- Care Home
People in Action at Old Hinckley Road is a residential care setting in Nuneaton supporting a broad mix of people. We care for older people, including those living with dementia, and we also support adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, people managing mental health conditions, people living with a physical disability and people with sight or hearing loss, including younger adults. That range works because our approach does not change from one person to another. We take time to learn how somebody communicates, what a good day looks like for them and what tends to make a difficult one, and then we build their support around that rather than fitting everybody into the same routine. Where a person can take on more for themselves, we make room for it rather than stepping in out of habit. Life here runs around the people who live in the house rather than around a timetable. Respite stays are available too, for people who need support for a short period and for family carers who need a break. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. The measure we trust more is whether people here look at ease and whether relatives feel welcome to drop in and ask anything.

- Care Home
136 Manor Court Road is a care home in Nuneaton, run by People in Action. We provide residential care for older people and younger adults, and we support adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, people living with dementia, people with a physical disability and people with a visual or hearing impairment. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places. Supporting that range of people under one roof works only if nobody is treated as a category. What a younger autistic adult wants from a week bears almost no relation to what an older person living with dementia needs from it. So we sit down with each person, work out what their week should actually contain, and arrange staffing around that rather than the reverse. Communication takes the most effort and gets it. Where somebody does not use speech, we learn how they tell us things, and we treat behaviour as information rather than as a difficulty to be managed. Routines stay steady and changes are explained well in advance. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Families and social workers are welcome to visit, meet the people living here and ask whatever matters to them.

We are Attleborough Grange, a residential care home in Nuneaton, Warwickshire. We support older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia, people living with mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities and people with a visual or hearing impairment. Respite stays are available. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement, and we are not going to write around it. We have looked closely at what the inspection found, changed how care is planned, recorded and reviewed, and strengthened the training and supervision of our staff. Our progress is being monitored, and we tell relatives the same things we tell the regulator. That is a wide range of needs under one roof, and it only works if we plan around individuals rather than running one routine for everyone. Somebody who wants a busy, sociable day and somebody who needs quiet and a predictable rhythm can both live well here, provided we pay proper attention to who needs what. For people living with dementia, the useful work is in the detail: knowing a person's history and going at their pace. If you are considering us for someone, please come and see the home and ask about the rating directly. We will answer fully rather than reassuringly.

- Care Home
Gildawood Court is a residential care home in Nuneaton, Warwickshire. We provide care for older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia, and we offer respite stays alongside permanent places. Our aim is that this feels like somewhere people live rather than somewhere they have been put. Residents bring their own belongings, keep their own routines and decide how the day goes. We provide help with washing, dressing, medication, meals and getting about, and we are careful to give only as much as is wanted, because doing too much for somebody erodes independence just as surely as doing too little neglects it. Dementia care is a large part of our work. We take time to learn each person's history, their habits and the things that reassure them, because that knowledge is what allows staff to respond to the feeling behind a difficult moment rather than simply to the behaviour in front of them. Familiar faces, a calm environment and a predictable rhythm do most of the rest, and families often tell us it is the ordinary details that count. Respite stays get the same planning and attention as any other admission, whether they are giving a family carer a genuine break or supporting somebody after a spell in hospital. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. You are very welcome to visit Gildawood Court and see the home as it ordinarily is.

- Care Home
Holly Grange House is a residential care home in Nuneaton. We support older people and younger adults, and our experience covers dementia, physical disabilities, and sight and hearing loss. Respite stays are part of what we do. A good deal of our work lies in details that are easy to overlook. A room arranged so that somebody can manage it independently. Lighting, contrast and clear signs that make sense to a person with poor vision or with dementia. A hearing aid that has been checked and is actually working, because a conversation somebody cannot follow is worse than no conversation at all. Equipment within reach, so that moving about does not mean waiting for help. Beyond that we try to keep life ordinary. People choose their own routines, keep their own things around them, eat food cooked here with real choice at each meal, and have company or quiet as they prefer. Help with washing, dressing and mobility is given at the person's own pace and recorded carefully so it happens the same way whoever is on duty. With dementia we rely on knowing somebody well, so we gather a person's history with their family and keep adding to it. We are registered with and regulated by the Care Quality Commission, and anyone thinking about a move is welcome to visit and talk to the people who live here.

- Care Home
Acorn Lodge Care Home in Nuneaton provides residential care to older people and younger adults, including residents living with dementia and residents with a physical disability. We want people who move in to find that it becomes home before long, and that families can relax about the decision they have made. Much of that comes down to ordinary things done consistently. Getting up when you want to. Meals cooked here that people look forward to. Help with washing and dressing given calmly and with dignity. Enough support to move about safely without feeling hemmed in. Dementia care is a large part of our work. We keep the rhythm of the day predictable, give people time to answer, and spend real effort learning who a person has been. That history is usually what allows us to reach someone who is distressed, and it makes everyday conversation better too. Visitors are welcome here and we do not treat visiting as an interruption. Come and share a meal, join an activity, or take your relative out for the afternoon. We also provide respite care for shorter stays. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good, and we would be pleased to show you around.

