About Us
We provide nursing care in Borehamwood for adults with learning disabilities, autistic people and people with physical disabilities, including younger adults, whose needs require qualified nursing alongside day to day support.
Nursing care in this setting is a particular kind of work. There are health needs that must be managed properly and without waiting: medication, pain, seizures, continence, difficulties with eating, drinking and moving, and the early signs of illness in people who may not be able to tell us something is wrong. Just as much, there is the question of how care is offered. How a person communicates, what they find intolerable, what helps them feel safe and what a change of routine does to them matter as much as the clinical side, and we try to treat them as equally important.
People here have their own rooms and their own things, and we keep staffing as settled as we can, because familiar faces do more for somebody's wellbeing than almost anything else we could arrange. Where a person wants to get out, see family or do something regularly, that is part of the job rather than an extra.
Respite stays are available as well as longer places.
Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. Please come and visit and ask us whatever you need to.
