    • Care Home

Chamberlaine Court is a residential care home in Bedworth. We support older people, including people living with dementia, and we also care for younger adults whose needs we are confident we can meet properly. The house runs on the idea that people have moved home, not moved into a system. So the day belongs to the person living it. People get up when they wake, eat when they are hungry, keep their own routines and their own belongings, and spend the day where they like, whether that is in company or quietly in their own room. Help with personal care is given when it is needed and as discreetly as we can manage. Dementia care here is mostly about steadiness. Familiar faces, a predictable rhythm, and staff who know somebody's history well enough to understand what is behind a difficult afternoon. We write that history down with families so that the knowledge does not walk out of the door at the end of a shift. Meals are cooked on the premises and matter a great deal to how people feel. There is something going on most days for those who want it, and no pressure at all on those who do not. We take respite stays, which can give a family carer a genuine break. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated the home good overall, and visitors are welcome to come and see for themselves.

    • Care Home

The Old Rectory is a residential care home in Bedworth. We support older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia, people with physical disabilities and people with sight or hearing loss. We plan around the individual. Before somebody moves in we ask how they have always run their day, what they want help with and what they would much rather do themselves, and we write it down so that staff follow the person rather than a house routine. Help with washing, dressing, mobility and medication is given discreetly and at the time that suits. For people living with dementia we keep the day familiar and unhurried and we use what families tell us about the life behind the person. Where sight or hearing loss is part of the picture, we adjust how we communicate and make the building easier to move around. Our most recent rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement, and we would rather say so ourselves than leave you to discover it. We have accepted the findings, we are working through them, and we are happy to go through the detail with anyone who asks. Short respite stays are available. If you are considering us for a relative, please come and see the house on an ordinary day and ask us whatever you need to.

    • Care Home

Here at Collyhurst, we are a residential care home based in Bedworth, Warwickshire, and we are proud to be part of this local community. We support older people across a range of needs, including residential care, dementia care, physical disability and respite care, and we work hard to make sure each person who comes through our doors feels genuinely at home. We know that choosing a care home, whether for yourself or someone you love, is one of the most significant decisions a family can make. We do not take that responsibility lightly. Our team takes the time to get to know each resident as an individual, understanding their routines, preferences and personal history, so that the support we provide fits around their life rather than the other way around. For those living with dementia, we aim to create a calm, familiar environment where people feel safe and understood. We recognise that dementia affects everyone differently, and we tailor our approach accordingly. For those who come to us for a shorter respite stay, we hope that time spent with us offers both the resident and their loved ones genuine peace of mind. We are transparent about where we are as a service. Our most recent CQC rating is "requires improvement", and we want to be honest about that. We have been actively working through the feedback received and making real, practical changes. We believe accountability matters, and we would rather show our commitment through action than simply reassure people with words. If you would like to find out more about Collyhurst, or if you would like to arrange a visit to see us for yourself, we would be very glad to hear from you. We are always happy to answer questions and help families feel confident in the choices they are making.

Arranging and funding a dementia care home place in Bedworth

Where the local ratings are uneven, settling the funding question early does more than organise the money. It determines whether you can realistically consider homes beyond Bedworth as well as those on this list.

The care needs assessment

An assessment of needs is free and open to anybody who appears to require care and support, whatever their savings. Request one from Warwickshire County Council adult social care, or ask a GP, community nurse or hospital discharge team to refer. For dementia, describe behaviour as well as practical tasks, including night waking, leaving the house unaccompanied or distress during washing, because those details decide whether a residential setting can cope. Ask for a carer's assessment at the same time if a relative has been absorbing the strain.

Where the council may contribute

A financial assessment then compares income and capital against the national thresholds. Those above the upper limit normally meet the fee themselves, while those below may receive partial or full support. Where needs are primarily clinical rather than social, NHS continuing healthcare is assessed separately and can cover the entire cost. If you would rather look further afield than the homes listed here, ask the council what choice you have under a funded placement.

Cost in context

Dementia placements usually sit above the standard residential rate because of the staffing ratios and training they require. Fees are quoted weekly, so establish what falls outside them, such as chiropody, hairdressing and escorted appointments, and ask what the last two increases were.

