About The Care Home

We are The Cambridgeshire Care Home, a nursing home in Cambridge. We care for older people and for younger adults with nursing needs, including many people living with dementia and people with a physical disability or a visual or hearing impairment. Having qualified nurses on duty at every hour is what allows us to look after people whose health is complicated or changeable. Problems are noticed early by staff who know the person, treatment starts without waiting for somebody to come in from outside, and families are not left wondering about overnight cover. The nursing is essential but it is the background rather than the purpose. People live here, and we work at making that a proper life. Rooms are personalised, people get up and settle when they choose, and meals are something to look forward to. Our staff take time to learn who somebody was before they needed care. For those living with dementia we work patiently and with the person's history in view. We do not correct or reorient. We find what works for someone on a given day and go with it, and the days are calmer as a result. Relatives are welcome whenever they want to come and we keep them informed rather than waiting to be asked. Respite stays are available alongside permanent places. Our most recent CQC overall rating is good. Please contact us to arrange a visit.