- Care Home
Caldwell Grange is a residential care home in Nuneaton, Warwickshire. The people living here include older people, many of them living with dementia, along with younger adults, people with a physical disability and people with sight or hearing loss. Respite stays are available. Because our residents need quite different things from us, support is planned with each person rather than run to a single pattern. People keep their own rooms, their own belongings and their own routines, and they decide how much of the day to spend in company and how much on their own. We ask about the small preferences in detail and expect our staff to follow them, since those details are most of what makes a place feel like home. For residents living with dementia, consistency helps more than anything. Familiar staff, routines that change only when there is a reason, and the patience to understand what somebody means when words have become unreliable. Where people have sight or hearing loss we take particular care over how we communicate, so that nobody is left out of what is going on around them. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We take it as evidence that the everyday work is being done properly and we keep looking at the detail. If you are considering a care home in Nuneaton for someone close to you, you are welcome to visit and ask us anything you like.

- Care Home
Long Lea Residential Home is in Nuneaton and we provide residential care for adults with a wide range of needs. Most of the people who live here are older, some are younger adults, and between them they bring dementia, mental health conditions, physical disability and sensory impairment through the door. We are used to all of it. What holds that together is attention to the individual. We find out how somebody likes to be woken, what they eat, what they will not eat, whether they want company or quiet, and who they want us to ring when something happens. That information is not a formality for us, it is how the care actually gets delivered. For people living with dementia we keep the day predictable and the faces familiar. For residents whose sight or hearing is impaired we keep belongings where they expect them and take care over how we approach and speak. For people with a physical disability we take the time that moving safely and comfortably requires. Respite stays are available, whether for a planned break for a family carer or for a period of recovery after illness. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Families across Warwickshire are welcome to come and see the home, meet the team and ask us whatever they want to know.

- Care Home
Drayton Court is a residential care home in Nuneaton, supporting older adults and some younger adults. We look after residents living with dementia, residents with mental health needs, and residents with a physical disability or a visual or hearing impairment, and we offer respite stays alongside permanent places. We should be straightforward about where we currently stand. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is Requires Improvement. We would rather set that out plainly than leave a family to find it elsewhere and wonder what else we had chosen not to say. We understand what was identified, we are working through it, and we will discuss the detail with anyone who asks. What we are working towards is what a residential home should always rest on. Residents known properly as individuals rather than looked after as a group. A routine that belongs to the person rather than to the building. Staff settled enough that familiarity is real, which is what dementia care and mental health support both depend on. Accurate records and prompt, honest reporting when something goes wrong. The people living here remain our first concern throughout, and their families are entitled to honesty from us about the problems as well as the progress. If you are considering a place for a relative, come and visit, ask us hard questions, and judge the home on what you find.

- Care Home
Here at Linden Grange, we offer a warm and homely environment where older people in Nuneaton and across Warwickshire can feel genuinely at ease. We provide residential care, dementia care and respite care, and our team works hard every day to make sure each person who lives with us feels known, respected and well looked after. We understand that choosing a care home is one of the most significant decisions a family can make, and we do not take that trust lightly. From the moment someone comes through our doors, whether for a short respite stay or as a longer term home, we take the time to understand who they are, what matters to them and how they like their days to look. Care here is genuinely shaped around the individual rather than the other way around. For those living with dementia, we know how important it is to feel safe and familiar in your surroundings. We work closely with residents and their families to create a sense of continuity and calm, supporting wellbeing in a way that feels natural and unhurried rather than clinical. Our respite care offers families the reassurance that their loved one is in good hands, whether that is for a few weeks of planned cover or during a period of unexpected change. We aim to make every respite stay feel as settled and comfortable as a permanent arrangement. We are proud that our most recent Care Quality Commission inspection rated us as Good, and we see that as a reflection of the everyday effort our team puts in rather than simply a certificate on the wall. If you would like to find out more about life at Linden Grange or arrange a visit, we would be very happy to hear from you.

