About Us
At Devonshire Dementia Care Home we care for older people in New Malden, within the borough of Kingston upon Thames, and dementia sits at the heart of what we do.
We provide residential care for older people who can no longer manage safely at home, and we also welcome people for respite stays, whether a family carer needs a planned break or someone wants a short period of support after a spell in hospital. Because so many of the people who live here have a form of dementia, our team is trained to notice what lies behind a change in mood, and to work with what a person can still do rather than what they have lost. We take time to learn about the life someone has led, the work they did, the music they grew up with and the routines that make a day feel right, and we build their care around all of that.
Families tell us that the ordinary things matter most, so we pay attention to good food, unhurried mornings, familiar company and somewhere pleasant to sit when the weather is kind. Relatives are welcome throughout the day, and we would far rather ring and tell you how your mother or father is doing than wait to be asked.
Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. We treat that as a standard to hold onto rather than a finishing line. If you are thinking about a home for someone you love, please come and see us.
