About Us
Meadowhill Care Home is a nursing home in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire. We care for older people whose health needs go beyond residential care, for younger adults living with conditions that require qualified nursing, and for people with physical disabilities. Respite stays are available when a family carer needs a break or cover.
Registered nurses are on duty here at all hours. That means medication is managed closely, wound care, catheter care and conditions that vary from week to week are handled on site, and a change in a resident's health is generally picked up early because the person noticing knows them well. We work with GPs, district nurses, therapists and hospital teams, and we press on a resident's behalf when something is slow to arrive.
Dementia care matters here as much as clinical care, and in truth the two cannot be separated. Somebody in pain or frightened who cannot explain it will show us in other ways, and reading that properly depends on knowing the person. So we ask families about working lives, music, food and old habits, and we keep the day calm and familiar.
For residents with physical disabilities, our focus is on equipment that fits, transfers done safely and without indignity, and as much independence as somebody wishes to keep.
We have not yet had an overall rating published by the Care Quality Commission, which we would rather tell you ourselves. Families are welcome at any reasonable hour, and we are glad to be asked difficult questions. Ring us if you would like to visit.