Arranging and funding a dementia care home place in Nuneaton
A dementia home tends to reveal itself in the half hour after lunch, when the tour has finished and the day settles into its real rhythm. That is when you can see whether staff know the residents, whether anybody is left calling out, and whether the atmosphere is calm or merely quiet.
What the ratings here actually show
Seven of the ten homes listed are rated Good, among them Acorn Lodge Care Home, Caldwell Grange, Long Lea Residential Home, Gildawood Court and Linden Grange. Two sit at Requires Improvement, and Holly Grange House Care Home has yet to be rated. A rating is a snapshot taken on particular days, so treat it as the beginning of your enquiry rather than the end of it. Where improvements were required, ask the manager what the inspector identified and what has demonstrably changed since.
Signs that dementia care runs deep
Staff turnover matters more than almost anything else, because somebody with dementia relies on familiarity rather than memory to feel safe. Ask how long the senior carers have been in post and how many agency shifts the home used last month. Look at whether residents can move about freely, whether there is accessible outdoor space, and whether the layout helps people find their own room without asking. Ask what training staff receive in supporting distress, and who in the home leads on it.
Questions that get past the sales pitch
Ask what the home does when a resident refuses personal care, and listen for an answer about finding the reason rather than persuading or deferring. Ask how many residents one carer supports after eight in the evening, and how falls and infections are reported to families. Ask whether residents who walk a great deal are accommodated or discouraged. Visiting twice, once unannounced and once at a mealtime, will tell you more than any brochure.
Choosing between dementia care homes in Nuneaton
The care needs assessment
Anybody who appears to need care and support is entitled to a free assessment of their needs, whatever their savings. You can request one from Warwickshire County Council adult social care, and the referral can equally come from a GP, a community nurse or a hospital discharge team. For dementia, describe the behaviour as well as the practical tasks, including night waking, leaving the house unaccompanied, distress at being washed or sudden weight loss, because those details decide whether residential care is the right setting. Ask for a carer's assessment at the same time if a relative has been carrying the load.
Who pays, and how much
A financial assessment follows, comparing income and capital against the national thresholds. Those above the upper limit normally pay the full fee, while those below may receive partial or full support. Where needs are primarily clinical rather than social, NHS continuing healthcare is assessed separately and can cover the whole cost. If the family prefers a home charging more than the council will pay, a third party contribution can sometimes bridge the gap, though it must be sustainable for years rather than months.
Cost in context
Dementia placements usually cost more than standard residential care because they require higher staffing and more training. Fees are quoted weekly, so check what falls outside them, such as chiropody, hairdressing and escorted hospital appointments. Ask how often fees are reviewed and what the last two increases were.
Frequently asked questions about dementia care homes in Nuneaton
How many dementia care homes are there in Nuneaton?
Nuneaton has 10 CQC registered care homes that are registered for dementia care, out of 24 CQC registered care homes in Nuneaton: 7 Good, 2 Requires improvement, 1 not yet rated. Counts come from the CQC register and are kept up to date as ratings change.
Which dementia care homes in Nuneaton were inspected most recently?
People in Action - Old Hinckley Road (16 July 2026), People in Action - 136 Manor Court Road (15 May 2026) and Linden Grange (4 November 2025) have the most recent CQC reports.
Which care homes in Nuneaton provide dementia care?
Ten residential care homes currently appear for dementia care in Nuneaton, including Acorn Lodge Care Home, Caldwell Grange, Long Lea Residential Home, Gildawood Court, Linden Grange and Holly Grange House Care Home. Each has a profile on this page setting out its current Care Quality Commission rating where one has been published. Being registered to support people with dementia does not mean every home offers the same depth of experience, so compare inspection reports as well as ratings. Vacancies move quickly, so approach more than one home at a time.
What is the difference between a dementia care home and a dementia nursing home?
A dementia care home provides accommodation, meals, personal care and supervision from care staff trained in supporting memory loss and confusion. A dementia nursing home offers all of that and additionally keeps a registered nurse on duty around the clock, which allows it to meet clinical needs such as complex wound care, tube feeding, unstable diabetes or care at the end of life. All ten providers listed for Nuneaton are registered as residential care homes rather than nursing homes. Where somebody already has substantial medical needs alongside dementia, check what a home is registered to manage before committing.
What should I ask when visiting a dementia care home in Nuneaton?
Begin with how long the manager and senior carers have been in post, because stability there shapes everything else. Ask what happens when a resident becomes distressed or refuses help with washing, and whether the answer centres on understanding the cause. Check the overnight staffing numbers, how much agency cover is used, and how the home tells families about falls or illness. Then ask to stay for a meal, since mealtimes show you the real quality of the interaction between staff and residents.
How do I arrange a care needs assessment in Nuneaton?
Contact the adult social care team at Warwickshire County Council and explain what your relative can no longer manage safely. The assessment is free and available to anybody who appears to need support, regardless of income or savings, and a GP or hospital team can make the referral for you. Write down specific recent incidents beforehand, such as falls, missed medication or going out at night, as concrete examples carry more weight than a general account of decline. Ask about a carer's assessment too if you have been providing much of the care.
Will Warwickshire County Council fund a dementia care home placement?
It may, once a care needs assessment has confirmed that residential dementia care is appropriate and a financial assessment has looked at income and capital. Those with capital above the national upper threshold generally fund the placement themselves, at least to begin with, while those below may receive partial or full support. Where health needs predominate, NHS continuing healthcare is a separate route worth exploring. If you choose a home that charges above the council rate, a relative may be able to pay the difference as a third party contribution.
How early should we start looking for dementia care in Nuneaton?
Where the decline is gradual, starting three to six months ahead gives you time to visit homes properly and to join a waiting list for one you like. Many families instead begin during a crisis, typically after a fall or a hospital admission, and then have only days in which to choose. Getting the care needs assessment and financial assessment done early is the most useful preparation, because both take time and neither obliges you to accept anything. Even a couple of informal visits now will make a sudden decision considerably easier.
