About Gryphon Place

Gryphon Place is a nursing home in Norwich, and the nursing side of what we do shapes everything else. Having qualified nurses here around the clock means that health needs which might otherwise lead to a hospital admission can often be met on site, in a familiar room, by people who already know the person well. We support adults living with a learning disability or autism, adults with mental health needs, and people with a physical disability. Some of those who live here have been with us a long time. Others come to us for respite, perhaps while a family carer takes a break or recovers from illness themselves, and we take those stays as seriously as any other. A short stay still has to feel like somewhere you can settle. We try to build the day around the person rather than around the rota. That sounds obvious and is harder in practice, so we keep asking a plain question: what does this person actually want from today? For some the answer is quiet and routine. For others it is getting out into Norwich, or simply having a say in what happens in the house. Answering it well depends on knowing people properly, which is why we work at keeping our team settled. Families are welcome here, and we would far rather hear a worry early than have someone sit on it. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is Good.
