About Oak Farm

Oak Farm provides nursing care in Norwich for older people and younger adults, including people with physical disabilities. Registered nurses are on duty at all hours, so clinical needs are met on site rather than passed between services. Good nursing care is mostly a matter of attention. Noticing that somebody is not quite themselves before it becomes an admission. Getting positioning and skin care right every time rather than most of the time. Recognising pain in a person who cannot describe it. Reviewing medication instead of repeating it. That work is unglamorous and it is what keeps people well, so it is where our effort goes. Alongside it, we want this to be a place where people live. Rooms are personal, visiting is not restricted to convenient hours, and the day is not organised around shift patterns. For younger adults in particular we are conscious that a nursing home can be a poor fit, and we work to make sure the week contains things belonging to that person's life rather than a generic programme. Respite stays are available, whether for a planned family break or for recovery after a hospital stay. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is Requires Improvement. We are not going to leave you to discover that elsewhere. We accept the findings, we are working through an improvement plan, and we will answer questions about progress plainly, including where the work is unfinished. Come and visit, and ask us the difficult questions.
