deferred payment agreements can cover fees while a house is sold. Where a family chooses a home above the council rate, a third party top up may be required and should be confirmed in writing.

Checking the contract

Before agreeing a place, read the terms on notice periods, fee review dates and what happens if needs increase beyond the registration. Ask whether a room is held during a hospital admission and on what terms. A trial stay, where one is offered, answers questions that comparison on paper never will.

Frequently asked questions about care homes in Warwickshire

Which care homes in Warwickshire are shown on this page?

One hundred and sixteen homes registered with the Care Quality Commission for residential care are listed. They range from small homes with a handful of rooms to larger purpose built settings, and include independent operators as well as homes within national groups. Because registration categories differ, it is worth checking whether a home can also provide nursing before adding it to a shortlist. Each profile records the registration details and the outcome of the most recent inspection.

What should I ask when visiting a care home in Warwickshire?

Ask how many staff are on duty during the day and overnight, and how long the current team has been in place. Find out who writes the care plan, how often it is reviewed and how the home keeps families informed when something changes. Questions about meals, choice at breakfast and how a quiet weekend passes reveal a good deal about daily life. Ask directly what the home would do if a resident's needs moved beyond what its registration allows.

What is the difference between a care home and a nursing home?

A residential care home provides accommodation with personal care, meaning help with washing, dressing, meals and daily routine. A nursing home holds an additional registration permitting registered nurses to deliver clinical care on the premises, which is necessary for wound management, complex medication or close monitoring of a health condition. Homes registered for both can usually continue supporting a resident whose health declines. The care needs assessment determines which level of registration is required.

Will Warwickshire County Council pay for a care home place?

It may, where the needs assessment supports residential care and the financial assessment shows capital below the national threshold. The council then meets part of the weekly fee while the resident contributes from income such as pensions and benefits. How a property is treated depends on the circumstances, particularly whether a spouse or dependent relative continues to live in it. Families should ask about deferred payment agreements before selling a house, since these can meet fees in the meantime.

How do I arrange a care needs assessment in Warwickshire?

Contact the adult social care team at Warwickshire County Council and set out what has changed and why residential care is being considered. The request can come from the person themselves, from someone acting on their behalf, or from a professional such as a GP or hospital discharge coordinator. The assessment is free and does not depend on income or savings. Preparing recent, specific examples of difficulties at home gives the assessor a much firmer basis for their judgement.

How early should the search for a care home begin?

Begin before the decision becomes urgent, because well regarded homes often keep waiting lists and rooms do not appear on demand. An early start allows repeat visits, careful reading of inspection reports and time to resolve funding questions calmly. Where a hospital discharge is driving the timetable, ask for the social work team to be involved as soon as possible. Decisions made under pressure in a single afternoon are the ones families most often wish they could take again.
