About Chesterfield House
Chesterfield House is a nursing home in Lincoln, and our work is with adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults whose health needs require qualified nursing support. Many of the people we care for are younger adults, and we also offer respite stays. This is a particular kind of nursing care and it needs a particular approach. The people we support often cannot tell us in words that something hurts or that they feel unwell, so a great deal of our skill lies in knowing each individual well enough to notice when something has changed. That means learning how somebody communicates, whether through signs, symbols, a device, sounds or behaviour, writing it down properly, and taking families and long standing health colleagues seriously when they tell us what is normal for that person and what is not. Clinically we pay close attention to medication, epilepsy where it is present, nutrition and swallowing, skin integrity, pain, positioning and safe moving and handling. Where physical disability is part of the picture, equipment and seating get real attention. Beyond that, this is somebody's home, and people have real say over how their day goes. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please arrange to visit.