Choosing between dementia care homes in Bedworth

What the inspection record shows

Chamberlaine Court holds a Good rating from the Care Quality Commission. Collyhurst and The Old Rectory Care Home have each been rated Requires Improvement. Read both of those reports in full, because the reason is what matters: a finding about record keeping is a very different proposition from one about staffing levels, medication or how distress was managed. Ask each manager what inspectors identified, what has changed since and what evidence of that change you can see for yourself.

Signs of real dementia expertise

Continuity of staff counts for more than any refurbishment, because familiarity is what replaces memory. Ask how long the senior carers have been in post and how many agency shifts were used last month. Notice whether residents can move about freely, reach outdoor space and find their own rooms unaided. Ask what dementia training the staff receive and who leads it.

Questions worth putting directly

Ask what the home does when a resident becomes agitated in the late afternoon and what it tries before medication is considered. Ask how many residents one carer supports after eight in the evening, and how falls and infections reach the family. Visit twice if you can, once unannounced and once at a mealtime.

Frequently asked questions about dementia care homes in Bedworth

How many dementia care homes are there in Bedworth?

Bedworth has 3 CQC registered care homes that are registered for dementia care, out of 7 CQC registered care homes in Bedworth: 1 Good, 2 Requires improvement. Counts come from the CQC register and are kept up to date as ratings change.

Which dementia care homes in Bedworth were inspected most recently?

The Old Rectory Care Home (3 February 2026), Chamberlaine Court (19 November 2024) and Collyhurst (15 April 2022) have the most recent CQC reports.

How do I arrange a care needs assessment in Bedworth?

Contact the adult social care team at Warwickshire County Council and explain what your relative can no longer manage safely at home. The assessment is free and available to anybody who appears to need support, whatever their savings, and a GP or hospital team can make the referral for you. Note down specific recent incidents beforehand, such as falls, missed medication or going out at night, because concrete examples carry more weight than a general account of decline. Ask about a carer's assessment too if you have been providing much of the care.

Will Warwickshire County Council fund a dementia care home placement?

It may, once a care needs assessment confirms that residential dementia care is appropriate and a financial assessment has examined income and capital. Those with capital above the national upper threshold generally fund the placement privately, at least to begin with, while those below may receive partial or full support. Where health needs predominate, NHS continuing healthcare is assessed separately and can meet the entire cost. If you want to consider a home outside Bedworth, ask the council what choice you have under a funded placement.

Which care homes in Bedworth provide dementia care?

Three residential care homes currently appear for dementia care in Bedworth: Collyhurst, The Old Rectory Care Home and Chamberlaine Court. Each has its own profile here showing the current Care Quality Commission rating. All three are registered to provide accommodation and personal care rather than nursing on site. Their ratings differ, so read the individual reports rather than treating the three as equivalent.

What is the difference between a dementia care home and a dementia nursing home?

A dementia care home provides accommodation, meals and personal care from staff trained in supporting memory loss and confusion. A dementia nursing home offers the same but keeps a registered nurse on duty at all times, which allows it to meet clinical needs such as complex wounds, tube feeding or care at the very end of life. All three providers listed for Bedworth are registered as residential care homes rather than nursing homes. If your relative has significant medical needs alongside dementia, check what a home is registered to manage before committing.

How far ahead should we start looking for dementia care in Bedworth?

Three to six months ahead is ideal where the decline is gradual, as it allows unhurried visits and time on a waiting list. Starting early matters particularly here, because two of the three local homes currently require improvement and you may want time to look further afield. Families who begin during a crisis, often after a fall or a hospital admission, usually have days rather than months. Completing both assessments in advance removes the slowest step and commits you to nothing.

What should I ask when visiting a dementia care home in Bedworth?

Ask how long the manager and the senior carers have been in post, because stability at that level shapes everything beneath it. Where a home has been rated Requires Improvement, ask precisely what inspectors found, what has changed since and what evidence of that change you can see. Ask what happens when a resident becomes distressed or refuses personal care, and listen for an answer about understanding the cause. Then ask whether you can stay for a meal, since mealtimes reveal more than a guided tour.
